Wounded pride is a very dangerous thing. Whether you're a country or a politician.
A narrative of victimhood when you're actually in a position to do a lot of damage.

Infodump time or whatever, but I’m changing up Meallana’s reason for why she winds up marrying Neloth a bit. This is a long and unedited ramble, sorry in advance to the 5 of you who’re gonna read it <3
Anyway, before I decided to chalk their marriage up to just “idk political power, for an alliance” but that doesn’t really make much sense given the structure of Morrowind’s government, and the fact that Morrowind is full of Dunmer which the people of Skyrim hate. And the Dunmer wouldn’t give a fuck about Skyrim, naturally.
So, I’m thinking instead, she does it for a few other different reasons
The main reason being easy protection. After winning the war for the Stormcloaks, Skyrim is in a very weakened and vulnerable state -- something she regretfully admits is mostly her fault. Peace may be restored for the time being, but soon the Thalmor will make their moves on the country while it’s defenses are low, and she knows she’ll have a big target on her back if she stays in Skyrim and continues pledging her loyalty to Ulfric. She’s already eliminated Alduin, the Thalmor wouldn’t see much reason to keep her around. She may be the Dragonborn, but a lot of her strength comes from brute force and magical prowess. Sure, she can wipe out a few dozen Justiciars at once with her spells and shouts, but she lacks the tactical advantage of the Thalmor. She’s one person, save for her little entourage and allies spread across Skyrim. The Thalmor are a branch of military thousands of people strong. I don’t even need to explain how she has a disadvantage. She’s not invincible. So obviously she fucks off to Solstheim and marries Neloth.
“but Otty doesn’t Neloth make the Dragonborn a member of house Telvanni anyway?” yes other Otty, good point. However, I doubt that would automatically constitute for citizenship. Marriage would probably grant her easy quick citizenship to Morrowind, and since she has minimal self respect, she isn’t above putting a ring on it to get that. Being under Morrowind’s law, and a member of one of the most powerful houses no less, would probably keep her pretty safe and on the high ground above whoever’s running rampant in Skyrim. Dunmer and Altmer hate eachother, the Dominion and their cronies wouldn’t waste the energy going after her anywhere on Morrowind territory. As far as they’re concerned, she’s their problem now.
And so, another reason would be for personal power. Neloth is obviously insanely powerful and skilled, as are all Telvanni, and by joining his house she’s going to have a lot of power and knowledge at her disposal. Any mage would dream to get in on their weird voodoo mushroom magic and secrets. Her biggest problem will probably be other Telvanni and maybe some Morag Tong, but Neloth lives in the middle of nowhere, so it likely wouldn’t pose too much of a problem. He’s high-ranking, intelligent, and ambitious. She knows he isn’t going anywhere any time soon and has large potential for discovering some new stupidly overpowered magic and other-worldy secrets, so why not? He’d take up the opportunity as well to have leverage over other members of his house -- the LDB is “hero of legend” for a reason after all, even when hiding from the Aldmeri government, and he definitely recognizes that. Telvanni society is very dog-eat-dog, and having her married to him will ensure he keeps a position of power and intimidation over most other members of his house.
Also she just likes Neloth. She respects him and admires his ambition and tenacity, and while she definitely doesn’t love him when they get married, things do develop eventually (albeit slowly and accidentally). There are a lot of things she dislikes about him too, but they never had a bad relationship and worked together well during the Miraak business, so he’d logically be the best person to go for for.
The moral of the story is, if there’s one thing she’s absolutely great at, it’s running away from the consequences of her actions and neglecting her fuck-ups. Nobody ever said the Dragonborn was actually a morally good person. that’s why i stuck her with Master Bastard himself lmao

I’m a little confused dksjsh you brought up the point that Magnus didn’t apologize after siding with the seelie Queen, but Magnus wasn’t wrong for that i feel? Alec, even if it was a mistake, put his relationship and his own opinions above the safety of the downworld by lying about the soul sword. Magnus couldn’t trust him, he had to protect the Downworld another way. And since we dk what the deal entailed, I wouldn’t say he overstepped his bounds by protecting his people. Why would he apologize
alright nonny, there are about five questions in there, I somehow lost my first response to this, and I am very tired; apologies if this is less coherent than intended.
To start off with: I’m pretty sure in 3x1 Magnus says he lost his position because of his deal with the Seelie Queen, but my internet is being glitchy so I can’t rewatch the episode right now without killing the husband’s work connection, which is a bit more important.
Either way, though:
Magnus siding with the Seelie Queen was not, imo, entirely unreasonable. It would of course be easier to judge if we knew the terms, but it’s implied that it’s “just” loyalty. But she’s like a feudal lord in a lot of ways, loyalty to her is probably exclusive and comprehensive, physical and political and magical.
THAT SAID: she betrayed them and sided with Valentine, almost getting the majority of the Downworld wiped out, and would, it’s implied, have then had control over the Warlocks in her realm, aka she tried to kill everyone who wouldn’t agree to belong to her.
That is a hell of a consequence, if she’d pulled it off, and Warlocks as the Seelie Queen’s slaves is (arguably?) better than Warlocks as Valentine’s dead victims, but it’s still not good. Also, the Seelie Queen was “offering sanctuary” in exchange for the loyalty of all the Warlocks in the world, and based on the fact that there’s a Council who could fire Magnus, he’s more like... a single President of one country, or even just, idk, a Senator or Member of Parliament, he doesn’t have the authority or the right to make a decision for the whole world.
Now, again, extenuating circumstances! But this is definitely not an unreasonable excuse to fire him.
Partly because she’s notoriously manipulative and power-hungry, they all knew her “offer” was probably a trap. That’s why Raphael and Luke didn’t take it. So the question becomes, why did Magnus anyways? Because Warlocks have children and Vampires & Werewolves don’t? Because he remembers other Nephilim failures in a way Luke & Raphael don’t? (Raphael may be immortal now but he’s still a lot younger than Magnus. And Luke was a Shadowhunter, despite knowing better he still wants to trust that they’ll come through in the end.)
Or maybe Magnus is smarting from Alec’s deception and is swinging too far the other way?
Because of that last question, it’s not unreasonable to assume that the real reason they fired him was because of his relationship with Alec (and by extension the rest of the Shadowhunters in NYC) but that’s obviously not why they said they did it.
SO
His people could potentially want him to apologize for making a deal for all of them without their consent, and/or for almost making them the Seelie Queen’s slaves.
Now. Alec doesn’t need an apology for Magnus’ decision to side with the Seelie Queen; it’s largely his fault that Magnus thought that’s what he had to do, and Alec totally gets that.
Magnus being a petty asshole afterwards and setting up wards that could kill every Shadowhunter in the city? Maybe worth an apology? Maybe not though, ymmv there.

Can you talk more about Jewish!Percy? I've seen you mentioning this headcanon once or twice here. The best of all this is that Percy's race is free to interpretation, according to Rick. So,Free Real Estate! Happy Quarantine!
ralph wiggum vc: you're in danger
Fair warning, these headcanons are based on this au I have featuring a sibling oc (Addie Jackson) like this is 2012 all over again, and based on the two films + the idea of the Percy Jackson as a darker/more mature series. So it's not book compliant. Mind you I'm not Jewish and a was raised in a partly Pentecostal, partly Disciple of Christ household, in a predominantly Catholic country. My knowledge of Judaism extends to what I've studied for this au, read out if desire to learn, and what I've seen from people I follow who are Jewish. If I'm wrong then kick my door down and tell me asfghkl any gaysssss
Percy's great grandparents are (obviously) Jewish: more specifically his great grandfather (Solomon Jackson) was the son of Russian-Jewish immigrants, while his great grandmother (Aleksandra Volova, called Sasha by her immediate family and husband) was a Russian Jew who left Russia in 1922.
Due to the shock of realizing the Greek and Roman gods are real (and no I don't recognize other mythologies existing at the same time because that is a mess and not a properly interconnected book universe), Sally experiences a crisis of faith around the age of 18-19, but she calms down and still upholds her beliefs because,,, fuck Zeus and the Olympians, who do they think they are?
Following becoming a single mother of two and then her marriage to Gabe, Sally and the kids didn't go to the sinagogue as much as they would have liked to, because it was impossible to do so. They didn't have time. But they still kept up with traditions, they eat kosher, Percy and Addie attended Hebrew school for a while.
They often do mix up and forget what happens when, it's kinda funny sometimes if he's honest.
Percy 🤝 his Latino neighbors: Christmas is w e a k
Paul? Black and Jewish. One of Percy's future adopted children? Puerto Rican and Jewish? Reyna? Puerto Rican and not Jewish but she relates to Percy in the whole "my childhood was taken from me and idk how to properly relate to my culture because of it" experience.
Percy loves Shavuot: hearing the story of Ruth, eating dairy foods (he used this to eat his weight in ice cream), going to sinagogue, and decorating with flowers which he couldn't often do much because, again, Gabe. So he was pissed when — after he and Addie and Sally got back home after his first quest — he realized they missed it.
Compared to Addie, Percy is avtually less religiously inclined at first. He becomes, not exactly more spiritual but definitely much more interested in and embraces the religious aspect of Judaism later in his 20s.
Late Bar and Bat Mitzvah for Addie and Percy, because they missed out on it thanks to a childhood with Gabe. Speaking of Tyson may or may have not nearly put Percy through the roof while lifting him on the chair.
Percy learns Hebrew through sheer will power and,, sucks at it mostly but he tries. He's far better at writing and reading it however, in an ironic twist of fate in contrast to his Greek. He can understand both as perfectly as he can with English.
Man has an initial amount of conflict when celebrating Hanukkah after finding CHB because of the whole "fuck the Seleucid empire aka the Greeks" (vs miss Ariadne "Addie" Jackson who would spit in the gods' faces if left unchecked probably). But after a while he joins Addie in celebrating it without any problem because you can love both of the communities you belong to while acknowledging the m a n y faults one committed.
I saw this post about how to write Jewish characters that said something about them "eating a hot dog and threatening to hit someone if they told their grandma about it" and if that isn't the mood for Percy in this au, I don't know what is.
When Percy's off in college and in the rare quest during adulthood and it conflicted with Rosh Hashanah, he ate apple slices dipped in honey.
Guilt whenever goat meat is eaten 2: the return of Afro-Puerto Rican!Percy. Betrayal tastes good and Grover's just gonna have to handle it.
Don't feel in the need for a comfort stew or soup in his vicinity because he will make you either matzo ball soup or cholent and you're going to have to eat it. He has grandma offering you food vibes.
There's a few points here about Percy not engaging in both the religious and cultural aspects of Judaism so much due to Gabe, but that happens often in abusive environments with interfaith marriages.
That and Percy and his sister were in boarding schools for months.
Percy and Addie make the chuppah for Sally and Paul's wedding, and Percy does not cry the whole time of the ceremony what are you thinking
Additional headcanons that aren't necessarily about Jewish Percy but have to do with this universe:
Sasha is the youngest of six children and a daughter of Aphrodite, who met Sasha's father Yakov after the death of his wife.
Sasha moved to East Harlem in 1922, back when it was a huge enclave of Jewish immigrants (Jewish people, largely Eastern European, were standing at 90,000 in 1917, it wasn't until after WW1 when immigration of Puerto Ricans and other Latin Americans swept East Harlem).
Zinovy, Yakov's last son with his wife, who was older than Sasha by a year, was the closest to her, and he and his own son, Isaac took her leaving the hardest.
Solomon Jackson, Sasha's husband, could see through the mist, which is where Sally got her skill from
Sally's parents died while on their way to bring some relatives living in Europe and Israel to meet her.
Sally's uncle Rich was gay and a had boyfriend who is alive and who Percy later on meets.
Percy has a large extended family, but only really reconnects with Zinovy's descendants: his son Isaac, Isaac's wife Ofra and twin sons Alexander and Erez, and Alexander's own wife Simone and children Diana, Gila and Yosef.
There's a whole family tree for the Volov-Jackson family because there's a lot of people to keep track of, just saying

Lady Denham throws fits but usually comes around in the end. Considering she left her entire fortune to the town in her now burned will, why would she now back out? Like Tom, she wanted to leave her legacy by creating this resort. Would Arthur, Sidney and Lady D's money combined be enough? Also, with Esther married and her other relations disowned, what do you see her role as going forward?
I am glad you asked me this my friend, because this gives me an opportunity to whip out my copy of Sanditon and to do some quoting. Here’s what the book has to say on Lady Denham’s financial situation:
Lady Denham had been a rich Miss Brereton, born to wealth but not to education. Her first husband had been a Mr Hollis, a man of considerable property in the country, of which a large share of the parish of Sanditon, with manor and mansion house made a part. He had been an elderly man when she married him; - her own age about thirty. - Her motives for such a match could be little understood at the distance of forty years, but she had so well nursed and pleased Mr Hollis, that at his death he left her everything - all his estates, and all at her disposal. After a widowhood of some years, she had been induced to marry again. The late Sir Harry Denham, of Denham Park in the neighbourhood of Sanditon had succeeded in removing her and her large income to his own domains, but he could not succeed in the views of permanently enriching his family, which were attributed to him. She had been too wary to put anything out of her power - and when on Sir Harry’s decease she returned again to her own house at Sanditon, she was said to have made this boast to a friend ‘that thought she had got nothing but her title from the family, she had given nothing for it.’
Furthermore,
Lady Denham was indeed a great lady beyond the common wants of society - for she had many thousands a year to bequeath, and three distinct sets of people to be courted by; her own relations, who might very reasonably wish for her original thirty thousand pounds among them...
This means, that Lady Denham’s wealth has been accumulated first from her inheritance from the Breretons (i.e. £30,000), and whatever she got from Mr Hollis, who owned Sanditon House and everything else. To me, Sanditon house looks like something between Pemberley and Netherfield, so let’s just make an educated guess and say that her income is around £7,000 a year (Bingley had £5K, and Darcy had £10K, so I’m going somewhere in the middle - and seven seems like “many”?).
By consulting Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, I found out that the income people would get from their savings would be a 5% interest annually, which means that Lady Denham’s fortune must be around £140,000, but we have no idea how much of that is tied up in Sanditon’s buildings already. Considering the fact that Tom said he owes £80,000 (this is probably not including any of the Parkers’ money), she may not even have enough to pay off for the damage done by this fire.
And I think it was not because of the fire that she was so disappointed, but because of Tom’s stupidity. I think, had something happened that was in no way his fault, she wouldn’t have had that reaction, and would’ve helped financially in any way she could because of her intentions in her will, like you said. But this sounded to me more like a, “Am I a joke to you?” kind of reaction from her because literally all of that could have been avoided had Tom just insured the project.
As to Esther, I think her life is shaping out to be very good indeed. I don’t think she will return next season as the main character, because her arc is sort of complete (except I would also like to see her process her trauma fully, since that hasn’t been done at all yet). But besides that, I think her role in Sanditon is done, unless Lady Denham suddenly dies in 2x01 or something, and Esther gets everything because Lady D hadn’t re-written her will yet? Idk lol, we’ll see.

35: How flexible is your OC?
As flexible as needed.
36: What turns your OC on?
Seeing someone fresh out of the shower, damp, hair messy. The feeling of hot breath and scruff against a neck. Teeth teasingly nipping at skin. The sound of gruff ‘I love you’s’ and so on. Cheesey stuff.
37: What was your OCs first word?
It happened to be “Cat!”
38: Does your OC have any pets?
Not really, other than a mutant sentient Cactus. But that’s magic gone horribly wrong.
39: Who is your OCs biggest enemy?
Currently it would probably be some ex members of an old clan unhappy about Rain’s position and them being expelled.
40: What is the craziest thing your OC has done?
Bursting into a high security Alchemist compound all in order to free fellow Vampire’s that’d been captured.
41: What is your OCs motto about life?
Do what you need to, Do what you want.

Depends on the company. Sometimes coffee, sometimes tea.
43: Who is your OCs biggest hero?
The blurry figure that had helped him escape from an institution / facility.
44: What color eyes does your OC have?
Originally Rain had Ice colored hues, upon joining a clan he’d been given the opportunity to partake in their form of visual prowess. Since then he sports one Crimson and one Ice colored optic.
45: Does your OC like reading?
Absolutely, At times when Rain needs to calm down or space of his own, he’ll sit down with a good book. He’ll always try and seek out an actual book of what he wants to read since he doesn’t care for electronic readers. Loves the smell of books.
46: Is your OC loyal?
Absolutely, sometimes to a fault. There are times given the situation he’ll kill for his friends and he’ll be by their side for as long as they’ll want him there.
47: Does your OC tolerate violence?
Generally no, but there are times when simply conversing just doesn’t do the trick.
48: What social class is your OC from?
Rain is of royal blood, but that’s never stopped him befriending others from different styles of life. In fact there are even times where one wouldn’t know his status by his actions.
49: What country was your OC born in?
Born in the states, but was raised out in Europe.
50: Does your OC cry easily?
Nope.
51: What is your OCs favorite genre of music?
Surprisingly he’s got a love for both classical and techno.
52: How does your OC feel about insects?
He’s not really phased by them. They don’t gross him out, but he doesn’t love them either.
53: What is your OCs sexual orientation?
Gay, but he doesn’t broadcast it everywhere. Sometimes he’ll flirt for the sake of flirting.
54: Does your OC smoke?
Nope, he doesn’t want to constantly smell like a cigarette.
55: What gender is your OC?
Male.
56: What kind of clothes does your OC wear?
Generally relaxed casual clothing. Then something nicer for certain events and parties.
57: Would you call your OC adventurous?
At times.
58: Is your OC introverted or extroverted?
A little bit of both. It takes him a bit to willingly strike up a conversation with a complete stranger, sometimes preferring to just mind his own business. On the other hand there are times when he’s a tad more outgoing.
59: What is the first thing that someone would notice about your OC?
Either his large stature being more built than an average human, his luminous mixed hues. Or the equally strange luminous markings on his body.
60: Does your OC enjoy nature?
Yep, one of the few places he can completely decompress himself is a small clearing in the forest where he can sit and listen to the birds and other animals around him.

my thoughts on Hamilton on Disney+
I have gotten into the habit of psychoanalyzing the reasons that businesses would do the things that they do. I see the performative pandering of pride month by large businesses, judge whether other aspects of their donations, investments, etc, also align with their pr. So, when Disney+ announced that they would be releasing a filmed version of the musical Hamilton, I decided to sit down and think about the overall pros and cons culturally of this move, and what potential motives Disney would have to do this.
The Pros:
One of the biggest pros I could think of is the greater accessibility this musical will have for the general populace now. There has been a movement over the past several years to create filmed versions of musicals (Sweeney Todd, Les Miserables, and Into the Woods come to mind), but Hamilton offers a greater range of musical sounds than any of the previous musicals do. Even in those movies, the songs SOUND like songs from a musical. They all definitively and decidedly reside in the musical theater genre. Hamilton, however, with its use of electronic sounds, extra sound effects, a wider range of instruments and a wider range of vocal techniques including rapping and beatboxing, could I believe reasonably be heard on the radio. Burn would sound lovely before or after a Taylor Swift song; My Shot is an absolute BOP and could be heard at any time IMO. The overall accessibility of this music, however, was shadowed by how incredibly expensive it is to go to see a live musical. I had to get season pass tickets to just get the chance to see Hamilton in my state’s theaters, which amounted to about $900. That was the only reason I bought the season pass. It was $900 for a gamble. Most people can’t swing that, and that’s only if the theaters that had Hamilton in their seasons were within easy travel for people, which is probably less likely for parts of the country. The musical being on a streaming platform finally breaks through that affluence barrier, allowing it to truly be a musical for the people’s enjoyment.
Another large pro is I believe a Disney+ specific pro, which is the possibility for children to be able to learn from the musical. Children can now be entertained for several hours while their parents are handling other matters, and during that time they will learn history in a way that is fun and easy to digest (I had no idea that Hamilton started the Coast Guard until this musical). They also get to have new people to idolize, like Eliza Hamilton who demonstrated poise, kindness and patience throughout the entire show and came out to be a complete Badass in the end with everything she accomplished after Alexander died. Lafayette was the noble eloquent powerhouse with his beautiful and quick raps and his demeanor, Hercules Mulligan was a complete rockstar in an entirely different way by acting as a spy. All of this allows the children to see a wide cast of characters that are all heroes in different ways based off of their personal characteristics, and I find that to be incredibly important. There is no one way to be a good person, or to be a hero.
The musical itself also speaks to race in a profound way, which I believe is important for the current political and social climate in the US right now. The POC cast gives some much needed diversity to musical theater as a whole, without the POCness of it being shoved down into people’s throats. There are no comments about race of the characters themselves; instead they just are who they are, and it fits and works very well. Slavery and the ills of slavery are also mentioned throughout the musical without it being a main focus; it’s just “These are our heroes, and they spoke out about slavery in these contexts” without that derailing the overall plot of the musical. Laurens believed what he believed and attempted to form a free Black Battalion, and his death and the loss of that idea was noted in the musical. Hamilton and Jefferson fought over slavery and economics in the first Cabinet Meeting. Eliza spoke out against slavery in her epilogue. And, all of this occurs just as another thread in the fabric of the story, gently and skillfully weaving a call for equal rights into every note and word; the musical is a continual call for justice and standing up for everyone, and that message is now available for everyone to consume now. That will be a powerful tool to help seed gentle thoughts in those that might be soon ready to change and learn. Perhaps this musical will be the final ray of sunshine that sends some confused folk to start to listen to the world around them.
The Cons:
The movie format doesn’t give the entire musical experience. The musical was filmed as it appears on stage with all of the original choreography, with several cameras set up to allow for close-ups and various angles of shots. This did at times take away from some of the more beautiful aspects of the musical, in that we missed choreography and the edges of the stage, as well as any work that the ensemble had put in to their own particular characters. As someone who has been in community musical theater productions before, I know I was encouraged to make any time I was on stage and interesting time, because “someone’s definitely going to be looking at me”. With all of the close ups and not-quite-full views of the stage, it in a way robbed the ensemble of getting to showcase their talents and their characters with the larger audience that is now available to see the musical as a whole. There were also gestures and cues that undoubtedly were given to the main actors that would look perfectly acceptable to an audience member given the amount of distance that is usually between an actor on stage and a viewer, which looked somewhat ridiculous when the actor was the sole person on screen. Both of these issues are largely due to formatting differences between musicals and movies, and absolutely when translating between the two some things are going to get lost. Tragic, but absolutely expected and not the inherent fault of anyone that attempted to bring the musical to the small screen.
Overall I believe that the fact that Hamilton has been brought to a tv near you is a positive move. That still begs the question; why did Disney do this? Profit is possibly a big motivator. The musical became insanely popular almost immediately upon its release, and the fact that Disney could capitalize on that using its own platform would have been incredibly attractive for them. There are now potential merch deals, and all the musical lovers that wanted to see Hamilton that will now be getting a Disney+ subscription JUST so that they can see it is a real deal. Disney was also facing some backlash for taking their movies off of other platforms just to have their own personal paywall, so having a thing that was not originally theirs but is now exclusively available by them will allow some of the flack to die down.
Another possibility is the positive PR. Disney has been making strides in the past several years to appropriately manage their racist past by adding disclaimers to their old cartoons and movies, removing some outdated racist content from their streaming service, and by changing some of their amusement park rides to remove the more racist pieces (I personally am very excited to potentially get a Princess and the Frog ride instead of the one based on Songs of the South. IDK if that is going to happen, I think that was just a rumor, but I would love it to exist). Releasing and promoting Hamilton is a powerful way to not just put a band-aid on their past bad behavior, but to actively step forward with “This is what we believe and promote NOW.” Even if it is at its core just a financially-driven move, it is a positive step forward for the company as a whole, and will be more outwardly beneficial for all of the reasons I described earlier. It is also worth noting at this time that the recording that was released credited the performance to 2016, 4 years before its final release, which tells me that this was planned long in advance and is not simply a scrambling pro-BLM pandering move though it may have been planned for a later release date and they moved it up to now. I’m not sure.
I know that these reasons don’t necessarily paint a very charitable image of Disney; it’s safe to say that I don’t have a lot of trust in the benevolence of large corporations, especially one that seems to own about 1/8 of the world in some way or another. It would take an incredible amount of time to dig into all of Disney’s branches to determine if their overall PR moves, donations and initiatives do align with the BLM movement. For example, I do believe they have a hand in some fast food industries, and I know that Chick-fil-a is discriminatory, and some of Wendy’s donations also belie a discriminatory bend to the upper echelons of control in that company. So, I don’t entirely know if I trust Disney’s overall motivations without knowing more about the entire conglomeration. If you all got to the end of this, thank you for reading my rant. I hope you have a lovely day.

Motorcycle Buying Advice For Teen?
"Motorcycle Buying Advice For Teen?
I'm 17 years old and plan on getting my motorcycle license in about 2 weeks. By the end of summer I was hoping to give my mom money to make a large downpayment on a bike and finance it to make monthly payments on it. However I then read up on insurance and read that in the teens if you don't pay cash for a bike the price of insurance is outrageous and near nothing when you pay cash because it's only liability. Would it be better to finance the bike or just wait a year or two and save up money to buy one off of craigslist? Thanks!

Help insuring a Car?
I am 16 years old and from the UK. I will be turning 17 in november and getting a driving licence. I was offered a car from my step dad. It is a 1996 Honda Civic Coupe LSi in green/blue. Or at least cheaper then the quotes I have been getting. I am willing to keep it in a garage, it has an alarm and I will use a steering lock, but the quotes are still expensive. .Thanks for any help I get

Should I get insurance on a car loan?
It's been many years since I got a car loan, but we're in need of a replacement car. I started to get pre-approved, but during the process they asked about insurance on the loan. Things like death, DISM and UEMP . I've no idea what the last 2 are; or if I should or shouldn't get it. This may be what I've heard called GAP Insurance , although doing a web search on that term resulted in hits related to car leases, and I'm not looking to lease a car, but to buy one, so I don't know if that applies or not. Bottom line: do I need this or not? I'm sure the answer, in part, will be it depends ; well, until I know what it depends upon, I can't make any intelligent decision about this.""

Someone hit my dad's car with no insurance?
So my dad was on his way home from work. At an intersection, he was waiting for the light to turn green, when suddenly someone hit him from the back, probably because the person didn't stop in time. So the person waved his hand to go somewhere to park and exchange information. Notice, no witness besides the two of them. Well, it was a crowded intersection and at dinner time, so no one stopped, and it's impossible to track any down. My dad was panicking, so he just followed the guy. Both exchanged legitimate information and drove home. When my dad got home, of course, it was past 8pm, so we couldn't call the insurance company. So we did all the paperwork the next day. It turned out, the guy's insurance had expired just 1 month before. We told the guy and he said okay and will pay by cash. My dad went to the autodealer and the price is about $4000. So the problem is now, we've been keep calling him and he doesn't pick up. He picked up the first couple of times, but now he doesn't anymore. We told him the price already. What should we do? Take him to court? I heard you don't get anything out of it. We have the guy's info, because his old insurance sent it. Should I get a full coverage insurance on a rental car?
I have to rent a car for 2 weeks for business. Supposely, the cost should be reimbursed to me by a company after the assingment is done. Not sure if I can truly trust that. Motorcycle insurance?
my motorcycle insurance policy is about to expire next month, so im just looking into companies/experiences to see if i should switch (since getting quotes isnt as easy as they make it sound!!). ive been with progressive for a year and pay 93$ a month. i was honest when i joined and said i had less than a year of experience-- i'd literally learned how to ride right before signing up with them, though because i learned with one of those motorcycle safety courses, i got a small discount with them. so, now, i have a year of experience as well as a year of owning my bike (which i paid for in full and am the sole owner of). i'm 20 year old female, have a kawasaki ninja 500r, use it for pleasure purposes. my driving history, unfortunately, is not pristine. in 2009 i got a speeding violation for MORE than 10mph over the speed limit (that was in my car), and last month, sadly, i was in an accident that was my fault (also in car) (no injuries). i havent had any infractions on the bike. i have a motorcycle endorsement on my license and, as i said, passed a motorcycle safety foundation course. i got a quote with geico, and their prices were really just obscene. so, basically, i just want to hear from other ppl who deal with the same thing. how much do you pay for bike insurance? have any good recommendations for companies? what companies are known for being a little bit more forgiving about accidents, seeing as i just had one (again, in my car, not my bike, but i know it matters). any tips, etc? i know being young and not having a lot of experience are not on my side, just thought id try :)""

""Female 19 year-old-, non-owner, occasional driver, Florida. Insurance premium increase?""
Okay, here are the details: My sister (who is 5 years older than me) got her first car 6 years ago at the age of 18. She didn't get her license until AFTER she bought the car. It was a '94 Blazer SUV. My parents' insurance went up about $800/year when she and the car were added. Then, she got married in 2002 and was removed from my parents' policy. Not much has changed since then; they are still paying pretty much the same premiums. So, since I also decided to wait until I was at least 18 to get my license due to the increase of insurance premiums, last fall I started inquiring with my parents' agent about how much it would be for me to be added. I turned 19 in December 2007, and was quite sure it would be less for me to be added considering I am a year older than my sister was when she got her license, and I do not own a car of my own. Motorcycle Buying Advice For Teen?
I'm 17 years old and plan on getting my motorcycle license in about 2 weeks. By the end of summer I was hoping to give my mom money to make a large downpayment on a bike and finance it to make monthly payments on it. However I then read up on insurance and read that in the teens if you don't pay cash for a bike the price of insurance is outrageous and near nothing when you pay cash because it's only liability. Would it be better to finance the bike or just wait a year or two and save up money to buy one off of craigslist? Thanks!

Confused.com form for car insurance?
Im looking to purchase an audi s3 and im 21, however the insurance is too much so what im thinking is to buy the car and then insure the car to my dads name so he can drive it for a year or 2 (I WONT BE INSURED ON IT) until i can be insured on it. My question is, on confused.com it asks when did you purchase the vehicle? And if i put say 2 years ago the price of the insurance drops compared to if i brought it say today. Is it ok to do this? When they ask when did you purcahse the car can i say 2 years ago? Hope this makes sense if you use confused.com you will know what i mean. Im really enthusiastic about audis and in particular the s3, im looking to join the members club online. So will this work to lower my insurance when i want to insure myself on it? Also what will be the deal with the registered keeper and owner of the vehicle? Would that be me? Even though my dad would be the person insured on the vehicle? I know im trying to obtain cheaper insurance but if i dont drive it for 2 years i dont see a problem in this. any ideas? What if my dad is the registered owner then registers it to me in 2 years will i have to say i brought the car 2 years ago or when my dad registers it over to me?""

Second car insurance very very expensive - why? What would make it cheaper?
Hi, Me and my fiancee currently own and insure a Rover 25, V reg, 1.4 ltr, through Quinn. I'm the main driver and she's a named driver. We currently pay about 400 for tpf&t for the policy, and this has been roughly the price since we started the policy about 2 1/2 years ago. We're now looking at getting a second car as we will be working in different areas. My Grandma offered me her old Nissan Micra (1.3 ltr, K-reg) for us to have. I phoned up Quinn to get a quote for this car and they quoted 2,020!! I can't understand why it's so much more expensive, it's ridiculous! The lady I spoke to couldn't give me any adequate explanation of why it was so expensive, though she mentioned that we wouldn't be able to use a NCB on it as it would have to be an entirely new policy. But we took our first car policy with no NCB and that was a fraction of the price. Apparently the micra is called a Super-S or something, though it is not suped up or a fancy model or anything. Could that be it? We've tried a few other insurers and they also give expensive quotes (1000+) though not as ridiculous as Quinn. Any ideas why it would be so expensive? What could we change to try to make it cheaper? Change each car to have one named driver ony? Try a different car? Find a multicar insurer? I'm 31, she's 28, and we've both been driving for 2 3/4 years with no claims, points, convictions etc. Thanks.""

Actually, I understand the criticisms against Hamilton, and like, how having a black man play Thomas Jefferson doesn’t change the fact that Jefferson was a trash can and a terrible man who did horrible things to the people he enslaved, and raped a teenage girl because she was the half-sister of his dead wife, looked like her, and “belonged” to him.
I get all of that.
But as a writer, if I was going to write this same musical... like, if it didn’t exist at all, and I got the idea for the very same musical Lin-Manuel wrote, I would cast it that way, too.
(And, like, not for nothing, but we really can’t expect people to not make historical films, TV shows, plays, and books because historical figures did bad things, because a LARGE percentage of them did, because the world used to be a much more vicious place than it is, now. Like, things on our moral compass today, especially socially, were just not, back then. Like, even among the white abolitionists in America, at the time, all of them would be racist by today’s standards. That’s just the reality of it. I suppose an argument could be made for writing THAT play, instead; that celebrated what these men did to found our country, but also very plainly and honestly showed what awful things they did... I digress...)
But, for me, there is something powerful in telling the story of the founding of our nation using all actors of color. And also, it’s something that could’ve ONLY happened in theatre. I don’t think, if Miranda wrote Hamilton as a film, it would’ve happened. I don’t think, if it did happen, it would’ve been as acclaimed. (And, it’s not the same thing, but that’s also my opinion on The Greatest Showman. They should’ve just made it a Broadway show. It would’ve been much more acclaimed.) I also know that there’s no way the film industry would’ve allowed Miranda to even get past the pitch if he said he was writing a Hamilton musical about the founding of the United States and wanted to cast all people of color to play the main roles. Maybe it’s just because it’s my industry, but it really is a big fucking deal that he actually got a musical like this produced, and starring people of color. Can you imagine??? He’s lucky as fuck, and it really only happened, even then, because he had such success with In The Heights.
Also, I don’t think it portrays any of these people overtly positively. Hamilton is trash in the play, he cheats on his wife, then writes a public document about it. Jefferson is trash literally every time he’s on stage. He’s rude, portrayed as a slaver (which is portrayed as negative), arrogant, flamboyant and conniving. He’s funny, because like King George, he’s a comic character, but I wouldn’t say he’s portrayed in a positive light. Burr is portrayed as an ineffectual, slimy guy who does/says what he must to get in someone’s good graces.
If Hamilton was just a moderately popular Broadway musical, I also don’t think there would be much issue. The problem is it got super famous, and got a bunch of young, white fans (sorry, but yes) who then proceeded to do that very “uwu my trash son!” thing that’s been criticized. I’m only thinking about it this much because I recently watched the entire play on a bootleg, and it’s really well done, doesn’t actually make any of these people out to be other than what they were (because I’m a nerd, I also did a ton of reading about many of the figures in the play), and is beautifully written.
I can’t really imagine it differently.
For me, I like the performances by the actors. I don’t think I can mentally romanticize any of the characters, because they were real people, and I know this is a highly stylized, fictionalized version of them. But no more than 1776, or Washington’s Spies, or any other play, film, or TV show about the Revolutionary War and the founding fathers. I like the songs and performances, like, I really love Wait For It, and Dear Theodosia. But I can’t then be like “OMG I love Aaron Burr, he so sad and cute”, because, like, Aaron Burr was a real man and he was not Leslie Odom, and I don’t know what Aaron Burr really wanted, did, or stood for. IDK, I just don’t get that, from it. Only thing I got was a curiosity to compare fact vs fiction by looking up these figures and reading about their lives. (Although I have this thing where I get sad when I read about people’s personal tragedies, and I did get sad when I read how his daughter died...) Only figures I came out of Hamilton with genuine respect for were John Laurens (started the first all black battalion, recruiting enslaved Africans with the promise of freedom after the war. His promise was only broken because he was killed right after the war ended, and the slavers took their slaves back), Elizabeth Hamilton (the work she did after her husband died, with the orphanage, dedicating her life to helping children who had no one), and Hamilton himself (fought tooth and nail to abolish slavery in New York, successfully got it abolished in New York City and took successful steps to get it abolished in New York state before his death- shortly thereafter, New York state did abolish slavery.) They’re the only figures from the play that I read about after the play and felt they genuinely wanted freedom for all Americans, and worked hard to make a better America right at the start of it.
That said, I think Hamilton is a triumph of musical theatre, it’s something that could’ve only happened in theatre, and while we should absolutely criticize art, and most of the critiques of it have been valid, we shouldn’t be ridiculing it like it’s some idiotic thing. Like it’s the Justin Bieber of musicals. The founding of America is going to be told in stories forever and always. There will always be films, books, TV shows, plays...
Lin-Manuel Miranda made the most famous telling of that story, to date. And it’s starring all people of color. That, in itself, is a triumph. I don’t want to criticize him for that. We could’ve just had a revival of 1776, guys. Instead, we got the greatest musical of our time. I feel blessed to be alive to have witnessed this era. From a theatre perspective, this musical is a masterpiece, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
I get it, though. White colonists did horrible things to most of the brown people they encountered, and some of us don’t wanna celebrate that. IDK. I just, I don’t know if that means Hamilton shouldn’t have been what it is. I don’t know. I just think it’s so brilliantly made, so perfectly executed...
I also wouldn’t want kids 300 years from now singing along to Donald Trump and the deplorable musical. But I also recognize that 300 years from now, all of us will just be concepts of people, to them, and this time period will also just be a concept. Just like we think of the Revolutionary War as more of a concept than something real people like you and me experienced. It’s not a fault, it’s just hard for us to imagine the past as complexly as we imagine our lives, now. I also think that any musical 300 years from now would be about Obama and Trump would, if anything, be a villainous buffoon character, because history is not going to be kind to him. Think about how we all imagine Napoleon Bonaparte; as a tiny little angry man with the original Napoleon complex; as a caricature in cartoons... I think that’s the type of image future people will have of Trump. Think about it; WE largely hate him, and we record so much history every single day. We are the most literate generation. We write how we feel several times a day on Twitter. Historians are already preserving stuff like Tweets for future generations.
They will know how hated he was, and nobody will take him seriously. Obama will be as revered as a George Washington type figure.
And speaking of Washington, I’ll leave you with his words in One Last Time, because it sums up what I’m trying to express about Hamilton quite well.
“Though, in reviewing the incidents of my administration, I am unconscious of intentional error, I am nevertheless too sensible of my defects not to think it probable that I may have committed many errors.”
They were complicated men, with mindsets of their era, and yes, some of them did things that are entirely inexcusable and that I want to say that by today’s standards would destroy their reputation, but in America right now, racist rapists seem to be all the rage with a disturbing number of Americans... But to pretend the play is simply a celebration of these guys is to purposefully misunderstand the play. It’s a telling of a story. It does celebrate Hamilton himself, but IDK, reading up on him, he seems like a cocky asshole, but a good guy with a good vision for what America should be. An early abolitionist. Which is one of my main litmus tests for good American figures. At any rate, the musical tells a compelling story, and it simply tells it. I think it kind of encourages you to do your own reading on the Revolution and it’s figures... Anyway, it’s brilliant, let’s let it be great, amen.

47: Does your OC tolerate violence?
Generally no, but there are times when simply conversing just doesn’t do the trick.
