Spent another day on my piano coatrack, all of it sanding and finishing. So much sanding...
Got the main piano coatrack finished, up next will be the frame

All but four of the keys rotate, but not sure it'll usually be more than a few open at a time.
Process below:

Sanded from 80, all the way up to 400 grit for the white and black keys. Then started applying some homemade shellac. Ended up doing an amber shellac for the black keys and a blonde shellac for the white keys.

After about 6 coats of shellac, sanding with 400 grit between the last three layers, I did a few layers of my homemade beeswax finish buffing till smooth.

Auryn box.
A box I made from scratch back in freshman year of collage using the Auryn medallion design from the never ending story.
The Auryn design was made using wood burning tools and the black of the box is achieved using bees wax and graphite powder .

Guys, I FINISHED IT.

I've been working on this in my woodshop class for about 2 1/2 months now and it's done. It has has a working door, a removable roof, roughly 20 inches tall, and is made of mostly maple minus the roof which is oak plywood. It's not perfect and looks chipped in some places, but I'm pretty happy overall. Now I just need the Wally Darling plush to arrive so I can put him in it.
And if anyone is curious, I got an A- (probably because I messed up at least 5 times. We don't talk about what happened with the roof and screws and my lack of math skills).

Spring means getting organized, so everything gets wheeled out of the corner so the lumber can get sorted and stacked. It helps to have all options visible when choosing wood for a project, so vertical storage is a big plus. A safety chain about 4’ off the ground keeps the tall stuff in place.

Continuing to make progress on my new bench. Got the legs finished and the stringers setup. Marked out and cut two of the mortises into the top. Gotta take a break and sharpen my chisels up before the next two.

After so, sooooo many weeks, I'm finally done, atleast until the eventual paintjob. I know the handles don't look aligned but they are. It took like 1.5 months from start to end, but I've taken it from a pile I was intensely ashamed of hidden in the corner, to a closed up little cubboard that now has space inside, in 3 building days time. At some point I'll move those 40k army containers inside the cubboard, but for now I'm done
