Feu Follet It’s boar hunting season here in France and I was thinking about some fae out there in the woods trying to protect the boars and some unfortunate hunter coming across her. So yep that’s the little story I made up while being influenced by my surroundings.

Mini fic Will o’ the wisp Venti

Small part to a fic I’m working on that I thought was cute therefore perfect to share here :D

Diluc watches as the Traveler and his companion walk into Angel’s Share. “Be with you two in a minute.” He calls.

“Okay!” Paimon answers for them both, Aether simply nodding and taking a seat at the bar.

Diluc finishes what he was doing, turning to the two, that’s when he notices it.

There’s a will o’ the wisp nestled in Aether’s scarf. Strange sure, but then so is the Traveler. He will not question it.

Diluc does however a double take when Aether begins to talk to it.

“No, you’re not getting alcohol.”

A small chirrup comes from the creature, clearly dejected by the news.

“He doesn’t even let me drink, and you certainly don’t look of age now!” the creature looks upset, giving an angry little noise and biting at Aether’s scarf.

“Venti stop that!”

He doesn’t stop not until the blonde is forcefully removing the wisp from his clothing and setting him on the bar.

“Paimon wants her regular please!” The fairy speaks up and Diluc is forced to turn his gaze away from the small teal creature and turn towards her.

Aether orders another glass of sparkling grape juice for both himself and the spirit.

“Better?” the traveler says.

He gets a small chirp.

“You’ll live.” He pets the wind spirit’s head.

“Is that really Venti?” Diluc asks. He can’t help but notice that the bard hasn’t been showing up as frequently as he used to. “How did this happen?”

He reaches out a finger, surprised when the spirit presses it’s face into his hand with a delighted squeak.

“Tone deaf bard was very sad and then just went poof!” Paimon explains, ever so helpfully. “And now he’s tiny and he hasn’t turned back for days and is hogging all of what should be Paimon’s attention.” She says shooting the wisp a glare.

“Huh.” Is all Diluc can say in response to her. “Is he alright like this?”

Aether shrugs.

“Paimon thinks he’s happy like this. Aether likes him too, another travel buddy, only Paimon’s the best clearly.” The young girl chimes in once more. “Now no more about him Paimon wants more juice!”

The herbalist had told me of wisp creatures which lurked in the low lands here. Of course, upon finding one I proceeded to ignore his warnings to stay away from them.

The creature is fully sentient, like a tooka or better. I can sense it in the force. Its surface even feels like fur, if fur could be made of smoke and fire. A bit too warm to be comfortable, but worth a minor burn for the sensation.

It tried to eat me. I found this quite charming, and caught it a flying insect the size of my head to eat instead.
