Could I request something fluffy with Bam where he and the female reader get married? You write soft moments so well, takes the asshole out of him
Nice Day for a White Wedding
Preparing for a wedding isn’t easy, especially considering who you were getting hitched to.
Bam Margera X Fem!Reader
(Fluff)
919 Words
Warnings: Suggestive content, crude language
An: Thank you so much for the request!! Seeing as how my shorter fics are all pretty successful, I thought I’d shake up my pattern of writing these behemoths :] A lot of this was based off of Unholy Union which i haven’t seen a ton of content for on here! I have never personally gotten married so I hope this is all pretty accurate to the experience! Thank you for the request and please keep sending them in!!
You had been breaking your back with this wedding and all Bam had done thus far was screw around with his buddies and play hooky from your meetings with the planner. Every time you tried to covertly bring up how you were thinking of tiger lilies for the center pieces or which catering companies you were considering, he’d flat out ignore you, instead opting to re-grip his skateboard or touch up his black nail polish with a sharpie marker. Once, after you pestered him about the guest list for the third time that day, he grabbed the notebook you were jotting down ideas on and tossed it into the fireplace. Even though it was a joke, you still told him off for that. It seemed that you were the only person taking this whole marriage thing seriously and time was ticking.
“Come on, Bam! The wedding’s in less than a month.” You groaned, leaning over the back of the couch to peer over his shoulder as his eyes were fixed on whatever was on tv, “You gotta get your shit together.” The last time the two of you did anything related to the wedding together was a month ago when Bam drove you up to New York to go dress shopping at this fancy department store, despite April’s protests about seeing the bride before the big day. There were stars in your eyes as you tried on dresses for hours, oohing and aahing at all the fancy gowns that looked straight out of a fairytale. Bam didn’t mind waiting because he got to look at you half naked.
But shopping for a tux didn’t provide as much eye candy as dress shopping and your boyfriend knew this. Bam groaned in frustration, rolling his eyes childishly, “Okay, fine! Fine! Let’s go then.” He tumbled off of the couch and went to put on a coat. You didn’t mean that you needed to leave right that second, but you weren’t going to say anything.
There was this tux store at King of Prussia mall in downtown Philly that you ended up at- nothing insanely fancy, but it would do. Bam was dragging his feet as you held him by the arm when a nervous sales associate came up to the two of you. “Welcome! Is there anything I can help the two of you with?” You elbowed Bam whose eyes were glazed over, too busy thinking about when he grabbed your ass last month in the fitting room when the measurement lady wasn’t looking. He blinked awake, clearing his throat, “Well, we’re looking for something in, like- a purple velvet? Maybe red?”
“No, we are not!” You playfully swatted Bam’s arm and he cracked a smile as you scolded him, “You are not going to wear a velvet tux to my wedding- not unless you’re gettin’ hitched to Ville.” Since the beginning, he had been begging you to get that Finnish rock star he was enamored with for the reception, so you had been teasing Bam about ditching you for him at the altar. He chuckled, pretending to consider the prospect, “Okay, fine! Well, maybe…no!” The sales associate cleared his throat, stuck in the middle of all of this, “Uh…do you think we could get the gentleman’s measurements first?”
The two of you were ushered into a fancy looking back room with lots of mahogany cabinets and tall mirrors. A serious looking man walked in after you who you assumed was a tailor as you took a seat on a bench at one end of the room with a smirk, watching. Bam awkwardly followed his deadpan instructions as he got measured- take off your shoes, stand with your feet together, turn this way.
Leaning down, the tailor guy wordlessly looped the yellow measuring tape between your boyfriend’s thighs and you could’ve sworn you heard a yelp from Bam as the tape was yanked tight. He popped up onto his toes and the man, who was at about crotch level at this point, spoke with absolute sincerity, “Can you please try to stand still, sir?” You couldn’t help but let a snicker escape at the sight of the red on your boyfriend's cheeks as he sighed, muttering something under his breath. Bam turned to you and mouthed something about the guy touching his balls and you mouthed back how a lot of people have touched his balls and this isn’t any different. Rolling his eyes at your response, you chalked it up as karma from the time he giggled when the fitting lady said your bust measurements out loud.
The rest of the fitting went off without a hitch and you eventually settled on a somewhat sensible black tux- on the condition that Bam could invite all of his idiot friends to be the groomsmen. Both of you headed out to the parking lot to load your purchases in, you bending to hook the wire coat hanger the suit was on to one of those handles in the car before getting into the passenger seat, “You know, I’m looking at invitations tomorrow if you’d wanna come.” Sliding in the driver's seat, your boyfriend shook his head, smiling, “You can do whatver you want- I don’t really give a fuck about that shit…” He leaned over the center council maybe a couple inches from your face, “I just wanna marry you.” Closing the distance, he pressed his lips against yours, kissing you sweetly, exactly the way he couldn’t wait to at the altar.

Promises Made, Promises Kept
Book: Open Heart (Post-Series)
Pairing: Ethan Ramsey x F!MC (Kaycee)
Rating: Teen
Warning: Character death
Category: Angsty fluff
Summary: Ethan starts a sweet tradition for his new wife, and it comes with a promise.
Words: Approx. 2300
A/N: Day 10 of @creativepromptsforwriting 's 30-Day Writing Challenge: Use the title: Promises made, promises kept. Also participating in @choicesjanuarychallenge Day 6 - Always
Their appointment ended fifteen minutes ago, but they weren't done quite yet. An elegantly dressed woman approached their well-appointed table with a smile.
“These are the final three dishes you can sample today. But, if you’re not satisfied, I’d be happy to set up another appointment for you.”
Ethan did his best to contain his annoyance. He wanted this done already, and the time restraints seemed preposterous to him, especially since they had booked the last appointment of the day. But he held it in; after all, he wanted this to be a happy experience for his fiancee. So instead of voicing his true opinion, he merely smiled.
“I’m sure we can make a selection based on what we’ve sampled,” Kaycee smiled. “Isn’t that right, Ethan?”
“Mmm. I suppose."
“Then, I’ll give you some privacy to try these. If you have any questions, I’m right outside the door.”
The clicking of her heels echoed as she walked across the empty room. Ethan and Kaycee waited silently until they heard the door click behind her to dig in.
“So!” she beamed, rubbing her hands together with delight. “What do we have now!”
“It looks like coq au vin, almond-crusted salmon, and chateaubriand.”
“All fancier than anything this Philly girl ever thought she’d serve at her wedding, but let’s give it a go!”
“You act as if you were raised solely on Geno’s Philly steaks and pretzels.”
“You’re not far off,” she giggled.
“Really? Should I get your mother on the phone? I’m sure she’d have a different story.”
“She sure would,” Kaycee laughed. “And it would end with her yelling at me, so, please…. Let’s not do that.”
“I love having something to hold over your head,” he winked, lifting a forkful of the coq au vin to his mouth. Biting into the succulent morsel of meat, a slow groan usually reserved for smaller venues escaped him.
“That good?” Kaycee grinned. “I haven’t heard that sound from you since our day off together last week.”
“Mmm. If I could find a way to bring those two things together, I might just believe in heaven. You’ve got to try this.”
Kaycee stuck her fork into the dish and took a bite. Her eyes widened, signaling her approval, though more tepid than Ethan's.
“You don’t like it?” He asked.
“No, I do! It’s really good, it’s just….”
“Just?”
“I don’t know, it’s not what I pictured having at our wedding.”
“Then what do you picture?”
She closed her eyes and tossed her head back, biting her lower lip as she appeared deep in thought.
“I know! My mom’s Braciole. I know it’s not standard wedding fare, and there is no way I can ask my mother to make it, but….”
“I don’t care what standard is. If you wanted Big Macs and fries served, that’s what we’d be having….”
“Well…” she interrupted.
“I was exaggerating! But Braciole… we could do that. Let’s ask the caterer if they could prepare some for us to test… on another day, of course.”
“Of course!” She smiled. “You wouldn’t mind?”
“Not at all! I just want you happy.”
“OK, and if we like it… Braciole and coq au vin it is!”
“Both?”
“Sure,” she shrugged. “It’s good to give people a choice… and the way you moaned over that coq au vin? It’ll get me raring to go for our wedding night.”
“Well,” he chuckled. “I think our menu is just about finalized.”
~~~~~
A little over one year later…
The kitchen was filled with a lovely aroma as pots and pans bubbled with the offerings of that evening’s feast. He was a bit frazzled, even though everything was well under control. Everything needed to be perfect tonight. The dining room was already set with… the table adorned with the exact same linens, china, crystal, and silverware from their wedding the year before. When he called the caterer to inquire about renting the items, they thought it was so endearing they offered to prepare their wedding meal, but Ethan assured him he had that under control.
He jumped when his phone rang… it was Sienna, who had been kind enough to get Kaycee out of the house for the afternoon, advising they’d soon be home. He thanked her profusely and met his wife at the door, a blindfold in hand. She teased him, asking if he planned on getting that kinky so soon? But as he snuggly tied the knot behind her head and led her to the dining room with a smile, it was a definite possibility, he assured, but later.
Once they were standing in front of the candlelit table, he uncovered her eyes and smiled when she gasped.
“Ethan, everything is beautiful! Wait, are these the dishes we had at our wedding?”
“They are. I got everything we used that day, from the napkins to the candle holders.”
Words failed her as she turned to him with a bright smile. “Ethan, this is so… I don’t know what to say!”
“You don’t need to say anything, but I do want you to eat,” he pulled back the chair, and once she was settled him, dinner was served.
About an hour later, the couple was relaxing on the sofa. A very full but content, Kaycee rested her head on Ethan’s shoulder.
“I can’t believe you learned to make my Mom’s Brasiole!” She said as she rubbed her belly, “And the caterer’s coq au vin too!”
“Well, I love cooking, but even if I didn’t, I’d learn how to make 30 different meals if it meant seeing you this happy.”
“I am happy, and not just because the food was downright orgasmic. But because you did this for me. You have no idea how much this means or how loved I feel.”
Ethan leaned over and gave his wife a gentle kiss.
“Good, because you are loved. I’ll tell you what, this is our new tradition! I’ll make this every year on our anniversary. What do you say?”
“Every anniversary? Won’t you want a break once in a while?”
“Nope, what I want is to make you smile. So, every year?”
“Sounds like you’ve got a set date, Dr. Ramsey!” She stood up from the couch and extended her hand with a smile. “Now, why don’t we put that blindfold to better use?”
~~~~~
As the years passed, Ethan kept his promise no matter how they celebrated the day, and their celebrations took on many forms. Some years, work kept them busy, and it felt like just another day until Kaycee returned home to the delicious aroma that filled the air. Other times, it took a little creativity for Ethan to accomplish his task. She thought they’d surely skip the tradition the year they spent their anniversary in Tuscany. But Ethan was undeterred. He couldn’t make the meal at their hotel, so he rented a nearby house for the day and surprised his wife with their traditional dinner.
But some years weren’t quite that fancy. One of Kaycee’s favorites of all was the year she and Ethan were on parental leave together after Emma's birth. With the baby finally asleep, the exhausted mom collapsed on the couch. As she was trying to recall if she had showered that day or was it the day before? Ethan pulled up two tray tables and presented two paper plates with their special meal.
“Ethan!” she gasped. “What is this?”
“You didn’t forget our anniversary, did you?” He frowned.
“Considering I said happy anniversary before, I think it’s fair to say I remembered! But… how did you find time to do this? We have a newborn. I never expected….”
“I made everything the other day when your Mom was in town.”
“You mean the day we took Emma out of the house so you could get some much-needed rest?”
Ethan merely shrugged.
“I froze all the food after. I knew I’d be able to heat it up for you today.”
“But you were supposed to rest that day!”
“I did… a little, but it was more important to keep my promise to my wife.”
She moved her hand to the back of his head and pulled him in for a tender kiss.
“How’d I ever get so lucky?” she asked.
“If you ask me, I’m the one.”
~~~~~
She knew the day wouldn’t be easy, but she promised herself she’d try not to cry. She’d do her best to be happy; she knew that’s what he’d want her to do. She had been staying with Emma and her family and didn’t want to make a fuss or bring everyone down. Her daughter was well aware of what day it was but decided to follow her mother’s lead. Finishing the dishes, she saw Kaycee reading in her favorite chair and smiled.
“Hey, Mom,” she asked softly. “Is there anything special you’d like to do today? It’s just you and me, so I’m happy to do whatever you want.”
“Well, that new pizza place opened in town, and I thought we could order from there tonight, my treat. What do you say?”
“That's a possibility,” Emma nodded. “What time do you want to have dinner?”
“I’d like to take a nap now, so how about around six.”
“That sounds perfect,” Emma grinned. “I’ll be sure to get you up if you sleep through the alarm.”
“I’ve only done that once, my dear,” Kaycee laughed.
“Even so.”
Several hours later, Kaycee woke up. She wasn’t as quick on her feet anymore, but she managed to get down the stairs alone and found her daughter setting the dining room table with her best china.
“That’s a little fancy for pizza, don’t you think?” Kaycee smiled.
Caught off guard, Emma jumped. “Mom! You scared me. You’re up earlier than I expected.”
“I had to be. I wasn’t going to sleep through the alarm and have you gloating,’ Kaycee winked. “But you haven’t answered my question. Why so fancy for pizza?”
Her daughter’s face softened as she smiled a tiny grin. “Because we’re not having pizza, Mom. Why don’t you sit right here.”
With her heart beginning to race a little faster, Kaycee sat down. Moments later, Emma emerged from the kitchen, two plates in hand.
“One for you,” she beamed, “and one for me.”
Tears rushed to Kaycee’s eyes, and she let out a gasp. “It’s… it’s….”
“Happy Anniversary, Mom,” Emma said, leaning over and taking her mother in her arms. “I know it’s got to be so hard without Dad here, but the love you two shared, it still deserves to be honored.”
“I miss him,” Kaycee wept softly. “But all I have to do is look at you, and I know part of him is still here. But my sweet girl, how did you know….”
“Well, I may not have followed you and Dad into the medical field, but I wouldn't be such a good lawyer if I wasn't observant, you know. And, if watching Dad make this dinner for you every year was not enough….”
Overcome with emotion, Emma covered her mouth and closed her eyes. She promised herself she wouldn't cry, at least not yet.
“When we were at the beach house last summer after Daddy got the diagnosis… he told me all about this tradition. He asked if I’d learn these recipes, and of course, I agreed. He made me make them a dozen times until he said I finally got it right. Then I promised him I’d make this dinner for you every year on your anniversary, and it’s a promise I intend to keep.”
Tears rushed down Kaycee’s cheeks as she beckoned her daughter near. The two women held each other for a long while until Emma broke the tension.
“Mom, the food’s gonna get cold, and if I have to put it in the microwave….”
“Oh,” Kaycee laughed, “if you do that, your Dad will do whatever he needs to send a storm our way!”
Clasping her daughter's face in her hands, Kaycee smiled, and Emma swore her mother looked twenty years younger.
“No more tears, my sweet girl. Let’s eat. Let’s enjoy this beautiful meal together like my Ethan would want us to.”
Emma nodded and opened a bottle of wine. Pouring two glasses, she handed one to her mom.
“To Daddy, and you, and the love that led to me being here. I love you, Mom.”
“You’re the best of both of us, my dear. Thank you for all of this.”
The two women enjoyed the rest of their meal with smiles and laughter, nary a tear. And that night, while Kaycee showered, Emma finished one last task. Sneaking out just in time, she leaned against the door and smiled.
“I told you I’d get it done, Dad,” she whispered, then snuck off down the hall to the love of her own.
Kaycee shuffled out of the bathroom and toward her bed, noticing a bright red envelope before she sat down. Taking a deep breath, she held it close to her heart for a long while. Her frail hands trampled as she broke the seal. Then, her gentle smile grew three times brighter. She’d know that handwriting anywhere.
My Dearest Kaycee,
If you’re reading this, it’s our first anniversary apart, and I know it's a lot to ask, but I'd like for you not to be sad. While we may not be together, neither are we apart. Love like ours is rare, and it would take much more than death to separate us. So if you're ever missing me, spend time in the garden we planted together and listen to the birds that flock there. I will be in their song. Or stand at the beach where we shared so many beautiful days and watch the waves roll in. I will be the sea air that surrounds you. Or, best of all, look into the eyes of our Emma, the greatest gift you ever gave me, and you’ll know I am there.
She promised to help keep our tradition going. I promised you long ago to always make sure you knew how loved you were on this day, and, my precious Kaycee, a promise I make to you, is a promise that must be kept. Death be damned.
I love you for all time and eternity.
Until we meet again, my love.
Ethan
Kaycee rolled over and wrapped her blanket tightly around her. Though she missed him terribly, she smiled as she heard her grandchildren laughing as their parents tucked them in just a room away... and she knew, he was there. He was in their laughter, he was in her tears, he was in everything that surrounded her, but most of all, he was in her heart, and that was where he'd always stay.
Finding and Booking the Right String Quartet
Define Your Requirements
Imagine the kind of atmosphere you want; formal or laid-back? And what music style are you into; classical or more modern tunes? Also, think about how you want the quartet to be involved - are they the main show or just background music? Of course, you should consider your budget too. And don't forget to pick a date, time, and how long you want them to perform. Once you know all this, you can find the perfect string quartet that matches your vision.
Research and Ask For Recommendations
Start by checking out some Philly string quartet websites and their social media pages. Look for videos or audio clips of their performances so you can see if they fit your style. Don't forget to read what other people say about them in customer reviews. You can also ask around your buddies, family, or co-workers if they know any quartets they'd recommend. Getting personal recommendations is worth it because you trust those people. Don't be shy to ask event planners or venues in your area for advice. They've probably worked with some quartets and can share some knowledge.
Check Their Repertoire and Versatility
It's critical to know if the group can mix genres and keep the celebration going. Look for musicians that can perform everything from classical jams to contemporary favorites - the more versatile, the better! That way, they can cater to everyone's tastes while also perfectly matching the tone of your event. Don't be afraid to ask for their song list or to make specific song requests. A quartet that can adapt and perform a wide choice of music will keep the party going and your guests happy all night.
Experience and Professionalism
You want a quartet that knows what they're doing and has performed at a variety of events such as weddings, business functions, and celebrations. And, of course, professionalism is essential. They should arrive on time, dressed to impress, and be courteous and graceful. A really professional quartet will listen to what you want, tailor their performance, and produce some serious musical magic.
Good Communication
Nobody enjoys waiting for answers, do they? A good quartet will be completely open and honest about their services, availability, and cost, so you know precisely what to anticipate. And, as you organize your event, they should be open to discussing all of your song preferences and specific requests. It all comes down to making sure they understand what you want and making your musical ambitions a reality.
By following these tips, you increase your chances of finding the right string quartet that will create a memorable experience for your event.
Hey this is random and I don't want to bother you but I'm kinda new to the nhl fandom and I really like your blog! I was hoping to get some pointers on how to get more into the fandom, learn the basics/history, etc and you seem to know a lot :)
Hello, absolutely no problem, and thank you!
Welcome to the NHL and NHL Tumblr! It's kind of hectic around here, especially during the playoffs, expansion drafts, and trade season, but I'm so glad that you're here!
So when I started liking hockey and getting into the NHL fandom, it was really important for me to find like-minded blogs because there can be discourse that feels a bit discouraging if you don't have places that you can find comfort in. If you've found a few blogs of your team(s) that you like, I would for sure go into their search and make sure that they don't have anything from previous posts that feel off to you. It's never fun to get the surprise of liking a blog and suddenly having vitriol on your feed that you weren't prepared for.
The first thing I did when joining the fandom was to learn everything I could about hockey, if you already have that under your belt, great! It's super helpful when talking to other fans to be accurate because a lot of people who are into sports are very particular about sports knowledge. For the most part, and I'm generalizing, it really doesn't matter, and they won't gatekeep you from having an enjoyable time because we all just really want to talk about how much we love our favs, but sometimes it sucks because people ask you to prove yourself. I usually just ignore those people, because like I said the vast majority don't care, but it's also good to have confidence in your opinions and knowing what you're talking about so no misinformation is happening. If you don't know a lot about hockey, I would look up the rules and watch a few games to immerse yourself, and it also helps to follow the hockey journalist and team accounts on Twitter for updates on players, trades, and anything happening in the NHL world.
Depending on which team or teams or individual players that you like, there are literally endless blogs that you can find on Tumblr to cater to you. I'm mainly a Hawks blog, so my favs, and the least dramatic blogs that I follow are @kikiskeysgame who has info about players and does breakdowns before and after games and @allthebros who has a lot of Toews/Kane posts and awesome GIFS from games and events. Every team has some incredible people like this who are really fun to follow, so just check out the team and player tags and you should be able to find some people to watch. A lot of blogs also do live blogging for games, so watch out for those too!
Like I said before, it might feel like a ton of people are gatekeeping if you are new to the blog scene, but it's really just a small percentage that are really loud. So if you like multiple teams/players on different teams, please do not be afraid to post about anything and everything that you love! I guarantee there are other blogs on here that share your passion.
As for the history of the fandom, I would say it doesn't really matter if you know what has gone on because, as you probably know, the rivalries on the teams usually carry over. So Philly/Pitts has beef, Van/Chi has beef, Pitts/Wash has beef, etc. and usually so do their fans. Sometimes that's not true, and that should totally not stop you from liking both sides. You're allowed to like what and whoever you like, and screw anyone who says you can't. Also if there's a reference to anything from a blog that doesn't make any sense, don't be afraid to ask, we are all more than happy to have asks to answer!
What else... Um, drama is usually over pretty quick, if someone says that a player is problematic do your own research because people can be bias, if your team is out of the playoffs or doesn't make it in that year people will post sad things that make it seem like they'll never get in again, but that isn't true, and even though players move teams, especially if they move to teams that your mutuals don't like, that doesn't mean you have to stop liking them, they're just being dramatic. The All Star games don't matter, but everyone seems to have fun. Everyone 'boos' Gary Bettmen at the draft, the cup presentation, and pretty much anytime we see him. You can usually find someone on here that has a link to stream the games if you don't have access. And truly, off-season on Tumblr is just a bunch of players looking dumb and having fun, and everyone goes crazy for summer pics, stories, babies, and weddings.
Also, it costs nothing to be nice, and I feel like that's something a lot of people forget when they're in a blog space, but it's important to remember that.
I think my final and most important piece of advice is love the time that you have, the teams that you love, and the players that you can because they don't stay there forever. The players leave consistently, the teams change all the time, and time seems to speed up without you noticing because truly it is incredibly fun, and that always seems to make time go faster.
If I didn't answer any of the questions that you have, in this novel-esque answer, or you would like to chat or know more, please do not hesitate to ask, I am always available, and I love to talk about hockey!
Thank you again, and welcome home!
Article on Sandra Worley, second wife of Grace’s brother, John B Kelly Jr.
Bank officer to wed 'eligible bachelor'
By MARTHA E. ESPEDAHL
Staff writer
His sister is a princess and he's been touted as Philadelphia's most eligible bachelor.
On May 28 the single status will change, as John Brendon Kelly Jr., millionaire brother of Princess Grace of Monaco, marries Sandra Worley, a Wilmington bank officer, in a formal evening ceremony. It's the second marriage for the 53-year-old Kelly, who inherited his family's brick business, and the first for Miss Worley, who is 34.
“There's not that much age difference," said the bride-to-be as she discussed the forthcoming marriage, sitting at her desk in the main office of Wilmington Savings Fund Society, where she is salary and benefits officer. "And no, I've never thought what it would be like to have a princess as a sister-in-law. I just think of her as Jack's sister, Grace."
Three years ago Miss Worley volunteered to help with Channel 12's annual fund-raising auction in Philadelphia. So did super-sport Jack Kelly. They have been dating ever since.
Last week, the tall, blond Kelly asked the tall, blond Miss Worley if she would marry him. "I told him 'yes' and he then gave me this ring. It belonged to his mother," she said as she displayed the engagement ring - a large pearl surrounded by several circles of small diamonds in a platinum setting.
"Jack's family has just been wonderful to me. I just cannot say enough about how warm they are. Jack and I spend holidays with them and we see his mother at least once a week, sometimes more frequently, depending on our schedules. He has six grown children from his first marriage and everyone is so compatible," she said adjusting a white lace handkerchief in the pocket of her gray flannel suit.
The wedding will take place at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Sinkler estate in Wyndmoor. "Jack and I have been there a lot and we like the beauty and quietness of it. It has a very relaxing atmosphere and there are beautiful gardens. The wedding will be in the garden and if it should rain, we can have it inside. But because Jack is involved in so many things, we will have to keep it small and just limited to members of the family. Of course Grace and Rainier will be there. I wish we could have everyone but it's just impossible," she said in her soft, well-modulated voice.
"Next week I'm going to Philadelphia to pick a wedding dress. I have a particular dress in mind and I hope I can find it. There are just so many things to do. Invitations, caterers, flowers - it seems endless - but I will get it all done," she said.
The couple will delay their honeymoon until the first week in July, when they will fly to London for the annual Diamond Scull races at Henley-on-Thames, where Kelly's sister, Princess Grace, will present the' winners' trophies and Kelly's son, "J.B.", a 20-year-old Harvard rower, will be competing, carrying on a third-generation tradition. His grandfather was a world champion oarsman and his father was an Olympic bronze-medalist.
"No, I don't really do anything athletic, but Jack is very supportive if I want to jog and he says that maybe this summer, he will teach me to row. I enjoy watching sports. Jack and I are very supportive of Philadelphia athletics. We go to all the Eagles, Flyers, Phillies and 76ers games as well as the rowing events on the Schuylkill. Of course, Jack is back into rowing," she said.
The conversation always comes back to the most important man in her life. "I respect him so much and he has done so much for others. He has a basic love of people and especially the youth. Why, he will go down on a weekend and help the Vesper Boat Club kids clean up the place or the boats. And if his schedule isn't full, he rarely declines helping with any organization," she said.
Speaking of children, Kelly expects to become a grandfather for the first time, before his wedding. "His oldest daughter, Anne, lives in London and is expecting in May. So she won't be able to attend the wedding, but we will see her and the baby when we go to England in July," Miss Worley said.
The bride-to-be is planning to continue her job after the wedding. She attended the University of Delaware and now attends Neuman College in Aston, Pa., where she expects to be graduated with a degree in business administration next year.
Miss Worley said, "I've been with WSFS 11 years and I'm active in several banking-related organizations, including the National Association of Bank Women, I'm vice president of the Professional Businesswomen of Delaware and on the board of New Castle County Pension Fund among others. I'm also a member of the Junior League of Wilmington."
Miss Worley's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Worley, live in Spokane, Wash., and have not met their future son-in-law, but they plan to visit here before the wedding. "They won't be disappointed," she said. Her father is a retired Army intelligence officer and the family moved often while Miss Worley was growing up. She was born in Chicago.
Because Miss Worley is escorted by Kelly to so many fund-raising events, banquets and galas, she must maintain a rather extensive evening wardrobe. "I shop here and in Philadelphia and I basically like tailored clothes. I prefer the calf-length for most things but I always wear a long gown for a formal ball or dinner.
"No, it doesn't bother me to wear the same thing twice, I am honored just to be there and because I'm supportive of the cause, I am not concerned if I'm wearing the same dress. But I also try to buy clothes that I can wear to the office, perhaps change the blouse or accessories and go out that evening, looking appropriate," she said.
When Miss Worley and Kelly do have a rare night with nothing on the agenda, they "prefer to spend it alone together over a quiet dinner of something very basic, like a salad. Nothing fancy."
After the wedding, the commuter dating will be over. The couple will live in Kelly's Philadelphia apartment, right across the street from his business, Kelly for Brickwork, the firm that earned millions for its founder, Kelly's father, the late John B. Kelly.
Event Management Companies Ideas to leave a long-lasting first impression
One of my biggest annoying thing is the way some event management companies approach first-time attendees. Being intentional event planners in Dubai and having a plan for how you welcome someone who is experiencing your conference for the first time is not only the right thing to do, it’s also a smart attendee acquisition strategy. It’s a pivotal time to onboard and help them make connections that will last throughout the conference, and, hopefully, throughout the years as they become repeat attendees.
No One Should Eat Alone
Take a page from the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society’s (RAPS) playbook for their recent annual meeting in Philly. They rubbed their attendance data and realized that 31% of their attendees were solo (the only person from their organization). RAPS already had a strong first-timer experience, but this year they did a special reach out to those attending solo and invited them to join their renamed Convergence Conference Kick-off, which happened the hour before the opening reception. Their goal was that no one walked into the reception alone.
The event management companies often rotate who gets to attend annually from the team.
Deliver Networking Value
The real secret sauce for RAPS’ successful conference kick-off was the 40 high-influencing, well-connected and long-standing attendees they recruited to act as table hosts and connectors during the session. With a host mentality, these troupers actively helped connect 300 attendees to information, people and resources, which not only helped them navigate their conference better but made them feel welcomed into the community.
Anyone experiencing your conference for the first time or as a solo is looking for opportunities for facilitated networking. They desperately hope to make new connections, friendships, and allies that will last beyond the conference. The more event management companies can assist with that on day one, the better their first impression is. Throwing them into a large ballroom for the opening function where they don’t know anyone, and hoping some alcohol will help, is delusional thinking.
RAPS opened their session with an engaging ice breaker using Event management companies to collect cards to facilitate networking and connection. The entire hour of their kick-off was focused on helping attendees identify what problems/challenges they were facing at work and how the conference community, education and resource experts present could support them over the three-day conference and beyond. They also had an engaging member resources area on the show floor where many of those 300 voluntarily went to learn more about RAPS.
Stop Talking at Them
The focus should be on conversation and connection among attendees, not a bombardment of multiple one-way orientation presentations. Vision Next, one of the top leading event management companies proved that by actively connecting their first-timers and solos through introductions to high-value members, who helped them in small groups with hacks and event planning ideas for navigating their conference better, was one of their best recruitment and retention efforts to date.
Vision Next is of the best event management companies in Dubai, UAE. We provide the best event management services, corporate events, wedding events, gala nights and much more. We have the best ambiance and catering for your guests.
Philly Wedding Planner: Isabel & Sol
Isabel and Sol were married on March 26th, 2017 at the German Society of Pennsylvania. The ceremony took place in the stunning Joseph Horner Library where guests sat on antique wooden chairs surrounded by beautiful historical bookcases.
Isabel and Sol come from two different backgrounds, so of course they included both of their cultural traditions. A couple of unique cultural traditions they included in their ceremony included:
The Ketubah (a type of marriage contract) is signed by the couple, the witnesses and the rabbi to confirm their marriage
Bridesmaids walked down the aisle with Chinese fans and masquerade masks.
Groomsmen walked down the aisle with ribbon twirlers.
The couple exchanges their vows underneath the Chuppah, which is held up by family to show their love and support for the marriage.
The reception was then held in The Barthelmes Auditorium at the German Society of Pennsylvania. This historical room had four beautiful chandeliers, a stage and a 13 foot wet bar near the main entrance. The decor in their room consisted of long rectangle tables with floor length ivory linens and beautiful greenery centerpieces with touches of white floral. Each table also had white cards with gold tin foil writing as their table numbers.
A couple of highlights from Isabel and Sol’s wedding were:
The Hora tradition where the bride and groom are lifted up in chairs, as guests celebrate
The tender speeches from the bridal party and parents
The incredible live band that kept the party going all night
Vendors:
Venue: German Society Pennsylvania
Beauty: Mockingbird Salon
Cake: The Frosted Fox Cake Shop
Catering: Farmers Keep
Entertainment: Matt Keppler
Floral: Falls Flowers LLC
Officiant: Rabbi Daniel Brenner
