WIP Thursday

The smut is still ever present. And has leaked into many a fic. The word leak may have been used in some of them, or not. Nerdie is unsure and quite unwell. Like I’m physically fine but you, the mind is swirling.

Anyway… 👀 The docket for this week: One Tim, One Marcus, Two Dieters and a trickle of Din.

First up, Tim (he’s got plot to get through thank you!):

Doc and Rockford are seated outside of the diner. The cool air feels excellent on her skin. She feels like she’s burning up. Tim likely understood what his brother meant by her satisfaction or lack thereof and that’s before even mentioning him putting your lab coat on her, complimenting her or touching her stomach. Doc still has to process that. So much has happened. “You wanna talk about why you were out with my brother, the outfit, or me getting you in the car Esme? Which elephant do you want to tackle first?” Rockford would have phrased it differently, but he’s tired from the late night paperwork, being worried about her and now trying to think about how he’s going to react to whatever she has to say. 

Second, Marcus Pike (because he's adorable):

“Hey beautiful! You ready for to go? I’m just going to put away some files and we’ll be ready to go.” Marcus doesn’t miss a beat in giving a swift kiss to Imani’s forehead then heading over to his desk and fiddling with drawers. He’s shuffling papers while stealing glances at the woman seated in his office. “Between the shade of orange, your smiling face and those luscious legs tempting me from across the room, we might be late for our reservation.” The good agent Pike wiggled his eyebrows which had his lady friend holding her stomach in laughter.

Lastly, I wrote some Din (because we don't appreciate Din's early armor enough):

Still holding the knife, she lowered it and nodded, “Yes thanks to you. May I know your name to thank you? I can’t see you very well there, could you step forward?” Taking two steps toward him, she stopped three feet before the shadows from the building obscured him. Heavy boots and what sounded to be metal clinked with his steps. His armor was the answer, he wouldn’t need to really tell her. Silver that reflected the moonlight with a t-visor helmet and a modulated voice. None of his skin was exposed, covered in a mix of brown metal and durable cloth and a black cape at his back. Hints of silver dotted his armor from different pieces and from his weapons. Those are a major tenant of their culture - their beliefs.

Technically, she’d met one of her best friends at a table read for ‘Graceland’ but it didn’t register who he was until there was an entire season making him more central to the plot on the second show. Aisha appreciated that he was serious about getting the character right, adding in changes to better express what the writer’s room was trying to convey. He didn’t do it so much for the slick escapist show on the USA show but she really saw him shine on the screen as Agent Marcus Pike in ‘The Mentalist.’ One thing that the writer’s room voted to write out for his character was all the eating. “No agent is gonna be eating like that,” they always said. Once Dieter Bravo ate the takeout in the scene while dolling out his lines, the director loved it so they quickly pivoted on that creative choice.

And I can’t leave Dieter and Maya out you know! I haven’t been chipping away at them slowly, there’s a lot to figure out. I’m don’t have much on them unfortunately. 😭

Hey! Before I get into your scenario I just wanted to say that I saw your post about what the IF community means to you and it really meant a lot to me. I've also been having a rough go of it these past few months and knowing that something that I'm doing can have such a positive impact on others really lifted my spirits. I truly appreciate you opening up the way you did.

Ok now that I'm done being all mushy! Let's move on to this fun scenario! I'll set the scene. MC is walking on campus with one of the ROs and their not so secret admirer (let's call them Sam) comes up and asks MC out while they're having a little conversation. And to make it more fun lets say that they are objectively hot! 😘

Roxanne/Robbie (is jealous, but really cheeky about it before you're official, then secure and more open once you are 😜)

Crushing: *wraps their arm around MC's waist and kisses them on the cheek while looking at Sam* They are cute aren't they. But we're a little busy. *smirk*

Official: *gives MC a back-hug and places their head on MC's shoulder, gives Sam a long look up and down* Oh did you want to join us. You're pretty cute, but let's see what MC thinks. *bites MC's ear, then whispers* Well MC what do you think?

Joleen/Johnny (is jealous but tries to hide it so they don't overstep before you're official, and simply honest once you are.)

Crushing: *crosses their arms and looks between MC and Sam with a silly pout* And I thought I was special. *starts to laugh* I'm kidding, just messing with you. I mean your hot, and they're hot. And you aren't tied down so... *shrugs*

Official: *grabs MC's hand* Actually, I'm just gonna stop you there. I get it MC is really cool, but we're dating now so...

Delphine/Desmond (Is territorial yet mature before you're together, and then absolutely brazen once you are 🤭)

Crushing: * lets Sam finish their little spiel while keeping their eyes on MC* Well MC would you like to go out with... *smirks and looks at Sam* I'm sorry what's your name again? Right. *looks back at MC* So MC would you like to go out with Sam? *looks from MC's eyes to their lips and back*

Official: *sees Sam approaching, turns MC away and kisses them while looking at Sam over MC's shoulder, Sam turns away and De flips them off behind their back* Sorry babe. Didn't mean to interrupt you. What were you saying? *stifles a laugh*

Rina/Ren (is definitely jealous but refuses to show it, cold and a little harsh before you're official, and then bluntly honest once you are🥶)

Crushing: *looks between MC and Sam a few times, then sighs* Ok well I don't really want to be around for this. I'll see you later MC. Text me if you want. *immediately leaves*

Official: *looks Sam dead in the eye* MC's with me. Oh you want to hear it from them ok. *waits for MC* Ok well now you have. Anything else?

Everly/Everett (isn't used to having competition and is honestly a bit dramatic, this only intensifies once you're official 😆)

Crushing: *stares Sam down* Can't you see MC is with me. *realizes what they just said and looks at MC* I meant that we're talking. No we aren't dating yet. *eyes go wide* I didn't mean...actually MC I think we should talk, privately. *grabs MC's hand and dashes away*

Official: *wraps their arm around MC's waist and pulls them close* Actually were dating now, officially. *turns MC to face them and tucks their hair behind their ear* Not that I can blame you, I've got great taste, and so do you apparently. *grins at Sam* Better luck next time.

Karla (is cautious before you're official always waiting to see how you react, and then sweet and secure once you are)

Crushing: *watches your face intently* I can, I can give you two a second if you want MC. You want me to stay, oh alright. *slight smile, watches MC turn Sam down* Oh you didn't have to turn them down so quickly, I mean they are kinda cute. *runs hands through their hair* You just wanted to keep hanging out with me. *burst into a full on grin*

Official: MC do you want to tell them or should I? Ok, look its really sweet of you, and I totally get it. *looks down, covers their mouth and whispers* How do I say this nicely? *looks back up at Sam* We're dating MC and I. Yeah it's ok I figured you didn't know. *smiles kindly*

Faye (is overly nice (she's a bit of a people pleaser) not wanting to step on anyone's toes while you aren't official, and once you are she tries to be more honest.🥰 )

Crushing: *puts on a practiced smile* Ooooo MC look at you! They're super cute! Are you gonna say yes. I would totally get it! I mean Sam here seems nice. You wanted to keep spending time with me? *tries not to get too excited* Oh ok, only if your sure. *tucks her hair behind her ear, links arms with you, and starts walking away* There's this super cute bakery on...oh right! *turns back and calls out to Sam* Have a nice day Sam! You seem really nice! I actually think I know someone who would be perfect for you!

Official: Oh hey Sam! *giggles* Oh, Sam me and MC are going out. It's ok. I mean MC is great! I actually have this friend...*she proceeds to play matchmaker*

Sebastien (is very confident and not deterred by much before you're official, and then pretty much the same once you are)

Crushing: *puts his arm around MC's shoulder, and whispers in your ear while Sam waits for your response* Regarde qui essaie de te voler avant que je te fasse mienne. *looks up at Sam* Well Sam, MC and I are in the middle of something at the moment. *smiles* You'll just have to try again later. *waves goodbye while walking away with MC*(loosely translates to: Look who's trying to steal you away before I have made you mine. 😍)

Official: *smirks at MC and whispers* Mon petit amour est bien trop populaire. Ah Sam I'm sorry, but MC and I are about to go on a date. Yes we are dating. It's fine. I'm sure you'll remember next time. *stifles a grin* (loosely translates to: my little love is far too popular)

Maxine (is very cautious since they don't want to mess with your friendship before you're official, is bold once you are)

Crushing: I'm going to head to the restroom real quick I'll be right back. *hides out of sight and watches until Sam leaves, then comes back* Sorry to ditch you like that, I didn't want to make it awkward. So how'd it go? The were pretty hot after all. You said you already had plans? Oh. *screaming internally*

Official: *wraps their arms around MC's neck and gives them a peck on the lips, then looks at Sam* As you can see MC is just a tad bit preoccupied with little old me. Move along *literally shoos Sam away*🤣

Silas (for him MC is completely off limits he must do everything in his power so that MC and others don't know how he feels about MC, if you do end up official somehow...he may not want others to know until he isn't your RA, after your freshman year 🤫)

Crushing: *takes a long look between MC and Sam* Hey MC I've got a meeting to attend so I'll uh see you around the dorms. *waves goodbye quickly excusing himself*

Official: *looks at Sam then takes a lingering look at MC* Hey MC it looks like you're a bit busy with Sam here, so why don't you come find me later and we can finish our chat. *leaves giving you with a knowing glance* *MC knocks on Silas' door, he quickly opens it and pulls MC inside pinning MC to the door with their hands above their head, then whispers* I can't wait for when everyone can know that you're mine. 🥵🥵🥵

They didn't need any of those people who used them,those people needed them because they're users.

Like the saying go... Never burn a bridge with someone who looked out for you when you weren't straight. Besides the way life set up,you really never know who you might need again because life always got away of humbling everyone. The same people getting crossed today by these guys starting businesses ,doing real estate etc who keep messaging you ,might have to connect with those same people one day years from now for business. You just never know. Especially with real estate. Anything can happen that's why I treat people how I want to be treated. If it was possible, I’d go back with Imani, Ayo, and Callie and try to…well, try to live. Like she would have wanted. 6. Din’s in the Neighborhood- Modern Din AU that has him meet on OFC DV survivor post divorce. Also Grogu is a human boy and we have Finn/Poe. Notes: I recently had a death at work of one of my coworkers so I’m working it out in my writing. 👀 Given when I’m posting this, it was in April of this year. I still wonder at times if I’m sane but I also think that the definition of sanity can be subjective at times. Point is, Nerdie is self-indulgent as always. She’s all up in her own writing. 👏🏽

Imani Coleman arrived at her last minute appointment with Dr. Julep. It was urgent that it needed to be today. She honestly wanted one yesterday but the office was closed by the time she got off work. It was insane that she’d finished her shift. All of them finished their shifts like that didn’t just happen.

There was an emergency number she could call but she didn’t feel it was necessary but she still needed to see her therapist, just to get the feelings out. To have someone listen. Had she not been so frazzled by the event this week, she would have noticed that a tall, handsome man in plaid held the door open for her. She smiled, but it was polite, she didn’t pay any attention to the man other than the red flannel. That stuck out to her but as she sat down in the waiting area, the idea floated away.

At first she’d spread out, ‘claiming her space’ as her friends and even her therapist told her to do, but she checked her phone. All the people messaging one another about the incident today, how it affected them, remembering how many people came together afterward. Imani closed herself back off and held her belongings closer to herself. However silly, she felt safer that way, for a few moments, it felt like she was being watched. Looking up at the front desk, Vernon was focused on his computer screen. No one else had come in. Imani chased that thought away. Unless some patient or family member was watching her to try and critique what she was doing, no one was looking at her that intensely.

Thankfully, Dr. Julep emerged from her office, greeting Imani and having her follow her to her office. She nodded and walked silently, out of character for her as she usually had a joke or two on the way and even after getting settled on the couch. The doctor sat at her tall stuffed white chair which made her black button down shirt and pencil skirt with red heels stand out all the more. Dr. Julep had scarlet hair with purple rimmed glasses that she put on for reading and when she took notes during sessions. She was a few inches taller than Dr. Mint, making her 6’3” without heels, long, well-defined, muscular legs were crossed and on display. Their cinnamon tone is bright from the natural sunlight from the windows. Some might say she has transitioned, others would claim that she was a man diving head first into their feminine side. What could not be disputed, was track record as a therapist with people and communities who didn’t feel served by many mental health and therapists at large. It’s why Imani came here for this practice. It was the only one that took her seriously.

Dr. Julep is watching Imani carefully. She’s set her belongings down, but hasn’t sat. Instead, the nurse is pacing, pressing her hands together in alternating fists. She doesn’t think she’d become violent or anything, but something is eating at her. The voicemail wasn’t clear and just stated that it was imperative that she talk to her.

“Imani. Dear, if you don’t want to sit yet, that’s okay, but please talk to me.” Still fiddling with her fingers, she gazes in her direction and takes a shallow breath. “I can’t help unless you tell me why you needed to see me today. It’s very clear it is something.”

“I couldn’t scream. I wanted to scream. I wanted to shake things and just sit in a corner and cry, but that’s not professional. Doesn’t help the patients.” Imani finally stops, but just stands. She doesn’t sit yet. She’s looking down, rubbing her palms together in a circle. “I mean, it’s a hospital. The patients are our priority, but it’s also a job. So serious but also not so serious. I went with the others to pay my respects. I…I…had just spoken to him that morning. I said good morning. He was sitting and I was getting some ice or drink or something. He was sitting there in the refreshment room. I thought maybe he just needed a break like we all do, you know?”

Dr. Julep can tell that this isn’t like her at all but lets her continue. It’s a jumbled mess, but from what she can gather, it involves possibly a patient or this man she’s talking about. “Okay. We do all need a break. Was he on a short break?”

Imani nods, it’s then that the tears start flowing. “He never made it from his break. One of the staff members came to get me to check his blood sugar. She was able to and it was okay, so was his blood pressure. We told him, his manager told him and other people told him to go down to the emergency room (ED). He just kept saying that he needed to rest. I just kept working. They’ve been on us about having the vitals and stroke assessments timely and I can see that damn woman tapping her watch with her finger telling us our assessments are late. Plus my stroke patients both have NG (nasogastric) tubes and the one, a ninety-two year old man is in bilateral wrist restaurants which requires documentation every two hours. And that’s just two of my patients, I had three more. But it’s still no excuse…none at all.” Finally she plopped down on the couch, her vision bleary from her tears.

The good doctor stands and takes a box of tissue off her desk and sits next to Imani on the couch, she gives her the box and she blows her nose. “It’s no excuse for what Imani? What do you feel you didn’t do? It sounds like there was plenty to do just with those two patients.”

“There were people going back and forth, trying to get him to go. I saw a friend of mine bring a wheelchair to him, but then everyone said he fell and hit his head. They presume after trying to stand up. They worked together to lift him on the stretcher and get him down to the ED. They said he was scared and they were trying to comfort him by telling him he’d be okay. But I remember how sick he was when he was a patient at our hospital before. I took care of him for a few days. I thought he was better. Another friend went down to check on him but they called a code blue on him…when she said they were still working on him. I knew then…The longer a code goes, the less chance you have of getting the back. He died. He came to work that morning, was working and was dead. I paid my respects to him with the others…at least he looked peaceful I guess. But then we all…just continued working. They had a 30 minute grief thing but then we all finished our shifts. I cried just like I’m crying now, but it’s especially when things like this happen where I wonder if I've been fundamentally desensitized.”

“My dear, is it alright if I hug you? Feel free to say no.” Dr. Julep opened her arms and Imani hugged her. They sat in silence for a few minutes as she sobbed. The appointment ended with no words spoken other than Imani thanking her for taking her call and making an appointment for her today. The nurse left once she had another appointment set up for later in the week.

Marcus found himself at the offices of Dr. Mint and Dr. Julep a second time that week. He hadn’t planned on it, but he’d gotten a call from his supervisor, stating that those two hot dogs were trying to press charges against him. Marcus showed restraint in not calling Patrick Jane and Teresa ‘hot dogs’ over Zoom call, but he was assured by his supervisor that they didn’t have a leg to stand on because in addition to Pike telling Jane not to interfere in the pursuit, so did the squad leader and field leader as well. They had already written their statements along with the other agents who were there and those who’d been in the office. Marcus spoke with Dr. Mint about the fact that the Janes had the audacity to even try to bring charges against him. For an accident, one that would have been prevented if he had listened to any of the three people that told Patrick to stay put.

After his session with Dr. Mint Marcus had his leather jacket draped over his left arm as he was making a follow up appointment with Vernon who was chatting him up about a Wizards game he was going to see later. “They usually lose, but I’ve got floor seats with my husband. He loves them for reasons I don’t understand, but he’s cute when he’s excited like that.” It was then that Dr. Julep walked Imani out to the waiting area. The statuesque therapist was wearing a tan dress with black ankle boots. She patted the nurse on her shoulder and went back to her office.

Marcus recognized the woman who’d been wearing a blue dress when he first saw her. He smiled and stepped back to allow her to be at the front desk and make her follow up appointment too. Today she was wearing a pale yellow cold shoulder top with ¾ sleeves, black capri leggings that displayed her caramel calves. She had on simple black flip flops with white nails, likely from a mani-pedi. She had on pink lip gloss and was chatting with Vernon about the Wizards game too. Marcus waited and hoped it wasn’t weird, well too weird. The elderly gentleman grinned and nodded his head in Marcus’ direction, whispering to Imani, “You have an admirer dear.”

Imani didn’t turn around yet, Pike can hear them, they both suck at whispering. It’s endearing though. “Do I? If he’s here, it could be a huge red flag or a green flag.”

“Green flag dear. He’s got a leather jacket and one of those…henley’s I think.” Marcus laughs and Imani looks back, turning to face this tall, broad and handsome copper toned man who was indeed wearing a red hanley, holding a black leather jacket, wearing dark wash jeans with black nikes.

“Hello…” Imani cleared her throat and swallowed some saliva that had gathered. She placed a hand over her chest and then placed back on the desk, leaning on it to appear more relaxed than she was. This was her admirer? Here’s to hoping Vernon’s right and he is in fact a green flag.

“Good afternoon. I’m Marcus. A walking green flag apparently.” Pike took two steps forward, but kept a foot away from her so as to not invade her space. “You two are very funny and yes I am an admirer.” Imani chuckled and extended her hand, he took it and shook it while they gazed at each other.

“How long have you been an admirer of mine, Marcus?”

“Long enough to where Vernon’s kept track of it but not so long that you should feel weird about it Ms. Imani.” They let go of each other’s hands and didn’t know what to do with them. Imani fiddled with her purse and Marcus went to his pockets.

“Hmm.” She used her index finger and thumb to grasp her chin. “Maybe we should get lunch, I’m a little hungry. Are you? And please call me Imani.”

Flashing a bright smile at her suggestion, he nodded. “I think I could go for some food. Where do you want to eat?” Imani waved goodbye to Vernon as Marcus opened the door for her and they left the office in search of lunch.
