🎭I’m not saying that Uta wouldn’t be possessive over you as that would be simply a lie. However, his overall possessive drive is not on a constant high as it would be in comparison to the other characters on this post. Sure, he has his days where he is all but unwilling to let others do as much as see you and vice versa and may lock you even away as he doesn’t want you to go anywhere but those are not the majority of days. After all on other days he wants to show you off and even takes you outside with him. There is this firm grip that he keeps on your hip the entire time, red pupils glaring at everyone who gets too close but those emotions won’t interfere too much with the day itself. It is sometimes mentally draining to see him switching back and forth between those two moods but it is the best that you can receive with him. If he is being very possessive and you manage to get on his nerves by triggering this emotion Uta will punish you though, preferably by sinking his teeth into your flesh and feasting on your blood. If he isn’t being like that though you are actually capable of interacting with people outside, though you are constantly being supervised by him.

Arima Kishou

🤍Arima draws a very firm line between the life he has with you and the life that he leads outside of it. There is no such thing as getting you involved in his work and as a matter of fact he actually does such a good job with separating those two lives that people only find out months later that he is even in a relationship to begin with. As someone working as an Investigator and especially as someone as feared as he is, Arima calculates the potential risks that come with it for you. Ghouls may try to attack you as a way to exact revenge on him or in attempts to use you as bait to permanently get rid of him. A chance that he is unwilling to leave open which is why Arima keeps you as absolutely secretive as possible. The constant isolation to lessen the danger for you is only one reason though. There is another motive that Arima has but one he rarely talks about as it doesn’t sound quite as selfless as wanting to protect you and that is the urge to keep you for himself. Even people who are closer to him such as Haise and Akira rarely get a chance to have a proper conversation with you as long as Arima is watching and controlling the scene, something he will always do.

Washuu Kichimura

🟣If it comes to being possessive and obsessive then Kichimura ticks both of those boxes with flying colours. Overall I would say that his most outstanding trait is his disturbing obsession with you and since I am ranking based on who is the most possessive, he comes in only as second. That doesn’t mean by far that he is anything but mild with it all. In fact Kichimura is quite open about his feelings whenever you are spending a bit too much time with someone else, said time being less than a minute. A nihilist by nature who believes that all things will eventually end, he has simply settled with the decision that at the very least he will fully indulge in the time that he has with you until that too one day disappears and he is left with the dust of it all. It may initially appear as harmless jealousy even if slightly over the top yet no one could predict the true horrors that await the unknowing person who you gave the time of your day. If it isn’t someone that Kichimura deems as important for his plans he has no problems at all to murder them, openly relishing in the blood rush and his crazed antics as he watches the life leave their eyes before he returns to your side, pouring for more attention.

Tatara

🔻Tatara is the definition of being possessive over his darling as everyone who does as much as look in your direction for longer than a second will be murdered by him. There’s no leniency that this ghoul grants to anybody, not even you. In fact you are often getting punished as well by him whenever there is another name that you can add to the list of people he has already murdered due to your careless decisions. It doesn’t matter if you weren’t even aware of what was going on to begin with, in his eyes there is always going to be something that you did wrong, something that you did to encourage fools who only die as a result of your careless actions which has to end in him having to punish you. Once you are within his hold, Tatara is never going to let you go. A life with him is a life of complete isolation, permanently locked away from other people and sunlight. His possessive side is unwavering and has a gravity to it that threatens to crush you, unrelenting and unmoving. You are forbidden from talking to others and others are forbidden from talking to you unless you wish for more blood to be spilled in your name. To Tatara you are his possession in the truest sense, you only belong to him.

imagine being an affair baby to someone who is basically a cult leader and being raised for the sole purpose to become a womb to preserve that cult leader's blood line so the cult's offspring is always this mutant little baby groomed into becoming an assassin to kill ultimately every one of their own kind except you werent supposed to happen so the cult doesnt really gaf about you so decide to run away with the help of your also illegitimate half brother but you have to starve because you cant get caught and you almost die but not to fret cuz japanese tarzan saves you and decides to adopt and raise you as his daughter so now you have a new life, name and surrogate father except your appetite becomes ravenous and you cant stop overeating as a trauma response from almost dying from starvation and your dad isnt having none of it but ur a boss bitch except u get raided by a fucking federal agency cuz u were being too much of a fatass so u have to run away again and u lowkey become a vagabond but its ok cuz u get to stuff ur mouth as much as you want and so u meet this little asshole who likes books and rip his abdomen open but before u can eat him ur half brother who helped u run away crushes you with steel pipes from a construction area so a terrorist physicist pretending to be a doctor harvests your organs and puts them in that jackass you were about to eat so this dick thinks hes going through shit whining about seeing your schizophrenic hallucinations while ur barely kept alive in a tank so ur dragon organs can be harvested every time they regrow but then u get saved by a hippie ghoul but oopsie ur now in another lab in chains being made to starve so you can barely stay alive (sound familiar?) and lose your sanity all together while the same asshole who got you stuck here in the first place is bitching again about you being his sleep paralysis demon just because you tried to literally eat him a few years back so then your surrogate father tells your captors to leave you alone not because he wants his daughter back but because ur a wanted woman and it’d put your captors in danger but after a short while of freedom you get captured AGAIN by your half brother and used as an organ doner against your will for the third time meanwhile also haunting that guy you tried to kill a decade ago that won’t let it go so he goes and kills your half brother and then kills you to end the rampage even tho ur more of a victim than anyone else in the situation (also the guy who killed you is married with kids to the waiter who took your order on the first date)

10/ I should've read this sooner! I'm pretty sure I would've liked it even more if I was still in high school, but I still couldn't put it down. I haven't seen the anime yet, so apart from knowing that this is Certified Cool Shit I had no idea. The art style at first was a bit repelling for me, I didn't like the face structures but I've grown familiar to it, and I wouldn't care anyway because I really wanted to know what happened next! The story is beautifully written, it's worth to read just for that alone, but we're presented with phenomenal concepts, I love well worked out *creatures* so detailed science of the ghouls was a real treat for me. Surprisingly I found that I could connect to Kaneki really well especially at the notions about sacrifice, destructive altruism, and the motivating desire to provide protection. I loved the exploration of the human condition, and I always love a story that questions what makes us human.

10/ I'm so glad I found this! Almost missed it. It was so refreshing to dip back into this world after a break. I liked the stylized look of this release, I feel like I could learn about the drawing process while reading this, and I'll definitely try to recreate some panels. I love complete stories like this one, for me this is a perfect example, even if it's set in a preexisting world. I love how the conflict of being human, and the essence of being human and longing for that essence is fit in these 7 chapters, with an exciting plot and loveable characters who I could connect to even though I spent only a few hours with them. Even if someone isn't familiar with Tokyo Ghoul I would gladly recommend this manga!

10/ such a beautiful, beautiful story! For me this far surpassed it's predecessor, but I might be partial because I finished this one just now. Either way, I grew to love this manga immensely and I think it's because it moved so much emotion, and called upon the feelings I have in my own life. The story of these characters touched my heart, and the dynamical storytelling kept me interested constantly. Every time I thought the story's gonna plateau there was one more twist, surprising turns and new ways opened to tragedy. I know I'm always talking about the human condition yadayada but honestly, I feel like again, stories like this should bring us together. Being the chainlink between two worlds seems to be a common trope, and I think we find these themes so interesting and hold these stories so close, because we recognize ourselves, and our own torn-apart nature in these characters, and thus we have a way to cope with the conflict of it all. In reality it doesn't have to be ghouls, devils or titans. It's us. And I'm glad to be alive with you all! I'd like to finish with and excerpt from the chapter before the last:

"All those that walk this earth are the main characters of their own tragedies. All steal, and from all, something is stolen. We can't help it. That's who we are. Steal, and be stolen. Imprison, and be imprisoned. Follow, and be followed. Do, and be done unto. Affirm, and negate over and over. And yet we fight ceaselessly to save ourselves from loss. The people and places we love will one day surely be lost. We all will surely be forgotten. Life is sad. Empty. But despite knowing we will one day be bereft, despite knowing we will one day disappear, we still strive in wretched ways. We still wish to be beautiful. And I consider "Which one?". I choose. "This one." Forever choosing. Forever being chosen. Nothing more, nothing less."

hi i am extremely late to this, i apologize. thank you for your question!!

anyways, i am a vehement furuta hater. i adore rize and hold some disdain for every character who has ever caused problems for her, and furuta has caused her the most issues, so i hate him the most. i think he's a great character though and me hating him is caused by him being written well, like that's how i'm "supposed" to see him (which is absolutely not to say that people who love him are wrong, they're not!). i don't post about hating him though bc i think it's a little silly to make frequent posts abt characters you hate. and also, i never want anyone to feel unwelcome on my page simply because they like a character that i don't! so i just kinda keep it to myself.

i do like making jokes about him being an incel 2chan user though haha which is probably the extent to which i'd show hate for him

really interesting character for me, not only him but rize too it kind of shows how much the likelihood of being a bad person increases when your childhood or life in general is just horrible (not calling arima a bad person, he can't really be called a good or bad person) not just them but all of the kids. i like to think that rize would still be rize if she hadn't been born to the washuu clan. obviously missing some factors but she's very much her own person when we first meet her in a sense that they didn't influence her mindset or morale- obviously she's evil and bullshits guys but i really do think that's all her. arima is still his own person, obviously its not explicit in his character but he despises himself for killing innocent ghouls and breaking apart families but the reason he does any of it at all, and not only the clan but the ccg, really influenced it early on and accustomed him to doing this stuff he hated. honestly one of the saddest character deaths for me tokyo ghoul jack really adds salt to the wound. furuta's 'to love and be loved' goal separates him from both arima and rize and even eto, i believe he is one of the children affected by the clan that acts out because of it the most- his nihilism is a direct result and his drive to live a peaceful family life with rize is the cause of many deaths. i really love this genre of antagonists-no redemption but meriting sympathy
