Calisto Ferzan Hermenegildo Melchior Lorencio De La Cruz, or best known as the Witch's Advocate.

The eldest born of Lord Bonaventura De La Cruz, he had been born out of wedlock to a fae woman his father had an affair with; the affair was buried and everyone was led to believe the lie Bonaventura told. Even his siblings were raised on the lie. The only ones to know the truth would be Calisto himself, and his father.

From a young age, Calisto would have a distant relationship with his family. He rarely got along with his siblings, and his parents frequently turned their back on him. Since he was alone at a young age, he disowned himself at fifteen and left the household. His time would be spent training in the assassin guild in the dark, and attending school to become a lawyer.

At twenty, he returned to his family, at their behest. He seized control and took the power from his father. Around this time, he took his first wife, a woman by the name of Catalina; their marriage lasted a little over a year, due to her death in childbirth. And he soon took a second wife, a woman by the name of Rosalita.

By twenty-nine, Calisto has become the youngest and most successful sitting member of the Order of Witchesbane. Distant from the others, he has dedicated himself to undoing their work and changing their standards. He's one man, but he's determined to right past wrongs. And along the way, he may adopt a few strays, and incidently cause the death of a few people who deserve it.

Fun Facts

• If you put him on the alignment scale, he falls under 'Chaotic Lawful'. He has a code of honour, but nobody can figure out what it is.

• He is Placio-Pansexual and Aromantic.

• He's also genderfluid. If he wants to wear a dress and heels one day, nobody is stopping him. If he wants to wear a suit, nobody is stopping him. He goes up and beyond to break gender norms, and aims to give everyone a heart-attack.

• 95% of his found family are witches. He has a habit of taking them in, protecting them, and becoming fond of them.

• He very much embraces the expectation of fae: he won't ever tell a lie, but good gods does he know a loophole when he spots it.

• He has a set of fae wings that he will typically keep binded to his chest. The only ones that have gotten the privilege of seeing them are his wives.

• Within the assassin guild, his title was the Lemon Spider. To which led to the nickname of Lemon.

• His wife, his best friend, and himself are all assassins. And yes, they all use their talents to protect their family and the children in their care.

• Every deity he worships tends to be a woman. It is a confidence, truthfully, but it speaks to his character.

Prudence C. Frye, the bastard son of Zachariah D. Frye and his elvish mistress Elmyra. At a young age he was raised by his father to follow his family traditions to become a witch-hunter. Religiously, he took to his studies, for his father's approval. By the age of four, he would begin the lifestyle, by being the leading hand to persecute his own mother, see her charged with witchcraft, and sentenced to burn at the stake; by age ten, he would have caused the death of three more women, each charged with witchcraft and burnt at the stake.

Blindly, he followed his father's teachings until age twelve. By this point, Prudence would be taken in by the De La Cruz household, and through their guidance he would develop his own path and traditional beliefs. With time and patience, Prudence would break away from his father, begin setting barriers and boundaries, and start changing his ways; rather than seeing witchcraft at its worse and something to be exterminated, he would take the stance of the De La Cruz to protect witchcraft, and only persecute those that truly do harm.

Fun Facts:

• At the start of ARIH he's sixteen; when he appears in TSOVI he's eighteen/nineteen.

• The C in his name stands for Clemency.

• He's a half elf. At a young age he cropped his ears, and he's taken the necessary precautions to hide his materna heritage.

• He identifies as Quoisexual and Demi-Homoromantic. And yes, he spends a lot of time in the closet, as has to become a comfortable with his attraction.

• His birth name is Nelumbo, he prefers to keep it a secret and shares it with selected few.

• He is genderfluid, and tends to lean more feminine than masculine. He rarely indulges himself, nor does he share this about himself.

• He's able to see spirits and communicate with them. The catch is, they're all people his father has killed, or been responsible for killing.

• In his spare time, he writes romance poetry, typically to his boyfriend. He never shares it, as it's something he's embarrassed about.

• Every night he journals about his day, no matter how mundane it was. Frequently he writes in Elvish, as a way to be close to his mother.

• If given the opportunity, he will instigating a rap battle. I've written him in two rap battles as it sits, and I'm making this canon now.

• He has memorized every sacred text there is. So watch him quote them and put people in their places when they try to use them improperly.

♧ Featuring: Well for all of you out there who love the found family trope, I got big news for you! On top of, a diverse LGBTQ+ cast of characters, complex and complicated characters, morally grey characters, complex world building, plenty of symbolism, fantasy religions, unique character arcs, if a dnd campaign got written as a story, not necessarily 'the chosen' one but they definitely take up the challenge as if they're meant to; I'm sure I'm missing some, but you get the point!

♧ Setting: Okay so like... You'll get to explore the ENTIRE world in this one. From the Western European inspired countries, to the Ancient Roman inspired Societies, to a Napoleonic France inspired nation, to indigenous islands, to.... Yeah, no, you're getting a whole look at the world in this one.

♧ Synopsis:

It starts with saving the life of an emperor....— scratch that, it starts sooner than that. It starts with a runaway noblelady, a woman who wants to change her life, an eldritch being that takes the form of a weasel, a wanted bastardized nobleman, and an assassin. Together they all take up a misfit job, never telling the truth to one another, aiming to use each other for their own gain.... They come out if it friends, forgetting the original plan.

So, they become an adventuring group together for some years, until an old friend calls in a favor. That's when it starts, saving the life of an emperor. They're rewarded a keep, a paycheck, and newfound nobility. Sure, it wasn't what they all intended, but it happened. Life looks good for them.

They adopt a child of mischief and care for him as if he was there own. And some years later, the child's mother comes looking for him... She joins the family too, with her own mischief group of trouble.

The family grows bigger.

No, none of them mind, not in truth. The keep is large and quiet, really. They prefer the noise and company. They're a happy family together, until...

You probably guessed it by now. Remember the runaway noblelady? Her cousin winds up in town, with a few friends, all hiding from their past, and the law. You guessed it. They stay at the keep and... Well, they never leave. They become family too.

So what happens when you have three different adventuring groups living together?

Well, it certainly isn't a peaceful, quiet life. Mischief is around every corner, and they celebrate life every day— because hey, you don't always survive slaying a manticore, or stopping a nation from going to war, or even protecting your friends from their past....

But you know what doesn't happen to every adventuring group? Not all of them have to fight a war bigger than themselves. Not all of them take up championships from the gods to fight a field bigger than themselves.

The group originally thought the worst foe they would have to deal with is... Well, they collectively decided his new name is Dickzini. He's a fool, and easy to handle. But, they never knew someone else pulled his strings.

And that person?

That person, who's older than even Khaalida herself, wants to burn the world to the ground as they know it.

So, no more keep. No more politics. No more partying every night. No more misfit jobs. It's time to wield a weapon and prepare for war. Not to protect the world, but to protect each other. It's not a problem if they will do it... But even if they never voice it to one another, they fear if they'll all make it out alive.

"So?"

"So what?"

Rihtyxr faltered where he stood when the nonchalant response was given. The bastard didn't even look up from his dinner plate... He had to stop himself from scrunching his face and showing his annoyace.

He took in a breath, his tail flicking behind him. "What do you think?"

"About?"

Rihtyxr had to bite his bottom lip and tap his fingers against his legs to stop himself from doing something rash. "... The kid— my kid— I was introducing you to..."

"Oh." The knife stopped scraping against the plate. A napkin was picked up, used to dab away the ichor, before dropped onto the plate. Hands neatly folded, Rons'ta lifted his head to stared forward. "I don't like it."

Again, Rihtyxr faltered. "What do you mean—"

"You're playing with something dangerous, Rîxie." Purposely, he used that nickname to infuriate the trickster. "It'll either cost you your crown, if not your life... If we are lucky."

The trickster scoffed. "You're simply paranoid, like always, you bastard. My own flesh and blood would never do me harm!"

Rons'ta was quick to scowl. As it was a rare occasion, he allowed himself to slam a fist against the table and raise his voice at his compatriot. "You should have smothered it in its crib, you arrogant fool!" In he breathed. Out he exhaled. He raised his glass to his lips and looked away, muttering against the rim of the cup. "... You've birthed the end of all things, Nameless Ones help us all when he realizes his power.... Khaalida take pity on the fools to stand in his way..."

Dámianus took in a breath when he heard the familiar, annoying footsteps stomping forward. With haste, came the familiar, annoying voice. "Can you believe it?!"

Breathing in, it took his full strength to keep a leveled tone, not show his annoyance. "Believe what?"

His brother scowled, as if he was the idiot present. "They failed!"

"Pity." Was all Dámianus could think to say. He had to hide his smile upon hearing the news. He had an act to keep. "They must have not followed the plan, I did give them detailed instructions after all."

"How are you so apathetic?!" Makjo scoffed, eyes rolling. "That's our father—"

"Your father." Dámianus corrected. "You are his son, I am his errand boy."

"Oh wow, its a misery you proved yourself capable and he saw your potential!" Makjo mockingly threw back, going as far to make a fake, crying gesture to accompany his words.

Dámianus, however, quick to smile, tilted his head to the side. "Oh, does that mean he saw no potential in you?"

It was worth it, to watch the brat's features scrunch and his face to go red. A finger raised, and going to bite back. "You—"

Already walking off, Dámianus tucked the parchment beneath his arm. "I suppose I will go meet with our allies and see what went wrong." Casually he spoke, striding forward, leaning down, pecking his brother's cheek, and using the opportunity to quietly whisper, "Don't grow too comfortable. Many people will come for your crown." Before Makjo could reply, he had already taken his leave, to find better company he could tolerate.

At least the brat was an idiot. He had yet to see through everything. He had slipped up with their father, the bastard caught on at the last second. He barely corrected that.. But he had no doubt with Makjo, the brat would never see anything coming... still. He needed to be more careful if all were to be successful.

♧ Brief Backstory:

The eldest of Rihtyxr's hundreds of children, Dámianus always served closer as an errand boy than a son. He grew up fast, without the choice of a childhood, to take care of his siblings. Early on, he accepted his role in the family and gracefully handled the responsibilities thrusted onto him. The older— maturer— he became, the more he would distant himself form his family and those family ties. He treated his family like colleagues and allies and not a family.

Only by the influence of Jitka and Isfétte would Dámianus finally accept his gifts and natural talent as a mastermind, and one manipulative son of a bitch. With their assistance and guidance, he would hone his talent to have power over them. When he finally held a strong belief in himself, he set himself to the task of consuming power. Slowly, he turned the allies of his family against them, buying their loyalty to serve him.

With the dependence the family held on him to make their plans and ensure their survival, he was able to trick them. He fooled them into going to war with Khaalida, and trapped them under her watch. The power vacuum was his for the taking... But he decided to play the long game. He allowed his siblings to fight for the power, and he accompanied his cousin— G'javinizia — on his travels across the multi-verse for a time. To further his own knowledge and powers.

When he finally became confident in himself once more, he returned. He got his old allies in line and began to form new ones. And soon, he finally began to get involved in the affair of Viogia to plant his influence. When his influence was sewn deep, Dámianus created his human guise and entered, to act first hand and began inacting the plans he had started so long ago.

• He has a pet cat named Grumpy, it's based off a displacer beast!

• He takes a shot of whiskey every time one of his idiots does something stupid.

• He's a man that just wants a vacation at this point, somewhere nice and quiet, a distant beach, without responsibilities.

• He says he doesn't like children, but if given the opportunity he'd probably adopt an entire orphanage or seventy.

• The only people he will possibly listen to, to get him to back down from doing something, is Jitka and Isfétte.

• He knows how to hold a grudge. It doesn't matter how many years it takes, he'll get payback... In an extreme fashion that is probably unwarranted in that degree.

• Given the chance, he would kill 96% of his siblings and family...

• Although he's the source of major chaos in the universe, he cares deeply for order and rules.

• In public he will dress in tailcoats, but as long as he's home he prefers to wear a variety of kimonos.

• The only way you can upset him is by: mentioning Rons'ta in his presence, favoring his siblings in his presence, dissing his nanny, being disrespectful towards women when he's around, hurting and/or belittling children and animals in his presence. And then, and only then, he'll kill you without remorse!

6) Do you typically find yourself projecting your own traits onto your OCs?

Yes. At least 95%. Very shamelessly too. It's a nice way to explore my own identity, my personality, my morals, my character entirely. As it's also a good vent that helps with me coming to terms with my trauma and unlearning it and being a better person.

7) Which OC wasn’t supposed to exist but captured your heart immediately?

This answer is quite long so I'm putting a cut here:

Oh gods... For starters, Jek and Sigurd definitely. Time Weasel. Gods I love the Weasel Brothers. All of the Blood Siblings. Uhhhmm... Maemis definitely. The Shaman. SVIHAR. Gods there are so many...

I'll ramble a little about them, since I'll likely never introduce them here since I have no major wips about them... But I could probably make them.

Jek is short for Jehoiakim Chrysanthemum Lehr-Maus-Sanguinex-Nagid. He's a king in his own right and I love him. He's the half twin brother of Jaak, who is essentially like, my Hitler? Yes, Jaak gets an ending that's befitting for him. But this isn't about him. It's about how amazing and unhinged Jek is. This boy would stab his brother in his neck, stick his dog familiar (who's name is Bear, and he best boi) on his brother to try to rip his limbs off, he would deck his brother and start public fights... He's completely unhinged with his bastard brother. But with everyone else he's a complete gentleman and softie! He adopted a bunch of ragtag delinquents and pretty much reformed them. He tortured a god for assistant on killing his brother... Yeah, I fucking love Jek.

Sigurd is the oldest of the Flora siblings. Too too is unhinged, but with his father. His father tried to kill him at seven by throwing him in a dragon's pit. He barely survived. But ever since then, he decided he would be a nuisance and live only out of spite and would one day kill his father. He's a gentle giant that owns at least fifty knives, can kill you two thousand different ways, and knows how to beat some serious ass and teach people their place. But he loves flowers and taking care of his siblings!!! His entire life was essentially at war with his father, so he doesn't know how to live peacefully now.

I'd like to go on record, with these two, they were essentially plot characters, just names to have, and then I REWROTE everything just so they were alive.

Time Weasel is the oldest sibling of the Weasel Brothers. He's the brother of Biscuits [yes, TSOVI's Biscuits]. He's the Keeper of Time. He's very unhinged and mean. If you hurt his feelings even remotely he'll go back in time to make it so you were never born. His brothers Biscuits and Fool Weasels are sweetheart. Biscuits likes humans, and protecting them from Time Weasel. Fool Weasel is a jester Weasel who likes to make people smile! He's a good boi.

The Blood Siblings are sibling goals. They're the only family I have that are blood related and aren't found family. But they were all supposed to be killed by Jaak during the war since they refused to give him their youngest sibling as his child bride. They kick ass together, they beat up anyone who causes them problems, and they just say fuck in general. They're amazing. They have my heart.

Maemis is the son of a really BAD drage. He's just a spoiled and pampered brats. He's like, the equivalent of fifteen, I think? He doesn't know anything except how to look cute and cause problems. He's delightful. I love him.

The Shaman is based heavily off one of my ancestors by the same name. They're essentially a dragon shaman, literally a dragon that's a shaman. It's fucking awesome. They just kind of exist and vibe and I love them.

And Svihar. Oh gods my baby boy. My sweetheart. My amazing and delightful man. He's like, THE oldest dragon, next to the gods. He decided since the gods weren't around to clean up their messes he would just do it. He adopted a bunch of ragtag drages and created a group to basically be dragon guard, dragon police, dragon interpol? 😂. The only way I can explain it. They exist SOLELY to keep peace between drages and humans. They'll beat you up, burn your house down, kill you for being an asshole, but they'll also protect you and help you start a family if you're good. And Svihar just... Wants everyone to hold hands and sing kumbaya honestly. And we love him for it... But he'll fuck your day up if you mess with one of his children.

8) What is your process for picking names for your OCs?

Okay so like... I go to baby name websites and spend at least three hours looking for the perfect name 😂. I always try to match it to a culture that's inspired one of my own creations. If not baby name websites, I go to fantasy name generator.

If I'm making one of my fey/Old Ones, I actually pick a particular word I want them to be inspired by, research that word in different languages and mash shit together.

I.e.

En and Moro I just used, respectfully, fire and ice. For the life of me I can't tell you what languages I used to create Kregznic and Marzomme. But yeah
