Dissonance (Resonance?) of Pentakill Viktor, AKA the Metal Herald. Brought to you by The New Tomorrow by Witherscape.
Nine Inch Nails for the vibe, StP & Slipknot for the mask and both Static-X and Steam Powered Giraffe for the face paint.
He doesn't sleep during the 48 hours before a concert and then crashes for 16.

INFESTDEAD - Satanic Serenades 2xCD
Legendary Swedish vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/producer Dan Swanö is perhaps best known for his work with EDGE OF SANITY, NIGHTINGALE, BLOODBATH, and recently WITHERSCAPE. Active since the early '90s, his career runs much deeper than this revered quartet, having produced seemingly countless bands from across the metal spectrum (OPETH, DISSECTION, KATATONIA, ASPHYX to name just a few) as well as launching or taking part in side projects including MOONTOWER, ODYSSEY, PAN.THY.MONIUM or INFESTDEAD.
The latter formed in 1993 and released two albums – Hellfuck (1997) and Jesusatan (1999) – plus EP/split releases. From the debut EP Killing Christ, vocalist Dread (TORMENTED, ex-MARDUK) and Dan had only one goal in mind: to create classic US inspired death metal like DEICIDE and MORBID ANGEL. The result was astonishing and in its remastered fashion sounds even more convincing and is blessed by Swanö’s incredible songwriting talent. Even if it’s just plain and violent death metal, Mr Swanö turns everything he touches into amazing music, be it prog or unholy extreme metal!
Satanic Serenades is an official 40+ track anthology release of the entire INFESTDEAD catalog that now shall haunt the holy again!

When the feeling dies And the seeds are sown When she calls his name And his fear of the Godless will be from afar She will steal his soul All the joy will bleed To concede for the heaven's lie See the lighting strike through the rain When the feeling dies A Death Metal love song?

THE VOIDBREATHER SELECTION: The 60 best albums of the decade (2011-2020)
It’s not an easy task to sit down and pick the favorite albums of the past decade. I mean, there are dozens of albums released every week and it’s hard to keep the count, yet to listen just a slight portion of it. When I decided to make this list, I knew that it would take a lot of my time to go through folders on my computer, making initial, much longer selection and then removing titles, one by one.
But, there were some strict rules. The first one was that only full-length albums count. So, no mini-albums, EPs, singles, compilations, etc. Secondly, one band can be listed just once. It means that even if they’ve released 2, 3 or 4 albums in a ten year period, only one album can find its place in this selection. Maybe it’s not fair for the bands that were very prolific, but only the best ones count.
The third rule is a bit of a dubious one, since a lot of people won’t find it justified. Because The Voidbreather (ex-Ciklonizacija) is the Serbian blog, I found it logical to include this many releases from my fatherland. Plus, a quality of Serbian rock and metal releases is on par with foreign ones, if anyone asks me.
Don’t get surprised if you don’t find some names from the 1st metal league: it’s not that I didn’t want to include them intentionally. I wanted to include only the albums that: 1. I have listened to the most during some period; 2. Were my first choice when I just pick something randomly; 3. Have been on my phone for a while.
I have to mention that I had a huge help from my wife who gave me her opinion about which album she liked more. It really made a stress a bit bearable when I had to cut some of the titles out. And trust me when I tell you that picking just 60 albums from a decade long span is a hell of a deal.
And so, here is our selection of the 60 best albums from the previous decade!

NAILED TO OBSCURITY: “BLACK FROST”
(This is TheMadIsraeli’s review of the new album by Nailed To Obscurity, which was released on January 11th by Nuclear Blast.)
Nailed To Obscurity is a name I’ve heard a lot, but whose music I hadn’t listened to — just too much metal to check out at any given time, really. My ignorance stretched as far as not even knowing what kind of metal they played, if you can believe it. But when I checked out the single and title track to their new album, Black Frost, I discovered immediately that this band was my thing.
Nailed To Obscurity play a style of doom-driven melodic death metal that hits an intersection of In Mourning and a lot of Dan Swanö’s recent output with Witherscape. There are, of course, hints of Opeth, which I think were pretty low-key influential on this style, but the previous influences I mentioned are definitely at the forefront.
With all that said, Nailed To Obscurity are masters of their craft, and they understand the core principle of melodic death-doom: Make it really fucking sad, and make it really oppressively fucking heavy, and keep it all at a solid groove that drags just enough but doesn’t veer into lacking momentum. The melancholy is most definitely there, and it’s mostly where I derive my In Mourning comparison. The melodies have that WEIGHTY sense of sadness to them, but the phrasing definitely falls more in line with my Dan Swanö comparison.
The vocals of Raimund Ennenga are a combination of haunting cleans and exceptionally meaty death snarls in that Swanö/Åkerfeldt tradition, and oddly his vocal style is indicative of NTO’s entire approach. Everything is really thick — the guitar tones, the drum tones, the mix in general, the emphasis on weighty minimalist riffing that employs a lot of chord work with octaves for emphasis. This album definitely delivers on every front in making everything feel visceral and powerful without diluting the dragging pace and emotive melodic aspects.
I don’t have much more to say, so I’m just going to link the advance tracks below and leave it at that. This is a great album if you’re into this style, and it’s certainly piqued my interest enough that I’ll be going through the band’s discography sometime soon as a deep dive. Black Frost is definitely one of the best albums of this new year thus far.
