Febhyurary 2025 Day 01 - Hello, World
"Hello, World! I'm Elsie and I used to work as a fisher in a tiny village off the southern coast of Vylbrand. Nowadays I live on a small tropical island in the Cieldalaes with a group of people who helped me out of trouble. It's a lovely place with even more lovely people but there is also a lot of work, so I do my best to help where I can and repay them for their kindness."

this post has been making the rounds a little bit lately so I thought I would add the context! Information about all of them (except umbrella rythian) are in my pinned post! Sips Co Episodes: Set between the prequal and episode 1 of Blackrock, Rythian guest starred in a few episodes of Sips Co (working for them to be able to steal materials to give him a head start on his magic) Teep Accidentally Killed Zoey: Not sure where the original post where they revealed this was, but Teep was originally supposed to be an Easter egg in the background of season 1 as a fun little mystery for the audience but he did legitimately shoot/kill zoey on accident, forcing him to be a part of the story as we know it today. Ringo Saves Zoey: In the explosion at the end of season 2, Zoey is able to survive partially because Ringo knocks her away from the nukes right before the explosion (thus why he is radiated and in the water with Zoey in the beginning of season 3) The Princess: This refers to the short story Rythian wrote about the backstory of the Enderdragon! She was a princess of the end (then the Realm of Dawn) and after the loss of her parents stopped at nothing to try and stop death from taking anyone else she cared about, leading to a ritual that (although technically succeeds) turns her into the ender dragon, the people of her realm into endermen, and turns her realm into the end. Umbrella Rythian: An old fandom in-joke that Rythian’s silhouette, with his cape, makes him kinda look like an umbrella (so in some older fanart he is umbrella shaped) Unplanned Nuke: I also don’t have the original post for this, but apparently the nuke wasn’t a part of the original plan for reason 2, Duncan irl decided to put it there and they worked it into the story from there. Railbros Schedule Conflict: In his 10 years of content creation stream, Rythian revealed that originally the first few episodes of season 2 were supposed to have Rythian hanging out with the Railbros and be a bit more lighthearted, but due to a last minute scheduling conflict, Rythian had to do those episodes alone (thus we got the significantly more angsty/lonely version of Rythian we know today) Cannibal Ravs: ravs originally wanted his character to be a cannibal (because of his love of NBC’s Hannibal), but Zoey didn’t want it in the series/think it would fit (but certain aspects of it are still worked in with the squid thing instead of people) Gametee Notebook Lore: In 2014 there was a Blackrock notebook sold through Gametee that included 2 passages/entries from Rythian before season 1 and the other after season 2! they are a great insight into Rythian’s mindset at those times and which ideas he tells himself to deal with his emotions (again, there is a link in my pined post for the whole text). Rythian Doesn’t Know about Squirrels: In season 3 when Zoey is naming everything she comes across, at one point she finds a squirrel and Rythian responds “oh yes a SqUiRrEl” which heavily implies that he doesn’t know what a squirrel is which I personally find hilarious.

BTS and Shipping Culture Part 2
Since I posted the first part of BTS and shipping culture, I have talked about this in numerous occasions and further explained some of my views through the asks I received. But after having a very interesting talk with some friends, I decided to add some of my thoughts in what is the second part where I want to focus on how several ship dynamics have remained unchanged throughout the years and why this particular aspect is very much related to fantasy.
Another thing that prompted me to dig a little deeper were the 3 concerts in Seoul, in particular the few interactions between Yoongi and Jimin which can be classified as shipping material. When it comes to Yoonmin, they're seen as the everlasting bickering couple. They get on each other's nerves, but they also flirt while being playful with each other. We've seen them trying to reach towards each other's hands, while separated in different carts, with a Jimin that on the last day refused to play the game, looking a lot like a cat who likes to cause trouble. And there was another part when Yoongi got close to Jimin, slightly pushing him while Jimin acted like he didn't want to take part in it. Classic Yoonmin behavior. But this behavior, or at least how it's interpreted and categorized by shippers, has been constant for years, despite the fact that both Jimin and Yoongi are not the same as when they were in their early 20s, they aged and the way people act towards their friends/coworkers is automatically influenced by that. The Yoonmin dynamic has been established years ago and hasn't really changed in the shipping eyes at all. The pair is stuck in this box that brings satisfaction to their shippers because they love to see that and this is nothing but a clear evidence that it's all just fantasy, as it ignores the development and growth of them as real people. Looking at it through a more realistic lens it's not that entertaining. And that's a crucial aspect, as shipping is an entertainment practice. Nothing wrong with that, as we're talking here about a segment of pop culture which should be fun.
If we look at other ships within BTS, we can see the same mechanism at play. A lot of them can be found across the entire K-Pop spectrum while some of them are specific to a certain group, but nonetheless established very clearly, almost from the early stages. Namkook is a ship that works perfectly for a large audience that doesn't necessarily need to take it seriously, but the dynamic is easily recognizable, as it's also something often portrayed in media as well, which is the mentor-mentee dynamic. Namkook is an interesting case because it has remained almost the same, a constant not just through the eyes of the shippers, but also because Jungkook himself has had a big part in making sure that his relationship with Namjoon is seen in a certain way. The reason why he decided to join Big Hit, his reaction to Namjoon's thighs, are all stories which became part of the BTS lore, often repeated in interviews to this day, or the ''crush confession'' in Winter Package. Before I move on to other ships, I want to be very clear here that I'm not saying that Jungkook is actively working with the company to create shipping content or that there's some manufactured plan. I don't want to be misinterpreted. When I say Jungkook has had a helping hand, I mean that when it comes to a music group, well established stories work very well, especially when they focus on positive influences and are somehow wholesome. Namkook is a very harmless ship, which is usually why it's so widely accepted by the entire fandom, a bond that can be a topic of discussion without anyone starting a ship war.
Another harmless ship would be Vmin, except here things are a bit more complex than Namkook. It's a ship that once again is widely accepted in the fandom and their dynamic has been pretty much the same. The same age friends who love each other very much, they're heavy on skinship, but due to their age, they can also have fights that are seen and talked about, which allowed us the fans see a more angry/petty side of Jimin because he can do that with his friend. Their dumpling incident has also became part of the BTS lore, ''canonized'' through the song ''Friends'' which, similar to the Namkook ship, has ended up in this form through the help of the men themselves. Jimin and Taehyung had ever since the beginning a certain type of close relationship that has remained constant through this day. Vmin are supposedly loved unanimously by the fandom because the dynamic has been the same and it's rarely questioned. No one, so to speak, has any problem with Vmin. I would say that Sope resembles Vmin more that Namkook because with Sope, Yoongi and Hobi also established their ship and are active participants, even if nowadays they're not that active as a ship. They use their ship name, they had a stage in which they sang together a trot song, and so on.
There are of course ships within BTS which either don't have much traction today as they had in the past, or they're not part of the ships that are seen romantic by the fandom in general, like each relationship that Hobi has with the Maknae line. The Hobi-Maknae line dynamic is one that is cherished by the fandom at large as Hobi acts with them as a hyung, but one who is more playful and close to the younger ones, stuck in the middle.
Jikook started with an established dynamic which offered shippers the perfect type of ship/fantasy material – the doting hyung and the maknae who is a brat that refuses him. It's very catchy and it worked well in the beginning, despite the fact that this specific dynamic has changed in the following years. But it hasn't gone away completely. Jikook shippers may write essays ''debunking'' or saying how this is not the case anymore, but that early Jikook dynamic is still used in certain parts of the fandom, in particular by other shippers who, interestingly enough, use that argument against the present ship dynamic, such as Jungkook doesn't like Jimin, Jungkook is uncomfortable. Which only proves my point, which is that shippers need well established narratives in order to not only make sense of their ship, but also other ships.
There are two ships in BTS which got out of the pre-established box of ship dynamics. Jikook, as I mentioned above, and Taekook. Both ships could have easily remained the same, as we've seen with other cases, but both ships developed throughout the years, albeit in very different ways. Of course there are residual elements that are part of the way in which shipping works in K-Pop, like the size difference, which is mostly an exaggeration, but in a lot of cases is used in the context of the more sexual aspects of the ship and in Jikook and Taekook's case, Jungkook is used in the same way in both ships. As for Taekook, their core, at least in the first years, was based on how Tae helped Jungkook get out of his shell, they became close friends and as both have mentioned before, they got scolded together a lot. Looking at BTS content, it's very clear that when Jungkook was a teenager, he acted quite childish in certain situations and Tae was the partner in crime. It's the Hyung-Maknae but who act as chingus, being goofy. There you have it, a perfect K-Pop ship dynamic that could have easily continued to be seen as that in the eyes of the shippers, just as we've seen with Yoonmin, despite the fact that both Taehyung and Jungkook have matured. Just as Yoonmin as a ship remained the same, regardless of the changes that occurred with the real people, Taekook could have taken the same path. Which really begs the question, why was the dynamic changed so much by their shippers, when they had a perfectly good ship on their hands? Why did it had to go from a harmless ship, just like most of the BTS ships, to one that is part of an entire theory in which Taekook are star crossed lovers, controlled by an evil company? The shippers went from a fun dynamic to one that is closer to a melodrama and it turned the Taekook ship into one that is no longer part of the usual fantasy ship, but a different type of fantasy.
Every ship has a base in reality, the members' personality and relationship with each other. But in order to make sense of someone's real life, a person who is still a stranger in relation to his audience who will always only reveal a few parts of himself, the shippers need to establish a baseline, consisting of a few elements that become the signature dynamic of that ship. It makes it easier to understand and not take it seriously too much. The only harmful part in this practice is that in this entire process, shippers often forget that relationships are never constant, be it of a friendship nature or a romantic one. Using well established tropes that have been there for years leads to not being able to observe the changes which can be interesting in their own way. It's definitely a more realistic approach, but who wants realism when you can have fantasy?

700 Follower Celebration: A Writing Journey (1/?)
Hey guys! So, to celebrate this milestone I’ll be doing a series of posts talking about how my wip has changed, their inspirations, my growth as a writer. though it’s only been maybe 2? years since I started writeblr, I’m pretty sure I, and my works, have undergone *many* a transformations. And speaking of transformations, this post is dedicated to the journey of my most fickle and ever-changing wip: When Comes the Dawn
The first WIP I ever introduced to tumblr – and my first multi-chapter project ever is When Comes the Dawn, a fantasy/court-intrigue tale featuring court politics, magic, death-defying princesses, and cloak-and-dagger schemes. It is the story I hold near and dear to my heart, even if I do have an on-again-off-again relationship with it. But the story you know now is vastly different to what it used to be. Really, the only thing remotely similar to WCTD and its predecessors are Charles and Fenice (and that’s just their names!)
WCTD started out as a very ambitious high fantasy AU fanfiction with a highly convoluted story line that existed, predominantly, in a 1,500 word prologue and hours upon hours of daydreaming. It did not help that, paranoid little gremlin that I was against people who might look over at my word doc by chance, I coded all of the names of these fanfic characters, keeping only the first letter the same. This eventually led to a detachment between the OG source material and my own work and I just ended up scrapping the entire thing and keeping my cast of (now original) characters. Thus began the era of Chronus. Or, proto-WCTD as I sometimes refer to it.
Chronus had very little connection to present day WCTD except for the name Charles, Fenice, and the three gods that created and watched over the universe. In WCTD, the Trinity were more akin to the gods we have today; igures of worship, omnipresent, with not a lot of proof for their existence except faith-- and I’m saying this as a Catholic. In Chronus, they were actual characters. The gods of Creation/Life, Destiny, and Time/Death (the latter being named Chronus so y’all know where I got the name) watch over the world and intervene when they need to. The lore of the story: through some convoluted circumstance, Chronus ends up dying which is a pretty big bummer since, y’know, his death left the entire universe in stagnation and nothing could die. Uh, the logic gets iffy around here but just understand that Creation and Destiny managed to save the universe but are forced to enlist select humans into being temporary gods of death in exchange for granting their desire. Fenice was one of these humans, Charles was a part of her “wish,” and...more convoluted plot stuff that I honestly can’t remember.
I hated how I spent more time trying to logic the entire plot and ended up scrapping the entire thing. After taking a few months break from this story, I started again by recycling characters and concepts I like. And once again we are left with Fenice, Charles, and the Trinity.
I recycled the backstory I used for Fenice and Charles which had them as royals; a prince and princess caught in the midst of a succession game a la War of Roses. Here, Fenice Alexandra and Charles Alexander were twins tied at the hip, on the run from their power-hungry uncles and planning a way to reclaim their birthright. I made it through a few chapters, a bit of outlining, and weeks of thinking before I found myself dissatisfied with this story and scrapping it once again. Around this time, I realized I wanted to add magic but not have magic and magical fights be a huge part of the story, so I feel like adding an adventure element would be counterproductive. I also got the idea of a world where everyone had magic, but one of the main characters did not.
I played around with Fenice and Charles’ relationship for a while. One had Fenice being the significantly younger sibling with magic and Charles the older and without (the opposite of where we are today). In every iteration of the story I always had Fenice as the main POV character, so with this set-up, to create conflict, I had the idea of Fenice not wanting the throne (despite being the chosen heir and more than qualified for the position) scheming to get Charles the crown instead (what Charles wants be damned). Others had this same setting but with Charles still being chosen as heir despite not having magic (which was apparently the number one unspoken rule of succession) which created resentment in Fenice...and made proto-Dantalion (called William at the time) look like a fool. But both these scenarios were just...not something I was particularly interested in. Fenice was insanely OP, everyone looked stupid to me, and honestly? It just seemed boring.
I knew I was close to a break through, so I decided to switch it. Fenice, the elder sibling without magic, who, by a tragic twist of fate, had everything that should be hers instead given to her younger brother. Then, I separated them; the elder lived away from court, the younger lived close to it to wipe away as much chances of them getting along. Then, I worked on their parents. Here, Dantalion, Illysandre, and Titania came into existence. Then, more characters, more plot lines; I connected relations, brewed up even more backstory and lore to make sense of this plot line, steeled myself from making a spin-off prequel, etc. etc. Finally, WCTD reached where it is today. I have no doubt that it’ll still go through massive changes in the future, but for what it is now? It’s the closest I’ve ever been to the story I want to tell.

Webtoons are good for the soul [Long post] [but worth it] [hopefully]
Bit of a long one (for a change...), sorry.
I haven’t read that many that’s a lie but here are my favs!
Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe [ongoing - every Sunday]
or when Hades met Persephone. It’s a love story, fluffy yet deep and sad at times. Very well told and with incredible art (as you can see from the cover ci-dessus), in a pastel/watercolour fluid style, as is the storytelling. It has compelling characters, character growth, love, funny moments, and basically the best you could ask from a romantic story. And it had enough material to get you through good number of hours of reading before you have to break down every sunday in wait of the following week like the rest of us.
mah-hart-mah-sole/10
Love Advice From the Great Duke of Hell by unfins [ongoing - every Friday]
Paul is in love with a cute girl who works in a café nearby. But Paul is shy and can’t work out how to go ask her out. So Paul does what anyone would do and summons one of the Great Dukes of Hell in order to get better at fumbling his sentences and blushing at beautiful maidens. It’s about discovery of one’s true self and how getting deep into shenanigans will lead you to find so much more. Also, sister. (You’ll understand when you get there.)
It’s funny but also compelling and serious but still incredibly funny. I don’t think I’ve laughed as much reading any other webtoon and yet the story is also really cool. It strikes a perfect balance, or near perfect. The expressions and the action scenes are just incredible too.
chenandeler bong/10
Suitor Armor by Purpah [ongoing - every Friday]
In a land with magic and war between humans and fairies, Lucia is the princess’s lady in waiting and her only goal in life at the moment is to get her Lady to have the wedding she wishes for and deserves. But then she gets a flower from a magic armor and everything changes. Also, she’s a fairy.
It’s well drawn, characters all seem unique, varied and personnality-driven. The art style is beautiful. It’s also deeper than what I expected, with inklings of different types and levels of drama.
Alright, I’ll say it, it feels like a ‘promising new Lore Olympus’. By which I mean not to compare but simply to say I felt as taken by the story as I did with L.O.
Modeus/10
Facing the Sun by ArtbyTesslyn [ongoing]
Aarya reaserches the intricacies of dobotics and artificial intelligence with her companion robot Liza who's expiration is long everdue. Things change with a hardware update. One can’t live without the other, and neither can the other.
It’s dark but beautiful, both in the art and in the story. The sci-fi elements aren’t overwhelming and pieces of lore bring begin to pain a picture over time. It’s a slow burn but oh lord! if it isn’t going to be blazing hot...
I Robot/10
Spellbound by Ronce [ongoing]
Eglantine joins a new highschool midyear and finds herself paired with a refractarian roommate. She does her best to fit in to her new school despite not conforming to all the expectations that others might have of her. Or of her strange but likeable roommate.
It’s a cute and queer little romance, very underrated in my opinion. The art is wonderful, it’s black and white in the beginning and starts having touches of colour here and there before going full blown coloured, and I didn’t even realize it had until many chapters into it... The characters all all diverse and interesting. Also did I forget to say it’s set in France and it’s a wizarding school? Because it is!
conseiller principal d’éducation/10
180 Angel by King Katbird [ongoing]
Chloe is an angel, she lives in Heaven and goes to school in the hopes of becoming a delivery angel one day! However her plan are compromised by her inability to do anything well except halo manipulation. Even flying is not easy for her. But a fateful meeting with a reaper sends her on a trip to Hell and back which changes her. Or is it that she had always been different?
It may not seem much from the banner but I tried it and I got hooke. The art is great and still improves over time, the plot takes a bit of time to set in - I’m still not sure it’s fully set in yet - but it’s worth it, and the characters are visually deep. It sometimes jumps weirdly between scenes or sequences but not so much it completely loses you.
LAMP/10
Letters on the Wall by JaelynGs [ongoing]
Tara comes back fom spain after a five years abroad to find things have changed and others haven’t, to her equal pleasure and dismay. This is how she and her friends deal with these old relatioships that they are now reviving.
Everything doesn’t go smoothly despite each and every character deserving them to. The art is good to begin with and manages to improve over time, as well as the storytelling. Where it might have been a bit hectic before, it smoothes over time. It was for the longest time the only reason I would stalk Webtoons everyday to see if there was any updates. Also each chapter has a colour in the name and that’s just cool!
If Da Yomanville Gang [see below] got me to come to Webtoons, this sealed the deal for me to stay. [And then there was Lore Olympus.]/10
Not So Shoujo Love Story by Curryuku [ongoing - every Tuesday]
Rei Chan-chan loves Hansum, the chin chin chinny goodest looking student, more than she loves her shoujo manga. But gorgeous Hannah is in her way and won’t seem to let her get her way with him. Why is that? Well, gaybe there’s a secret hidden behind her motives? Read it to find out...
It’s funny, it’s cute, and it’s so, so stupid. I love them all. It’s dumb but so much fun to read. There aren’t that many chapters yet but enough to get into it. Also, sisters. (You’ll understand when you get there. Bis) So this is what the spring of youth feels like, huh...
chips/10
Always Human by walkingnorth [completed]
Sunati, a young engineer in training, fan of all those mods you can add to change your appearance, meets Austen, a beautiful yet modless girl who she’s been admiring from afar for a while now. She thinks the girl’s beautiful, but sdly she’s refused when she asks her out on a date, and for rather good reasons.
Now watch as they gravitate around each other and how it influences them both.
It’s a slow-burn quite realistic lesbian sci-fi story about finding love and accepting oneself and others in the midst of life and all it brings upon us. It’s cute, it’s fluffy, and it’s heartwarming despite broaching serious subjects - in a good way -, and it’s finished so you can read the whole thing! (It has enough chapters to give you a few hours of reading)
hay fever sucks/10
Da Yomanville Gang by Jason King [ongoing - every Tuesday]
Layla moved recently, to get away from a dose of angst she didn’t want to have to deal with. She meets new people, fun and friendly people, but it seems the angst can’t quite seem to leave her alone. Alone is what she’s not to deal with it anymore, however.
This is the one, long before Lore Olympus, which brought bme over to Webtoons. It’s not the best drawn, not the most compelling, but the strong point and what made me love it - beyond Layla’s chara design - is the depth of most of the characters, how not all good is good and all bad is bad, and reality often lies in the middle - and how they evolve over the course of the story. Definitely worth a read.
wheelbarrow/10
Love Bot by Chase Keels and Miranda Mundt [ongoing - every Sunday]
In the near future - the year is (Blade Runner) 2049 - technology has advanced enough to creat pseudo-artificial intelligence and thus lovebots. Xada mods and repairs those emotionnaly intelligent robots for a living. What brings this story about is him toying with a less-than-friendly client’s bot so much so that he finds himself in quite a pickle when the bot ‘wakes up’.
It seems to be BL. Let it be BL, please! The art is very nice, the story feels dark but the pitch give way to many interesting possibilities, and, well, the characters are quite nice to look at, I’ll admit... Also, angst. I don’t always enjoy it but when I do, I do.
Not many chapters but it’s getting there.
i’ll let you bot my love/10
Mage & Demon Queen by Color_LES [ongoing - every Thusday]
Malori is the best and the most promising mage student at her school. Aided by Cerik, her best friend and swordsman party member, she attempts to conquer the last floor of the demon tower, reigned over by the ferocious Velverosa, the demon queen, whose defeat will bring glory and richess to those who defeat her. But all is not quite as it seems and, what is that, might it be a crush I see over there? Oh, wait, no, that’s just our protagonist getting squished by the weight of her love...
Once again, it’s fun and stupid (a pattern? noooo) but it’s worth a read.
LES/10
Down to Earth by Pookie Senpai [ongoing - every Tuesday]
Kade live alone and depressed in spite of fleeting relatioships since his big breakup, content with simply going by life while he works in retail. One day, an alien crashes into his backyard. Zaida’s an alien but she’s cute, seems innocent, is unfamiliar with everything, so he agrees to help. Thus begins a slice of life story of them roommating in his appartment until, maybe, one of them crashes into the other’s heart?
It’s cute, heartwarming, and I sort f relate with the main character. Although I don’t know if’d prefer a cute alien, a dragon or a stalking neighbour... [that’s an inside joke, I’ll explain if I ever make a list of the good yamete onii-chan! I’ve been reading] It’s a slow burn with enough depth to hook you up. Some characters are still uncertain in my eyes but that makes me curious.
loner/10
The Remarried Empress by Alphatart / Sumpul [ongoing - every Wednesday and Sunday]
Navier Ellie Trovi is an empress. Perfect and perfectly content in every way with her life until the day a mistress enters her husband’s life. Things sort of go downhill from there. Or do they? For she also learns about herself and what she might actually want out of life to be happy. Breaking the status quo might be the way.
It feels like one of those poor quality isekai comics or manga in which the MC is brought back to a time where she has the power to change her life and decides for emancipation and revenge, but it’s not. It’s more ‘yolo’ and had interesting characters, especially the MC - no pushover - and a slow-burn plot. Don’t expect to see the flash-forward in the first chapter quite yet, but come to experience the whole affaire in detail and in the most satisfying of ways! Also the art is cool!
divorce/10
Muted by Miranda Mundt [ongoing - every Friday]
On her 21st birthday, Camille fails the ritual to become a full-fledged witch and is isolated from what remains of her old and successful family. This leads to her discovering truths about herself and her powers that will change her and those around her.
By the same author as Love Bot. I haven’t read the whole thing yet but the designs are good, the plot is interesting, the characters have depth and personnality, it has witches, magic, romance [I guess, still unsure of the details though], a bit of angst, and it’s set in Louisianna. All good points.
plant magic/10
Cursed Princess Club by LambCat [ongoing - every Monday]
Gwendolyn and her sisters, each a princess in their own right, are set to be betrothed to three princes of a neighbouring country after living all their lives happy and sheltered with their father and brother. Unfortunately, Gwendolyn is not like her sisters - and brother, for that matter - in that her beauty is... less than conventionnal. Devastated by what outsiders think of her she escapes into the forest and meets kindred spirits in the form of the Cursed Princess Club - non-gendered, they also have that one prince there! - and it might just help her grow into the confident woman she is destined to become.
I clicked for the funny hahas ‘because she’s ugly’ and cursed princess trope, I stayed for the genuine laughs and smiles and the heartwarming good nature of most of te characters. Also, haha, funny characters are funny. So, yeah, I started this with a bias - still haven’t caught up yet - and have been seduced by this lesser known webtoon. Don’t let the visuals fool you, it’s really good!
respect wahmen/10
Andy Bass by KenneDuck / Gia [ongoing - every Friday]
Andy Bass is our average highschool girl. Litterally. She’s half human, half fish, a real mermaid but vertically. That leads to less-than-friendly looks and reactions from others. However, the arrival of a new, and frankly very cute, transfer student might change all that.
Haven’t read it all yet, not that there are many chapters out, but it feel fun and promising. Also, physically imperfect characters are best characters. Down with the reign of beauty and up with 𝔠𝔬𝔪𝔪𝔲𝔫𝔦𝔰𝔪!
Chin Hansum 2.0/10
For the Sake of Sita by Haga [completed]
A medical student passionately falls in love with a fallen goddess during his volunteer abroad in Nepal, and he desperately tries to fight off destiny to save his love. [the actual summary]
Okay, I’ll be honest: I haven’t quite read that one yet. I’m guilty of only having looked at the beginning and the end to see if it seemed worth it and, oh my gorsh! it does. The art is beautiful, the story seems sad yet beautiful too (I had tears reading the last chapters without knowing much of the rest) and it’s short, so jump on it!
[I’ll probably come back to that later when I’ve actually read it completely]/10
Us Right Now by yurineseventeen [ongoing]
Rina's long-term girlfriend, Noa, decides to run away from home. Rina has limited time to find her.
Not much more to say other than it’s sweet and it feels real. I like the beginning, haven’t read the rest yet, but will definitely soon.
keep going/10
New Normal: Class 8 by Youngpaka [ongoing - every Sunday]
Dongwoon has a big head. It does not make life easy. But what if he wasn’t alone being so... different? He discovers it is the case when he joins his new school a special class full of people who are different. Things get weird fast but also better and fun.
I haven’t read this in a long time, it’s on my list though. But until the moment I stopped at least, it was fun, funny, and interesting. It’s slice-of-life comedy, often ligthearted and stupid, sometimes more serious, but globally a pleasure to read.
sensei/10
The Witch and The Bull by Moonsia [ongoing - every Thursday]
Tan's job as the King's royal advisor has nothing to do with his hatred for witches, but it does make him a prime target for a curse that turns him into a BULL! The only way to undo this hex is to rely on the beautiful witch, Aro. Can her kindness turn his feelings around, and break this spell? [the actual summary]
There are two bulls and they have to ask it questions to know which is the real bull? I dunno, I haven’t read this one... But it’s been recommnded by @berigolote so it’s worth a try I guess? She did recommend Lore Olympus to me, so it’s on my list anyway.
to try/10
The Right Knight and Our Days in Lumain by buttersphere [completed & ongoing]
A fun short comic about a play on the ‘knight comes to fight dragon to save princess in her tower’ trope and it’s sequel. The sequel is not finished yet (seems on hiatus) but they are worth the read for cute, funny, fluffy knight and dragon/witch romance and grumpy princesses.
need more/10
NetOL by Forever9Nine [completed]
A slice of life comic about a veeery shy cat-girl (not literally) falling in love with a warm-tempered bookshop employee ( and NOT her colleague), and all the shenanigans that ensue. It’s short, it’s fun, and it’s cute. What more to ask?
oh wow sports/10
Susuhara is a Demon by Soya S. Holm [ongoing]
The usual romance storyof perfectly perfect girl meets absolutely bazongers delinquent and reluctantly carries her unconscious ass to her appartment to help her after witnessing a gang fight between multiple idiots and her (future) idiot and saving her from a knife attack by bashing the last standing dude with a wooden shop sign. Legend says there’s a demon in K-city, I still am unsure of whom it might be.
fun/10
It Stems From Love by Soya S. Holm [competed]
A short story about a girl who loves flowers and finds herself unexpectedly coughing them up dramatically whenever she’s jealous of those around her crush. It’s short, it’s cute, a bit dark at times, but definitely worth a read!
bouquet final/10
Lesbiampires by fabarts [ongoing]
So, yeah, lesbian vampires. Nuffin’ ta add.
Well, anyway, it’s cute, it’s funny, it’s serious too, it makes me root for antihero type characters who actually murder people for fun (but in a fun and respectful way, I swear!) because, well, love./10
Perfect Harmony by bluebloodtanuki [ongoing]
An Overwatch fan-comic about Symmetra and her disaster roommates.
I don’t play Overatch but I like the lore and got dragged into fanfiction and shipping (by myself, mind you), so a fan-comic about similar dynamics AND it’s funny? Gimme.
Roadhog & Junkrat best duo/10
Love Doesn’t Talk by Ann [completed?]
A misunderstanding is fine. Two? Hmmm. Three? Surely that’s fate, no?
A cute love story unfolding before your eyes with no dialogue, only pretty pictures. I’m not actually sure it’s completed but even if it isn’t, the ending doesn’t feel disappointing in the least.
no words/10
AntiSTALKER by VOKIVORMOK [ongoing - every Thursday]
Humans, vampires and werewolves all cohabitate in this freaky highschool, despite tensions between the three races. A bittersweet yet fun love story between a fake stalker and his amnesiac prey...
Eugene wants Kira’s heart, she wants his head.
who?/10
Kiss It Goodbye by Ticcytx [ongoing]
Two lesbians in love recount to their drunk friends the story of how they met. It’s fun and cute, both in story and in art.
delinquent x prim&proper/10
Avril and the Divine Being by Charlie Genmor [ongoing]
Avril is a waitress, Cat is a reccuring client. Feeling blossom before they even exchange words and when they finally do, embarassment ensues.
I got hooked by the art style for this one and I have yet to be disappointed. Not many chapters but keep it close.
sunny/10
Sunflower by EtoileKonijn [ongoing]
Wednesday, an art student, meets Sophie, a friend of a friend. Feelings ensue. It’s beginning to have a good number of chapters (even if they are short) and it feels like it’s actually the slowest burn of them all. Very much worth a read though, for the art style especially.
cute/10
It Takes Two by love_of_pi [ongoing]
Common art style: imperfect but improving. Classic story: normal girl meets famous girl by accident and leave a great first impression. Shenanigans and romance ensue. However the tints of drama, the fun interaction between characters, and the smooth plot make it worth it.
Honolulu latte/10
A Mild Flavor by Ru-rin [ongoing]
A slice of life of different couples. One with a compromised relationship and bittersweet reflections of the past, and the other which is hidden from plain sight, at different times if life. It is not perfect but it managed to worm its way into my heart nonetheless.
tasty/10
The Greenhouse by Viesallon [ongoing]
Another one I haven’t read, but from the extracts I’ve seen the art is compelling, the story seems worth it - definitely deserves the drama tag it seems - and I keep it on my shortlist until I have time to read it.
supernatural/10
My Masochistic Boss by Arisas_Art [ongoing]
Debuting goth writer meets hellish boss of editing company about her new book. Disagreement and tensions ensue. It starts with a slap and might very well end in bed, stay tuned!
This one rebooted recently and the art is soooo beautiful, moreso than before is I may say.
sexy/10
Still Alive by Comic Kat19 [ongoing]
Half-zombie girl meets emo boy, baby ensues.
After the zombie apocalypse, they have to survive, and despite their differences, maybe together is better?
This I classify in the ‘Yuuutsu-kun to Succubus-san‘ category: a somewhat rough art style that I have come to love and enjoy greatly. Also the story is fun.
cat creature/10
The Biggest of Treasures by Aixn [ongoing]
That smile, that damn smile. It’s what got me to try and it got me to stay. The art style is beautiful and the chara designs is too. The plot? Not much to say yet, but cuteness is enough.
bright/10

And there you go for now. These are my picks. I haven’t read everything on Webtoon, I haven’t even read everything I’ve subscribed to, but if I had to recommend anything I have tasted, here it is.
Sorry if I missed any you deem worthy; feel free to harass me and mock my lack of culture by flaunting your own.
Maybe more later, in the mean time: keep scrolling, scrub!

Updates | Vday Sketches
I thought I’d post an update, so you guys know why I haven’t been posting. It’s nothing really serious, but I’ve been taking some time to spend with my wife before she starts a very long solid week of work with no time off, taking care of the apartment for her, ect.
I’ve had back pain, sciatica pain again as well as nightmares, so my sleep hasn’t been good..
I haven’t had any inspiration for poor William and Henry lately, but it is something I want to get back to. My interests change often, but I don’t want to abandon this ship anytime soon. I would be updating the fic, but I can’t get the middle sorted out. I haven’t sat down to finish Resurrection Seeker, although I’d say the last few chapters are about 50% done. As for the comic, I’ll upload that tomorrow. Out of pure laziness / back pain I haven’t finished coloring the most recent pages, but I’ve been looking forward to specific scenes and I really want to put my all as each page goes, hopefully improving the quality.
You have all been amazing, leaving lots of kudos. I appreciate that. I feel guilty for the lack of updates...
I admit what energy I have had has gone to my game, which still doesn’t have a name. I think I’ve almost worked out a plot I am happy with. I’m going to watch some horror movies today and get some inspiration. I’ve also been watching a lot of RPG Maker horror games (if you haven’t watched FlareBlitz, I highly recommend him... wife made fun of me because she says he sounds like PJ. If FB could read a little smoother, maybe. Nonetheless, FB is great for some relaxing RM content. Sadly, he’s doing a lot of VNs lately and it’s really not my thing.)
Anyway, to actual speak of my game, I’m really trying to figure out my story while mapping, which is probably a mistake, but I’d rather have a realistic house for a map that realistically conforms to the story. Having said that I realize that games like Pocket Mirror and Crooked Man stand out as my favorites and I’d like to include some fantasy elements at some point, but how to make it work with my grounded supernatural settings my work is set in is difficult.
Other random stuff I added to my to-do list is to make a Thousand Arms FNF Mod, but uh, it’s about 20 sprites not counting the death ones [just for the BF] (which I probably will only mildly modify). Then those 15 or so sprites must be copied / lowered a few times each to match the sprite sheet. This project is something very far off my radar, but I wanted to mention it.
So, right now my plans are to finish a chapter of something even if it’s typing up the first chapter of my MichaelxCharlie story, and post it. Second, work out my game’s plot a bit more. I have to establish this story with my 12 book long novels, which isn’t as hard as it sounds since this is near what I call “the end of the timeline” and I am planning with a sequel in mind. So, I want this game to have a lot of vague lore that gets answered in Part 2.
I just hope you can all support me in my game endeavors. I want to finish it by Easter. It’s isn’t my first RM title, but it’s something I would easily love to make a living out of someday.
Oh, and for some FNAF related stuff, we finally tracked down Glamrock Chica’s plush the other day when spending time with a friend. We still haven’t found Frostbear, unfortunetly. I’m going to have to pay scalpers for Chocolate Bonnie and Frostbear, sadly. The next book will come out in a month or so, IIRC? Gumdrop Angel? I don’t know if I’ll have anything to add for that. I also finished the Twisted Ones GN, so I’m out of material to read. Except to find that Google Drive post about the Shadow animatronics and read about them... because I intended to start a YT channel, but I’m too shy. I can’t do it without anyone to bounce my ideas off of and my wife is busy.
I will be taking a haitus between 2/20 and 2-28. My wife has vacation and we also moved our V-Day celebration to then. So, don’t expect too many updates that week, especially early on as we’ll be out of town visiting families.
I think I’ve rambled too much. If you made it this far, thank you..
Edit: Someone on twitter wanted Willry V-Day art. I might try my hand at it so I did some sketches... Springtrap literally giving his heart, Charlotte as flower girl (Henry has a plaid tux and William has bunny accessories), and then a scene from Resurrection Seeker.

Cult Classic
I had a really exhausting week, so I’m going to try to chill out by writing this thing about cults that’s been bouncing around in my head since... oh, like January 6th? For some reason? But it’s also about my insanely long OC fanfic slash vanity project slash concept album. Join me, won’t you?
Okay, so back in... geez 2018? Has it been that long? Around October 2018 I started working out the details for the big climax of the “1000 years ago” section of my fanfic. From the start I had this idea that the Legendary Super Saiyan would be locked into a death struggle with pretty much the entire Saiyan population, led by a Saiyan King who just can’t handle being upstaged. But I had to figure out a lot of details to make that actually work. What I finally ended up with was the Jindan Cult.
Why a cult? Because I wanted my King character to be the main villain, but also be physically weaker, but also he needed to be powerful enough to challenge the heroine. I came up with all these different ways to beef up his power level without making him a Super Saiyan himself, but ultimately I wanted him to have an army of Siayans at his back. That led me to consider some sort of magic elixir that would make them all stronger, but especially the king, since he’s ultimately in this for himself. At first, I considered having him mind-control all of his goons, but I spent the mind control nickel in earlier arcs, and I’ll have to use it again later, because Towa and Demigra use it. Then I thought of drug addiction, which is sort of like mind control but not literal brainwashing or anything like that. And that led me to the cult concept.
One major inspiration for me was the real-life cult called “NXIVM”, which made the news back in 2018 when their leaders started getting arrested, including “Smallville” star Allison Mack. Every time I read about it, it felt like something from a movie, but it was real. I guess the celebrity angle made it more bizarre to me, because it’s sort of like “Hey, this isn’t just some group of randos; someone you’ve heard of is in this thing.” Not that I ever paid much attention to “Smallville”, but you get the idea. She didn’t just join NXIVM, she eventually became one of the top recruiters. Some of the character arcs in my fic were my own attempt to understand how a person goes from Point A to Point B.
The big plot hole, though, in my mind, was that I came up with this whole master plan for the bad guys, but it involved sending wave after wave of Saiyan cultists to die in pointless, unwinnable battles against Luffa. I couldn’t have them win much, because if they beat her, they’d just kill her, and the story would be over. It struck me as fishy that these Saiyans would sign up for a war where the casualty rate is 100%, but I tried to lampshade it as best I could. “Yeah, all those other chumps couldn’t beat Luffa, but I’ll pull it off because I’m special!” It still seemed a bit unlikely.
But then 2020 happened, and I guess the main thing I learned from that year was that people will accept almost anything in order to believe a comfortable lie. The joke I’ve seen on the internet is that we need to retire the expression “avoid it like the plague”, because it turns out a lot of people don’t actually avoid plagues very well at all. The horrifying thing about COVID-19 is how easily people will accept the climbing death tolls. “Oh, well this person was already in bad health, so they would have died eventually anyway.” I don’t want to get too political here, but I’m pretty sure a lot of the anti-mask, coronavirus-is-a-hoax crowd are the same people who made up tall tales about “death panels” in Obamacare. “They’re gonna euthanize your grandma!” they would say, but now they say your grandma is acceptable losses if it means reopening bars and restaurants.
Actually, I do mean to get political, because holy fuck, Qanon stormed the Capitol Building. Look, if you don’t believe Joe Biden won the election, I don’t know what to tell you, except please get far away from me, right now. If you’re not familiar with Qanon, a few years ago some guy on an image board posted a bunch of cryptic messages and claimed to be an important government figure who would know about important things. People started “deciphering” his “clues” and when he stopped posting new ones they started inventing their own “clues” and interpreting them any way that suited them. This led to an overarching narrative that Donald Trump was actually part of this massive sting operation to arrest hundreds, maybe thousands of left-wing politicians, celebrities, and whoever else. Any day now, he was supposed to have Hilary Clinton arrested, and also JFK Junior would somehow show up and help him, even though he’s been dead for 22 years. Every day, these Qanon guys would add on more bizarre lore to their “theories”, and every day none of their predictions would come true. Then Trump lost the election, which put them in a bind, because their whole mythology is based on the idea of him saving the world as POTUS, and now he wasn’t even going to be POTUS for much longer.
I’m pretty sure this had a lot to do with the lies about election fraud. Trump himself refused to accept defeat, and his supporters didn’t want to accept it either, so they all told each other that it wasn’t real, and they believed each other so much that they dug in their heels. But then they’d take this stuff to court and the judge would be like “Uh, what evidence do you have of mass voter fraud?” and they would just be like “lol nvm!” I mean, if there was proof for any of this, why would they not want a judge to see it? But for Qanon, it was more than just being sore losers. They needed all their whackamaroo predictions to come true, and Trump losing re-election would upset the applecart.
So then they started telling themselves that they could win this thing through the boring certification process. I think it was like, December 14 when all the states had to certify their results. So they held out hope that nothing was over until then. Then they pinned their hopes on the Electoral College, and that there would be enough faithless electors to hand Trump the victory, in spite of the voters. I found this one amusing, since I used to see tumblr suggesting the same thing back in 2016, when they were still trying to come up with ways for Bernie Sanders to win.
Then they decided Mike Pence could fix everything, because on Jan 6, Congress would officially count the Electoral Votes and formally declare the winner, and Mike Pence would step in and overrule the whole thing, because the Vice-President oversees that process. Except he just oversees it, he can’t legally change the outcome, especially on a whim. And then the riot at the Capitol happened, and I’m pretty sure all these Qanon types thought it would mark the beginning of a nationwide uprising, with all seventy-odd million Trump voters going apeshit, but it... didn’t work out that way.
Then they convinced themselves that everything was building to January 20, because the innauguration was actually a clever trap, and once Joe Biden took the oath of office, he could then be arrested for treason, so you see, they had to make it look like Trump lost the election, because it was the only way to fool Joe Biden into incriminating himself... or... something. But Jan 20 came and went, so the latest fallback position I heard was that there’s a double-secret REAL inauguration day, and it’s in March, and the January 20 one isn’t legitimate, even though Trump was inaugurated on January 20, 2016, but whatever. That, or the guy we see in the White House now is actually Trump disguised as Joe Biden, or a Joe Biden android or something.
I think I sort of understood that Qanon is a cult, but I didn’t really put the pieces together until the events of January unfolded. Pre-November, it just seemed like a conspiracy theory, without any real timetables or prophecies, like Flat Earth. But once the end of the Trump Administration was in sight, it really started to look like all the doomsday cults I’ve heard about over the years. The predicted events wind up failing to come true, and they invent new predictions to explain away the old ones. It’s not about the veracity of the claims as much as the claims themselves. People want to believe there’s this whole elaborate explanation for everything. They wanted to believe that Trump was this hypercompetent superheroic messiah, because the alternative is to face the uncertain reality: that he had no idea what he was doing, and real people were going to suffer for it.
I think I sort of worked that idea into my fictional cult, but I backed into it. NXIVM was a sex cult, not a doomsday cult, or an elaborate conspiracy theory, so I was mostly fixated on all the depraved things the cult could do to its members. But they all share the same lure: a belief system that promises to make everything fit. I’m not sure what the hook was for NXIVM, but Allison Mack didn’t go in thinking about how much fun sex trafficking would be. That came later, after she was convinced that NXIVM had all the answers, and one of those answers involved sex crimes, apparently. In the same vein, Qanon attempted to explain mass arrests and executions by claiming that Hilary Clinton eats babies or something. “Well, I don’t want babies to get eaten, so I guess breaking into the Capitol building seems like a reasonable course of action.”
Weighed against real life, a bunch of Saiyans accepting a 100% casualty rate doesn’t seem so outrageous. It also helps that sometimes the leaders of these groups can buy into their own hype, and think they’re infallible when they’re really not. This week, I started reading the Darth Plagueis novel again, and I’ve seen the Sith from Star Wars referred to as a cult, but I never gave it a lot of thought until I noticed that Plagueis buys into the whole Dark Side of the Force thing a little too hard. At times, he’ll wax philosophical about how the Jedi are the real bad guys when you think about it, and he’s not just saying that to be manipulative. He honestly believes that the Sith can save the galaxy from decline, which is stupid and hypocritical, because they’re the ones causing all the decline. I always got the impression that Darth Sidious understood that it was all about accumulating power as an end unto itself, and any high-minded talk of necessary evil was just to keep the rubes in line. Rise of Skywalker plays into that idea nicely. He somehow survived Episode VI, but he let the Empire collapse, because if he can’t rule it, he doesn’t want it to exist at all. But he’s still playing himself, because he thinks he can win by following the same failed ideology that got all the previous Sith Lords killed.
That’s pretty much all I have to say about it right now. I need to move on to other topics, because Towa’s not doing a cult thing, so my fic is moving in a different direction. But I feel better for getting this out of my head.

Hello people of the crazy spn fandom, how are we doing? (not well)
Wanna read some headcanons?
Since the finale, which brought me a new flavour of disappointment, I started to create a list of made up facts/headcanons (don't know how to call it better) of what should in my opinion happen to characters instead. Points about Dean and Cas from this list are slowly turning into my first actual fanfic, but points about Sam and Eileen are more difficult to write into a short story, so for now they are just staying as facts in a list. And I decided to post them here.
Will anyone ever read it? - Probably not.
Will that logical fact stop me? - Definitely not.
I'm going to post these ideas in order, one in each post. They can't count as actual fanfics, but they are long
Side note: I do not accept 15×20 as canon. Nope. It doesn't exist. I chose to completely ignore it, and by now I successfully erased it from my memory. Except for the part that in a few years Sam has a son named Dean (actually not really, but I'm going to call him that for simpler understanding, if you read it you will later find out why). And also Miracle the dog stays, he is a good boy and deserves the best.
I also should mention that in my imaginary world they saved Cas. And I have an idea how, and I think it's a good idea, but that's for another time, 'cause for that part I'm actually writing a fic (and it's becoming longer and longer, I don't know how to stop, it's out of control, please send help)
So they all know now that Cas is alive and he is okay.
Also you should keep in mind that English is my second language which I didn't study properly like a normal person but instead learned purely by watching tv shows, so feel free to kick my ass for any mistakes, there's probably a lot here.
If you read this shit below and liked it at least a little bit, please live something in the notes to make me feel less lonely and useless. Thanks :з
So, too much words, huh? Here is the first headcanon idea:
SAM WRITES A BOOK
After their big victory brothers still hunt monsters, of course, but now, when they are finally not constantly forced to save the whole world, their days are far less busy. They even have free time. And Sam makes a decision to do something useful with it.
Sam pulls together all his previous research, goes through hundreds of books from the library, adds other sources, and he writes and publishes a book. A really long book. It takes him almost a year from the first idea to the completion of it. This book is sort of a database, a full encyclopedia of all supernatural things that the Winchesters and the other hunters they know encountered over the years, with an accurate description of how those things look, what they do, what they want, where you can find them. And, of course, how to stop them, kill them, or protect yourself from them. The content is quite impressive, Sam put all his time and soul into it, checking and double-checking all information, comparing sources and trying to grasp the essence of each part of the lore and put it on the pages as short and simple as possible.
The book is called "The hunter's manual". Eileen insisted on that title - both Sam and Dean (who didn't help that much but nevertheless felt invested) right until the publishing kept offering something different. Sam wanted a long and self-explanatory name for his beloved creation, Dean wished for something more "pretentious and catchy".
It was supposed to be just a wiki-style website at first, but halfway through work Sam got excited about creating an actual book, so through some acquaintances they found a publisher, who knew about monsters and other stuff after his encounter with some vampires and another hunter, and agreed to publish a book in exchange for a right to sell its copies.
Eileen fully supported the idea of the book, but after a few weeks she gets quite annoyed by the fact that sometimes she literally can't pull Sam away from the book writing process. Dean jokes that his brother got married to book before he married Eileen, which somehow leads to a long serious conversation about marriage and love and life in general. But actually Eileen understands the importance of Sam's book for him way more than Dean, who thinks about it only from the practical point of view.
Sometimes Eileen is also worried for Sam, because he spends too much personal resources on his project, and she is the one who reminds him when he forgets to eat in time or not sleeping enough, and makes him remember to take care of himself. Eventually she becomes quite invested in the process, and she helps Sam with a lot of research and gaining information from other hunters across the country. She gets an honourable mention in the book's authors' information page, under a fake name, of course, but it still counts for them.
In a few years Sam's book becomes a handbook for almost every hunter in the US, and it even gets translated into a few other languages, because turns out it considerably eases your life to have one source for all basic material for the hunts, instead of going through the whole libraries of controversial information.
A few people got their book signed by Sam and Dean: the Winchesters at this point became sort of legendary figures in hunters' world. Dean complains that this is not the way he planned to become famous. Sam objects that his brother has no right to sign the book and therefore shouldn't be complaining when he lets him be part of his fame.
The hunters now often give a link to a digital version of the book to all ordinary people who had to face something supernatural and now know that it's all real - because if they are already aware of the nightmares of this world, this book's instructions will help them to be safer in the future. This digital version is also heavily redacted, to contain only information for protection: no summoning rituals, for example, as well as no any other things and information that could potentially hurt anybody. This version was created after some dumb teenagers, who encountered a ghost before, got their hands on an unedited book and decided that summoning a demon could be a good idea for a party entertainment. It definitely wasn't.
Ironically, some time later this book accidentally becomes fairly popular among the general public, as a book in the fantasy genre, and now passionate fans of the "supernatural" books in the long internet discussions are accusing mysterious author of "The hunter's manual" of ripping off their favourite series. Sam finds it amusing and sometimes when he is bored anonymously goes into some forums to argue with fans.

I was tagged by @la-muerta & @facialteeth & @thedivinemissema for the WIP/Title Game
rules: post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. send me an ask with the title that most intrigues you and interests you and i’ll post a little snippet of it or tell you something about it!
AND THEN by @shadoedseptmbr @msviolacea & @ravenclawnerd for the stories you want to write... but for some reason haven’t yet”
so this will be a mish-mash of both? The WIPs will mostly have blurbs in this case (to fit the second meme) but you are still welcome to ask follow-up questions, if you’d like ;) Assuming you make it through the list, it is uh. Not Short.
Anyone who would like to play with their WIPs, please consider yourself tagged in either or both of these. :D
Misc Fic Folder:
“untitled document” - where I’m working on fictober fills so I have word-counts for my GYWO tracker. I am not working on these because Brains Are Dumb and also Going Back To Work Is Exhausting
I made a file called “YULETIDE!” which has nothing in it but I’m determined to finish this year so that is definitely technically a thing in the Unending WIP List of Doom worth mentioning. (Tho obviously that’s all I could say even if I had started, because anonymous.)
“coda-fics, rewatch!” -yes, that exclamation mark is important! it’s to keep me motivated! (it didn’t work). Much like untitled, this is for putting stuff so I can do word count tracking even if I don’t know what I’m doing. Currently I think it just says “MARYSE” because I was working on my SH 1x6 coda-fic and then got distracted and haven’t typed anything up yet. (Yay notebooks? Boo notebooks? Not even sure at this point.)
WNIP (works not in progress) Folder:
“TOG” - I had one vivid mental image of how Nicky & Joe met (blood-stained evil smiles?) but then no idea for a follow-up story and also the fandom is insane and I’m not sure I want to deal with all of *gestures vaguely* all that
“Shan Xia Notes” -for a TTRPG that never quite got off the ground; she was a semi-tragic selkie who was still in love with the evil queen/lady who stole her skin and I got to play her for like one session and she was surprisingly chaotic neutral, which wasn’t at all what I’d been expecting. But the game never really got off the ground, so I never had enough info to really delve into writing backstory fic
“post-Kruschev” -Kruschev’s List was the last episode of Scarecrow & Mrs King, and I was debating writing an epilogue in place of the s5 we never got, to try and tie up some loose ends, but the fandom’s three old-ladies in trench coats and I never quite worked up the gumption to get it anywhere
“Code Realize warm as silk sequel” -there is literally nothing in this file except “SEX! Only a little angst” because I wanted to write some “we can’t actually touch each other” smut but never actually did. 🤷♀️
BioWare (also all Not-In-Progress Anymore)
“seb/adelaide”, “Theia” & “DAI Erana” -these WIP folders were cannibalized for ficlets for the last few times I did fictober, and while originally I had ideas for longer epilogues for all three of them, at this point I don’t think any of the remaining bits could support a story any longer.
”whispers in the dark” -Maia Ryder never really got much fic at all; the cancellation of any further Andromeda stuff was really disheartening, and at this point I’d have to play the game again, and I don’t think I’m gonna manage that any time soon
”TSP” -a Mass Effect 3 Shepard AU collab project that kind of went off the rails, and our mutual brains/lives never quite seem to line up so we can try and rebuild it ”Ngaio & Tane” -my one truly ruthless Shepard (Alliance background, who romanced Traynor) whose father Tane Shepard was, I think, in PsyOps, and I wanted to figure out their complicated relationship but never really did know where I was going with it
”JE Zu & Yaling” -so I’ve rambled about my Tragic Sagacious Zu Romance Thoughts regarding Jade Empire more than once (#Icy Yaling should have most of it) but apparently I want to yell about it more than I want to actually write it? Whoops.
”CI sequel: 5 times fic?” -Cruel Intentions is a kinkmeme fill that I started and then it sat for like five years before I actually finished it, and I liked the ending, but it does leave a giant fucking question mark in terms of how those people got from there to where they are after the game, and I kind of wanted to write a proper h/c fic rather than just... leaving them wallowing in all that trauma?
But I didn’t. I don’t even remember for sure how I wanted to frame the 5/1 of it all, besides it being something sad about allowing people to see you or touch you in some way. (Prayers maybe, since I think there was definitely some Sebastian & Fenris & faith stuff going on in there.)
“candles” -Merribela prompt fill that I never was happy with? Not sure what I might do with it at this point, so it’s just sitting there all sad and lonely and neglected-like.
Shadowhunters
pt1: WIP LIST ONLY
“Persuasion” -so I keep trying to write Persuasion AUs in many fandoms because it’s my favorite Austen, but I think I like it too much, I have no real solid concept of how I’d transform it, and if I don’t have anything else to say about different characters within that framework, I have no push to actually write anything? Also this SH version of it suffered from MASSIVE scope creep when I started outlining and it got too big for me to handle so I like, killed it twice? Whoops. This one is really probably never gonna happen.
“oosdt sequel” -I wanted to write more about the Forest That Eats People and Magnus & Alec as Guardians Between Worlds, and also some background Magnus’ Found Family & Lightwood Family Feels (maybe some clizzy?) and I left a Madzie plot-thread dangling from the first one on purpose even but I think this one had too many ideas and not enough focus so it’s sort of sprawling all over a doc with a lot of “???” in it
“procedural-ish” -this was originally going to be a sex-farce. and then it turned more serious. and then maybe kind of copaganda which was uncomfortable in terms of the Everything That Is The News in 2020, and then maybe it was more a Mafia AU and at that point I had self-inflicted tone whiplash and I wished the voices in my head were a little more forthcoming about their plans so I stopped before I brained myself on my computer monitor in frustration.
“I had rather a rose than live forever” -I started a reverse!verse Malec (Shadowhunter!Magnus, High Warlock!Alec) for bingo last year, and I couldn’t quite get it together in time, so I made a moodboard inspired by the bits I’d started instead. I may see if one of my prompts from Bingo this year help me finish it?
“fall fright fest (practical magic au)” -exactly what it says on the tin! almost exactly a year old & neglected! IDEK ANYMORE (I talked about this one with the WIP meme last time tho: here)
“priest!kink theology?” -I thought it was gonna be smut? I like priest!kink. I have made other people like it and yell at me even! But then I kept diverging into demon!Magnus thinking about Priest!Alec’s faith and as usual, IDEK ANYMORE *laughs*
(If they’re remotely canon-adjacent or divergent, a bunch of these are in here because I need to rewatch the show to get the pacing/timing/tone right and I haven’t, and I don’t know why, because I enjoy the show, but BRAINS! Are Dumb! So I guess that’s it?)
“I do” -I have tried to write this damnable Malec arranged marriage fic like six different times. I have signed up for fic exchanges and bangs with it, I have rewritten massive sections, trying to change tone or structure or POV or whatever, and it basically comes down to they like each other too fast and I keep not gutting it enough to get back to a useful pace, but by the time I realized that I was on take six and kind of sick of it. I may get back to it eventually
“wing!fic” -canon divergent in early s1, trying to deal with the consequences of Simon’s kidnapping as the Truly Serious Event that it should have been. It uh. Got heavier than I expected with those consequences (considering it was originally just supposed to be Alec’s wings flirting with Magnus) and also see above re: rewatching for pacing.
“2x20 aftermath/date night/pandemonium porn“ -yes that is the actual wip title. It used to be “spite fic” because I was originally inspired by fighting against a lot of fic!Alec characterization that was clearly based more on the books and ATG syndrome than the Alec in the show, which is the Alec I know and like and want to read about. BUT, pacing and etc. again, I think. Also I have somehow entirely lost my knack for writing porn, which makes it difficult to finish something originally intended to be smut!fic. Or even teasing almost!smut.
“rubbish heap” -so this is about three different fics that I realized complemented each other really well so they’re now all in the same file as I try to turn them into the sequel of “with an if in its soul”. It includes amnesia, parabatai lore shenanigans, a s3 rewrite, and some truly awful Owl adjustments that make me wince in horrified authorly delight and pain. BUT, as with the other ones in this file, the scope is large and I normally write short-fic and I kind of just threw up my hands in exasperation. I may have to break it back up into the three different fics instead, if I ever actually want to write it. Them? But also I need to take better notes on s3 to make sure I have what I need in here.
SH Pt 2: Started posting or not yet in hiatus because it’s actually almost ready to be a thing in the real world! maybe!?
“kisses (firsts)” -I actually started publishing this one, a “series of firsts” that was supposed to be kind of relationship milestones and kind of an excuse for smut, and then there wasn’t that much smut and I lost momentum and also dear lords & ladies the timeline is stupid, wtf. I may not ever add to this one, tbqh. It doesn’t stop in a terrible place, and they’re all ficlets so they stand alone all right.
“clizzy epilogue” -this is blank atm, it’s more a reminder for me to keep poking away at my “girls who can’t breathe air, only fire” collection BECAUSE I WOULD LIKE TO ACTUALLY GET TO THE CLIZZY AT SOME POINT
"mer!alec" -pts 2-4 of a series, but apparently having an actual plan gets in the way of me *writing* the thing, and I haven't managed to throw the half an outline far enough away from my brain to be able to write again. Or something like that.
"ibhww" -if broken hearts were whole is a soulmate fic I started a million years ago, and purposefully set aside to finish some other WIPs because I thought they'd be quick, and now it's just buried under two and a half years of regret and shame so it's hard to get back to it
"iafy" -i am for you is a delightful & frothy semi-epistolary fluff piece that also just lost momentum because Life & 2020 & etc. It's far and away the most popular thing I've ever posted on AO3, which also makes me feel weird sometimes, and I feel like the fact that there's no grand conclusion planned, just a bit more fluff and settling in, might end up being disappointing? Basically, it's the first time I think I've psyched myself out about reader expectations, and until I get over that I'm going to have trouble finishing the last couple chapters. (There really are probably only two more chapters though. IT’S SO CLOSE, I wish I could just... write it. And yet?)
“fake-hating” -I do not like fake dating as a trope that much, I just do not get it, but I love outside POVs and arranged marriages and there’s this delighful tumblr post about how they wished there was more fic about people who were together but had to pretend they werent’, and uh. This may be that? Eventually? I’m not exhausted by my failure to finish it yet, so it’s still in the regular folder rather than the hiatus folder, even though nothing’s been posted for it.
AND I THINK THAT’S IT?
Not as terrible as it could be, but still. MANY WORDS THAT MAY NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY. Posting the equivalent of one’s old ratty sketchbook is always a weird feeling. :D

Cassandra is Saporian: An Analysis
I’ve seen this theory tossed around a bit, but I think we need to take a good and serious look at it from all angles.
First off, what would this add to the plot?
Well, we know Saporia was formerly an enemy of Corona, until the two united when their leaders fell in love. Shortly after, the Separatists of Saporia were formed, a splinter group dedicated to taking back Corona for Saporia.
So, making Cassandra Saporian would give her a good reason to take the Moonstone, using it as the means to take back Corona for her ancestors.
Has that always been her true goal? No, absolutely not, and that’s not the focus of this post. But I will come back around to her motives for taking the stone. Hang on.
The ONLY time Saporia is mentioned in the show is in “Under Wraps”, which, as you may recall, is a Cassandra heavy episode. While that could be a very loose hint at her being Saporian, I think we’re missing the larger piece of foreshadowing that is presented. Something that Andrew tosses out right before his defeat.
"Oh, Cassandra. Saporia will rise again, and we'll have you to thank for it."
And sure, that seems like an empty threat on Andrew’s part. But the writers of the show have known for a long time what was being planned for the end of season 2 and the upcoming season 3. When you consider that, it’d be easy to drop in a forgettable line for a (much) later reveal.
But, there’s more.
The Saporian crest on Andrew’s necklace is used as the catalyst for Xavier to reveal information about the Separatists of Saporia. Two reasons why this is significant.
Why go through all the trouble of elaborating on Saporia and its history for one episode? Why focus so heavily on the backstory of a character that only appears once? Sure, the lore at the beginning of the episode was relevant for explaining the Day of Hearts holiday. But the show took it even further, not only detailing who the Separatists of Saporia are, but ALSO revealing their crest. Why was ALL of that so important for a single episode?
Except...
We see the crest a second time, 27 episodes later.
The potion book Cassandra reads from in “Rapunzel: Day One”. Now, the RTA Crew could have chosen to put anything, or nothing, on the cover of that book. But they specifically chose the Separatists of Saporia emblem. Why?
Well, I guess we can assume this stuff belonged to the Separatists, or some traveling salesman/magician (whoever the cart formerly belonged to) came by it through unknown means.
And yet, it found its way into Cassandra’s hands.
Now, this detail is completely trivial, and easy to miss, just as Andrew’s line could easily be forgotten. But it does ever so subtly add another point connecting Cassandra to Saporia.
But what else do we know about Cassandra?
We know she’s adopted.
Cassandra and Eugene had a brief bonding moment about being orphans in “Cassandra v. Eugene”. Now, that could have just been a throwaway moment, a nice ‘something in common’ between the two of them. But Cassandra could have EASILY been Captain’s biological daughter. I mean, why not? Why did that happen to be the thing they had in common? And why did Cassandra shut down when Eugene asked if she ever wondered what her parents were like?
Maybe she already knows.
But, that’s completely irrelevant.
Cassandra was raised in Corona, she considers herself a citizen of Corona, and she’s been striving her entire life to succeed her father as Captain of the Guard of Corona. She’s loyal to the kingdom and especially to Rapunzel, regardless of whether or not she knows she’s Saporian. And it wouldn’t even matter to Rapunzel, Eugene, or anyone else. On the off chance she knows, she’s been shown to literally not care at all based on the fact that it’s never come up in conversation.
So again, whether or not she knows, it’s irrelevant to this theory.
More importantly, for us, the audience, we don’t know where Cassandra came from. We don’t know her parents or heritage. It’s a small loose end the show has not yet touched on. And maybe it wouldn’t even be important, if we hadn’t just learned about Eugene’s origin and parentage in “Destinies Collide”.
Now, Cassandra is the only one of the main three whose background is still shrouded in so much mystery. She’s guarded, she doesn’t talk about her feelings, and she knows Rapunzel and Eugene BOTH can’t keep secrets. Rapunzel is a “sharer”, and Eugene just has a big mouth in general.
So, getting back on track. We actually have 3 pretty solid pieces of foreshadowing evidence for Cassandra being born into the Separatists of Saporia. She’s an orphan, Andrew’s quote, the crest popping up again in her hands. All very subtle, and yet, all connected. Very interesting.
Okay, the Moonstone. I said we’d come back to that.
Cassandra is Saporian: An Analysis: Part 2
The door.
We all know this is going to be relevant to Season 3 in some way, but just like Cassandra’s past, what she saw in there has been withdrawn from the audience. For now. We can almost certainly say whatever she saw or experienced convinced her to take the Moonstone, or at least, planted a seed to get her thinking about it.
“I believe everybody's got a destiny.“
Now, this is funny, because we really haven’t heard Cassandra talk about destiny a whole lot during the series. She’s been pretty adamant that she is on this journey to help Rapunzel fulfill her destiny. But here, she says, “All in the name of fulfilling destiny,” and then goes on to elaborate with the quote above. This whole journey she’s put a lot of emphasis on this being Rapunzel’s destiny, but here, she kind of leaves that out. Kind of leaves it more open and vague and a little bit ominous.
Let’s roll back to right after the door closes on Cassandra and this imagery of Zhan Tiri is shown. Maybe it’s nothing, or maybe, more likely, it’s something!
Now, we’re really going to stretch into theory territory, but it’s all going to tie together. Let’s talk about what could have been behind that door!
What if Zhan Tiri convinced Cassandra that her destiny was to bring about the rise of Saporia once again? Think about it. Cassandra has consistently been overlooked in Corona. She wants nothing more than to be on the guard, and she’s willing to earn her place the same as anyone else. If you recall, Eugene managed to pass the guard test in a few days. Cassandra, on the other hand, has been training since she was 6 years old, and her father still won’t allow her to join. Captain is not overprotective by any stretch of the imagination; there is literally no good reason Cassandra shouldn’t be on the guard. (Other than the fact that she’s a woman.)
Not only that, but her friends have shown very little appreciation for all the times she’s saved their lives. She is so underappreciated, it wouldn’t be difficult to convince her to turn on them. (Except for Cassandra’s undying loyalty to Rapunzel.) Plus, with Cassandra feeling less like Rapunzel’s best friend and more like a servant to the princess, she’s not doing so great. Rapunzel said in the past (multiple times) that she trusted Cassandra, and yet, as of late, she hasn’t shown that to still be true. Cassandra is in a vulnerable state, ripe for Zhan Tiri to take hold.
The connection to Saporia? A very convenient way to tip the unsteady emotional iceberg of Cassandra’s heart.
Wait, wait, wait. Didn’t I already say any connection Cassandra had to Saporia wasn’t important to her?
Right, that’s absolutely correct. It’s not important to her, at all. But it IS important to the story. It IS important as a plot device.
Zhan Tiri is an extremely powerful force that has been constantly looming over the heads of our heroes throughout most of the series, popping up every now and again to remind us, oh yeah, there’s a big bad coming. The final boss will be in town shortly, even though our heroes have barely been able to hold their own against his minions. Are they ready to face the ultimate evil? Haha, no.
Okay, we’re in the home stretch of this theory.
Cassandra being Saporian gives Zhan Tiri an in. A wedge, to drive between Cassandra and her friends and convince her that taking the Moonstone is her destiny. To get revenge on everyone who has treated her badly. I mean, that’d be great, wouldn’t it?
Not for Cassandra.
Cassandra, who loves Rapunzel. Cassandra, who, MULTIPLE TIMES in not just the series, but in the final episode of season 2, saved Rapunzel’s life. She grabbed Rapunzel when the gondola was falling. She pushed Rapunzel out of the way of a flying ax. She helped defend Rapunzel from the ghosts. Even after everything that happened on their journey, making sure Rapunzel is safe has CONSISTENTLY been Cassandra’s TOP priority.
But you see, Cassandra wants Zhan Tiri to believe she’s on his side. She has all the right motives for taking the Moonstone, so she could easily convince him that her actions are genuine. She wants to destroy him once and for all. But, until he revealed that she could take the Moonstone and use its power, she didn’t have the means. Of course, Cassandra needs Zhan Tiri (and the audience!) to believe that she has betrayed her friends. She needs him to trust her. She needs him to let her get close to him.
So why not tell her friends her plan? Why not let Rapunzel know? First off, nothing would convince Rapunzel to let anyone else take that risk for her. No one else would be allowed to bear her burden. Remember the foreshadowing that touching the Moonstone might obliterate Rapunzel?
“Freebird“, Rapunzel: “These rocks are my destiny, and that's terrifying. What if they lead to somewhere I'm never supposed to come back from?“
“Destinies Collide“, Adira: “While I'm certain bringing the Sundrop to the Moonstone will neutralize its threat, I'm not sure what will happen to you.“
Comforting!
Secondly, I must repeat, Rapunzel and Eugene BOTH can’t keep secrets. Rapunzel is a “sharer”, and Eugene just has a big mouth in general. There’s NO WAY Cassandra could let them in on any kind of plan to take the Moonstone. No way she could let them know she planned to risk her own safety to defeat Zhan Tiri. No way she could convince them to trust her to do this.
Too long, didn’t read: Cassandra being Saporian gives Zhan Tiri an opportunity to divide our heroes by convincing Cassandra to grab the Moonstone so that she has the power to take back Corona in the name of Saporia.
Lastly, keep in mind that Cassandra never actually says what her destiny is.
“I'm fulfilling my destiny!“
Okay, great. And that is?... Is it betraying her friends? Preventing the Sundrop and Moonstone from uniting? Opening the portal for Zhan Tiri? Taking back Corona for Saporia? Grabbing the Moonstone so it doesn't destroy Rapunzel? We literally don't know.
And I think that’s great.
Cassandra’s actions at the end of season 2 left us with a beautiful cliffhanger, hungry for more. It left us with questions, concerns, and a slew of ideas about what could be coming next. It left us with a few final parting words that ultimately have us stunned and bewildered.
But let’s get one thing straight. Cassandra isn’t. Cassandra has not betrayed her friends. Not permanently, anyway. It may seem like that now, but if you’ve been keeping up with the series, you know how much she cares about Rapunzel. You’ve seen that look in her eyes. How soft she gets when Rapunzel smiles at her. You know that she’d give her life in place of Rapunzel’s. Whatever Cassandra is doing, whatever she’s planning, is for the greater good. She’s not evil. Never has been. Never will be.
So have a little faith. Not just in Cassandra. But in the hardworking creatives who put their hearts and souls into telling this story. Who have set up clues throughout the series to keep us guessing and make the show interesting. Cassandra is a main character, a main protagonist, even, who has had more screen time than Rapunzel’s own love interest. Our girl’s not evil. She just has yet-to-be-revealed plans.

Daily Monster #37: Narzugon
One of my favorite parts about writing these articles for Daily Monster is that I get to learn about some cool creatures to throw my players way, and let me tell you, some of them can look pretty ridiculous. Depending on the creature, the task f looking for art can be a bit of a pain when there is none to be found, but every once in a while we get a creature like today’s monster that has soooo much awesome looking art that I spend half my writing time just looking at art. Anyway, all this was to say that Nazurgons are really awesome looking monsters and I want 100 of their minis.
The Nazurgon
The basics
With a CR of 13, this monster definitely packs a punch. We’re looking at a +5 STR, +4 CHA, matching +3 CON and INT, followed by +2 WIS. This monster’s EDX can’t even be called a weakness considering that it is still a +0.
If we plan on running one of these bad boys we can expect a few perks. Narzugons have proficiency in DEX, CON, and CHA saves as well as a wide variety of damage and condition resistances and immunities, most notably their resistance to weapon attacks that aren’t silvers (and yes, this includes magical weapons too). If at this point you’re thinking that it’s probably best to stick to magic instead, well, you might want to keep in mind that they also have access to Magic Resistance.
Possibly to make up for their incredible sturdiness, the Narzugon’s hit point pool is actually not nearly as impressive as it should be for a CR 13 creature with only 15d8+45. Their AC of 10, however, definitely matches the number.
These medium-sized devils can communicate telepathically up to a range of 120ft in both Common and Infernal. They also have a Darkvision of 120ft as well as a passive perception of 17 that benefits from advantage on spotting good aligned creatures thanks to the Narzugon’s Diabolical Sense.
Speaking of alignment, today’s monster is strictly considered lawful evil, but more on that in the later sections of this article.
In terms of attacks and actions, the Narzugon makes use of one of D&D’s less popular weapons; the lace. Any creature slain by this fiend’s Hellfire Lance rises from the River Styx as a Lemure in a matter of a couple of hours.
Perhaps as a vestigial ability from their past, Narzugons get access to two different command abilities that they can use as part of their four part multiattack. The first of these command abilities is Infernal Command, which simply grants immunity to the charmed and frightened conditions to all Narzugons allies within 60ft. On the complete opposite side of the spectrum its second command ability, Terrifying command works similarly to a Dragon’s Frightful Presence except it target CHA instead.
On top of being able to endure quite a bit of damage, Narzugons also have the ability to heal any target’s HP by 100 hit points once per day including themselves.
The lore
First introduced to Dungeons and Dragons for 3rd edition, Narzugons are lawful evil Paladins who at some point during their lives made some sort of pact with a devil, particularly archdukes of the Nine Hells.
Also known as Hell Knights, they are champions and leaders of their master’s legions. They are known to ride atop terrifying horses spun from fire itself called Nightmares while wielding lances powerful enough to curse their victims into an afterlife of servitude as Lemures.
As lawful evil creatures they are bound to duty and will follow their orders to the letter. Whether this be by using their Healing ability on creatures other than themselves and therefore sacrificing their lives to the cause, or commanding other lower beings into battle instead.
Above anything else, Hell Knights are extremely resentful of their situation and what has become of them. They now realize that their choices in life might not have been what they saw them as, but even though they resent their masters and the work that they do, they see themselves eternally bound to it by duty.
Narzugons are very smart creatures and, considering their past as paladins, they probably know the ins and out of being heroes. It’s not unlikely that they would use this knowledge to deal with our party of heroes.
One of the features from previous editions that you might want to consider giving back to this monster is their innate spell casting. If you take a look at their stat block you can still clearly see how at one point they used their CHA as a spell casting modifier. Some of the spells that they had access to were Hold Person, Produce Flame, and Suggestion. If you’re looking to buff these guys a little more, this might be the way to do it.
Last but not least, not only are they incredibly hard to deal with as is, but their control over their personal Nightmare only adds to the threat they pose. Their Nightmares grant all the advantages that come with combat mounts, but also get the added benefit of being able to take their own actions on their initiative count. I will make sure to come back and link to the Nightmare article once we have talked about them.
The execution
Chances are that if your party is about to fight one of these creatures they will most likely be a pretty high level. As commanders of dozens if not hundreds of other lesser devils, it’s almost expected that they won’t be alone on the battlefield either. You should make sure to choose their minions carefully to make the best out of the Narzugon’s abilities. On top of that, you’ll want to make sure to study up on your Nightmare’s as well, because they will have an important role in combat too.
Personally I would use today’s monster either as a commander that takes the front line of action and gallops straight into the fray OR as a last line of defense for their devilish lieges for whom they would lay down their lives.
With their 4 part multiattack feature these creatures can be quite terrifying even without taking into account their mount’s own abilities.
Whether you’re running a module like Descent into Avernus or your own homebrew campaign, you should make sure to give these creatures the credit they deserve by playing them as astutely and cunningly as they would be. That said, you should also make sure to play up their zealousness as a possible flaw that the players can exploit in their advantage.

Empty pans, empty hands
Warnings: Little bit of Angst
Characters: Lucifer x Reader, Sam-ish
Words: 878
Prompt / Summary: Lucifer gives you food after no one left for you.
A/N: First post ever... literally. I’m open to suggestions and requests. Warning, it will probably take me a while to figure out Tumblr as it is, but yeah. Enjoy
Everything had been awkward, just as you are. You met the guys on a hunting trip, one of the darkest nights in your life. You lost everyone you trusted and you didn’t have a place to stay, so the guys opted for the bunker until you got back up to your feet.
You didn’t belong, but you were ok. The guys still weren’t sure what to make of you and your quietness. You were smart, that was for sure, but you didn’t talk unless asked too. You helped finding lore in books, cases online. You maybe smirked at Dean’s crass comments or Castiel’s obvious questions of human life, but you left it at that. A lot happened in between events, Jack was born and then, then there was Lucifer.
He was insufferable around the bunker. He had a limited source of grace and was trying to do well by Jack, but no one had faith in him. The room hushed mid-conversation and no one really include him in the hunts. His limited grace forced him to have human traits and necessities. Hunger and sleepiness were a burden now, but that didn’t make any hunter look twice.
Until you.
You saw the sad looks, apart from the angry ones that were thrown at the others. You saw him, but he didn’t see you… then came in the details. You found yourself staring at him more than usual. His genius remarks often dumbed down with humor, would go deaf to biased ears. He was smarter than he let on, you just knew. Sometimes, you secretly cooked a little more because you knew he got hungry fast, so he was able to go for seconds.
His eyes, his hair, his stance. You knew it was only his vessel, but you couldn’t help but notice how it fit him and his personality so well. You couldn’t imagine him as someone else.
It was time for dinner. You worked along with some of the other hunters from the other alternative universe during the day to bring in the food and prepare it. You’ve planned this for almost a week. The majority was lost and hadn’t seen a cookbook in ages, so you ended up doing most of the work.
You were exhausted and your back was killing you, but you felt that this was the only way you could contribute. After finishing dinner, you headed up, showered and changed clothes. You were slightly excited for the food and couldn’t wait to see everyone’s reactions as they tasted it for the first time, but that changed when you got to the main table.
Everyone was sitting there, except you. Everyone had finished eating already and you didn’t even have a plate in your hands. You bit the inside of your cheek when you noticed that the table was completely full.
You didn’t feel like you belonged before, but this just took the cake. Even Lucifer was sitting at the other corner of the long-filled table, quietly observing everyone.
“Hey, (Y/N)!” A slightly drunk Sam stands up too suddenly, making the cutlery clatter. “You can sit… uh…” The table was completely full and now everyone was looking at you.
You nervously grip your forearms as everyone expects an answer from one of the parts, so you meekly shoo away the “offer” and head to the kitchen. Everyone continues the conversation and you are greeted by empty scraped pans.
There was no food left, and you were starving.
You couldn’t help but feel rage, and so did your tears. You didn’t slave away your time cooking just so you would be left with nothing. The empty pot was staring back at you and you couldn’t help but feel like a representation of something bigger than yourself.
But even this made you feel guilty somehow. People were dying all around the world, hunters worked tirelessly to save lives and here you were crying about food.
And again, here you were, settling by placing the pots and pans in the dishwasher and making yourself a mediocre sandwich. That changed when you heard footsteps, but you decided to ignore the person. You were about to snap and didn’t feel like handling someone else.
“You didn’t say anything.” The hairs on your arms stood up in attention, goosebumps ran along your back. Lucifer was standing a few feet away and just directed his first words at you.
“Whatever.” You internally cringed at your response and kept placing the ingredients on the bread, but with slower intentions. You were curious, but not curious enough to turn around and face him. “There was nothing to say.” You add, but he didn’t answer.
For a moment you thought he had left, but a few seconds later, you see a plate slide beside your now frozen hands. The plate was filled to the brim with food.
“I thoug-”
“I stole it. Don’t flatter yourself.” You turned slightly, enough to see him walk away.
“I am.” He stopped midway but didn’t turn around. “Flattered, I mean… Thank you, Lucifer.” With what you assume is a nod, Lucifer hesitantly walks out of the kitchen with empty hands.
You tried to contain the smile that rose up as you took the plate to reheat it.

Borderline patch 2 notes and bugfixes
it’s on gamejolt now, go download it there too! :)
anyways as you can see, there have been more changes to the patch 2 comparing to patch 1 which had minor bug fixes and some minor additions (like sprites. it’s done, chii can take a break, I can take a break to work on Pretender, LET’S DO THIS! I might not list all the bug fixes, cuz I’ve done so much at this point, most of the fixes are just grammar and graphic errors. PLEASE NOTE: THIS BUG FIX ONLY COVERS THE MAIN ROUTE! I WILL EVENTUALLY WORK ON THE ALTERNATE ROUTES FOR EXTRA CONTENT AND OF COURSE PLAN THINGS OUT AS THINGS GO!
Patch 2
Starting point:
-’New’ (actually not new but you get the point) title screen (thanks to dismaluprising for helping me out with the icons and for teaching me how to code the damn thing!) -Fixed grammar errors (god English isn’t my first language and I write too fast, thanks to Puff and Chii for helping me out with the grammar errors) -If you decide to go for Pretender’s quest, you will now be shown how many items are left until you can go and visit her (that is, if you don’t end up killing off the zone. 😏😏😏😏😏😏) -Punishment game is still there... except I fixed a minor bug during the shedder scene in Zone 3 where you could actually get out while fast pacing. Changed it into a cut scene version where when you make the wrong choice, Max acts on his own. It’s a set event dammit! -Not much changes to the alternate routes, will get there when I get there, I mostly put focus on the main route, although when I was writing down defeat handlers for the Guardians (we’ll get to that), I added dialogue for all 3 alternates. -Lost soul and Elsen sprites have been revamped (same goes for cameo elsen sprites. Also Chii did a Gabe sprite. -More content by Chii! (Iloveyou ;w; ) -Interior panoramas have been included in certain parts of the game (my crops have grown, my depression is cured, and I have began abusing panoramas as interiors, you can NOT STOP ME!!!!!) -More cameo appearances! -Defeat handlers for the Guardians have been implemented. You will see what I mean. >w> -More redraws from Baka27powwaa -Sprite overhaul. Because that takes me up to a day to do. ;w; -Option to find Birb has been added. -Solution folder has been added for those who prefer a visual walkthrough instead of a text walkthrough! -Removed the OFF music, with the exception of “a thousand pounds” and the default “meat sound effect”. Meat sound effect is replaced by air speckling *eyebrow wiggles* -Gave Sneec a little buff so he is gonna be a wee bit stronger than before. -Only Max has perks, the perks are self-boost perks to help with the final battle (there will be more perks for others in the final release.) -Fixed experience points with most monsters so hopefully the battle won’t be tedious and you won’t have to level grind as much. -Some books in Zone 2 have received their well-deserved revamp.
Introduction: -Fixed minor graphic issues which were found in the kitchen. -Teleportation blocks (aka red cubes) are officially replaced with zodiac teleporters! An idea that I had for a while now, not to mention it would make some sense since the yellow block is replaced with Bob. -Nameless officially appears in-game. And when I mean by that, I mean by the fact that instead of you seeing him in zone 4′s roof, he’s now everywhere.. So everywhere that there is a nowhere too. Birb what are you saying? idk?????? -world map is now a panorama. Zone 0:
-ZONE 0 GOT ITSELF AN EXPANSION AREA(tm)!! There are 4 houses and 1 bakery! -Beth is now included in the game and probably in the near future (or if I decide to go with it), she is a temporary character for post-Japhet defeat handler and only lasts for 1 Zone before she returns back to Zone 0. -On the fourth house (second house on the bottom) there is a treasure chest which gives you a fortune ticket!
Zone 1:
-Elsen has an extra area, you can find a chest which gives you a luck ticket, going to the end you will meet Nameless. -Sam’s event is set to a cutscene to prevent you from running off and/or examining the area which was never intentional! -You no longer have to read the note in Pentel tunnel to trigger the event (I know people skim through it so it’s for the best fghfgh) -In Shachihata, some Elsen say ‘null’ when spewing out music notes. Null is ZERO! it’s to avoid confusion when typing in the numbers so it doesn’t be like 85260, but rather 03559. (No, that’s just an example, stop asking!!!) -During an Orodemus run, you can apparently escape from the elevator. Which I THINK I fixed in patch 1, but I will re-state it. You can’t run away from the melon man. Don’t run away from the melon man, he just wants to punt you into oblivion so he can please his master! -Dedan defeat handler has been implemented!
Zone 2:
-Not much changes to the library, just added Nameless in and that’s it. -More minor bugs are fixed, Im just a dumb and I forget what bugs I fixed, so work with me here..Most are graphic errors and grammar. -Uncluttered the haunted attraction of excess decor. -An extremely minor dialogue change with Shedder. -Added in a pathway to the adoption center which can be accessed after you finish Zone 2.. that is, if you do finish it.. from the mall, head to the left, pretty much follow the arrows. -fixed an error where you get on the door when you enter after the erika event. when aleyes lets you pass? Yea, that one.. Not sure how that happened. -fixed a bug, even though it’s not a rare bug unless you put in the right arrows in the crying room, where when you enter wrong, and then correctly, the game doesn’t register it as complete and doesn’t give off the head. MAJOR NOTE TO SELF. VARIABLES GO BEFORE SWITCHES! VARIABLES GO BEFORE SWITCHES!!!!! VARIABLES GO BEFORE SWITCHES!!!!!!!!!!! I actually had to fix this issue by going with switches because even if you enter it wrong then right the game refuses to register the puzzle being completed. Which drove me insane!!! -That one shedder image... yea.. I forgot to switch it with the other one, don’t judge me I work too much already.. -From the hallway in Sen’s route, instead of going back to the beginning of the hallway, you would end up going to the 3 hallways.. I hopefully fixed that issue. -You will not be able to interact with Horus from the left side as Seneca. Only from the right side. -Japhet defeat handler has been implemented! Depending on whether you killed Dedan or not, Japhet’s defeat handler dialogue is different, but the outcome is still the same. -Somewhat fixed Japhet’s past event??? Will need to make some changes for the final game(tm)
Zone 3: -Grammar errors and some minor bugs have been fixed.. -Beth’s event where she talks about her past has been added. -Monorail event is fixed! There were some bugs that Puff pointed out (when you go to the lever and pull it, the timer still continues on for a few seconds before it stops. Now when you pull the lever, the timer stops immediately!) -Enoch’s defeat handler has been implemented. Once again, depending on whether you defeated either Japhet or Dedan (or both), the dialogue is different but the outcome is the same. -If Max goes through the defeat handler, he loses all of his items (equipped items) and an arm. Did a sprite where his arm is missing and re-did the battle sprite for one armed Max. To also avoid confusion, there’s an NA in brackets which means no arm. I had to add that to avoid confusion when I was doing his events. -Enoch’s past event has been changed a bit here and there, mainly some bugs fixes and shit.
Zone 4: -Not much changes there, just some minor bugs have been fixed. I forgot which ones dhfgfhh. -You now fight alone against Gabriel. To make up for it, I added a temporary solution until I figure out a way to balance it out. You has perks now. Well, Max for now. -Defeating all 3 guardians will trigger an event where you are unable to fight Gabriel (you will see :3c) and of course. some lore! -Added a little event for a friend :)

Comparing Season 6 and Season 10 - which one do you think makes more sense as a whole, which one better pulls of seeming like what happened/was revealed at the end of the season is what was supposed to happen/was planned all along?
I may be biased, but for me, season 6 by miles. And almost all of that is Edlund desperately cramming everything that had happened so far into something that either made sense or handwaved why it didn’t make sense in an effectively emotional enough episode that by the end of TMWWBK you sort of feel like you’ve actually got your answers and Cas has been completely honest and open with YOU at least, making it that much easier to handle what was going on.
I think for me season 10 was poorly handled in ways that weren’t particularly well addressed and the only offered explanation ever was “oh it was Amara after all” which in the context of season 11 gives us some more characterisation to begin to pull things together, though without addressing everything. Still if we’re dealing with things as a whole, season 10 doesn’t have an episode that scrapes everything together in the post-Edlund era and what we get only within the confines of season 10 is extremely unsatisfactory, even if later canon eases it a little bit, along with just… not being actively in SPN season 10 as it airs :P
Going off my memories of being in the fandom at the time, we had a lot of issues with things like
Dean’s incomplete demon reversal (so far as in 10x02, written by Dabb who invented the cure repeating the correct steps, then in 10x03 Buckleming not following through with them)
“the river ends at the source” “never mind I was screwing with you”
Did Cain still have the Mark after 9x11? lasting drama until 10x14, and still debated afterwards especially by people who had thought he didn’t have the Mark and had passed it entirely to Dean now being very confused
What the fuck was this about Lucifer having the Mark and how did that last minute addition affect everything?
the Colette parallel being wildly mis-applied by fandom but also issues with the show’s fear to explore it leading to “we are all the colette” episodes with lasting drama until 10x22, where Charlie, Sam and Cas all variously and persistently seemed to be suggested to be capable of being a team effort to pull Dean out of the darkness. 10x22 also wasn’t enough to stop Dean, and the final confrontation was with Sam, I think a general consensus was - especially again with season 11′s help - that the memory of Mary drew him back/unleashed Amara metaphorically who unleashed Mary literally - it wasn’t a great note to end on without season 11 context (as a whole, so, like, a whole YEAR later) that Sam had “won” the battle to bring Dean back from himself where Cas had failed, and the subtext and show and fandom most of all had made SUCH a huge deal out of Colette, after 9x11 over-told her story instead of retelling Cain & Abel, that it was set up with the expectation that saving Dean was a romantic quest, not a brotherly one. 10x14 sort of helped set things to rights with the list, but the fighting about what it all meant at the time was AWFUL, and though I think I was right and the show bore that out and these days I type it all with confidence, I’m pretty sure there’s a ton of buried wank about it that could be dragged out if we want >.>
the fact there wasn’t really an overarcing Mark of Cain plot except “Dean is suffering” with the only 3 actual plot points they could do with it being demon!Dean, kill Cain, and remove Mark. Because of that, everything else is literally set-dressing to fill the time and add drama in between, but these were played with poorly and there wasn’t any subterfuge we weren’t in on (i.e. sam stealing the book) vs Cas betraying both the Winchesters and US. The only retcon offered in the end was Death’s exposition about the Darkness.
people literally forgetting which order episodes came out in and being very confused about why Amara wasn’t released when Dean was 14 in 10x12 even though he didn’t kill Cain for 2 more episodes (like, within weeks of 10x14 airing, I swear)
the understandable disappearance of Cole but bizarre application of that hunter called Rudy who popped up in his place and featured in 10x23 along with Cas for Dean’s guilt trip. Even if Cole and TAW sucked ass, it’s much easier to understand the emotional impact of what happened to Rudy if you assume he has the exact same backstory as Cole and the same nonsense happened to Dean twice in the same year :P
Pre-season hype about Rowena made a huge deal out of the Grand Coven, and for a brief moment it seemed like there might be a witch plotline, including new lore dumps about different types of witches in 10x07, characters like Olivette the Hamster, etc, but they squandered her first season and 10x19 was as close as we got to any pay off to her actual storyline
Then Oskaar happened and that was like ??? Okay just introduce him in the second to last episode and throw us into that emotional situation
the entire cure coming out of nowhere as a random last minute macguffin instead of having been anything they put together over the season - even though the book of the damned thing showed up in 10x11 it changed substantially from the clue Charlie left with (a less than 100 year old book with a library reference number found on an antique rare book website, based on a real book, which we all picked over and were left wondering if the plot was to be about some sort of occultism thing as a result) to a much different lore. Then there were a few episodes dealing with it and the codex, the actual spell had no real struggle, and Crowley delivered all the pieces while Cas stood around scowling and Rowena stood around in chains eye-rolling. Compare season 13′s pacing with Sam and Dean cobbling together what they needed from halfway through the season, and being on the mission to get to the AU from episode 9, with relatively little of the endless sitting around googling and being frustrated of past seasons but ESPECIALLY season 10 where Sam was futilely trawling the results of googling “mark of cain” from mid-late season 9 through to like, 10x18 when an actual brief plot appeared around it directly.
I think all of it points to a problem of working forwards from where they were instead of backwards to tidy up what was left. In season 6 Edlund took as many loose plot threads, from how Sam lost his soul, what was up with Crowley and Cas, the angel war, explanations for Sam and Samuel working together, why eve happened, everything, and put it all together to explain the elements of the season so far in a new light. Despite how disastrous that season was, PRETENDING you knew like you meant to do it all along glosses over inconsistencies in Samuel’s story or Cas and Crowley’s 6x10 interactions, and makes them relatively inconsequential when most of the details add up.
The same thing works with the Lucifer as Sam’s vessel storyline, in the sense that while Azazel’s plan is fucking ridiculous in its over-complex bizarre attempt to find a worthy true vessel that Heaven had fated, comparing season 1-2 to season 5 head on is bad, each season explains itself from the last in enough of a way and with enough knowledge of what already happened that really despite vast inconsistencies in the lore, by 5x22 we are pretty much all on board to accept the way it all played out because they use what was previously written to build up Sam’s arc, and little details thrown in towards the end like Brady and then Lucifer revealing ALL of Sam’s closer rando peeps had been demons, tidy up more and more loose ends and there’s left with plausible deniability about a lot of the issues.
In season 10 they kept on introducing elements instead of working with what they had already established, and also discarded what seemed like major plot hooks for Rowena and Cole, one annoyingly, one completely metatextually understandably and fuck TAW, I’m glad the show never brought Cole back as soon as rumours of him groping fans appeared, and it makes me genuinely trust that the SPN set is a safe place. But yeah.
Things they set up and could have worked with, were the Cas’s grace arc, which was resolved to a small personal satisfaction to Cas without any major plot impact except we could stop worrying about when Cas would get sick and die from bad grace, or steal more.
The demon!Dean issue was bad writing from Buckleming re: was he still a demon or not, but given Dean was supposed to be struggling with succumbing to darkness the season actually kept him almost completely level without any significant relapses, even after killing Cain. The sense of needing a functional Dean Winchester to keep hunting monsters and prop up the show as both the carrier of the mytharc, the emotional core, and the go-between between Sam and Cas even when the show was trying to figure out if Sam and Cas could function without Dean, it was all still so much about Dean that in 10x21 when they’re doing the cringeworthy “for Dean” thing and Rowena rolls her eyes like “I barely know the man”, I was actually applauding Buckleming snark thinking they maybe briefly had a handle on how ridiculous Dean’s position in the narrative was. (Listen, this was the last 10 minutes of my innocence about how awful Buckleming could be, leave past!me alone. She’s sweet and precious and not bitter :P) In any case, a more effective season would have utilised him more to slip and slide between light and dark and explore it in much deeper detail, but balancing that with a procedural formula doesn’t work as well and they were lacking enough philosophers on staff. I think the Dabb era writing team could handle it, because Yockey, Perez, and Glynn especially, who seems to have a psychology background based on her writing, all have a sharp attention to the exact things in emotional arcs that would have made it work better, even just as it was. Since this was a weaker writing team where Robbie, Bobo and Dabb episodes were little islands of excellence and the motw were fun but more shallow even with strong foreshadowing themes, it just didn’t pay off.
I think the biggest waste of time was “the river ends at the source” which was either Buckleming trying to introduce a concept and hoping someone else dealt with it, or an agreed plot hook which never materialised, or Metatron literally spoke the truth, that the line had only ever been written to mess with us. However 10x23 could have actually included more of a “river ends at the source” sort of slant and had Death confirm it in so many words because Amara really did sort of seem to be the answer to the question. In 10x10 it seemed like they knew where the season was going, but by 10x17 it was obvious they DIDN’T, and it was during 10x18 that the plot actually got hashed out and Robbie was handed heavy revisions to make to change the Stynes to end of season villains and the Book of the Damned was going to be used how it was. I think this is really weak plotting, as someone who always puts in fun lines and then attempts like crazy to pay off on them. My first novel has the line “you can’t talk to me yet” and I play through that the whole book until they CAN talk and make it a major motif, goal and in the end try to explain it as best I can about how it’s all plot relevant and why using that for tension to put off the explanations and such was a valid thing to throw at my main character, and then the springboard to more adventure when she was ready for it. I literally do not understand putting a portentous line into your story, and not becoming desperately eager to answer it or twist something into revealing how it all fits at the end, if not basing your entire story off of it. Sam and Dean seemed wildly uncurious about how to apply that or what it means.
In season 6 one of the more frustrating things is the “it’s all about the souls” line because Dean fails to investigate until someone or other rolls their eyes and makes it all clear to him. But we get a few more reminders in Cas’s presence, until we find out his plan, and Crowley repeats that line in 6x20 when making his sales pitch to Cas, if I’m remembering rightly (I hope so :/) and so despite Dean’s infuriating lack of investigation (not that he had a great deal of leads, but still - you could build a plot around it by GIVING him a lead, he’s the fictional character and you’re the writer :P) at the very least they repeat the motif in at least 6x17 and 6x20 to my memory, before the souls thing becomes a lot more obvious about Cas taking the purgatory souls and we’re allowed to actually discuss what he’s up to instead of the vague hints Atropos and Rachel give that they know his plans. 6x07 also hints early on that Purgatory is full of monster souls if you add it all up - the writers knew they were doing SOMETHING with this even if it took to the end of the season for it to all come together. (And that’s something that’s clearly and overarcing plot that Gamble oversaw because she wrote 6x11 and the line then appears in multiple episodes around the place, so that’s not just something Edlund tidied up but an actual effort to write the season well.)
Throwing aside the “river ends at the source” line is wildly frustrating because it wouldn’t have been too hard to apply it thematically and even keep Metatron being a douche while giving the viewer a pay off anyway for our own satisfaction, by showing it had been a theme all along anyway. You CAN squint at season 10 and analyse it through that lens but it’s exhausting when the show doesn’t give us the themes on a platter. It also shows that the plotting is careless and they’re experimenting, and rather than working with what they have, this is in a path of episodes where they’re discarding some plotlines, and we’re beginning to have end of season plotlines hastily pasted onto the end of the season, but they make very little of any of the work already done to build up the season as we’d seen it so far.
Add onto that Charlie being murdered for manpain to motivate some things into action and all the random elements being used, and the sense that Crowley, Cas and Rowena all abruptly ran out of a plotline that had been intended to utilise them and put on a side character duty away from Sam and Dean, the season is extremely messily and carelessly written, and without any real attention to detail to its own themes and characters and plotlines. Even if they’d gone into the season not particularly expecting where to go, they brought a lot to the table early on but then quickly wiped a lot of it off, and brought a lot more stuff to the table instead, which makes season 10 a really wonky, unfinished feeling product as a thing on its own, and the overall story is scrappy and carelessly plotted.
And that is speaking just about the easy plot stuff without getting into the absolute mess of speculation from the Destiel side of fandom wondering wtf was going on with the seeming build up to crypt scenes, colette, the grace cure, etc, that made up the bulk of the speculation but makes actually analysing expectations vs presented product completely impossible to evaluate on that side of things because as always Destiel speculation really overshoots what is expected and was really running wild at that point. I mean, not being judgemental because that was the year I was right in the thick of it. 3 years clear of it now, some of it seems really silly, but those 3 things all seemed clearly built up to our eyes, and we got the reverse crypt scene we’d been expecting since before the season started, and we got the Colette reference which slotted Cas firmly into place as a reminder of how Cain’s peeps lined up against Dean’s, as well as Cas asking Dean to stop, which satisfied the terms and conditions of Dean resisting walking in Cain’s footsteps with the overall set up of the scene. With the way Cas got his grace back and then some other rando cure popped up where Rowena of all people made the sacrifice, I really can’t help feeling like the conspiracy theorist who knows they were right but with the way it all shook out, only people who knew the conspiracy would understand how it didn’t happen and it’s very hard for me to look at that and say that some non-Cas-related cure was coming all along, given the conspicuous dropping of one plotline sort of day of picking up the next >.> But I’ll cede that from my position I might be a bit compromised on that one.
Anyways. To me season 10 is a disaster that only season 11 really justifies, while season 6 has some truly low points but in the end the actual writing skill hauls it through so that it creates the illusion that there was consistency, if you ignore everything outside of the text suggesting it may have been as poorly planned as season 10. Planning isn’t everything - it’s what you do when confronted with the unplanned wire tangle in front of you that really marks how well they were written, and just shoving it under the table and putting a new wire tangle down vs actually unpicking it and making them as neat as possible? Gamble slam dunks Carver :P

WIP IT GOOD
I've missed a couple of updates, but it was mostly through being extremely disorganised, so there's that. I think I will save my Crusade league round-ups for next month when the league ends, and do a big post for the whole thing.
Other than that I have been building and priming some models, so let's see what I've been up to!
First up is the final build of the Invictor I was working on in July. I settled on a pose where he is scanning for a target - due to the angle of the legs I needed to reposition the pin joint in the waist so the torso wasn't leaning back, and it's worked pretty well! I added a few Space Wolf embellishments and he was ready to prime. Hopefully he'll be on the table early next year (potentially, the next Crusade league).
Because I'm not exactly troubling the top places of the league, and they're happy for bare plastic to be used, I decided to build the Hammerfall Bunker to use in the next round. It's very much a brick, but the kit was a joy to put together (two identical sprues, ingenious). While it is considered a bit of a joke, I'm actually looking forward to seeing how it fares. I've got a few wolfy details to add to it (some wolf head bits from the Canix Rex Knight kit, maybe some bits from the Stormwolf too), and then it'll be ready to prime when the weather improves.
Performed a little bit of a hair transplant on one of the Incursor marksmen from July, those specialist marines are now also primed. I also got a unit of Outriders put together for the next round of league games - there'll be pictures of those on the tabletop to come no doubt.
Rather than doing any painting over the last couple of months (the exception being below), I decided to kitbash a Wolf Priest instead - a model I don't really have a plan for, I think I just had the idea for it and couldn't shake it until I had actually built it.
Since the Wolf Priest fills the role of both Chaplain and Apothecary in the lore (the former more than the latter in the rules), I had long had the idea of basing the model on the Primaris Apothecary and working from there. I pared back a lot of the Apothecary detail like the backpack (and the fallen marine he is standing on), feeling like the healing kit on his right thigh and the geneseed vials around his neck, as well as the tools in his apron(?), were enough to show the duality of his role.
The arms are from the Chaplain from the Indomitus box. I replaced the top of his crozius with a more suitable (and subtle) part. The double-headed wolf symbol of Morkai, the Fenrisian wolf-god of death and guardian of the Gates of Death - perfect as the badge of office for the man who would oversee the passing of a marine's soul to the afterlife. His pistol is also a conversion - I took a boltgun from the Grey Hunters sprues and noticed it was almost exactly the same size as the Absolver bolt pistol the Chaplain was initially armed with. I cut the magazine down to the same size, and it really looks the part.
One suitably senior-looking head and a dead Thousand Son to stand on later, and he's ready to be primed!
And finally, something completely different.
I met up with my best buds from Uni for a weekend at the end of September, and I was determined to get Fury of Dracula onto the table after failing to a couple of times in the past. I was so determined in fact, I painted the playing pieces from the game as further incentive to get it played. It worked, and they went down a treat, and it was actually a nice little project away from hulking space marines.
Maybe Imperial Assault next...?

The Most Average Collab (A JSE Egos Fanfic)
[I hope you all take joy in knowing that after this fic, which is the first ever chapter in the Chase Brody part of my fics, I will finally start attempting to do both the JSE and the Mark side of my fics, rather than just staying in my current comfort zone, since I figured out that the only way for me to create my own little headcanons about the egos and the ego lore is for me to make a bunch of fics and pretend they’re relevant-]
[Also, don’t worry, Anti’s first ever chapter will come soon, too. It’ll just be a while because I have quite a bit to set up for it before I actually make it.]
[September 18th]
Chase yawned, a bit exhausted, as he had woken up about an hour ago, and the sun was still barely breaching the horizon, so it was pretty dark out. He had decided to just walk to the Bro Average set today, so he had to get up a bit earlier than normal. It was probably around 6:40-7AM, and the majority of the others living in their neighborhood were either already at work or just asleep at this hour, with Henrik and Robbie being the only exceptions that he could think of.
He diverged from the sidewalk, deciding he wanted to go the scenic route today, since he would obviously arrive fairly early if he followed the road for the entire walk there. The path was used often, so even with its thick surrounding vegetation and woodlands, the lines of where the path ended and the forest began were very clear. He hadn’t brought his actual gun with him today, since they were filming a bunch of stunts that involved things like skateboarding, parkour, and probably even attempting to do a full, 360° aerial flip on a dirt bike.
He heard a twig snap, which was followed by computer glitch noises, and he turned, knowing exactly who was there. Anti.
“Oh, hey bro. Funny thing, actually- I was almost starting to miss your annoying, squeaky ten-year-old voice!” Chase mocked the glitch, even though he was fully aware of how stupid that was to try and pull off without any method of defending himself against the dark ego.
Silence.
Well, shit. If he wasn’t going to attack me before, he’s definitely gonna do it now. Chase internally facepalmed at his stupidity. He turned around, and continued walking to work, but quickening his pace this time, since he knew that if he managed to get to a place where there were witnesses that wouldn’t even stop to consider what they were gonna do before jumping into the fight and helping Chase, Anti would be less inclined to attack him.
It took him about 10-15 minutes to actually get there, and thankfully, Anti seemed to have just been watching the events of today unfold for now, since he didn’t hear anything to indicate the demon’s return. He clocked into work, and entered the studio, where he was greeted warmly by the few others whom tended to arrive early- The director, producer, and a few other high-positioned names in the crew.
The day went by quickly, and thankfully, they ended up finishing the recording process early on, and he was sent home around 5:46 that evening, so he had time to record a few videos for the channel. He had no idea what to do, though, so, since Mark was still going to be in town for the next few days, he messaged him, asking if he wanted to attempt to do a collab video.
After a few minutes, Mark messaged back.
Sure, we could give it a shot.
But, uh, you’re not gonna freak out like Jack did, are you?
He rolled his eyes.
No. Why would I? Not like I’m suffering from brain damage.
Mark took a bit longer this time.
You sure, dude? I mean, you did fuck yourself up pretty badly for a few months, back when you did that power hour.
He sighed in annoyance. God, when would Mark let that incident go? Literally everyone else had already done so!
Mark. For the love of god. That was nearly two years ago
This time, his asshole “friend” responded a lot quicker.
Yeah, I know. I was just checking. See you in a few.
The collab video went pretty smoothly, and, for once, they even ended up getting stuff done. They had brainstormed over what to record while Mark was on his way, and for about 15 minutes after Mark arrived. Actually, it wasn’t until Chase started editing the video to add in the audio and facecam that he realized the video wasn’t actually as normal as he thought. It was about 20 minutes long, which left plenty of room for things to have gone wrong.
About 2 minutes in, the facecam glitched, with that familiar, green static look that came with Anti’s presence.
6:03- RGB color distortion. The audio distorted as well, and all he could make out was, in a highly distorted form of Mark’s voice, “I̺͔̩͞'̭̹m̀ ̻ͦ͝s̡̱̰̳̙̮̰̊̂͊̈́ͬ͗̔ͅtͥͣ͗ͨ̂̇͐iͫͣ͋͏̬͓̞l͔̱̾͊l͇̙͚͈͓̣͞ͅ ̰̫͖̠̅̉̈́́hͣͩͮè͚r͍̗̞̰͇̔ͥ͗͋̈́e̯̳̦͟“, which freaked him out a bit, since he thought that only Anti was able to screw with the videos he or one of the other septic egos recorded.
15:24- What he could only assume was either glitched screaming or laughter was faintly heard in the background of the video, and he knew it couldn’t have been game audio, since the game they were playing at that point wasn’t at all glitchy or horror-based.
18:01- More RGB color distortion, however, this time, it extended past the facecam, and affected the gameplay recording too. The audio distorted about 15 seconds later, and the same voice was heard, but this time, it said, “Y̸̤ȯ̧͛ụ̰̝̲͈̰͙̋ͯ̿ͫ͆͛̚'͍͍r̙̦͉͓̻̒͐͐̒̒ě͐̓͟ ͪ̔̂͗͝g̰̳o̴͉͔̟i̮̻̫͓̤̳͐͂́̍ͣ̍n̔g̶ ̶t̝̹̙̹̙̍̏̈ͫ̾o͍̦̗͉̯̖̐̐̈ͩ̏͐ ̵̼͓͓̗ͦͨ̇̀r̖͓̻̰͔͚̄̊ͭ̚̚̚̚ͅe̷͖ͪġ̼̠͖̐ͩ͢r̞̣e͉͕̅ͥtͅ loc҉̦̠̦͓̫̳̝k̺̝͍͍͔̼͌ͦͣ̈́ͤ̂͡i̐͆̔̐ͩͤn͙̖͇̼̲̖̤̐͑͛̉̇ͭͤg͖̹̪ ̭̥̤ͣ̀̋m͟e̘̰̣̜̫̲̠͑̐͐͗͌ͭ́ ̢̲̙̙̋̿̐aw̬̼̜͓̪̫͕ä̃͋͑̓̓ͬy̛̱͚̞̯̮̫͈͐ͬ͆ͨͣ̈́ͣ.̶͌͑̄̄̿̆͑”. He felt chills run down his spine, because this meant that this wasn’t a joke. It was legitimately Dark this time- He knew that, because he knew Marvin had helped Mark trap Dark somewhere inside his computer, back in the beginning of the year, and, also, at Mark’s desperate demanding, had wiped all memory of anything related to the entity from his mind, which, was thus the reason why Mark was totally clueless about the situation with Dark and Jack.
21:04- The post-outro clip Chase and Mark had recorded was corrupted, and Chase swore he could hear Anti’s maniacal laughing in the background, as the video distorted beyond recognition, on all levels.
The recording autosaved itself, despite Chase’s attempts to prevent it from happening. He knew the video couldn’t go up on the channel, it was too dangerous to risk the community freaking out over the sudden, apparent team-up of the channels’ darkest egos, before the rest of them even had a plan formulated to prevent total chaos, death, and destruction raining down on Mark and Chase’s friends.
Suddenly, his screen went black, and he screamed when he saw the familiar face of Dark appear on the monitor.
“It was stupid of you to help them, Jack.” The demon said.
“I’m not Jack! I-I’m just one of his egos!” Chase protested.
“Now that I’m finally free again, we will come for you. Both of you.”
It immediately became obvious that Dark couldn’t hear him- this was probably a pre-recorded message- when there was no reaction to what he said.
“If you are really as clever as he says, then you should already know that there will be no stopping the chaos that we have ready for you.”
The lights in the egos’ house glitched off, and he felt nothing but pure dread as the recording went on.
“My advice to you? Repent your mistakes, and allow my ally to win at his game, and maybe, I will consider sparing you in my endgame.”
The recording cut to an end after that, and to Chase’s horror, he found that the collab video had been uploaded.
This was just the beginning to one gigantic nightmare.
