My name is Lew Wentz.
I am a 69 year old gay criminal defense lawyer. I have been keeping journals for 47 years as of September 14, 2024.. I am writing a book based on the journals.
I came out as a gay man in 1984. I was married to a woman then. I left the marriage after telling her I was gay.
My younger sister, Zoe, who I was very close to, died rather suddenly of pancreatic cancer in May of 2023. She gave me permission to blog the last two weeks of her life. Those blogs run from May 1 to May 14, 2023.
I journaled my journey through the turbulent 1980's and 1990's. During that time, I was pretty vocal about being gay. I volunteered to help people with aids through their illness and death. And, I believe because of this, I was fired from my job as a deputy Public Defender in Modesto California. I also documented the 12 year relationship I had with my partner, Jim, who died in 2009.
I wrote pretty much daily about these events and many others. I never intended for the entries to be made public. But, I now think they should be, as they weave what I believe to be our common story of what it's been like to be out, human and gay in the past four decades.
And, as I journaled, I developed ideas and ways to journal and wrote about them in the journals. I discuss the impact journaling has had on me. And, the amazing revelation reviewing journal entries for the blog and book of just how incredible our lives have been. Memory fades. The journal details do not.
My hope is that , after reading the blogs, and maybe some day the book, you too will become addicted to journaling. Your life on paper will amaze you down the line.
My blog became one and one half years old on August 5, 2024.

it's obviously for exposition reasons but CP9 showing up in Water 7 and IMMEDIATELY unveiling themselves and fully explaining who they are and how their organization works is so funny
Lucci spent 5 years pretending he could only communicate through pigeon ventriloquism, and as soon as he stops he doesn’t shut up. Just immediately yapping about being secret government agents, the structure of their covert organization (that's not supposed to exist), and world government's secret plans for mass destruction. Starting to think Hattori was actually a safeguard so they could make it that long undercover

(I'm not caught up to the anime yet, but I'm a firm believer that there's no wrong time to rewatch Water 7)
Rewatching Water 7 with @bluegreeblin has led to some moments in time, to be sure

A very neat fact about the hunter-nin of Mist: they have a special barrier ninjutsu that can protect specific body parts [such as an eye or a hand] and this jutsu is so important and secretive that not even the Mizukage knows how it works or how to get rid of it. The only ones who know the process are fellow hunter-nin
Given my overall headcanons for Kohari, I fully believe she taught this barrier to Iruka, swearing him to utmost secrecy as she did. Not even Ikkaku knew they could use it. This barrier is how he managed to take a fuma straight to the spine and not end up fucking paralysed - he passes it off as just being lucky, which nobody questions because luck is the name of the game as a shinobi, but really he used the barrier to protect his spine, causing the fuma to slide off and lodge itself to the side of the column instead
Still a terrifying back wound that could've had dire consequences and causes him chronic pain and limits what stretches and movements he can do, but no longer as bad as it would've been had he not made the split second activation

#really just want to see agni (and grace) being cool 😳 if that's not obvious enough#忠 on hatz's back means loyal#the sky is filled with shinsu loops (inspired by water dragon heavy storm technique but less destructive in exchange for wider range)#also if you haven't connected the dots yet. grace and jinsung are having a spar somewhere. and Agni is keeping it inside a massive barrier#he set up the barrier with shinsu devices ofc. not purely Agni's power. we can see him doing some typing there since he controls it#Also I forget if i have it written on future chapter or discarded it on this update script. but just in case i don't. here's an explanation#the barrier was meant to keep the chaos inside to stay inside. but because the shinsu on lower floors aren't as concentrated as upper floor#and shinsu inside the barrier was condensed with Grace's power. If the barrier was completely blocked off it'd be easy to suffocate inside#so they need the outside shinsu to be able to cross inside or Agni wouldn't be able to stay inside. Thus I imagine it like a one way valve#it's easy to cross from the outside but hard to get out without deactivating the barrier. and that was why Hatz was trapped#Laure on the prev chpt must've noticed that the flow of shinsu got siphoned somewhere and thus the 'something is wrong' feeling#but no one else notice bc it'd prob feel like a passing breeze. considering with how big a floor is#tower of god#tog#two sides of the same coin comic#my comic#my art#khun#koon#khun a.a#khun aguero agnis#hatz#rak wraithraiser#rak

I find it so funny when the dragon riders get competitive (especially in the TV shows) and think they can beat Hiccup at anything when it comes to dragons
like dude. Come on. He literally discovered the techniques they use. He's been riding and handling dragons the longest out of anyone. Hell he taught EVERYONE how to do it in the first place. He is a master of his craft.
and they think they can BEAT him?

The Two Cups Method: Theory and Practice
Tumblr media
"You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and mercy will follow me, and I will dwell in the House of the Lord for Endless Days" (Psalm 23)
The Two Cup Method is one that is simple, yet undoubtedly a big space for philosophy and contemplation. Put simply, you use two cups. One is filled with water, referencing your current situation, and the other is empty. One cup is labelled with your current situation, and the other with the desired transformation of the situation. As the rite or prayer or action progresses, the water is moved from the undesired situation to the desired situation (the full to the empty).
That is the simple form, but it can also be very complex.
Emptiness:
The empty space in the cup is related towards 'Potential Energy'. It exists outside of what we perceive it to be. You can refer to this as 'Akasha', the subtle element or Tattva, Aether, Spirit, Void or simply Potential Energy. We have not given form to it outside of the label, and so by adding the water - we are providing the energy we're giving to this situation to a new situation with a new energy. It represents possible experiences, and all possible paths that can be had.
Transference
By Law of Sympathy, we're taking the energy from one situation, the 'negative force' and moving it to a new state. Our moving of the energy from one glass to the other helps us in defining 'action' and 'strength'. By Sympathy, the energy moves from an undesirable state to a desirable state.
Adapted Method
2 Cups, one filled with blessed water.
Two pieces of paper.
A white candle
Sugar (put in the empty cup)
A separate bowl.
Take the cup with the water, and one of the pieces of paper. Write down your situation, your name and birthdate. Keep it simple, focus on a big issue that might be blocking other issues. For example, let us say you're dealing with finances, emotional issues - but you also find out that a person is envious of you. That could be evil eye, so you want to work to a space where you're not dealing with all these issues plus this person's energy in the situation.
The paper that you wrote your issue is put under the glass of water.
Now take the other paper, write your 'goal' on this. Let's deal with a space where we're protected, and we're free from hidden enemies. You can pray during this.
Put some sugar in the empty glass and put the glass on it.
Now light the candle and sit, meditating on it. Say your prayers, your invocations, ring your bells, do your basic preliminaries and then get started with the issue.
Focus on the glass of water - see it in its beauty. Imagine yourself in that glass, and feel the energy of this situation right now. If you're dealing with fatigue from evil eye, feel that fatigue. Feel the feelings of sorrow, pain, anxiety that this situation has brought you. Let them come out and infuse the water. Energy is energy, there is no good energy or bad energy - no life, no death. Nada, energy is energy in motion and manifesting itself in various ways. You avoid the negative, you're not going to transform the energy that gave you this desire to change. We want to feel better but that means we have to acknowledge what it is that is making us feel shit. You can go and journal about this to Kingdom come, because the desire to transform that negative feeling is an inspiration from that same negative feeling. You want to experience comfort and joy, so you acknowledge that you are feeling discomfort and sadness, and that negative energy becomes the baseline by which you compare your eventual changing experience.
When you feel that the cup is infused with all that 'negativity', that spiritual motivation of "I feel like this, and so I know that there is something better than this that I aspire towards", you then take it and move it to the empty cup.
Put yourself in that cup, feel that negative energy that formed your motivation, and then transform it. Imagine, give it like two or three days and you see your situation improving, how do you feel? Do you feel relieved? Do you feel grateful? Are you happy? Imagine all those feelings radiating outwards, balancing out and transforming the 'negative' into 'constructive' energy. Imagine, you get your new house, or you manage to pay that bill, or you finally start getting traction in a business venture. Imagine the feeling, the pride, the happiness, the fulfillment, all of that and pour it out into the cup.
The sugar helps to preserve, to attract and to ensure that the item stays. It neutralizes any excess 'negative' energy that was waiting around and it also acts like a reward. When you drink that sweet water, you feel sweet and you smack your lips and say 'this water tastes nice'.
Now you drink that water, you drink the sweetness of your desired outcome and you let that water, and that energy, radiate through your body, into your past, present and future. You begin to feel the cleansing and the transforming energy. Try and embody those feelings, even for like a minute. A minute is still a minute worked, thirty seconds of meditation is still thirty seconds, one prayer is still one prayer.
Put the cup down. Take out the two pieces of paper. The paper with the 'negative' situation should be folded away from you. Put her in the candle and then slap her in the bowl so that she can burn. Her energy is transformed by fire, purified by fire, until she is reduced to the basic energy (represented in ashes).
The positive or desired outcome is folded towards you. If you got any sugar left in that cup, put the paper in the cup and then cover it with a small plate. Keep it like a talisman until your situation has improved, and then you can dispose of it. The ashes should be disposed outside or flushed down the drain.
Finish your prayers, snuff out the candle and move on and girlboss.
