DRAMA REVIEW | Blossoms in Adversity (2024)

I was in the mood for a historical romance story and Blossoms in Adversity seemed like a good idea since it features some of the actors I like. I was pleasantly surprised by this drama. I really thought it was going to be yet another run of the mill romance but what I found was so much more.

The story it's not about romance per se, that's a side story, the main plot of Blossoms in Adversity it's a family torn apart when their patriarch crosses the Emperor in the wrong way (for the right reasons). As a consequence the men, including the children, are exiled to the north and the women, find themselves without the family's fortune and no men to support them. So, out of necessity, they create a matriarchy and end up finding agency of their own for the first time ever with incredible results as they slowly rethink the "rules" they have been living by so far. Slowly, each women starts to show their true self, their personal interests and strong characteristics, they start business, struggle and succeed, the road it's never easy but their bond it's stronger.

I will be honest, you will have to push through at first. There’s some catty behaviour but it’s important to understand that most of these females characters never thought they would be anything other than brides or mothers, as set for the society, but these women prove to be mature and sensible enough to hold proper conversations with each other and realize why they need to work together.

The male lead's story it's also very interesting and it complements well the main characters but I found the women's story far more compelling. This drama is very uplifting and consistent in its characters's development, never betraying them.

Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) Masterpost

Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) is a Vocal synth (Vocaloid and SynthV) music project. It consists of songs themed around different figures throughout Chinese history. The project is a collaboration between different artists and creatives, with music and videos featuring prominent traditional Chinese elements. The project's title translates to "The Records of Magnificence of the Wangchuan" - In Chinese mythology, "Wangchuan" (or River of Forgetting) is a river in the Underworld that can rid one of their past life's memories, similar to the river Lethe.

A mobile game adaptation has also been developed by NetEast. Unfortunately, I haven't played it so I can't give much insight on it. However, I assume that its premise is similar to that of the idea behind the project as a whole: all these historical figures meeting each other in the Underworld after they died. Maybe.

Butterflied Lover: Ep 1-2

You know, communication is so important in a marriage. If you're a demonic poison butterfly with a thirst for human blood, you owe it to your partner to be honest and disclose that sort of thing. It's basic respect, people!

It’s another bright sunny morning for Tang Qianyue. 

She owns a successful rouge shop and has a doting husband- the very handsome military general Ling Changfeng.

But Tang Qianyue has a secret. She may not be as human as she first appears. 

Well, Ling Changfeng, that's what you get when you marry the only survivor of a village that was slaughtered by the evil, poison-loving Butterfly Clan. C'mon guy, didn't you ever see Painted Skin?

Tang Qianyue and her husband go out to enjoy the lantern festival but their date night is ruined by the murderous Butterfly Clan who have disguised themselves as the Hua Cheng Dancers, right down to the silver butterfly masks, bells and red umbrellas. 

In the ensuing fracas, Tang Qianyue is attacked (or is she?) and when Ling Chanfeng comes to her rescue she helps herself to his jugular. Ouch!

But it turns out that was all just a bad dream... or was it?

The Good

This is great- spooky, atmospheric and the plot is really interesting so far.

The music is surprisingly good

Falling Into Your Smile (你微笑时很美) 

Finally back to writing reviews. I’ve watched many shows since the last time I wrote a review but I was just too lazy to take notes on the episodes and how I felt. I re-watched this show a whole month ago but didn’t get to write the review because I fell into a slump. I’m back though. This show is super popular because it has Xu Kai as the male lead, and honestly, I enjoyed this show a lot the first time I watched it. However, after rewatching the show I can say I still enjoyed the show, yet, I wouldn’t say it was super crazy good like how I felt watching Amidst a Snowstorm of Love and Love Me, Love My Voice, etc. The characters were fun to watch, the plot was all about e-sports (which I actually really enjoyed), but I felt like it was missing something to make the show better.

Synopsis:

All-male ZGDX e-sports team loses a player due to a hand injury. They need to choose a replacement for the team. 

Tong Yao is a popular female gamer who is known for her skill but also recklessness. She got into gaming through her ex-boyfriend who ended up abandoning her for the OPL world. The manager of ZGDX, Xiao Rui, messages Tong Yao an invite into recruiting her for the team. At first she is not welcomed by the team, especially Lu Si Cheng. However, as they continue to interact and live at the base, she forms a closer bond with the team and an even closer bond with Lu Si Cheng, the captain of ZGDX. 

This drama was adapted from the web novel “You’re Beautiful When You Smile” (你微笑时很美) by Qing Mei (青浼).

What Episode did the Main Couple Start Dating?

OMg. They literally take a whole third of the show just to establish the fact they are dating. They are officially together in Episode 21.

I don’t mind slow burns, and in this case it was fine because there is a lot of plot in this show in terms of gaming and the e-sports world. There is also just a lot of hesitation between the two, as her ex-boyfriend, Jiang Yang, was also an e-sports professional gamer and they lost contact because of it, and therefore, she originally didn’t want to have a relationship with anyone in the same field. She also hesitates as the fandom is highkey crazy and a lot of people were convinced they were already dating before, and were already shit-talking Tong Yao for “seducing” Si Cheng. 

Si Cheng asks Tong Yao very casually in episode 20 if she wants to try, and she asks “try what?” and he says, me. LOLOLOLOL I almost died here. In episode 21, she thinks he was joking, and was very indecisive on what to do but she almost confessed in a previous episode so I don’t know what she was hesitating for. She then accepts him later in this episode. 

Misunderstandings?

They have a misunderstanding in Episode 17 after Tong Yao gets into a fight at an event with another lady who was in charge of that event. She pushes the lady and that lady makes a whole video accusing Tong Yao of physically hurting her and it goes viral. Tong Yao gets banned for one game. During this time, Si Cheng isn’t talking to her and Tong Yao is butt- hurt about it. He explains later on in Episode 18. 

There’s also another time in Episode 26 where Si Cheng is acting cold and distant with Tong Yao after the harmful package incident with Tong Yao. He ignores her and acts cold with her for days. In Episode 27, Tong Yao asks Si Cheng if they’re breaking up because he’s been cold, however, he consoles her and tells her he’s just angry at himself that he can’t protect her. 

Love Triangles?

LOOOOOOOOOL This show is essentially a harem. Every captain from almost every team loves Tong Yao akjsndkfjsdfs. It was kinda funny. But jokes aside. There really isn’t a love triangle at all. 

Jiang Yang tries to get Tong Yao back, however, she was very set in stone that she wouldn’t take him back. She explains to Jiang Yang that the reason she doesn’t want to get back with him is because he never treated her as someone who could walk alongside him. 

Another funny character who was obsessed with Tong Yao was Kun from FNC, he was soooo funny. I laughed the whole time his character appeared on screen. He just felt like comedic relief tbh. 

Second Leads Romance

OMGGGG. Ai Jia and Jin Yang were so fun to watch honestly. Zhou Yi Ran. my love. My obsession. My fav c-drama actor. Akjsndfkjsnkdfs. Zhou Yi Ran playing Ai Jia was a delight to watch. The first time I watched him was in When I Fly Towards you and his character is so different in Falling Into Your Smile. Their romance was different, but honestly, very true. Jin Yang had no interest in the world of e-sports but she supported Ai Jia throughout it. She ended up buying his team too LOL. and she helped him reconnect with his mom again after she kicked him out for wanting to be a professional e-sports gamer. 

Falling Into Your Smile Ending

Falling Into Your Smile has a happy ending where they win at the finals thanks to Tong Yao. Then, we watch Ai Jia and Jin Yang get married and Tong Yao catches the bouquet. It was a typical sweet ending. 

Falling Into Your Smile Review- A Fun Romance between Gamers

I gave this show a 7.5/10. I enjoyed it thoroughly as it was a fun show to watch with e-sports, friendship, romance, conflicts, etc. If I’m being completely honest the reason why I can’t rate the show any higher is because I just felt the show was mediocre at best. I don’t know how to explain it. I was happy when the main leads got together, and honestly, some of the conflicts were fun to watch and I understood how they dealt with it. However, it was just a fun watch. I can't say that I was obsessed and eager to finish the show. I think the reason I couldn’t enjoy this show to the fullest was because Cheng Xiao’s acting in this show was mediocre at best. She kind of always had a poker face throughout the show aksjbfksds.

The e-sports plot was fun to watch and I did really enjoy that part of the show as this was my first time seeing a plot like this. The fandom being crazy for the guys were super real, the chronic injuries that professional e-sports gamers face was shown, the stigma of being a professional gamer was also explored. I really appreciated and enjoyed these arcs in the story. 

Falling Into Your Smile is a fun watch where you see pro-gamers explore the world of romance, team bonding, dealing with societal stigmas on gaming, etc. I did enjoy the show and it was a cute, fun watch and I didn’t regret the time I took to watch it.

Summary:

Biography of Wang Ru (JS100)

Let's just force refugees back to the desolate war zone they came from.

Wang Ru was a native of Xinfeng in Jingzhao. He began as provincial military personnel. Coming across the chaos, he drifted and moved until he arrived at Wan. At the time the various drifters had gotten a decreed that all of them would be dispatched back to their home villages. Ru, since Guanzhong was wasted and ruined, did not wish to return back. The General who Conquers the South, Shan Jian, and the Commander of the Central Gentlemen of the South, Du Rui, each dispatched troops to send him off, and, with a short time limit, order him to issue out.

Ru thereupon secretly joined up with various untrusted youngsters, and at night assaulted the two armies, routing them. Du Rui with all of his multitudes struck Ru, and they fought at Nieyang. Rui's army was greatly defeated. Shan Jian was not able to hold out, and moved to station at Xiakou. Ru also routed Xiangcheng.

And so Pang Shi of Nan'an, Yan Ni of Pingyi, Hou Tuo of Chang'an, and others each led their partisans to attack the various cities and garrisons, and to great extent killed the Prefects and Chiefs in response to him. Before long, his multitudes reached forty or fifty thousand, and he titled himself Great General and nominal Shepherd of Si and Yong provinces.

Ru feared an attack from Shi Le, and therefore lavishly sent goods to Le, to join together as brothers. Le likewise tolerated his strength and allowed it. At the time Hou Tuo occupied Wan, and he and Ru were not in concord. Ru explained to Le, saying:

Hou Tuo, though in name a subject of Han, is in truth a traitor to Han. Ru often fear he will come invading. Older Brother ought to prepare against him.

Le had a long-standing hatred for Tuo's changeability, but shied away from Ru's lips and teeth, and for that reason did not attack him. When he heard Ru's words, he was considerably pleased, and thereupon he at night ordered the Three Armies to eat at the mattresses and await instructions. At cock-crow, he harnessed up, those who set out late were beheaded. At daybreak, he pressed down on the gates of Yan, and attacked them. After twelve days he overcame them. Le thereupon beheaded Tuo.

Ru hence greatly plundered the Mian-Han region, and advanced to pressure Xiangyang. Conquers the South Shan Jian sent general Zhao Tong to lead a force to strike him. Throughout the year he was unable to overcome him, and with his intelligence and strength both spent, he thereupon guarded al-around and defended himself. Wang Cheng led an army to attend to the Imperial Capital, but Ru intercepted, struck, and routed him.

Ru for continuous years planted grain, but it all turned to weeds. Within the army there was great starvation. His partisans attacked and pillaged each other, and when the official army advanced to chastise, they led each other to come and surrender. Ru made planes that nothing came out of, and reverted to Wang Dun.

Dun's cousin Leng was fond of Ru's dashing martial ability, and requested that Dun assign him beneath his own banner. Dun said:

Such people are fierce, deceitful, and difficult to nurture. You are by nature hostile and irritable, and unable tolerate and foster. It will turn into a disaster in the end.

Leng firmly requested it, and he granted it. Leng set up his various left and right, and he to great extent was increasingly treated with favour. Ru several times competed at shooting with Dun's various generals, and frequently at the contests made mistakes and lost. Leng as a result did not tolerate it, and caned him. Ru to great extent considered it to be shameful.

Earlier, Dun was not on the track of a [loyal] subject, and Leng always admonished him. Dun often was angry with him for differing with himself. When Dun heard that Ru had been humiliated by Leng, he secretly sent people to incite him to anger, and encourage and cause him to kill Leng. Ru went to Leng, and on the occasion of a leisurely banquet he requested to sword dance as enjoyment. Leng went along with it. Ru hence danced his blade as a show, and little by little came forward. Leng hated it, and berated him for not stopping, he bellowed out to his left and right to make them drag him away. Ru went straight forward and murdered Leng. Dun heard and feigned surprise, he also arrested Ru and executed him.

Descripción general del proyecto de sustentabilidad.

El proyecto “Iniciativa Hídrica” es un proyecto creado en la institución educativa del Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Pachuca, esta iniciativa busca dar la solución en los problemas de escasez de agua contribuyendo en la sustentabilidad del manto acuífero local.

Dentro del estado Hidalgo cuenta con 23 acuíferos, 19 cuentan con un volumen disponible de 263 millones de m3, los focos rojos son el de Cuautitlán –Pachuca con mayor déficit de agua potable, manifestó el director de la Comisión Estatal del Agua (CEA), Juan Carlos Chávez González.

De ahí surge la iniciativa de realizar una obra la cual pueda reabastecer el manto acuífero Cuautitlán-Pachuca mediante técnicas sostenibles y avanzadas de infiltración, que facilitará la distribución del agua en el campus y en la ciudad.

Lo cual permite la captura de agua de lluvia mediante una red de drenajes y filtros que permitan inyectarla a los manos acuíferos a 40 metros de profundidad, detallo el director del campus Octavio Diaz Barriga.

Recordando así la importancia del agua para la supervivencia de la humanidad y el mundo entero “sin agua no hay industria, no hay agricultura, básicamente no hay sociedad”. -Abraham Palacios.

Creación de empleos y benéficos.

Se tiene una creación de empleo actualmente muy básica, ya que como se sabe el proyecto aun no ha sido aprobado para realizarse fuera del campus, es decir aun es un proyecto privado si se pudiese ver así, ahora bien, por obvias razones se debió realizar la contratación de personal el cual pueda realizar la obra de excavaciones y montaje de la red de drenaje, los beneficios son realmente positivos este sistema ayudara a prevenir inundaciones dentro de la ciudad de Pachuca, además de optimizar el uso del agua y contribuir al medio ambiente local ya que con la hidratación de las vías alternas de la tierra se nutrirá de agua  a los pozos que proveen de agua potable a la misma.

Esta iniciativa apoya la sustentabilidad al integrar soluciones ecológicas en la infraestructura, además de que tiene el objetivo de seguir con la disminución de la huella de carbono.

Lista de sugerencias que se pueden hacer

La reutilización de aguas grises y la recolección de agua de lluvia son bien conocidas como algunas de las estrategias más comunes de conservación de agua, y se están incorporando para minimizar la escasez hídrica. La reutilización de aguas grises puede representar entre el 43% y el 70% del volumen que actualmente se desecha como aguas residuales (Fane y Reardon, 2013). Ahorrar agua potable a través de un plan de conservación puede tener beneficios a largo plazo (Marinoski , 2018), especialmente en ciudades con déficit de abastecimiento público (Oh , 2018). Pérez-Uresti (2019) señalan que las aguas grises domésticas que provienen de regadera, lavamanos o lavadora, han demostrado un gran potencial de uso para fines que no requieren alta calidad del agua. Koop et al. (2020) indican que, en paralelo, las tecnologías como el reciclaje de aguas residuales y la recolección de agua de lluvia se consideran cada vez más como una medida necesaria. Estudios previos han enfatizado en la importancia de combinar volúmenes de agua de lluvia cosechada y aguas grises para usos domésticos no potables (Marinoski , 2018). La recolección de agua de lluvia en sí misma es una estrategia que ha demostrado tener éxito en minimizar el consumo de agua potable, y no requiere tratamientos complejos (Cheng y Wang, 2018). Además, su cosecha ha ayudado a reducir el riesgo de inundación en áreas urbanizadas (Eckart , 2018; Zhan-Tang , 2019).

Expectativas.

Dentro de las expectativas que a modo personal me gustaría fueran implementadas tanto para el proyecto hídrico como para la solvencia y el cuidado del agua son las siguientes:

Lograr el acceso universal y equitativo al agua potable, a un precio accesible para todos.

Lograr el acceso equitativo a servicios de saneamiento e higiene adecuados para todos.

Mejorar la calidad del agua mediante la reducción de la contaminación, la eliminación del vertimiento y la reducción, al mínimo, de la descarga de materiales (macro y micro materiales) y productos químicos peligrosos.

Aumentar sustancialmente la utilización eficiente de los recursos hídricos en todos los sectores y asegurar la sostenibilidad de la extracción y el abastecimiento de agua dulce para hacer frente a la escasez, reduciendo de forma importante el número de personas que sufren de escasez de agua.

Poner en práctica la gestión integrada de los recursos hídricos a todos los niveles.

Proteger y restablecer los ecosistemas relacionados con el agua, incluidos los bosques, las montañas, los humedales, los ríos, los acuíferos y los lagos.

Apoyar y fortalecer la participación de las comunidades locales y estatales en la mejora de la gestión del agua y el saneamiento.

Decisiones que podrían tomar las autoridades.

Primordialmente es que el proyecto hídrico sea una realidad fuera del campus del tecnológico de Monterrey en Pachuca.

Que este proyecto se implementado a lo largo del estado de Hidalgo para así dar solución y solvencia a la escases de agua en algunas de las regiones del estado.

Invertir en abastecimientos de agua potable y saneamientos con cobertura universal de agua potable y recolección y tratamiento y reúso de aguas grises utilizando soluciones tradicionales e innovadoras y teniendo en cuenta que invertir en mejorar la eficiencia y recuperación de sistemas existentes representa una alternativa factible a la construcción de nuevos sistemas.

Invertir en infraestructura eficiente para garantizar las necesidades y/o controlar excesos de agua. Esta infraestructura debe ser diseñada teniendo en cuenta el nexo existente entre agua-agricultura-energía y sus consecuencias en los planes nacionales, y de cuenca de desarrollo económico sostenible preparados, considerando aspectos de cambio climático.

Modernización de la gestión de recursos hídricos que incluya un marco legal y la creación de instituciones eficientes y relevantes para insertar el tema como prioritario en la elaboración de los planes de desarrollo sostenible.
