“Does one ever get used to it?”

The question echoes into the summer night, heavy with the scent of blooming buddleias. Felix has not let go of her hand even once; she gives it a squeeze, as if to delay the inevitable separation.

“I should be the one asking you,” he remarks, his thumb drawing small circles across her skin. “You’ve worn your ring much longer than I have worn mine.”

“I wasn’t talking about the rings themselves,” she corrects. “Not exclusively, at least.”

The weight of the jewel is familiar, reassuring; it is also a burden, one she will never be able to lay down.

“All it would take to get rid of us is one crack. One snap of someone’s fingers,” she states, twisting the sigil around. “We are only one mistake away from non-existence.”

“So is everyone else around us.” He smiles, as if it was nothing. “The only difference is that we don’t get the luxury of forgetting.”

She supposes their condition is a blessing, too. Lately, too much of her time has been spent lamenting, or worse, hesitating; perhaps this is just the reminder she needed.

She stops by the corner of the park — just out of view of Tatsu. The streetlight casts a golden glow across Felix’s features, highlighting the curve of his grin, the angle of his Roman nose.

When her hand rests on his cheek, he lets out a gasp, but does not pull away.

“If this is what we’re dealing with,” she starts, heart pounding in her chest, “if we could disappear into nothingness so easily, then — I don’t want to waste the time we do have.”

Still, she debates her next move, blinking a tear away. All she needs is to hoist herself up on her tiptoes — but the effort is tremendous when she could fall once more.

When she opens her eyes again, Felix has met her halfway, his nose brushing against hers.

“I’ve spent my entire life running against the clock,” he sighs, his breath warm against her lips. “I think I was running towards you.”

One more whiff of the perfumed air, and she melts into him, leaving her doubts behind.

Decided to make this bingo card for the upcoming season as a salty and tired Triworlds and trio fan to inject some fun into a season I'm not particularly excited about. It contains things only I, and maybe like two other people, care about.

(Didn't bother labeling it as season 3 because I'll be shocked if a lot of this isn't a concern for future seasons.)

I've largely been thrilled with the amount of sister content for Adaine and Aelwyn in Junior Year considering that Aelwyn's main arc was more or less completed last season and she could have easily been benched like so many other NPCs were this season. The only thing I was hoping would come into play but didn't was the Nemesis Ward. Even if it never comes up though, I still love it so much as a point of characterization for her. That action says so much about who she is as a person. That she would take a piece of magic specifically intended for evil and make it good in the same way that her protective magic which should have been good was twisted to be used for evil the first 18 years of her life? Mwah. Chef's kiss.

Sorry I haven't been around today, got the brain fog something fierce what with the congestion and everything. So, I've been working Lohi through Hildibrand quests since it's good no think stuff and I wanted to see my boy.

I don't even know how I ended up in this Dana Scully situation, I used to believe in ghosts as a kid, they are my favorite kind of undead in literature by far, I just can't truly entertain any kind of life after death because my understanding of our existence can be summed up as 'meat briefly gifted with electricity and opinions' and yet I repeatedly find myself hands on hips contemplating some weird shit that happened in our workplace overnight while multiple employees swear to me that the place is haunted, trying to figure out if I can explain it via the cleaning crew. I'll tell you one thing though, as far as I know the building is clean, if we are haunted it is from one of those goddamn ancient books our director insists on accumulating every time another library weeds them and puts them out for offer on the consortium listserv
