So I got this idea about a Zosan Soulmate AU and just had to write a little bit about it. I don't know how fast I can update this, but its a start and I’m going to keep writing it 😊
My Name on your tongue
Part 1
Paring: Zosan (maybe Sanzo, too)
Soulmate AU
Triggers: Child abuse, swear words, death
Six years old
“In our world, you get something very special when you turn 18. You get to summon a familiar - an animal, mythical or natural - that will be your companion throughout your whole life. The animal you summon is based on what you need in life and what fits you. No one knows who’s assigning the animal to you, but it always fits.
Now, if you are very passionate and loving toward your familiar and it returns that feeling, there is a chance that it will turn into a human and become your soulmate. But this only happens when there exists such a strong bond that both of you would endure the greatest pain imaginable for the other. The bond has to be so strong that you’d die for each other.
Most people don't put in the effort because why go to that length for an animal? Also, there is no greater need to be with your soulmate unless your familiar turns into it. You can perfectly live without ever getting your soulmate.”
“Is father your soulmate?” Sanji wanted to know, looking up at his mum.
Sora shook her head, her expression somewhat painful, but her son didn't pick up on that fact.
“But…you don't have a familiar around.”
“I know,” Sora swallowed drily. “She…she died. She wanted to protect me and got badly injured. I couldn't help her.”
Sanji looked shocked at her.
“I’m sorry…”
He snuggled against his mother to comfort her. She smiled sadly and brushed a hand through his blond hair.
“When you get your familiar, make sure to protect them. It’s a really bad feeling to lose them forever.”
“I promise. And I will love them so much! I can't wait to meet them!”
Sanji was so different from his siblings, and Sora was thankful for that, but she knew that he would have it worse than them. While pregnant with him and his three brothers, her husband genetically modified them - against Sora’s will. He made them stronger, more durable - as he called it - faster and better in anything. He got rid of their emotions and made sure they would become his best soldiers. In doing this, he also hoped to influence the familiar they’d get. He wanted them to have big, brutal animals - monsters to make their enemies shake in fear. Sora had watched him silently get rid of the emotions and feelings of their oldest child, their daughter Rejiu. He somehow managed to manipulate her into an obedient, emotionless kid, strong and fast, and an expert in poisons despite her young age. She was his first perfect soldier.
But Sora wasn't standing by as he tried to corrupt her other children! So, after learning about Judges doing, Sora took a poison to destroy the modifications. Unfortunately, it only worked on Sanji. On the one hand, she was happy for him; on the other, she was sad and devastated. Sanji would never have any worth for his father; he’d always be the failure, and she was the reason why.
Although Sanji always smiled when he came to visit, she saw the bruises and cuts. She saw the pain behind his young eyes. She knew what his siblings and father were doing to him, and she could do nothing to stop them. So she always tried to give him the best times when he came to visit her. Unfortunately, the poison she took destroyed her body and made her bedbound.
Hugging Sanji tightly, she did her best not to start to cry. She knew that her days were counted…and it would be the end of the night when she would leave Sanji behind to deal with everything all by himself. The only ray of light was that at least on his eighteenth birthday, he would get a familiar that surely would protect him. That was why she told him all about familiars! She wanted him to know as much as possible, as much as humanity found out about them. Sanji sucked everything up like a sponge!
The only thing she wasn't allowed to tell him was how to summon his familiar. Because if a familiar was summoned before the eighteenth birthday, there were terrible side effects. Sometimes, the familiar wasn't fully developed….like the child. Other times, the child couldn't hold the image of the familiar (which was important), and it would turn out deformed. And then there were times when the familiar was an adult and got really protective and possessive of the child - sometimes so much it had to be put down because no one could touch the child without getting attacked, even when the kid was hurt, starving or anything else putting its life in danger. So she wouldn't tell Sanji - even if a protective familiar wouldn't be the worst…she wanted them to have a chance at getting real friends, and Sora hoped Sanji would be allowed to find his soulmate. She hoped he could experience this purest kind of love in the world.
“You need to go,” Sora mumbled into Sanji’s hair. “It’s past visiting time.”
“I don't want to…”
“I know, love. I know. But your father will get mad if you stay, and you know that.”
Sanji nodded, suppressing sobs, as he pulled away from his mother. He lifted his head and smiled at her.
“I’ll come again tomorrow.”
“Yeah, do that. I can't wait to see you again, my little angel.”
Sora hugged him tight and placed a kiss on top of his head. Why should she tell him that she wouldn't be there in the morning? It would only upset him and make him sad and guilty. She felt her spirits leave her body slowly but surely. At the end of the night, she’d be dead, and Sanji would be alone. Before she let him go, she brushed a hand through his hair and made him look up into her eyes.
“Remember that I will always love you, my little sunshine. Regardless of what will happen in your future. I’ll love you every day of your life and after it.”
Sanji looked a bit confused, but as soon as Sora smiled, he smiled back, placed a quick, wet kiss on her cheek and ran out - so his father wouldn't punish him.
~
“Useless!”
“I’m trying…” Sanji sobbed, holding the side of his face - it pulsed with pain, and he was sure his lip was bleeding.
“That's the point!” His father yelled. “You are trying! You shouldn't have to try! You should be able just to do it!”
“But I…” another blow, and Sanji flew backward against a pillar of the training room - he groaned in pain when he hit the stone with full force.
“You are weak! A false experiment! A fucking failure! I should just get rid of you!”
Judge was towering over his son like death himself. And Sanji couldn't do anything different than feel fear and hurt and disgust at his own body. The poison from his father's lips seeped into his mind and planted a dangerous seed. He cried when Judge grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and held him up to his face.
“And that's why you don't have a familiar. You will never get one! Never! I took that ability from you because it would be as weak as you are, and I don't have use for two failures in my kingdom!”
Sanji sobbed uncontrollably. Ever since he asked his father about his own familiar - which was a big, dragon-like creature always lurking behind his throne - he left no chance unused to point out that Sanji would never have one. Sanji didn't understand why he would rip this opportunity from him, why he was such a mistake in his father's eyes. Just because he wasn't as strong as his siblings? Because his skin started to bleed when cut or punched hard enough? Because he cried when he got hurt?
“Get out of my sight before I start losing my temper,” Judge growled and tossed him aside like a back of garbage.
Sanji scrambled to his feet and ran from the training room, hoping his brothers wouldn't wait outside like they did most of the time. His hopes crashed when he closed the door, and laughter sounded behind him.
“Look at that,” Yonji said.
“The weakling is back out,” Ichiji grinned.
“Seems like he still can't handle a punch,” Niji snickered.
His brothers gathered around him, laughing and pointing at him. Sanji felt tears in his eyes but tried to swallow them. He hated to cry in front of his brothers, just as much as he hated to do so in front of his father. His eyes searched for pink hair, and surely, he found his sister, standing in the background but grinning as evil as the rest of them.
“Leave me alone,” he sobbed - knowing very well it would turn in the opposite of what he wanted…but he couldn’t stop himself from saying it.
“What?”
“We couldn’t hear you over all your whining.”
“I think he said we should show him how to fight.”
And a blink of an eye later, he crashed against the wall and slid down to the floor. Lying there, he curled up into a ball to at least try and shield his stomach and face from the kicks and blows that rained down on him like a hailstorm.
In the end, he was beaten bloody, and they left him where he was lying. His eyes stared into nothingness while his tears mixed with the blood and formed little puddles on the floor.
Hours later, he was able to drag himself to his bedroom. Curling up in his bed, Sanji felt tears in his eyes again.
“Why?” He cried into his pillow. “Why am I not like them? Why do I have to be this way?”
He knew why, his mother had told him, but still…There were moments when he hated his emotions, and he would give them up just to see the same smile on his father's face, pointed at him like he was giving his siblings.
He was worthless, and that's also why he would never have a familiar, which made him cry even more. Since his mother died two months ago, he always comforted himself with the knowledge that he’d get a chance to meet his soulmate. But because he was weak, because of his emotions, Judge took this ability, this gift from him. The first time he mentioned it to Sanji, his whole world was shattered. He didn't even feel the hits his father was dealing. He was numb…almost lifeless. The only thing he was looking forward to - the only thing that made his little heart and mind strong enough to survive and not give up - was the reassuring thought of meeting his familiar.
After his breakdown, he thought maybe, if he got better, if he could prove to his father that he was worth keeping around…maybe he would give him the ability to get his familiar back.
“I have to…get stronger…” Sanji sobbed while drifting to sleep.
All he wanted was to be loved and be part of this family…

... I was writing all of this on the tags but I realized it was getting a tiny bit too long so:
I've always liked the idea of Sanuso being established when WCI happens because. Angst. Like. Sanji actively breaking up with Usopp. Sanji's ass is not leaving to get married without AT LEAST breaking up with Usopp first so idk there's a little note for him or something like that. You can imagine how it goes. The letter has tears and everything and shaky messy handwriting. It's a whole mess. So Usopp HAS to go save his boyfriend.
And honestly. Like. Sanji has tried breaking up with Usopp before. Shit doesn't work. Self-sabotaging the relationship is something he can try but never succeeds at. Because Usopp always goes back to him somehow like I am 100% sure Usopp is used to this but-- This time is REAL like wtfffvjdf. Going a bit insane. Literally. The way you draw their facial expressions makes me want to throw up. In like. A good way. Great way.
So Luffy's speech still happens obviously but like. BEFORE that when Luffy's really messed up and Usopp's holding him and Nami is SOBBING. Usopp has this moment of (and this is the thing I needed to write in here bc the tags weren't enough to capture the energy I wanted it to have):
"The only reason you're pushing us away is to keep us safe, but do you really think we'd be better off without you?! I don't even know what I would've done if you hadn't been there for me when I needed it the most! I probably wouldn't even be here right now! You say i shouldn't run away but you're the one acting like a coward right now! You're running away because you don't want to hurt us but we're all getting hurt because you're letting fear win instead of fighting back the way you always tell me to do! And believe me! I know about fear! You said you'd do what I can't and I'd do what you can't! Was that a lie too?! And don't say it was because I know a liar when I see one and you've always been awful at that! You might try to fool yourself but you could never make us see you this way! You're not letting me carry your burden because you also insist on carrying everyone else's, but that's the most cowardly move of all! And I'm supposed to be the coward out of the two, Sanji! If you really think my heart could replace you then you're dumber than I thought! Maybe you can get married to somebody else but I will not give you up only for a few stupid lies you can't even believe yourself! I don't know who that Vinsmoke Sanji is but he is not the Sanji I love! And you might not believe a word I say right now but I do! I do love you! And don't give a damn if you push us away because we will keep pulling you back with us! I've always been brave for you, so now you need to be brave for me!"
Or something like that, okay? I didn't think this through and it's just a quick thing and it's like 1 am and I gotta go to sleep soon-- But this sounds kind of like something he could say--

Hello! Just finished Die Happy, and oh my gosh what a wholesome and sad time!! I love the way you portray Sanji and his inner monologue with himself.
Would it be possible to get a continuation where reader ends up making it a habit of sleeping with Sanji now that’s she’s had a taste. They kind of make a nightly routine and no one really questions it because they just like seeing everyone happy. How would Sanji feel realizing that it’s been weeks since you first started sleeping with him? What if reader is trying to tell Sanji they actually really like him but he just thinks reader is to perfect for him so he’s kind of blind to her advances.
Thank you so much and I hope you have fun writing!!!
All ye who yearned (@federalclassroom @sparkyrosewood14 @zzbloody-animezz @clonaa @number-0-iz) come get y'all juice:
Maelstrom - Sanji x Reader
Part 2 to "Die Happy"
Tumblr media
Enjoying my work? You can leave me a tip on Ko-Fi
WORDCOUNT: ~ 1.2k
One night turned into two, two turned into a week and a week turned into... well, however long you and Sanji have been sleeping in one bed. He's not keen on keeping track but taking in the moment instead. He doesn't ask why you continue to crawl right back into his bedroom every night. In fact, he doesn't dare make any comment about your new habit out of fear that you might think he's grown tired of it.
Every night he thinks it might be the last, so he forces himself to stay up as long as he can. Although having you sleep soundly against his chest makes his heart rejoice, the new and asinine sleeping schedule he has implemented puts his body into a poor state. Sanji expected someone to say something but he hasn't considered the whole picture and how it looks to the other Straw Hats - he sleeps in one bed with you every night and looks exhausted during the day. It gives... quite a boost to one's imagination. This is why no one so far has made any inquiry about the new sleeping arrangement.
Even if only opportunity made him the person you like to waste your spare time with, Sanji feels as though the universe itself has smiled at him. Some god above him saw his suffering and decided to ease his burden a little. In his mind, this is the most logical explanation.
But that's about to change.
He feels you stir against him. Unknowingly, Sanji freezes, afraid that it's his feathery touches that wake you up from slumber. He holds his fingertips right above your skin, uncertainty hanging in the air.
"You're not sleeping?" you murmur against his chest.
Gently, he sets his hand back on your arm. Your skin is burning his fingers but he welcomes the scorch like frosty cheeks welcome the scarce sunlight in winter months.
"Just thinking about something," he answers with faux disinterest, hoping that you won't inquire further.
To Sanji's horror, you lean away from him and prop your chin up on your head, staring at his face from above. A bright, curious glint shines in your eyes.
"Come on, shoot. What keeps you awake at night?"
Like a deer caught in headlights, he's silently panicking for a moment.
You. All of you. From the way you say "good morning" in a raspy voice to the "goodnight" you separate with a yawn. How I can tell exactly what's on your mind by the expression on your face. The little dances you do when you're having a good day. How adorable your scowl is. The way my chest hurts when I see you frowning.
Sanji gives you a reassuring smile and shakes his head slightly. "Nothing you should worry about, love," he dismissed you. A beautiful liar he is - nothing in his voice indicates the dread that resides inside him.
His heartbeat quickens suddenly when you give him a flash of a smile. In the twilight of a dark night, you look like a faerie, luring a poor, lovesick man to bestow his deepest, darkest secrets upon you.
And Sanji just might.
"Maybe I want to." You shrug your shoulders. With your other hand, you poke his chest playfully. "I'm fine with worrying if it's about you."
Sanji swallows thickly. You're in his bed, snuggled against him and openly admitting you care about him. If he doesn't change the course of the conversation soon, he might act upon his desire, confess feelings he's been unwilling to admit even to himself.
"As much as I appreciate that," he begins nervously, "there's enough in that pretty little head of yours. You just lean on me and I'll do the rest." Sanji forces himself to smile softly at you as he makes a point of leaning through putting his hand on his chest.
You chuckle and bite your lower lip. Sanji's mind tries to slip into his well-known fantasies of kissing you but he manages to keep his thoughts at the present moment.
"Spoken like a true gentleman." Hinging on your forearm, you lean closer to his face. "Maybe it's you I should marry."
He clenches his hand covered by the duvet. Having you so close to him was a daydream until you made it turn into somewhat of a nightmare. Sanji keeps telling himself that whatever happens, he can't let you in on his feelings, fearing that if you learn of his hopeless affliction, you will abandon his intimacy once and for all. And that Sanji doesn't even want to consider as a possibility.
"I thought you wanted to marry a prince," he says in an attempt to divert the conversation.
A scoff leaves your lips and you shake your head in disapproval.
"Fuck princes," you drone out. "I'm not a participation award you can put in your trophy case and show off. I'm more like wild, untamed waters. Like a maelstrom." Your voice hangs for a moment and Sanji holds on to it with more hope than he thought he's capable of. Maybe the universe really did take pity on him. Then, you lean even closer to him, leaving a rather obscene lack of space between your faces. "And you, my lovely Sanji, are a skilled sailor."
His heart stops for a moment.
"Don't do this," he whispers in a weak voice. "Don't give me hope for something I can never have. It's cruel."
"'Can never have?'" you repeat in confusion. "It's your bed I keep crawling back into despite telling myself to stop doing that. You already have me. All of me. I don't care how desperate that makes me look. I want you to have me."
Sanji tries to control his ragged breathing. His iron will is crumbling as he allows himself to look at your lips. Is he dreaming?
"You shouldn't say things you don't mean," he warns you in a distant voice. His mind is too occupied, too busy going haywire, to be rooted in reality. Will you taste as sweet as he imagined? Will you linger on his lips like the reviving kiss of a goddess given to a dying man?
"You shouldn't assume I'm someone who just runs their mouth," you answer.
His lips barely touch yours. There's too much fear in him - fear, that this isn't actually happening. That you're just a dream within a dream, that he imagined this moment to curb his desperation. But then he feels you kissing him back, your lips engulfing his as though you're silently begging him not to go anywhere and stay with you. Sanji can't help himself putting his hand on the nape of your neck and fixing the angle off the kiss to deepen it; to kiss you like princesses deserve to be kissed.
Maybe you are a maelstrom - raging waters twisting into deadly whirlpools. But he's definitely not a sailor. A shipmate would navigate dangerous tides, while Sanji seems to be drowning. The waters of you are filling his lungs and yet he feels like he's breathing for the very first time. He's slowly falling farther away from the light of reason. Soon, darkness engulfs him. But it's not cold. It's not lonely. It's the darkness of a warm, summer night.
And in this darkness, drowned in the untamed waters of a maelstrom, he hears a siren singing in your voice:
The madness of returned devotion.

I thought about Zoro, again. And how he stays calm when all other mugivaras are in disarray. How he has to be the last pilar standing, because if not him than noone. And how some people deam him emotionless and uncaring because of that, because he keeps his cool and talk logic in hard situations. (Like whan they had to leave Vivi behind, or all this mess in inies loby). And I thought how I want someone to see it, and hug him and let him be vulnerable for a bit.
I dunno if I mean it like a prompt, or just want to cry with someone over Zoro. Maybe both. Anyway I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter in any format :')
god yes i knooooow. going insane over him tbh. like i went into this in my previous meta post about him, esp in enis lobby/water seven arc where he is so clearly affected by everything going on but can't show it. (or feels like he cant)
this reminded me of a thing i havent seen many people talk about, which is that zoro is very often 100% spot on with his predictions, gets ignored, and eats shit for it.
like zoro isnt stupid (despite what some characters and parts of the fandom think) hes incredibly perceptive and his cold read on most people will be accurate. theres several moments where he will predice something happening, rationally explains it to the crew how the best course of action is one thing and then luffy being stubborn and the protagonis does what he wants
not to say that thats a bad thing! i think its awesome to show their dynamic
like back on zou when they find out sanji left to marry big moms daughter and everyone wants to go and get him back
Tumblr media
zoro is harsh in his wording bc he always is but the core of the matter is this: if they go mess with big mom, while they are already anatagonizing kaido, they'll end up having to deal with two emperors. he understands that sanji knew that which is why sanji left the way he did (partially).
and we all know how that ended
Tumblr media
not only that i think this fight is a fantastic display of zoro's core character trait. unlike the three captains in this fight, he doesnt have an ego about it. he's not posturing or peacocking, he knows immediately shits gonna go down (killer too probably but with the mask its harder to tell what killer is thinking) and he's the one person that keeps an overview of the battlefield that includes everyone. law eventually does once he gets over his control issues
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and of course thats not the end of it in wano
Tumblr media
"ill suffer twice as much after" and he doesnt care, beats king, nearly dies or maybe does die and nobody knows about that whole thing
then of course in more recent chapters (spoilers for egghead below)
we have his fight against lucci which i find striking in how the other characters perceive it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like jimbei can be excused, he doesnt know zoro all that long but the crew acts like this is a point of pride to zoro, to finish the fight. when we've seen zoro run away from fights plenty of times. and to me what he doesnt get to say is exaclty what ends up happening
if lucci isnt taken out, he will tell the elders about the plans he was privy to in eggheads lab. which of course he does when zoro is dragged away
Tumblr media
if the vegapunk hadn't stepped in
Tumblr media
zoro would have fought the elder and most likely lost
same way he knew he'd not be able to win against kuma
Tumblr media
he's telling everyone to stay out of it because he wants to protect them. its not an ego thing for him. he knows the second he stepped up to that fight hes probably going to lose. he's going to do his best to win but he's not delusional
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and i find it noteworthy that we are continuing this plot line of the crew not understanding zoro or not trusting him and not to mention this
lucci telling zoro he's dead weight
Tumblr media
and a little bit later, sanji telling him the same thing
Tumblr media
like, thats not their usual banter. this doesnt make zoro angry to like be able to fight off lucci better or sth. the panel of him standing there just, flinching honestly haunts me. (i eat it up oda please do somehting with it)
esp curious paired with my above example where i think zoro understands sanji quite well where i dont think sanji does in return. (another reason why i cant see them romantically im sorry itd require so much legwork for me to make that work)
i think it can definitely be read as a setup of zoro feeling apart from the crew. i think part of that is just due to the nature of his position as first mate in everything but name. like in a literal sense he is their superior the same way luffy is all of theirs. and we know from the usopp argument that he takes that a lot more seriously than the others. so i dont think - at this point in canon - zoro would open up to anyone except maybe luffy but even then thats not really the kind of relationship they have - and i dont think any of them actually see whats going on or what zoro has been doing basically the entire time.
zoro hasn't been vulnerable since his fight with mihawk

HELLO SO UM LOVE UR WORK BUT I DO WANT SOME MORE ANGST IN GENERAL SO IWAS WONDERING IF YOU COULD DO A THING WITH THE WHITEBEARD PIRATES AND STRAW HATS WERE A TEEN READER FUCKING dies, uh yeah just like reactions and stuff if you don't feel comfortable with making that type of angst that's completely fine too!!! But urm yer 🦠🗣️
—Whitebeard Pirates & Strawhawts x teen!reader (platonic)
—Summary: It is said that when you are born you set your destiny, but why did it have to be so cruel to you?
—Warnings: blood, dead
Ohhh, It's not like I don't want to write angst, but I feel like I'm not good at itttt 🤚🏻 (sorry for the delay again)
Tumblr media
—Time is something immovable, something that humans cling to without knowing if they are wasting it or taking advantage of it.
—You never thought that you wasted your time with Whitebeard's crew, not a single second was wasted.
—Because when no one was looking, in the middle of a colossal battle, your blood spread like water spilled from a glass, taking your life without mercy, the only thing you saw were happy moments with your crew.
—Your breathing became slow and your vision focused and out of focus, seeing how in the distance almost the entire crew ran to save Ace.
—You were one of the many corpses found in Marineford, maybe even one of the first people to die.
—Your captain always warned you of your recklessness, you were still young, you made mistakes and you let yourself be carried away by the wind of life.
—It's a shame that it passed in a flash, so sudden and unexpected that no one knew you were gone until the waters calmed down.
—You hadn't been the only one, but the living couldn't even see you for the last time.
—Izo preferred it that way, he preferred to have a vision of you in which the sparkle in your eyes remained intact, in which you joked with him.
—He preferred to think that in some way you lived but fled before you could die, but deep inside his being the uncertainty of your death would remain.
—Marco was the one who decided not to tell anything, because when he found your lifeless body it was some time after the events, among all the people, you remained there with empty eyes.
—He had to look away, it had already been painful for him to have to bury his father and friend, now you too.
—You stabbed him in the heart when he saw your inert posture asking for help even though you were rigid, you looked like something he hadn't seen in a long time, a normal scared teenager.
—When he buried you next to Ace and Whitebeard he wondered if he could have done something to save you, or if your destiny was to die alone with no one to ask for help.
—Whatever it was, you wouldn't be so alone up there.
Tumblr media
—The helplessness and anguish of seeing your partner and friend beaten to death is something indescribable, Luffy was burning with rage as he saw the scene with his own eyes.
—It was only seconds, but it was enough for there to be no turning back.
—Zoro, Sanji and Luffy took charge of finishing off the person who had beaten you until you were unrecognizable and useless.
—It didn't matter how much Chopper ran, how much Nami and Usopp cried, not even Robin's last hug could stop all the pain that spread over your body.
—Brook, Jinbe and Franky remained serious, a little more on the sidelines, they couldn't hear how you begged for it to end, for them to end your pain, for them to end you.
—Luffy got angry with you for saying those things, he was the only one who was desperate to make you see reason when your conscience was already abandoning you.
—The others knew it, they knew that there would be no chance to see you laugh, joke or smile again, that their last image of you would be a miserable plea to end your suffering, with your body bruised and covered in blood.
—Zoro had to hold Luffy to calm him down while he looked somewhere else but you, unable to accept the reality of another loss.
—Nami hugged your body until it stopped being warm, holding it despite the stained clothes, she didn't stop crying on your shoulder and caressing your head to calm you down, even knowing that you were already gone.
—The worst thing was seeing your deep expression of pain, your inevitable suffering and desperation to leave was a scar that left a mark on everyone.
—No one spoke for a couple of days after your death, everything felt colder and emptier, after all you were just a teenager trying to have a good time, looking for adventures with friends. Why? Why you of all people?

I can image a flighty sanji would be so heartbreaking for his girl. But someone who’s even more flighty (as well as probably has alot of commitment issues) would probably be shanks himself. Just thinking about his girl walking into the pub after an exhausting victory, just wanting to have a warm drink and snuggle up to her man, only to seeing him very obviously flirting up the bar maid. I’m talking touching her hair, complementing her, hell maybe even kissing her outright. He’s always been like this, and even though she’s been warned many times by the crew about his flighty behavior before getting in this relationship with him, she thought maybe he would change for her, especially because she’s been in the crew since it’s near inception. Maybe it was always a pipe dream, but I can imagine the look on shanks’ face when the crew wakes up in a hung over stupor, and their captains girl is gone. With nothing but a short note to shanks telling him how’s he’s free to do what he likes, but she won’t be around to hurt over it anymore. (Maybe she joins laws team, I can imagine he’s more loving). I’d love to see your take on this!!
This is so detailed! Tysm i had so much fun writing this!

The hum of the pub was loud and lively as Y/N trudged in, her body aching from a long and brutal fight. Her arms hung heavy at her sides, muscles strained from hours of combat. Victory was theirs, but it had come at a cost—her energy, her patience, and most of all, her need for reassurance.
She didn’t ask for much, not really. A warm drink, a quiet corner, and most importantly, the man who held her heart. The man who had stolen her breath away with his charisma and his smile. The man who had promised, in his own reckless way, to keep her safe from the heartbreak she always feared.
Shanks.
Her eyes scanned the dimly lit pub, illuminated only by flickering lanterns and the warm golden glow of firelight. She spotted him immediately. Shanks, with his iconic red hair, was unmistakable even in a crowded room. But the sight that greeted her stopped Y/N in her tracks.
Shanks sat at the bar, his boisterous laugh ringing out over the noise, his arm casually draped over the shoulder of the barmaid. The woman giggled, her cheeks flushed as Shanks played with a strand of her hair. His fingers twirled the golden locks as he murmured something into her ear, his signature lopsided grin making the barmaid blush even harder.
Y/N’s chest tightened. Her heart felt like it had been yanked out and stomped on right there. This wasn’t the first time she’d seen him like this—flirting, charming, letting his flighty nature get the best of him. She knew who Shanks was when she’d agreed to be his girl. She’d heard the warnings from his crew, had seen firsthand the way women fawned over him wherever they docked.
But she had believed him. Believed him when he’d said she was special. That he’d change, for her.
The laughter of the barmaid cut through Y/N’s haze of heartbreak, pulling her back to the moment. Shanks leaned closer, brushing the barmaid’s hair behind her ear, his lips dangerously close to hers. Y/N’s fists clenched at her sides, her nails digging into her palms. She wanted to scream, to cry, to march over and demand to know why she wasn’t enough for him.
But she didn’t.
Instead, she turned on her heel and left the pub, her footsteps silent against the cobblestone streets. She didn’t even stop by the ship. She couldn’t bear to see the crew, not like this. They’d look at her with pity, maybe try to comfort her, but she didn’t want that. She didn’t want to be the girl who stayed and suffered in silence.
By the time the first rays of sunlight crept over the horizon, Y/N was long gone.
Shanks woke up the next morning with a pounding headache and the telltale grogginess of a night spent drinking too much. He groaned, rubbing his temples as he sat up, the room spinning slightly. Around him, the crew was in various states of disarray, most of them sprawled out on the floor or slumped over tables.
“Where’s Y/N?” he mumbled, his voice raspy.
No one answered.
“Anyone seen Y/N?” he asked louder this time, standing up and stretching.
The crew exchanged uneasy glances. Benn Beckman, always the most perceptive, frowned as he looked around.
“She wasn’t here when we got back,” Benn said.
Shanks’s brow furrowed. That wasn’t like her. Even when she was upset, she’d usually stay nearby, maybe sulking or giving him the cold shoulder. But this... this was different.
Something on the table caught his eye—a folded piece of parchment, his name scrawled across the front in Y/N’s familiar handwriting. His heart sank as he picked it up, his fingers trembling slightly.
He unfolded the note and read the short, curt message.
Shanks, You’re free now. Free to flirt, to drink, to kiss whoever you want. I won’t stand in your way anymore. I loved you, more than I should have. But I can’t keep breaking my own heart over and over. I’m leaving, for good. Don’t come after me. Y/N
The paper slipped from his fingers, fluttering to the floor.
“Damn it,” Shanks muttered under his breath, running a hand through his hair.
“What is it?” Benn asked, his voice calm but tinged with concern.
“She’s gone,” Shanks said, his voice hollow. “She’s... she left me.”
The weight of his own actions hit him like a tidal wave. He remembered the barmaid, remembered the way he’d flirted and laughed without a care in the world. It had been harmless fun, or so he thought. But now, with Y/N’s note staring up at him from the floor, he realized how wrong he’d been.
Y/N stood at the railing of the Polar Tang, the wind whipping through her hair as she watched the waves crash against the submarine’s hull. She had spent the last few days adjusting to her new life among Law’s crew.
The Heart Pirates were different from Shanks’s rowdy crew. Law was reserved, meticulous, and fiercely protective of his crew. He didn’t flirt or play games. He treated Y/N with a quiet respect that felt foreign but comforting.
“You don’t have to talk about it,” Law said one evening as they shared a quiet meal in the mess hall.
Y/N looked up at him, surprised.
“About what?”
“Whatever brought you here,” he said, his golden eyes meeting hers. “I can tell it wasn’t easy for you to leave.”
She hesitated, her fingers tracing the rim of her cup.
“I thought he could change,” she admitted softly. “For me. For us. But I was wrong.”
Law didn’t press her for details. He simply nodded, his gaze steady and reassuring.
For the first time in a long time, Y/N felt like she could breathe. She wasn’t just a girl chasing after an impossible dream anymore. She was her own person, strong and capable, carving out a new path for herself.
And as much as it hurt to leave Shanks, she knew she had made the right choice.
Back on the Red-Haired Pirates’ ship, Shanks stared out at the open sea, his heart heavy with regret. He had always been a man who valued his freedom, who lived for the thrill of adventure and the joy of the moment. But now, as he stood alone on the deck, he realized that he had taken Y/N’s love for granted.
She had given him everything, and he had thrown it away.
“Do you think she’ll ever come back?” he asked Benn one evening.
Benn shook his head, his expression unreadable.
“Not unless you give her a reason to,” he said. “And even then, it might be too late.”
Shanks nodded, his chest tightening. He didn’t deserve her, not after everything he’d done. But that didn’t stop him from hoping, from wishing that one day, he might have the chance to make things right.
For now, though, all he could do was live with the emptiness she had left behind.

It's perfect
Tumblr media
pairing: Sanji х f!reader
warnings: 18+ smut, slowburn???, p in v, oral (m for f), dirty talk
word count: 4.1k
English is not my first language, sorry about mistakes
Tumblr media
- Perfect. - You smile when you feel the familiar taste, violet and burnt sugar. - Sanji, you are a god!
The cook is embarrassed by your praise and smiles back. Today he gave you a tasting of what he prepared based on your childhood story.
Once upon a time, when you had not yet left your island, you ate your mother’s violet cake almost every day. This is the taste of childhood and you have never been able to find something similar.
But Sanji... Oh, Sanji. He listened to you, all the memories that remained after you watched your mother in the kitchen and created an ideal.
- I tried, honey. - Sanji watches you pick up the sugar flower with a fork and put it in your mouth, the cook swallows nervously, seeing how your beautiful lips close on the delicacy.
Yes, he loved to cook. He loves obstacles and immediately decided that he had to try to make this cake. But there was a much greater meaning in you, only for your sake Sanji suffered in the kitchen for eight attempts.
- Your mother is obviously a great cook, this turned out to be a little difficult.
You are silent, continuing to eat a piece of cake. You need to have time to eat your portion before Luffy flies into the kitchen, demolishing everything in his path and eating everything that gets into his mouth.
- It's perfect. - You put down your fork and collect the remaining cream from the plate. - Do you want?
You extend your finger and Sanji, without hesitation for a second, wraps his lips around your finger, lightly biting the pad of your finger, and licks off the remaining sweetness.
- Really... Perfect. - You look into each other’s eyes and you are ready to cross the line and fall into the arms of this wonderful, kind and caring man.
- DINNER! - The captain bursts into the kitchen and almost demolishes the bench you were sitting on.
- Luffy, calm down a little. - Sanji gives his friend a stern look. - There are ladies here.
- Sorry, ladies. I'm just really hungry. - The captain down next to you, with Nami supporting you on the other side.
- I have to go, I want to work a little more. - Sanji watches you go and only then begins to fill the plates with food.
- What's wrong with her? Did I offend her? - Luffy is clearly puzzled.
- Shut up and eat. - Nami hands him a spoon. - They will figure it out themselves.
Tumblr media
You carefully put the constellation on paper and again lean towards the telescope; today the sky is surprisingly clear and you decided to take advantage of this opportunity.
- Why you are awake?
- The sky is just a fairy tale, I can sleep tomorrow. - You turn around and feel your heart skip a beat at the sight of Sanji holding a tray of tea and cake.
- I decided to support your strength. - He puts the tray on the table. - I saved another portion for you.
- Thank you. - You accept the cup from the cook’s hands and are touched by him.
At first, you considered Sanji to be an ordinary ladies' man who just flirted with everyone, but over time his attention became more and more focused on you and you were able to discern a much deeper personality in him.
- Beautiful, right? - The stars shine brightly and beckon.
- Yes very. - You return Sanji’s gaze, he is looking at you. He talk about the sky, right?
- I... You're embarrassing me.
- I like to embarrass you, honey. - He smiles again like a seducer, but his eyes... So honest and sad, they cannot lie to you. They couldn't even if they wanted to.
- Sanji... Do you want... - You are silent for just a second. - Do you want a piece?
You hand him the cake on a fork and the cook takes it with pleasure. So you feed him, trying to find the right words, not wanting to destroy what has already been born between you.
- What do you mean you like to embarrass me?
- You are very cutely embarrassed, your ears turn red and give you away.
- They give what?
- That you like me. - The silence becomes deafening. Sanji is still smiling, but your frightened and naive heart sees a mockery in this smile.
You twirl the fork in your hands, unable to find anything to say. Sanji's smile fades and he hesitates, realizing that he did something wrong.
- Sorry. - The cook gets up, but you take his hand.
- N-no, wait... You're right, I like you. Very much. - Sanji wanted to say something, but you put your finger to his lips. - You are so talented and skillful. So... Handsome and funny, you always know what needs to be said, few people know how to help correctly. You...
Sanji takes your hand away and the next moment his lips are on yours and you almost fall from his pressure.
You press your hips against the bulwark and wrap your arms around the man’s neck, kissing him back. Sanji squeezes your cheeks, deepens the kiss and you feel his knee between your legs.
- Let me, honey. - He picks you up and sits you on the side. - You are so sweet.
You kiss the words and you feel dizzy from everything that is happening. The cool night air is cold on bare skin, but Sanji's body is so warm, even hot.
- It's like you're on fire. - You touch Sanji's forehead. - Everything is fine?
- It couldn’t be better, my sweet. - The blonde leans lower and touches your neck with his lips, causing a herd of goosebumps. - I like you too, more than you can imagine. I'm burning just thinking about you.
You throw your head back and watch the sky, where the stars shine so brightly. Sanji's hands lightly massage your shoulders and you involuntarily groan, your back is suffering a lot due to constant work with maps and a telescope.
- Do you want me to fuck you? - You want to laugh, it seems to you that Sanji is only teasing you, but the laughter gets stuck in your throat at the sight of the man.
He looks at you very seriously, waiting for an answer. He wants to hear it from you so that you can weigh everything. That look says he will stop if you want him to.
- Yes, I want you to take me. - There was no need to repeat, Sanji kneels down and lifts your dress, you sit in front of him on the side of the deck with the hem raised and legs apart, the sea wind caresses your legs.
- Everything must be perfect... For you. - The blonde touches you through your underwear, with one finger, just playing. The chef's lips kiss on each knee and hurry higher, along the inner thigh.
Sanji's fingers are squeezing your hips, marks will clearly be left on the flesh, but no one will see them except your cute cook.
A wet kiss remains close to the most intimate and you squeeze the wood of the bulwark tighter, hoping not to fall into the water.
- Sanji...
- I have to take care of you, honey, because we want it to be pleasant for both of us, right?
You grip the man's blond hair, and close you're eyes. Sanji returns to what he was doing and moves the fabric of his underwear slightly, exposing you to him.
- You shine with moisture, sweetie. - Sanji licks his lips and presses his mouth to you, collecting moisture with his tongue.
You shudder from the sudden and intense caress, arching your back, exposing yourself to Sanji’s skillful and soft hands.
His warm tongue touches the clitoris and circles it, changing the degree of pressure from time to time. The cook's fingers spread your labia, he strokes your slit with his finger and hums with satisfaction.
- Please, Sanji. - He penetrates you with his finger and you moan, you haven’t been with anyone for a long time and it takes time to get used to the invasion.
- God, you're so tight, baby. You've never been fucked properly, have you? - You whine at the depravity of his words and move your hips closer, causing Sanji to laugh hoarsely. - I'll take care of you.
He returns his mouth to where he needs it most, and his finger begins to move inside, pleasure and embarrassment overflowing from the wet sounds you make.
The pleasure grows, you almost don’t notice when a second finger is placed inside, followed by a third. Sanji keeps the rhythm so persistently that your toes curl in pleasure.
A particularly strong wave hits the side of the ship and at the same moment a wave of pleasure covers you, Sanji doesn’t stop, burying his face between your thighs, which only prolongs the orgasm.
Sanji's arms save you from falling; he hugs you tightly, lovingly pressing you to his chest. You bury your face in his neck and inhale the aroma of cigarettes, spices and something sweet.
- My hero. - You smile at this salvation. - You're even better than I thought. You are ideal.
- Don't waste your words, sweetie. We're not done yet.
Tumblr media
Sanji helps you down from the railing and turns you around, his strong chest brushing against your back. You look at the waves, feeling the laundry leave your body.
Sanji pulls off his panties and puts them in his pants pocket. The skirt of your dress is in his hands again, he grips the soft fabric and lifts it up, exposing your ass.
- Right here?
- Everyone is sleeping, don't worry. - Sanji kisses the back of your head, you feel him inhaling the scent from your hair and skin.
I don’t want to argue, it already hurts inside, because you’re clenching around the emptiness and desperately wanting to be filled.
The sound of lightning is heard, you feel Sanji's hips with your hips, he presses against you, his hot and hard cock rubs against you, but you cannot touch it, because the blonde pressed your hands to the side, not allowing you to act freely.
You move your hips, grinding against him like a little slut, but right now you're not the least bit ashamed.
- Patience, honey. - Sanji moves away for a second and you feel his wet head, which rests against you, and then penetrates inside, stretching and filling until your muscles throb.
- Sanji... - That's all that comes out of your lips. Never before have you felt so full, so horny and needy.
- Give me a sec. - The man rests his forehead between your shoulder blades. - You’re so hot and tight, I’m afraid I won’t last long.
You rise up onto your toes, and, having decided something for yourself, you lift one leg and lower it onto the side, changing the angle and taking Sanji even deeper.
- Baby, damn. - The grip on your hips intensifies, you just smile.
With one hand you gather your dress at your waist, giving Sanji easier access to your ass, and with the other you caress your breasts through the thin fabric.
Sanji squeezes your buttocks and suddenly hits the hot skin, causing you to whine pitifully. The way he took you right on the deck, stretched out and opened like the last whore, could not help but excite you, you flowed onto his hard penis.
- Yes, that's it, baby, wet my dick properly. - The wet slaps of your bodies and your quiet moans broke the silence of this warm night.
Beads of sweat are running down your back, your hair is stuck to your temples and neck, you are tense to the limit, a little more and you will be thrown over the edge of pleasure.
Sanji’s hand squeezes your throat, easily runs along your collarbone, outlines your chest and moves lower, deftly moving between the folds of the fabric of your dress.
- Come on, honey, I can feel you... - He pinches your clit between two fingers, the friction and your wetness do their job, you feel a familiar spasm and don’t even try to stop yourself as you arch, exposing your wet pussy closer to Sanji.
Your hands squeeze the wood of the ship until it hurts, but it helps you stay in place, because Sanji is not going to stop and continues to pound you even during your orgasm.
- Crap! - You squeeze it especially hard and the cook can’t hold on any longer; he cums with a hoarse and drawn-out groan.
You seem to suck him in, trying not to spill a drop of his seed, you stay in this position for a while. The heavy breathing calms as Sanji wraps both of his arms around you and pulls you close.
- Perfect. - Your head falls on the blond’s shoulder and you feel a smile in his kiss, which he leaves on your neck.

Zoro trying to wingman sanuso into dating because their longing for each other is disruptive to his daily routine, only he is completely shit at it because his idea of romance is the unhinged bullshit he has with Luffy. Nami figures out what Zoro is trying to do after 2 months and manages to get Sanji and Usopp together under a week and then Zoro continues suffering because them dating is just as bad as Sanji sighing wistfully after Usopp every hour of the day and Usopp getting distracted by Sanji's legs during bathtime and slipping and almost cracking his head open. Now they just run around calling each other petnames and Sanji handfeeding Usopp food and sitting in his lap and it's making him cringe
This is perfect. Absolutely amazing. Anon, I'd love to kiss your brain.
Zoro is so done with them. He's always been really close to Usopp, so now that he has a crush on Sanji, he's the one dealing with it. It's fucking awful. Because Usopp keeps saying (lying) that he doesn't like Sanji. Then, Zoro goes to Sanji and asks if he likes Usopp and he lies too, because why the hell would he confess his feelings to fucking mosshead of all people? And Zoro has to deal with Usopp being head over heels for the cook every damn day (like, literally, looking for excuses to talk to Sanji. Spending the time in the kitchen with him. Always talking about him when Zoro is around. Flirting with him in the most obvious of ways. Fucking up in battle because he's focused on Sanji. Etc). But the pining isn't the only issue, because there's more. Sanji keeps flirting with women and Usopp is always devastated when that happens or unreasonably angry at everything, frustrated. And Zoro is the one who has to deal with it because for some fucking reason the sniper decided one day that they were best friends and Zoro accepted because he's stupid (and he's regretting all the decisions he made two years ago). Sanji is also fucking annoying because he keeps swooning over Usopp like a dog in heat and he's oh, so in love that it physically hurts to watch. Like, quite literally hurts because he keeps holding himself back from treating Usopp the way he treats his crushes and the frustration always goes to Zoro and they always end up fighting again and again and again. And don't get him wrong, Zoro likes to fight with Sanji. That's their whole thing. But he needs his own personal time too.
So Zoro's like "Fuck it. If these two are not gonna get together on their own, I'll do it myself". But, as you said, his whole concept of romance is really fucked up because his love for Luffy is completely different and the way he shows affection is way more complicated than what Sanuso does. Zoro has the brilliant idea to put both of them in danger so the other will save him, for some reason. It never ends up well and he's the one saving them in the end or he ends up fighting Sanji once again. It's getting even more annoying now. So you can erase "saving each other" from the list, because Zoro does not know how to make plans and it always ends up horribly wrong or with them saving themselves. Then he tries "possessiveness", but ends up erasing that too because unlike him (who's always all over Luffy) both Sanji and Usopp end up having depressive episodes every damn time Zoro says the other likes somebody else or puts that idea in their heads. Fucking idiots with low self-esteem. And so Zoro's like "maybe I can just go and put them in a dark room together" but Sanji apparently is fucking frightened of the dark and Usopp doesn't know how to get out so it's pretty much both of them having panic attacks until Zoro helps them out. And, idk, maybe he even tries to put messages in Usopp's food so he thinks Sanji's the one who wrote them! But he always ends up mistaking the dishes and he doesn't even know how to write stuff with food so it either ends up looking horrible or in the hands of somebody who isn't Usopp. Etc, etc, etc. He's so fucking done-
Nami notices because, unlike him, she isn't stupid. And she gets them together extremely quickly. And it's as easy as:
Nami: Hi, Sanji-san, are you busy tonight? Sanji: Of course not, my dearest! For you, I'm always free! Nami: Awesome! And you, Usopp? Usopp: Huh? Yeah. Well. I think so? Why? Nami: Great! Well, I am busy. And I had this reservation at this really expensive restaurant on this island? It would be such a waste of food, right Sanji-san? Sanji: Of course, my angel! I would never! Nami: Why don't you two go together? Usopp: Wait- What? Nami- Nami, hey- We talked about this don't- Sanji: You don't wanna go with me? :( <- Saddest wet cat face ever Usopp: Of course I do! Who said I didn't?! Nami: Perfect! It's a date, then! Usopp: A WHAT? Sanji: Nami-
And she just- She just fucking leaves without a word.
It turns out surprisingly well... For Sanji and Usopp, of course. Things just get worse for Zoro.
Because it's not only the fact that Nami won't stop reminding him that she was the one who got them together and he wasn't even able to do it. But on top of it all, Sanji and Usopp become the clingiest, sappiest, most annoying couple in the whole world.
He now has to deal with Sanji feeding Usopp and sitting really close at lunchtime. Usopp being extra dramatic and loud when telling stories to impress Sanji and dancing around with him. Sanji cooking all of Usopp's favorite meals at least once a week. Them always making out during bathtime and being extremely touchy. Usopp leaving notes around for Sanji that Zoro always finds first. Sanji fucking yelling all the time to call for Usopp. Them kissing mid-battle or being extremely distracted by each other. Even when they're sitting together as a group, they're sitting on top of each other.
It's disgusting. Not because Zoro hates love or he's cynical or whatever, because he's obsessed with romance. He just hates the fact that they're so loud about it because his perception of love is just so personal and intimate when it comes to Luffy and- And he likes Usopp. He really loves him a lot (platonically). And Zoro doesn't want him to get hurt. The thought is stupid because, despite their rivalry, he trusts Sanji with his life. But it's just weird.
Then I think one day Usopp is having a rough moment. Or perhaps he's the only one who hasn't woken up yet. The point is that he's on one of the bunk beds sleeping and Zoro thinks it's time to check on him. But then he goes into the room, silently enough for neither of them to notice, and stays for a moment on the door staring at the whole situation. Sanji's kneeling on the side of the bed, caressing Usopp's hair and kissing his face and just whispering things Zoro can't hear but knows he isn't meant to hear anyway. And so he walks away and thinks, well, maybe he's been wrong all along and they do have that sort of intimacy. Just in a different way.
And then Luffy comes to him fucking yelling his name and embracing him completely in the middle of the deck (where everybody is) kissing him all over his face and screaming about how excited he is to spend their day together on the next island.
Zoro just has to laugh. Maybe he doesn't have any right to complain about PDA after all.

what he deserves, chapter 5
Sanji x Reader, a bit of Law x Reader
Warnings: angst, one-night stand, not really a love triangle – law and reader are mature about the situation. Some implied smut. WANO SPOILERS. Trauma from child abuse.
a/n: this is the end! possible alt. ending if people want it.
Summary: Witnessing all the suffering Sanji went through on Whole Cake Island, all you want is for him to be truly happy…even if it means not with you. Set after the fight in Wano, you go through the motions of an endless fight and end up in bed with the Hearts Pirates’ Captain to distract yourself from the one thing you want the most – Sanji.
masterlist
Tumblr media
“Do you really think Law and I make a nice couple!”
Shocked – Sanji just stared blankly at you, fish still in hand. He didn’t even know what to think or say, so he just smiled. He smiled so brilliantly; you knew if he answered yes, it would crush you into a million jagged pieces. Little jagged pieces that had no chance of ever being put back together – it would be better off to just throw them into a forgotten drawer, where you only ever look for lost things. The kitchen door bumped into your back as it closed and Sanji placed the fish into the freezer, closed it and covered up the barrel of fish. He walked over to the sink and washed off his hands, finally using a kitchen cloth to dry them; he turned to you, hand on the kitchen island.
“I think the two of you make sense – he’s definitely the serious type but I could see you two going for the long haul.”
Fuck you, that’s what you wanted to say but foul language directed at Sanji tasted wrong. Instead, holding your composure, you moved to the opposite side of the island and stared at him. He stared back but quickly withdrew and apologized. “For what?”
“The other night,” he said. “I was insensitive when you were pouring your heart out to me. You have to know I – I didn’t mean anything by it.”
By what? Even if what he had said about Pudding was true, why did he have to say it out loud? Why couldn’t he have kept it to himself? Because in your mind, he was going to marry her, and he did spend time with her – you knew about the cake they made together. How easily it would have been for Pudding to put aside her wicked ways and fall for Sanji. How could see not see the kindness in his eyes and smile? How could she not have fallen in love with him as you have? She’d be a damn fool.
You were a damn fool.
“You remind me of my father, Sanji.”
The statement earned a shameful expression from the cook because he knew how your father was from the stories you’ve recounted to him. During the late-night sessions sitting in the aquarium room; dim lights above the glass filling the room as you exchange horror stories. Sometimes, most times, the two of you would fall asleep on the divan that was up against the glass. Then in the morning, Sanji would make coffee and you would keep him company as he made breakfast for the crew. He had cherished those talks but now it felt like it was all slipping away. He wanted to light a smoke, but it seemed like the wrong move, even if it would have calmed his nerves.
“The two of you share the same charming swagger, romantic notions easily roll of your tongue.” You glanced down at your hands, turning them over to study your palms – permanent faded scars imprinted onto them. Evidence from the lashes your father would give when you took too much of a breath. Staring back at Sanji, you heaved a sigh. “He swore up and down that he loved my mother, I have these tads of memories of that being true. Seeing him shower her with flowers and poems, he was an amazing singer. He’d sing her these longing ballads, dance with her in the middle of the kitchen…but the façade slowly fell…”
Sanji couldn’t move; now at his side, hands clasped against his slacks. He stared at you, heart aching for the child you once were – eyes darting to your hands. He had noticed the scars before and when he had asked, you had changed the subject. Now he realized that your bastard of a father had done that to you; a fire burned through Sanji’s body and if he hadn’t already been dead, he would have hunted him down. Killed him. Torture him with a slow death - a deserving death but he knew, deep down, you would have never allowed it. You were too kind. “You’re a lot like my father, Sanji. All the good parts. So charming and sweet, doting, and silly…”
Your hand moved alongside the kitchen island as you moved around it, stepping right in front of Sanji. He towered over you a little, eyes on you, waiting, heart pounding. He wasn’t sure what to say or if he should say anything at all, but you were so close and all he wanted to do was hold you in his arms. Hold you safe until the world ended and only then would he relax knowing the two of you would go to death together. That’s all he wanted, he knew that now, but fear gripped him still.
“The difference between you and him is that he indulged in the darkness inside him. He allowed himself to become mean, but you don’t have that in you, Sanji. There is not an ounce of darkness inside that heart of yours. Why do I know this? Because we are one of the same – we fear the same things.”
Stunned, he wasn’t sure you really understood the fear that beheld him; nights when he was alone, sleeping in bed, all he could ever think about was turning into a monster. Like his father and brothers. Then after using the raid suit that seemed to awaken…everything his father was hoping for when he was a child. That had scared him so badly he made Zoro promise to kill him if his humanity slipped away. He had to ask the swordsman because he was the only one that would do it – even with all the bickering, there was mutual respect. He knew Zoro would follow through with his code of honor, even if it meant never seeing you again – anything to keep himself for being a monster…of hurting….
“To love someone so much you hurt them, that is my fear. I don’t want to become a monster like my father – loved my mother so much he could only damage her. Tell me, Sanji, what is your fear?”
Your fingers shook against the counter, eyes fighting back tears. Emotions weaken your every breath, but you need to hear it out loud. Needed to hear him say it out loud. Tears formed in the man’s eyes, and he let out a deep breath, gathering up the courage but why did it feel so hard? Why were the words lingering in the back of his throat? Why was this harder to say to you? He felt dizzy and God, he needed a smoke but instead he thought of the small child he once was. The pain his family inflicted onto him and how he survived it all because of the two women in his life – his mother and sister. The kindness in their hearts kept him going and allowed him to escape that horrible place. His sister, Reiju, told him he’d find kind people in the world and how right she was – because he did find his kind people, he did find his family.
“I don’t want to become a monster like them.”
A tear fell from his eye, and you reached for his hand, telling him to look at you. He did, eyes shaking as you held his hand tenderly. “The greatest thing that ever came from that family is you – don’t you see that? How can such a lightness like you become a monster? Can’t you understand that? I need you to understand that, please.”
He started to cry, and you moved to him, closing in on the miles of space that seemed to have formed between you for some time now. Without hesitation, he moved down into your arms; falling onto his knees, he buried his head into your stomach. Holding back tears of your own, your fingers ran through his hair as his arms draped around your waist. Soothing his sorrows with each stroke of your fingers, you whispered his name. His head moved back to look up at you, eyes soft, sad. Touching his face, with bated breath, you told him he could never be a monster. “…and if by the grips of hell, you do. I’ll become a monster too and we can go into the darkness together.”
I love you, that’s what you were saying. He knew it in his heart, as he stared up at your melancholic face; you were sad for him, sad for yourself but that was the world, wasn’t it? Oh, God, what a fool he had been! All this time, you were right there in front of him but…that was why he had gone with his family, agreed to the marriage. Keeping his family safe from the family that rejected and neglected him; he wanted to keep Luffy, the others, you, safe. The thought of anything happening to any of you, that had been true fear, but he was an idiot. He should have had faith in Luffy, faith in you from the beginning. It was clear now, the depths you would have gone for him because there was no corner of the world he would not have gone to, to save his family. To save you.
Closing his eyes, he let out a deep breath and stood up; knees heavy, feet firming on the ground and before he could give into nerves – he took your face into his hands and kissed you. It felt like the air shifted; everything that made no sense, suddenly made complete sense. Arms slipped around his shoulders, fingers gliding up his neck into his hair; the small action sent things in motion. Before you could understand, Sanji had you leaned up against the counter, hands down at your waist. His lips captured yours and no amount of strength could pry them away. He groaned into your mouth, and you tugged at the buttons of his slacks – that’s when he paused. Breathless, for the second time of the day, he examined the expression in your eyes, and he asked if you were sure. “This isn’t exactly where I would have wanted…”
“This is perfect,” you murmured, nodding ferociously as he leaned in for a kiss. He laughed, forehead against yours, hands idly at the hem of your blouse. What if someone comes in, he asked, and you grabbed him by the chin. “Let them watch, I don’t care, Sanji. I’ve wanted this for so long, I’ve wanted...you.”
Tears started to well in your eyes and he lightheartedly chuckled, wiping the would be tears from the corner of your eyes. “No more crying today, let me show you how much I love you.”
The last three words left his mouth effortlessly and an aching erupted between the two of you. Mere seconds was all it took for Sanji to push aside everything that was on the kitchen island; his usual tidiness nonexistent as he helped you onto the counter. His limber fingers undoing the green kimono Nami had brought you. The silk felt cool against his skin and when he pulled off the garment, his eyes took in the sight before him – you were on your back, wanting him in all the ways one could want someone. He climbed onto the counter, using his right knee to separate your legs further. He was nervous but it was an exciting nervousness as he drifted down to you. He pulled himself out and you touched his shoulder, looking up at him with such strength, he could feel the fire inside you. It was all for him, and he knew right there, above the flesh of your love – he would live every day knowing he deserved you.
He deserved this, god damnit, he did.  And when he finally pushed into you and you withered under him, he knew it would be all fine. If somehow, he did become a monster – he knew you’d be right alongside him, monsters together; and if that wasn’t love, then what was?
…..
The bonfire was warm; the sound of Brook’s violin playing joyful music filled the air. Franky and Usopp were lighting fireworks and you watched as they cheered each other on, clapping and hooraying. Smiling, you leaned back into Sanji’s chest, his arms wrapped around your waist. His fingers were clasped together at your stomach and your hand was on his; his chin resting on your shoulder. Zoro was drinking alongside Jinbei, both lounging on chairs near the fire. Luffy had Otama on his shoulders as she pointed out all the different colors of the fireworks, Nami right by their side. Robin was sitting next to where Sanji and you stood, handing Chopper pieces of candy every so often – the pair enjoying the light show as the others.
“This feels nice.”
Turning your head to look at Sanji, you agreed, kissing him softly on the cheek. “I can’t believe we leave tomorrow…”
“Yeah, and I have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg. We’re going to have a hell of ride from here on out.”
He was right; there was so much more left to be explored. So many more people to fight, people to help along with every one’s personal goals – all this leading to Luffy being the King of the Pirates. It wasn’t an if, it was a when and you were ready for the journey, for the fighting and most importantly, for moments like this. Surrounded by the people you loved the most – a family brought together by one young pirate. Sighing, you asked Sanji if he had everything he needed for the next adventure. He knew you meant supplies wise, but he held you tighter, and said all he needed was right in his arms.
“Smooth,” you whispered, and he laughed, moving off your back. He stretched and nodded to someone past the bonfire – a familiar face. It was Law, standing next to Luffy. After the kitchen affair, Sanji and you laid on the counter, tangled and sweaty. He was perched up on his elbow, other hand on your stomach, cigarette finally in his mouth. He made invisible circles onto your skin when he quietly asked about Law and you. “I don’t need details but…”
“There’s nothing to worry about,” you had assured him. “It really was just something that happened, and we both knew it was a one-time thing. It really was just two people lonely for the night.”
He seemed relieved with the answer, but you did mention the vivre card, and after a long moment, Sanji smiled softly. “He’s a powerful friend to have.”
“I’m going to make the second portion of the dinner, go talk to him.” Sanji kissed your forehead, and you held him by the elbow, stopping him from moving away from you. He gave you a perplexed smile but when you said I loved you to him; he beamed. Pulling you to him, he kissed you not once but twice. Laughing against your mouth when you pinched his butt. “You’ll be the death of me, sweetheart. I better go make food before Luffy decides he’s hungry again.”
You parted ways and watched as Sanji left to the cooking station; and when you moved passed Robin and Chopper, you gave each a light pat on the head. Walking over to Luffy, you said hello to Law, and he smiled at you. “I see you two worked things out.”
Nodding, you thanked him. “For being such a good friend to me, I appreciate it.”
Eyeing Luffy, Law nodded for you to follow him; the two of you moved to the side, out of hearing range. He stood at a respectable distance and said he was leaving tonight. “We have some things we need to get to. I heard you guys are leaving tomorrow, Luffy just told me.”
“My captain, loose lips.”
“I’m sure we’ll see each other soon; you Straw Hats have a way of crashing people’s plans…”
Grinning, you smiled proudly. “You mean we have a way of always saving people’s ass’s – that’s what you meant, right?”
Law drew a scowl and you laughed, patting him lightly on the shoulder. You told him to never change, and he finally smiled, telling you the same. Moving to give me a hug, the pirate stepped back, and you laughed, promising no harm would come to him. “Sanji’s not going to kick your ass, you don’t have to be afraid.”
The man grumbled under his breath but returned the gesture; the two of you embraced and you were grateful for him. For being there on a lonely night, for being thoughtful and mature; for being a friend. Giving him a tight squeeze, you smiled up at him and he reminded you of his vivre card. “If you guys ever need help…”
“Even if you don’t want to show it, you’re a kind person, Law.”
Parting ways, you watched as he walked back to his crew; laughing when Bepo attacked him with a hug. Oh, he was definitely a softie for his crew. Feeling a wave of lightness in the air, you turned to your own crew and strode to Nami when she waved you over. She eyed your outfit and gave a thumbs up, pulling you to her side she asked if Law and you bid your goodbyes. “Yeah, we did.”
“Good – I don’t want him sniffing around you now that Sanji and you are together.”
You let out a laugh, hugging her tightly. “You’re such a good friend, Nami.”
The two of you held each other, enjoying the fireworks for a while until you felt a familiar hand on your shoulder. With a cigarette perched between his lips, Sanji asked Nami if he could have some time with you and the navigator smirked. “Just because she’s your girlfriend now doesn’t mean you can hog her time! And while we’re at it, no more…. you know, where we eat!”
Sanji and you flushed with shame, eyeing each other – as if to accuse the other of blabbing. Catching on, Nami rolled her eyes and commented that she heard noises coming from the kitchen. Sanji buried his face in your back, holding you tight against his body. Equally embarrassed, you apologized to Nami.
“Just don’t let it happen again, you’re lucky Robin was standing guard after I heard the noise.” She looked over to you and sneered. “You’re like really loud, by the way. I think we should ask Franky if there’s a way to add another bedroom – none of us should have to deal with that.”
“Please go away,” you begged her, and she howled, walking away with a shake of her head. Mortified, you told Sanji he could never touch you again and he laughed, tugging you firmly against his chest.
“Not a chance.”
Turning around to face him, you slipped both arms around his neck just as the last of the fireworks were set off. Sparks flew up above the sky, the sound of young Otama’s cheers rang in your eyes and when Sanji’s eyes set upon you – fireworks ignited in your heart. His eyes grew soft as his head leaned toward yours and when his lips touched yours; you knew it was all worth it. The suffering the two of you endured, from childhood to now, it all seemed worth it now that you had each other. Sanji’s heart finally felt at ease with you in his arms, he truly was where he belonged. Luffy shouted for everyone to gather, a toast with the best crew ever! Sanji and you kissed once more, hands on each other’s face; his thumb rubbed against your cheek. Brushing strands of hair from his face, your eyes took in the sight before you. A man who was confident, who knew he was deserving of the world and you, the woman who would make sure he’d get everything he wanted. “You’re going to find the All Blue, Sanji. I’ll make damn sure of it.”
The sound of your captain shouting Sanji and you over to where the rest of the crew now stood, brought a beaming smile onto the cook’s face. He gazed upon you with a hopeful glee in his eyes and reached down for your hand. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
As the words danced around Sanji’s heart, hand in hand, you walked over to Luffy and the others; Zoro being quick to make a quip about your new relationship status. Lovesick idiots were his exact words which sent Sanji into a raging fit. Holding him by the waist, you laughed which made Nami shout at you for egging them on. Chopper voiced his concern about Sanji and you being sick, Robin giggled at his cuteness, while Brook asked if seeing your panties was out of the question now – which in turn made Sanji’s fiery directed to him. Luffy shouted for Sanji to stop, that he would burn Brook down to the…bones. Usopp smacked Luffy on the head because the musician was already made of bones. Franky cheered for no one in particular, he just wanted to see a fight, while Jinbei could only laugh at the mess in front of him. After several minutes of this, the arguing turned into soft bickering that involved into laughter and then Sanji’s arm was around your shoulder, everyone’s cup of sake in the air. Smiles all around and in the morning, the Sunny would sail away from Wano. Sanji and you, side by side, would be monsters together, forever.

Oooohhh! Now you got me all excited! Also welcome back! And I think I know which Scientist your talking about! (Since I’m caught up in the Anime and Manga I know cannon evil scientist Characters that would fit) and that’s okay if you don’t add in Overhaul (I just remembered how much I truly hate and despise him, like I love how Deku will give everyone a chance, but Overhaul? Seriously? The other side of the world isn’t far enough to keep him away from Eri!)
Part 12 Water 7
After Aokiji, they see a Giant Frog doing the Front Crawl, find a Train Station on the Sea, and meet Granny Kokoro, Chimney and Gonbe (Reader becomes friends with Chimney and Gonbe), then head to Water 7 to finally fix the Going Merry repaired and finally get a Shipwright (And get their gold traded in for, which Nami added Reader in for her threat for their proper sum, which Luffy and Usopp yelled at her for)
Meeting the Gally-La crew and Iceburg (She likes Iceburg, Polly *Shocking her family since Polly doesn’t exactly scream ‘friendly’* Tyrannosaurus, Iceburgs’ mouse and Hattori, Lucci’s pigeon, but is uncomfortable about Lucci and Kaku as they feels ‘off’ to her, which Gally-La tries to explain Lucci’s ‘shy’, but she still keeps her distance) though it was a shock that their money was stolen but not as badly as Usopp being attacked (And find out Robin is missing)
It’s a shock when Luffy reveals they have to get a new ship, with Luffy and Usopp fight over, only for Reader tries to use her power to fix the Merry which everyone told her ‘NO!’ (They don’t want her to use her power as she’s been using it so many times, suffering from fevers and don’t want her to think she has to always use her power to fix everything that happens) and she stayed inside as couldn’t watch the fight between Usopp and Luffy since she doesn’t want either hurt
However the next day she and her family are being chased and hunt down by the residents of Water 7 for trying to Assassinate Iceburg, however at night they finally meet CP9, who reveal themselves and have Robin with them, but before they leave, Lucci forcefully grabs Reader to take her with them since she is one of their targets for the World Government, but they must bring her alive (And collect Franky along the way)
You can change and abridged this if you want (I wanted to add in the main events, along with the Train Ride to Enies Lobby being my next request since Water 7 branches into like 3-4 different arcs and it’s just a LOT of stuff to go over)
-You had no idea what a train was, after the ship came across a train track, and Usopp and Robin were happy to show you pictures, but you were confused, “These are on land, why is this in the ocean?”
-They unfortunately couldn’t answer, as they didn’t know off the top of their head before Sanji spoke, “What’s that?” attention went out to the track and you all saw a giant toad.
-A loud whistle was heard and your eyes lit up as the train came down the tracks, straight for the toad and you shouted, worried, “Look out Mr. Toad!” the train hit and he was sent flying, making you worry.
-Everyone else was panicking as well, trying to figure out what happened until you saw a building in the distance, a train station.
-Once the ship was docked, Luffy, Sanji, Robin, and Usopp got off and met with Granny Kokoro, Chimney, and Gonbe, who explained everything about the Sea Train, and how it travels around to the various ports around in this area.
-Chimney couldn’t help but beam at you, finding a new friend in someone younger than her, and you couldn’t help but smile, after you were a little shy at first, running round playing with Gonbe.
-Luffy couldn’t help but laugh, seeing you have fun as Kokoro gave information to them about going to Water 7, a place where shipwrights were aplenty, as Merry needed some attention and Luffy like the idea of getting a shipwright on his crew.
-Once you had the direction you needed to head, you waved goodbye to your new friends and you were soon off again.
-Once docked and ready to disembark, you looked over at Zoro who was fast asleep on the deck of the ship, Nami making sure your disguise was perfect before you would disembark, “Will Zoro be okay by himself?” Nami just grinned, ruffling your hair gently, “He’ll be fine, we need to leave someone on the ship and he’ll make sure everything is safe.”
-You nodded up at her before Usopp picked you up, holding you in his arms as everyone else left the ship, everyone pairing up except for Sanji who went to go and get food.
-Nami didn’t hesitate to use you to make sure that they received a proper sum for the gold they brought in, telling those in the bank that they better not be cheating your future. You were confused, looking around with big eyes, and while not fully approving of her using you, Luffy and Usopp did agree that they better not be cheated out of anything.
-Once the briefcases of money had been obtained, you held onto Usopp’s hand, window shopping while you headed in the direction the bank worker told Luffy to go in to find a good shipwright to inspect the ship.
-Nami explained to you that they had to first inspect the ship, to find out the extent of the damage, and once that is known, then they could fix the ship.
-Iceburg was so nice to you, giving you a piece of candy after he saw you peeking out from behind Luffy’s leg. Tyrannasaurs, his pet mouse, was super cute as well, running down Iceburg’s arm to sit on the top of your head for a moment.
-Paulie was… at first he scared you, yelling at Nami and Kalifa to cover up, calling them indecent. He went to say something crude before Lucci punched the top of his head, sending him to the ground.
-Hatori then spoke, “There is a child present you dummy!” your eyes instantly turned into stars, “It talks- big brother the birdie is talking!” you tugged on Luffy’s hand as Hatori flew from Lucci’s shoulder into your opened hands, “My name is Hatori, and that’s Lucci- he’s a little shy.” Paulie grumbled lightly, rubbing the back of his head before he gave you a grin, ruffling your hair lightly, apologizing to you only, but not to Nami or Kalifa for his earlier insults.
-Your bright sparkly eyes and huge smile was so heartwarming to all of them, you looked so adorable, but you remained close to Luffy as there was something about Kalifa and Lucci, and Kaku whom you all met earlier, that made you…uneasy.
-It wasn’t like when you normally met new people, being with strangers, this was something else.
-As you all were heading back to the ship, Usopp got separated from you, Luffy, and Nami, as you had all been playing ‘get the money back from thieves’ for what felt like forever.
-When Kaku found Luffy, you and Iceberg, after Nami went to go find Usopp as he had the other half of the money, and told him that there would be no fixing Merry, tears welled in your eyes, as that was your home, you didn’t want to leave the first home you felt happy and safe in.
-Luffy was left to ponder this as Chopper and Sanji arrived back, Chopper crying that Robin is missing, you gasped, scared, as Zoro held you in his arms, as Sanji explained that he saw Robin with an unknown masked man.
-Nami then ran back to the ship, “Usopp’s been attacked!!” immediately everyone went on the defensive, listening to Nami that Usopp had been robbed and left bloody and beaten in the streets, the Franky Family, who had been the ones trying to take it earlier, were the culprits.
-Luffy rushed off immediately, not even knowing where he was going before the others were quick to follow, Zoro leaving you and Chopper on the ship.
-However, you looked at Chopper, looking scared, but determined, “We need to go help Usopp!” while initially going to deny this, going to leave it to the others, Chopper agreed and the two of you headed off the ship together, rushing towards Usopp’s location, only to find him not there and a trail of blood leading you both away from the area.
-Chopper and you found Usopp first, near death, extremely hurt and you cried, “Big brother!” your cries attracted attention of those inside the house nearby and they came out, seeing Chopper and a little child over the body of the idiot who tried to take them on himself, you crying loudly.
-Usopp was trying to calm you down, trying to tell you not to use your powers as you took his hand before a voice shouted out, “Usopp! Chopper! Y/N!!” you gasped, turning as the Franky Family came out to find out who you were, only to be taken out by Luffy, followed by Sanji and Zoro who arrived right after.
-Once the Franky House was destroyed you all went back to the ship where Usopp was bandaged up, you were sniffling, holding onto his hand, “Can’t I heal him a little?” everyone, even Usopp, told you no, not willing to risk your health.
-When Luffy announced that with what was found, you would all have to get a new ship. Usopp thought he was joking and quickly got into an argument with Luffy.
-Sanji held you close after pulling you away, your arms around his neck, trembling like a leaf, not liking your family fighting, and with Robin being missing as well, you were scared. You didn’t want to lose your home and your family.
-When Usopp challenged Luffy to a duel, saying he was going to leave otherwise, you ran over and hugged his leg, “Don’t go! I’ll-I’ll fix it- I can fix Merry so please don’t fight anymore!!”
-Usopp’s angered look fell, softening as he kneeled, brushing your tears away, but said nothing to you before pecking your forehead and he left.
-Nami held you close, trying to calm you down, “I know you want to help, Y/N, but you can’t fix everything, sometimes things change and we just have to deal with it. You’ve been using your ability a lot here lately, and each time you get a fever- that’s not healthy. We’ll be okay.”
-Luffy said nothing, upset that he had upset you, but knew this was something that had to happen.
-Several hours later, and after Nami failed to try to convince Luffy to talk things over with words, as he knew that Usopp knew when to be serious, they prepared for their fight.
-Sanji felt terrible, holding you close inside the galley as you were crying, they all said you wouldn’t be allowed to watch the fight, because they knew how upset it was going to make you, so Sanji volunteered to be the bad guy and hold you in the galley.
-You ended up crying yourself to sleep and didn’t wake until the next morning, waking up in a hotel room, and not the ship. You felt terrible, almost like you were sick, but you knew it was from crying so hard.
-You were scared to see everyone, scared to see the aftermath of the fight, but when you walked out, you weren’t prepared for Zoro grabbing you, tossing you to Luffy as everyone was shouted at to run.
-You were confused, clinging to Luffy as a bunch of people were after you, finding out that the crew was framed for trying to kill Iceburg, which made your eyes go wide, as that wasn’t true!
-You and Luffy got separated from everyone else who were trying to escape those chasing them as well as looking for the still missing Robin, after you learned that Robin was one of the people who was there when Iceburg was almost assassinated.
-You couldn’t- you wouldn’t believe Robin would do something like that and Luffy agreed, now looking for Iceburg to demand the truth from him.
-Luffy passed you off to Sanji and Chopper so he could go off and you gasped, seeing Robin who told the three of you to stop following her, confusing you.
-Robin explained there was a darkness inside of her, and if she stayed with you all, then you would all get hurt. Sanji was quick to figure it out that she was being forced to do this, probably by that masked man.
-You and Chopper ran off together, on order of Sanji, and luckily you found Luffy, Nami, and Zoro and Chopper explains what happened with Robin and what Sanji thought, that she was being forced to do this.
-After breaking into the Galley-La headquarters was quite the adventure, you remained with Nami, who was being the only smart one, while Luffy rushed in head first, as you all looked for Iceburg.
-Paulie nearly attacked Luffy after seeing him, demanding answers and Zoro arrived right after and after a brief fight, everyone fell into a room where several familiar faces were.
-Seeing the truth, Paulie ran to help Iceburg, only to be easily beaten as the truth came out, that CP9 were the ones who did the assassination attempt, looking for blueprints, but the ones that were here, were fake.
-Luffy demanded to see Robin, who wasn’t with them, and before you could blink, Lucci rushed forward, kicking Luffy hard in the stomach, sending him back into the others while grabbing you, holding you to his chest.
-You gasped, “Big brother!” before you heard the others shouting out your name. Lucci then spoke, “Y/N is wanted by the World Government, so we’re taking her along with Nico Robin.”
-Lucci handed you to Kalifa who held you close, her grip gentle but firm, as they easily took care of your family, Paulie and Iceburg.
-You were so scared you were silent, silent tears streaming down your face which did surprise the CP9 agents, they could see that your terror was genuine, making them curious if you were scared going to the World Government, that there was a story you didn’t know.
-You overheard their plans, looking for Franky, the same person who beat up Usopp and tried to attack Luffy and Nami earlier, as he would know where the blueprints would be.
-When they entered Franky’s hideout, you saw Usopp after Franky was blown through a wall, Usopp rushing over to help him and your eyes went wide, “Usopp!” he turned, seeing you and he instantly glared, “Y/N?! Let her go!!” You cried when Kaku easily dispatched him before they told both Usopp and Franky that their boss, Spandam, wanted to see them, mainly Franky, calling him Cutty Flam.
-Kalifa found you adorable, as you all headed towards the train station, as the storm was beginning to rage and you were scared, hugging her around her neck. She cooed softly, “There- there Y/N, it’s all right, this happens every year.”
-Once at the station you were surprised to see the train up so close, but you didn’t want it to happen this way. While their backs were turned, you saw Sanji peeking around the corner and he held a finger to his lips and you kept quiet.
-You learned that these people weren’t going to hurt you, as long as you behaved, which you did only out of fear, but you were scared about what was going to happen if you were handed over to the World Government.
-You were scared when Franky and Usopp were put in one car and you were taken to another, but Usopp gave you a firm nod, silently telling you to be brave, which Franky saw, respecting the care he was showing to you.
-Usopp told Franky who you were, trusting him, and Franky was stunned to learn this, as you had been in your disguise, not recognizing you, but he became determined to save you as well.
-You burst into tears as Kalifa dropped you in Robin’s lap who looked relieved to see you, “Y/N” CP9 left you and her alone as you hugged her, crying loudly over everything that had happened in the past two days.
-Robin held you close, angry that you were there, you should be safe somewhere else, as she knew what was going to happen if the government got their hands on you.
-Once she got you calmed down, after giving yourself the hiccups again, Robin tried to figure out what she was going to do, she didn’t want to put you at risk, as well as nobody else in the crew, as that was part of the deal with CP9, they would leave the crew alone if she went quietly.
-The situation was now different, as you were thrown into the mix. She didn’t know what she was going to do!!
-A tap on the window was heard and you saw a mysterious masked man with a long nose, not realizing it was Usopp but Robin did as he explained Sanji was on the train and they were going to rescue her and you both.
-Robin tried to explain that he was in great danger- they all were, before he managed to get inside, hiding under the seats while Robin lied to Corgi about someone else being in the same car.
-When a Shooting Star shot out from under the seats, Corgi was momentarily blinded before Sanji ran in, “Robin-san! Y/N!” Robin hesitated before she left you on the seat, not wanting you to be hurt and ran, “Don’t follow me- you’ll be killed if you do!”
-You hopped off the seat, running after Sanji and Usopp and you could see the tears in Robin’s eyes as she kicked Usopp back, telling him to leave her, you could see how much this was hurting her as well.
-Something happened in the car before you, as you were far behind, due to your short little legs and you were knocked off balance, hitting your head hard on the ground. You heard Sanji and Robin calling out your name in worry, before everything went black.

Whole Cake Island revolves around the complexities of family, the juxtaposition of blood ties versus chosen family, and the struggle for personal freedom amidst oppressive family structures. As with everything One Piece — it's pretty damn great.
Tumblr media
It’s not just about Sanji getting dragged back to his abusive family, but about how the concept of family itself is explored from different angles — whether it’s blood relations, chosen family, or the chains that tie people to their past.
He was raised in this nightmare where strength was the only thing that mattered, and anything outside of that — like compassion or kindness — was seen as weakness. And the arc goes out of its way to affirm that it is in his kindness that Sanji's true strength lies.
The idea of found family is a recurring theme in the series. For Sanji, the Straw Hats are his true family, and the bond he shares with them is way stronger than anything he has with the Vinsmokes. And the arc is very explicit about how even though Sanji may not want his abusers to be massacred, and even if they help him a bit by the end, that does not make them family.
We have this lovely moment at the end of the arc where his father spouts insults about how soft and essentially feminine-coded Sanji is, and Sanji says nothing back while Luffy innocently wonders what why Sanji's father is shouting Sanji's best qualities to him which just... it says everything.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of Sanji, his arc is very much intertwined with Pudding's. Who is set up as this sweet innocent bride-to-be, but we quickly learn she’s just as deceptive as the rest of Big Mom’s crew. She’s been playing everyone, including Sanji, but Sanji being Sanji, still manages to see the good in her. He helps her realize that she doesn’t have to be defined by her family’s expectations or her appearance (one of many thematic parallels in the arc).
Luffy gets great stuff throughout the arc too. His loyalty to his crew, especially his declaration that he won’t eat anything but Sanji’s cooking, hits hard because it’s not just about food — it’s about how much he values Sanji as a person. Luffy knows Sanji is suffering and that he doesn’t really want to leave, so he plants himself in the middle of danger and waits for him. It speaks volumes about the strength of their bond.
In contrast, Big Mom’s version of “family” is twisted. She treats her children like collections, using them for political marriages or to build her empire. Sure, she may talk a big game about wanting a perfect family, but she treats her kids like tools. To Big Mom, family only matters as long as it helps her achieve her goals (of course juxtaposed by how it is the complete opposite of how the Straw Hats do family).
Tumblr media
Another major player in the arc is Katakuri, who starts off as this untouchable, perfect figure, but as his fight with Luffy progresses, we see that he’s hiding his true self. He’s built up this image of perfection for his family’s sake, but deep down, he’s just as vulnerable as anyone else. Luffy, being Luffy, drags that out of him, and by the end of their fight, Katakuri learns to embrace who he really is, flaws and all. I think it works pretty well thematically, even if it's a bit of a simple parallel and his reason for wanting to hide himself (people hurt his family in retaliation for how he looked, which is that he had a bit of a weird mouth doesn't do much when he's far from the weirdest looking character in the series, or even the weirdest looking character in his family lol). Nevertheless, it fits and he makes for a great foe to Luffy.
Big Mom herself is a walking contradiction. On the one hand, she wants to create this utopia where everyone — no matter their race or background — can live together in harmony. But on the other hand, she’s a tyrant who uses her children and subordinates to get what she wants. I'm interested where that will go in the future.
I have a couple of drawbacks with the arc, which really aren't fundamental in the sense of "this is bad", but more so as in why it separates this from just being a really great arc as opposed to an exceptional arc that goes beyond that.
I think the fundamental one is just that it's a bit too... simple? Don't get me wrong, there are some emotional and personal themes here. Some of the more personal themes in the series. But Sanji's abuse isn't much more complicated than a quick flashback to him being abused under a horrific but very simple ideology from his father. It's great that it's very family abolitionist and very explicit about cutting abusers out of your life.
But I just think the depiction isn't particularly noteworthy to me when I've read other stuff that handles abuse in more interesting ways. In the same manner that, sure, I like how Katakuri's arc worked thematically, but by itself it's a rather simple character thing and isn't particularly interesting on its own.
Most of the arc is just a long raid, which is great, but when the emotional core is rather simple. Then the plot and conflict is rather simple too it basically makes for an arc that works so strongly because of its execution. Still, there's nothing there to elevate it conceptually beyond "a simple but great arc".
I also feel like many of the all-time One Piece arcs are about structural oppression? Again, I like that we got a more personal arc about oppressive family structures. I just felt like we didn't have much to say about it besides "this is bad" with very straightforward abuse. When One Piece deals with the oppression of an entire nation, how it's intergenerational and intersectional, how it affects different people differently which gives us so many different characters with their emotional stories, how it changes the customs and culture of the nation, and the insane heights of emotional crescendo as the unimagine tyranny is finally eliminated and liberation is at high -- is what the series does best and when it has the most interesting things to say.
Tumblr media
Overall, of course, Whole Cake Island is a great arc. At its core, it’s about finding your place in the world — whether it’s breaking free from the family that tries to control you or embracing the found family that accepts you for who you are. Sanji’s journey is one of self-acceptance and it's the best his character has been maybe ever. The Candyland horror aesthetic is some of the best in the series so far. Plus, that Luffy vs Katakuri fight kicked ass.
And while my tiny quibbles, from its more straightforward narrative to its lack of particularly strong pathos to elevate it further, it's still a great arc that I really can't complain about when it's already better than most arcs in any other shonen series. With so much good stuff going on, I'm nothing but happy.

[Sanji finds you crying and pretends to believe your excuses. Is anyone up for slow dancing in the rain?]
Enjoying my work? You can leave me a tip on Ko-Fi | Have a request?
When the time for supper came, Sanji knocked on your door to let you now. He was met with silence, so he naturally assumed you were sleeping. Not much of a problem - he'll set aside a portion for when you wake up hungry.
The problem is, that was around two hours ago.
Sanji knocked on your door again and when silence answered him this time also, he allowed himself to peek inside. Only to discover your bed is empty. He grew suspicious, if not worried, when no one could tell him where you went. It's the middle of the night and the rainstorm doesn't stop. Sanji also noticed how quiet and upset you've been most of the day, making him all the more tense that you are unaccounted for. The thought that you're obediently suffering in silence breaks him more each time he entertains it.
Sanji is scrubbing the cutting board with feverish vigour. The faster he finishes, the faster he can get to making sure you're fine. As though the fish scales knew his thoughts, they simply wouldn't get off the wooden surface.
The steel scrubber escapes his hands. It hits the sink with a quiet clank. He takes a deep breath to calm himself down and looks away from the pile of dishes. That's when he finally sees you through the smudged porthole. The rain outside obscures your silhouette. Nevertheless, Sanji is beyond convinced that it is, in fact, you. Despite the initial relief, he feels his chest tighten. You look like a marble statue, forever frozen still in grief.
Leaving the cutting board in the sink and grabbing his suit jacket, Sanji dashes out the door, making haste to you. What on Earth do you think you're doing out in this weather?
The cold rain hits him like a wall of ice. True, the cool water may feel refreshing after the hot and humid daytime hours but not at this rate of rainfall. Even if the nights in the open sea weren't so dark, it would still be impossible to see anything beyond the ship.
He has to come close to you to see the heartwrenching details of your silhouette. You're hunched over, staring at the turbulent waters below. The clothes you're wearing are absolutely drenched, no dry string in their material. Every now and then, your freezing body shivers violently.
"Love?" he calls out to you in an unsure voice.
But you don't react - at least not in the way he has been expecting you to. Instead of looking at him, you turn your face further away, quickly wiping it with your hands.
Sanji wastes no time. In long strides, he finds himself pressed up against your side and forcing his jacket around your shoulders. Considering the heavy rain it won't do much in the long run but maybe it can keep you warm until he convinces you to go back inside.
"Hey, look at me," he pleads in a soft voice.
Too tired and heartbroken, you let his warm fingers guide your face towards him. As if time suddenly slows down, you notice each wrinkle that appears and disappears when he studies your sorrowful expression. If he was a little less perceptive, Sanji would think your face is just wet from the heavy rainfall. The red veins of your bloodshot, puffy eyes are hardly visible in the darkness of the rainy night but not black enough to remain unseen by Sanji.
"What's wrong? Why are you crying? What happened?" he keeps asking. With each question, he feels the tension in his chest only rising.
"I'm not crying, I'm perfectly fine," you reassure him. Your forced scoff is followed by a pathetic sniffle. "It's just the rain. Saltwater irritated my eyes."
Of course, with your whole "I'm brave and strong and I can manage on my own" facade, you're not going to openly admit to weakness in front of anyone, even if it's painfully obvious. As much as Sanji considers your tough image charming, he wishes you would discard it once in a while - for your own sake.
"How can you be fine with saltwater in your eyes, princess?" Sanji goes along with your poorly constructed lie. His arms engulf you in a warm, albeit drenching wet, hug. "It must burn."
"Yeah, it does," you mumble against his soaking shirt. With a little more light, you would be able to see his bare skin from underneath the wet material. "But it's getting better."
One of Sanji's hands is keeping your head against his shoulder while the other drags up and down your back in a soothing gesture. The jacket he has put around your arms is already drenched, too. He feels your body shaking but can't be sure whether it's because of the "saltwater" or the cold weather. In any case, his heart breaks each time he feels those spasms. His mind panics in search of something that could possibly lift your mood.
The noise of the rainfall is disrupted by a soft, low hum. A melody you vaguely know rumbles inside Sanji's chest. Dean Martin...? Strong arms hold you tightly against his torso as he ever-so-gently sways you to the rhythm of the song.
A quiet giggle escapes your lips as you let yourself sink into the comfort of him. Up until this moment, the cosiness of a loved one's arms confronted with the coldness of a rainstorm, you've thought that scenes like these exist only in sappy novels written for naive young women.
"Slow dancing in the rain," you finally speak up. If it wasn't for the rather unpleasant rain drenching you to every last string of your clothing, yous wear you could fall asleep like this. "Aren't you a hopeless romantic, Sanji?"
"I'm just getting started, love," he murmurs against your hair, still slowly swaying your bodies despite having stopped the humming. You're inclined to believe that his chivalry ventures far beyond dancing in the rain.
"Oh, yes, please."
A low chuckle rumbles inside his chest. It merges into a symphony with the soft thrumming of his steady heartbeat.
"Feeling any better?" he asks in a serious tone.
To Sanji's dissatisfaction, you lean away from him to look at his face. Your eyes are still red but the curious glint he's learned to associate with you has found its way back into them. It seems like your grit, honesty or facade, has returned.
"What will you do if I say no?" you ask back.
As relief washes over him, Sanji smiles down at you. His hand slicks your drenched hair out of your puffy face.
"I should figure something out just for my baby," he answers without missing a beat. His fingers brush along your jaw and chin.
Before you have a chance to inquire, Sanji leans down and lifts you. A yelp of surprise is pulled out of your chest. Without much problem and clearly with a lot of enjoyment, he carries you back inside the lower deck of the ship.

I have no clue if anyone has written this but
Hanahaki Disease and Zosan
Below is just me rambling haha
General Warnings: Angst, Death, Swearing, no beta, shit grammar and spelling, probably ooc
Like Zoro was the first who fell in love with Sanji during pre-timeskip, but Sanji didn't return the feelings. I mean, how could he? When would he ever? That man talks about ladies 24/7 and goes crazy over them! There's no way Zoro has any chance with that shitty cook.
I don't what flowers Zoro would throw up, but I like to think red roses because I associate them with Sanji --Romantic, beautiful, untouchable, cliche.
Zoro at first refused to do anything about the disease. Some stupid flowers can't hurt him! He'll be fine!
But then the thorns started to dig into his lungs and he found it harder to breathe without feeling the thorns painfully dig into his organs. At that point, if he didn't do anything, he'd surely die and he would have failed his crew and Kuina.
He had to keep living for them, so he got the surgery. He didn't need romance anyway. That shitty cook can run off with some girl for all he cares.
Everything then went on fine. Sure, he no longer romantically loved Sanji, but he still very much loves him as a brother and crewmate despite their fights and rivalry.
After the timeskip, Sanji caught the feels. One day, he was looking at Zoro nap with Chopper on his chest and he realized:
Fuck.
He was in love with Roronoa Zoro.
He panicked because what? Sanji? In love with a man? Uh oh, sexuality crisis.
Then the flowers started coming. Yellow gladioli (gladioluses?). Beautiful, radiant, little flowers fit for a warrior. Although, toxic to humans if consumed. He should be fine as long as he doesn't consume them. He'd have an upset stomach if he did.
Boy, oh boy, Sanji was deep in the unrequited love situation.
He refused to get the surgery. He'd rather die than lose such a wonderful feeling that he might never get to experience again. He let it get worse.
Some of his friends begged him to get the surgery. They couldn't bear the thought of losing him. Sanji still refused, and he never once told Zoro that he was the cause. He'd hate making him feel terrible for something he couldn't control.
Zoro found out anyways. How? No clue. He probably overheard Sanji or Luffy spilled the beans.
Needless to say, he felt horrible.
There could've been a way to save Sanji if he just didn't get the surgery. They could've lived together, in love, happily ever after. But no, the universe decided to just curse them with such shitty luck. Great.
Now Sanji was fucking set on dying for love. Stupid, stupid cook. Why couldn't he just get the surgery?
Zoro refused to tell Sanji about his past with Hanahaki. Curly brows was already suffering, telling him wouldn't do him any good.
When Sanji took his final breath, Zoro cried. He called him stupid and kept begging for Sanji to explain himself.
Why? Why? Why?
Why did he let himself die? Why did he hang on to love? Why did he leave them behind?
Why did he leave him behind?
Why did the universe do this to them? Why was it so cruel?

Robin being group mom for the swapped au siblings is so good… not only is she a motherly figure for the boys who’ve never really had one and for Reiju who only vaguely remembers their mother, but her odd morbidity kind of tempers it for them because they aren’t used to all of the warmth and community the strawhats have built among each other. I imagine whenever they argue they additionally have to kind of fight for who gets to be with Robin first afterwards and that’s a right mess as well, bc they’re all just not that used to spending time with the louder strawhats and all the chaos that ends up with them.
I think they’re probably the worst with Franky— not only is he massive and loud and contrary to most things they’ve been taught, he’s also so very emotional. There’s a 50/50 chance they’ll say anything and he’ll start bawling because he’s sad they’ve missed out on x or y and they don’t really know how to handle it in the least!! It’s overwhelming!
- Wine
Good to hear from you Wine! Yeah the kids definitely don't know what a loving home is supposed to be like and then add on the run away royalty to it and it's just this weird mashed together pattern of showing love and care without really knowing how and then add in a brother who doesn't feel much of anything yet but is starting to learn and it's a mess. Since joining the Strawhats they definitely argue less but they do still happen. I think Niji would start having doubts about Sanji gaining emotions because uh.... he's been a mercenary since like age ten and Robin says part of being human is living with the pain of past actions, but it's not like Sanji had a choice, he was a victim.
Franky is so loud and emotional it probably scares them at first because why is he so free with his emotions. Ichiji is the most wigged out because he was the crown prince and had the pressure of the entire kingdom and his siblings and damn did he try to crush those pesky things but it didn't work. So Ichiji is having lots of issues that he's trying just figure out how to avoid the shipwright at all costs and it's not working and he's suffering and it's a whole thing and he's not having fun. He'll stare wide eyed at Franky who is sobbing because all Ichiji said was that their mom died drinking poison which is why the brothers aren't all like Sanji. Ichiji is so used to the horrible things he's desensitized and so Franky telling him that's horrible as he sobs loudly. Also he's really big kind of like Judge and it's just that trick of ptsd that big man=judge when that's not true but still.
Also I think Reiju, who was most familiar with their mother, looks at Franky and says Sora would have loved him. The tears and wailing are expected but now she's in the air and against a giant metal man who is squeezing her very tightly and yelling about how much that means to him. One time Franky, Niji, and Yonji are talking, as well as some of the other guys from the strawhats and Yonji asks Niji when Judge gave up on them and Niji's confused 'as weapons or making Sanji king? because both of those happened by the time we were eight.' and Franky's crying again and there's questions from all around. Yonji says they do need to work on being more open and Niji tackles him. Robin separates them with a very stern 'Boys.' which makes them all settle down significantly.

Shattered hearts and bottles
Zoro x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warnings:angst, angst without comfort, drinking, arguing, established relationship, breakups
I'm so, so, sorry but yall are suffering with me
Inspired by this song:
He knew he should have been softer. Should have listened to you. But it was too late now.
Your argument still stung his heart as it replayed in his head, as if the first time hadn't been painful enough.
He clenched his fists tight. Slamming his left hand into the wall leaving a huge dent.
It hurt more knowing you would stay with sanji out of spite.
He could hear you both know. He knew you wouldn't cheat you weren't like that.
Why did he have to get so mad?
He lifted the bottle back up to his lips taking a lengthy glug.
He moved his legs slightly the countless empty glass bottles clinking together.
It took a lot to get zoro drunk and right now he was cursing that fact.
He wished the alcohol would wash away the image of your hurt angry face.
Wished the alcohol could take away the fact that he was the reason for that expression.
You and sanji had just been cooking, and he had to get all protective over you, well fuck him.
"What do I do now ive added the chicken?" You'd fretted.
"Calm down love, just add the stock and stir it."
"Oh ok."
"Whats this?" He'd asked.
"Oh sanji was just teaching me to cook?" You'd replied innocently.
"Oh he was?"
"I'm sorry is there an issue?"
"Why didn't you tell me about this?" He'd felt the rage stur in his stomach.
"What?"
"You know what just keep flirting with shitty brows."
"Flirting? No zoro we were just cooking."
"Oh so that's what you call this?"
"Yes because that's what it is," you'd stiffened going on the defensive. "Do you think I'm lying?"
"Yes."
"Why? What have I ever done to make me unloyal in your eyes?"
"I-"
"No I don't wanna hear it. Why are you so... frustrating?"
"Me? Woman have you met yourself?"
"Yes I have but I've also sadly met you, and with how your acting right now I wish I never had!"
"How am I acting then?"
"Like an incompetent child denied a toy,"
"At least I'm not flirting with some third rate cook."
"Neither am I!"
He had scoffed, causing you to place your hands on your hips eyebrows high.
"If you have something to say say it!" You spat.
"Why bother, your obviously to bussy with him, you know what why dont you just fuck him while your at it."
"Zoro!" Sanji warned.
"And you, stay away from her, the only thing your good for is food, fucking remember it."
"Zoro leave sanji out of this."
"I'd love to but your the one you fucked him into this!"
"Omg do you even have a brain in there, or is it just as empty as your heart!"
"At least I have a heart, bitch!" He'd regretted that instantly. But that hadn't stopped him. "Why are you even here you can't fight, you can't think and you most certainly can't fuck!"
"Me? Zoro you can barely take two steps without getting lost! All you do is sleep, to be honest all you do is take up space!"
"And your just a whore!" He spat.
"I can't believe I fell in love with you," you'd said in disgust.
"You love me?"
"NO! NO I DONT! NOT ANYMORE!" Her face stained with tears.
"You don't mean that?"
"Try me!"
"Whos acting like a child now!"
"Leave us alone zoro."
"No I'm not leaving you alone with him," he had pointed to sanji.
"I SAID GET THE FUCK OUT!" then she'd thrown the wine bottle.
The shards of glass didn't hurt half as much as her words.
His heart hurt.
You'd confessed your love in that argument.
But had zoro ruined things?
That moment wasn't what he expected he'd never considered being in love with you but now, after that he realised he did.
He was madly inlove with you and he worried that now you'd realised you didn't love him afterall.
He felt suffocated, he had been rendered blind to all but his thoughts and the bottle in his hand.
His tears run free down his cheeks and trickling down the glass of the bottle.
His eyes stung slightly.
Oh how he wished you were here to hold. Here on his lap nesting into his chest as he burrowed his face in your hair.
He instinctively wrapped his arms tighter but finding nothing but himself.
He sobbed into his elbow. Tucking his knees up higher.
In his head he could hear you voice asking if he was ok. He lifted his head throwing it back against the wall his hand clutching at his shirt over his heart.
"DAMN YOU!" He cried out his tears coming thick and fast. His head throbbed but not nearly as much as his heart.
He didn't doubt everyone on the ship had heard his scream but it didn't even compare to the screaming of his heart.
He stood quickly, lobbing the still half full bottle at the wall. The throw caught him off balance and he stumbled forwards causing him to fall to his knees.
His knees stung as the bottles shattered under his weight.
No one had come to check on him, he could hear them comforting you. More proof he was in the wrong.
His strong fist thudded against the floor inpailing glass into it.
"FUCK!" He sobbed.
His head spun at his own voice, he seemed to have skipped the drunk stage and gone straight into hangover.
Grabbing another full bottle he sat back on his knees and downed that one too.
If you were here you would rub his back and scold him for drinking so much.
But you weren't and every breath he took was a sick reminder.
He needed comfort too. But he didn't deserve it. Rolling onto his back his threw his arm over his eyes sheltering his gaze from the throbbing lights. Or maybe it was his head that was throbbing.
If he could take it back he would.
You deserved better than him. Maybe Sanji could treat you better.
Sanji? What the fuck was he thinking?
He swigged his booze again.
Had he lost you forever now? You'd argued before but this felt more real. He'd never made you yell before let alone cry.
What if you really didn't want him?
He couldn't stand this, this unknowing, this turmoil.
So ignoring his pounding head, he stood leaving the bottle he stumbled through the door, down hallways until he was in the kitchen.
You were sitting on the table crying into sanjis shoulder and nami rubbed you back.
"Hey, um," he rubbed the back of his neck, not quite able to slurr out your name.
"You!" Nami seethed.
"Can I talk to her alone," he slurred slightly.
"Zoro your completely intoxicated, I don't think you want to talk to her now," sanji offered.
"I do," his gaze slipped to the floor.
You just sat there head on sanjis shoulder, listening.
"Ok but we're staying!" Nami glared at him.
He just nodded.
Sanji and nami took a couple of steps away and zoro strode over to you. Standing just a baby step away from you.
"Uum, I just- I'm sorry," he spluttered, the other two exchanged a shocked look. "I over reacted and, i shouldn't have said, any, of those things, I was just mad but not at you, at me. I guess-"
He looked away gritting his teeth fists clenched.
"I guess it made me realise I love you too!" He finished looking to you with bated breath.
You both stayed like that for what felt like hours but was probably only a few seconds.
"Zoro," you said softly, tilted your head up to his. He saw your face, scarily absent of tears. "I'm sorry but, I meant what I said."
Cold fear gripped his heart and twisted his gut.
His heart thudding in his ears as cold sweat covered him.
"I don't love you anymore," you smiled gently.
His head spun this time for a completely different reason.
"I've decided to leave, there's an island pretty close by, I'm going to stay there."
His own tears threatened to fall.
He could see himself reflected in your gorgeous eyes. The same eyes that had once looked to him with such love, now completely void of emotion.
"Oh, ok!" His voice shook as his lip wobbled. "I understand!" He wiped his eyes quickly exiting the room.
The door clicked shut behind him and he collapsed against it not bothering to hide his sobs as they echoed across the whole ship.

Parted Lips
Tumblr media
This SFW oneshot was inspired by This Post by @hufflefluffy about how Sanji would be with someone who struggles with eating such as with sensory issues, eating disorders, etc.
That post made me so happy, so I wrote this fic about Sanji helping his crewmate who has severe chronic TMJ pain.
Pairings: Sanji x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 1734
Ao3 Link
Summary: Sanji has made another meal just for you, but it's still too painful to eat. You open up to Sanji about your jaw pain, and he offers to help you work through it
Rating/Warnings: SFW, Fluff, Angst, they aren't together yet but there's tension, and it is mildly suggestive, Mostly just sweet Sanji being a lovely human, Chronic Pain, TMJ Disorder, Difficulties with eating such as chewing and appetite, Grief
A/N: I've been struggling with this, and this past year has been awful. Sometimes I couldn't even eat soft cheese. I'm so lucky that my partner is very much like Sanji, and has learned to cook things for me that I can enjoy, and held my hand through this. I hope we can all find that kind of support for our pain. 💜💜
Tumblr media
“Mm, this smells amazing, Sanji.”
The bowl of stew he’d placed before you had your mouth watering the scent of the meat and spices making pleasant chills run over your skin.
Sanji smiled as he sat across from you, and the sight of his own matching bowl made you frown.
“Why are you having mine?”
“Oh, ma chérie, are you hungry enough for more tonight, I can make something else.”
With a heavy sigh, you leaned away, your small appetite growing smaller at your sour mood.
“You know what I mean, Sanji. You don’t have to eat what I eat.”
His soft eyes made you tense up, reaching up to massage your cheeks.
“There’s nothing wrong with what you have to eat, Y/N. At least I hope not. Will you calm this poor chef’s nerves, and let me know how it tastes?
Swallowing your self pity, you reached for the spoon.
Probably the only utensil I’ll ever be able to use now.
Your hand spasmed around the metal slightly, and you felt Sanji’s eyes on your every move.
“Sanji, can you please not stare at me while I eat?”
“Oh, um. Of course, sweetheart, sorry.”
He turned his face down to his own bowl, and you steeled yourself.
It smells so good.
You filled your spoon, not taking too much, but making sure to have a piece of meat and carrot.
Very small pieces.
The meat was so tender, the flavors overwhelming you.
It had been so difficult to enjoy food, but Sanji’s cooking was bringing your love back.
But that almost made it worse sometimes.
Even with how small the bites of meat and vegetables were, how wonderfully tender, it was still enough chewing to make you sore. You knew if you ate the whole bowl, you would be hurting. It had been a bad week.
“It’s delicious, Sanji. Thank you so much.”
You couldn’t keep your voice from cracking, and his brows tensed as he set down his spoon.
“Is it too much, darling?”
You sat back, heat building in your throat as you started massaging your jaw.
“I don’t want to eat puréed food for the rest of my life.
It was such a dumb sentence. It sounded pathetic. But the weight of it fell down on you, crushing your joy.
Sanji reached out, your skin tingling as his hand touched yours, pulling it away from your face to hold it. He squeezed it gently, and his soft skin was soothing, even through your frustration.
“I know what it is to be hungry, Y/N. I won’t let you suffer like this. No matter what it takes, I will find food that nourishes and satisfies you. Please let me help you.”
Hot tears welled in your eyes, and you swallowed, trying to push them down.
“What else can I do?”
Looking away from his pleading eyes, you stared into your bowl of stew, the small pieces taunting you.
Your hands reached up to rub at the sore muscles again.
“Does massaging your jaw help with the pain? I could… Would you feel comfortable letting me touch your face?”
Breath catching, you felt tingles go over your skin.
Is he just trying to touch me? Does he really care, or is this just him…
The thought felt sour as you looked at his earnest face. Sanji was always flirting with you, but he flirts with all the girls, with every woman he meets. You didn’t think he was serious about being interested in you, so you had tried not to think about him that way. You weren’t always successful.
But he was also one of the kindest people you’d ever met. You set your hesitation aside, and took the cook’s offer.
Sanji came around the table now, facing you as he sat in the chair beside you. Your breath was still too light, and you started pinching your fingers in your lap, fidgeting as he moved close to you.
A small gasp escaped you as his warm fingers touched your cheeks. His skin was so amazingly soft, and your eyes fluttered shut as he started to lightly press in circles along your jaw.
“Does this feel alright?”
You nodded with a small sigh, then guided his fingers with yours, showing him what you needed.
It felt so much better with his touch than your own, and you let yourself relax into it for a few minutes.
Sanji kept going as he cleared his throat softly, bringing your attention to his face.
“What are other things we can do to help you, love?”
You had to breathe, bringing yourself back to the moment.
“Uh, sometimes icing it can help on bad days. There are exercises too, but it’s hard to remember until it gets bad. Then I can’t do them because it hurts too much.”
“Is there an exercise that isn’t as painful,” Sanji asked, his voice just as soothing as his fingers.
It took you another minute to respond as you melted under his touch.
“Yeah, um. I just always forget. It’s not really an exercise. I need to focus on my posture.”
“You have lovely posture.”
“Thank you,” you said with a laugh, not surprised that he would have noticed that about you. “I know I do. I’ve worked hard on it to help reduce the pain. Seems like it’s really paid off.”
Sanji gave a small frown at the light tone you tried to use with your sarcasm.
“What else, gorgeous?”
His soft hands cupping your face while he used that word made you feel dizzy. How can he make me feel like that with just his voice?
You didn’t want him to stop massaging you, but you moved his hands away.
“Just this.”
Sanji’s gaze was drawn to your lips as they parted, and he stared for a moment before meeting your eyes again.
“I’m sorry, dear. What is the next exercise?”
“Not an exercise. More posture. I’m supposed to stay like this as often as I can remember.”
He stared at your lips again as you gestured to them.
“My tongue is meant to touch the top of my mouth, and my lips should be slightly parted, as often as I can remember,” you explained, your voice trembling more with each word.
“I hate it, how am I supposed to remember to do it? And if I do, I just have to live with my mouth open all the time? And what if it doesn’t help? Nothing ever helps-”
Sanji cupped your face again, making you gulp as stinging tears finally started falling.
He brushed them away with his thumbs, and you felt your lips quivering as his face got closer. His eyes were pouring over your features, and it made you shiver.
“San-”
“You don’t have to carry this alone anymore, Y/N. I’ll help you, whatever you need.”
Your eyes clenched shut, sending a wave of tears down as you tried not to sob. All the pain, all the frustration was wearing you down.
It seemed so trivial. But not being able to eat Sanji’s amazing food, losing your appetite when you thought of what you could eat, watching the crew laugh together over their meals, it made it all harder.
You had stopped eating with the crew for a while now, with Sanji joining you after meals. But you felt sick with guilt when you couldn’t finish the food he’d worked so hard on for you.
“May I hug you, ma belle?”
Nodding, you let him pull you into his arms. You wanted to stop, to push this aside. It’s not that big of a deal, get over it.
The biting thoughts that plagued you were finally ignored as you breathed in Sanji’s comforting scent. As you let yourself weep, you sobbed onto his shoulder while he drew comforting shapes along your back.
He let you cry, and you realized that you were grieving. All the pain you’d bottled up was grief. Grief for all the things you couldn’t do, couldn’t enjoy because your body wouldn’t let you. The pain you ignored everyday until it became so sharp that you couldn’t ignore it.
The days when you had to stop yourself from laughing with your crew because it hurt too much to open your mouth.
Feeling it all washing over you, you clung to him, gripping his dress shirt in your fingers.
Your sobs were loud and painful, but you couldn’t stop them if you tried. You had never let yourself feel all of this, all at once. It was like a dam had been breached, and Sanji was holding you, anchoring you so you wouldn’t be swept away.
“I’m so sorry you have to carry this, darling. You shouldn't have to.”
He stroked your hair as his soft words started coming through your sobs. Your breathing began to slow, and you felt strange, not quite here. Still hurting, but relieved.
Sitting back, his hands seemed reluctant to let you slip away.
You were grateful that he wasn’t smiling. His brows were tensed slightly, and he tilted his head in soft concern.
“Please come to me with this, Y/N. You don’t need to suffer in silence anymore. I won’t allow it.”
You gave a choked laugh as the corner of his mouth twitched up, and you were surprised that you were ready for the smile so soon.
“Thank you so much, Sanji.”
You gripped his hands, squeezing his fingers as your breathing kept slowing down. He took one hand away to touch your chin gently.
“Anytime, my love. I’m going to whip you up something delicious, alright?”
Nodding, your skin was still tingling as his thumb traced along your jaw.
“I’m going to be your reminder from now on, is that okay?”
It took you a second to understand, but you remembered your exercises.
“Yes, thank you.”
“Perfect. Now while I cook, I want you to hold your tongue at the roof of your mouth, and let your lips be slightly parted.”
You smiled at him before you obeyed, and then you watched his eyes seem to burn as they watched your lips part.
Your breath hitched as Sanji’s thumb traced over your lower lip, delicious heat running through your body at his gentle touch.
“I’ll help you remember now, ma chérie. Your lips look too beautiful like this for me to forget.”
