Cool Sales, Ski Adventure & Networking with Women
You never know when the snow will be flying or when we will have enough of it, so we are going ahead and planning a Women’s Athletic Network Cross Country Ski event with Tracy Chamberlain Higginbotham for Friday, February 3, 2023 at Beaver Lake Nature Center in Baldwinsville, New York.
If you have your own Cross Country Skis bring them along and get your ticket at the entrance gate to park. Come inside their Welcome Building and meet Tracy and others in there and set out for the 3-mile lake loop. We'll finish off the event with networking inside where Tracy will buy you some coffee, hot chocolate, Gatorade, water and a few snacks.
The price of $20 for Women TIES members or $25 for non-members (not including any rentals) includes the networking sales list, experience, and beverages/snacks. Plus your parking fee. Just bring your ticket inside to Tracy when you arrive.
Note: Beaver Lake Nature Center does not rent skis at this location. And if by chance there is no snow, we can hike the trail instead or try out snow shoes which we can rent there.
Come on! Join the Women's Athletic Network for this "cool" outside event to kick-off 2023.
NOTE: We are looking for a sponsor for this event so if you are into skiing and want a very personal experience marketing your company to other women, contact Women TIES for details. The sponsorship also includes pre-event marketing on social media and on the Women TIES Marketing platforms.

Total Solar Eclipse in Aries: Predictions
Tumblr media
✰ my masterlist This eclipse season is highlighting themes of forgiveness, both towards others and towards ourselves. It's time to turn a new leaf, and to take responsibility for mistakes made within the past. Doing this will allow a particular area within your life to transform. In October 2023 it may have felt like you lost something. Whether that was a friend group, a career opportunity, or a romantic relationship depends on your chart. However, because this solar eclipse is conjuncting the North Node, it will feel as though you have gained something. Issues from October 2023 will find a resolution.
Tumblr media
General predictions:
ꕥ Sudden/unexpected military action.
ꕥ The development and discovery of new weapons. (Specifically with bombs and explosives.)
ꕥ Veterans speaking out against the country they once served.
ꕥ World leaders unexpectedly stepping down from their positions.
- Many world leaders are going to be dealing with extremely poor health which will “eclipse’ their power.
ꕥ It's going be a hot summer, and the effects of climate change will become all the more obvious.
ꕥ Bad wildfire season.
ꕥ An increase in self-immolation as a form of protest.
ꕥ An increase in reckless driving, speeding, and road rage.
ꕥ An increase in violence against women, and people who are non-binary or transgender .
ꕥ Issues regarding gender will become even more polarizing.
- Women across the world will continue to assert their independence and will fight back against outdated standards.
- Women will become more willing to embrace the unknown. Many women will fully commit to the idea of never getting married or having children during this time frame, and they will do so with enthusiasm.
- Some women will choose not to get married or have children as a form of protest
ꕥ An increase in narcissistic behavior, as well as an increase in being able to recognize narcissistic behavior.
ꕥ Celebrities responding to public criticism with arrogance will witness a downfall.
ꕥ The Summer Olympics will be especially entertaining this year. This event will be explosive and dramatic. Some athletes will gain a significant amount of fame during this event.
ꕥ LOTS of new music. Artists are going to be pushing the boundaries of genres. Audiences are craving something completely new.
ꕥ People are DONE living in fear. This will result in widespread, collective action that will effectively make big changes. More protests, more boycotts, more strikes, more uprisings.

Business, as usual
Formula 1 week-end with a new, 22 year old and Scottish conquest?
In *urv's head - her sock accounts made frantically the rounds again, all week-end long, amending her bullshit on the go, trying to spy, finding nothing. Whatever it takes, even the utmost ridicule, to remain relevant.
The 'conquest':
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Underdog profile, associated with the Aston Martin Academy. So, it is only normal for her to post the following story:
Tumblr media
A normal side event for the tournament she's been a very active part of for days, now:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, S posts something from the same event, obviously thanking a friendly event organizing company, Twist London, for serving (and promoting) his booze:
Tumblr media
S, Norouzi and the Twist London people know each other well, it would seem. But hey, never let business truth get in the way of a *urv #parochial fanfic:
Tumblr media
How does that prove anything else than a very attractive young athlete being three feet away from a bar serving S's booze is just beyond me. *urv's posse of hypocrite, ageing women should really, really be ashamed of themselves.
And since we are debunking things, let me add something about the Foul-Mouthed June Brunette. You thought, as I did (guilty as charged, always), that she was found on Raya?
Oh, no. Think twice and so long for #sources, #timelines and other baker's dozen trolls.
As it was very judiciously pointed out before, S's own hospitality business network can be a very useful, ready made solution for PR blunders.
Because look who Panikian tagged, a couple of days ago, just as she was landing in Portugal:
Tumblr media
Melissa Wood Tepperberg. She was busy in the Hamptons, with the usual nouveau riche weekend entertainment spree, but she is a friend and probably a role model, in her world.
Incidentally, she is also this guy's wife:
Tumblr media
He is also very friendly to her and seems to closely follow her shenanigans:
Tumblr media
Link to S? Oh, for sure - remember August 11, 2022? When things were dramatic, somewhere in Ireland?
And when time and cover-up were of the essence?
Tumblr media
I rest my case. There is strictly nothing organic about June Brunette. A short lived summer stunt, who came around with a bang and went away with a fizz.
PS: Mulțumesc frumos - știi tu... 😘😘

thanks to @bikefuckersoftheworldunite post about Jorge's comic book, here we have Vale's
Tumblr media Tumblr media
its written by Vale and Milo Manara (famous italian comic book writer (famous for mostly drawing naked women lol)) in 2006
Tumblr media
alternative front cover of the graphic novel
Now I offer you some of my fav Vale comments from the book introduction aka italian men adoring, loving Vale pt84t8398
"Valentino Rossi was already, of course, a comic book on his own, just waiting for someone to bring him into the world of talking clouds, of fantasy becoming drawing [...] At this point, Milo Manara enters the scene, and he understands the extraordinary opportunity offered to him: to retrace Homer's path to tell the sporting exploits and adventures of Valentino Rossi […]”
Also Milo Manara says this about Valentino:
"The difference between a comic book superhero and Valentino Rossi, is practically nonexistent. Except for one small detail: Valentino ride his bike in the real world and with his skill, intelligence and likability he gets up to all sorts of things, more than can be imagined even in a comic book."
the plot from Goodreads is just insane lol I had to add it to the post:
"A famous motorcycling champion becomes involved in an intrigue that winds its way through various stages of the world championship until the final race, amid mysterious dark ladies, kidnapping umbrella girls, and unscrupulous journalists in the service of television networks that hide unmentionable secrets. With the help of his loyal bulldog Guido and the appearances of the chicken Osvaldo, Valentino Rossi finds himself at the centre of a frenzied series of twists and turns that sees him the protagonist on and off the track, fighting for the world championship title and to find out who intends to prevent him from getting it, in the company of the beautiful Linda and the ghosts of some of his legends: Jim Morrison, Steve McQueen, Enzo Ferrari."
like what do u mean the ghost of Enzo Ferrari and the chicken Osvaldo are helping Valentino save umbrella girls?
(also wikipedia goes even further into details and apparently the evil villain hot girl has to find a way to get Vale's cum (????????????) to get his DNA to create perfect superhuman riders??????? NOT EVEN AO3 COULD COME UP WITH THIS PLOT I SWEAR MILO MANARA U JUST WANTED TO FUCK VALE)
(do u guys think is this a metaphor for Vale meeting the aliens post 2006? Are the superhuman rider athletes made with his cum DNA just a metaphor for Jorge, Dani and Casey? lol)
Also there's a DVD version with Vale voice over :))

Tbh I don't think Rory is that much "not like the other girls" like yes she cares about school, reading and learning but aesthetically she is very basic and also listens to pretty basic music and keeps up with current pop culture references of the time. She also doesn't have any traditionally manly interests- doesn't care about cars or sports and isn't athletic at all, and wears makeup. Same goes for Lorelai I mean the girl carries three bags of makeup with her everywhere! Lorelai being accused of being "not like the other girls" is even weirder than when Rory gets accused of it (and I have seen it already). Do they get jealous of other girls when they are interested in the same guy as them? Absolutely, but that's human (even though Rory's tearing down of Shane made me cringe). If these basic girls that like current trends, pop music, makeup and romcoms, and wear dresses and makeup get accused of being "not like the other girls" then where is the hope for the rest of us lol
Yeah. Although I will say that the music Rory and even Lorelai listen to was NOT "basic" pop music at the time! Rory listened to a variety of things that most of the kids at my school hadn't heard of. "Basic" pop music in the early 2000s was boy bands like the Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, and 98°, or female pop stars like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Rory was pretty emphatically not into that stuff! And that would have automatically made her "different." HOWEVER, the show also highlighted Rory's enthusiasm for other women artists, like PJ Harvey! (Remember that Tristin didn't know who PJ Harvey was? Yeah, that's because HE'S "basic." Hahaha! PJ Harvey was not played on the Top 40 pop radio stations!) Her locker was pasted with photos of women authors! Rory and Lorelai were definitely written to be a bit "different" (maybe this was more noticable at the time?) BUT they were also still written to be very typically "feminine" in a lot of ways.
I don't know, it's hard to tell what people MEAN by "not like other girls" sometimes. A lot of it depends on what you're contrasting "other girls" with. Is the emphasis on "girls" or "Other?" Frankly, I consider the idea that "girls" are only interested in certain things pretty insulting, haha! If Rory was "not like other girls," that shouldn't necessarily mean that the only alternative is "more like BOYS!". If people are looking for ideological perfection, they're not going to find it in a network TV show from 2000, haha, but Gilmore Girls definitely had a lightly alternative AND "Girl Power" flavor in the context of the time, and those things weren't seen as contradictory. Even Rory's criticism of Shane, while unfair and definitely motivated by jealousy, was NOT seen as "anti Feminist" AT THAT TIME. Possibly maybe "TOO" Feminist. Attitudes can change a lot in 20 years, haha! I don't know what to say. It's a complicated thing, haha.

Alicia Sadowski, Isabella Corrao, Helena Hind, and Jane Lee at MMFA:
The extreme policy positions and toxicity of Project 2025 — the Heritage Foundation’s initiative to provide policy and personnel to the next Trump administration — have prompted leader Paul Dans to resign from his position at the Heritage Foundation and former President Donald Trump to publicly disavow the effort. (Heritage's president has said that Trump trying to create distance from Project 2025 is a “political tactical decision” and that Heritage still has a “very good” relationship with Trump and his team.) Fox News has maintained that Trump was not aware of Project 2025 and attempted to distance Trump from its extremism. But the pro-Trump network’s personalities have repeatedly signaled support for many of Project 2025’s proposals.
[...]
Personnel and staffing
Project 2025’s plan to staff the next Trump administration involves potentially firing thousands of nonpartisan federal civil service workers — what MAGA figures usually refer to as the “deep state” — and replacing them with Trump loyalists. This would be accomplished by reinstituting a Trump-era executive order called “Schedule F,” which would reclassify civil service employees as “at-will” workers who can be more easily fired. And Project 2025 has already created a training academy to instruct potential staffers on “rolling back destructive policy and advancing conservative ideas in the federal government.”
Christian nationalism
In the foreword to the effort’s policy book, Mandate for Leadership, Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts warned that “the Left is threatening the tax-exempt status of churches and charities that reject woke progressivism,” adding that “they will soon turn to Christian schools and clubs with the same totalitarian intent.”
To rectify this threat, Project 2025 offers, as Salon has written, a “blueprint for the Christian nationalist vision for America.”In the chapter on the Department of Labor, former Trump official Jonathan Berry cited the “Judeo-Christian tradition” to justify calling for overtime pay on the Sabbath.
In the chapter on the Department of Health and Human Services, former Trump HHS official Roger Severino criticized the Centers for Disease Control for issuing health guidelines warning against congregating at churches during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He asked, “How much risk mitigation is worth the price of shutting down churches on the holiest day of the Christian calendar and far beyond as happened in 2020? What is the proper balance of lives saved versus souls saved?”He also argued that future conservative administrations should “maintain a biblically based, social science-reinforced definition of marriage and family.”
LGBTQ rights
Project 2025 will have a major impact on LGBTQ students and teachers in public school systems.
The Heritage Foundation’s Lindsey Burke wrote that the next conservative administration should “take particular note of how radical gender ideology is having a devastating effect on school-aged children today” and warned of a supposed intent to “drive a wedge between parents and children.”Project 2025 claims that concepts such as gender ideology “poison our children, who are being taught … to deny the very creatureliness that inheres in being human and consists in accepting the givenness of our nature as men or women.”
Burke also called for legislation to force “K–12 districts under federal jurisdiction” to prohibit employees from using a name or pronoun different from the information listed on a student’s birth certificate without written guardian permission.
Project 2025 additionally targets trans athletes in schools, citing “bureaucrats at the Department of Justice” who “force school districts to undermine girls’ sports and parents’ rights to satisfy transgender extremists.” The plan says the federal government should instead “define ‘sex’ under Title IX to mean only biological sex recognized at birth.”Additionally, in the foreword, Kevin Roberts calls gender-affirming care “child abuse.”
Diversity, equity, and inclusion
Project 2025’s Mandate for Leadership proposes the removal of “DEI” references from “every federal rule, agency regulation, contract, grant, regulation, and piece of legislation that exists,” claiming that such efforts undermine the purpose of these agencies. The proposal also calls for the investigation and prosecution of supposed discrimination brought on by DEI policies.Fox News has been vocal in the anti-DEI crusade as well, pushing many of the same talking points found in Mandate, including that DEI and pro-LGBTQ policies are a detriment to the U.S. Army’s effectiveness and that DEI policies constitute discrimination:
GOP propaganda organ Fox “News” and Project 2025 are in lockstep on many key policies, such as opposition to DEI and LGBTQ+ rights, Christian nationalism, and Schedule F.

what do the shabogans look like? how are they different from other gallifreyans? what other native gallifreyan species are there, sapient or not?
(sorry if I'm asking too many questions! powerhouse of knowledge about my special interest, y'know, i can't resist)
What do Shobogans look like, and how are they different from modern Gallifreyans?
The Shobogans were the ancient predecessors of modern Gallifreyans. Here’s a detailed look at their biology and how they differ from all the Gallifreyans we know today.
🏋️ Height and Build
Shobogans: Stronger, more athletic, and significantly taller than the average human. Shobogan women tended to be much taller and more muscular than Shobogan males.
Modern Gallifreyans: Retain a humanoid appearance but have a more uniform height and build.
💓 Heart/s
Shobogans: Had only one heart.
Modern Gallifreyans: Possess two hearts, providing greater strength, endurance, and resilience.
🌬️ Respiratory System
Shobogans: Had a respiratory bypass system allowing them to survive in harsh conditions, but likely lacked the extensive pulmonary tubes of modern Gallifreyans.
Modern Gallifreyans: Also have a respiratory bypass, and advanced lungs with pulmonary tubes, requiring less oxygen than humans.
🕰️ Life Span
Shobogans: Originally immortal, but after the Kotturuh arrived, their lifespan was reduced to about 300 years.
Modern Gallifreyans: Can live for thousands of years.
🧠 Telepathy
Shobogans: Had very powerful telepathic abilities, engaging in complex networks and collective consciousness known as the Thought-Pool.
Modern Gallifreyans: Possess psionic abilities, although less potent than Shobogans, with telepathic intuition and courtesy mind-touches.
🧬 DNA
Shobogans: Had slightly different DNA compared to modern Gallifreyans (probably double helix).
Modern Gallifreyans: Have triple-helix DNA with symbiotic nuclei and a hidden fourth helix in Time Lords, enhancing their abilities and linking them to their TARDISes.
🍽️ Nutritional Needs
Shobogans: Ate about the same amount as humans. Young Shobogans required more food than human children.
Modern Gallifreyans: Eat similarly to humans but are better at extracting nutrients, leading to fewer meals in the day. Young Gallifreyans also need more food than human children.
😴 Sleep
Shobogans: After reaching maturity, required very little sleep.
Modern Gallifreyans: Similar to Shobogans, needing only 1-2 hours of sleep per day post-First Maturation.
🦰 Hair
Shobogans: Ginger hair was a common indicator of an "Individual," a rare Shobogan with extraordinary psionic powers.
Modern Gallifreyans: Ginger hair is more of a desirable hair colour.
❄️ Cold Resistance
Shobogans: Had a similar resistance to being frozen as modern Gallifreyans, with teenagers being less resistant to cold.
Modern Gallifreyans: Share the same cold resistance, with younger individuals being less resistant.
🏫 So ...
In summary, while Shobogans and modern Gallifreyans share many foundational traits, advancements by Rassilon and genetic engineering have significantly enhanced the capabilities of modern Gallifreyans. Despite this, the legacy of the Shobogans most definitely continues to influence Gallifreyan physiology and culture.
Due to its sheer length, I'm going to put the second section of the ask into a new post. I'll post it right after this one.

They will purposely say things to hurt you out of anger
They will gossip behind enemies and ex-firends’ back
They girls can be huge social climbers and be super fake with people
Their biggest lesson in life is to control their anger and pettiness
The girls can be very bossy and think they are above everyone else
If Ares kids don’t check their ego they will have a very bad downfall somewhere after Saturn return
If the guys don’t check their misdirected anger and starts acting right they will become aggressive incels, blaming everything on women when they are the ones developing their emotional intelligence
They are prone to staying in toxic relationships for way too long
They can get lazy and too complacent in a relationship and stop putting in effort or consideration
They can come off way too aggressive or even emotionally manipulative in a fight
The guys can take a long time to leave their toxic traits behind
They can be very unfocused when they are not in alignment with themselves
They can drop someone over the smallest reasons and commit to the wrong person way too fast
They can be quick to cut off people for the wrong reasons
They can be very unforgiving to people from their past even if they also did the other party wrong
They can lack a sense of remorse
Sometimes they can be very hardstuck on their own views even if reality proves them wrong
The girls can be too materialistic to the point where they don’t care about anything else aside from materialism
Sometimes they tend to approach the problem in a very shallow way
They can be fake when they want to
They like creating rifts among friends when they have a falling out with someone
They can put too much value on to shallow things and stop working on their emotional intelligence
They are quick to fight
They don’t care enough about how their actions come off sometimes
They need to slow down and think about the consequences of their actions
Impatience
They often lack compassion for others when they are younger
Disclaimer: Everything I mentioned above are based on my own observations, I do not claim to be 100% correct

Summer Style: Pretty in Pink
Harvey's summer outfits have really popped lately with some intriguing pieces in pink! Even better, these items come from companies with mission statements that tie into some element of Harvey's style ethos. So here's a rundown of all the fun & thought-provoking summer style he's been serving.
Wolf & Badger Juliette Kimono
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This flowy, handmade chiffon kimono by Jennafer Grace screams summer relaxation. It features peachy-pink flowers on a blue-white background, and originally came in sizes up to a women's XXL (it is unclear what measurements this translates to, as the website's size guide does not provide them). All sizes except for M and L are currently out of stock. It retails for $175.
Jennafer Grace is an independent designer based in San Diego, California. She specializes in handmade, eclectic garments and accessories inspired by vintage style and cinema. Wolf & Badger is a B-corp certified business that sells clothing from independent brands worldwide. They prioritize sustainability and ethical production practices.
(B-corp certification is a designation conferred by B Lab Global, an international non-profit network that seeks to raise corporate standards across the globe. In order to earn a B-corp certification, a business must meet specific markers of social and environmental performance, corporate governance and accountability, and transparency.)
LungeMan Electric Pink Swim Trunks
Tumblr media
Though of course there is margin for error whenever we cannot see specific labels or defining features, it appears that these trunks are the Electric Pink LungeMan shorts from Sleeves Sold Separately, a family-owned athletic wear boutique based in Southern California.
The LungeMan is described as a retro gym short that doubles as workout shorts or swimming trunks. The shorts are made of a stretchy nylon-spandex blend with a low-cut elastic waistband, moisture-wicking liner, zippered back pocket, and a 4-inch inseam. They are designed to be comfortable while also being fitted, to allow the wearer to show off their legs. As such, the cut is tailored for men with larger glutes and thighs, and comes in sizes up to XXL (37-38-inch hip). They are currently low in stock, with sizes M and XXL being out of stock entirely. They retail for $75.
The founders of Sleeves Sold Separately, Naomi and BJ, say they aim to provide athleisure apparel that celebrates the masculine body, a goal stemming from BJ's own struggles with weight, body image, and fashion. As a both a kid in a larger body and an adult in a thinner body, BJ says he struggled to find any fashion options that made him feel confident and like his body was being celebrated. "My mission is simple," says BJ. "I’m just gonna create all of the apparel I want in my closet for every training and social situation." (Source)
(A personal note: While I don't agree with the way BJ implicitly equates fitness with a smaller body on their about page, I definitely sympathize with the struggle to find clothes that make me feel confident, and celebrate any company working to alleviate that struggle for others.)
Affordable Options
Technically, the trunks already fall into the "under $100" affordability threshold. But here are a few other options as well!
Hot Pink Beach Shorts - $9.96 from Walmart, available in sizes up to XXL (45-inch waist).
Neon Pink Swim Trunks - $55 from Coastal Cool, available in sizes up to 3XL (45 5/8-inch waist, 52 3/4-inch hip).
It was surprisingly difficult to find any full-length chiffon kimonos that matched the vibe and quality of the one Harvey wears above. In the end I only found one, and it didn't meet the affordability threshold.

While I mean obviously one of the major reasons (American) football is gender segregated is misogyny, I’d also point out the level of homophobia that is experienced by girls playing “masculine” sports. Specifically speaking as a rugby player in the US, the prominence of lgbt women in the sport as well as the assumption that anyone playing a contact sport (or tbh any sport) is a lesbian has led to chronic underfunding esp at the local level. Not sure statistically, but anecdotally I’ve heard a lot of players from other countries express that US rugby in particular is a very Gay Sport comparatively to countries where rugby is an official sport in local schools (as opposed to more independently run grassroots orgs governed by unions the way it p much exclusively is in the us). I’d say this personally intensity of homophobia increases in older players, esp after the opportunity for college scholarships based on sports is no longer relevant.
I’d say generally that sports are seen very much in the US that boys/men do for fun/prestige/masculine supremacy vs something women/girls do for social advancement/scholarships/networking. Obviously there’s some overlap and some sports are seen as more “feminine” than others (volleyball was my first thought)
Volleyball is feminine? What??
I'm sorry about the homophobia! The dynamic you describe is common to the rest of the world though, where female athletes are assumed to be lesbian and this gets worse as the sport gets more contact heavy. But outside of the US, I feel like there is not really such thing as a 'feminine' sport – gymnastics and figure skating maybe but they're not popular at all where I'm from. Its more like all sports are generally only serious business for men, and girls who play do it because they were a bit crazy or hadn't grown up.
Tennis for eg, which often has had the world's most recognizable female athletes feminizes them quite forcibly with mandates on wearing skirts. The "scandal" of Billie Jean King and Navratilova's sexualities was often described as the end of the women's tour by hysteric commentators. A lot of early tennis writing contrasts itself as a more respectable for women than other sports, but as the narrative around Battle of the Sexes stuff illustrates, ofc it was a men's game first. Due to the misogyny, chronic underfunding, lack of interest from sponsors and so on in general women's sports tends to be far more openly political – and hence the prominence of openly lesbian and bisexual women. I'd push back on LGBT. Transphobia & esp transmisogyny is rampant, women's sport functions as both a cultural battlefield and as a staging ground for the deployment of invasive tests and polices about what a woman is. Caster Semenya's case is instructive about how racism and intersexism end up collaborating in the transphobic hysteria ongoing in women's sport.

Field Hockey - Playing in a Wolf Pack
Arriving on the lakeside campus reminded me of my youth growing up on a lake and making my heart sing. Nestled in the Finger Lakes, about an hour and a half from my home, is the quaint campus of Keuka College my sports destination for the day. Mesmerized by its charm, I parked my car behind the Recreation Center, went inside to find one of the most likeable coaches I’ve ever met – Erika Profenno smiling and ready to make learning Field Hockey my goal for the day.
Seven business women, some with field hockey experience or moms of some of the Keuka College Wolverines Women’s Field Hockey team, arrived and started networking. We met there to caravan to the field where the players were eager to teach us this historic game.  You might not know but field hockey’s origins started in the 18th-century making it one of the oldest team sports in history.  Some of the business women brought field hockey sticks, goalie pads, and shin guards to uniform up for the game.
As we arrived at the field looking over the campus and lake, the stars of the show greeted us.  They were giggly, exuberant team players ranked from freshman to seniors who play for Coach Erika. They were well- trained, well-behaved, and excited to teach a bunch of middle-aged women how to play the sport they loved on a brisk Saturday morning.  As a college student, I cherished Saturday mornings so I can’t imagine being this happy myself if I had to rise and instruct a bunch of 50-year-old women.
Led by Senior Captain Makaela Mills, we learned how to “flick”, “strike”, “drive,” and “defend.” I easily perfected the drive motion since my energy level was high, but flicking the round compact ball, that fit in the palm of my hand although larger than a golf or lacrosse ball, was a tougher move for me. My friend Jill Bates said, “I keep thinking I’m driving a golf ball and raising my arms too high behind me.”  Coach Profenno came to our rescue giving us detailed guidance.  If there is one thing I’ve learned being taught so many different sports in a small span of time it’s that it is easy to confuse strokes and movements between them. Soon we were assigned to two different teams, a mix of women and players, and lined up for two 8-minute halves for a scrimmage. FUN! I was put on the offensive line so I could score a goal. Behind me was a line of middies and then defenders and our goalie, a non-goalie player from the team who wanted to try out goal for once (she did great by the way).  I made both teams name themselves – we were called F2 – the Feminist Field Hockey Team and the other team chose the name Plan A. (check out our TikTok Video of the scrimmage at this link).
As we ran wildly chasing the ball with our sticks in front of us, we laughed and laughed and tried our best to score. I must admit I didn’t score and our team didn’t win but kudos to Plan A for their expertise and 2 goal win. At the end of the scrimmage, which I wish went longer, we gathered for a huddle, sticks in the air, and smiles on our faces for a large group photo.
We headed back to the Recreation Center to have a pizza networking party complete with a career and business discussion for us to give back to these sharp students. I gifted them each a Chicken Soup for the Soul “Running for Good” book that held my Boston Marathon story to inspire them further in life to play and give.  To my surprise, they gifted me with my very own Keuka College Wolverine Jersey #24 which I absolutely love. The experience was truly amazing. It was fun sport to learn and play - especially if you like running and being on a team. On this Monday morning, I am so proud to now be a part of the Wolf Pack – a Wolverine in heart and spirit.

are there good journalists on the woho beat you'd recommend?
Sadly a big problem we have is that a lot of very good reporters end up not being able to stay in womens hockey for a long time because a lot of outlets haven’t had a dedicated space for it, and so much is changing, but here is who I think is the best that are consistently on in no order
Here are my recommendations!
Erica Ayala and her outlet Black Rosie Media I think is THE standard in women’s hockey. Ayala had done bylines for women’s hockey in various outlets and also appeared on a few different locked on networks which can be found in muckrack here
The Ice Garden is the longest running women’s hockey blog. It’s a rotating cast and I like some authors way more than others but I think if you’re just looking for start and probably has the most extensive coverage. It’s one of the only sources to get English language coverage of international league play and a lot of times players or former players will guess write. I am also a fan of the analytical work that An Nguyen has done, for example this article. Some stuff is paywalled, some isn’t, some is paywalled then becomes available later.
Kyle Cushman has recently been on the PWHL beat specifically, including some more long form / deeper look articles as well as being at practices with information, and I’ve enjoyed his work. He mainly writes for The Score
Christine Roger of Radio Canada is probably the main French Canadian reporter for the PWHL and team Canada
Hailey Salvian of The Athletic is usually pretty credible, tho it’s very clear that she is very careful not to be critical of her inside sources in the PWHL and I think had sometimes been a little bit of a PR arm she’s not going to say something straight up false or anything and is pretty in line with hockey reporters on that stuff. That said the athletic is usually paywalled and I really do not like the athletic as a paper overall just from a “owned by the New York times who is constantly spreading transphobic misinfo.” But if you just follow her socials and stuff you’ll get the breaking news and she’s usually accurate there.
Not a journalist but if you’re just looking for an aggregate of roster transactions and rumors pwhlreport on most platforms will do that for you, I’d say they’re accurate a solid 85% of the time and it’s little opinions or anything just who what when where and why
More statistical analysis than news but I enjoy Giants in the Crease for all things goaltenders and appreciate that they do a good job with the ncaa and international goalies as well
Women’s sports highlights on twitter will get you literally every single women’s hockey highlight from every tournament ever I swear it rules. Unfortunately am unsure if they’re on other platforms
I don’t think he’ll be writing anytime soon because of his new job, but if you want to get into the data world, the PWHL Montreal director of analytics Mikael Nahabedian has a substack page
EDIT: Karissa Donkin of CBC is a recent addition to the best I’ve enjoyed!
These are just some I like that I think do a good job of keeping it straight. Unfortunately I am limited by my own language barrier and haven’t found really anyone consistently covering the SDHL or other leagues in the English language that I’ve enjoyed, but if any of my followed from other countries have their own writers who I may be missing because of this language barrier please share

Nassau County will ban transgender athletes from competing in women’s and girls sports at local facilities.
County Executive Bruce Blakeman announced the executive order, which will go into effect immediately, at a press conference on Thursday, Feb. 22.
The order applies only to female competitive sports, not co-ed or male sports. It will prevent transgender women from participating in women’s sports at all county-run facilities.
"This is not precluding anybody from participating in sports," said Blakeman. "What it is, it's identifying that there are women and girls who spend a tremendous amount of time and effort to excel and compete in their sports that are women's sports.”
Further calling the allowing of transgender women in women’s sports “bullying,” Blakeman said that “it’s a situation of fairness…it is an unfair advantage for someone who is a biological male to compete against a biological female."
He was joined by District 18 Legislator Samantha Goetz and Kim Russell, a former women's lacrosse coach at Ohio's Oberlin College who said she was terminated after speaking out against transgender athletes participating in women's sports.
New York LGBT Network President Dr. David Kilmnick condemned the move in a statement released shortly after the announcement.
“We are profoundly disappointed in Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman’s announcement of an executive order aimed at banning transgender athletes from participating in sports teams that align with their gender identity.”
Calling the order “deeply alarming,” Kilmnick said that it “not only undermines the principles of inclusivity and fairness but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes and exclusion.”
Blakeman said he did not know how many transgender athletes there are in Nassau County, but cited that between half a percent and one percent of all residents in the county identify as transgender.

The US women’s national soccer team will defend its title as world champions this summer at the FIFA Women‘s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand. The tournament will also mark the first time the US Women’s National Team will play with equal pay to the US Men’s National Team. This watershed moment was a goal of rɘ―inc, the lifestyle brand co-founded by USWNT members Tobin Heath, Christen Press and Megan Rapinoe and former member Meghan Klingenberg.
Pentagram has continued its ongoing collaboration with rɘ―inc with its latest collection, Written in the Stars, inspired by the World Cup and the trailblazing members of the USWNT. The campaign celebrates athletes, artists and activists who are making a constellation of change, illuminating the path forward, and finding their destiny. (And when teams win the World Cup, they receive a badge with stars—can the two-time US champions get their third star?)
The branding reimagines the rɘ―inc logo as a constellation, playing off the hyphen in the mark with a network of lines that are used to build different graphics. These include a “2023” that links the brand’s guiding principles—activism, reinvention, defying expectations, and more—in an interconnected system that visualizes equity and unity, and a group of great players globally coming together as one.
A new insignia mirrors the logo with the games’ location flipped upside down, a play on Down Under. The collection also features a variety of interpretations on the starry theme in collabs with independent designers and makers like Ryoko Rain, UN/DN, USSF, Bkr and Storied Hats.
The Pentagram team curated a special color palette for the line, giving each color a playful name that ties into women’s soccer, like “Mrs. Graham’s Green,” a tribute to Helen Graham Matthews, who founded one of the first female soccer teams in 1881; “Ranger Rose,” after Beverly Ranger, the Jamaican former footballer who helped grow the game in Germany; and “Allez Gold,” a play on the French yell for “go,” and the USWNT win at the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France, where the crowds also chanted “equal pay!”

Molly Sprayregen at LGBTQ Nation:
Four Southern states have joined together with four conservative organizations to sue the Biden administration over a recently issued rule banning anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination in education.
[...]
The idea is that it’s impossible to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity without taking sex into account, a legal argument that the Supreme Court has already used in its 2020 Bostock v. Clayton Co. ruling with respect to job discrimination.
With the new rule, any school that receives federal funding will no longer be able to discriminate against LGBTQ+ students. This could affect states and school districts with policies to out LGBTQ+ students to their parents or ban trans students from using bathrooms that correspond with their gender. The new rules could also give students who face discrimination recourse in federal courts. Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia allege in the lawsuit that the Biden administration does not have the authority to make this rule and also that it goes beyond the original intentions of Title IX, according to CBS News. The states are joined in the lawsuit by the Independent Women’s Network, Parents Defending Education, Speech First, and the Independent Women’s Law Center.
“The role of Cabinet agencies is to interpret laws as written by Congress – not to redefine the meaning of words to suit a fringe group of activists,” said Parents Defending Education president Nicole Neily in a statement, which went on to claim the rule proves “the Biden administration’s contempt for families, trumping state laws which reiterate parents’ right to access information and make decisions about issues related to their children’s gender identity in schools.” “By lowering the standard of ‘harassment’ to little more than a one-off expression of humor, satire, or parody,” Neily continued, “the free speech rights of every young learner in America has become subordinate to how the most sensitive student might interpret a phrase. This Title IX rule is both unconstitutional and immoral, and we look forward to vindicating our members’ rights in court.”
“We will fight very strongly against this rule,” added Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody (R), “just to ensure this does what Congress intended it to do, and that is provide opportunities to everyone and especially protect the security and fairness for our biological females.” Moody also claimed the new rule “is really a radical departure from what Title IX was originally meant to do.” The lawsuit alleges that the rule “conflicts with many of the state plaintiffs’ laws that govern public institutions of higher education and primary and secondary education, including laws involving harassment, bathrooms, sports, parental rights, and more.” It continues, “The rule thus impedes the state plaintiffs’ sovereign authority to enforce and administer their laws and creates pressure on the state plaintiffs to change their laws and practices.” The new rules, however, do not discuss transgender student-athletes and which teams they can play on. The DOE is reportedly planning to issue a separate rule regarding what Title IX means for sports participation.
4 Southern states are suing the Biden Administration for the right to discriminate against LGBTQ+ children over the LGBTQ+-friendly Title IX changes.

Meet: Mandy Fairbanks (26) "B-List Celebrity Swimmer"
Traits: Goofball, Loves to Swim, Romantic, Proper
Sexual Orientation: Lesbian [in the closet]
Miranda aka Mandy is an Aquarius from Windenburg but has a penthouse in San Myshuno to get away from her strict idealist family. She is a well-known swimmer, and mainly swims at the Windenburg Country Club for networking opportunities and to get away from the paparazzi. Her parents in Windenburg are eagerly anticipating when she'll meet the right man and give them a grandchild, although she doesn't want children right now and she definitely does NOT want a husband. Mandy has recently come to the realization that she's only attracted to women, although coming out to herself was hard enough. The thought of coming out to her very traditional family and her fans feels like a nightmare. Her friends who are part of San Myshuno exclusive wlw circle are very supportive of her coming out journey, but it doesn't make it less intimidating. Not to mention she's developed a crush on a hot redhead that works at the Country Club...but what will she do about it?
Her looks above include Everyday Wear (1-top image, and left), Hot Weather Wear (2), Athletic Wear (3), and Competitive Swim Wear (4-right).
