this pretty much covers the wide array of castes that the nidulli decided on, but wouldnt have really existed in this way on medriaas wayyyy back then.

acedae is an example of what the nidulli would assume a religious family, with only the surnames of her parents' most dominant bloodline and a short blessing trait ("trailblazer" in low sith); sruhya and kharâ would be governmental, only carrying the most dominant maiden overall.

those with five names and a longer blessing are considered royalty to the nidulli. tsaidhâ, a priest (which is ironically still a different caste), carries seven names because he was adopted by a priest and decided to put their name before his birth family's.

all blessings but acedae + loirlâ's are in high sith. mazum doesn't have a blessing, since her family is disgraced.

uhhhh the handful of single names, were all former slaves who had their family names stripped from them. eventually i will go back to working on ffon's family :3

Firstly, I loved Lunar Boy and congrats on the Harvey nom! Also wanted to know if you have any recommendations for stories (any medium, any demographic) that you think has a nuanced take on the intersection between race and queer/trans identity? it's really easy (for me at least) to feel pretty doom-and-gloom about the overwhelming whiteness of queer rep but no! the intersectionality we crave is out there! you just have to look for it!

p.s I really enjoy your approach to criticism and have enjoyed reading your recent posts. I genuinely think it's making me a more thoughtful viewer.

Our Dreams At Dusk by Yuhki Kamatani. While race isn't directly talked about, it's still specific to the realities of being queer and Japanese. This short manga series inspired a lot of Lunar Boy.

Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender. YA novel about a trans masc Black teen going through love triangle shenanigans and self discovery.

The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdar (this author does a ton of sapphic novels I believe). YA novel about two girls starting a rival henna business but perhaps?? Love?? Happens??

The Ribbon Skirt by Cameron Mukwa. This MG graphic novel is available for preorder now, and is written and drawn by a friend of mine :3 the story is about a 2 Spirit child who wants to create a ribbon skirt to wear for the upcoming powwow.

Sergius Seeks Bacchus by Norman Erikson Pasaribu. A collection of poems (translated into English by Tiffany Tsao) covering an array of genres and stories. Beautifully touching queer Indonesian writing, I recommend anything Norman writes.

These are harder to find but for more queer Indonesian film there's Memories of My Body (coming of age story about a Lengger Lanang dancer, Indonesia's drag dance tradition), Lovely Man (a religious young woman seeks to reunite with her estranged father, who is now a waria sex worker) Madame X (extremely camp queer SUPERHERO MOVIE about a trans woman fighting a violent hate group).

Idk if this is available anymore, but I adore To All The White Girls I Loved Before by Sarula Bao. A short comic from Short Box's annual digital Comics Fair (which I recommend keeping an eye out for comics in the indie scene). It's about the author's unflattering desire to assimilate with the white girls she had crushes on. Some pages are on her site.

Those are what immediately come to mind for me but I'm sure I'm forgetting more!! These are the ones that directly engage with the intersection of being queer and POC, as opposed to a character being incidentally QPOC.

Princess Luisa

I have been meaning to post about this Au I made but here it is

To put it simply this is a gender swap au with a bit of role swap. Everything is basically the same apart from the fact Daisy and Peach’s roles have swapped places with Mario and Luigi’s, so Mario and Luigi are the princess of the mushroom kingdom (their family still exist in this au so their uncles/ aunts rule over Sarasaland while their parents and themselves rule over the Mushroom kingdom) Daisy and Peach are they ones from the other world who are plumbers.

King Boo and Luigi meet under different circumstances in this au so they never became enemies, maybe some friendly rivalry here and there and picking on each other at first but nothing crazy, this means their romance starts a lot sooner

This whole thing exists because I wanted to make them lesbians and I wanted Luigi to be the princess he deserves to be, however I don’t have a name for this au yet so I may need help for this (feel free to leave any suggestions in the comments)

So, today I was in Times Square and saw a Microsoft ad that really prominently featured the aro flag. I like to pretend I'm not someone to freak out over seeing my own flag anymore, but like, the idea that aromanticism is important enough for Microsoft to show it in Times Square? Yeah. That blew me away. So I looked up the full ad (it was a much smaller variant in Times Square) and. Woah. Someone at Microsoft knows their queer microlabels. I never expected to see the neurogender flag in the marketing for an evil company?

Like. Pangender and polygender. Androromantic and gynoromantic. Transneutral. Graygender. Maverique. Neutrois. Unlabeled. Ambiamorous. Diamoric. Pomosexual. Intergender. Xenogender. Aporagender. Egogender. Hijira. None of these are identities I'd expect to see used by goddamn Microsoft.

There is exactly one Microsoft employee who I worship and who isn't getting paid enough.

Only after they did all the work of figuring out all the flags and labeling them did I learn that microsoft also did that themselves here. I swear I'm not a Microsoft shill. Fuck Microsoft. But like, this is I think the best corporate pride art I've ever seen, and anything with this many flags in it is guaranteed to make me excited. I just really, really, really like flags.
