I think to much

I've been seeing a lot of posts talking about whether or not Will Byers have a gun. My personal take-I know no one asked- is that Will has a gun, and can use it just fine. When the demodogs come charging? BLAM! If he cries that night because he killed a living thing? I don't see how that's anybody's business. Well, except for Mike. Mike heard. If Will falls asleep with Mike's long arms wrapped around him? That's a secret nobody needs to know. When they fight Vecna though, all Will hears is the screams of those being ripped apart by the demodogs. All he sees are the demodogs knocking Bob to the ground, his dead body and blood soaked scrubs on the ground moments later. All he smells is the disgusting, putrid smell of the dead. All he tastes is that toxic snow of the Upside Down. All he feels is the gun is his hand. The safety off.

"Do it. Become the man your father always wanted you to be." Vecna goads him. He can't be his father's son though. He won't leave bruises on anyone's back. He won't come back for the money. He-

"Will!" Mike's voice tore him from his thoughts. Will looked up and his heart shattered as he saw Mike, vines wrapped around his throat, pinning him to the tree. The love of his life. Mike goddamned Wheeler. He still feels the ghost of his kiss against his lips. He'll die if he doesn't do this. Everyone'll die if he doesn't do this. He lifts the gun, hand shaking, and aims it.

"It's okay! You don't have to do this!" Mike shouted, giving him that small perfect smile.

"Do it. Do it. Do it." Vecna chanted, smiling. He knew he won. Poor little William Byers was much too weak to pull the trigger. He was a fairy. A queer. A gay. A fag. Will took a glance around. Surely this couldn't be it. They couldn't come all this way just to lose. El's eyes were closed, trying to use what remained of her powers. Max was cursing out Vecna, despite not being able to see him and barely able to talk because of the vines. Lucas and Dustin were hiding somewhere, keeping off the demodogs, completely unaware of the troubling situation. Vecna has caused all this pain and suffering for what? He was different? Yeah, well join the club.

"Fuck you!" Will spat.

"Yeah! Go Will!" Mike cheered as Max whooped. Will aimed the gun, finger settling on the trigger.

"Kill that Motherfucker!" Max whooped.

"We love you!" El yelled. Those three simple words were enough. More than enough. Will pulled the trigger. It struck Vecna right in the chest. He stumbled back in surprise. The world dulled around him. He thought he would be ready for this. His world turned fuzzy as Vecna's blood splattering on the ground.

"Will!" Mike's words echoed before he landed hard on the floor.

23 years later Will Byers still has nightmares about pulling the trigger. About the blood splatter and the deafening BLAM! It's not all bad stuff though. 23 years later Will Byers is now Will Wheeler-Byers. 23 years later El and Dustin have been happily married for ten years and Lucas and Max have been married for fifteen. 23 years later Mike and Will made the best selling comics Stranger Things. 23 years later Will is happy.

“No” Nancy says as she pulls a concealed carry out of its holster strapped to her pant’s. “Does anyone else know how to shoot a gun?” Hopper asks running from the opposite part of the cabin into his room, grabbing a gun from underneath his bed. “I do, Do you have any ammo?” Will ask. “Here” he says, throwing a box of bullets and a gun over to Will as he cocks the gun and puts ammunition in it. Mike looks at Will in shock. Since when did Will know how to shoot a gun? “Wh-” “In here” Will says, grabbing Mike's hand and pulling him into Hopper's closet. His face is just inches away from Wills. “Oh, uh sorry,” Mike says, trying to back up the most he can. Their bodies squished together from the tightness in the closet. Will's eyes are so big and round, shimmering in the dark. He caught himself staring at him. Mike had to hurry and think of an excuse. “I- I uh-” “Shh they're coming!” Will says to Mike. Mike pulls Will behind him, covering Will, completely protecting him from the intruders as they hear gunshots and screaming outside the closet. Will pushes past Mike. “Stay Here!” He yells to Mike. “No-” Mike says as he tries to get Will to stay in the closet. “STAY HERE!” Will yells as he slams the door shut.

I think Will should use a gun in season 5, but only to show character development.

Since his initial instinct when first saw the demogorgan in s1 was to use a gun, now that everyone is going to be fighting Vecna with weapons, I think that he'll pick up a gun again as others such as Nancy and Hopper will have one and he'll feel like he has to use it in order to save his loved ones. It'll be similar to Jonathan in s1 who clearly has bad memories of using a gun, but tries it anyway as he cares more about saving Will (although I think that Will will be a better shot just so he does use a gun in s5).

However, the point that has been made many times about how learning to shoot is linked to trauma and that Will doesn't have to be made more masculine in order to be a 'stronger' and him liking shooting is kind of ooc anyway.

As guns are linked to Will trying to be a 'real man' and covering up his queer identity by doing something overtly masculine, I think that whilst Will will initially use guns, he won't find them very useful, as Vecna seeks to expose the status quo and destroy it ("conformity, that's what's killing the kids"- or however that line goes) so Will fighting Vecna with something traditionally masculine that he doesn't find strength and power in- which is why Nancy's guns and El's powers have worked for them, they find power in them- won't succeed.

Will will have to find his own way to defeat Vecna and it will likely parallel him truly accepting his queer identity (which honestly seems to be some kind of powers, whether they're light, creation, or an extension of his link to the UD).

Monster Hunting

So after years of being told to watch Stranger Things, I finally did. Season one was, unfortunately, fantastic, and for once I knew all the songs that were played which was wonderful. Anyways, I really liked this duo, so…ta-da

after rewatching the first episode of the first season of Stranger Things, i am now a Will Byers has powers truther. why does Joyce get those phone calls from Will? it’s something unique to season one that hints to Will still being alive. it’s also not like Vecna would be calling Joyce up to rub in her face he stole her son. if not him, then Will? but how??

if Will has powers related to electricity, or has that in his arsenal, then it’d make sense why he can make those lights flicker and why the phone short circuits and literally gets unnaturally burnt. Will’s intense feelings trigger these powers. when Joyce picks up the first call from Will, we hear the sound of a demogorgon and then the phone cuts off. he was so scared that he fried the phone.

also, the UD being stuck on the day Will went missing? Vecna’s version of the UD is nothing like the perfect copy of Hawkins theorized Will to have made. if Will did indeed create Hawkins when he first entered the UD, and he does have powers relating to electricty, the fruity four are able to contact Dustin, Lucas, and Erica because he somehow left traces of his powers.

there are no magic tinkerbell fairy particles when Vecna is setting off lights in the Creel house, his prescence alone does that. when Joyce and Hopper are in the UD at the end of season one, we see the same example of this.

if we apply this to Will, it would make sense except he was like under 5 feet tall in season one and unless he was being sent flying all around the room, the lights couldn’t flicker the way they did. no, they’re set off by Will’s powerful feelings alone.

there’s also the possibilities of him being able to create gates like El has. there’s the scene where El channels Will through the radio Mr. Clarke got for the kids at the school, and Joyce is speaking to Will through the wall. what explanation is there for this? we’ve seen some sort of figure coming through the wallpaper multiple times.

whether it’s Will sometimes or the demogorgon others, we don’t know. but Will spent his time in the UD hiding in his house, which could be why the demogorgon finds a way through the same wall Will was seen talking to his mom in. he was only at Castle Byers later when El is in her sensory deprivation tank and he finally gets taken by the demogorgon. and how is he able to see her through the void?

there are so many unanswered questions about these events that never get mentioned again and never happen again in the rest of the series. you know why? because Will never goes to the UD again, and he never talks about it. probably because it was traumatizing, but there’s definitely something weird about Will being in the UD. if, in season 5, we do get Will in the UD again, and it’s confirmed he has powers, him being in the UD would be the trigger for this.

Thank you!! I am so tired of people acting like Nancy needs to be "freed" from her loving, supportive relationship so that she can achieve her Full Girlboss Potential.
