In lieu of Free Day Friday (didn't have time this week 😭) I offer a very silly comic I drew

Premise: in Jak 3, is Damas's "death scene", it's fairly obvious that just his legs are pinned because 2003 software constraints I guess. Brain said "what if they'd brought him into Jak X without retconning the end of Jak 3 at all?" And this is what resulted

GT Blitz on pre-recorded video: "This is it, folks! The holy grail of tracks: the Arena of Death!"

Keira: "I'm sorry, Jak. I know it must be hard, being back in Spargus after losing your father."

(Her speech bubble is only partially visible because Jak is distracted when the footage switches to live)

Sig and approaching Wastelanders: "Hey! Let me see that camera for a sec."

GT Blitz: "We'll be right back folks-"

Sig (pulling camera lens towards him): "Jak, you better have a really good reason for running of to Kras now, of all times!"

Sig on the tv: "Don't run, kid. He's already there."

Headcanon that Annabeth takes a long time sometimes hours to fall asleep and wakes up very easily due to being ready for combat 24/7 and Percy falls asleep right away and has nightmares almost every night(some he doesn’t remember) so he startles awake every morning

#the Annabeth taking forever to fall asleep might just be because I do that #I envy people who fall asleep in less than 30 minutes #Percy has a decent sleep if he can’t remember his dream #but he has a great sleep if it’s a good dream like that leaves him giddy the whole day #Annabeth wakes up with severe eye bags if she has to wake up earlier than usual because she already took long to fall asleep #and yeah she has nightmares and they wake her up #but she just kind of sighs and knows she’s not getting any more sleep that night #whereas Percy falls asleep right after again and probably into another nightmare #that was a long rant #percabeth #annabeth chase #percy jackson #pjo #heros of olympus #mark of athena #percabeth sleeping habits #I just know if they’re sleeping together and one has a nightmare of the other dying they’ll stay up listening to their pulse #traumatized percabeth #demigod nightmares

my hot take as a person with an english degree and a library degree is that some of the dorkiest fiction and poetry ever committed to paper in the english language came out of the iowa writer's workshop so it is at best goofy and at worst completely futile to argue that your average amazon unlimited writer is having a more deleterious effect on literacy and literature.

#like i know these guys and they are NOT better than booktokers bc they have an mfa in fiction or poetry #in fact. (further hot take) i'd argue many of them are orders of magnitude worse bc they take themselves and their ✨ craft ✨ so seriously #that their work is completely devoid of any authentic human emotion and is merely detached irony trying to mask as social commentary #but the booktok girlies know what they're doing. they're aware! and they're having a great time doing it! they're having fun!#and i have read unfortunately MANY works by mfas that are just like. where is the joy in this? the fear? the sorrow? the honesty???#like yeah booktok is not my thing and it can be pretty silly but most of them aware of the genre they're in and they're having a blast #i've read poetry and fiction by mfas that are grasping so hard to make a Point that they just completely lack genuine and honest emotion #and you can tell the writer just like. did not feel anything urgent or vital about the work they were creating #anyway. follow for more hot takes on the literary establishment #books books books #saying all that i know there is a whole ecosystem of amazon unlimited and booktok writers who are in it strictly for the money #and maybe feel nothing about what they're writing. but they ARE aware of the genre they're in #and to really make it work in amazon unlimited you DO have to have your finger on the pulse of craft wrt genre fiction #whereas i one time in college hateread all of a quote unquote literary writer's works and it was just like #oh you have NO idea that you're just writing complete nonsense #you think you're making a point and have social commentary and every single book is just. incredibly silly #and you would have had a much better and more interesting time if you allowed yourself to write romance novels instead!!

[what’s it like getting back at six am? i mean, is it like — a day or two, or how do you adjust to that?] i mean, for me, i think it’s … um, i know i can kind of get through it a little easier, i know some guys, you know, have kids and some other responsibilities where they don’t have the luxury of being able to sleep all day, but, um … yeah, i mean, i had — i was able to sleep in as long as i wanted and get as much sleep as i needed, which, um … you know, i think helps a lot for sure. um, obviously, it’s not easy though. uh — so definitely kinda took a little bit, but, yeah, i mean, for me it’s pretty easy just to — i mean, sleep ‘til i don’t need to anymore. [so how long was that? what time d’you get up then?] um … i think it was around one or so? when i got up? it wasn’t — it wasn’t too bad. you know, obviously you wanna try to sleep at night too. um … so, yeah, i think it worked out, you know, worked out pretty well.
