1976 ad for Whizzer and Chips. Out Monday May 17! I used to think Whizzer and Chips were two different comics that had merged in the time honoured tradition. Not in this case though. It was called Whizzer and Chips from the first issue in 1969 with the twist being they were two 'rival' comics inside the same comic. Treasury of British Comics.

It will never not be funny to me that Chip Zien sang the lyrics "He's on his knees, I'm lying flat, just like a bad idea, he starts to blow" and didn't realise his character was supposed to be gay. Man just straight up didn't realise he was doing a sex scene. Legendary.

OG Falsettos casts Revival Falsettos in an old playbill article.
Well, one of them guessed right. It probably helped that Michael did two previous shows with Christian, during which Christian fangirled about Falsettos and Marvin. It is really cute that he did think of him.
Leslie did attend opening night and I think this is the first time I’ve heard from Jonathan since the original closed. It’s cool that he came back for this.

what’s the worst thing that’s happened to you in theatre? Worse fuck-up, or something. :)
Oh, that’s easy. When I was in my freshman year, I got cast as Columbus in a play about the founding of America (historically inaccurate, but I didn’t know that at the time). It was my first—and only—lead role, and I took it extremely seriously. I memorized the whole script in a week. My part, and, most of the rest of the crew’s parts as well. I practiced my lines every single day. I made myself stay up late every night to read it through again, again, and again, until the flashlight that I used wore out, and I didn’t have any extra batteries. And then I started using candles.
And then? Opening night. Packed auditorium. My big moment. And I COMPLETELY blanked. I just stood there like a twit, mouth agape. I just stared into the lights while the blurred, dark audience all waited in anticipation for me to say something. The silence seemed to drag on forever—someone coughed, my co-star tried to improvise, the audience started murmuring. I could feel my whole body shutting down. My eyes were getting hazy and the whole crowd looked like one homogeneous shadow.
Then, by some miracle, Ms. Goldberg—my theatre teacher—fed me the line from the wings. I repeated it. The scene moved on. Everything rushed back to me like a gust of aggressive air, suddenly filling my mind so completely that it was shocking.
No one really cared. Except me. I was humiliated. I wanted to disappear.
After the show, Ms. Goldberg found me in one of the more private back rooms backstage, and she told me she was proud of me anyway, that it happens to everyone, that I was still her star.
She held my face in her hands and told me that she had known since the moment she’d seen me. That I was different. That I wasn’t like other students, that I was hers. She said that she had never seen someone as special as me, never met someone who had needed her the way I did. And she was right. I did need her. I still do. I don’t think I’ll ever get on stage again, but that’s okay, because she still says I’m her special star to this day, no matter what.
Anyway. Good question.. Haha! Does anybody else have any horror stories?… please tell me that someone has messed up worse than me.
