a poem made by me. These verses delve into the daily battles fought within the mind, where hope and despair constantly vie for control. It highlights the stigmas faced, the silent struggles endured.

vacant eyes
flutter off and on
sound of speed; sound of light
in my silence.
a thunder; a bolt down
my throat,
I'm a toad waiting to unearth
the words I need
to flutter out the sound of
the unmasked
and the unseen.

#HappyWomensDay!💐 Let us celebrate women's literature and history today and every day!📚💕 --- In college, in my "The Norton Anthology Of Literature By Women," I treasured a beautiful tapestry of many women writers' works, poems, essays, letters, or excerpts of works. I loved Anne Bradstreet's poetry, Abigail Adams' letters (especially "Remember the Ladies"), Phillis Wheatley's poetry, Sojourner Truth's courageous story & speeches (especially "Ain't I a Woman?"), & Elizabeth Barrett Browning's poetry. I treasured Harriet Beecher Stowe's courage, Harriet Jacobs' story of resilience while escaping slavery, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, & Florence Nightingale. And I enjoyed Charlotte Bronte, George Elliot (her pen name), Emily Bronte, & Emily Dickinson. My favorite was Alice Walker's "In Search of Our Mother's Gardens." I, also, read Virginia Wolf's "A Room of One's Own" and many more authors, poets, & writers who broadened my literary horizons. I definitely recommend this book that covers a multitude of women writers and writing styles from past eras to the recent Modern Era (20th century).💐 📷(Copyright of my #bookreview & photo: #Inknscroll)📖 (In college, I read most of these two anthologies. Here are the above complete titles: "The Norton Anthology Of Literature By Women: The Traditions In English," by (Editors) Sandra M. Gilbert, Susan Gubar, (Contributor) Anne Spencer. And "The Harper American Literature, Single Volume Edition," by (Editors) Robert Atwan & others.) #InternationalWomensDay #WomensLiterature #American #British #European #books #biography #nonfiction #WomensHistory #Americanhistory #writersofinstagram #bookstagram #history #bookworm #autobiography #memoirs #literature #goodreads #authors #writers #poets #books #AmericanLiterature #WomensHistoryMonth #equality #Inknscrollbookreview #WomensDay 💐📚🎉 https://www.instagram.com/p/Cpibpe9vSv9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Dolly Alderton's Good Material Was Just What I Needed
Good Material by Dolly Alderton was exactly the right book at the right time. Having just finished reading The Women by Kristin Hannah about the war in Vietnam, I needed something light, contemporary, and with a bit of humour for a complete change of pace. Good Material was the right material for me. I was introduced to Dolly Alderton’s work when she was a contributing writer to the British…

Review: Within Arm's Reach by Ann Napolitano
☆☆➹⁀☆ 3 stars ☆➹⁀☆☆ Within Arm's Reach by Ann Napolitano #Fiction #LiteraryFiction #IrishLiterature #ChickLit #ContemporaryFiction #WomensLiterature #AnnNapolitano #RandomHousePublishingGroup #PenguinBooks
☆☆➹⁀☆ 3 stars ☆➹⁀☆☆ About the Book: No one in my mother’s family ever talks about anything that can be categorized as unpleasant or as having to do with emotions. . . . This spellbinding debut by bestselling author Ann Napolitano is a poignant reminder of how connected we are to those we love, even when we cannot find the words to say it. The unforgettable story of three generations of a large…

I wear Grey on my face like a morning.
He left me standing on the corner
Waiting on a moment for myself; To find myself out of the lost streets
The lost feet I stand still in; I still even further in the moment
For a harmony in the violence; For the harm in his voice
Guides me down these streets; Holds me to my feet

I translated an article written in 1979 by Helga Kress about Icelandic feminist author Svava Jakobsdóttir. I think it’s super interesting and I love digging up women’s history. I will be doing more translations of Helga Kress’s work in the future

For women and the mentally ill, the battle rages on,  In a society that often turns its back and moves along.  Their strength is in their silence, their power in their pain,  In every tear and whispered fear, they rise and fight again.
Abuse and stigma shadow them, like phantoms in the night,  Yet in their hearts, a fire burns, a beacon of their might.  They navigate the darkness, with courage as their guide,  In a world that seeks to break them, they stand with steadfast pride.
Their voices, though often silenced, will never be erased,  For in their struggle lies a truth that cannot be displaced.  In unity and resilience, they find their way to cope,  And in their fight for justice, they kindle sparks of hope. -- female lore

Sins & Flowers
our bodies are still in solitude; flowering we were once each other - confused red, purple, blue
smoldering ourselves in the horizon laying weak, breathing - fearsome my freedom smokes the sky a parade of fire; thundering trumpets clamorous sounds beating through my roots with love sick breathing red rose skies engulfed in our bodies made of toxins; make me love sick for peace; between us two worlds burning - we love in visceral gratitude - like a menace; with roses at out feet - voices in tulips

Shame On Me. I Misread Alice Munro
The recent passing of Alice Munro, the respected and famous Canadian writer who won a Nobel Prize for Literature has created a rush on her books at the library and bookstores across the country. As I added my name to the waiting lists for her various books at the library, I ordered The Lives of Girls and Women from Amazon to read on Kindle and have been engrossed in it for more than a week. To my…

Would you want the ability to predict the future? . I don’t think I would ever want that ability, I prefer not to know my future or anyone else’s. I feel it would be a burden that I could not handle. In the book All About Evie by @cathylamb , Evie receives premonitions of the future. Her close knit family ends up learning a lot about their heritage and their past and Evie learns a lot about herself and her abilities. It sounds like such an intriguing book! Check out the synopsis below! . Thank you so much to @kensingtonbooks for gifting me with this free book! • • • Set against the natural beauty of the San Juan Islands in the Pacific Northwest, acclaimed author Cathy Lamb’s latest novel tells the emotionally compelling story of one woman’s life-changing discovery about her past . . . . As a child, Evie Lindsay was unnerved by her premonitions. As an adult, they have become a simple fact of life—sometimes disruptive but also inescapable, much like her quirky, loveable family. Evie’s mother, Poppy, and her aunts, Camellia and Iris, are well known on San Orcanita island for their free-spirited ways and elaborately decorated hats. Their floral shop and Evie’s bookstore draw streams of visitors all summer long. This season promises to be extra busy: Evie’s sister, Jules, is getting married on the island. . As Jules plans her unconventional wedding, she arranges to do a DNA test with her mother, sister, and aunts, to see how much accepted lore about their heritage holds true. The results blow apart everything Evie has grown up believing about herself and her family. Spurred on by the revelations, Evie uncovers the real story of her past. But beyond her feelings of shock and betrayal, there are unexpected opportunities—to come to terms with a gift that has sometimes felt like a curse, to understand the secrets that surrounded her childhood, and to embrace the surprising new life that is waiting for her . . . #allaboutevie #cathylamb #kensingtonbooks #autumnaesthetic #autumnvibes #fallfeels #fallvibes #bookaesthetic #bookstagram #bibliophile #bookworm #contemporaryfiction #womensliterature #chiclit #flatlay #readersofinstagram #booksofinstagram #igbooks #bookflatlay https://www.instagram.com/p/B5QrVrrAgha/?igshid=mr2eut8ua75j
