After 202288 times watching UD Gameplays, I've noticed that on that scene where Mike points the gun at Em, he only does it after Em says 'theres a Wendigo out there ready to bite me to pieces just like it did to- (probably JESS.)' And just THEN he takes the gun.

Idk if I'm too far into the mike and jess ship (I love them sm😞) to think that or if that's just the obvious and that's why NOBODY talks about it.

dropping a rant here because i’ve been seeing stuff about the ud movie on my tl all day and just wanted to drop some thoughts ! this is in no way trying to shit on the actors that were cast/ people who are excited to see this movie, i just wanted to talk about my opinions on the details that have been given/leaked so far as a huge fan of the original game since it came out <3

so from what i’ve seen on twitter and reddit, the characters in the film are completely new and are in no way connected to the original characters from the game. i don’t even need to say this but it’s so beyond disappointing to know that in a movie called UNTIL DAWN we won’t even see the characters that made us love the game in the first place. this is probably one of the biggest criticisms i’ve seen of the film, and an extremely valid one at that. i’m not really sure what reaction the creators of the film are expecting, but making a video game adaptation already comes with a ton of hesitancy from fans considering the shitty track record of adaptations in the past. (resident evil i’m looking at you)

the other thing that i’ve seen A TON of people take issue with, including myself, is the plot of the film. in a reditt post someone confirmed that the film is going to deviate significantly from the plot of the game beyond discarding the pre existing characters. apparently wendigos will not even be included but instead they’ll be taking a happy death day approach with a death loop??? so fucking confused by this and honestly i have no idea why they’re calling it until dawn at this point (if these facts are true) because it’s just not even remotely close to the game’s story. and for anyone who’s gonna say “you guys will complain about anything” it’s extremely fucking valid for anyone to say they’re disappointed considering it has nothing to do with the game’s characters or story.

for people who aren’t fans of the game, im sure this will be a fine movie and probably entertaining but i have lost any interest i had in seeing this since it was on announced months ago so pls fell free to drop your thoughts in the comments or reblog because id love to discuss it with you guys !

(also forgot to add that it’s confirmed that peter stormare will be making a cameo and everyone’s been jumping on it like “this means it’s connected to the game” i highly fucking doubt they’ll go the same route with his character if the plot is going to be completely different and not centered around a josh-like character so idk)

Oh cool! I’m flattered you like my Until Dawn posting there 😃. And ohmygoshyeah Chris is my boy! I think there’s a ton of really cool characterization with him, Josh, and Sam. Also I just support his hopes and dreams!

First question: 1) Computer/Technology, 2) math, 3) science, 4) language arts (he got into AP Eng to be with Ashley imo, but it’s not naturally his strong suit), 5) history, 6) art, 7) music, 8) climbing class gym.

Second question: I’m gonna say yes because I relate to Chris, and I break out when I’m stressed and if I don’t keep a skincare routine 😂. I feel like he likes his skin and hair because he has that really intentional, dorky fauxhawk. He thinks he’s cool and wants to come across that way. So he’d have decent skincare and get really nervous if he flares up because what will Ashley everyone think?!

Third question: I feel like they’re 100% together post game because, when things were getting deadly, they both massively regretted never confessing. I think that feeling of regret would stick with them, and they’d try to stay together through therapy and whatever else. I think they get only mildly flirty in public but are super affectionate in private. They’re used to the idea of it after kissing in the lodge.

Fourth question: Honestly it’s hard to put this in a specific order. But I’ll do roughly what I think and say why! 1) Jess just because she’s supposedly a huge party animal (but she’d want Mike next to her). 2) Sam likes coasters. She’s an adventurous gal. 3) Josh loves to have intense fun too. He’s a huge partier, and I think he’d be SUPER interested in the way they’re built and how the builders achieved maximum intensity. He’d also be HYPED to go as a group. But he might have a hard time with them on bad mental health days. 4) Mike likes going on them with whomever his girfriend at the time is so that he looks confident and impressive. 5) Matt. He seems like he’d like the rush. 6) Emily thinks they’re dumb but goes on them with the others and holds a straight face the whole time. 7) Ashley gets scared on them. She’s the girl you can hear high-pitched screaming on any coaster 8) Chris. Honestly I just head-canon him not going on them due to this post making me really laugh! But I think it’s somewhat accurate that Chris doesn’t like being jostled or dealing with minorly inconvenient things but then would absolutely storm Hell for you 😂. He went all in trying to save Sam from the Psycho then went on a potentially fatal quest to save Josh from Wendigos.

TLDR; Devil in Me ending didn't give me the satisfaction I expected from how good the game looked following Until Dawn and The Quarry.

I'm not gonna lie.. I was slightly disappointed with the ending of The Devil In Me. It's the first Supermassive game since Until Dawn (and the Quarry) I was genuinely excited to play and I brought it immediately.

I still haven't yet brought TQ and played it myself so this is based off videos I've seen.

My main gripe with the ending of DiM is that no matter how you go about it there's no satisfaction. If you go with saving even one person you get that shot by the lake and Du'Met (supposedly) grabs his mask and lures more people to the house. The whole game is for nowt. The only difference being if you get the ultimatum ending but even then Kate and Mark get shot. There's no ending in DiM where we get the satisfaction of Du'Met being dead. You can do everything right and he's still alive even though there's no way he should be.

TQ and UD depending on how you play them both have satisfying endings which for me, personally, are killing Cyrus with Laura, Travis and Ryan in TQ and the 'Save Everyone' ending in UD where the cutscene at the end shows Josh as a Wendigo.

To me both of those scenes are significantly more satisfying than DiM with the fact it finally felt like we got some sort of reward/payoff for playing and considering how excited I was for DiM, I was sorely disappointed.

Now none of this is meant to hate on Supermassive or DiM I do very much still love DiM. I still love the cast/plot and just the game in general (even if it can be a bit janky at times). I merely wish that our options we chose for the game held some real, genuine meaning on the ending which they don't really other than who survives. In TQ if you kill Cyrus you lift the curse, in UD if you save everyone you end up with Josh as a Wendigo and getting rid of Hannah as a Wendigo. TQ and UD endings feel like they have genuine weight unlike DiM which feels like it falls a little flat compared to the rest of the game.

This could be the same for Little Hope, House of Ashes, and Man of Medan but even after watching playthroughs of those games I was pretty much disappointed from the start, I found them rather boring and they didn't really hook me the way TQ, UD, and DiM did. Of course, personal preference.

Usually I post something UD around Canadian Elections, which sometimes is around Canadian Thanksgiving. It being October again had me think of it.

I have written down varied notes in places for a possible Josh Time Loop fic. These are some of the ones I had in google docs.

Putting them here in hopes that reading them again might spark something down the line. Or maybe it will inspire someone else to write it.

Personally, I think the hardest people to write a time loop fic for, are Mike, Sam, and Josh. Josh for being a plot setter, Mike for being the most in the loop and active, and Sam for being mostly out of the monster clueline until the end, which is why she needed the obvious hints of the grave and diary to connext it to Hannah. Which could be intresting, except she has the most plot armor. So its hard to find a good place to loop... Although Josh messing up and ODing her has possiblities, it is also very bad for their relationship.

I have written a mike TT, which was short, and seen a good one by someone else. Actually, I mention a UD TT fics in my Emily TT for every chapter she dies in but the first.

I'll post links at the bottom. In the meantime, on to Josh!

Josh on a time loop, and other UD theory stuff

saw a theory, that makes sense to me. The theory was that players couldn't save Josh, not directly because of karma from the prank or anything, but because he killed animals on the mountain. The pigs that he used in the prank. Most instances of Characters messing with nature on the mountain lead to nature retaliating. Jessica accidentally hits and kills a bird in a snowball fight, and almost has to dodge icicles not long after. Matt is loud and angry around a herd of moose, and can get kicked off a cliff. There are some exceptions, such as Chris shooting the squirrel and sam getting attacked, but overall it seems to follow that pattern. Josh killed several pigs to get the ingredients for his prank, and nature retaliated.

The prank can be reworked to avoid killing any pigs, just take out faking his death, And leaving a pigs head for Matt and Emily to find. The bit with the guns could still work. Sam's bath takes somewhere between 2-3 hours, If I have my math right. I'd also probably swap victims, and send Emily and Matt to the cabin (Emily is the likeliest one to call the police), Have Jess and Mike be the main targets of the prank (Jess is now a believer of ghosts, for story), and lock Chris and Ashley in a room escape room style (sure they may get claustrophobia, but thats way less traumatic then cannon). Nothing happened to Matt and Emily (they were faster then Mike and Jess), but thats what part two is for, I guess. Don't know what it would be though.

Matt surviving could make things more wild, as a Matt who didn't encounter wendigo's before meeting Jess, can warn her about the Psycho. Who he heard about, but never saw. So picture Matt and Jess escaping the mines together, and concluding everything happened because of the psycho. They describe Wendigo's to the police, because they never saw the psycho in person, and everyone who did and all other evidence is gone in the blaze.

In seriousness, I would like to write about Jess post game, but I would probably focus on recovering from the Coma, and the associated brain damage. Because real life, being unconscious that long would give her all sorts of brain damage. The longer the coma, the poorer chance of recovery, so after several hours, she was lucky to wake up at all, let alone be coordinated enough to escape, especially when paired with her physical injuries. So, I want to play that more realistic. I might have Matt and Emily survive, too, so she has a support network, and other people to the the story. Particularly interesting if Matt and Emily are at odds after the radio tower, but keeping their friendship with her.

I like Josh too. I saw a theory, that maybe sense to me for why you could not save him. It has nothing to do with his actions twords other people, and instead has to do with his actions twords nature. Nature punishes the protagonists for acting against it. Such as when Jess accidently kills a bird with a snowball, and almost dies to Icicles. Josh, to get the ingredients for his prank, killed several pigs. The only one who isn't directly impacted by that one is Chris, who killed nature, and Sam got hurt for it. 

I like to think about theories. And I realise I forgot the biggest example of Matt acting agressively around the hoard of moose, and being kicked off a cliff (if the player failed the QTE's). The one possible death that had nothing to do with monster's. I didn't do any of that on my first playthrough, but on chapter select I tried out some stuff, on the way to my, 'everybody dies 'run. Except Wolfie, who I went out of the way to save.

Now, takeing out any animal death from Josh's prank, mostly means avoiding fakeing his death, and not hideing Emily's bag to have them encounter a pigs head. That we see, anyway. The monsters derailed anything else we might have seen of it. So we can still have ghosts, and fake killer, and shoot yourself, or your girl scenario. Except either the gun is unloaded, or Josh is past the point of careing if the blanks kill someone, so someone gets seriously injured as a result. Josh should know that blanks can kill. Now let's swap targets. Give Emily and Matt the key to the cottage after the fight, beacuse Emily is the one canoncially smart enough to call for help, and should be saved for later. Emily and Matt get to the cabin fine, beacuse they are nither looking for the bag, nor pranking eachother, and are unlikley to be kidnapped as Jess was. I think they would stay away from the door. Lock Ashley and in Chris in a room to either work out their feelings or bond over the development of claustrophobia. Their adventures will be like escape room. Sam, will be out of the picture, as her bath took somewhere between 2-3 hours if I am doing my math right. Focus the prank around Jessica and Mike. We will give Jessica some belif in the supernatural for this to work, as Cannon doesn't let us play her enough to say that she doesn't believe. Other nuances would be changed due to different intended victims, an I'm sure there would be more to the prank, but I can't say I would know what else to add, as I am not much one for pranking.

I think, that Hannah was in there, somewhat, enough to know her old friends, and have feelings on how she killed them, but it wasn't enough to save them long term. The three people who she felt strongest about, were the ones who lasted the longest. I am unsure what it meant about her feelings on Josh when she crushed his head, as she seems to collect heads (like Beth's) , as a sign that she had some care for them. Emily's head is not collected if she isn't killed by Mike, which may indicate she didn't intend to save it. I don't know if Mike and Sam's stomachs being hit, and a slow death was an indication of care, so much as it was an indication Hannah lost the battle against restraint to not kill them.

I agree he probably would have lived if he weren't worried about Chris. I do think that Hannah's different hunting style was a factor in his death, as Hannah kills differently from the other monsters, as seen by the strangers poor dead wolf in the Sanitoriom. Hannah goes for a direct kill, rather then the miner monsters. I'm not sure if it is beacuse her body is newer and stronger, of if it is beacuse she has an old monsters soul in her. Maybe it's a mix of both.

i'm back at it again, this time I got a list of all the stupid decisions that the until dawn characters can or do make (some of these are player choice or determined by them, others will always playout regardless of choice), hopefully in chronological order or as close to it as I can figure - let me know if I miss anything!

this will contain until dawn spoilers!

PROLOGUE

Sam trying to prevent the prank happening by searching the house for Hannah instead of just waiting outside her room for her to show up and then letting her know what was going on

Hannah running out into the freezing cold of a mountain woods instead of just going into the basement or the library or some shit

Hannah running alone to the cliff edge instead of following Beth who was heading away from it

CHAPTER TWO

Chris using a makeshift flamethrower to open a frozen door when they could have brought everyone round to the window and just climbed in, albeit more carefully than Chris did

CHAPTER THREE

Jess assuming that her phone being thrown through a window was a prank being played by the others? and shouting at whoever it was in the freezing open possibly in her underwear?

CHAPTER FOUR

Mike using the scope of the gun to look at Jess being dragged away instead of aiming it at whoever or whatever the hell is attacking her

Chris not going to grab Sam and get her help after he is knocked out, Ashley goes missing, and he finds shit like blood on the wall

CHAPTER FIVE

Mike interacting with the arm moving in the middle of the room which is very clearly out of the ordinary and has been set up for something that is not likely to be good

CHAPTER SIX

Matt attacking the big wild elk that greatly outnumber and are surrounding him and Emily while on the edge of a cliff

Ashley being able to stab the Psycho and then not making any efforts to escape while he cries out over his wound and moves away from her

CHAPTER SEVEN

Emily not moving away from the falling tower resulting in her leg being injured

CHAPTER EIGHT

Emily closing the door on the wendigo only to stand against it instead of continuing to run, resulting in her being bitten

Chris and the Stranger going to get Josh despite hearing about and knowing about the wendigo, resulting in the Stranger's death and Chris being either injured or killed

Mike deciding to leave the safety of the basement to try and find Josh for the cable car key despite the Stranger and possibly Chris' deaths immediately prior, and the fact that rescue should be coming

Sam deciding they need to leave the basement as well to get Mike

CHAPTER NINE

Mike taking only a handful of ammo for the shotgun when there's a whole box that he could take (yes the game gives him unlimited ammo and plot armour no matter how many shots he makes but shhh it's a stupid decision anyway)

Chris staying behind from the group if Ashley does not encourage him to keep up

Ashley investigating what she believes is Jessica's voice even though she has read the Stranger's journal which reveals the mimic abilities of the wendigo

I am going to say this now, before the show has gone on too long and before he's managed to pull his little PR move

I want Matt Hancock to be the first out on I'm a Celebrity

he is there to make himself seem funny and likeable and not just a politician, but a cool figure that people don't see and immediately think of the scandals he has been involved in

and if he makes it far into the 'vote for who you save' section of the show, he will have succeeded

i want him to get voted to go through the most miserable, uncomfortable trials, and I want him to suffer while he's there

and then I want him to be the first out, to be reminded that no one really wants him there, no one wants him to win the show, that no one likes him and his ploy to seem relatable and more than what he is has failed

I need people to remember that he is scum, and this is all being done to save face, and that he should not be allowed to get away with this shit

YES and like obviously they don’t attack other werewolves, okay, cool. They’re unlike the wendigo in UD that way. But why do they not attack other werewolves when they don’t seem to have any kind of pack structure or hunt together? Or do they, but we only ever see Kaylee and Caleb as werewolves together (because it seems like they’re ambushing Nick and Abi together)??

This is the lore I wanna nail down for later because I have plans.

ALSO also why doesn’t Dylan get a ‘don’t breathe’ in the crane if they’re so attuned to motion? He’s not moving much in there and there’s no good reason for a werewolf to know the horn sound comes from inside the crane OR for them to come toward fire when that clearly hurts them. Maybe Silas is just better at scenting out people than the others??

Thinking about how they never explicitly confirm whether werewolves track specific people or just follow any people because they like biting people, but Silas bites Dylan at the radio hut and then follows him and Kaitlyn all the way to the scrapyard later (though if he’s dead I guess Silas follows just Kaitlyn, but that doesn’t happen in most playthroughs I would say).

So I feel like Dylan is right here. I mean, he is like 90% of the time. (The other 10% is when he says not to check out the silver shells or that you should shoot Emma lol) Like he comes off as kind of an asshole with this option because it sounds like he wants to abandon Abi and Nick (not great) but I suspect he’s factually correct.

Tangentially, I’m also always thinking about how the werewolves eat so little of their kills and trying to figure out their strategy there. 🤔 It’s almost like they see people as a threat they have to neutralize except that they seek out the supposed threat like it’s prey. Idk I’m having werewolf thoughts on this full moon evening.

The wonderful thing about the current pandemic is the normalcy of masks. Joshua is wearing one, and stitched into the thick fabric are various symbols, from band logos to markings from movies. Something he’d ordered specifically to his own taste.

Underneath the mask, a mouth half-full of jagged teeth sharp as daggers.

As he enters the Pet Store, he can feel the increased heartbeat of all the tiny critters who realize that he’s anything but human.

He makes his way to the reptile section, planting his face against the glass that contains feeding mice. Wide brown eyes stare back at him, shaking bodies and huddled masses. He can feel his stomach tighten.

“Hello sir, how many mice would you-“

“All of them.”

Josh is rewarded with a look that can only be compared to a mix of disbelief and wonder.

“You must have a lot of hungry snakes.”

So here Josh and Mike switch places and now Mike is stuck in the mines.

➤Helping Sam get Josh to safety, Mike was forced to stay behind due to an injury to his leg not wanting to slow them down.Eventually the Wendigo spirit enters him which starts to drive him mad though his last thought was of you.

➤You never gave up hope for Mike, wanting to find him you went back up to the mountains, then when wolfies and the help of the others you managed to find him holding a head. It took a lot of coaxing on your part but something deep down, Mike finally followed you and the others out.

➤Wanting to keep him safe and knowing the man you loved was still in their. Mike, Wolife and yourself moved away from the city.

➤Wendigo!Mike is rather tall gaining another foot, rather thin his old clothes tend to drape over his body {{ you think it’s rather cute }}

➤ Wendigo!Mike’s teeth would be much like Josh, though he’s rather self conscious of his looks. Whenever he does go out with you he tends to wear a medical mask.

➤Wendigo!Mike is very protect over you,when you go out alone you know that he is lurking in the shadows. If some guy is hitting on you, he lets out a low growl to let them know who you belong too.

➤Wendigo!Mike does love you, he likes to nuzzle your neck a lot. Maybe even give you small nips here and there.

➤Wendigo!Mike tries his best to leave his scent on you, if you’re covered in his cologne then you have a better chance of guys leaving you alone.
