I think it happened organically through some adverse childhood experiences and difficult familial dynamics during my teen years. These two time periods triggered post-traumatic growth responses that naturally manifested as dark feminine energy - it's my natural emotional and psychological home I guess. I knew it was essential to be the leader of my own life, create my unique value system, and uphold certain personal boundaries since I can remember. I've focused on cultivating successful habits to exceed in my education, career, physical and emotional health, etc. while also prioritizing discovering my sense of self, style, values, sexuality, life goals, desired lifestyle, social group, etc.

If anyone is/has experienced any situation that seems similar – feel free to reach out if you want to chat privately (I'm not a therapist, of course, but for a moment of emotional support!).

Some of the daily habits I practice include:

Morning /nighttime routines focused on self-care

Planning my week/day with a big 1-3 tasks necessary to complete to reach my goals

Wearing comfortable clothes that make me feel good (think black knit or cashmere sets for WFH or trousers and cashmere sweater with black boots or white sneakers for outings)

Doing my daily makeup routine, even when WFH

Maintaining a healthy vegan diet (whole foods 90% of the time)

10-12K step walks (5-6 miles) around 5-6 days a week

Reading/journaling daily

Listening to music I enjoy/dance as a leisure activity

for most i use photoshop and play around with gradient colors using different layer styles on manga panels. then i play around with highlights using dodge tool or a new layer using brush tool on color dodge. if i wanna get fancy then ill use capcut (like for the nanami tmz header and wfh!nanami banner) and then work with it as a gif in photoshop.

also yes i make my own mdni too! i make everything on my blog except for the custom css theme and i used to make those back in the day but im far too lazy and troubleshooting code makes me want to jump out my window lmfao.

Thanks to someone buying a mother's day gift from my shop, I was able to purchase a window unit a/c. It covers 250 sq ft, is going into the bedroom, and during the day, I'll have a fan set up to blow cooled air into my sewing room.

I'll be picking it up on Wednesday, along with a support bracket. Reviews all say this one will need it.

We're hitting mid 80s F by the end of the week. I will not suffer another year of waiting hours for the bedroom to cool down with a box fan in the bedroom and blackout curtains closed. Nope!

This means I will also be able to sew over the summer, which has me relieved.

Now, I'm gonna look at accordian style window shades that insulate. I can't use blackout curtains in the living room due to all my plants, same as my sewing room (I have a portion of one window covered with foil due to thr severity of the light). Insulating blinds, however, sound wonderful.

It's unlikely to happen anytime soon, however. Extremely limited funds due to Husband still being jobless. WFH jobs, though there are many, appear to be nope because he can't do customer service, computer stuff, and typing. At least, according to him.

Now, I sleep. Gotta work toward the summer work schedule of working in the mornings.

My poor pooper is so sore from the frequent squits that I've taken to wiping with moist face wipes from a packet. They're so soothing. The greek style bin full of poopy wipes next to the loo is pretty gross though.

It briefly went black last night (!!!) so I called 111 and got referred to A&E. But I didn't go. Now it's back to a more normal colour, I got more medical advice and they said take immodium and you'll be fine in a few days, it's probably food poisoning.

So I'm just gently wfh, sad I have 0 motivation to work out or fuck, play video games or do any PC hospital. At least it also robbed me of my motivation to smoke weed last night though lol.

Commission - Slow going. Moved it back into GDocs so I can write at work. I think the format is what's throwing me the most - it's not a style I usually work in and I am in a touch over my head. It's fully planned and otherwise moving along well.

REDO-REPEAT - Wrote this AFTG fic on a whim, chasing motivation-inspiration to get the gears oiled up. It's not everything the idea could be, but I'm happy with what it is given why I wrote it. Not everything needs to be perfect lol. You can read it here, but do mind the tags.

Original Work - Haven't spent much time on my original work, although I do have an idea percolating in the back of my head that I should probably rough out soon. I have a couple other shorts that need to be re-drafted, but I think I need more space from them before I get going again.

Wasn't feeling great this week for a variety of reasons. I'm trying to catch back up on life after my second ever kidney infection (caught it early enough this time that my suffering was significantly easier to deal with), not to mention worrying and checking in on Winnie daily now that she's due to foal any day now. (Most likely she has a week or two left. However, sometimes they progress very quickly, so it's prudent to be watchful.) There are other things going on beyond that, of course, but suffice it to say I've been overwhelmed and that is not conducive to writing for me.

Have been consistently frustrated that I don't have a good "writing nook", which has been doubly frustrating because I have several places from which to work, but none of them have been facilitating Getting Things Done. This is a problem for writing but it's equally troubling on my WFH days. Lately I've been most productive in bed. I do not like this, as my bed is supposed to be for sleeping only. Have been looking into purchasing a used chair/ottoman for writing purposes, but there are a lot of logistics to consider there.

In a similar note to the above, I'm irritated by the size of my MacBook. It's a 13", which I ordered during the pandemic and decided it was "good enough" upon realizing it was smaller than expected. I no longer think this, as the keyboard is cramped and the screen doesn't have as much space as I'd like. I've considered going back to my old 17" Dell, which I wrote on prior to purchasing this laptop, but that laptop has fallen victim to planned obsolescence and is unable to receive the updates it needs to function at the level I require. I've looked into larger MacBooks (for budgeting purposes, mostly, although I wonder if I could trade-in my old laptops and have enough store credit for a used one?) but so far as I can tell the keyboard does NOT scale, which is irritating, as I'd prefer one with slightly larger keys so I stop stumbling over how close everything is. The other option is go back to Windows, but this is problematic as I very much prefer the iCloud files syncing to access my WIPs from my phone. Basically: no good solutions. I'll have to keep looking, which is fine, because I don't have the budget to get anything yet.

Not sure how to tie this in, as I suspect it's related to most, if not all, of my whining, but I've been noticing yet again that I have more "luck" writing analog than I do when I'm working on my phone or laptop. That makes it harder to track what I've written, but it's functional, and has gotten me through several sticking points.

Not sure what I'm going to work on after this commission is complete. I think, tentatively, that I might finish a JereJean PWP that has been on the backburner for a while, then finish roughing out my ex-mixtape fic (I got sick and ran out of time, so dropped the event) before polishing it for posting. After that, I want to revisit Vestigial, which has been shelved for a while. I'm hoping that if I get back in the groove of finishing stories, I'll be in a better headspace to get back to my original work, but we'll see. Nothing's set in stone just yet, and my writing stamina isn't high enough yet that I can just bust through any of these without long term repercussions. Slow and steady is key for a bit.

I had this absolutely useless coworker that I was trying to train for like literally months and she just had such a shitty attitude and sucked and wouldn't follow instructions or learn anything I was teaching her so like I was essentially doing TWO PEOPLES JOBS for a while because she needed so much help AND IT REALLY SUCKS BECAUSE LIKE I WORK FROM HOME AND SHE WORKS IN THE OFFICE SO I WAS HAVING TO GO INTO THE OFFICE A LOT OT HELP HER and going into the office really fucks up my sense of routine and ruins my entire day I can't mentally adjust lol and like I was so so patient and tried so hard to meet her where she was at and understand her learning style but she was like so unwilling to learn and even would like snap at me if I tried to correct her about something like it just got to be So Much and then she got fired a couple weeks ago HUGE RELIEF and now I'm starting over training a new person (who is a really fast learner and is competent so it's okay what a relief bc i was having ptsd thinking that I'm a bad communicator and I felt super gaslighted and now I know it wasnt my fault) but the old coworker left like a fucking THREE MONTH BACKLOG of her work because she was so slow and was just dicking around watching tiktok all day or something instead of working so like I can't throw the new person into this huge backlog so like temporarily I'm still doing two peoples' jobs while we catch up and then she can start fresh and I can just stay and WFH with my cats fuck my life lol so anyway it got really chaotic in the last week of September and I dropped the ball SO SORRY i'm still chiseling away don't worry I did not forget! harry’s house - harry styles

the album that was the soundtrack to my summer. from going from listening every single day to hearing my favourites from the album live in a few months felt incredible. I haven’t stopped listening since it’s been released. i’ve had it blaring from the speakers any chance i can get at home, and i always go to listen to it as soon as i open spotify. i didn’t know what to expect when we had as it was as the only single leading up to it, but it exceeded all my expectations! it felt like he had the most fun with this album, and he wanted us to have as much fun as he did with it and i can’t not be in a good mood when listening to every song. he amazes me every single time with his work, and i think it will always be constantly on my ‘on repeat’ spotify playlist.

faith in the future - louis tomlinson

the best album to close my year off with! i was really curious to see what the entire album would sound like considering he kept saying this was the music he always wanted to make, and i wanted to see what he has always been working towards. if this is the music he’s always wanted to make, then i am fully on board and will continue to fall in love with his work. it was a mix of songs that each told their own story, and made you relate moments of your own life to the memories he’s singing about. i can’t wait to see this live.

the car - arctic monkeys

i wasn’t a huge fan of arctic monkeys’ last release, so i wasn’t too excited about the car but i decided to pre order the vinyl anyway just to go out on a whim! i think it’s definitely one of my favourite AM albums, and i kind of wish i’d bought tickets for their next tour since listening to it a few times.

doomsday - lizzy mcalphine

my third most played artist on my spotify wrapped behind harry and louis. i fell in love with give me a minute during lockdown, so i was excited to see what else she was releasing! it did take me a while after the album was released to actually listen to it, but every song i love. i have it as my ‘wfh concentration album’ and it’s very mellow and just perfect. her voice is incredible, and i wish she was touring more local to me i’d love to see her!

stick season - noah katan

very late to the game with this one but i fell in love with it from the get go! i feel very calm and chill when i’m listening to this album, and like i just need to listen to it when i’m sitting on a bench somewhere and looking at the world pass me by. it makes you think a lot about your own memories when listening, and i had goosebumps listening to a few! it kind of reminds me a bit of mumford and sons, and i love them a lot.

this is a 2020 album so i’m very very late to this one! i saw the performance he did of heartbreak anniversary at wireless festival this year and fell in love with it, so i immediately had to see what else he’d released. a lot of his songs have been good to listen to when i was writing (or trying to write) and the storytelling of his music kind of inspired a few stories of mine.

i haven’t listened to sabrina since 2018 when she released singular act one, so i was going into this with a four year break almost. i really really liked it! it feels like the kind of album you’d listen to when you were on a late night drive with your friends just blaring out the songs. that was the energy i got from it and you always ALWAYS need an album like that in your life.

for some reason, i’ve only listened to changes that harry wrote since 2020, but never the entire album that came along with it! i’m secretly a fan of country (not all country but a fair bit i like!) and this just felt like the right amount for me to enjoy! she reminds me a bit of old dolly parton (especially with the song diane) and i feel like my grandad would have really really loved her, and that is always a winner for me.
