Well we have 599 crew mates. Add poisden cause that definitely was a life hurt at least temporarily by 600 strike, 600. Add Polymepheus for being blinded and we have 601. I think that breaking Calypso counts as hurting her since she is probably depressed now, 602. Not coming back for his mom counts in my opinion, 603. I don’t know how many people were in the Trojan war but since he commanded his army probably the entire population minus a few people. Hold up I googled it and population before and after is 6,000 to zero so add 6,000, 6,603. I can’t think of more but someone can feel free to add more if they think of some. TOTAL: 6,603
"hurt more lives than i can count on my hands" yeah bro cuz it's probably like... almost 2,000

Odysseus: I am not your kind and gentle husband. Would you fall in love with me again?
Penelope, already taking off her clothes: Gods, Odysseus, you're so fucking stupid.

Just realized something about Would You Fall In Love With Me Again…
So we’re all in agreement that the main reason Penelope asked Ody to move the bed was to show HIM that he hasn’t changed, that he’s still the man she loves and the man that loves her.
BUT I haven’t seen anyone talk about right before she asks him to move it:
“If that’s true, will you do me a favor? Just a moment of labor, that will bring me some peace.”
Idk about everyone else but at least for me, when she says “if that’s true” it seems to imply that she’s saying “if it’s true that your my husband, will you do this.” But Ody never once before this says that it’s him. When she asks, he only tells her how much he’s changed.
So what she is really saying is “if it’s true that you are not the same, will you move the bed?” Because if he does it, then he really isn’t her husband.
And the rest of the line still stands too- it would bring her peace because she’ll know for sure if he has changed.

The mere existence of the song Would You Fall In Love With Me Again is proof in itself of how deeply and truly Odysseus loves Penelope.
He’s spent 20 years going to hell and back repeatedly, suffering so much loss just to get home to his wife, and once he’s finally made it, once he’s finally home, he still leaves it up to her whether she will still have him. He came all this way accepting the fact that he could come face to face with her and not be the man she needs and that that is her choice to make.
That’s love, that’s respect, that’s humility that even the gods cannot muster.

Would you fall in love with me again? If you knew all I've done? The things I can't undo. I am not the man you knew. I know that you've been waiting, waiting

Odysseus: "I'm not the man you fell in love with, I'm not gentle or kind, I did so many horrible things and killed so many people. Could you love a monster like me?"
Penelope: "Hey, can you move our wedding bed?"
Odysseus: "Wh-what? 🥺"

Ithaca Saga Rankings:
My personal rankings are:
1. Would you fall in love with me again -AUGH IT WAS SO SWEET and the harmonizing?? The lyrics?? The instrumentals??
2. Odysseus - Love how Odysseus is in this, the part where he calls Telemachus “My Boy” and the bloodshed?? The screaming, the guy who couldn’t say mercy??
3. The Challenge -Penelope solo song!!! Vocals were incredible like always, love the lyrics - especially with the shroud part, so sweet.
4. I can’t help but wonder - I LOVE TELEMACHUS AND ODYSSEUS BONDING, I didn’t think that it was on the same level as the other songs, it felt a bit…out of place in the sense that the rhythm & beat didn’t seem consistent
5. Hold Them Down - don’t get me wrong, this song is incredible. An incredible villain song, but the animatic plus the lyrics made me sick, props to Jorge for showing how the suitors were in The Odyssey but genuinely made me sick (especially with my own trauma with SA) so it’s last, unfortunately
Feel free to reblog with your rankings!!

Okay so as much as I like the jokes of Penelope asking Odysseus to move their bed, and then being like "oh sorry I thought we were all asking stupid questions"
I love that part so much, because to me it's like... "You can't move our bed, it's rooted deep in the ground. And you can't move my love for you just like that either. It's rooted deeper than that"
Like... Maybe that's not what it's supposed to mean, but to me it meant this from the moment the words were spoken.
Odysseus says "the only way to move it is to cut it from its roots", and then just... The realization that their love is just like that. Rooted deep, deep inside both of them. Nothing can shake it or move it out of its place.

I'm sorry to rain on y'all's parade but Penelope sings the word "waiting" seven times in "Would You Fall in Love With Me Again," and I genuinely don't know how it keeps getting miscounted as eight

Do you think Penelope overheard I Can't Help But Wonder through her door? Do you think she listened to Telemachus, the son she could never truly be there for because doing so would endanger her, confess to his father things he never had to her about how hard his life had been, things she knew he felt but also knew he never told her because he's always been so strong and understanding of their situation, and felt her heart shatter a little more? Do you think she had to torture herself telling herself that this could very well be some imposter, knowing she had to truly test him with something only he knew, to verify his identity, and thought about her son pouring his heart out to someone who'd just as soon slit his throat as he'd rape her? Do you think about how very plausible this is because Telemachus doesn't have any memories of his father? Do you think Telemachus ever found this out and thought about what if that hadn't really been his dad?

Can you imagine Telemachus standing outside his parents' bedroom excited to hear their reunion of loving words and cries of joy for seeing one another again, but after 20 years of being apart the first thing he hears is them arguing with each other for a hot minute over their marital bed

WOULD U FALL IN LOVE WITH ME AGAIN
aight i just had the sickest idea for a wyfilwma animatic ill never draw lol. also starting from smack down the middle bc why not:
ody starts narrating 20 years worth of war crimes and trauma and his body and facial expessions are very heavy, the lines on his face only grow deeper with each verse and his posture more hunched, grey hairs more visible etc
now when the camera points to penelope the focus here on how she mirrors him bc homophrosyne baby. the crows feet the greying hair the tears in her eyes and the pained expression are all accentuated here bc its hard to add and balance her own 20 years of suffering with odys already quick paced and shifting narrtive
to emphasise again shes not smiling, shes still calculating and thinking, shes pained and you can see how much the passage of time and stress took a toll on her too. she really sells it and ody looks like hes about to die if he gets rejected lol
she gestures to the wedding bed and gives him a final test of sorts (he absolutely won her hand like 5 minutes ago when he strung the bow and shot thru 12 axes hehe) and the very last frame is a smirk from her
ody staggers to their bed, the bed he so carefully and lovingly carved for his love and reached out to a post to make sure its all real. its all really real and hes finally home
he sings the part about how he built it blah blah and then turns around sharply with red hot fury and bitter tears in his eyes "at do you realise what you have asked me?"
now pen is right behind him and yells "only my husband knew that!" and he falls back onto the bed in shock lol bc i think its funny, but also bc now penelope can extend a hand to help him up which is symbolism TO ME for how she pulls him out of the darkest depths of his mind, how she was his tether to reality and sanity all those years away from her and their home. to me its also him like *realising* hes finally home (and ready for their therapy saga lol) by taking her hand its like im home at last, yes im a mess but we will heal. together
BUT WAIT THERES MORE ody accepting penelopes hand is like him accepting HER proposal just after he won HER hand downstairs. god i love them
anyway she pulls him up (my stronk queen) he falls to his knees as he sings penelope and she follows suit, singing that hes her husband through and through and they embrace FINALLY. I PRONOUNCE U HUSBAND AND WIFE U MAY BREAK DOWN IN TEARS TOGETHER. AMEN
OH AND THEY HOLD HANDS. *dies*
