High Commander Karia Bio (+ my version of Kreeyan lore)
The Kreeyan race was created in the realm of Fabir by Kreeya, the protector goddess of said realm, who had been granted the ability to create life in her realm, and thus help build a prosperous society. Nonetheless, she had her own plans.
Just like the once protector god of Outworld, Shao Kahn, Kreeya wasn’t satisfied with her position as an agent of the Elder Gods. She didn’t like dedicating her divine power to the protection of mortals, she saw herself above them and only considered them worth being pawns in her path to glory, her path to become the most powerful being in all realms. That ambition led her to prepare the Kreeyans, her own daughters, to treat her like their superior, their queen, since they were created, and to start taking over other realms in her name. Karia was among them, and since she proved herself a talented warrior and leader, she had a high position in the Kreeyan army.
Queen Kreeya waited for the right moment to initiate her attack. After Shao Kahn’s failed first invasion of Edenia, she tried to take advantage of the weakened state of Outworld’s army to take over that realm and with that eliminate one of the greatest obstacles for her objectives. This betrayal to her position made the Elder Gods take her divine powers away, just like they did with Shao Kahn when he joined Onaga, but Queen Kreeya was prepared for something like that. She had developed a powerful magic capable of replicating her powers to create life to keep (even if more slowly) expanding her army.
Queen Kreeya’s plan completely backfired, nonetheless. Shao Kahn’s warriors were able to defeat the Kreeyans in ten consecutive Mortal Kombat tournaments, which not only prevented the Kreeyan army from invading Outworld but also set them as the next realm Outworld’s army would invade.
The desperation made Queen Kreeya reveal her true colors. She constantly threatened her own daughters, and forced them to keep fighting despite their fight being already a lost cause, which caused countless unnecessary deaths among them. This made many among them, such as her oldest daughter, Vorpax, and Karia, to grow resentful of their mother for the pain she was causing to their sisters. Karia in particular ended up taking the first possible chance to turn against her.
When Karia’s troops were about to meet in battle with those of the young General Reiko, she offered her surrender and alliance in exchange of freeing their sisters from Queen Kreeya. Seeing Karia’s potential as an ally and a golden opportunity, Reiko accepted. This was one of the events which allowed Reiko to have one of his greatest achievements, managing to invade Queen Kreeya’s castle, slaying the wanna-be conqueror and effectively finishing Outworld’s conquest of Fabir.
After that, while Vorpax became the new queen of the Kreeyans and accepted to serve Outworld’s Empire to protect her sisters, Karia served the Kahn Guard, immediately being given a high position by Reiko due to her assistance in defeating Kreeya. Although initially motivated only by benefiting her sisters through her service, Reiko eventually earned her respect and genuine loyalty due to his abilities and the good treatment of his soldiers. She came to believe that the Kahn Guard under his command could be what Kreeya wished to be in her egomaniac dreams, someone who would unite all realms under a powerful glorious Empire, what Karia had been prepared to create and wished to fulfill.
Karia has been serving under Reiko for more time than most, and her achievements in the battlefield have earned her the position of High Commander among his troops, which makes her an authority just below that of Reiko himself. She will be one of the greatest enemies for anyone who opposes the Kahn Guard.

Random MK worldbuilding headcanons
Souls always take the form of the body they are in (does not apply to objects) but soul damage will change the body over time.
The Takahashi’s psychic powers are genetic, but the gene became dormant after Sento left the clan’s hands.
The Kytinn (D’vorah’s race) and Kreeyans (Vorpax’s race) are from the same realm.
Shao Kahn and Onaga are the same race but different types.
The wraith is an experimental resurrection method. Bi Han was the first successful subject.
Seidans and Khaons (chaosrealmers in my au) mainly use rune magic.
Tarkatans are venomous.
Realms are divided by rifts. Rifts usually occur in hard to reach places (open water, mountains, caves, deserts, etc.). And under specific conditions (full moons, certain weather, seasons, etc.). Some are open whenever but it is very rare.
Mirco realms are small realms usually in orbit of a larger realm.
Shang Tsung’s island is located in a micro realm with a rift off the coast of Zhu Zin.
Zhu Zin is a walled coastal city. It is commonly known as “The City Stuck in Time” because it started to isolated itself from the rest of China after the Ming dynasty. Ironically it was once one of China’s biggest trading hubs.

As I said earlier, I planned to share some gifs of (and poorly constructed thoughts on) what I believe to be Mortal Kombat's first canon queer couple: Kiri and Ankha from Mortal Kombat: Conquest.
For the tl;dr: Mortal Kombat: Conquest gave us a great lesbian ship even if I’m not sure that was their goal.
The above gifs are from the S01 E06"Noob Saibot". Below are from S01 E18 "In Kold Blood".
There are surely those who don't consider Conquest canon, and I can't entirely disagree. The game universe's lore has evolved (one might even say devolved) a lot since the late 90s. Plus, Conquest intentionally went its own way on several things. Although, I do believe MK1 gave a tiny nod to Conquest in one of Lao and Nitara's intros--the one that referenced "Jen".
Nonetheless, decades before Mileena and Tanya were confirmed to be a lesbian ship (only to be sidelined and diminished by Khaos Reigns and their variant forms T_T) Conquest gave us Kiri and Ankha.
Introduced in S01 E06 "Noob Saibot," which aired in late 1998, they are very obviously intimately involved with each other, to Taja's bisexual awakening imo. (See the included Kristanna Loken gifs)
Everyone is free to come to their own conclusions about what motivated the introduction of this ship. FWIW it's open, unashamed, and well-known, as several characters remark on Kiri and Ankha's relationship (and in a relatively organic way). For that reason, I want very much to call it groundbreaking.
I do recognize that the intent behind the ship may have been fetishization to cater to the predominately male target audience. However, I think Kiri and Ankha ended up being a great ship, anyway. Besides, Conquest sexualized everyone. That was surely not unique to them.
The PDA between them is off the charts. I mean, try to find a scene they're in where they aren't touching each other. (I can think of ONE.)
Other characters' comments on them very clearly reinforce that they are a couple, but no one is antagonistic toward them because of it. Oh, other characters are antagonistic toward them, but it doesn't seem rooted in their sexuality. Siro simply says Kiri is weird but it seems directed at her professionally, and he makes no mention of Ankha. Vorpax is exasperated with them but I think she's just annoyed by their noncommittal/unconcerned behavior with regards to their assignment.
And Taja just realized she's also into women because of them. :D
In any case, I think Kiri and Anhka hold a special and important place in MK and am sad to know Conquest is all but forgotten today. Don't get me wrong, I think the show is fondly remembered by its fans (of which I am one). Unfortunately, we're a small fan base.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Nitara Trailer
JEN? A JEN CONNECTED TO KUNG LAO? DID WE JUST GET A MORTAL KOMBAT CONQUEST REFERENCE AFTER ALL THESE YEARS???
OMG IF THAT WAS THE CASE, THANK YOU FOR FEEDING THIS STARVING CONQUEST FAN Netherrealm Studios ❤️❤️❤️
(And Nitara 😍)
Y’all have no idea how freaking over the moon that little name drop made me. Mortal Kombat Conquest is my absolute joy from back in the day, but it’s seldom know or acknowledged. Having something Conquest related reach the mainstream games just makes me so happy. 🤩🤩🤩
Any other Conquest characters getting dropped after Jen would be incredible. Taja. Siro. Omegis. By the Gods, Vorpax is SCREAMING for a come back.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m excited Nitara got dropped for MK1, but I’m just sitting here, in my happy corner, gushing over what could be the first Mortal Kombat Conquest crumb in FOREVER. The show’s been off air for decades, I’ve WANTED this. 😭
This is the hype I live for.

The story of Hikata according to the Inmortal Kombat Wiki
I use again the semi-reliable information of the Inmortal Kombat Wiki to give you the story of the best character in this series, the man who Liu Kang and Shao Kahn must fear, and my pfp, the great Hikata (click to see the wiki page I will translate).
For those unfortunate enough not to know about him, he is one of the few newcomers of this series. He had just one fight against Liu Kang, and, memes aside, he actually won that lol.
So, here you have my translation of the information the Inmortal Kombat wiki has of this goofy goober:
Hikata is a character who only appeared in Mortal Kombat: Federation of Martial Arts, defeating Liu Kang. He appears again fighting during Jax’s trial by the Council of Elder Gods. He is played by an unknown actor.
Author’s note 1: We have a name for Hikata’s actor in the website linked in Jimmy’s page: Gary Ray Stearns.
According to the known story, Hikata was once a Shaolin Monk who rebelled against his fellow, believing himself to be the true chosen one. Since then he has lived in exile in Outworld and the nature of his powers is unknown, although it is rumored he can create weapons with his thoughts.
Author’s note 2: Hikata’s bio confirms everything related to him being an exiled monk, living in Outworld and creating weapons with thoughts (rock and roll way of saying he can create energy constructs, I understand).
Author’s note 3: The term 'Chosen One' was used across the series. The term was used in the 95 movie and this series is connected to it in some way, so it makes sense despite it not being used in the games until MK11 if I remember correctly. Here is an example of the series material using the term.
He had no important interventions, only accompanying Noob Saibot and Ermac, while Shang Tsung tried to control the Shadow Priests loyal to Ermac. However, Shang Tsung is about to reach Ermac to offer him an alliance, and if he refuses it would be his end, as well as Noob’s and Hikata’s.
Eventually, the Shadow Priests found the place in which Hikata, Ermac and Noob were hidden in Outworld, and in this place the three fought Shang Tsung, Scorpion and Vorpax. Upon noticing the enemy’s superiority, Hikata and Noob kneel and swear loyalty to Shang Tsung.
Author’s note 4: There are references to this story in MK: FOMA actual material, so its veracity seems almost sure.

Mk:Conquest au
Basically I'm in the place of vorpax. Because she honestly never really needed shang in the grand scheme of things. So i felt it was unnecessary. And retconned his backstory a bit more to go along with my hc backstory. But for the most part, shit stays the same.
But have some bearded conquest shang and me.

I am rewatching Mortal Kombat Conquest and Shang Tsung’s epic 90s leather jacket lmfao.
Was that how he rewarded himself for escaping the cobalt mines and also getting away from Vorpax after her true arc was revealed?
I mean, respect. It’s just funny.
