The Most Qualified US President JFK
As a staunch supporter of right-wing politics, particularly the Reform Party and figures like Nigel Farage, my natural inclination is to align with the Republican Party in the United States. Conservatism, free-market principles, and a strong national identity are values I hold dear, and the modern Republican Party, despite its internal fractures, still embodies many of these ideals.
However, there is one undeniable truth, even for those of us on the right: John F. Kennedy was arguably the most qualified and capable president the United States has ever had.
Now, before my fellow conservatives scoff at the notion of praising a Democrat, let's take a step back and analyze JFK not through the lens of partisan loyalty, but through merit, leadership, and statesmanship.
A President with Real-World Experience
Unlike many modern politicians who build their careers in the bureaucratic echo chambers of Washington, JFK came from a background that genuinely prepared him for the highest office in the land. His time in the military, particularly as a naval officer during World War II, shaped his resilience, decision-making, and ability to lead under pressure. The famous PT-109 incident, where Kennedy saved his crew after their boat was sunk, showcased his courage and sense of duty qualities sorely lacking in many of today’s career politicians.
Compare this to the political dynasties we see today, where candidates emerge not because of their personal achievements but because of their family name or ideological appeal. JFK may have been born into privilege, but he proved himself through action, not just rhetoric.
A Pragmatist, Not an Ideologue
JFK was a Democrat, yes, but not in the radical progressive sense we see dominating the party today. He was staunchly anti-communist, supported a strong military, and pushed for tax cuts that spurred economic growth positions that would make many modern Republicans nod in agreement. In fact, his economic policies bear more resemblance to those of Ronald Reagan than to those of today’s left-wing Democrats.
His approach to the Cold War was another mark of his pragmatism. Instead of blindly capitulating to Soviet pressure or overreacting with reckless aggression, Kennedy took a calculated stance that balanced deterrence with diplomacy. His handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis remains one of the greatest demonstrations of presidential leadership in history.
A Leader Who Inspired a Nation
One of the greatest failings of modern political leaders, particularly in America, is their inability to unite and inspire their nation. Kennedy, however, had that rare ability to make people believe in something bigger than themselves. His speeches weren’t just empty words they were calls to action. “Ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your country” is a sentiment that conservatives, especially those who champion personal responsibility and national pride, can respect.
Contrast this with the modern left’s obsession with victimhood and entitlement, and you see just how different JFK was from today’s Democrats. His vision was one of strength, optimism, and American exceptionalism values that, ironically, align more with the modern right than the radical left.
The Tragic Loss of Leadership
One can only wonder what America and indeed the world—would look like had Kennedy not been assassinated. Would he have continued to steer the country away from the bureaucratic stagnation that followed in the decades after? Would he have resisted the extreme leftward shift of his party? We will never know.
What is certain, however, is that John F. Kennedy was a leader of rare ability. His blend of real-world experience, economic pragmatism, and nationalistic spirit set him apart from most presidents before and after him.
So yes, while my allegiance lies firmly with conservative values and right-wing politics, I can recognize excellence when I see it. And in JFK, America had a leader who was truly qualified for the presidency a fact that even Republicans should acknowledge.

Everyone say thank you @vesperfloyd for the creation of this gorgeous man! 😍
Got around to finally write Isaac Shepard's bio (don't have mods yet but hopefully will soon get some in game shots) but here he is! Hope Joel Kinnaman doesn't get too annoyed at me borrowing his face but he looks exactly how I pictured Isaac. Also submitting this for @theshepcollective ❤️

Isaac Shepard
Background: Spacer / War Hero
Isaac Shepard was born in 2153 on the SSV New Delhi cruiser, where both his parents were assigned as executive officers.
Great great grandson of the astronaut Alan Shepard, his whole family has been involved in the military and space exploration since. Isaac spends his childhood following his parents from space station to spaceship, loving the idea of exploring the great unknown still out there and making a real difference.
His parents unfortunately pass away in 2167 in a tragic accident: a rogue celestial object hits their transport shuttle and the whole crew perishes.
His maternal grandparents, Arthur and Sylvia, take him in on the colony of Cyrene, but young Isaac is struggling, and feels trapped on the small colony.
He starts running with some bad crowds and using drugs to cope with his grief, until he is arrested for possession and minor theft when he is 16. He spends a year in juvie and decides to get himself straight once out: he attends his missing exams and manages to enlist with the Alliance at 19. He proves himself quickly on various posts, showing a unique combination of street smarts, strategy and physical skills (aside from biotics with which he struggles with) and even succeeds in getting an Engineering degree.
He quickly ascends the ranks and eventually gets to the level of Lieutenant. In 2176, the Skyllian Blitz happens, a major assault led by pirates, slavers and batarian warlords on the colony of Elysium. Here, along with his squad, he manages to rally the colonists against the batarian attack, and when enemy forces manage to break through the colony's defences, Shepard manages to single-handedly hold them off and seal the breach, leading to the Alliance forces winning the battle.
He gets awarded the Star of Terra and after leading a few successful operations against slavers in the Terminus systems, in 2183 he gets assigned as Commander for the SSV Normandy under Captain Anderson.
Alignment: Paragade (do no harm take no shit)
Class: Soldier (but with Kaidan's help eventually manages to be more proficient with biotics)
Lovers: Reyes Vidal in 2183, then Kaidan Alenko, some other flings along the way
Best Friends: Joker, Garrus, Miranda

Day 11 of @remadoramicrofics - That's Disgusting
Remus watched lovingly as Tonks prompted Teddy through the platform. He smiled as Teddy braced himself and set off for the wall before disappearing. Remus glanced around one last time before slipping through after them. As soon as he passed through, he was assaulted by a barrage of noise. Parents stood with their children – some fighting to get away and some clinging to their legs.
Teddy turned to him. “Do you take the train, Da?”
“No, I have to be there early – someone has to welcome you!” When Teddy had turned six, Minerva had arrived at the Lupins’ doorstep with a job offer, noting that Remus would no longer need to be a stay-at-home father.
Remus had politely refused, hoping to spare her the criticism Dumbledore had received following his hire. Minerva was insistent, though, and had roped Dora in on it. Eventually, he had agreed to return to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts on the condition that he could commute from Hogsmeade.
Teddy looked at his mother with wide eyes. “Do you think if I change my hair, the hat will let me pick my house?”
“Which house do you want?”
Teddy froze and Remus watched his hair dull from a vibrant teal to an icy blue. “I don’t know, which one do you think I should pick?”
“It doesn’t matter what house you’re in, Teddy,” Remus assured him with a hand on his shoulder.
“You and Harry were in Gryffindor,” he pointed out.
Remus shrugged. “Yes, but your mother was a Hufflepuff and your Nan a Slytherin. Luna and Penelope were both Ravenclaws.”
“There’s no bad house,” Dora stressed.
Teddy nodded resolutely. “Alright.”
Tonks grinned. “Want us to walk you on the train?”
“No,” he said quickly and set off a few paces ahead of them, muttering, “how embarrassing.”
“Can you believe that our baby’s all grown up? I suppose that makes you a bit of an old man,” Dora teased.
Remus rolled his eyes. “He’s hardly all grown up.” He smiled at her. “Thinking of trading me in for a younger model?”
“Oh, you know I would never,” she smacked him playfully as they followed Teddy. It was getting a bit harder to keep up with him; he had pulled a hat over his head. As of late, his hair had been cycling through house colors while his eyes remained a steely gray. Dora had told Remus that the same happened to her the night before she left – she had been so overwhelmed she could control her morphs.
“Harry!” Remus said as he embraced his son’s Godfather. “Glad you could make it.”
“Are you kidding? I wouldn’t miss seeing my Godson off to Hogwarts.” Harry looked Teddy over. “A bit nervous, are we?”
Teddy shrugged. “Maybe.”
“He’s worried about the sorting,” Dora whispered.
“Oh, nothing to worry about there,” Harry said, “It doesn’t hurt a bit.”
Remus found himself chuckling at the joke. Harry had always looked like James, but lately Remus noticed he had begun to act a bit more like him, too. Sometimes, it was painfully hard to watch – especially the older Harry got, knowing his father had never reached that milestone.
He had felt that way the night he had come home from the battle – he was married, with a son he would raise, but he had spent the whole night wondering if he had deserved it. James and Sirius had never had such opportunities and they were far more deserving, could have been far better at it. When he had confessed these feelings to Nymphadora on a particularly sleepless night, he thought, for just a moment, that she was going to literally knock some sense into him.
She had simply pulled him close and insisted that everyone deserved to be happy and loved – it wasn’t something he had to earn – and that, really, his friends would only want the best for him. More surprisingly, though, she told him that she understood. That the ministry used to harp about survivor’s guilt after missions but that she had never really felt it until that night.
Remus was brought back to the conversation by Dora’s gentle hand on his arm. Teddy was rolling his eyes at something Harry had said and Harry was grinning at them. Remus, despite his usual hesitance at public displays of affection, pulled Dora into a quick kiss. “I love you,” he whispered.
“I love you more,” she said as she pulled him into another.
They broke apart at Teddy’s indignant protests. “Mum, Da, stop! That’s disgusting!”
Remus chuckled and ducked his head to hide his blush but Dora just laughed. “Oh, just you wait, your Nan used to give me a big kiss on the cheek right before she’d put me on the train.”
She lunged for him, but Harry grabbed her. “Run, Teddy, I’ll hold her off!”
Teddy looked like he was considering it, but Remus caught a hold of his arm, “There will be no more embarrassing Teddy,” he declared, calling a truce between the three of them. “But you are required to give your mother and I a hug before you board.”
“A side hug,” he bartered.
“A real hug,” he insisted, “or I’ll let her kiss both your cheeks and sneak her into the sorting.”
“You wouldn’t,” Harry cried as Dora pulled out of his grip.
“Don’t test me,” he warned playfully.
“Fine,” Teddy reluctantly agreed, though he hugged his father tight.
“We’re so proud of you,” Remus whispered as he squeezed his son back, “And we always will be.”
Dora sniffled as she held him tight. “You better write to me or I’ll send a howler of me singing,” she threatened.
“I promise,” Teddy said.
“Want help with your things?” Harry asked.
“Sure,” Teddy said as he bounded for the train.
Dora turned to him, slack-jawed. “Can you believe him?”
Remus grinned at her. “Can you blame him; we’re old and embarrassing.”
“Speak for yourself,” she said as she pulled him into another kiss.

World War II – February, 1945
This iconic photograph captures a U.S. Marine flamethrower operator from K Company charging forward to assault a Japanese pillbox on Iwo Jima’s Airfield Number Two in February 1945 during World War II. The Marine is seen mid-stride, carrying an M2 flamethrower, a crucial weapon for clearing fortified enemy positions. The image reflects the intensity and peril of the Battle of Iwo Jima, where U.S. forces faced fierce Japanese resistance. The battle was one of the bloodiest in the Pacific Theater, with Marines enduring relentless enemy fire and difficult terrain. This moment encapsulates the bravery and determination of the U.S. Marines in securing the island, a critical step in the push toward Japan.

”We fought the wrong enemy”

George Smith Patton Jr. was a general in the United States Army who commanded the Seventh Army in the Mediterranean Theatre of World War II, and the Third Army in France and Germany after the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944.
Born: 11 November 1885, San Gabriel, California, United States
Died: 21 December 1945 (age 60 years), Heidelberg, Germany
Belief in Reincarnation: Patton believed he was a reincarnation of several historical military leaders. He often mentioned that he had fought in ancient battles as a Roman legionnaire, a Napoleonic soldier, and even a Carthaginian warrior. His strong belief in reincarnation influenced his bold decision-making and sense of destiny on the battlefield.
1912 Olympian: Patton competed in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics in the modern pentathlon. This event tested multiple military skills, including shooting, fencing, swimming, horseback riding, and cross-country running. Patton finished fifth overall but controversially missed out on a higher placement due to an issue in the shooting event, where it was believed that one of his bullets passed through an existing hole in the target, not being counted.
Early Tank Advocate: Patton was an early advocate of tank warfare. During World War I, he played a key role in the development of the U.S. Army's Tank Corps. His experience commanding tanks in the later stages of WWI helped shape his strategic ideas, which he would famously use to great effect during WWII.
Sword Designer: Patton designed a cavalry saber, known as the "Patton Saber" (Model 1913 Cavalry Saber), which was adopted by the U.S. Army. His design emphasized thrusting over slashing, reflecting his belief that this was a more effective combat technique.
Fluent in Multiple Languages: Patton was fluent in French and spoke some German. His linguistic skills were part of his lifelong study of military history and strategy, which included reading works in their original languages. His fluency in French allowed him to converse directly with French military leaders during WWII.

We Won The War Apart Was Worth The Wait
It’s such a treat to read a book that ticks all my boxes. We Won The War Apart by Nahlah Ayed is “The Untold Story of Two Elite Agents Who Became One of The Most Decorated Couples of WWII”. The fact that this is a true story and the husband is a Canadian only enhances its appeal. I had to wait several weeks for my name to rise to the top of the waiting list at the library but it was well worth…
