@moon-the-delusional
you've enabled me into posting my full "Queen songs that could be in wwry but aren't ig" :]
DREAMERS BALL: Kashoggi death scene fr fr
FLICK OF THE WRIST: "flick of the wrist and you're dead, baby! Blow him a kiss and you're mad!" In my mind this is a Scaramouche Kashoggi duet, where they sing about their respective love interests with different perspectives. Also to be clear they aren't like aware they're singing together yk. Like the opening to Into The Woods
DEATH ON TWO LEGS: "feel good? Are you satisfied? Do you feel like? Suicide? Is your conscious alright? Does it plague you at night? Do you feel good? Feel good?" Killer Queen has a funky little morality crisis? Maybe? Tbh this song is really wwry but I can't quite pin it down, lmk if you have ideas
SWEET LADY: "you call me up and treat me like dog, you call me up and tear me up inside, you've got me on a lead" Kashoggi <3 I am aware I'm killershoggi trash but hey they put Another One Bites the Dust on there not me
LOVE OF MY LIFE: "love of my life, can't you see? Bring it back, bring it back, don't take it away from me because you don't know... what it means to me" Oz post-brainwash unable to remember Brit but still mourning in a way she can't understand ^_^ if this was actually in there, I would probably only put one verse in, and have the accompanying piano only kinda following her as she confusedly attempts to figure out what she's singing, before she gives up and goes to do some globalsoft stuff.
MORE OF THAT JAZZ: "rock n roll just pays the bills, only our team is the real team. Bring out the dogs, get on your feet, lay on the floor. Can't help thinking that I've heard that line before." This one is the villain song in my reverse au hehe >:] Galileo and Scaramouche hop in for a few lines, but it's mainly ensemble (including KQ)
MACHINES (BACK TO HUMANS): "it's a machines world! Don't tell me I ain't got no soul. When the machines take over, it ain't no place for rock n roll" reverse Kashoggi intro song? 👀
IM GOING SLIGHTLY MAD: "it finally happened, oh yes, it finally happened! I'm slightly mad!" Reverse Oz and Brit bein' cute romance song. This hypothetically replaces I Want It All
PLAY THE GAME: "open up your mind and let me step inside, rest your weary head and let your heart decide" Killer Queen song!! Is it reverse au? Is it normal? Yes :]

we will rock you is the musical ever. all musical instruments are banned. all songs are computer generated. if ur ugly society rejects you. everyone else has to be exactly the same. the public are addicted to the internet. no need to think no need to feel when only cyber space is real. theres a resistance that loves music. theres a whole mournful solo about dead famous musicians called ‘only the good die young’. people get tortured for singing and playing instruments. theres a chosen one prophecy. galileo is the main character. theres a rock/alt makeover scene. evil lady villain in charge sings another one bites the dust and brainwashes her fucking assistant. people are called websites not names. they live in a ‘perfect world’.

Things people didn't ask for: WWRY headcanons that are so true and make so much sense for no reason
Starting off pretty obv with most of them being neurodivergent!! Esp Gaz and Scara my ADHD/Autistic duo!!
Also I feel pretty obv with Meat and Brit basically adopting all the bohemians as their own kids, except big macca who's the weird uncle. They def took all of them under their wing, including some of the (who I see as) younger ones like Cliff, Charlotte etc.
Brit is a total softie, especially for his wife Miss Loaf🥺🥺 he likes to pretend he's a big macho man but he's type that would bake cookies and cry if they burnt. He def treats Meat like a total queen, and pampers her religiously - and he never wants her to go scavenging with him in case she gets hurt.
With the amount of canon bi and gender non conforming rep that we have in the show, i definitely don't think scara's "they think I'm a lesbian because I don't wear pastels' line should go unnoticed. She definitely likes girls and I do def headcanon that Gazza is basically her only exception because she just radiates queer vibes to me. And also maybe demigirl suits her too - as I really do feel like she feels quite disconnected from what is regarded on planet mall as 'feminine' and 'girly'. (Or maybe I'm projecting)
Gaz is Bi, let's be real.
Little more out there now;
Gazza radiates MtF vibes I cannot explain he just does don't @ me okay.
Pop is Scara's dad this is probably only just me but I got such father/daughter vibes from them and seeing as we never met anyone's parents I feel like it's super up to interpretation but for me it just feels right but he doesn't realise it til yeaaaars after they meet, I.e: "I used to know a gorgeous chick that looked just like you, crazy lady. I knocked her up and after I started working at globalsoft full time never saw her again - I wonder what happened to that ki- *oh*" I dunno it'd just be funny considering everything he says to her when they meet (in both the 2002 productions and more recent ones).
Speaking on the pop subjects that man has stories to TELL and drops lore like atomic freaking bombs. "Oh yeah I used to know KQ really well... REALLY well *wiggling his eyebrows which is met with a chorus of 'ews' from the bohemians*" "oh yeah I know Commander K, very commanding and stuck up, and quick frankly terrible in bed" (because let's be honest, pop has tried everything with anyone, and him an Khash were so roommates when they were as High School).
Brit has never killed anyone. Ever. He makes people think he has, but he once stepped on a bug and sobbed, for hours. Meat had to makeshift a funeral for the poor thing 100% and while Gaz is enthralled by when Brit tells a tale of how he "took a life" the whole gang has to hold back giggles cause they're taken right back to him sobbing on the dirt outside the heartbreak.
Scara got most of the stuff for her act one outfit by sneaking into the archives and finding so much fabric that wasn't available to the public for sale in the malls. My girl is smart and scrappy and def was like the OG goths, dyeing, repurposing and making her own clothes all the time.
Let me know your WWRY headcanons🫶🫶

Dream Animated Movie Musical Tournament Seed Round Group E
For information on this tournament as well as the seed poll for group A go here
Why these musicals should be animated movies (in my opinion)
Jekyll & Hyde: it's a classic story, its gothic nature would make for a very cool "dark animated movie musical" a la The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and it'd be a lot easier on the actor playing both leads if they didn't have to play them both physically in the movie too
She Loves Me: another one where the musical might be wholesome and old-fashioned enough that I feel like it'd work better as a cartoon especially given there's been at least one live-action movie with its sort of premise that's more famous than the musical
Assassins: given the structure of the show animation (and the stylistic opportunities it presents for things that'd break the budget or be impossible in live-action) might be the only way to give a movie something that wouldn't just be solved by a pro shot, plus there's recent events for both sides (aka not just the one you're thinking of) that might make an Assassins movie any time in the semi-near future feel "too soon" without the distance it being adult-animation-but-not-in-the-juvenile-way could add
The Book Of Mormon: it makes so many freaking Disney allusions it seems only natural it should get a movie in a similar style (imagine how insane that could make "Spooky Mormon Hell Dream" look) and that could also add room to add some somehow-visually-represented-narrative-bias on behalf of the elders (that gets removed as they have stuff in common with the villagers) or something to account for some of the inaccuracies in the depictions of Uganda that can't just be accounted for by "it's a musical, shut up"
The School Of Rock: not only is this one of the many distance-the-movie-musical-from-the-movie things (don't blame me, blame whoever decides to keep making musicals from movies) but the movie's old enough it could use a fresh coat of paint and with the added young-people-friendliness of it being animated this could be a bona fide phenomenon among a certain crowd of young people (it's just who the hell do you get to voice Dewey that could fill the shoes of both Jack Black and Alex Brightman)
We Will Rock You: (what do you know, back to back "power of rock and roll" musicals) it'd have enough popularity to deserve a movie despite the obscurity of its story due to being a YA dystopian jukebox musical built around Queen songs but why it should be animated is the world it builds might be a little too technically intensive for live-action
Grease: classic musical (even if it might not be as family-friendly as you remember) but A. many people have kinda thought in hindsight some of the cast of the original movie were not as great a singer as the movie wants you to think they are and B. the movie leaves a lot about the musical on the proverbial cutting room floor and a new take could be a little more faithful

Hello. She returns from the abyss to recommend you watch this.
Ben Elton could talk for England; the sky is blue. He's so passionate and creative, truly inspiring to be honest. They only actually get to talk about We Will Rock You and The Young Ones in this, but still! There is some interesting TYO adjacent insight, such as Ben being responsible for Rick's political side whilst Rik brought the crap anarchist poet who loved Cliff Richard; Rik and Ben having a game called Double to come up with double entendres; Ben regretting Vyvyan's Good Life rant a bit in retrospect; and Ade being perceived as intimidating and standoffish when in actuality he's just quiet. I remember an interview where Jennifer Saunders mentions people having a similar intimidating perception of her, even though it's just that she's shy, so perhaps that's part of what drew them to one another?
Rob Brydon is a very good interviewer; I'd definitely recommend checking out his podcast in general. He's interviewed lots of his fellow comics. He hints at the end of this that he'd like to interview Ben again, so they can talk about more of his stuff (Blackadder mayhaps? 🙏). I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for that!

Dream Animated Movie Musical Tournament Round 1 Match 25
two shows metaphorically guaranteed to get you dancing in the aisles led by two autistic-y artistic-y revolution sparkers, will We Will Rock You’s cyberpunk take on Queen be the champion[s] of the battle or will Hairspray’s 60s pop be the beat you can’t stop

bro i was in a production of we will rock you one time and it was so funny i had to spend so much time at the places to only go on stage briefly twice per show and sing scuffed versions of the songs (the group i was a part of did a short version of one song near the beginning and one song at the beginning of act 2)

Scaramouche: I have the sharpest memory. Name one time I forgot something.
Galileo Figaro: You left me in a Globalsoft parking lot, like, two weeks ago.
Scaramouche: I did that on purpose. Try again.
