the truly problematic thing about having insanely vivid dreams just about every night--and i mean the kind of vivid where you remember details days or even weeks later, like it's just another normal-ass memory--is that you wind up losing track on an emotional level of what's real. like. i know that was a dream. obviously it was a dream. but some part of my brain misses it like it really happened. i am painfully, achingly nostalgic for people i've never met, places i've never been, shit that literally could not ever happen--but i feel as though i remember. which is just the most unhinged thing, right? like, i remember going on a run that took me over a fence into Disneyland, and i remember having to take a shortcut through a Chinese restaurant, but it was fine, because Erika Ishii was there, and they'd done this before, so no worries. right? no! obviously not! why do i remember this with such visceral clarity three weeks later?

oh, what's your favorite episode of this TV show? the one i dreamt. yeah, don't worry about it, it didn't make coherent sense, but it was in the feelings, right? my ship had the best fucking scene. no, of course i can't explain it to you, that's madness. it involved a rocking chair. don't worry about it. it's fine. it's super important i don't accidentally reference this in a fic someday, though.

this shit is deranged, dude. missing people who are quite literally my own brain's invention with an actor's face. missing places that are a meld of a movie i saw once, my childhood bedroom, the second floor of my high school, and inter-dimensional space. like. no! no, this shouldn't be a thing! is, though. the clarity of it. just fucking bananas. this has been happening to me my whole goddamn life.

#dreams #the worst thing about being a writer who has had these wildly vivid dreams forever #is the CLEAR awareness that they do not follow story-logic. dream-logic is special and near-impossible to properly bottle #so like. i can't even use these not-memories #i can't write my 'new favorite episode' and share it with the class #i can't even tell my wife about the shit i fully remember seeing and doing while i sleep. because i didn't.#the other night i had such an insane flying dream that i woke up and told her 'for the record: i do dream in color.'#and she went 'of course you do.'#and i was like 'yeah of course i do but also this one was actively switching between color and black and white so. guess it's for suresies.#anyway i haven't had a dreamless night in...a really fuckin long time and it's nuts. false memories. everywhere.#it's astonishing i don't forget more real shit to make room #tell you what though. it does make warring against parasocial instincts WORSE. i am a mature adult who knows better.#but good goddamn my subconscious isn't helping

Trying so hard to not just fucking hate my comms class but my professor is making it real hard

#our first project is to record a personal story about a life changing moment in our life and then we will get assigned someone else’s story #to read and perform and that part is the bigger grade.#like bro. I have lists of life changing experiences. none of them are ones I want to tell a room of 18-20 year olds I’ve never spoken to #and then listen to them perform it back like it’s a scene from a play. what the fuck is thought process here. I’m gonna kill myself or #perhaps someone else. our prof was talking about how ppl always seem to drop her class early like maybe if this wasn’t your first assignment #and you didn’t have a graded participation check and or quizzes at the start of every class that you aren’t able to make up less ppl would #drop your fucking class. what is wrong with you. this is insane I mean neurodivergent #also my professor just kind of sucks. ya know how ppl say the bitchiest white women will go into teaching or nursing to feel like they have #power over ppl? it’s very that. she told us on the first day she makes people leave her class if they’re texting like bro. we are adults.#there are other things happening in our fucking lives.

And how gerrymandering is directly done around these segregated neighborhoods to disenfranchise voters, primarily black voters? Lol yea I mean like ive seen/been exposed to most of those things. I just haven't necessarily used them

Watched my grandparents make calls on the rotary phone. Liked to stim with the dial while watching TV in their room. But i wasn't really old enough to be making phone calls.

Didn't really use the computer much on my own until I was 7 or 8 and my mom had a laptop and I mostly just played educational games on CD-ROM before that so while I'd seen floppy disks we weren't really using them in my house

Im not sure id seen a vinyl record in person til I was maybe 10. I knew what they were from movies and stuff but nobody I spent any amount of time with had any (tho apparently my moms cousin who's only about 10 years older than me collects them but I never really went to his house so I didn't know that til a few years ago lol)

Ive listened to cassette. My grandparents had a radio in their home office that played cassettes and I used to listen to Rudolph the red nosed reindeer on repeat for hours on it when I was little (and yet no one wondered if I may be autistic lol.) But ive never recorded anything on cassette.

I am very glad we never had dial up in my house. My noise sensitive ass could not have handled that lol. I know what it sounds like. I know it made an awful noise. I would not have been a fan.

I dont know if I would have sent postcards even before 2000.....every time I've bought a postcard its because I wanted it for me lol. With the exception of the wooden one I got as a souvenir for my friend when I went to Colorado (tho I do wish id gotten one for myself)

My dictionary was a childrens dictionary i got at school. Dictionaries and encyclopedias just aren't something my family would have...we read a lot but those would just take up shelf space lol

Ive never personally paid with a paper check but I have received paper checks as payment at work and i know how to fill out a check.

#ive used a black and white video camera from the 80s/early 90s #it recorded onto tapes #my grandparents let me use it to play news anchor when i was a kid #i have a film camera #....i have TWO film cameras actually #i fucking love my minolta #i wish film was cheaper #i wanna have a dark room some day #i love using my film camera over my dslr #my first camera was an instant camera i got when i was 5 (the pictures were tiny stickers)#and i used to carry around those little disposable cameras long after they ran out of film to pretend to take pictures of things #when i was 3-4 #i used to type things out on the typewriter at my moms office when i was little #ive had to send faxes at work

a little over two years ago i was making a lot of money and had the genius idea to buy myself a little fridge to keep my brother from eating all my food (i was nineteen and a $200 dollar mini fridge was the coolest thing i could think of) but i rarely use it now because my parents make me hide all their alcohol there 😭

#there’s a big ass bottle of sparkling white wine and like fourteen mini bottles of sake and a pack of wine coolers #u know. light stuff !! thankfully #i lament all the storage space 😩#for the record they don’t drink at all bc of my brother but when he went away for his most recent rehab he was supposed to be gone for three #months and so my parents were like woohoo we can finally drink alcohol 🥂 but then he came back two months early and they had nowhere to put #any of it (in the past hiding things has never worked because he always finds it. he even cracked open my dad’s workbench and drank souvenir #tequila and other mementos from trips) SO. THEY TOOK ALL MY WATERS AND FOODSTUFFS AND PUT ALL OF THEIR BOOZE IN THERE #and now anytime they have nowhere else to put it it goes to me 🫠 girl maybe i just want to put milk in there damn #but anyways. it works because my brother would never step foot in my room bc we hate each other and i want him to die so 🥳 it’s working out #anyways.txt #alcohol ment.
