Live Commentary Ohhhh, what a lovely throwback to see Wakana in her 1st album dress. She looks beautiful😍

1.��れる春 (Yureru Haru): Surprised by how much I like Wakana's high notes here. Usually I am not a huge fan. Very solid performance. 2.翼 (Tsubasa): Saku-chan's piano arrangement is lovely and Wakana is slaying as she always does with this song. MC: Pleasantly surprised to see her taking a longer break to talk to us. I feared this would be a somewhat rushed event with just a couple songs being performed. She is even reading through some of the comments. 3.愛の花 (Ai no Hana): *sobs* So happy to hear this again. It's one of my all-time favourites. Wa's voice was a bit shaky but she knocked it out of the park at the end. The oooh part killed me. Goosebumps all over. 4.アキノサクラ (Aki no Sakura): Hearing it live always makes me appreciate the song a bit more. Very nice! MC 5.オレンジ (Orange): The bridge was absolutely perfect. MC: Yay, we are gettng a Kalafina cover, honestly did not expect that. Wakana says she has a lot of fond memories of the recording when the three of them and Saku-chan all got together at the studio to record their parts. 6. 春を待つ (Haru wo Matsu): Waahhhh, this was even better than her performance from the "magic moment" live 7.標 (Shirushi): Always beautiful, especially in such an intimate setting. Her vocals are flawless here. MC: Now I need to get back to work so I can't continue watching. Will have to get back to this later. Thank God we are getting an archived version.TBC~ 8.金木犀 (Kinmokusei): First "Ai no Hana" and now "Kinmokusei"! Two of my faves. Unfortunately, this performance is a bit too shaky for me T_T Probably the weakest of this event, at least in my opinion. 9.Flag: Awwww, it's not a Wakana live without her screwing up some lyrics XD She handles it well though. She always sounds so epic at the end of this song. MC 10.magic moment: Never been a big fan of the song but this is a precious performance. The way she just couldn't figure out that final line and had to give it two tries. Poor baby!! She's so embarrassed. MC 11.そのさきへ (Sono Saki e): I kinda wish she had performed Toki wo Koeru Yoru ni (時を越える夜に) instead of this but oh well.

Anyhow, I saw your reblog and wanted to send you a note personally because...damn. I get it. I've been seeing the same...stuff around. And my extraocular muscles have been getting an EXCELLENT work-out from all the eye rolling.

So many temper tantrums. Half of them whining that CLAMP worked on something other than their preferred manga for a few years, half of them mad about...whatever exacting expectation they had for Clear Card that wasn't met.

And honestly? THESE ARE THE SAME TANTRUMS MY 3 YEAR OLD HAS.

If I dare to do something other than take her to the park we went to yesterday? Instant fit! Worst Mommy EVER!

If she gets the milk she wants in a blue cup instead of pink? DAY RUINED. She can't enjoy milk again, EVER.

I am old enough now to realize that every time a CLAMP manga ends we are going to get this same round of preschooler "BUT IT ISN'T WHAT I WANTED!" foot-stomping. And it's...fine. Whatever. But even though I expect it now I am still. so. tired. And salty. I could salt the seven seas.

So THANK YOU for taking the time to look at and put together something that really gets into what Clear Card IS and DOES. (I am looking through your blog now and I am sad I didn't find it sooner - you've got lots of great stuff here! Especially about Kaito - I do NOT understand the fandom hate??? He's obviously a tortured but ultimately good soul????) There are so many good (and fun! - I've been reading this with my 8-year-old son and he is totally into the magic of it all, even if some of the symbolism flies over his head for now) things about it that get buried under the tantrums. You know the feeling when.....you feel *seen*? You feel understood? This is what I felt when I received your ask, Dandelion! (Is it ok if I use this name?) Omg yes. a thousand times yes....you summarized pretty well what I've seen and what I think about this whole situation too. (BTW I'm a mom too and I know what you mean! 😂)

I am old enough now to realize that every time a CLAMP manga ends we are going to get this same round of preschooler "BUT IT ISN'T WHAT I WANTED!" foot-stomping.

Ever since I got on the internet, I was able only to witness the endings in "real time" of Tsubasa, Holic and Kobato, and while I don't remember much for Kobato (probably because it's so underrated and no one was reading it), I DO remember especially the uncomfortable "atmosphere" in the fandom that accompanied the last chapters of Tsubasa's serialization. I remember all the negativity, and all the exact same complaints of today with Clear Card, "it's too complex!" "this has dragged too long please END IT". It was so overwhelming that I got dragged into it too. I COMPLETELY understand what you mean. I didn't expect I'd see it again with Clear Card, but hey people can always surprise you for the worst, isn't it? So I had decided, towards the end of Clear Card, that I wouldn't let ANYONE make me go through what I went through when Tsubasa ended, and I've set limits and lines to not be crossed with everyone, even close friends. I wanted to enjoy this story in peace to be able to write about what I TRULY feel.

I am SO GLAD that you're checking the rest of my blog and that you find my posts interesting. Most of the time, especially when I talk about Kaito and Akiho in the desperate attempt to make people understand those characters a bit better, it's a bit like shouting in the wind.....but I won't stop doing it. I love those characters, and I thank CLAMP everyday for creating them, they brought so much depth and enriched CCS in a special way.

Sorry for just realizing it now, that you are the writer of one of my favorite 'Soul Eater' meta ever from a few years ago (love it so much).

Now I found your blog again through your JJK metas (new fan here, just got to JJK fandom last year)....

Can I ask something, do you think SatoSugu is queerbaiting? What do you think about Gojo and Geto's relationship as romantic subtext?

(Sorry if you don't ship them, it's just, I want to know objective pov like you that neither love nor hate Gojo and Geto as characters).

If I ask these questions to SatoSugu shipper or anti SatoSugu (Gojo/Geto hater) both of those groups are subjective to their likes and dislikes...

Also, just want to tell you, one of the main reason why I entered the fandom, is because of stsg. The fan arts and fan fictions for SatoSugu are amazing....But I love JJK more and understand more about the story & characters are thanks to you @theanimepsychologist (Sorry again if my main reason for entering JJK fandom is because of shipping).

Well this is awkward... I've since changed my username and perplexed moots and followers alike because of it.

Anyways, is stsg queerbaiting???? HMMMMM let's taco'bout it under the cut.

I think the ship in the manga walks a very fine line between queerbaiting and whatever the opposite is, but imo, it is ultimately not queerbaiting. More about this in a little bit.

If I'm honest though, if we go by the strict definition of queerbaiting as a "marketing technique for fiction and entertainment in which creators hint at, but do not depict, same-sex romance or other LGBTQ+ representation," the anime feels by contrast queerbaity.

I say this because MAPPA seems to be very aware it is catering to a very specific target audience...

Like... did they have to go this hard with Nanami?

Similarly, they took creative decisions that were very openly supportive of stsg as a ship while still remaining somewhat ambiguous to all of the people who do not see the romantic undertones.

In other words, MAPPA goes out of their way to make certain aspects of the story more obvious, which can feel like it is very intentionally speaking to an audience that would enjoy such changes.

Honestly tho, I LOVED the creative liberties that the anime took in general.

ANYWAYS.

My thoughts on stsg... I've actually talked about how I do like this ship before. I used to be on camp "they're just friends" and came around because I saw the vision and now I can't unsee it. But the fact that I had to be shown the vision in order to "get it" makes me feel like you have to see the ship through a certain lens in order to appreciate it romantically.

Thing is that I personally find it dissatisfying that a ship is presented to me in little "hints" and "clues" rather than through the dynamic itself. Which is where the queerbaiting allegations come in.

HOWEVER, to me, knowing how Gege writes by subverting tropes, the "queerbaiting" hints are very intentionally placed in the manga to say "these two were lovers" as opposed to doing it for "marketing purposes".

Personally, I much prefer Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle's kurofai because the clues are hidden in the dynamic and their emotional behavior to one another.

Compared to stsg, I can only read romantic subtext in two or three canon stsg panels, but I'm also not sure if it's because of Gege's skill level, lesser focus on emotional intimacy, idk...

That's how I see it at least. And I honestly respect anyone who doesn't think of them as lovers because, again, the ship is somewhat hidden in clues, not in the dynamic. And say a stsg fan reads this, they could very well think "is she blind?!"

And this is where we get into post-modernism and jjk's main theme: no one owns the objective truth. You are reading jjk through your very own unique lens, and any meaning you make out of jjk is always filtered through that lens. Trying to say your truth is absolute is basically power scaling.

At one point or another someone has to agree to disagree.

So yeah, you'll hear me say this bit about not owning the ultimate truth a lot.

Honestly, I love writing about my favorite ships and nothing makes me sadder than the state of shipping in jjk fandom because people won't just mind their own business about who should be shipped with whom.

As a side note, I've been brainrotting about atsumei recently. Might actually write about the breadcrumbs because these two move me the way some of my absolute favorite ships, soma, asucaga, and kurofai move me.

Clear Card arc is finally done woohooo.....

🌸 SPOILERS BEWARE 🌸

I dont like being negative about this, I really did try to love it. But sitting through 80 chapters over several years just for an ending like that almost feels like an insult.

At least we got more Sakura, Xiaolang, and the og cast because not much else was going for it.

Rambles below I guess

It just felt so aimless all the time, and it was driving me insane. Outside of Sakura and Xiaolang's romantic relationship, there was no growth whatsoever. No one really matured further or learned a lesson or developed their character.

Admittedly I never cared for Akiho from the jump because she felt like she was just a Sakura clone with no personality; and while that ended up being the point due to plot it actually made me dislike her even more. She was literally just a plot device at all times, but the manga acts like you should be endeared to her somehow. Her crush on Kaito also made me more annoyed than anything but thats to me personally.

Kaito annoyed me at the beginning, but as more of his actions were revealed, I started finding him really interesting. But his plan was kinda disappointing ngl, where is the drama??? I literally felt no urgency about the situation because he was so soft that there wasn't even a 1% doubt in my mind anyone would end up hurt. In the end he wasnt even really a final villain.

Just a failed opportunity to make an actual villain. Which now that i think about it is something cardcaptor does very often, and yet Kaito is still the least interesting of the bunch. How is Eriol the child more menacing of a rival character than a mage that masters time magic.

Also, why make Sakura create all those clear cards just to get rid of them at the end. I understand that most of them were redundant, but like it feels like a waste. I actually enjoyed how she used the weirdly specific cards to her advantage. So to just delete most of them sucks. She pretty much keeps Flight and the ones with matches from the Clow cards fused.

And I can't believe i sat through all of that just to toss in some Tsubasa stuff in the end. I like Tsubasa. In super small quantities. But I actually dont want it to bleed into Cardcaptor. that's what XXXHolic is for cmon. Fai's symbol in the magic books, Sakura mentioning passing the clow staff on one day, Syaoran learning to master time magic.... It's too much. Because the whole heritage thing in Tsubasa is easily my least favorite part. It's so unnecessarily convoluted for no reason. I was about to start my Tsubasa rant, let me stop.

It just felt like nothing had happened. 80 chapters of just weirdly convoluted plot with no expense or dire situations. Like idk how to explain how i feel.

But if I read 80 chapters and the only emotions I feel are Confusion and Cuteness (over Sakura and Syaoran); then it's actually really sad. What happened to drama and suspense. Or literally anything about the Hero's journey. Does CLAMP need to go back to english class/creative lit???

I've read a lot of CLAMP works okay. I would even say I'm a fan. But this is probably one of the most boring work they've made. It's not the worst, but honestly, close.

Now, this might just be my childhood rose colored glasses for the og. Or the fact I'm much more familiar with the anime than the manga, which I only read once. I know the anime made many changes, so for all I know, the og manga could've been the same in writing. But I really hope that should the anime return, it cleans up whatever that mess was because I felt like I was slowly going insane during Clear Card arc.

Hirogaru Sky episode 48 thoughts! Spoiler warning, we're heading towards the finale.

Like always have a random image to buffer.

This episode basically confirmed one thing right off the bat, Cure Noble betrayed Empress Undergu. Although maybe the theory of it being an implanted memory could still be true idk.

We get a longer version of the flashback from last week where we learn that Cure Noble's betrayal was caused when she heard gossip about Undergu's people living for over 300 years and the potential for being overthrown when they outlive her motivated what she did. There still may be a piece of this story we are missing because this makes the motivation more clear but why would Ellelain jump to conclusions like that?

The reactions of the cures is understandable and seeing Elle in disbelief over the thought was heartbreaking. So majority of the episode we cut between Majesty, Prism and Sky fighting Empress while Wing and Butterfly help defend from within the city. They use Yoyo's portal to evacuate some people but since it is not strong enough to save everyone the reformed villains from earlier in the show return to make an Undergu portal that is strong enough to get every civilian out of the city.

In the end they almost got through to Empress when something was plunged through her heart by Skearhead. The man who everyone thought died last week is now back to be our twist main villain. I wish I could say I was surprised, well I was a little bit surprised but not by much. The episode ends here getting ready for the final battle.

We have two episodes left and in true Precure fashion I assume the final boss will be defeated next week and then we'll have the final one to see what happens after. Emotional as always to say goodbye to this team, I love all five of these cures so much. This has been one of my favorite teams in a while. In most recent seasons there have always been cures I like less then others, but for Hirogaru I love all of them equally and think they are all well developed. Excited for the finale, sad to see Sora, Mashiro, Ageha, Tsubasa and Elle go.

Hi. Blast from the past but. Shingou stars align for the ask game

i remember us discussing it a lot in dms but one of the saddest things about the cancellation of stars align is how certain characters ended up with this sorta stunted depth where it was clear there was much more intended for them than what made it into the show. shingou is a HUGE example of that, they imply a strained relationship with his parents but do little to focus on it

^ like i think something really fascinating with what we DO get with his character (from what i remember…..im due a rewatch i fear) is how most of his indicated character depth is through his connections to other people - namely, his little sister and tsubasa, and how he looks out for these people. his core incentive is TO look out for them

^ the entire presentation of his + tsubasa's relationship in the fallout of tsubasa being hurt by his dad is the sweetest ever example of this it makes me so 😭😭 the way it was tsubasa’s first instinct upon getting hurt to go immediately to his house. the way its no question to him to pull out of the tournament because if tsubasa cant compete neither can he. these kids man

ANYWAYYY hes SO so incredibly silly hes so 14 years old and SO goofy and he becomes such a moodmaker and hypeman within the club in many ways im glad we never got the opportunity to focus on him because seeing any more of these kids hurt would hurt me amen

A/N: I had written this for a CCS/Tsubasa zine that sadly got cancelled. ☹ I’ve always loved Tomoyo’s/Kurogane’s relationship, the utter steadfastness of Kurogane’s loyalty and her confidence in him.

Sake cup in hand, Tomoyo stepped out onto her bamboo-lined balcony and took a deep breath of the cool, sweet air. It was a pleasant night for a moon-viewing and she leaned against her balcony rail to watch the party below. Bright, colourful lanterns shone in defiance to the night’s gloom, lighting up the palace’s courtyard. Below, she could make out a drunk Syaoran energetically fighting the ancient sakura tree while Fai and Mokona cheered him on.

It was cute. They’d no doubt forgotten just what they were here for. Her attendants and sister were seated a short distance away, their half of the party a more dignified one. The only ones missing were Sakura and Kurogane: a princess who could no longer afford the cost of travel and the latter which was standing behind her right now.

“I thought you would prefer drinking with them,” she said, glancing over her shoulder.

Dressed in a black and red kimono, Kurogane regaled her with surprise, his eyes widening slightly before he shook his head. “I thought you didn’t have the sight anymore,” he asked as he stepped out of the shadows.

“I do not need that or even your senses to know where you are.” Tomoyo smirked, moving slightly so he could stand next to her. A bamboo leaf brushed her shoulder. “You are very predictable.”

“Am I?” he questioned, taking a sip from his own cup. There was nothing graceful about the way he drank and even in this he couldn’t hide his brash nature.

“Very much so.” Tomoyo chuckled, cupping her cheek with hand. “You’re like a little puppy.”

“Puppy?” he repeated, aghast.

“A cute, little puppy,” she confirmed, mischievously. She glanced at Fai and Syaoran once more. Classical music drifted through the air. “And with that group, it is very helpful, I imagine.”

“It’s very annoying,” he grumbled, giving Fai and Mokona a flat glare. Despite his words, there was no bite in his tone, and she wondered if he could see how much he had softened over the years. Even his profile wasn’t as hard as it used to be, his sternness of a gentler type now.

“Your inflexibility can be,” she agreed innocently, ignoring how his glare now swung to her. “You could just enjoy the party with them, you know.”

“I did.” Kurogane smiled faintly, the limit of his honesty. “And now I’m here. To renew my vow.”

Tomoyo regarded him for a moment. “We do not have to do this every time, you know.”

 “We do,” he disagreed, finishing the last of his sake before resting the cup on the railing. “Until my mission is over, until I can stay here, I want to.”

“What is the point if you aren’t here?” Tomoyo winced. That sounded harsher than she intended. Rephrasing, she added, “It is not that I doubt your loyalty. I can see it in the lengths you go to find that other Sakura and Syaoran.”

He didn’t say anything, just regarded her with dark eyes as he waited for her to finish. And that much hadn’t changed over the years either, how he knew when she had more to say.

Tomoyo glanced up at the moon, so much brighter than the light reflected in her sake. After taking another sip, she quietly set aside her own cup. “This vow is not meant to chain you, not if you no longer need it. You may return here as much as you like, but…”

When I sent you away, I understood that you might never return.

Tomoyo couldn’t voice those last words. Cowardly, she looked away. The tall stalks of bamboo on her right glowed faintly in the moonlight and she took solace in their rigidity. There was a price to pay for every wish, and hers was his company.

It was an insignificant thing in comparison to his life.

“I remember your laughter when this started,” Kurogane said. She glanced at him, but he wasn’t looking at her anymore. Instead, his gaze was locked on his companions.

“Your expression was funny,” she murmured.

He didn’t frown or even growl at that; he’d grown up in ways she hadn’t expected. “Yours will be funnier when I finally return home.”

Home? She stared at him, surprised.

“Yeah, just like that.” He grinned, all teeth, as he kneeled before her. “Like I said, I want to do this. After I find those two, I’m done with travelling.”

“What if that day never comes?” she asked, trying not to hope.

“It will come.” There was no doubt in his voice. Then again, he’d never been a dreamer, had he? Kurogane always took action with the uttermost confidence.

Tomoyo studied him for a moment. She couldn’t see the future anymore, couldn’t know if he was right, if it would take decades before he was right, but it was hard not to believe him. He’d stopped the universe from unravelling, travelled through time, and fought fate itself, after all. What was finding two people compared to that?

Giving in, she raised her hand. “Very well then, Yoo.”

Only the cold moon and steadfast bamboo witnessed her blessing.

Hopefully, the next time they did this would also be the last.

Week in Review

11/05/2023 – 11/11/2023

Sunday

As expected, the Ichinose chapter last week was a fake out. Just one more gotcha – but just kidding this time! before the end of the road. And now that we’re here…it’s a little baffling to me that it took us 48 chapters and an entire year to impart the relatively basic message of “families aren’t perfect but you gotta keep trying anyway.” I wish we could’ve gotten more focus into each of the other family members like Tsubasa did, what with the whole set up of the seven deadly sins and all. I wish there weren’t so many twists that seemed to be only for shock factor/cliffhangers. And I wish this series had a stronger thematic backbone, but I’m learning that Taizan 5’s M.O. is all about bordering on trauma porn/shock factor until they pull it back for a conclusion that’s about as complex as you’d find in a Disney Channel movie. They always have great premises, but from what I’ve seen, I don’t think they have the skill to actually follow through with interesting and evocative ideas. I’m just glad the trip is finally over. I’ll give Ichinose a 3/10, and I honestly don’t think I’ll check out Taizan 5’s works in the future.

Next up is Undead Unluck, and it’s so serendipitous that we got this chapter right after episode 5 of the anime, because otherwise I don’t think I would’ve remembered Andy firing his fingers at the Round Table, and then I wouldn’t have caught this parallel of Fuuko shooting her guns at the UMAs! What a full circle moment. And oh my God Andy…pulling a Fire Punch, I see. Solid chapter overall.

Dandadan 127: YAYYY RIN!! LET ‘EM KNOW!!!

Magilumiere 90: Plot-wise I don’t have much to say about this chapter, but it’s fun to see everyone in the Manga Plus comments lamenting about Shigemoto being denied his magical girl dress.

Hmmmmm yeah okay, it’s the end of the line for Akane-banashi for me…I know I said I was going to stick with it for the rakugo stories, but I think I’ll just listen to a rakugo podcast or something. I’m glad I got to see fox Karashi before I went, though.

One Piece was fine.

CIPHER ACADEMY YAYYYYY I’m glad to finally learn more about Karigane and what a threat she can be! I also love when Byu’s eyes go into sniper mode, it’s such a unique character design detail. But oh boy……I tried so hard to get into mahjong when I played Yakuza 0, and I’ve since accepted that I’m just too dumb for it LMAO like, there’s no way I’ll ever be able to memorize all the point-winning hands, and I barely understand what a dora or tenpai is. I wouldn’t even be able to tell if I was winning if there wasn’t a video game telling me that I was…all of which is to say that this code battle is just going in one ear and out the other, I’m afraid. But I’ll just focus on the emotional journeys of the characters and I’ll still have a great time.

My friend and I finally marathoned a ton of House episodes, but they were all pretty standard fare. I can’t believe we’re only halfway through season 5 and there’s still four whole 22-episode seasons left…they really let TV shows go on forever back then, huh? What’s really surprising to me on this rewatch is how Taub has become my favourite character…? He’s pragmatic, self-aware, and doesn’t tend to get caught up emotionally – my kinda guy.

Monday

Finally got around to watching the Dirty Laundry episode that came out like two weeks ago. This one was pretty fun, with one or two wild stories, but still doesn’t reach the heights of some of the earlier Dirty Laundry episodes for me. And every time I watch, I think about how hard it must be to cast for this show, because not only do you have to get good comedians, you have to get four of them who are familiar enough with each other to have funny banter and to actually guess whose secret it is… And I fear that their talent pool is running out…or rather, their talent pool of people I recognise and would like to see on the show is running out.

Watched the new Make Some Noise episode while I was at it and I love seeing Jacob again, his energy with Lou is really fun. I feel like some of the prompts this season have been a little…subpar, though… I don’t like the ones where it’s just a pop culture reference that’s basically only one obvious joke, or the ones where there’s no real room to expand… But I think the guests this time did the best with what they got. But holy shit I did not enjoy the minigames in this episode…

It’s been a busy week… I’ve gotten sucked into all my various projects and errands…but I always have time for new Undead Unluck episodes. Unfortunately, this was probably the weakest episode in the series so far. Story-wise it was a lot of setup for next week’s fight, and visuals-wise…look, I get it, there’s literally no other way they could feasibly do this on a TV anime schedule, but goddamn the 3D zombies look goofy as hell… I really hate seeing 3D human models in 2D anime, it just never looks convincing and completely takes me out of it. But it is what it is, I suppose.

I loved the part in the beginning of the episode though, where Shen was being cute and having fun banter with Fuuko. And then the fish-eyed lenses effect to amp up the horror vibes when they were listening to the recording was also a nice touch. Now I’m just really looking forward to seeing if Shen has his little unhinged moment next week. (Special shout out to the cameo from Mr. Spongebob himself, that made me laugh).

Saturday

Pretty good episode of SpyFam today. I love seeing the tension racket up as Yor and co. realize that they’ve been found out – the scene with the room service guy was particularly excellent. The Anya segment provided a nice balance of comedic relief, though perhaps it dragged a bit longer than it needed to. I’m excited to get into the assassin battles proper next week.

It’s fun to be eating Chinese food while watching Kusuriya, especially when it’s a super spicy mala dish…I feel like I’m doing a poison mukbang with Maomao. Rihaku is really cute in anime form! The Garden Party as a whole was adapted about as well as I could’ve expected, but I think I just prefer seeing it in manga form for whatever reason…probably something to do with the pacing of reading the dialogue versus watching it being spoken aloud.

Pretty barren week, huh? I wish I could say I was being productive the whole time but it’s more like I got sucked into my hobbies while watching a lot of YouTube in the background. Hopefully next week will be more eventful.

I absolutely adore this fic! But especially the way it expands on quirk counseling worldbuilding in My Hero Academia!

Excerpt from Chapter 2:

"Combined with Monoma's ability to sense your quirk, I'd say you are not, in fact, quirkless." "But I have the toe joint?" Izuku wasn't sure why he'd said that. Не shouldn't be arguing against this, because, as Aizawa had said, he did have a quirk. It just wasn't exactly his. "Yeah, that's an old wives' tale." "Really?" "As real as my quirk counselor license. Whoever diagnosed you was a quack."

The idea of Aizawa being a licensed quirk counselor makes so much sense given his quirk and employment at UA. As he also acts as the introduction to a lot of the nuances to the world of heroics and quirks, seeing him introduce new worldbuilding elements separate from canon feels both natural and exciting! Not to mention the subtle nod to the Dr. Tsubasa is Dr. Garaki theory!

And the elements themselves are so cool! Myths and misinformation are such goldmines of cultural artifacts, and the way this is developed in chapter 5 is so poignant and great pacing!

"Oh, okay. S-so, what are we doing today? Sensory deprivation? Electric shocks? Stress positions? Bean bag barrage for dodging? High stakes hell exam?" He was ready for anything and very excited. Aizawa stared at him flatly. "We're... doing quirk counseling." "Yes?" "Kid... except for maybe the last one... what exactly gave you the idea that any of those things had anything to do with quirk counseling?" Izuku started to get the feeling he'd seriously messed up. Except he didn't feel particularly anxious about it. "Oh, uh, Mom used to get brochures like that in the mail, after I was diagnosed? She didn't ever answer any, but... Apparently, some people originally thought to be quirkless got quirks after being in a high stress situation."

"Next time we meet, I'll be running you through the basic quirk assessment battery - that's a series of tests usually given to five-year-olds to help their pediatric quirk doctors and quirk counselors identify difficult or stubborn quirks. You should have gone through it when you were younger." Izuku shook his head. "All I remember is the x-ray." "Why would you get an x-ray?" "For the toe joint? To tell whether or not I was quirkless?" Why was he insisting on this? He was going to blow his cover and his secret out of the water! This was so dumb. But he did say it. Maybe it was his guilty conscience from lying to and misleading Mr. Aizawa so much. "That's a myth," said Aizawa. "What?" "It isn't true." Aizawa began to slump down in his seat. "It's an old wives' tale. Everyone quirkless has the double joint, but not everyone with the double joint is quirkless. I have the double joint, as do about twenty-five percent of people with meta quirks." By the time he finished, only the top half of his face was visible. "Oh," said Izuku. He wasn't sure what else to say. At least the secret of One for All was completely intact.  "You did say something like that before..."  He'd been too upset and nervous about the test to really process it.   "I hate to say this, kid, but it sounds like everyone involved in your early quirk education was incredibly incompetent. You shouldn't have had to deal with that, even if you were truly quirkless. It takes just as much counseling to deal with that in today's day and age as something like, say, Ashido's quirk."

First of all, the idea of explicitly widespread, incompetent/quack quirk counseling is fantastic and fits right into the world of MHA, given what we know about Toga.

But on a worldbuilding level, the failure of Izuku's quirk counselors also reflects the reality of getting counseling in general, whether for mental illness, neurodivergence, physical disability, chronic illness, addiction, etc. That's a unique level of authenticity right there!

And while it has analogues to real world examples of misinformed counseling, I love the way OP fleshes out the quirkless variant! The 'Stress-manifesting' idea is such a clear play on other superhero stories employing that trope, like Deadpool, and it's so easy to imagine these counselors ignorantly applying these fictional narratives to real life quirkless people.

It's such an interesting little story about how misinformation leads to actual harm, reflecting the struggles we face in the real world, while still firmly couched in the context of quirklessness and MHA!

Not to mention the idea Aizawa having an extra toe joint as well is just so fun! Meta quirks are so relevant to this AU, since it's so focused on the mechanics of One For All, so it's just so fun to get these extra nuggets of meta quirk worldbuilding details!

These types of stories are exactly why I read fanfiction! Worldbuilding like this is like reading a beautifully in-depth analysis post packed into a couple lines, and the narrative format highlights why this analysis matters! The reasons the characters care becomes reasons that we care!

Chapter 5

The day started off well. Really, it did. Izuku got up on time, still filled with warm fuzziness from the time he spent with his friends (friends!) the afternoon before, had a good breakfast, left early enough to catch an earlier train, saw an interesting hero fight, and then...

He was hit with a wave of nausea as he caught sight of the crowd outside UA's gates. Was it a mob? An attack? Terrorists?

... Reporters?

Yeah, those were cameras and microphones. But why was a crowd of reporters making him feel this way?

Maybe they were terrorists disguised as reporters. Or, maybe Izuku had picked up some paranoia to go with his anxiety. How fun.

If they were real reporters, they were probably here about All Might. Him cutting back on active hero work to teach had been big news.

Ughhhh. What should he do? Whoever they were, they weren't likely to leave. He didn't want to walk through them, though. What if they were dangerous? (And even if they weren't, he didn't want reporters looking at him, asking him questions. What would he say to them?)

He bit his lip and watched the crowd from around his chosen corner. Why did he have to be so wimpy and timid? He was a hero student, now. He should be better. Braver.

Oh! There was Iida!

He scuttled over to his friend.

"Ah! Midoriya! You're early today! Few people arrive at school at the same time I do!"

"Y-yeah! I managed to catch the earlier train today, so..." He looked back at the crowd of reporters. Maybe reporters. Maybe terrorists. "I think, maybe we should wait to go in as a group, though. I mean, it'll be more efficient than trying to fight through those reporters one at a time, right?"

"An excellent idea, Midoriya!" exclaimed Iida, waving his hands enthusiastically. "It's very admirable of you, to always be thinking about how to help others."

"W-well," said Izuku, blushing. It wasn't untrue, but it also wasn't the whole story. "I mean, I don't... It's more that they kind of freak me out a bit? The reporters..."

Iida nodded sagely. "There are heroes like that, too. Are you planning on going underground, then?"

There was a certain amount of appeal to underground heroics, but he was supposed to be All Might's successor. Then again, if One for All never worked properly for him and Mr. Yagi asked for it back... Quirk or not, Izuku was here, now, in UA, in the hero course, and Mr. Yagi had said he could be a hero without a quirk.

"I haven't really decided yet. But UA teaches all hero course students the three main branches of heroics, so we don't really have to choose a specialty until later, and even then there are heroes like Sir Nighteye who blur the lines, right?"

"Yes, it's one of the things that make UA such a superior institution!" chortled Monoma.

"Ah, Monoma! I agree! It is important for all heroes to be aware of the work their colleagues do, and to be well-rounded individuals!"

Monoma!?

"Um," said Izuku. "When did you get here?"

"Just a minute ago," said Monoma. "I was looking for a way around these savages when I overheard your conversation. Really, it's a shame that UA allows such rabble to prevent students from entering. If only there was something they could do..."

"I'm afraid I must disagree," said Iida. "Freedom of the press is exceedingly important for the function of society!"

Monoma looked slightly alarmed. "I don't mean to say it isn't, it's just-" he gestured at the gates, "-we can't get in. The other entrances are like this, too. It's aggravating."

"There... might be another way in," said Iida, after a moment.

"Oh?"

"Yes, my brother told me about a hidden entrance that was here when he attended UA. I suppose... I suppose these would be the right circumstances to use it."

"Lead the way, then, Iida," said Monoma.

Iida nodded stiffly. "We should wait and see if any of our classmates would like to come with us."

Several of their classmates did want to come with them, including Uraraka, Asui (who was still a little under the weather), Tokoyami (Dark Shadow was not a fan of flashing lights), and Hagakure. They were also joined by a couple of 1-B students, a cadre of business course kids, and a pink haired support course girl who seemed very interested in Iida's legs, much to his flustered confusion.

Kacchan did not join them, much to Izuku's dismay, instead choosing to bulldoze his way through the ranks of reporters, nearly giving Izuku a heart attack when he body-checked a man with blue-white hair.

At this point, their group was becoming rather large and noticeable, and Iida was getting antsy about the time, so off they went.

Iida led them to what appeared to be an entirely unnoteworthy piece of wall and knocked. There was a pause just long enough to make Iida start to sweat, and then the wall opened, revealing Midnight- Ms. Kayama!

"Oh?" she said, clearly delighted. "Chibiida using the top secret teacher's entrance? Has high school done what we couldn't? Are you finally loosening up?"

Chibiida.

Chibiida.

CHIBIIDA.

First: how? Why? Iida was over ten centimeters taller than Izuku! Secondly: Iida was never going to recover from this.

"That- that's not it! At all! I am simply attempting to help my fellow students enter the school without being harassed by reporters, Ms. Kayama!"

"You can still call me big sis Nemuri, you know."

"I refuse! It would be inappropriate of me as a student!"

Ms. Kayama sighed. "Well, you aren't wrong about those reporters. They can be a pain. So, just this once, let me welcome you kids to the forbidden environs of the staff area!" She made a grandiose gesture with her arm. "And it's all thanks to Chibiida here."

Iida started muttering about propriety and rules.

Izuku had the feeling it would be a long day.

"All right, Hikage, in your professional opinion-"

"What does building inspecting have to do with anything?"

"What?" said Nana. "I didn't say anything about building inspecting."

"You asked for my professional opinion."

"Yes?" said Nana, already dreading where this would go.

"I was a vigilante. For the purposes of money, I was a professional, licensed building inspector."

"I thought you were a professional hermit," said En.

"I was an amateur hermit. You don't get paid for that."

En blinked. "I can't believe people let you into their buildings."

"There were a few times-"

Nana decided to table the question of how neither she nor En had known Hikage was a building inspector. "Okay, fine. Forget the professional part. In your opinion, what was going on with that one reporter guy?"

"Oh," said Hikage. "He's definitely planning a murder."

"A murder!" exclaimed Yoichi.

"Yes, and probably of someone close to Ninth."

"Why didn't you say something?" demanded Yoichi, attempting to lift the taller man up by the front of his shirt and failing.

"Because there's not much we can do about it?"

"Just because you're right doesn't mean I have to like it!" He spun on his heel and stalked up to the silent and incomplete ghost of Toshinori. "It had better not be you, do you hear me? Don't you dare pull an Obi-Wan on poor, sweet Izuku!"

"Does anyone know what he's talking about?" asked Nana.

"Not really," admitted Banjo.

"Today," said Mr. Aizawa, after he finished passing out feedback from the battle trial, "you'll pick a class president."

All around Izuku, his classmates threw their hands into the air, eager for the chance to show off their leadership skills.

Izuku kept his hand down. It wasn't that he didn't want to stand out or do the work! It was just... between training after school with Mr. Yagi and Aizawa and trying to get his anxiety under control, he didn't think he'd do a very good job.

Yoichi started disappearing his "Izuku for President" banners.

Iida, though... Iida would do well, Izuku thought. Look at him, organizing everyone into a vote.

"You're not running, Midori?" asked Hagakure.

"N-no, haha, I have too many other commitments to do a good job, I think."

"That's too bad! I would have voted for you."

There was a smattering of agreement, mostly from Iida and Uraraka. Izuku started blushing.

"R-really? Why?"

("Strawberry," someone whispered.)

"Well, you helped me out during the entrance exam, and you were pretty cool during training yesterday." More agreement. "But if you're not running, I guess I'll pick Monoma. He did get rid of the purple creep."

"Ahahaha, yes, I am clearly the superior candidate!" crowed Monoma, standing up and putting his foot on his chair to pose.

"But his personality's really weird, which is why you would have been my first choice, Midoriya."

"I think Iida would be a good choice!" said Uraraka, raising her hand. "He's super organized and he helped a bunch of us get past the reporters this morning."

More general agreement. Then Todoroki cleared his throat. Everyone looked at him.

"Yaoyorozu," he said.

That was it.

"Good point," agreed Jirou.

"A TIE?!"

As the only one who hadn't voted for one of the three in the tie, Aoyama was forced to be the tiebreaker. This was done as dramatically as humanly possible.

Yaoyorozu was now president of class 1-A.

This led to a ferocious battle between Monoma and Iida that Iida won by a single vote. Monoma was promptly chosen as class treasurer. Just in time for their other classes.

"Those who possess forbidden knowledge should stay together," said Tokoyami gravely as he sat down with Uraraka, Iida, and Izuku.

"Are you talking about the staff area?" asked Asui, who slid in after him.

"Indeed," intoned Tokoyami gravely. "The dark path we have all walked-"

"Fumi is just bad at asking people to be his friends!"

"Dark Shadow!"

Izuku almost started crying into his rice. Having friends was so great.

"I'll be your friend!" said Izuku.

"Me, too!" said Uraraka, pumping a fist.

"Ah," said Tokoyami, coughing into a fist. "I am sure we will be great companions in the darkness of the coming days."

Speaking of darkness... Izuku couldn't help but feel uneasy about... something. He had been ever since seeing those reporters.

"So, Midori, is your hair full of secrets?"

"Wh-what?"

"Don't listen to her! She's just being silly! Like a little sister."

"It's what you always say about that actor you like! His hair is fluffy because it's full of secrets!"

"So, you and Dark Shadow are like brother and sister?" asked Midoriya, changing the subject.

The conversation segued into discussion of their families, and just when Iida was extolling the virtues of his older brother, Izuku's unease spiked. He dropped his chopsticks.

"Is something wrong?" asked Uraraka.

"I... don't know? It just feels like something bad is going to-"

The school alarm promptly went off.

"Wow!" said Kirishima. "Iida can do entrances and exits! Manly!"

"Wow," said Banjo, "I guess they picked the right guy for the job, after all. He can find entrances and exits! More than my class vice president ever did..."

"Are you copying the small red child?" asked Hikage.

"What?"

"Never mind."

.

"Today's heroics class will be focused on how to fall safely and other basic combat techniques. Before we begin, although you may practice these techniques on your own, outside of class, if you want to spar with others, you need adult supervision until you reach a level where I'm satisfied you won't seriously injure yourself or others by mistake. Now, firstly..."

"Mr. Aizawa? Is- um. Was it really just the press breaking in earlier?"

It was time for his first special quirk training with Aizawa, and he should be asking what they were doing today (especially since Aizawa had him change out of his gym uniform and back to his regular uniform), but he couldn't stop thinking about the break-in.

"What makes you think otherwise?"

"I'm, well, I'm not sure? I just, this morning, when I saw them, I got a really bad feeling? Like something bad was going to happen. And it doesn't seem, um, logical, that normal reporters would be able to do that to UA's gate. I mean, anyone can have any quirk- no such thing as a villainous quirk. But someone with a quirk like that, they'd put a lot of effort into controlling it and stuff so stuff like this wouldn't happen by mistake. I guess a reporter could have done it on purpose, though, but then it'd be really easy for UA to find out it was them, wouldn't it? Or the police. Since heroes and police have access to the national quirk registry, so you just have to cross-reference reporters with the registry to find quirks that could fit. But would they know that? Anyway, it seems more logical for a third party to have used the press as cover to infiltrate the school. But why? If nothing is missing and no one is hurt, which would be grounds for school being canceled, the next conclusion would be information gathering. But that still leaves the question of the ultimate ends- Mr. Aizawa? Are you okay?"

His teacher had been glaring at a camera mounted in the corner of the classroom and mouthing things at it.

"I'm fine," said Aizawa. He sighed. "You are right that we haven't located the person who destroyed the gates, but please be assured that we are investigating the incident throughly. Especially Principal Nezu." He shot another glare at the camera, as if to say he'd better be.

"Regardless, it isn't something you need to worry about as a student. We're adding more safety protocols to make sure it doesn't happen again."

Izuku looked away. He shouldn't have said anything. He didn't like the quirk counselor at Eisley Elementary, but he didn't want to get her in trouble, either. After all, he was the only one she had to do that stuff with, since his quirk hadn't shown up...

Aizawa sighed with the air of someone exercising a lot of self-control. "Except for that last one," said Aizawa, "and that's debatable, all of those are torture techniques."

Ah. Well. That maybe explained a few things.

"They are not a normal part of quirk counseling. At some point, we may incorporate some combat into this, but that will be to help you become more familiar with your quirk. Not just for the sake of making you stressed."

"But if we aren't doing combat, what are we doing?"

"Well, first off, I lied. Secondly, teachers aren't kids. If we ever get hit by a quirk that brings us back to life, the quirk counselor at his old school will be my first victim."

Nana sighed. "That isn't going to happen."

"Who's going to stop me?"

"Less a who, and more the fact that there has never been a quirk that could revive the dead."

"Alright, kid," said Aizawa exhaustion evident in his tone. "Between your answers, your exam results, the battle trial results, how you react when I use my quirk on you, and Monoma's assessment... Your quirk is at least partially sensory.",

Izuku tried not to feel disappointed, but that seemed rather incomplete as a conclusion. Even though he knew about Danger Sense and this probably was Danger Sense.

"Yeah, I know, it's underwhelming, but remember this is the first session. Whatever your quirk actually does, though, you seem to be using it to detect threats."

Okay, that was more in line with expectations.

"I mean... maybe? I think so. That feels right."

"We also need to figure out what it's stockpiling. Have you ever felt any particular draw to certain situations? More than your peers?"

"Um. I watch a lot of hero fights?"

"You're a fight chaser?"

"A little bit?" admitted Izuku, squirming a little.

Aizawa sighed heavily. "I seriously hope your quirk doesn't stockpile danger- don't test that."

Speaking of, though, what did One for All actually stockpile? Power was a very vague description... He'd just went along with it because a) quirk and b) All Might, but it would probably be good to know.

"Next time we meet, I'll be running you through the basic quirk assessment battery- that's a series of tests usually given to five-year-olds to help their pediatric quirk doctors and quirk counselors identify difficult or stubborn quirks. You should have gone through it when you were younger."

Izuku shook his head. "All I remember is the x-ray."

"Why would you get an x-ray?"

"For the toe joint? To tell whether or not I was quirkless?" Why was he saying this? He was going to blow his cover and his secret out of the water! This was so dumb.

But he did say it. Maybe it was his guilty conscience from lying to and misleading Mr. Aizawa so much.

"That's a myth," said Aizawa.

"What?"

"It isn't true." Aizawa began to slump down in his seat. "It's an old wives' tale. Everyone quirkless has the double joint, but not everyone with the double joint is quirkless. I have the double joint, as do about twenty-five percent of people with meta quirks." By the time he finished, only the top half of his face was visible.

"Oh," said Izuku. He wasn't sure what else to say. At least the secret of One for All was completely intact.

"I hate to say this, kid, but it sounds like everyone involved in your early quirk education was incredibly incompetent. You shouldn't have had to deal with that, even if you were truly quirkless. It takes just as much counseling to deal with that in today's day and age as something like, say, Ashido's quirk."

Izuku had never heard it put like that before. "Okay."

"Now, before I send you off for today, do you have any questions about anything we'll be doing? Any of the tests we'll be running, normal quirk counseling procedures, anything. It's important for you to feel comfortable about this."

Izuku's eyes teared up. This had already been a very emotional day, and he wasn't sure a teacher had ever asked him that and meant it. "Mr. Aizawa," he said, earnestly, "you're the best teacher I've ever had."

"Is that a joke?" asked Aizawa, flatly.

Izuku shook his head, centrifugal force flinging his teardrops away.

"That's messed up, kid. I'm terrible."

"You're the best," protested Izuku.

"I just need you to know how incredibly low that bar is. Your other teachers must have gotten shovels to dig tunnels under it. They must be dancing limbo in hell."

Izuku blinked. He had no idea what that meant. "I think they're all still alive..."

"Not for long," muttered Aizawa.

AFO gives quirks and steals kids but all this time just ignores Izuku, Garaki was Izuku's doctor, a perfect quirkless boy that easy could turn in a nomu or anything but he just left Izuku goes. At this point dfo is the only good explanation for all this.

I wouldnt say he "steals" kids. Its more like he takes abandoned children nobody wants in (tomura, touya, chisaki and other orphans), but he gives them to babysitters (kurogiri, the doc and that creepy sunflower guy in chapter 350), because he clearly doesnt care about them and feels zero attachment for them. I saw posts about afo being a terrible father to these kids, so izuku should be glad not to have him around. But people seem to forget that afo DOESNT have father feelings for this children. All of this children are tools for him and nothing more then lab rats, vessels for his quirk if something happens to tomura. As soon as he doesnt need them anymore they end as noumus (Im looking at you little tsubasa) or dead. He isnt a father figure for them and it seem like as if he never was part of these childrens life except tomuras. And even with him he mainly interacted with through a computer monitor. So fact is, we still have no idea what kind of father afo would be to izuku. He could geniusly love izuku and be a good father to him before he left "overseas".

And yes, the fact that izuku is the only child afo and garaki ignore, despite being the perfect test object, is pretty much one of the biggest dfo hints so far. Afo doesnt care about if these children have quirks or not, look at aoyama. He gave him a quirk and from then he and his parents had to work for him. Even if afo was not interested to use izuku as a vessel because of him being quirkless, he could have used him for something else. He isnt picky when it comes to using people for his own gain. An other fact that is also still sus is garaki not talking about or mentioning izuku at least ONCE in 349 chapters, despite knowing that he is the current ofa holder and the only person that could stop afo and tomura. As if he was ordered never to talk about him no matter what.

Also we need to ask ourselfes the question, if dfo is true (and you are absolutely right anon, it IS the only logical explaination) WHY did afo fathering a child and MARRY a woman, when he already has like 30 back up kids in his storage, that arent even his own? Also the timeline makes clear that afo took tomura in when izuku was already born. His son was between a few months and a year old, but he STILL decided to use an other child/ren for his plans. And at that age it was impossible for even garaki to find out if izuku has a quirk or not.

So to me garaki telling that izuku is quirkless was because of 3 reasons. 1. Izuku ISNT quirkless (enough hints in the manga) and he has a version of his own afo quirk (again enough hints) 2. At the age of 4 little izuku was already the biggest all might nerd in whole japan and has already decided he wanted to become a hero just like his idol. Pretty sure that was a BIG thorn in afos eyes and it reminded him of an other family member who was obssessed with heros and turned against him. And 3. Hoping that growing up in an anti quirkless society, shunned out by all the other people and treated like "worthless and useless" trash (well done bakugou *sarcastic*) would change izukus world view and make him start to hate hero society, so izuku will follow him willingly when the time comes and not rebell against him like yoichi did. But that completly backfired, because izuku still wants to safe people, no matter if they treated him like shit or not. And thats the reason why afo is still trying to make izuku see the flaws and fuck ups of hero society by sending people like nagant after him.

Lan Wangji x Wei Wuxian. Steady devotion. Full of ups and downs, Started as frenemies with Wei teasing Lan and them not getting along, but still developing crushes on each other. Then demonic cultivation got in their way and ruined everything, but Lan was still devastated when Wei died and spent years atoning, punishing himself, taking care of their son and looking for Wei’s soul. And when he finally was reincarnated, he was always there, to defend him, fight with him and comfort him through everything.

Xue Yang x Xiao Xingchen. Really unhealthy relationship. Enemies to friends to almost lovers. Xiao was the one to arrest Xue, which led him to being hurt and developing an obsession with making Xiao suffer, so he went to his best friend and killed his family and blinded him. Xiao then went to a healer and gouged his eyes to give to him and when his friend in anger told him to go away, he exiled himself. Xiao later saved Xue not knowing who he was and nursed him back to health, and Xiao stayed with him for years. At first he wanted to hurt and humiliate him, he made him unknowingly kill people, but later he started caring about him, but everything was ruined when Xiao’s friend found him and Xue made him kill him. From then all the truths came out and Xiao couldn’t handle it so he killed himself. Xue was distraught, but he managed to seal his soul and kept obsessing over trying to save him in any way.

Jin Gyun x Lan Xichen. “The only one I never thought of hurting was you”. Wangxian, but gone wrong. Xichen kept on being loyal and believing his friend over anyone else, and in the end he was wrong and he was tricked into killing him (Mo Dao Zu Shi)

Qin Jiu x You Huo. My recent favourite <3 The world keeps interfering and keeping them apart, they can’t be open about their relationship, the system keeps erasing their memories. They met and fell in love from scratch 3 times and finally they can be together now. Their subtle devotion to each other, Yuo always wearing the earring Qin gave him. Qin always wearing a scarf because he used it to cover his bloody wound to not make Yuo worried at the end of their second time and even without his memories, he keeps wearing it because he knows he doesn’t want to worry someone. Yuo taking the punishment instead of Qin their first time, Qin waiting patiently for Yuo to wake up in the hospital at the end because he promised he would and together they would find a solution for Yuo eyes their first time. Qin always being a little shit and naturally teasing You, no matter if they’re enemies, him longing for Yuo and subconsciously knowing they want the same thing even if everyone keeps telling him they’re on opposite sides.

Hatsuharu x Isuzu. Angsty yet wonderful. Rin is distant and behaves coldly but she’s so selfless and self-sacrificing, always trying to keep Haru’s best interests in mind and to protect him. They’re very weird people, one is obsessed with cats and talks with them, the other is a lolicon and his ability is a little girl who always talks back to him and that he loves spoiling. Basically a divorced couple that keeps on fighting custody battles, Ysano, Oda, Dazai…

Ranpo x Poe. Super cute and funny. Poe is such a fanboy and would do everything Ranpo asks him for. And Ranpo is simply living his best life and enjoying every moment of their time together (Bungou Stray Dogs)

Vanitas x Noe. Vanitas x Jeanne. Noe x Domi. Jeanne x Domi. I ship all of the together so much. Vaninoe are so funny, their dynamic is hilarious and they’re always bickering but also saving each other. Jeanne and Vani are so hot and so cute together. And Vani actually feeling real emotions for her and being surprised that someone could love someone like him *kyya sob*. Domi and Noe are also incredible together, the trust they have in each other, always being ready to do everything for the other. She has a super cute crush on him and an get pretty nervous and clumsy around him, when drunk she’s just aggressively flirting and ordering him around.

Kyubei x Tae. Was actually really good, since the Yagyuu arc I shipped them, once Kyu stopped being an asshole and we discovered their backstory, I started rooting for her. She’s very protective and always trying to spend time and hang out with her (Gintama)

Zoro x Sanji. Always fighting and bickering. Loyal to the crew and to each other, surprisingly comfortable together, on the same wavelength, would die for each other.

Marco x Ace. Fire x fire. Love it, mostly based on headcanons. Blue phoenix who can heal and hot-headed fire logia. Marco was the one to convince him to join the crew. Poor Marco he lost everyone *sob sob*

Luffy x MEAT. The one and only true ship in all of 1000 chapters of One Piece.

Sabo x Koala. Usopp x Kaya. Super adorable and sweet

Nami x Vivi. They got along so well during Alabasta, Nami made some huge sacrifices to help Vivi and get there as soon as possible, she really cared about her and gave it her all to free her country without expecting a reward in return (One Piece)

Grimmjow x Ichigo. Very hot, blue and orange. Savage hollow, thinks himself king, always wanting to get stronger and win against other people. Not so normal hybrid teenager, find himself in the middle of all the chaos, only wants to protect his friends, if only they didn’t get kidnapped at every turn. Doesn’t really want to fight, but deep down he instinctively chooses to. Their fight made Ichi stronger and brought out all his instincts and he saves Grimm, teaching him mercy and how to be more human.

Renji x Rukia. From childhood friend, to schoolmates to estranged to lovers. Renji totally had a crush on her when they were little, she felt left behind in school and what’s more they got separated when she was adopted by the Kuchiki and him being happy for her did more bad than good. When he was sent to capture her, he didn’t want to seriously hurt her and when she was imprisoned, she wasn’t scared of him still kept teasing him. He then gave his all and sacrificed everything in order to save her and they lived together ever happily being dumbasses and helping Ichigo.

Ikkaku x Yumichika. I want to know more about their past!! Couples who fight and keep secrets together, stay together. For real though, Ikka hides that he has a Bankai from everyone except Yumi and he hides the true form of his Zanpakuto. They seem polar opposite, Ikka is a meat-head muscular bald brute and Yumi is an elegant delicate beautiful guy. But in reality they’re both bloodthirsty and savage fighters.

Kyoraku x Ukitake. Also want to know more about their past! Best friends since the academy, they’ve known and been partners for a thousand years, always fighting together and protecting each other, always enjoying their time together.

Ulquiorra x Orihime. A monster and the woman who didn’t ever fear him and taught him what a heart was.

Isshin x Masaki. Forbidden romance, a Shinigami and a Quincy, they saved each other against White, and he gave all his powers for her and they lived a joyous normal life as humans and became parents.

Yoruichi x Soi Fon. Master x servant, but without too much power imbalance. Fon idolises Yoru and is a sticker for the rules, but Yoru is very chill. The only thing she wanted was to not get left behind, why couldn’t she bring her along when she escaped Soul Society? This caused Fon to be hell bent on surpassing her and even more rigid in her rule abiding. But after getting her ass kicker, she resume worshipping the ground Yoru walk on, this time as her equal (Bleach)

Shikamaru x Temari. Best pairing, from the chunin exam, they had chemistry and an interesting dynamic. Shika needs someone to kick his ass into gear.

Asuma x Kurenai. Tragic perfect couple. Really sad *sob*, poor Kure, Mira and team 10.

Naruto x Sasuke. Should’ve ended up together. There’s no way someone is so obsessed with another guy unless they’re in love. “Because you’re my friend” my ass. Naru had a panic attack when he thought someone killed Sasu. Got stronger for him. Forgave him after everything he had done, after he killed so many people.

Sakura x Ino. Should’ve been together, ex-best friends, both obsessed with Sasu. Should’ve have overcome and made up in the chunin exams, after their fight (Naruto)

Hizashi x Aizawa. From classmates to teachers! Hizashi cares so much and he’s the only one who calls him by his first names, always bothering him, but also letting him sleep. They’re basically a married couple.

Mirio x Tamaki. Cuute, super friendly and very shy couple. Both had difficulty with their quirks, but learned and motivated each other, now two of the strongest in the entire school. Mirio is Tamaki’s light, always believing in him and saying that one day he’ll manage to eat even the Sun and surpass him, he just needs to have confidence in himself.

Kirishima x Bakugo. The only one Baku trusts, and can be completely comfortable and himself with. Treating him as his sidekick, but also believing in his abilities more than anyone. Always patient and accepting with him.

Hawks x Dabi. Could’ve been great. Hawks going undercover in the League of Villains, getting closer to him, learning about him, and maybe finding out the thrush about Endeavour and defecting for real. Mostly headcanon, but even in the series they have this weirdly intense moments, the sexual tension! Also I think there’s more to be revealed (My Hero Academia)

Hisoka x Illumi. ‘All the best people are crazy’ personified. Probably really toxic and deranged, two crazy good fighters, always teaming up and conspiring together. From the Hunter exam, to Yorknew, to the election arc, to the boat en route to the Dark Continent. Hisoka paid Illumi to kill him, that’s basically a marriage proposal in Hisoka weird fighting language. They’re insane and probably actually working together even now. Also very weird, Hisoka gets hard in good fights, even agains 10 years old and Illumi has the worst brother complex (Hunter x Hunter)

Hiei x Kurama. Should’ve been canon :( A fire demon and his fox, Hiei is such a fanboy, like he’s always complimenting and hyping him up and is always ready to defend him. And Kurama is the only one who can get away with teasing him. Immortal super strong demon couple.

Kuwabara x Yukina. Soo cute, I shipped it from the start. Kuwa is so protective, a real knight in shining armor, and Yukina is always there to welcome him back and heal him

Yusuke x Keiko. Such loyalty and steadfast support. Always there and ready to help each other, they’ll always come home to each other, no matter the obstacles (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Yami x Charlotte. Asta x Noelle. Gaja x Lolochepka. All very cute and adorable, I’mrooting for all of them. Finral x Vanessa. Best BROTP, I would’ve loved if they actually had romantic feelings for each other. Definitely better for Fin than some random noblewoman (Black Clover)

Gajeel x Levy. The best!! From enemy to friend to lover! He basically tortured her, then when he joined Fairy Tail, he looked out for her and tried to protect her. He became intrigued and they got closer and closer, during the time skip they were together. Same job, same house. Lily, Gaj’s partner knows that Levy always comes first, she’s the one he cares about the most, so his duty is to protect her.

Sting x Rogue. Yin and Yang, Light and Darkness dragon slayer. Always together, the strongest combo, Rogue always believes and relies on Sting to keep his darkness away.

Gray x Juvia. From enemy to one-sided attraction, to love. Juvia start as kinda of a crazy stalker obsessed with the person who defeated her and saved her, making her rain disappear. But she’s really devoted and caring towards Gray. And he starts to treasure her as a comrade and friend, but also wants to make her happy and feel loved.

Natsu x Lucy. Stranger to best friend to I love them together. They’re so comfortable with each other, they would and have gone incredibly far for each other.

Jellal x Erza. Friend to enemy to lover. Childhood friends turned enemy because of brainwashing. Later he tries to atone by distancing himself from her, but whenever they meet he’s always ready to protect her, and their attraction is undoubtable.

Zeref x Mavis. Very tragic and angsty cursed couple. They meet, spend time together, fall in love, he unintentionally kills her, becomes crazy, wants to destroy the world, she tries to stop him, he hurts and tortures her, he is defeated, they are reincarnated and can finally be peacefully together.

Elfman x Evergreen. Surprisingly cute ship, had no idea these two would work so good together, but they really really do (Fairy Tail)

Erwin x Levi. From enemy, I was contracted to kill you, to partners, tell me what to do and I’ll do everything for you. Erwin is the smartest and Levi is the strongest, together they’re invincible. Levi made a promise before Erwin died and he’ll keep it no matter what.

Ymir x Historia. Surprising and actually good, Ymir seemed cold but was actually trying to protect her, she reveals her secret to protect her once again, Historia is obsessed with getting her back. Too bad it didn’t work out (Attack on Titan)

Kanda x Allen. Always clashing and bickering, but fight together well. Kanda accidentally screws Al over because of denial and trying to forget about his ex-lover’s reincarnation Karma, but manages to have a nice final moment with them. He then swears to follow and defend Allen throughout his journey.

Lavi x Lenalee. Lavi cares a lot for a Bookman, who is supposed to be neutral and observe history without interfering. Always trying to protect her and lift her spirits (D.Gray Man)

Takemitchy x Hina. Mitchy determination and devotion to Hina and saving her is incredible. And she can motivate him with just a word and she’s always there to care for him when he most needs it.

Kokonoi x Inui. Kinda canon, kinda not, slightly unhealthy relationship. Childhood best friends, Koko had a crush on Inu’s sister and when their house burnt down tried to save her but mistakenly took him. Obsessed with money because he wanted to pay for her treatment, but didn’t make it in time. Now they live unsatisfied and with a bunch of unsaid things between them.

Baji x Chifuyu x Kazutora. Such complicated dynamic. Fuyu loves and idolises Baji. Baji is really close friends with Kazu. And Kazu killed Baji, but Fuyu still cares about him.

Kakucho x Izana. A king and his knight. Really codependent on each other. Tragic ending.

Hakkai x Mitsuya. Hakkai is such a fanboy and only has praises for Mitsuya. Living and working together in the present timeline.

Draken x Emma. Sweet and tragic *sob sob*. Emma had the hugest crush in Draken and is always trying to get his attention and take care of him. Draken may seem cold, but he loved her deep down and was ready to do everything necessary for her to be happy (Tokyo Revengers)

Yamamoto x Gokudera. Interesting dynamic, always at each other’s throats, and can’t actually work well together, but when things get serious they’ll fight for each other. Yama can be silly and joking, always thinking everything is a game and doing things instinctively, but if someone hurts anyone he cares about he becomes a deadly badass. Dera is instead very rational and methodical, but still very protective of his friends.

Mukuro x Hibari. Muku was the first one to ever defeat Hiba, he swore vengeance, and Muku takes every opportunity to rub it in his face. They don’t actually meet that often, but they know each other’s strength better than almost anyone and believe that in their strive for victory, the will not be defeated by anyone other than them.

Xanxus x Squalo. Loyalty, Squalo vowed to serve him as his right-hand man and to never cut his hair until he loses. Xan can be a dick and seem to not care, but if he’s hurt right in front of him, he’s ready for retribution.

Colonnello x Lal. Cute, she was his trainer, he had a crush on her, he followed her to the Fated Day and sacrificed himself for her, even if it didn’t work out. Even now they’re so adorable every time they meet. When the opportunity to lift the Arcobaleno curse presents itself, he wants to do it for her.

Ryohei x Hana. Very surprising, can works really well. Ryohei is a meath-head, only thinking of boxing and training and she thinks all men are monkey and she’s best friend with his little sister (Reborn)

Nagisa x Kayano. That kiss, Kayano totally has a crush on Nagi.

Karasuma x Irina. They’re so cute for such badass people. Irina having a crush on Kara is adorable and trying to woo him, but it not working because he’s oblivious. Them resolving their issues and Kara saving Irina in the Shinigami incident. For a government agent and an assassin they manage to settle down very comfortably (Assassination Classroom)

Alibaba x Morgana. To strangers to best friends to lovers, Morg really cares about her saviours and always tries to protect him and Aladdin. Ali finds her attractive, but he doesn’t do anything other than worry for her and be by her side, until the end of the world is imminent, then he proposes.

Judal x Hakuryuu. Juda always wanted to be Hakus’s magi, but Haku always refused. It’s not until he traveled the world and Sindrian and gained powers on his own and was defeated by Orga that he asked Juda for help. They work very well together and they’re very dedicated to each other, Juda was prepared to learn more grand scale magic that would exhausts him just to help him reach his goal and Haku is also very worried about his wellbeing and he’s better with him around. Haku is also the only one who knows Haku’s real name and visited his hometown (Magi)

Soul x Maka. Best meister and weapon pair. They manage to be able to work well together, they cover each other’s weakness. Soul is very protective and Maka is ready to accept every part of him.

Death the Kid x Black Star. God of Death junior obsesses with symmetry and loud assassin who swore to surpass even the gods. From rivals to friends to believing in each other more than anyone else and saving the other when they need it (Soul Eater)

Kamina x Yoko. I loved them *sob*. They had some real chemistry. Kamina is a chad and Yoko is the coolest (Gurren Lagan)

Kageyama x Hinata. Perfect combo, they’ve taught each other so much, how to play together, how to be a real team, how to be rivals and best friend and how to become even stronger. Going through very high ups and some downs, they manage to overcome everything, from studying to different opinions in how to play the game, to the most difficult opponents, to life.

Iwaizumi x Oikawa. Iwa was always there for Oi, to play with him, to support him, to help him through his insecurities, to help him win, to reach the same goal. From childhood friends to the future, they’ve always been together and even if they’ve chosen different paths, they’ll always have each other.

Kuroo x Tsukishima. Kuro was Tsukki’s mentor, the one who with Boku finally convinced him to try harder and become better, because only like that he cloud enjoy volleyball to the fullest. Daichi x Sugawara. Dad and mom of the group, captain and his vice, same age (Haikyuu)

Aomine x Kise. It starts it’s Kise, player who can learn any moves by just seeing it being bored and wanting a challenge, and Ao, a prodigy who loves basketball more than anyone else. Ao inspires Ki to try basket and even having started late, he manages to catch up to the strongest players very soon. Ki is always challenging Ao to improve, but even if he wants to win and surpass him, deep down he doesn’t want him to lose. Ao also really cares about Ki, he punches a guy who wanted to hurt Ki, even risking being disqualified from the tournament and wants Kagami to be serious and at his best when facing Ki. When they double team an opponent together they are unstoppable.

Midorima x Takao. Hilarious, Mido is always ordering and being carted around by Taka. Taka is always teasing him, but on the court they are an amazing pair. Mido blindly trusts Taka with everything he has and Taka is ready to support him in anything he may need.

Kagami x Kuroko. Perfect pair on the court, strongest light and shadow pair, thanks to Kuro’s passes Kaga can play more freely. They learn a lot from each other and are always overcoming the next obstacle together.

Yuga x Riko. Super cute, he really cares about her, to the point of actually eating her cooking after he saw how determined she was. She promised him to not cut her hair until they won and she gets jealous when he looks at other girls (Kuroko no Basket)

Hiruma x Mamori. Started from distrust of the manipulative jerk who coerced Sena, her childhood friend/little brother figure into the rugby club. Also joins as a manager to keep an eye on him, good at organising, the only one smart enough to keep up with Hiru’s intellect, good at memorising strategies and signals, becomes invested in his wellbeing, start to care about him, always there to support him and take care of him. In the end goes to college with him instead of Sena (Eyeshield 21)

Kojiro x Kaeoru. Divorced but still fucking parents energy. There is no way they aren’t gay for each other… “We still have heat other, don’t we, Kaoru?” <3 Always bickering, know each other better than anyone else, always insulting and fighting the other. From classmates who loved skateboarding to adults with jobs, that participate in underground skateboard race with a secret identity.

Langa x Reki. Soo cute, Reki being the best friend and hype man, getting Langa into skateboarding, them having fun just hanging out together. But they still have realistic progression, to Langa wanting to do more and seek out the next thrill, no matter where from to Reki feeling left behind and inferior, but still trying to protect and encourage him (SK8)

Victor x Yuuri. Mentor and student, the one who inspired Yuuri to skate and the one who will spark new inspiration in Vic, to better himself next year. They learnt so much from each other and are always ready to support and motivate one another.

Otabek x Yuri. Super chill friends, inspire and motivate one another, really comfortable together, always trying to spend time together, saving and helping each other (Yuri on Ice)

Daewhi x Mira. Soo cute and beautiful and angsty. From enemies to best friends to lovers to being separated for years to married. He starts by beating her, to being her teammate, to fighting together and protecting each other. But then they are both on the brink of death but brought back by different people for different purposes and are separated. She doesn’t remember him, he looks for her for 17 years and doesn’t want to hurt her even when she’s on the opposite side. Are separated yet again, but thankfully reunited, but they still have a war to fight.

Mori x Ilpyo. “You have no idea how safe you make me feel” kyaa <3 From friendly teenage martial artists rivals to gods. Mori is very straightforward and obsessed with fighting, Pyo is very cunning and strategic, but also really cares and want him to be better because of a promise he made to his grandpa. Even after being beaten Mori cares and acts friendly with Pyo, even protecting him and granting his wish. When Mori is stuck in the Sage Realm, Pyo goes looking for him and they then keep protecting each other and fighting together to get back home. Even after 17 years, when Mori reappears he trust Pyo unconditionally, no matter what anyone says to him.

Baek x Uma. Very surprising, she falls in love with him almost immediately, he saves her because his father told him to always take care of someone who has given you their heart. She dies but her soul remains attached to him and so she’s always with him. They try every mean possible to get her body back, but are separated. Even 17 years later he’s still waiting for her and trying to find a solution (The God of High Scool)

Baam x Khun. “I wish I had met Bam first” “Ah, I see he was loved”. Very naive and innocent Bam, trying to follow his everything Rachel, and cunning and ruthless Khun, who completely believed in his sister, only to end up betrayed. Their character growth is astounding, they keep growing as individuals but also part of a group. Like Bam confronting Rachel and threatening to kill her after she pun Khun in a coma or Khun deciding that he would do everything in his power to help Bam and to keep his light from being snuffed out.

Urek x Garam. He met her when he was broken-hearted and it was love at first sight, he tried every which way to impress her without results. He’s always trying to get her attention and flirt with her without any success. Probably deeper, we’ve seen Garam advising Endorsi about deciding if she’s cursing on Baaam because he has the power to become a slayer or because of who he is. That’s similar to her situation, she’s a disgraced princess of Jahad and Urek is an Irregular with the potential and enough power to slay king Jahad, but he’s not interested, he cares about going outside the Tower and they probably had a disagreement about it, since their wants are different, the only things left for him was avoid the floor of death and anonymously help her (Tower of God)

Eames x Arthur. “You mustn’t be afraid of dreaming a little bigger, darling” kyaa <3 Always bickering and teasing each other but working together flawlessly, they have each other’s back. Mostlyheadcanon about their past and how they met (Inception)

Sherlock x Moriarty. Unconventional detective and crime lord love story, “Catch me if you can, Mr. Holmes.” Kyaa <3 Will has a plan to reform England class system by making him, a noble, the number one public enemy and being defeated by the hero, Sherlock. They unexpectedly become friends and even while Will is hiding things, with Sherly he can just me comfortable and let go of all his responsibilities and plans and just be a normal intelligent person enjoying time with his equal. In their final confrontation Sherly decides to save him and they both fall, they spen two years together in America, healing and just living together (Moriarty the Patriot)

Izumo x Seri. Such a cool couple, second in command from different groups, always flirting, going undercover at parties and kicking ass is so badass. He’s the owner of a bar and lost both his best friends, she comes to his bar every so often and requests the strangest drinks, also afraid of losing her boss. Comfort and understanding, always exchanging information and helping each other even if they’re on opposite sides.

Mikoto x Totsuka. Totsu became Izu and Miko’s friend after insistently trying. He was the weakest, and very careless with his safety, so Miko and the rest of Homra are very protective, he’s the mood-maker and the only one who could talk back to him and calm his anger and aggressiveness, silence the beast howling for destruction inside of Miko, an effect of his power. After his death Homra is on a path of vengeance and Miko is slowly losing it and in the end he joins him very soon after.

Mikoto x Munakata. The red and blue king, fire vs ice. Polar opposite, raw unbridled violence vs cold indifferent calculations, both stubborn. They are often on opposing sides, but are good friends and equals, trust each other to keep them in check and do what needs to be done if they go out of control.

Saruhiko x Misaki. Childhood friends, Misa is an idiot but quite emotionally smart and a good person, Saru is very intelligent and quite detached from the world around him, they become friends and do reckless things, until one day they catch Homra’s eye and are saved by them, so they join. Due to the new environment, Saru’s jealousy and him being uncomfortable with Miko as his king, they separate ways with Saru being an asshole before leaving. After joining the Blues, Misa considers him a traitor and is they always fight, but eventually they solve their differences when Muna sends Saru on an undercover mission where he could die and Misa ends up saving him (K)

Shizuo x Izaya. Really violent ship, always at each other’s throats. A human with monstrous strength and a manipulative arrogant asshole, who loves all humans and hates monsters, but is still fascinated by them and trying to use them to bring chaos and make him god. They try to kill each other multiple times, usually with Iza swiftly escaping and Shizu chasing after him, sometimes Iza tries to frame or put Shizu in dangerous situations, others they just fight until someone is seriously injured.

Kasuka x Ruri. Kasu, Shizu’s brother, isn’t able to feel basically any emotions, so he chose acting as a career to try and express himself to the fullest. Ruri was a make-up artist for Kasu and later became an idol, she was secretly used for occult rituals and experimented on because of her supernatural healing ability. When she finds out her father, whose life was being threatened by her captors, was killed years ago, she goes on a rampage and escapes, she then becomes the serial killer Hollywood, leaving her victim’s unrecognisable. In an encounter with Kasu, she is saved by his words, him feeling like a monster because of his apathy and her because of how she is, they come to an understanding and are able to accept even those part of themselves.

Shinra x Celty. Very weird but surprisingly romantic. Eccentric doctor obsessed with his father’s experimente, has the strangest friends and a dullhan without her head, can’t speak unless she has her phone. They actually really care for each other and even I’d Shinra cam be pretty Creepy and controlling and possessive, Celty is amazing and tolerates every side of him and when given the chance to reclaim her head and go black helm, she decides to step wurg him (Durarara)

Lelouch x CC. LL is always teasing him, their interactions are so fascinating and entertaining. But still they have the utmost trust in each other and keep on rescuing and saving the other, even if they don’t admit it out loud, it’s because they care and not just because they can’t have them die for their plan to succeed. “If I destroy the world and remake it, it’ll be because of my accomplice, CC”. Kinda happy with Lelouch of the resurrection (Code Geass)

L x Light. Kinda unhealthy normally, but Light without his memory handcuffed to L <3 Deadly game of car and mouse, trying to always be a step ahead the other, getting close to each other to win and find secrets about each other, but really starting to care and become friends. Even Kira was sad after he killed L, he knew nothing could cure his boredom now. Without anyone in his way he started becoming overconfident and deleting his work to others, making him sloppy and allowing N and M to defeat him (Death Note)

Guren x Shinya. Super devoted and loyal to each other. Guren loved him enough to cause an apocalypse to try to bring him back to life. Shin is always teasing him and bickering with him, but he really cares for him, he’s constantly covering for him and cleaning up his messes, assisting and support him in combat and out and there is no one he believes in more.

Yuuichiro x Mikaela. They’re obsessed with each other. Mika is so self-sacrificing and ends up dying and becoming a vampire, Yuu swear vengeance and to become stronger, when they meet again, nothing else matters but them and the other’s safety. Mika would do anything for Yuu, even taking care of the other humans in their group and Yuu is so happy to have Mika back, when he dies again, he’s obsessed with getting him back, not matter if he’s become a demon.

Crowley x Ferid. Vampire partners. From Ferid killing everyone Crowl ever cared for 700 years ago to now where whatever Ferid says, goes, no matter what. They’re so chill and strong together, Ferid is actually stronger but Crowl instinctively protects him, he always goes along with his plans, no matter how crazy and how much even his subordinates try to dissuade him (Owari no Seraph)

Lawless x Licht. Their names are Jekyll and Hyde. Lawless is a broken servamp, interested in theatre, always quoting Shakespeare, who’s lived too long and passes time by choosing rich eves and killing them when he gets bored of them. Licht is an internationally famous piano prodigy who can move people to tears with his music, he thinks he’s an angel and really cares about animals but not humans. They’re always bickering, but Hyde is also very protective of Licht, initially in a nobody can play with you but me kind of way, but then in a caring way. And Licht call Hyde a demon and is always kicking him, except when he’s in his hedgehog form, but he helps him overcome his past and he’s geniully distraught when he’s hurt.

Kuro x Mahiru. Really good! Mahiru helps Kuro through all his problems, motivates him to fight once again and helps him regain his true form and mend his relationship with his sibling (Servamp)

Yogi x Gareki. So cute!! From Yogi being super protective of Gareki to him actually caring, winning him a bracelet and wanting him to not worry. Them helping each other and constantly saving each other when they need it.

Hirato x Akari. From arrogant teacher and mischievous student, to SSS asset and researcher, always absorbed in his work and manipulative captain of squad 1 of Circus. Hira is so protective, he’s ready to body anyone who so much as puts an hand on him, at the same time, he’s always teasing him and wanting to spend time with him, trying to get him drunk or in the weirdest situation (Karneval)

Yuri x Wolfram. One of my earliest yaoi ships. The only couple where I’m happy when they slap each other XD Simply wonderful (Kyo Kara Maoh)

He Tian x Mo Guan. I had no idea I would get so attached to Redhead and here I am, I ship them so hard. Rich manipulative asshole x poor aggressive hard-working thug. After they’re all on the same side, you can really see Tian getting interested in Red and trying to get his attention by whatever mean, always teasing or play fighting him. Also he becomes super protective, every time White goes after Red, Tian is ready to throw hands and murder a bitch. Also throwing money at him just to spend time with him and do things for him, giving him an earring to replace the old one he was forced to have <3 Them just taking care of each other every time, both physically and mentally.

Zhan Zhen x Jain Yi. So cute and funny and wholesome <3 Childhood friends, Jain developing a crush, Zhan being protective and caring form him, not wanting him to disappear or get hurt, Jain making moves because he just loves him too much, Zhan accepting him and always making sure he’s safe and happy (19 Days)

Kirishima x Yokozawa. Really cute. Yoko is trying to get over his unrequited crush, and after he got drunk he finds himself in Kiri’s bed, he then tricks him into going out with him and sling the way they fall deeply in love! Very wholesome, especially Yoko trying to parent Kiri’s kid.

Takano x Onodera. Soo good! First love to estranged to lovers!! Where they end up working together and Taka is trying to rekindle their romance, this time better and more mature. And Ono is trying to resist but deep down he still loves him and is slowly wing won over.

Yukina x Kisa. Older baby-faced man has a crush on younger extremely popular man. Fascinating dynamic, trying to overcome insecurities, exes and various other difficulties (Sekaiichi Hatsukoi)

Uenoyama x Mafuyu. Super wholesome and emotional, getting past traumas and playing music together.

Akihiko x Haruki. Good chemistry, Haru has a crush with Aki, but doesn’t really act on it, Aki knows and when drunk tries to do it, after sobering up he realises that he doesn’t deserve Haru, but still wants him and wants to be a batter person worthy of him <3

Akihiko x Ugetsu. Yuki x Mafuyu. I loved these as well *sob sob*. Why can’t we have everything? Very slightly unhealthy relationships, but still very beautiful (Given)

Yuki x Momo. From fan to member of his group. He was always there to support him, first as an enthusiastic fan and then as a friend during his darkest moment. Became his equal but still kept trying to help him by trying to look for new opportunities by any means possible (Idolish 7)

Asami x Akihito. Very hot crime boss and hotly cute photographer trying to take pictures that show him guilty. Very kinky, from punishment to care to real love (Finder)

Charles x Rayflo. Vampire slayer vampire x the one who made him one. Seems like they don get along, Cherry’s always insulting Ray, fighting and aggressively feeding from him, but he deeply cares about him, he’s always so gentle and caring afterwards, also he’s super protective, whoever touches Ray better watch out, because he will find you and discover a way to kill you no matter what or how immortal you’re supposed to be. Would do anything to save him and spend more time together with him (Vassalord)

Shiki x Akira. Super hot. Shiki is super controlling and dominating and with him Akira is so submissive (Togainu no Chi)

Noiz x Aoba. My fave <3 Aoba has an ability which allows him to mix his consciousness with other people's through his voice and use it to control them, though he can also destroy them and leave the victims in a comatose-like state. He’s a caring, honest, and open-minded personality, but has a short temper. When he’s distressed, his other personality awakens that desires chaos and destruction, and can be very sadistic and masochistic. Noiz doesn’t feel anything, no touches, pain or temperature changes, causing him to sometimes hurt other, his wealthy parents thought him a disgrace and imprisoned him so he ran away from home. Now he lives indifferently to the world around him, often acting reckless due to his inability to feel pain and turning to a virtual game where he can feel and illusion of sensations. He’s an information broker and a skilled hacker.

Koujaku x Aoba. Childhood friend, compassionate and strong-willed, a bit of a womanizer. Illegitimate son of a yakuza leader, him and his mother to escaped. After getting a special tattoo, he mindlessly killed his family. Despite his dark past and impulses, he retains a positive and gentle personality.

Mink x Aoba. Mink is from a tribe that grew special herbs to give a person them a sense of peace. Because the plant's effect was mistaken as mind manipulation, his tribe was slaughtered and Mink was captured to be experimented on. After he Mink broke out, began plotting his revenge, as a result, Mink hardened and distanced himself from personal attachments. He has a stoic, ruthless, controlling personality, constantly using violence as a means to reach his goal. Despite his rough exterior, he does have integrity and a gentle side he rarely shows.

Clear x Aoba. Clear is an android who loves singing. Always cheerful, polite and kind, he can be childish and eccentric, his antics often cause others be annoyed with him (Dramatical Murder)

Ivan x Giancarlo. My fave <3 Gian is a lucky motherfucker, expert in jailbreak, this time it’s been decided that if he can break out with the other executives, he’ll become the boss of the mafia. Ivan is a foreign executive, always try-hard, wanting to be acknowledged and respected, maybe a little excessive at times.

Giulio x Giancarlo. Really crazy and bloodthirsty fucker x lucky one

Luchino x Giancarlo. Suave heart-breaker with issued and a past and a very interesting personality.

Bernardo x Giancarlo. Childhood friend with trauma and fear of being buried alive (Lucky Dog)

Haruka is such a based character

Her story so far has been such an amazing ride and we're only 14-15 episodes in. She starts as this somewhat selfish and bratty teenager who doesn't care for much except for her fame and status as a mangaka but over time we see her grow to care for a lot more in life.

From episode to episode we see mostly through her perspective and how she feels about Saruhara, Tsubasa, Kijino, and especially Tarou in a way we don't always get with other Sentai teams. While we do see teams being friendly and forming a found family, it's not often we get someone who isn't a red rangers perspective and developing feelings for their team.

ToQger and Gokaiger we know that these people are found family and besties for life through the groups growth but Haruka as a POV shows us how she's maturing and how she is learning to accept the craziness of the world and changing as her world view is being challenged by the existence of monsters, heroes, and people being unalived in front of her eyes multiple times.

Comparing her behaviors from episode 1 and 2 to the two most recent episodes and the trailer for episode 15, she has already matured so much to wanting to remain a warrior and help Tarou through his mission and being more accepting of her duties and responsibilities than she was in episode 2. Out of everyone, she was the most skeptical and critical of Tarou in early episodes and now is the one who is the most desperate to get him back and the most resistant to Jirou and its so interesting to see.

Her devotion to Tarou is also no longer self serving to return to her life as a mangka because even when she did do that, she saw how her life wasn't giving her the same form of satisfaction or motivation. Her pathetic boyfriend made her interests seem secondary, the job wasn't giving her any challenges, and she knew who had to take her job instead and it was upsetting seeing her substitute lose all of her hard work. Comparatively, Haruka is so young that she can rebound from this plagiarism scandal but her replacement is not nearly as lucky as she looks to be at least 5-7 years older and her photography wasn't just a side thing during school, it is her life and making someone else take it is selfish and Haruka realizes that on her own and doesn't hesitate to lose it all if it meant someone else got to live their dream.

She grows so much in episode 10 and it looks like episode 15 will be another huge growth episode for her and Saruhara and I couldn't be more excited to see how it ends. She is easily the stand out character from DonBrothers and my favorite yellow ranger if anything.

Glancing upward, he sighed as she brought up things like university.

"Yeah, that's not really for folks like me." Kojiro insisted, promptly sliding the final box into the pallet, before reaching for a nearby thick roll of plastic wrapping. Sliding the start of the sheet in between the two most center rows, he began moving in a circle around it. "Most of my living stipend from my scholarship basically all goes to my ma' so that she doesn't have to work, and last I checked, most scholarships aren't meant to cover cost of living for anyone besides the student, usually."

Walking with a confident stride as he pressed the plastic to the sides of the boxes to best-encourage it to adhere and form a tight package, "So yeah, I'm pretty much only really shooting for a big league. Japan's soccer scene isn't... Great. Our adult team has never placed higher than Round of 16, so I need to go abroad AAA to make sure I can keep my spot on our national team, because we definitely have a shot."

Nodding, though, as she got him off the subject of the future, Kojiro smirked as his project was complete, "Yeah, poaching goals is definitely my favorite part of the game, along with rushing down the pitch with the ball, and plowing through the defense."

But then as she described her position, he nodded, Point-Guard did immediately remind him of some things, though when she brought up assists, his brow furrowed. He figured it was a defensive position, but he supposed no.

"I guess, we have Midfielders, but that's a varied position, if you play closer back you're more like the center third's last defense, about stealing passes; but playmakers are more about assists. My friend Takeshi is in your year, he's my playmaker." He was going to leave aside the fact that his greatest rival was a playmaker too, but he didn't usually want to admit that despite tying in their last year of middle school, Kojiro still felt like Tsubasa was the better player.

"But it's soccer, so a lot of positional stuff is based on the context. At the school level I'm all over the field because I'm the best player on offense and defense, excluding our goalie. But nationally, I pretty much stay as far forward as I can, since European players are extremely robust."

Taking one final satisfied look as he considered his final pallet for the day, "Well, that should probably get me the big-bucks." It was a touch of sarcasm, though, Kojiro had arranged for some extra produce to be delivered to his family's place the next day, if he finished. "So were you in this part of town for any particular reason? I don't usually see anyone from school out here."

'Okay, but the future is still on your mind, isn't it? Aren't you worried about that? If you're going into sports, most people would think about going to university teams or leagues or stuff like that.' Which she herself has considered, being on the basketball team and playing for as long as she has. She's not sure if she'll ever play professionally, but being on a college team and getting a potential athletic scholarship is something she's definitely had on her mind with graduation only a year away.

'I'm sure you've got plenty of time to figure that out though!' And maybe it's better to take it one game or day at a time.' Part of her worries that she's being rude or intrusive. She likes to ask questions about… lots of things. About the world, and of course, about people. When it comes to knowledge, Kimiko can admit that she's ravenous. There's never too much out there to figure out, that's what she says. 'But being a striker must be fun though. Scoring all those goals. You must have been playing and practicing for a while if you're good enough to be on a national level.'

Kimiko beams the moment he brings up basketball, something she both knows a lot about and has great love and passion for. 'I'm a point guard for my team. I score, sometimes, but my main job is to help my teammates score and get easy shots at the net when I can. Give them the best passes I can, you know?' Maybe not as dramatic or flashy as some of the other positions, but one she enjoys regardless. 'I'm sure there's a similar position in soccer. Soccer has assists, right?'

Volume 3′s Call.A and Call.B present CLAMP’s commentary on Subaru and Seishiro’s deep compatibility + the value of “ordinary” people who fulfill their unique dharma through being grounded in their “work”.

When it comes to the issue on compatibility, despite their hearts being the direct inverse of one another’s, Seishiro and Subaru are compatible about very interesting details--aside from showing that they are both weird af, this chapter in particular highlights the fact that, despite their exalted roles as onmyōji, neither of them considers themselves “special”.

Quite the opposite...

Given Subaru’s selfless dedication to his work as demonstrated in these two chapters, Seishiro’s little “all-too-real” speech is a shoutout to the people who are following their destiny and dharma precisely because they are very much grounded in their everyday reality.

More importantly, however, I dare say Seishiro is admitting that he admires acknowledges Subaru for the same reason. To me, the first speech bubble is very descriptive of Subaru’s astrological Moon sign in Capricorn--someone with his feet on the ground who works hard every day.

Subaru, on the other hand, struggles to see himself as someone of value. 

And like... this, as per usual, is so relatable?

Especially at this particular point in my life in which I find myself asking, not necessarily whether I am doing enough, but whether I could do a bit more than what I am already doing towards reaching my goals.

And we all know what Yuko would say: There are no coincidences in this world, what is there is hitsuzen 必然.

Fangirls in CLAMP!

OMG I had forgotten how much I looooove Tokyo Babylon and Subaru!

I just absolutely adore him sooooo much! Subaru captivated my heart and soul since the very first moment I read TB. 

Anyways... I’m supposed to be reading xxxHolic along with ma 🍒, but since I got my TB omnibus volumes out of storage I couldn’t help myself and started another TB re-read. What can I say? I have manga ADD. 

And I have to say: It’s sooooo delightful to read TB on paper again!

Having just finished reading Tsubasa not too long ago, it’s cool to see how far CLAMP has come as mangaka. TB is a great manga but compared to the monster that TRC is, you can tell how much more nuanced and intelligent CLAMP has become since TB.

Again, not that TB isn’t any of these things, it’s just that TB is the beginning of a 30-year-old journey during which they have perfected their craft.

Ah... seriously, CLAMPism is a mood.
