It's a little two-part glimpse into Dad Jeff going away into the sky. And Scotty being not happy about it. Baby Virgil features briefly too. Jeff Tracy tells himself things that tide him over more difficult times (but are not necessarily true).

SEPARATION ANXIETY

It was unbearable. The little face of the boy in his arms was wrought with boundless grief. Bright blue eyes full of tears and fear.

"Daddy, no gooooo! No gooooo!"

Tiny hands were clutching the collar of his uniform. The boy's voice was choking on sobs and Jeff felt his heart being ripped out. He was due at the base for a pick up and relocation for training before the Moon mission. He was a breath away from calling in his resignation right then and there and never leaving his son ever again. He forced himself to exhale and hoisted the child higher, bringing their forheads together. That gave Jeff a chance to blink away tears of his own:

"It's okay, Scotty. It's okay. Daddy will be back soon. I have a very important job for you, Bluejay. Look after Mommy and Virgie, when I'm gone, okay? Can you do that for me?"

The child's sobs halted for a moment it took him to nod very earnestly. Jeff leaned in to kiss the boy's forehead and then kiss away the tears from the blotchy little face as best he could. He turned to his wife with an apologetic smile.

Lucy was hovering in the doorway all this time, ready to intervene. Dad's departure for the Moon was a matter of wide-eyed wonder and endless enthusiasm till it was actually time for Jeff to leave. Then it quickly dissolved into a Greek tragedy. Her own hands were full with the baby. Little Virgie didn't yet understand what was happening, but he developed an uncanny ability to pick up his brother's moods. So to echo Scotty's desperate pleas, the baby's tears were now inconsolable.

Scotty settled to hug Dad's neck, so Jeff beaconed his wife with Virgie to step into the embrace. She leaned her head on his shoulder as he reached to kiss the baby.

"Are you really gonna be okay?"

She smiled up at him. So beautiful.

"We'll miss you like crazy, Flyboy. But we'll be alright. We're in good hands."

She lifted a hand to rub soothing circles on Scotty's back. The baby calmed down too and looked ready for a nap. Jeff gave himself extra minutes to just hold them all together. He didn't know yet he was already holding three sons in that embrace. Baby Johnny was to arrive while he was still thousands of miles away on the Moon. But in that moment he needed to capture the perfect memory of balance and fulfillment that would tide him over a long night in space. They were going to be alright.

It was unthinkable. The whole situation was his worst nightmare come true. The hijacked Zero-X was obviously speeding up and overheating. He ran a quick math and the fallout would quite easily cause an extinction of life on the planet. Unacceptable - his sons lived on that planet. His mother and friends. What made matters worse was giving in to Scott's big blue pleading eyes to let him come with him in One and watch the T-drive launch. Little Allie definitely learned to step up his puppy eyes game from the best. So Jeff was now stuck with the impossible variables of his son in the blast zone and One's still untested autopilot.

"Scott, I need you to take over the controls for me!"

He was halfway out of the pilot seat, leaving One on hover. Bright blue eyes, flooded with horror, shot up at him from where Scott was adjusting the harness by the cargo doors (oh, goodness, the boy was actually prepping to board Zero-X himself!)

"Dad! You can't go down alone!"

There it was. Daddy, no gooo! Jeff had to brace himself to enter full Commander mode.

"I need you to follow Zero-X flight path, align in formation. Once I board the hull, you will bank and scout the possible fallout zone perimeter in a thousand miles radius. I need you to shoo, tow or scare away anything that will be flying or floating there, understood?"

Jeff was sorely tempted to set the milage at a farther distance (as far and as fast away as possible, just fly away, Bluejay!), but he couldn't risk Scott questioning his intent in the moment. Blue eyes were still flooded with disbelief, pleading and barely concealed tears.

"Dad, please! Let me come with you! You'll need help!"

Daddy, no goooo!

"That's an order, Thunderbird!"

When he'd come to in the Zero-X wreck, in the middle of the galactic nowhere, and for endless years to come, he'd try and soothe himself with the knowledge Scott obeyed the order and got safely away from the blast. From that point on Jeff would try to convince himself he was not worried. Scotty knew what his job was. He'd look after his brothers and Grandma. They would be alright.

SaL anon here bestie and these last few days have been a ride, to say the least. I am not feeling very normal about anything going on myself, how are you?? We're not even on the same day as the episode and everything already feels unhinged. Masks?? Confessions?? BUDDIE HOLDING HANDS (in front of the tree)??!! I have never hoped so much (a mistake I know) that we are living in the best timeline and I suppose in less then 24 hours we'll see how insane it is to do that.

Anyway my "saving it for an episode emergency" wine is toast after today (todo list: replace that before tomorrow's episode) and thought I'd share my dumb spec for this episode. So not dumb is BT bones are obviously happening (like seriously, windex couldn't make it any clearer at this point) and I do think the Eddie-takes-care-of-Buck while treeman-cowers-in-fear is going to play a role in that, but I can't help thinking of the choice to have the mummy in Eddie's old bachelor party clothes. Like its kinda weird to have that specific outfit back in "masks" of all episodes, but maybe its not so much for the symbolism but just to remind the audience that that was a whole thing. Because what if one of our boys, via meditation or mummy curse or whatever (I'm not picky) actually remembers what happened that night?? And it, er, it wasn't exactly strictly platonic?? So one of them has to confront exactly what that means and we end up with (at least one) third party confession. I'd like to see it. But either way I feel like for sure next episode will end with Buck at least realizing he's been putting on a mask with his current relationship, and its covering up who he really wants, and I for one can't wait to see it. Less than 24 hours my friend, let's hope they don't do anything else insane before then 🥂.

Good morning friend! I'm glad you sent this last night because with the banger d20 ep last night and the pettiness and excitement about tonight, I just KNOW I'm gonna be put in post limit jail SO early, so I'm getting this out now while I can!

What a month these last couple days have been! I am feeling unhinged and damn is it hard not to get my hopes up! 🤪

I am *desperately* hoping that we see a bachelor party flashback in the next couple episodes! I would be happy with either Buck or Eddie, but not Buck if he's still clinging on to Tree #3, because I don't want the guilt spiral or him breaking it off because he "did something wrong". He really does for once need to recognize (on screen for the audience to share with him) that he is not being treated well in a relationship and leave. (Justice for the BT 1.0 breakup we SHOULD have had in 5a but FOX sucks.)

And now we have a scene (that to be fair I haven't watched because I like going in if not blind, at least not having watched big chucks of the episode yet) that once again shows Eddie knowing and loving Buck to his weird, superstitious core, and his BF being the odd man out, once again putting others down as a way to get laughs at work, and not knowing who is married to Buck's dad, Bobby, months after saving her and her and being together with Buck all this time. No wonder Oliver has been so excited! That man is a menace and petty bench and I love him SO MUCH.

Thoughts on MK1

I'm going to try to go in chronological order, and I might miss something and make another post about it later but let's gooooo (obviously spoilers below).

I think the first half of the story is really good. Yes, it relies very heavily on tropes, but they serve the story well and work.

I love that Outworld is a matriarchal society and that Sindel is the ruling Empress, not the Emperor's consort. Not a huge fan that everything is also based on nepotism/everyone inheriting their position from their family. Apparently meritocracy does not exist in Outworld and I get the vibe that this is in fact by Liu Kang's design.

I don't like what a hypocrite Liu Kang is. He says everyone is 'free to choose peace' but literally all of the characters have had their lives manipulated in an attempt to force this 'peace'. But we're supposed to condemn anyone who doesn't like that. Yeah, honestly--Shang Tsung and Bi-Han are valid, I'll say it.

Which brings us to Bi-Han. Oh, Bi-Han. I really want to give him a cough drop, his throat must be so sore from gargling gravel all day (I say this lovingly). I actually don't hate Bi-Han's heel turn, I just think it needed more build up. It could've worked really well if we had spent more time with Bi-Han first. I'm probably going to make a longer post about this.

I do like the new Syzoth a lot… but he's a bit much. He's really on the edge of being a Wattpad OC with how tragic and pretty he is, his whole 'saddest boy in the world' thing. Immediately offering to just die made me cringe. But, you know, hopefully he'll have fun in Earthrealm with Ashrah and Kung Lao and chill out a bit.

Baraka's whole story slaps. It's easily the best part. It is tragic, but not overdone, it's over all really great. No complaints about that at all, I just wish there was more. But maybe we'll get a Baraka expansion where they do more about the Tarkat.

Ashrah is… not as good as she could be. I love her design, love her fighting style, love her story in general and LOVE that she's here. But uh… are we not gonna talk about how she thinks killing other demons to purify herself is fine? This feels like a bug when it should be a feature. I really want them to explore this, there's so much potential here. This will also be a longer post at some point.

Shang Tsung is that bitch. Love him. 11/10 SLAY FACTOR off the charts. NRS gave the people what they want. So glad he's our villain and not Kronika. God, that smirk. What a guy.

Megan's delivery is bad, but I don't think it's entirely her fault. People should've told her. And they shouldn't have given her a character that was so serious. She works very well with a sort of dry humor, they should've played to her strengths instead of… just letting that situation happen. Cut her some slack.

Why are Liu Kang/Kitana and Hanzo/Harumi being pushed as the 'tragic lovers separated in every timeline' when that's Bi-Han and Sareena??? Like. yeah. I'm biased. But Harumi was not even a character, and Liu Kang and Kitana were not tragically separated, they were together all the time??? They ruled the Netherrealm together??? I don't get it.

I really like how story mode acts as an origin story for some of the characters and you 'unlock' their powers. I also LOVE how they used it to tease new cosmetics.

Love it when they said the thing. "mortal kombat", "deadly alliance", "armageddon" yes yes yes.

Also loved when Johnny made call backs to the OG timelines, ie "the flesh pits". Johnny really is perfect for that.

Johnny and Kung Lao are perfect.

Kuai Liang and Tomas are such daddy's boys and I hate it for them. This will probably be expanded on in the Bi-Han post but shut. the fuck. up. about. your. dad. I hope Kuai Liang never becomes grand master. I'm so sorry Kuai Liang fans, but this version of him is NOT it.

Smoke using his power to levitate up the wall was unintentionally hilarious. Especially since he didn't use it to break his fall. Bro???

Everyone in the game kinda easy to lie to/convince, but this might be a feature. Liu Kang sorta 'raised' everyone to be guileless and kneecapped the development of anyone who might be manipulative. I'll let it pass but honestly, I don't think Liu Kang needed to provide 'proof' of anything.

The entire royal family needs to apologize to Li Mei right fucking now, I am so serious. They continually did her dirty when she was nothing but loyal, and questioned her even when she was saying shit Kitana already knew (that the thing with Earthrealm was a misunderstanding). Apology, or Li Mei enters her villain era. Fuck y'all.

Basically, Li Mei, Shang Tsung, Bi-Han and Baraka get to do whatever they want as far as I'm concerned. Everyone else, I'm keeping an eye on. Oh wait, no. Kung Lao can have rights too, bc he's hilarious. Yall stop sleeping on him.

Anyway, that's my takes, I'm sure I'll have more thoughts. Overall, story mode was actually great, and I think there's a lot they can build on for DLC or even course correct, so I'm excited to see where that goes. I've finally caught the time to explain some for Reborn: Rainbow! So let's gooooo!!!!!! (Yayyyyy, I'm getting to talk about some of our original stuff!!!)

As explained by @flowerveil02 in an ask recently, Reborn: Rainbow is a special AU of Pokémon Reborn that combines elements of both the Zekrom/Black and Reshiram/White routes! (So obvious spoilers ahead!!! Those will be under the cut, though.)

First, let's introduce our protags!

25y/o, They/He/She/Zi

Ever ( @flowerveil02 's OC) acts as the main protag. They're incredibly valiant and competitive with a huge compassion for everyone. They hail from Tandor (Pokemon Uranium) along with the rest of the protags. While she's normally a logical thinker, she does think with her heart a lot. They're super friendly and mothering to all of their peers. Along with Sable and August, he busts his ass to protect the region and sometimes becomes absorbed in these responsibilities, also helping out a whole bunch with Reborn City. Above all, they're the best friend you could wish for!

Sable Morgan Umbra Cozmyx

23 y/o, She/Her

Sable (my OC) is Ever's sister by adoption. She's a reckless goofball often driven by her emotions. Casually, she's a go-with-the-flow kinda person with a huge sense of humor, but when she's started, she goes OFF. She deeply cares for those who can't defend themselves and often sees a younger version of herself reflected in them. She's the douchey bigger brother friend with dumb dog energy.

Below the cut is story-building, so spoilers for game lore!!! None of this is set in stone, and we're going to be updating the AU frequently.

This is gonna be really long, so buckle up and enjoy the ride!

Reborn: Rainbow is set in the in a different timeline than the main game. The timeline reset never occurs in this universe because our protag, Ever, survives the train bombing the first time. This means that differences caused directly or indirectly by the timeline reset aren't relevant or never occurred. So Anna/Fantasia never makes a wish on Jirachi, Fern doesn't join Team Meteor, Shade remains as Euphie, and Zina isn't sealed away in Byxbision with Giratina, among other changes. This also affects smaller things, like Miss Direction's reading!

Team Meteor has received quite the overhaul as well. The group has a coverup operation called the True Believers. This operation poses as a charitable religious organization in order to lure unsuspecting individuals into joining Team Meteor. It's how many of the younger members wound up joining, either that way or by proxy.

As I've said in an earlier post, the New World is interpreted as a mysterious dimension called the Idyll of Spiritism. It's responsible for a lot of the strange occurrences in the story, along with acting as an alternative reality that the protags and many more must explore to complete their journies. The Idyll can be accessed in Citae Astrae behind a door called the Quartz Door. Like the other sacred doors, it requires a key to open, being the Quartz Key. Instead of being four keys (Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, and Amethyst), there are five, the Quartz Key being the only key that Phoenix was able to keep through the years. While the Idyll can be temporarily accessed by opening the Quartz Door, its power is contained within, and opening it requires great sacrifices...

Instead of Radomus stealing the Crystal Keys, fashioning them into jewelry, and selling them, the Keys were lost in a very different way. August's mother, which we'll call Lucille after the Pokémon Uranium protag's mom, stole them. She grew up around Pheonix and witnessed Taube and his wife's deaths, so she understood the power of the Keys (she was born in Reborn, not Tandor. August's father, Kellyn, is Tandoran, however).

When August was young, she joined the True Believers while overseas and climbed through the ranks until she was trusted with the Crystal Keys. She then took all five keys to Citae Astrae and opened the Quartz Door. However, this requires sacrifice, so Lucille was spirited away into the Idyll of Spiritism, only leaving behind the Quartz key. Lucille and all four Crystal Keys were spat out of the Idyll and back into reality, leaving Lucille with severe amnesia and trapping a piece of her energy within the Idyll, cursing her. The Crystal Keys were scattered around the Reborn Region, where their eventual owners picked them up and had them fashioned into jewelry individually. Lucille returned to her family in Tandor and hid in fear of Phoenix finding her.

Ever, Sable, and August are some of the only people from the "regular" dimension that can visit the Idyll, although they must first be alseep/unconscious. This is due to a curse that was cast upon them by Solaris/Phoenix when they were young. This happened when Phoenix found out that Lucille's family had come to visit Reborn a couple of years after she stole the Crystal Keys. He wanted to punish Lucille for her betrayal and lured the young trio down into 7th Street and then the Subseven Sanctum, where he attempted to lock them up, resulting in a curse that gave Ever and her family supernatural abilities. The kids escaped, and their families swore never to come back to Reborn.

...That is until Ever decided to go back and find out what had happened all those years ago! Present day, Ever, August, and Sable have returned to Reborn to discover the truth behind what happened when they were young (and get dragged into some crazy predicaments while they're there)!

there really isn't anything else I could've given it. trigger absolutely killed it the whole way through and thank GOD someone convinced the shitflix execs to make this a weekly release instead of the shitty binge model which would've killed the show dead instantly.

but yeah, I haven't read the manga (yet) but I'd seen tons of spoilers before and even more during the show airing ( 😔 ) and it's an incredible adaptation. a lot of people complain about certain scenes not hitting as hard as in the manga for this reason or another but I feel like most (not all) of those complaints are just nitpicking and trying to give off a sense of superiority cause they read the manga beforehand

anyway, great animation the whole way through, like always above average and with a lot of sakuga sprinkled all throughout. we even got unorthodox animation like that one with the siblings or all the scenes made in the classic trigger style instead of this more "mainstream" look they used for the show everything else is stellar too, I loved the whole seiyuu cast and their performances and the music was great as well

also ryoko kui is an incredible author so it was just a treat to see all the thought that went into the world, dungeon and otherwise, tho I already knew that before the anime was even announced

anyway, TL;DR: incredible adaptation and what everyone should dream of getting for their series. can't WAIT for S2 coming TBA, surprised they announced it already cause they have a panel at AX next month so I figured they'd do it there

Youkai Buster Murakami Ch1

I went into this not expecting much since I read the author's previous work, shugomaru, which while not terrible was also nothing to write home about. I was pleasantly surprised by this tho, I actually liked it a lot more than shugomaru. I was doubtful at first cause "oh boy here comes another exorcist series" until I was told who the author was. as expected it's a comedy series like their previous work. the gimmick is that the main girl is an exorcist and it's her job to seal all these youkais that are being ressurected but she's a huge coward so she brings her, completely normal, friend along to help her and he defeats the youkai by poking holes into it's story like you can see in the pic below I can totally see this being a fun series that I wouldn't mind having stick around for a while if every chap is at least this good. even being a shorter debut of 30 pages it felt like it dragged a bit too long but it should be fine with normal lenght chaps. we'll see how it goes in the coming weeks

Dear Anemone Ch17 (Finale)

man where do I even start with this. first of, I'd thought about giving it a 2 instead of a 1 cause the art is really good but this final chap was so bad it made me change my mind. that spread I picked below is a compilation of stuff that never actually happened in the manga. I guess it was stuff the author had planned but it got axed so yeah. from chap 1 I said the art was good but way too gory for wsj and that stayed true the whole way, it was just way too much for the magazine it was in. impressive that the author managed to keep up the quality in a weekly serialization tho. that's all this manga had tho, the art. everything else was terrible. the story was confused and moving all over the place and the bad ratings made it even worse with the author trying to rush and give reveals and twists constantly which never felt satisfying cause there was no build up to it. the characters didn't felt like characters either and they were just getting pulled along the plot. I went into this not expecting much and still came out disappointed. author is gonna have to put a LOT of effort into their writting if they want do to another serialization or at least they should team up with someone else since again the art was actually really good

Do you think Hannah still has any type of romantic feelings for our boy Jake?

- Uh, no, I don’t think so, after all, Hannah now has Thomas. And most importantly, if she finds out that Jake is her half-brother, it will probably be quite disturbing at first. She will probably feel very uncomfortable and I don’t think there will be room for any romantic feelings. And if so, it’s probably misguided feelings that don’t consist of love but gratitude that Jake saved her. This might cause confusion for Hannah, but I think in general, Hannah will have no romantic feelings for Jake.

Who is the best option to tell dear Hannah that Jake's her brother?

- I think the best people are Lilly and MC. Lilly and MC learned about it together. And Lilly is Hannah’s sister and also Jake’s sister.

So she knows exactly how Hannah feels, and MC because MC is a neutral and outsider who saved Hannah. I think this will automatically trigger an emotional bond between Hannah and MC and Hannah will probably immediately trust and understand MC.

Will the group ever get to forgive Richy? Would it be easier or harder if he didn't make it out of the mines?

- Forgiveness is a hard thing, I’ve done posts about it before.

In short, I think they’ll never be able to forgive him. I think maybe someday they will be able to talk to him again etc., but I don’t think they can forgive him. I think Hannah can forgive him, but Thomas can’t. And I also think that Jessy will still like him emotionally, even if she may never forgive him.

It depends for which side you mean it would be easier for Richy to die in the mine. In general, at least for me, it would be better and nicer if he survived and made it out of the mine. Even if Richy did something terrible, the group had a wonderful friendship with him for several years. And no one wants him dead, I don’t.

Do you think the people who wrote MC bad things because of Lilly's video will reach out to them again?

- Maybe someday, maybe to apologize, but that’s all, I think. At least I probably wouldn’t want to.

Will we get to interact with darkness and the forum again?

- In the game, no, most likely not, I doubt it, to be honest.

But maybe Everbyte will bring it back as a little fun detail, I personally would find it cool. And above all, I miss Darkness a bit. Darkness was a really cool character and the interaction with MC was incredibly funny, I’d like to have more of it.

And in the Duskwood universe, so our MC, I personally have the head canon that MC becomes an active member of the forum after Hannah is saved. :D

Does the #IAmJake will stop someday? If no one stops it people will keep uploading things?

- I think it will definitely stop at some point, I mean it’s a trend, both in real life and in the game. Duskwood fans may still post about it in years, of course, but not like when episode 6 was released. It’s already not like that anymore.

And in the universe of the game, of course, probably even then. It’s a trend, everyone wants to participate, but at some point it stops again, it always does.

Besides, the hope is that at some point Jake will be free again and no longer have to be afraid that his pursuers will find him. So it would be best if #IAmJake were no longer necessary at all.

- Well, of course there are some theories. And I myself am convinced of the theory; that the number of MC was never intended as a phone number, but was only the number that was on the receipt that Richy lost at Amy’s house.

I think Hannah wanted to ask Alan and Jake for help to find out who owns this receipt. They could have figured it out with that number to find the Man without a face. But because Hannah was already kidnapped, she had no time and stress and fear and therefore accidentally sent it to Thomas. He thought it was a cell phone number, but it’s not.

I also have the theory that the side story that Everbyte announced for the new game will be with the duskwood group. So I think that hopefully we will find out there whether the theory is correct or if not, what happened then.

The Beginning Of The End

A/N: got bored, wrote a thing for my swap AU, enjoy! TW aside, I'm really happy to have written this, first actual swap story, let's gooooo! (Chase is in place of Jackie, Jameson is in place of Marvin!)

TW: Major Character Death, Gore. Not for the faint of heart tbh!

"Oh, shit!" Chase screamed, a fit of giggles hitting him a moment after. Jameson smiled, setting the icy path of magic out in front of them further and watching Chase slide along. "Fuck, more, more, go!"

Jameson extended the path even more, sliding behind Chase, his mentor; because as magically powerless as Chase was, he made a good teacher, and a greater hero. The city depended on him, and damn was he proud of what he'd done since he'd come to charge.

Crime had all but disappeared meaning he and his protégé could goof around without worry for the most part on most days. The weekends, however, weren't so kind.

Luckily this was a Thursday.

They continued on, and finally came to a stop near one of the popular teen hangout spots. After-school goers waved them down from their playtime smiling and asking for pictures and they were more than happy to oblige.

Jameson laughed as some teens doted on him, telling him how short they'd expected him to be—definitely not near 6 feet—and comparing him to Chase, while Chase was given praise and gifts—things Jameson could only imagine they kept on them at all times in wait for the day they finally got to meet the hero.

"It's your lucky day!" Chase shouted boldly, his American accent standing out among the brits. Jameson left the teens he was talking to and headed to his mentor's side. Chase gripped his shoulder tightly. "Hell yeah we'll show you what we're capable of!" Then he turned to one of the teens that was filming the exchange, a worried expression crossing his face. "Don't tell your parents I swear, please."

The teens only laughed in response as Chase smiled again, as though that had never happened.

Jameson stepped aside, using his magic to begin lifting Chase and himself high in the air above the teens. He put himself slightly higher than Chase so he could observe everything below them.

For a few minutes it was fine, Chase doing his normal hero tricks whilst airborne, Jameson materialising a skateboard for his friend to use, before Jameson noticed something was off within the crowd of teens taking photos and videos.

A pale man, clad in all black from head to toe including gloves and a beanie. Jameson could see his face, but he was turning this way and that as he walked, as if trying not to be spotted. He looked up, his eyes landing on Jameson, then lower, to Chase. His eyes took on a calculating nature as he hid himself in the crowd a bit more until Jameson lost him.

Worried about this, Jameson began trying to move Chase away from open air, but Chase resisted the magic yanking at him, not even fazed when the pull got stronger.

It was a split second before Chase was suddenly falling out of the air, a dark spot emerging and expanding on the chest of his jacket, his eyes a pale blue as he caught Jameson's gaze way in the air. Jameson couldn't snap himself out of it in time to catch Chase before he hit the ground, a resounding /crack/ as his body landed in the middle of the terrified teens.

Blood erupted from his landing spot, and Jameson quickly got down to him. He could hear blaming voices from some of the teens that were further back, yelling at him that he had dropped Chase, while others who were closer to him were stood in shock at the gigantic bullet hole sitting in the middle of Chase's chest.

Jameson was quiet. He was always quiet, but now he was completely silent. He didn't know what to do or say to make any of this better. He'd seen the man. He knew exactly who he was, too, but he hadn't made enough of an effort to get Chase out of there before disaster struck. What if it had been bigger? A bomb, maybe? Or worse.

Worse? What could be worse than Chase lying dead in front of him?

"Jameson, come on." he heard his friend talking to him, and hands grabbing at his shoulders to pull him away from the scene.

It was night now and all the teens had gone home with the image of their fallen hero burned into their minds, probably forever. And a nasty image it was.

"Staying here won't do you any good. Come back to my place." Jackie urged gently. His support dog nudged him to alert of a high heart rate, but he was already well-aware. "Come on."

"I... can't," Jameson whispered, British accent nearly gone with the volume.

"Come on," Jackie urged again. This time when his dog nudged him, he let go of Jameson and leaned down to pet her and let her know he was listening to her, handing her a treat from the bag on his hip. "Good girl."

Jameson finally tore his eyes away from the spot in front of him. They had cleaned the blood the best they could after removing the body, but any residual blood was there permanently. Blood stains, after all. He looked down at his friend and his dog.

Cocoa sat next to Jackie, staring between him and Jameson. Jackie looked back up, then stood, rubbing his friend's shoulders. "Come on. It'll be okay." Jameson taking one last look at the scene made Jackie have to forcefully pull him away to look at anything else. "Let's go home."
