Uncanny X-Men (1963) #9 — Stan Lee, Jack Kirby
God, Thor is portrayed so well here.
Listens to reason, while also still showing his immense strength by very casually breaking Bobby's ice barrier like it's nothing.

Hello and Welcome to the Tea Party! ☕️🫖
As stated in the mini bio, Im 1/2 American, 1/2 Italian (si, parlo tutte due lingue ☺️). I’m also a huge Disney and Marvel fan. I used to be a huge super fan of Star Wars, but I left the fandom after Disney bought it. I still love most of it and celebrate May 4th, I’m just not active in it. I’m a big history buff, preferring to stay in the 1600-1790’s, mainly the Golden Age of Piracy and the American Revolution. I LOVE dragons (kind of an unhealthy obsession at this point, but you can never have enough dragons in my opinion) and am a big fan of the Eragon series. Recently, I’ve started to get more into book fandoms such as ACOTAR, TOG, FBAA, Fourth Wing, etc., so you might see me lurking over in those areas. However, I tend to bounce back and forth between different fandoms depending on my mood. I am over 21, but I would prefer not to disclose my age.
To clarify, I’m not a fanfic writer, but I am an avid fanfic reader. Please do not expect me to post stuff, I’m mostly using this account to be able to connect better with the fandoms that I am a part of.
As mean as it sounds, I will block people who have nothing more than a profile pic because of the scary amount of bots there are on this platform. It’s nothing personal, I’m just watching out for my own safety. Hence why I’m posting this; to let authors know that I am real and I unfortunately do exist in the real world (please send me to a different universe, I beg you 🙏🏽).
That being said, here are the fandoms that I am a part of with the characters that I will read fanfics for (most of them being character x reader format because I apparently have no self control 🤷🏽‍♀️):
Marvel
Bucky Barnes/Winter Solider
Namor (both comic and MCU versions)
Loki Laufeyson/Odinson
Warren Worthington III/Angel
Piotr Rasputin/Colossus
Pirates of the Caribbean
Commodore James Norrington
Lieutenant Theodore Groves
Lieutenant Andrew Gillette (yes, I’m using that version of his name, because I prefer it)
Turn: Washington’s Spies
Major Ben Tallmadge
Major John Andre
Once Upon A Time
Jefferson/Mad Hatter
A Court of Thorns and Roses
Lucien Vanserra
Azriel
Eris Vanserra
Here are movies, fandoms, and characters that I absolutely love, but don’t read fanfics for:
Disney
Treasure Planet
Robin Hood
Peter Pan—Captain Hook is one of my absolute favorites
Alice in Wonderland—The Mad Hatter being my favorite, but the Mad Tea Party scene is my absolute favorite 💙🫖☕️
Hercules
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Zorro—The Guy Williams version is my absolute favorite. I always love seeing fellow Italians (in this case, fellow Ito-Americans) on the silver screen. 💚🤍❤️
Others
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang—I will not accept critiques about this beautiful and uplifting masterpiece. Grandpa Potts is my favorite 🤣
James Bond—I’m here for Q. Desmond Llewyn was absolutely brilliant (fun fact, he was in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as well); I totally don’t recite the line about the grenade pen all the time. Ben Whishaw is at a very close second.
Austenland—Fantastic. I watch this every time I need a good laugh.
The Eragon Book Series—I refuse to watch the movie, as this is my all time favorite book and book series and I don’t want to ruin it for myself. Favorite characters being Angela, Murtagh, Sapphira, Solembum, Eragon, and Brom. I will occasionally read Murtagh x reader fanfics, but there are so few of them, that I read most of them years ago.
Harry Potter Series—Both books and movies. I also like the Fantastic Beast series. I’m going to be blatantly honest; I’m here for the dragons and Charlie Weasley. Don’t get me wrong, I love the stories and what not, but I have a giant fangirl moment every time he’s mentioned, in the stories, and/or I see dragons. I’m kind of like Lampie from Pete’s Dragon, except I get super excited about dragons, as they are my absolute favorites. 🐉
Hook—As stated with Peter Pan, one of my favorite characters of all time is Captain Hook. Dustin Hoffman was absolutely brilliant in this and I love the idea of Captain Hook facing an adult version of Peter. One of my favorite adaptations of the classic story. 🥹
The American Revolution—Not any film or story in particular, but I do love learning anything I can about the conflict and love the period. The exception to this is the TURN: Washington’s Spies series; I LOVE this series. Definitely my favorite TV series of all time. Hamilton the musical is fine, however I don’t care for Hamilton as a person, so it’s weird for me watching an entire production about him (he was pretty nasty in real life). King George was the only thing I really liked about it. Banastre Tarleton and the Culper Spy Ring are the two big things that I will devour information about the most as they are the most fascinating for me. If it weren’t for the fact that I am broke and don’t have time, I would absolutely join the re-enacting community for this time period.
The Golden Age of Piracy—As stated, I am a big fan of this time period. It spans a pretty long time time (most sources put it between 1690-1720, but there are many events that led to this giant boom and they started long before then), but I my favorite pirate/privateer out of all of them is Benjamin Hornigold. He was such a fascinating person and out of all of the pirates that are most famous, I would argue that he stuck to his moral code the most. Otherwise, same as American Rev; besides Pirates of the Caribbean, I don’t have any stories or films in particular. Black Sails is ok and Our Flag Means Death is hilarious, but I have a problem where I start screaming at the screen about how inaccurate it is (mostly with Black Sails. Out of all the things you could mess up, it shouldn’t be that hard to not mess up one of the biggest things in history that is associated with the start of the rise of piracy in the Caribbean, but apparently I’ve been proved incorrectly) 🤷🏽‍♀️.
Thank you for reading my long, extensive bio about myself. Feel free to tag me in any of the works listed above, I am pretty good at reading it, liking it, and placing a comment within a timely manner.
In the mean time, I hope you enjoyed your tea! 🫖☕️ Please pass me the McVities before you leave. 🍪

“Huzza!”  Toasting a New Nation, 1760-1815
Timothy Symington
Genre:  Nonfiction/History
Publisher:  McFarland Books
Date of Publication:  September 29, 2023
ISBN: 978-1-4766-9315-6 Print
ISBN: 978-1-4766-5056-2 ebook
ASIN: BOCK62JP5L
Number of pages: 273
Word Count: 125,000.
Tagline: Drinking toasts to the American Revolution and beyond!
Book Description:
During the early years of the United States, toasts captured popular sentiments regarding people and events.  Sometimes they were used to spread national ideology and partisan political views.  They could even be “weaponized” against political opponents, such as during the bitter election between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson in 1800.  “Huzza!”  Toasting a New Nation, 1760-1815 is a retelling of the familiar historical narrative, but toasts are used to tell the story of the events and people between the American Revolution and the War of 1812.
Amazon     Mcfarland Books
Excerpt:      Israel Putnam of Connecticut, who led the rebels at Bunker Hill in June, was one of the first to be singled out for honors when the war began. The Connecticut Gazette printed toasts from a July 25 dinner in London attended by the Freeholders of Middlesex. General Putnam was toasted “and all those American Heroes, who, like men, nobly prefer death to slavery and chains.” Sons of Liberty leader Dr. Joseph Warren, who was killed on the battlefield, received the following toast from the Field Officers of the Sixth Brigade in Cambridge: “Immortal Honor to that Patriot and Hero Doctor Joseph Warren, and the Brave American troops, who fought the Battle of Charlestown on the 17th of June 1775.” This list of toasts, appearing in the August 21, 1775, issue of the Boston Gazette, or Country Journal started with a toast to the Continental Congress instead of to the British monarch. The officers raised their glasses instead to all the colonies, the Stamp Act riots, Lexington and Concord, and an end to the “present unhappy Disputes.” Dr. Warren would be a consistently toasted figure into the early 1800s.      George Washington replaced George III as the main recipient of toasts, becoming the most toasted individual in the new nation. The King was now the enemy. Even English supporters of colonial rights, such as John Wilkes and Edmund Burke, were replaced by American military heroes. English support for the rights of the colonists, however, had not disappeared. The Virginia Gazette printed toasts the London Association made in October 1775. Association members wished for “axes and halters, at public expence, to all those who attempt to trample on the liberties of their fellow subjects, either in Great Britain or America,” and that “kings remember that they were made for their subjects, and not their subjects for them.”      The former British corset-maker Thomas Paine brilliantly explained why the colonists should no longer rely on the King to protect their liberties. His pamphlet, Common Sense, demanded that Americans free themselves of Britain’s control. Paine wrote that “One of the strongest natural proofs of the folly of hereditary right in Kings, is that nature disapproves it, otherwise she would not so frequently turn it into ridicule, by giving mankind an Ass for a Lion.” His words reached everyone in the colonies, and so he and his work were toasted: “May the INDEPENDENT principles of COMMON SENSE be confirmed throughout the United Colonies.”      Most colonies had already taken Paine’s advice to heart and declared themselves to be independent states. Members of the Virginia convention calling for a resolution for national independence gave toasts in May: “The American independent states” and “The Grand Congress of the United States, and their respected legislatures.” Washington attended a feast at the Queen’s Head Tavern in New York City, where toasts were given to the Continental Congress and the American army, and to the memory of General Richard Montgomery, killed in the disastrous invasion of Quebec in December 1775. The final toast was “to ‘Civil and religious liberty to all mankind’—mankind, that is, except Tories.” Tories, the conservative supporters of the Crown, received extra abuse in the Patriots’ toasts: “Sore Eyes to all Tories, and a Chestnut Burr for an Eye Stone.”

The story of Hattie Ellen Stanley
In my post last month, I quoted from Goss's biography of RBM I, which included the following two lines:
"On November 20, 1894, Mr. Mills was married to Miss Hattie E. Stanley, of Binghamton, and to them one son, Stanley Sterling, has been born [in 1901]. They also have an adopted son, Bert [son of Dora Mills and Cyrus Packard]."
This post aims to expand on that topic by  focusing on RBM I's wife, Hattie E. Stanley, otherwise known as Hattie Ellen Stanley or Hattie E. Mills. I wrote on Find A Grave a simple summary of her life:
Hattie Ellen Stanley was born Jan. 5, 1862 in Binghamton, Broome County, New York. Hattie Stanley of Binghamton, New York married RBM I on December 22, 1894. I think a probable story can be proposed. Hattie was born in 1862 in Colesville, and was the daughter of Adison/Addison Stanley, a farmer (and later a butcher), and Jane M., living in Binghamton from 1872 until 1894. She also had one brother named Alonso who was three years older than her, and one aunt (sister of Addison) named Anna who was 15 years older than her. This residence means it is possible that Hattie, who was a teacher, just like Dora, met RBM I in the Hotel Bennett since he was working there from 1886 to 1896, making very likely they crossed paths. She would later marry RBM I and have one child named Stanley in 1901 after adopting Bert in 1895 (#181795438). Little else is known about her life.
This post was originally published on WordPress in August 2018.
That entry includes a photo of RBM I, Hattie, William and Mabel in 1921, but you can't see Hattie's face!
Tumblr media
Luckily, there is another photo of her, RBM I, RBM III, Carol, and Helen, with the latter three being the children of RBM II, the son RBM I adopted in 1895, in the 1930s:
Tumblr media
We know that in 1901, her father, Addison listed her as his "closest relative":
Tumblr media
Source: "United States National Homes for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, 1866-1938," database with images, FamilySearch, Addison Standley, 1901; citing p. 8725, Bath, New York, United States, NARA microfilm publication M1749 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.), roll 4; FHL microfilm 1,536,169.
Beyond that, we know that Hattie was born in 1862 and died in 1949. Her father, Addison, had been living in Conklin, Broome, New York from 1850-1855. [1] By 1865, Hattie was age 3 in a household, in Colesville, Broome, New York, with her brother, Alonso Hiriam, her 37-year-old father (and farmer), Addison, and 26-year-old mother, Jane Mundane. By 1870, five years later, Hattie, age 8 is living with her brother, her farmer father, and her mother, in Vestal, Broome, New York. She is, like her brother, attending school. Five years after that, in 1875, she is age 13,  living in Binghamton, Broome, New York with her father, now a butcher, her brother, and her father's sister Anna K Watrous. We can also find her in 1880 in Queensbury/Queensberry, Warren, New York, said to be 16 years old, working in a collar factory (with her sister Carrie), and among six other siblings! It must be noted that these ages could be off due to errors by census takers. As such, the 1880 census is reprinted below:
Tumblr media
"United States Census, 1880," database with images, FamilySearch, Hattie Stanley in household of Hiram Stanley, Queensbury, Warren, New York, United States; citing enumeration district ED 121, sheet 155D, NARA microfilm publication T9 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.), roll 0941; FHL microfilm 1,254,941.
Tumblr media
With this, we can move on since there were no state censuses in New York between 1875 and 1892.
We already know, from the 1892 New York State Census, that RBM I was living in Binghamton as a hotel steward:
Tumblr media
"New York State Census, 1892," database with images, FamilySearch, Robert B Mills, 1892; citing , Binghamton, 09, 01, Broome, New York, county offices, New York; FHL microfilm 809,002.
Not far away was Hattie, whom was a teacher:
Tumblr media
"New York State Census, 1892," database with images, FamilySearch, Hattie Stanley, 1892; citing , Binghamton, 05, 03, Broome, New York, county offices, New York; FHL microfilm 809,002.
With this, here is a map of all the places Hattie lived in New York from 1865-1892:
Tumblr media
In the upper corner is an insert of Vestal, Binghamton and Coleville.
In years after her marriage to RBM I, after which she moved to Cincinnati (almost 500 miles away from Binghamton), her father would live in Hancock town, Waushara, Wisconsin (1900), in Bath, Steuben, New York (1905-1915), the last years in the New York State Soldiers' and Sailors' Home. [2]
There is, sadly, no record I have found, as of yet, of their marriage, which would have been presumably in New York. However, we do know, for certain they were married based not only on the 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930 censuses, but RBM's obit in 1950 and RBM II's marriage license application in 1921:
Tumblr media
Source: "Ohio, County Marriages, 1789-2013," database with images, FamilySearch, R.B. Mills in entry for Robert B. Mills and Miriam E. Hirst, 25 Jun 1921; citing Hamilton, Ohio, United States, reference 212; county courthouses, Ohio; FHL microfilm 384,173.
Tumblr media
Says Hattie died in 1949. Hmm, "two nephews and three nieces." Who are they? Packards? DGVallender says in response to this question that "Yes, they are Packards as Robert was born a Packard & adopted by aunt/uncle."
In the process of searching on Family Search, I stumbled upon Hattie's Death Certificate in 1949. Her father is incorrectly named (its Addison, not "Anse") and her mother (Jane) is not even listed. Still, her birth place and year of birth is right.
Tumblr media
"Ohio Deaths, 1908-1953," database with images, FamilySearch, Hattie Stanley Mills, 10 Jul 1949; citing , reference certificate; FHL microfilm 2,247,093.
I also stumbled upon an interesting document, showing that Hattie and RBM I tried to have a baby in 1899 but it died in childbirth (on August 2, 1899), which could be why they were glad to get a natural-born child two years later:
Tumblr media
"Ohio, County Death Records, 1840-2001," database with images, FamilySearch, Hattie E. Mills in entry for Infant Mills, 02 Aug 1899; citing Death, Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio, United States, source ID v 1B p 243, County courthouses, Ohio; FHL microfilm 355,118.
There was also a funeral record for Stanley Sterling Mills in 1934, with Hattie's name again incorrectly listed as "Harriet":
Tumblr media
"Ohio Deaths and Burials, 1854-1997," database, FamilySearch, Robert B. Mills in entry for Stanley Sterling Mills, 02 Nov 1934; citing Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio, reference ; FHL microfilm 1,535,665.
That's it for now. Until next time!
