Warangel - I primi ricordi

L'esordiente che non è

Angelo Porazzi lo fa da anni, dal 1986, eppure a guardarlo e sentirlo parlare, ha ancora la voglia di chi ha appena iniziato, dell'esordiente. Cosa fa Angelo Porazzi? Chi è? Ve lo starete chiedendo in molti, e fra poco farete un tuffo nel passato ricordando un nome che potrebbe aver segnato la vostra infanzia (come nel mio caso) o l'adolescenza magari. Angelo Porazzi fa giochi da tavolo. Lo fa da una vita. Dannatamente bene.

Librandosi verso qualcosa di nuovo

Non parleremo dei suoi giochi in questa recensione, bensì del libro che lui stesso ha scritto basandosi sul boardgame che lo ha consacrato in Italia. Warangel. Il gioco da tavola ha la sua scintilla nel lontano 1986, quando Angelo Porazzi disegna quasi per gioco la valchiria a cavallo del drago, quella in copertina al libro, senza sapere cosa avrebbe scatenato poco dopo. Fu l'anno 2000 quando il gioco da tavola riceve finalmente i meritati premi a cui tanto ambiva, vincendo il titolo di: - Miglior Gioco da Tavolo Italiano a Ludex 2000 Bologna - Miglior Gioco Italiano Best of Show a LuccaGames 2000 - Miglior Wargame Fantasy Italiano a Milano Games 2000 - Miglior Gioco Autoprodotto ad AcquiComics 2001 Ma Warangel non è solo un gioco, è una storia che va compresa, come se volessimo raccontare la storia del signore degli anelli con una mappa e delle pedine, tanto per rimanere sul concreto. E' proprio per questo motivo che nel 2006, a 10 anni dalla nascita del gioco, Angelo Porazzi decide di raccontare cosa ha spinto le tante razze a combattersi tra loro, come sono arrivati a un livello evolutivo così avanzato e a cosa ambiscono. Non troverete in questo libro i soliti elfi e fate, ma razze umanoidi e dalle fattezze animalesche perfettamente bilanciate, verosimili ma completamente fuori dall'immaginario collettivo comune.

    Il tomo dei Warangel

Con uno stratagemma sopraffino Angelo Porazzi ci racconta l'inizio, la genesi, facendoci vivere per le prime 30 pagine l'evoluzione della specie e la sua ramificazione in razze proprio attraverso gli occhi degli stessi esseri viventi. La sensazione che si ha è quella di osservare il mondo che cambia, che si evolve nel tempo prima nuotando tra il plancton, poi strisciando in terra e infine raggiungendo il cielo vibrando sottili e robuste ali. Poi arriva l'uomo e la sua arroganza, e allora qualcosa si incrina facendo degenerare la quiete del pianeta Terra in una guerra nucleare. Ciò che viene dopo è tanto doloroso quanto mutevole: le scorie radiattive consumano il pianeta, generando nuovi umanoidi dalla forza incontrollabile e poteri accecanti, generando i Warangel, razze superiori il cui unico scopo è quello di dominare il nemico per porre fine alle continue guerre sul pianeta. Il libro è diviso in due parti, una dove la storia dei Warangel viene narrata, e una dove l'autore parla direttamente a noi, rendendoci partecipi di come il boardgame è nato e ha avuto successo, intavolando una piacevole chiacchierata informale, mostrandoci infine i disegni a colori ritraenti le razze che popolano questo funesto mondo. Non è tanto la fame, è un rispondere a un richiamo irresistibile, è voler partecipare al gruppo e partecipare alla vita dei tuoi simili

Retroscena e morale

Il piccolo tomo dedicato a Warangel non è solo un libro. Contiene al suo interno un profondo insegnamento morale che l'autore stesso sottolinea nella seconda parte dello scritto, e che non vi svelerò adesso. Come pochi libri in giro, al giorno d'oggi, non ha solo lo scopo di intrattenere e far riaffiorare immagini dei tempi passati, quando con le carte e i segnalini sfidavamo il nostro migliore amico, ma tenta di lasciare un segno ben preciso. Tenta di farci capire qualcosa di più grande. Ed è un gesto lodevole.

Concludendo

Warangel: I primi ricordi, è il libro dedicato al decennale del gioco da tavola, è scorrevole e lascia una sensazione piacevole di ricordi lontani che riaffiorano. Se ne avete voglia potete incontrare l'autore a tutte le più grandi fiere italiane, come il Romics, Lucca Comics, Mostra Campionaria di Novara, e molte altre fino a fine anno, per farvi una piacevole chiacchierata con lui ( a me è capitato, non ve ne pentirete). Trovate il calendario degli eventi a cui è invitato proprio QUI. Fidatevi, se non vi verrà voglia di comprare il libro, allora prenderete il gioco da tavola. E' impossibile non rimanere affascinati dal complesso e intelligente mondo di Warangel, ancora vivissimo dopo oltre vent'anni di sfide.   Simone Pinna
