because, my idea is that...

they didn't tell her.

as zoltan chivay put it... ‘It just seemed to happen.’

now, this is the analysis which must precede the creative writing, to explain my idea properly :) maybe consider this post a "part one."

because, for clarity, the timeline of events is as follows:

in tower of the swallow, geralt's company arrives in riedbrune seven days before the equinox (a day before the seventeenth of september).

geralt is summoned to speak with fulko artevelde and obtains angoulême on the day of the equinox (the same day he has the feeling that ciri has died... symbolism, wow)

but that night of the equinox is when geralt and cahir suddenly fall upon each other with blows... resulting in following silence and awkwardness between the company...

not speaking much until it came time for them to part and split up two nights later, upon the sunrise: geralt, cahir, and angoulême for belhaven, milva, dandelion, and regis for toussaint.

owing to this heaviness that hung over the company after geralt and cahir’s fight, in the two days preceding geralt’s apology…

no one’s mind was on angoulême anymore. the focus had been shifted from the introduction of a new member, to suddenly, to the very future of the company itself.

and this worry about the future has been looming in front of them for quite a while. chapter five begins like this, after all:

The Amell Mountains. And rising even above the saw-toothed Amell was the forbiddingly majestic obelisk of Mount Gorgon, Devil Mountain, as angular as the blade of a misericorde. They did not talk about it, didn’t discuss it, but Geralt felt what everybody was thinking. For when he looked at the Amell range and Gorgon, the thought of continuing the journey southwards seemed sheer insanity.

even a night before their parting, this symbolism of gorgon as the company-breaker continues:

Gorgon loomed up on the horizon. Ever closer.

in other words, they had bigger fish to fry (or cormorants to strangle) than to concern themselves with angoulême. she was initiated into the company at the worst time…

and also in a poor way—may i remind that to bring her with them was solely geralt's decision. dandelion questions his bringing her with them, and she manages to sink her claws of annoyance into regis and milva already by the end of the chapter.

‘Correct me if I’m wrong,’ he said. ‘But that girl, Angoulême, whom you have so cheerfully and carelessly added to our company, is a criminal.’

i don’t think anybody expected to keep angoulême with them, because even the author himself didn't—angoulême stuck around longer than intended, because sapkowski turned out to like the character more than he had initially anticipated:

Question: In an interview with Stanisław Bereś, you noted that there are characters who seem to stick to the author, and that's why they play a bigger role than that was originally planned. Can you give examples from the Witcher saga - were there such characters, and if so, what roles did they have originally? AS: Definitely, Angoulême, Dijkstra, Joanna "Kenna" Selbourne, Boreas Mun, Ori Reuven. 

in this context of chapter five and six, angoulême was solely there because geralt took sympathy upon her for she resembled ciri, and they needed her guidance amongst the local area, which she was happy to give them in reciprocity for being rescued:

‘To make matters worse, one who knows neither Nightingale, nor anyone in Belhaven or the surroundings, neither foes, friends, nor allies. Who knows not the roads leading to the town–and there are various. I say: the Witcher won’t cope. I don’t know what customs prevail among you, but I won’t leave the Witcher alone.’

the relationship was, at this moment in time, quid-quo-pro... which comes to a head in chapter six when angoulême offers herself to geralt, to his disgust. it's only after his genuine refusal of her, her running back to the rest of the company to inform them that geralt and cahir are in... dire straits, and even as far as them staying in beauclair that she becomes fully integrated with the company. which makes sense: to be a "brother in arms," you have to first pass through fire...

so, we have it, two days that angoulême is with the company, two days until they part.

during which parting, regis grants explanation alongside geralt as to how schirrú had the information to give nightingale's hanza (which at the time included angoulême), about the members of geralt's company and where they were travelling.

‘Where we are, what we’re planning, what route we’re taking and whither we’re heading… all was uncovered with the help of scanning, detecting magic. It’s none too difficult for a mistress of magic to remotely detect and observe a person who was once well-known and close, with whom they had a long-term psychic contact which permits the creation of a matrix. But the sorcerer and sorceress of whom I speak made a mistake. They’ve revealed themselves. They made an error when counting the members of the company, and that error betrayed them. Tell them, Regis.’

but two days... and a girl who, they're thinking, they'll drop off soon enough... moreover, a somewhat annoying girl who's already antagonized their members, who's a criminal and before this was working with their enemies, who's only with them by the concidence of her betrayal... it is her untrustworthiness which brought them together.

logic would have it that they shouldn't trust her with any sensitive information, because it's that very sensitive information of their enemies that she's currently divulging to them - if they are to split up eventually, what's to stop her from using whatever they tell her against them?

that is all to say...

there was no reason for them to tell angoulême about regis.

before he says it himself. regardless of her presence. naturally.

‘Geralt may be right,’ Regis said slowly. ‘Like every vampire, I’m invisible to magical visual probing and scanning; that is, to a detecting spell. A vampire may be tracked using an analytical spell, from close up, but it is not possible to detect a vampire with a remote, scanning spell. The detection will report that there’s no one there. Thus only a sorcerer could be mistaken regarding us: to register four people, where there were actually five; that is, four people and one vampire.’

the scene continues and finishes swiftly. geralt incites them to take revenge for ciri's "death". and they set out to part.

‘So let us begin and may the Devil assist us! Cahir, Angoulême, to horse. We ride up the Nevi, towards Belhaven. Dandelion, Milva, Regis, make for Sansretour, towards Toussaint’s borders. You won’t get lost, Gorgon will point the way. Goodbye.’

we're left with a dramatic conclusion that ends with ciri stroking the tomcat in vysogota's hut. ciri watches them from a dream: geralt, cahir, and angouleme setting out...

but what i imagine is that, before they part, directly after that ‘May the devil assist us! ... Goodbye.’

we just cut the tension with angoulême raising a hand and going "hey, yeah, just one question... what the fuck?".

and everyone realizing they didn't explain anything to her. because they forgot about her. because she's naturally forgettable.

What do you look for in a rp partner?

Chemistry, above all. Writing chemistry is an absolute must, and someone who is willing to actually give me something to respond with. OOC interaction is important as well, but I understand that we're all busy, we're adults, and I absolutely don't expect everyone to chat ooc with each other (especially because I'm a massive culprit here as I'm antisocial af). It's a MAJOR added bonus if we have OOC chemistry as well as writing chemistry, but we don't HAVE to have OOC chemistry to have good writing chemistry either. I have written with people before and we hardly spoke OOC and we just chatted OOC in the tags and shit to get a feel, etc, and there's nothing wrong with that, but it absolutely does help to have OOC interaction and feel like there is a common interest amongst Rp partners. But yes, writing chemistry is an absolute must for me.

Favourite trope?

Oh man, so many... I'm a slut for so many tropes, lol. But my favourite is probably slow burn shipping, getting to know each other and pining and falling in love. I also love frenemies, enemies to lovers, grumpy and happy getting tossed together, and chaotic gremlins causing mischief. I'm also a big sucker for ANGST. Honestly, just give me something to work with and I'm happy, lol. I want to explore all the things with the muses and cause my muses to have reactions.

Who is an author that inspires you?

I think every media that I take in inspires me one way or another. A lot of my inspiration is simply from every day things, common things that humans do, whether that is good or bad. I get inspiration from my favourite movies, music is a LOT of my inspiration, you guys are also a lot of my muse and inspiration. I take it from where I can get it, and that's everywhere. :)

What is the muse that you write for the longest?

Rp wise, it would be my Inquisitor, Kaaras Adaar (from Dragon Age). I think I wrote him for a good... 7-8 years? I mean, I still WILL write him and his blog is still up, I've just not been very DA inspired as of late, tho I do imagine with the new game coming out, I'll likely get back to his blog eventually <3

As for non RP writing, Megatron has been my longest muse, from Transformers. I have a whole long fic series about him, his past, his post war life, lol. It's a wild ride X'D

Do you tell your friends / family that you write?

Yes and no? lol. I'm shy and awkward. There are some people that know I write, there are people who knew I USED to write (don't know I still do), and there are people that don't know I write at all. Most of my family and RL friends don't know I actively write, let alone write fanfiction and RP lol.

Do you ever get jealous when rping? How do you handle this?

I have in the past, yes, and I think that we all have days when we feel a little jealous or down. I've suffered through some very bad depression in my past, and that was a very unhappy time for me, with skewed visions that the depression no doubt made me think. Thankfully, I have been doing a lot better in the last few years. I still have my moments where I do feel like maybe I'm not as good as my RP partners or entertaining, lord knows I'm no way near as chatty as some of you guys lol, and that's okay. I've come to terms with it over the years. That's just the person I am, and there's nothing wrong with that. I know it's just the negative vibes talking and being stupid. When this happens, it's best to just step away from the PC and go enjoy something else. Come back when you feel better and it's all good. Remember, RP is a hobby, and you should enjoy it, it shouldn't make you feel bad. Thankfully, I'm pretty good at recognising when this happens if it does, and I'm able to handle it maturely.

Do you ship someone’s muses on your dash?

Most of the ships I wholeheartedly support, lol. In particular, I love Alaara x Gale (but also Alaara simply oogling her entire camp) @chaoticbard . Seeing Alaara on my dash just brings me joy, she's just such an amusing character. Cassian and Ras are also another couple that I love seeing on my dash, big beefy boys @ode-of-odr , @crimesought (also Sornin and Cassian ofc <33 ), Literally Minthara and anyone because @spiderwarden just writes her SOOOO WELL!!! Also ofc I'm entirely bias when it comes to Haarlep x Raphael. (:

Do you have developed dynamics with the OC of another mun that has influenced your OC or Canon muse?

Oh absolutely! Check out Alaara and Haarlep, and how they have both moved forward (especially Haarlep lol). I absolutely adore their dynamic, and then because of that interaction, I have been able to harass Astarion @apalestar (and in turn, Astarion makes Haarlep's ears bleed), and it's just so damn funny and fun. I have chaotic gremlin energy with @silvertiefling and Haarlep, which I love so damn much as well, as Haarlep still tries to fuck her constantly lol (ofc he does tho...). But I think each and every one of you that I write with gives Haarlep a unique dynamic. I think that that's what I love about writing him so much, tho, is that he's willing to be decent enough to interact with good aligned muses, and chaotic and evil enough to play with evil muses. He's REALLY flexible, and I love that.

Ummmm, I think I pretty much splurge them all out whenever they come to me, LOL. Haarlep is an open book X'D You know my secret one which I will keep between us and Haarlep's potential blood :'D

I'm kinda curious about what their arguments were cuz... The other anons couldn't be more elaborate on how much bull the whole "who said Nightcrawler wasn't having fun" take could be.

If I can give my opinion on this one : It was more than possible for Spurrier to make Nightcrawler have fun without turning him into whoever he was in USM. He could have been the ray of fun within X-Men by joining Kitty's team and only after sometime with them could he have regained his hope and been that beacon for them as he "found himself" again. Nightcrawler would have not only had some fun going on missions with his old friends but he would have helped progressing the plot.

Nobody wanted to write Nightcrawler during Krakoa tho so Spurrier was stuck with him until the end which is how we got Uncanny Spider-Man in FoX. Which is why none of the characters in that book outside of Legion (David Haller fan anon 😉 we ain't forgetting you) got any kind of proper portrayal as Legion is Spurrier's fave and often his mouthpiece. Hell Legion was the only character getting any proper portrayal in the Nightcrawler centric books in general. Spurrier shoehorned him on every turn in those books because he had an easier time writing a character he knew than one he was completely foreign to when the latter was the main... Even tho the only media I've seen where Nightcrawler and Legion interacted with each other was in a few fanfictions from 10+ years ago by the same author in AUs.

Spurrier sucks as a writer, he sucks even more as a Nightcrawler writer. It's thanks to him that I dread looking up anything about the character nowadays from Marvel.

Like, I'm on Tumblr and I saw 0 people talking about Kurt X Sable. No fanart or fanfic. Which considering there is people who love Kurt banging hot babes is pretty telling. There nothing to defend in this comic or comics.

What happened to Ruth? Bc look people can ship whatever, but Legion used to like Ruth - feelings change yes- but from the panels I saw it feel as if she doesn't exist.

"mun, you want David to mention her every 5 minutes" no, that would be weird. But I never saw her ...it's like she is gone. Again, Ruth doesn't need to be mentioned every second in his lines but ...I just find odd. It's like the writers really forget she existed. (I may be wrong and biased as I think Kurt is the worst in canon)

Guys, what if Spurrier hated Kurt and did all this to sabotage him? It wouldn't be the first time a writer isn't professional.

PRIDE FEST - JUNE 21

The Pride Fest Parade kicks off at 10am with Blackstone Ridge's own Beck Tatum leading the charge with his trusty steeds decked out in the brightest rainbow swag! Parade walkers and float participants are encouraged to bring candy to pass out to the kiddos along the way, so don't forget to bring those reusable bags.

After the parade, take a stroll around the Courthouse Square to visit the booths hosted by local business, like Basin Bouquets and All Strings Attached. Tatum Dairy and McGee's Malt Shop will have a combined booth passing out that Rainbow Crush in case you haven't gotten your fix of it yet.

When did you first start writing? 2008. I was on Mibba (writing site) and someone's journal post was an advert for a Proboards Potter forum.

In what language did you start writing? English. It was only like 2019 that I started trying to learn another language och jag är så dålig på talar svenska x.x (and I'm so bad at talking Swedish)

If your mother tongue is not the language you write now, what caused you to switch languages? N/A - one day I'll get good enough at Swedish to RP in it but that ain't today.

What was the first muse that you’ve written? Her name was Judy Lewis on that Proboards site in 2008. I also wrote her twin brother (Jesse Lewis). She was a Slytherin half-blood, he was a Hufflepuff half-blood.

I once answered an ask about her on the Bringer's blog so here's the link.

Do you still write your first muse? Nope. I consider remaking her sometimes--especially when memes ask about first muses--but I think she belongs in 2008 and in the fanfic I was writing at the time.

What is the muse that you write for the longest? This is answered here. The answer is Bam (first made 2009 on a Potter site I made); 2009 Gerard Way had that vibe and then they dyed their hair red and Danger Days came out and I was like 👀👀👀

Also because of Bam, and me being so specific when it came to making graphics (avatars and signatures), I can tell you which year a Gerard Way picture came from between the years of 2003 and 2013 based entirely on their hair.

I used to think I was neurotypical btw. Teenage me making a Notepad document of Gerard Way GIFs organised by hair style and year ('long black, 2005') like, 'yeah, this is a normal level of interest in a subject.' It is not, but it is a fun fact I get to whip out now.

In what style did you start to write (First person, third person, *-style or novel-style?) I have always written in third person, past tense, I guess novel-style? Used to do a lot of one-liners but--and I actually mentioned this to someone the other day--I ended up on a lot of sites with minimum word counts (usually only like 100 words, which sounds like a lot but is surprisingly small).

My longest post pre-Tumblr was like 2k words because me and a thread partner were just seeing how long we could make our posts in that specific thread. We also tried to go back to one-liners only for a thread (for fun) and we were struggling.

What caused you to start writing? What was your key point? General writing was probably this one book series about a man who lived with a family that made clay dragon statues and the dragon statues came to life. I looked it up; The Last Dragon Chronicles. I did not read all of them.

RP specifically was the site advert coming when I had like just started writing a Potter fanfic of Goblet of Fire from the point of view of Random OC (Judy Lewis, who was a Gryffindor in the fic).

Do you regret starting writing? No. It taught me how to spell, for starters. I was dogshit at spelling and grammar back in the day and I've gotten so much better just through practice and actually learning what things are used for. Also like... you get the best reactions. Even if I ever managed to quit RP--which I don't think I will--I would never be able to fully stop writing because of those reactions. One way or another, I will inflict fictional suffering on people.

As a kid, I wanted to be an author. Making characters and worlds is way too fun.

Is there anything you would have changed when you started writing now that you have more experience? RP specific; no. Writing in general; I'd have started writing proper English from the beginning and not spent years deciding that full stops are only used for the end of a paragraph, actually.

Also some of the older characters don't have their apps saved at all and I'm still mad about it. I struggled making Arnulf because his old app and all his old information is gone. I'm gonna die mad at past me about like 17 different things and it's fine because they deserve it.

How do you describe writing / rp to others? Generally I don't, but if I had to, I would describe it as 'y'know writing a story? It's like that but you only control one character.' It's not accurate--NPCs exist--but like it's the closest I can get considering I'm genuinely trash at describing anything lmao

On what platform did you start to write? Accidentally answered this in the first answer. Oops. Proboards. I actually refused to go to other forum sites for the longest time because I didn't understand the coding for posts. On Proboards it was like [b]bold[/b], on InvisionFree it was <b>bold</b>, I think Jcink was [b]bold[/b]?

I did eventually also go on InvisionFree (one site, a Buffy/The Vampire Diaries crossover site) and Jcink (multiple sites, mostly Marvel/DC crossover sites, a couple of panfandom sites, a town site?, and at least one Potter site). Jcink might be my favourite of the three.

There was also 'Boards' which was to Proboards what Jcink was to InvisionFree (Jcink sites have 'powered by InvisionFree' at the bottom, Boards sites had 'powered by Proboards').

📝 The Author: I started going to therapy a couple months ago because I felt like my anxiety was really getting out of control, especially when it came to feeling like... I was just doing everything wrong. Like no matter what I do, I just can't measure up, or that there is something wrong or off-putting about me or something people don't like about me or something gross or bad about me that I don't know about and nobody is telling me, because my entire life I have had people treat me a certain way, and I've never known why, so I thought talking to a therapist might help me find some answers. I really didn't know if I was just surrounding myself with the wrong people, or if there really was something wrong with my personality or the way I am that makes people dislike me and I was really hurting for it, so off I went to therapy.

Well, long story short, I've learned that my best friend, who was my friend all through my childhood and well throughout my 20's, was abusive towards me, so I was traumatized from that. I never learned how to set and maintain proper boundaries with people because of that, because she was constantly trampling all over them, and any time I tried to stand up for myself, she'd knock me down, make things about herself, make herself the victim, shame me, bully me, and just... make me feel like trash. I had no other friends, and at home, my brothers got all the attention, so getting any attention from my friend was like... I don't know, it's hard to explain, but I saw her as my friend so I took whatever she had to give me and I saw it as friendship. I didn't realize I was being abused. I had a number of friendships be like this over the course of my life, I've always let people trample all over me and my boundaries, and nobody ever stood up for me, I just let it happen.

Therapy has helped me see this, and even helped me see how my own family has failed me. My own family has been misogynistic against me, held my brothers in higher esteem than me over the years, I finally had the courage to cut them off after the US election, and I'm starting to feel better. Therapy has helped me learn to stand up for myself and reinforce my boundaries and teach others how I deserve to be treated. I'm learning not to tolerate disrespect anymore.

🌙 Doomsday: This year I realized...... that people really are full of shit and I don't need those people in my life. The real ones are the ones who actually see me. My sister died and none of her friends noticed. That... really fucked me up, you know? That really made me realize how to recognize a real friend from... everyone else. So. Yeah. I know who my real friends are. Everyone else can fuck off.

My Sidney is from Virbank, Unova, hence the heavy New Jersey accent (which is fun to write~) I got inspo for his accent from Here, Here (smoking tw), and Here. He's also Omnisexual and technically cis, but doesn't really give a fuck about gender other than that. I also basically channel a bit of Tulio and Miguel from Road to El Dorado. Random, but they're so fucking funny and dorky, yet try and act suave and mysterious. ANYWAY-

He comes off as very boisterous and can have an attitude, depending on who's talking to him, how and why. In reality, he's actually a nice guy, loyal friend, a total dork, and a sweetheart. He's not afraid to stand up for himself and others, and would probably fight someone if they were fucking with any of his loved ones. His battling style is very offensive, meaning he's all about attack and power over buffers and defense, and in away I think this also shows through his personality too.

When he was younger he was a "problem child", mostly because of his... shitty home life and parents, and got into trouble A LOT. Even slept a couple nights in jail as a teen. Much like Grimsley, he enjoys casinos and gambling, although he's not as "addicted" as his friend is. However, rather than card games (besides poker), he enjoys mostly dice and roulette games instead. He also enjoys playing pool at bars (usually against Glacia and Drake) but will also play with whoever wants to.

He's very supportive of young trainers, and will go out of his way to give them advice and give them battling tips. He sees himself in a lot of kids and teens, and is actually very patient and kind towards them, especially if he suspects they live a life similar to his own childhood.

With significant others, he always makes a point to make them feel loved, and is VERY physically affectionate towards them. He enjoys gift giving as a sign of love (romantic, platonic, familial, etc), and likes spending time with them as well. He enjoys flirting with his SOs or any interests, where he comes off as "suave" (either seriously or playfully) and likes to make the other laugh.

Also, much like my Piers muse, he also goes by a punk code, and is respectful towards others and stands up for minorities as well. Unlike Piers however, he can be a bit more aggressive towards authority figures and will fight back if he has to. Course, he doesn't physically fight others as much as he did as a kid, but he'll throw a punch if some asshole is in his face, threatening him. He's also known to be at protests and riots, and isn't afraid to give them his full support and help.

I won't go into detail, but It's disgusting at times and makes me so disappointed cuz there's so little with him to begin with).

Reflection I saw others doing it back when roleplay groups were huge on Facebook. I started getting into more intensive writing in middle school when my friend and I would start writing self insert fanfics and the likes, especially when we started getting real into character crafting.

Do you have any writing routines? Not at all! I write when the mood strikes me. Usually it's not hard to get into a mood when I started working on something.

What's your favorite part about writing? Getting to create something together with someone! Also the plots. It's like, getting to read a fanfiction that ticks off all the stuff you want in one. It gets me so jazzed up and scratches the best itch in the brain.

Three things you like about your writing:

I like writing dialog! It helps that Venti is very chatty (even if he talks a lot but says little yknow). A lot of other muses I've had were pretty silent, so I thought I might stumble with dialog, but it's not really that hard for me!

I like that it's apparently good enough to gain some roleplay partners who want to write with me, haha.

I like that it lets me meet people! I've met some great friends, and my wonderful boyfriend, because I write!

The most challenging writing I would say has to be on my previous main blog. I wrote Ryou Bakura, and he was a very quiet type. I had to work a lot with introspection, thoughts, and setting while writing him because I couldn't lean on dialog to keep the thread moving forward. I don't think there was one specific thread that was more difficult than the others, just that in general.

Anyway, it was great to learn and practice the "yes, and" of roleplaying. Responding to the previous reply being the yes, and then furthering it being the and, so that not one mun is solely moving the plot along.

My question for you: Is there a character from media you disliked that you then grow to really like because of a specific mun's portrayal?

Mun Headcanons

This is a cracky headcanon but I think Enmu may be neurodivergent in some way. This is based mostly off his behavior in kimetsu gakuen (train obsession, not understanding social norms, clear difficulty in making friends) as well as his almost theatrical mannerisms as seen in canon.

As someone with autism, I have emotions but my face doesn’t often reflect them. I taught myself to mimic facial expressions and body language. Since it was something I mimicked rather than happening naturally, it looks exaggerated and theatrical.

I could see something like this being part of why Enmu acts so dramatic and odd. I think that as a human he was able to mask using a superficially charismatic persona to win over the people he was trying to scam or anyone else it was important to remain on the good side of (his parents, authority figures, etc). However, I don’t think it was something he could keep up for long. At times the facade slips and he just comes off as strange, awkward, and zoned out most of the time.

He is someone who gives the impression of being heavily dissociative. The lack of pain when Muzan attacked him could be due to severe dissociation. Even when he’s dying he seems dissociative, talking about how he wants a chance to do everything over, in utter disbelief that he failed and hoping it’s all just a nightmare.

Dissociation is something often associated with traumatic events (which I get the sense he definitely experienced as a human). However it’s also pretty common with autism. Many autistic people dissociate frequently, usually as a result of feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated. Sometimes you just end up dissociating all the time, which I think is the case for him. I think it may also be a biproduct of the mental illness he canonically had as a human which resulted in him confusing dreams with reality.

Every so often another mun who followed me first will, bafflingly, write my VERY CLEARLY NONHUMAN MUSE a starter or meme response in which they respond as though they are human. I have my about page in the pinned post, I have a post begging people to read the basic muse information, and still, potential rp partners somehow get the idea, by not reading literally anything on my blog for the slightest iota of a moment, that my muse is human. How do I get this to stop happening??? 😭

Communicate.

There might be an uncertainty as to whether one can/should assume that your character's supernatural/paranormal traits are to be acknowledged/noticed by those around them. A lot of authors may consider assuming that such traits/nature being perceived as meta-gaming from the person who responds.

Approach the role play partner in question, talk to them and communicate your concerns/thoughts about the replies you actively receive. As productive as writing posts might be, always considering one to one communication on top of it. Never skip out on a simple message.

Weirdly specific character building questions

What’s the lie your character says most often?

Given that they're a grifter, their most frequent lie is very likely about who they are, aka their name, job, identity. The second most frequent one, when it does come up, is that they are a fully healthy human being and absolutely not a bizarre pseudo-zombie with half a foot in a flowery grave. This tends to be more of a lie by omission, though.

3. How often do they show their genuine emotions to others versus just the audience knowing?

Quite frequently. Their most masked emotion is that of an enraged kindergardner wanting to pluck every individual leg out of a spider for walking across their lunch. This does not get them far in life, so Nat tends to smile threateningly instead and tries to keep their cool.

5. Can they cry on command? If so, what do they think about to make it happen?

Oh, you bet they can, and you bet that they make use of it. Nat is an actor, and life is their stage. They don't even need to think about anything specific, they just make it happen. Most frequent uses are winning arguments and getting away with murder by making the other party look guilty.

7. What would you (mun) yell in the middle of a crowd to find them? What would their best friend and/or romantic partner yell?

Something like "Oh no, I've dropped my handbag full of cash!"

Ron wouldn't yell. He'd call them on the phone and greet them with a "what's up, asshole, stop disappearing on me."

9. Do they give tough love or gentle love most often? Which do they prefer to receive?

Tough love. Definitely tough love. Them and Ron tussle frequently, anything from arm wrestling over noogies to just shoving each other around a bit. They have their soft moments, but Nat is usually at the receiving end of those. They like both equally, so long as they're getting attention of some kind.

11. If someone was impersonating them, what would friends / family ask or do to tell the difference?

Ron would disparage a classic author and wait for the rant about his lack of intelligence and about how he just totally doesn't get it. That, or use a loan word incorrectly.

13. When do they fake a smile? How often?

Frequently, see above - usually to cover up anger that won't get them what they want in a social situation. They also love to feel charming, and will attempt to wrap someone around their finger if Nat deems them interesting enough to talk to, which involves both fake and real smiles.

15. What’s the most obvious difference between their behavior at home, at work, at school, with friends, and when they’re alone?

Nat barely smiles when they're alone. They feel quite vulnerable in life and fuss frequently. At work, they slip into the role of the charmer, and when they're alone with the only friend they have left, that being Ron, they're pretty dramatic and let their base anger shine through more often.

17. What do they notice first in the mirror versus what most people first notice looking at them?

The first thing Nat always sees are their green eyes, which are also one of their favorite things about their appearance, closely followed by the up-tilt of their nose. Other people notice the length of their hair first, then their freckles, both of those being features that can be seen from further away.

19. What would they do if stuck in a room with the person they’ve been avoiding?

Immediately attempt to gain control over the situation through charming, verbal arm twisting, cold reading, and intimidation.

21. What common etiquette do they disagree with? Do they still follow it?

Nat disregards most rules of etiquette in their daily life, but likes to think of themself as someone who implicitly understands it and could show perfect manners, if they just wanted to. It's a status thing to them, which means that, when they think a certain rule is silly, they still see value in it as a social marker.

23. What do they feel guilty for that the other person(s) doesn’t / don’t even remember?

Guilt is for other people. Except when it's not - but that's a spoiler for Twin Suns. It isn't like Ron doesn't remember, though. He just hasn't found out yet.

25. What subject / topic do they know a lot about that’s completely useless to the direct plot?

Nat knows five different languages, can directly cite a vast array of historians and poets, and has perfect orthography. Zombie flowers give a damn about none of this. However, it does come up that they can speak Future American Sign Language when they meet a deaf woman on a train. For about two chapters.

27. What’s the worst gift they ever received? How did they respond?

Can I say their zombie flowers? I'm gonna say their zombie flowers. Nat responded by escaping the lab.

29. How do they respond when someone doesn’t believe them?

Disbelief. Indignation. Rage. All internally - externally, they just try to spin their story harder. If it's about something they actually care about, and/or if they're telling the truth, Nat is fast to cry.

31. When do they feel the most guilt? How do they respond to it?

Nat routinely screws people over without batting an eye about it. That's just part of surviving (and thriving) for them. Even when they kill, and even when that eats at their mind, they do their best to push it away. It's only when Ron comes into the crossfire that their conscience comes into play. Generally, they try to keep their wrongdoings towards him a secret.

33. How do they greet someone they dislike / hate?

Overly, overly friendly, and immediately zeroing in on some fault or some breaking point that they can dig their fingers into. If the someone has more status than them or is more dangerous than Nat, on the other hand, they get the hell out of dodge.

35. What is the smallest, morally questionable choice they’ve made?

Not many things in Nat's life are small or have small consequences. Shoplifting, probably?

37. What’s a secret they haven’t told serious romantic partners and don’t plan to tell?

Hahahaha. Spoileeeerrrsss.

39. Would they rather be invited to an event to feel included or be excluded from an event if they were not genuinely wanted there?

Invited, always, any time. Being invited to things means they can listen in on conversations, means they can pick out marks. In a closer friend group they're not allowed to screw over, Nat still wants to be invited, so they can loudly announce that they aren't coming. They hate being scorned.

41. What phrases, pronunciations, or mannerisms did they pick up from someone / somewhere else?

They get a lot of their phrasing from books. Ron has a very distinctive way of speaking that he shares with Téo, a mix between heavy cussing and internet slang, but Nat is largely immune, even though they hang around him all day.

What they don't know is that they share a lot of facial expressions with him.

43. What do they commonly misinterpret because of their own upbringing / environment / biases? How do they respond when realizing the misunderstanding?

Other people's intentions. Nat views the world as incredibly hostile, and quickly takes the victim position over very innocuous things. It's hard for them to see past this and right the wrong - generally, they just dig the hole deeper. An apology and a talking-it-out is like pulling teeth.

45. What’s something unimportant / frivolous that they hate passionately?

Sports. They don't see the point in working out for anything but combat. It's a pity, because they could probably burn off a lot of energy that currently goes into death and destruction.

47. Who have they forgotten about that remembers them very well?

The occasional victim of a scam, I'd say. The axe forgets but the tree remembers.

49. Would they eat something they find gross to be polite?

Does this get them bonus points with somebody who they stand to gain something from? Then yes. For pure politeness, absolutely not. Life is too short not to live well, and this includes eating good food.

51. What’s a phrase they say a lot?

Oh, don't worry. (Dripping with malice, followed by threats.)

53. Who would / do they believe without question?

Ron. He has their back unquestioningly. Unless it comes to a question of perception or understanding, because Nat is convinced that he's a little stupid. Especially when it serves their ego.

55. What’s something they’re expected to enjoy based on their hobbies / profession that they actually dislike / hate?

Nat might be into literature, but finds discussing it and listening to other people's opinions about it boring more often than not. The meaning is in the text already, and everyone except them is wrong anways. Get on with it already.

57. What’s a simple daily activity / motion that they mess up often?

While they're not quite as good at it as Ron, they're still trained in pickpocketing, so their dexterity is good. They also work out regularly and use their body, so Nat knows where their limbs start and end. So there isn't much that they really mess up in the sense of motions. They're a poor cook, and overspice and oversalt everything, but luckily for Ron, they mostly eat in fastfood chains or out of microwaves.

Nat also needs glasses and doesn't wear any out of bullheadedness, but being near sighted, this doesn't really impede them. They should probably not drive as much as they do, but they have yet to get them and Ron into a serious accident. (Do not do this at home.)

Law Land

AKA Trafalgar Law and the Hearts rule a country actually

Watch the above video. Now imagine it's Law waking up after months of being off his face high.

He wakes up with the worst hang over he's ever had to find himself in a bedroom that clearly belongs to royalty. His first assumption is that he's had sex with a prince or princess, which is bad enough, and then there is a knock on the door. A knock followed by a polite voice saying, "Good morning Dr President Trafalgar Law the Magnificent M.D. Are you ready to start your day?"

And with that Law realises something is so very wrong. He didn't sleep with royalty. He became royalty and it turns out a drugged up Trafalgar Law is actually a perfect leader. While leading this country in the Grandline he has advanced their medical sciences generations. He's made the schooling better. Crime is at a massive low and so is unemployment. People are genuinely happy to live here they adore him and his crew, who are the rest of Law's governing body. He has done wonderful things for these people and he hates it.

He's become the government! The thing he hates the most! So, during a festival the residence of the country now called Law Land have to celebrate their loving leader and liberator, Law and the Hearts slip away. Fleeing from this island and those responsibilities. But it seems like Law in his drugged up state anticipated this because the country can govern itself without him but his adoring public are waiting for his return.

Oh, and the way this all started? Law and the Hearts were partying in a bar by the docks. They were a bit wild but the locals hadn't had any fun for so long that they all got involved in the merriment. Unfortunately the authorities turned up, threw Law and his crew out and threatened violence if they didn't leave. The original ruler was a tyrant that banned alcohol and any sort of recreation or merriment. So, in his anger and with a drug addled mind Trafalgar Law decided to tell the government to go fuck itself, this country is his now.

Thus, began the saga of a high Surgeon of Death performing a coup and then running a country so well that the entire, mildly anarchist state still tells the World Government to fuck off whenever they try to bring it back into the WG fold.

Mun note: All Heart Pirate writers are encouraged to add to this headcanon and talk about how their Heart Pirate muses contributed to Law Land. Let them run a country and be good at it!

Vaggie, Mannerisms and PTSD

Fuck it, I'm gonna do the thing.

So, this is specific to my take on Vaggie but this will be integral to her reactions and the way she sees herself and the world.

First and foremost: as an exorcist, Vaggie was part of an army- a militaristic culture that has left a lasting impression on her. As such, Vaggie values the chain of command. During her time as an exorcist, she deferred to Lute and Adam, whether she liked them/their decisions or not because, at the time, she respected their authority. After falling, this extends to Charlie and, later, Lucifer and the others in the hotel.

As she stated in the show, "There is nothing stronger than the trust between comrades in arms!" Due to her militaristic lifestyle in Heaven, Vaggie learned how to trust through battle. The trust you gain in someone when you're on a battlefield, risking your lives for each other, is a completely different kind of bond. If she has fought beside someone and they defended one another, her trust in that person has been earned. In Hell, this begins to shift slightly towards the end of season 1 but not by much. Her trust is still hard to earn but she has a lot of respect for battle prowess and people who feel love and loyalty as deeply as she does.

Now then. Because of her militaristic background, her manner of speaking is blunt and honest, almost to a fault of being hurtful or rude. However, this does not mean that is how she intends her speech to be taken- it is just how her manner of speaking is. Likewise, she is unafraid to call out her superiors (or those that would be notably ranked higher than herself), even going so far as to swear at them to convey her message. If her respect is earned and the person is an authority figure, she's more likely to refer to them as "sir" or "ma'am."

Other than her manner of speech, notable habits that she has and persist even years later: she has a higher than average tolerance for physical discomfort, wakes up quickly and ready for action, very detail-oriented, knows how to clean and organize living space, can sew basic repairs (can fix buttons, minor tears, patches, etc), is aware of political structure and information on important enemy figures, has a low tolerance for laziness or slacking, refuses to ask people to do things that she herself will not do, likes having clear orders, following chain of command and fair penalties, works efficiently and quickly, is very self-reliant and has a fairly high tolerance for work stress.

Her fall, however, created a stark change in some of Vaggie's behaviors. While she's incredibly loyal when someone proves themselves to her, due to her status being stripped by Lute and Adam, her trust in others was shaken deeply and she developed PTSD.

Vaggie's PTSD is something I wish to characterize as I, as the mun, have PTSD associated with the military and it's something that I feel Vaggie would also deal with.

Now, concerning her PTSD: Vaggie suffers from night terrors, insomnia, flash backs and depression. Her night terrors often deal directly with her fall, either making her relive the experience or an altered version in which she was not left alive or Charlie never found her. These usually cause her to wake suddenly, either screaming or in tears. She hates talking about her night terrors and, if touched immediately after, will pull away and begin to panic. Charlie is the only one canonically who can calm her down from these (unless plotted otherwise). Vaggie's insomnia regularly keeps her up quite late and she doesn't sleep particularly long. Flash backs can be triggered but they're much more rare. She has scars on her back from where her wings were initially torn and they are quite sensitive. Rough hits to this area run the possibility of triggering a flash back, which would cause a panic attack. Panic attacks, flash backs and night terrors are all incredibly taxing both physically and emotionally and Vaggie is usually exhausted after any of these. It's not uncommon for her to have a migraine after any of these. Her depression causes a lot of issues like a deep-seated self-loathing, abandonment issues and trust issues.

Aggie (my take on a transmasc Vaggie) would also have these issues but also compounded with other issues that I'm probably gonna cover in a different post because this is long enough already.

Rotgut enjoys crossdressing! He's curious to experiment with his own gender sometimes, either that or he just wants to feel pretty in a different look. (It's one of those rare cases where he will shower and clean himself up NOT because he's expecting to get laid lol)

Rotgut has collected a good amount of objects and trinkets during his 800 years of life. From old coins that you'd find displayed in a museum today; to ancient books (diaries or bibles), jewelry and clothes.

Sometimes he will go on for so long being unclean (we're talking decades) that actual fungi will start to grow on his body/clothes, specifically stinkhorn mushrooms.

Three things your character likes doing in their free time:

Sex and reading porn aside (to the surprise of absolutely nobody) Gut enjoys watching soap operas and reading classic tragic romance books. (William Shakespeare would be his favourite author in this case)

Playing with marbles. Always brings a bag with him if he's going on a trip!!

Try new recipes while cooking. He likes to expand/improve his cuisine. Sometimes asks Cornelius for guidance or tips.

Two things your character regrets:

(During moments of self-awareness) he regrets the person he's become now. He knows his behaviour is unlikeable and indecent, because of this ofc most everyone around him hates him or is scared of him- which leads him to not being able to bring his kids out in public (or alternatively, he gives them a bad reputation when they become adults because of who they're related to) because he's scared they might get hurt as a result of people who hate him; he knows it's his fault for this outcome, but he hates everyone around him (that aren't his children) and just refuses to let go. He resents humanity for how much he has been pushed around, mocked and hurt physically in the past for just existing. He doesn't think anyone is worthy of recieving genuine kindness because deep down they're all just as disgusting as he is. This leads to ego and self-importance that makes him feel superior to others because he's not scared of showing just how revolting one can be + he's not human anymore + he's immortal + he can control/speak to hoards of cockroaches.

He also regrets having placed his distaste for humanity so high he's passed it down on his first generation of children. For the most part, this has caused a few of his children to distance themselves from him, like for example Judith and Kolvenik, which hurt him deeply. Kolvenik flat out blames his father and his hatred for humanity as to why he's developed his genetic disorder that has caused him to permanently shed off his human disguise as he got older (which is completely incorrect just to clarify; how Rotgut feels towards mankind has nothing to do with Kolvenik's genetic issue, he just hates and resents his father mostly as a form of projecting his own self-hatred living as a humanoid bug monster that can't have a human form).

Rotgut tries to better himself non-stop when it comes to raising his newest kids, because he wants to see them be happy and make friends and connections, be likeable and be liked by others regardless of what species they are, unlike him. This makes him a bit hypocritical since when he's on his own, he openly goes back to his old ways & antics- with his kids however he just kind of puts on a mask.

Athazagoraphobia -> fear of being forgotten by loved ones/forgetting someone important to him.
