And of course, the performances do much of the heavy lifting: even when half of what is said is lost, it’s a great pleasure to witness Beale’s quiet charisma: a perfect casting, he is a man most certain of himself while pitifully mourning the limitations of his time. The conversation between himself and Dickie Beau’s Oscar Wilde is miraculous, the former mourning the waste of the latter’s life, only for Wilde to castigate, “Better a fallen rocket than never a burst of light.”

Fiery Angel and The Shed will co-produce William Shakespeare's King Lear, directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh as the titular character.
King Lear is the latest addition to Branagh's impressive Shakespearean repertoire, which includes his film adaptations of Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, and Love's Labour's Lost and, more recently, The Winter's Tale on stage.
He has also directed acclaimed stage productions of Macbeth, The Winter's Tale, and Romeo and Juliet.
The production will preview from 21 October 2023 at Wyndham's Theatre in London, with a press night on 31 October, and will run for just 50 performances. Tickets will go on sale on 5 June at 12 noon.
Following its London run, the production will transfer to The Shed's Griffin Theater in New York for the autumn of 2024.
Further cast and creative team members are to be revealed.

HEY !! IF YOURE VOTING FOR THE WHATSONSTAGE AWARDS THEN YOU SHOULD 100% VOTE FOR PUNCH ‼️
If you don’t know, Punch is a play about a man called Jacob Dunne (19 at the time) who hit a 28 year old man in a fight in 2011 at Nottingham, resulting in his death. It’s a true story and is very important to hear as it spreads the word of how quickly things can escalate and about restorative justice.
I personally know James’ (the man who was killed) mother and she is such a sweet woman and has contributed and put so much love towards this project.
Now Jacob and James’ parents work together to spread awareness. Jacob has written a book about what happened which you can buy here. ⬇️
Feel free to read more about what happened through this article ⬇️
If you have taken the time to read this, thank you so much. Obviously I’m not forcing anyone to vote for Punch but the show will be opening at the Young Vic Theatre in london soon so if you’re interested please go see it.
You can vote here :)
