Now that that's out of the way...

Wilson is a popular brand of sports goods and is most known from the movie Castaway.

In Castaway, Tom hanks plays a FedEx guy who gets stranded on an island when his plane crashed.

Among the cargo that washed ashore there was a Wilson volleyball.

Tom hanks places a bloody handprint onto the ball and makes a face in it. Wilson, over the course of the movie, is humanized as the actors only form of companionship.

Wilson is so humanized, that the saddest part of the movie is (SPOILER ALERT) when he is lost at sea while Tom tries to row toward freedom. This scene is so iconic you can still here me scream WILSOOONNNN while looking at volleyballs at your local store.

So, we have an object that has been exalted by man, and turned into a sacred form of contact after being adorned with blood.
