The other palaces in the Crimea
The Palace of Koreiz was owned by the Yousupov Family, and the inside photos show an exquisite place. It is worth taking the time to check them out.
The Palace of Kichkine was built by Grand Duke Dmitry Konstantinovich as a place he could enjoy with his nephews.
Dulber means "beautiful" or "heart stealing" in Tartar. This palace was built by Grand Duke Pyotr Nikolaievich. Design and construction were based on his sketches. The Grand Duke had great knowledge of Middle Eastern Architecture and history. The palace has more than 100 rooms.
The Vorontzov Palace (built by Prince Mikhail Vorontzov) is one of the oldest palaces in the Crimea. It has 150 rooms and is surrounded by gardens and parks. Vorontsov's palace started a tradition of imperial residency in the area. Many Russian elite were attracted to build villas and palaces in the Crimea.
Massandra: This palace was initially being built for the Vorontzovs, but a death in the family caused the project to halt. Alexander III bought the palace and had it redesigned. The family never stayed in the palace, preferring their other palace at Livadia (the old Livadia palace, not the beautiful white heaven we all know and love.
The Golytzin Palace: This palace can only be seen on the outside. It has a long and turbulent story. The Golytzin who built it only lived in it for one year.
Harax: Grand Duke George Mikhailovich's wife, Grand Duchess Marie Georgievna, wanted an English country house in the middle of the Middle East. Everybody thought it could not be done but it was. George and Marie spent the best years of their very troubled marriage living at Harax.
Bagçesaray Palace of the Crimean Khans is a compact architectural ensemble consisting of 17 buildings and 9 inner closed courtyards. I have included a photo here because it is a source of much controversy. The palace is said to be magically beautiful and, in 2013, was listed by UNESCO as a potential addition to its World Heritage List. It was the administrative capital of the Crimean Khanate from 1532 to 1783. Apparently, the renovations have been botched. The issues regarding this historic treasure will have to be picked up again once the region has restored peace. Right now, they are not the priority.
The nobility in the Crimea
By the end of the Russian Empire, Crimea had become the most coveted "vacation spot" for the Russian elites. Palaces continued to sprout up. The sun, sea, mountains, flowers...and nobility had each other. Summers in Crimea became almost like an informal season, with teas, picnics, the occasional balls, dinners, etc. And protocol was eased. The Tsar was a frequent visitor to Harax and Dulber (at one point.) He enjoyed sitting outside and smoking. When he was there, the cossacks were there for musical entertainment.

And my next post in support of Ukraine.
Next site, the Church of the Transfiguration (in Ukrainian Spaso-Preobrazhenska) in the village of Moshny in Cherkasy Oblast. It was built in 1830-1839. It was originally part of a palace and park complex of Count Mikhail Vorontsov, a "russian" nobleman and field-marshal who served in the Napoleonic wars and in the Caucasian War. The church is the only part of the complex that is still preserved. The architect, Giorgio Torricelli from Italy, created an exact duplicate of the church in France near Paris.

After the Helix Pyramid and Roman Felyk: The luxurious Bentley of the famous Ternopil businessman Artur Karpyuk was spotted in Monaco
The leaders of the Ternopil financial pyramid "Helix" feel great in Monaco.
Among the parked cars on Monte Carlo Square in Monaco, "TSN" investigators found a luxurious Bentley Continental belonging to Ternopil resident Artur Karpyuk.
Such a used car costs 200 thousand dollars. Registration – Kyiv region.
Journalists spotted this car near the most expensive hotel in Monaco.
“We saw this car twice – in the evening and in the morning in the same place. There is no front license plate, but there is one at the back. Journalists found out that the car is registered to Artur Karpyuk – he is 39 years old and he is a managing co-owner of a publishing and printing group of companies (in Ternopil he owns "Zaza Print" LLC. – ed.), as well as a co-founder of a charitable foundation.
In 2015, he ran for the Ternopil City Council, but lost the election"
On social media, Artur mostly publishes messages about helping the army.
Journalists called Karpyuk to find out if he had been in Monaco. He says – his godmother drives the car, but he is at home – in Ternopil, and is ready to prove it via video call.
“I am in Ternopil, unfortunately, de facto the car is not mine, de jure – it is. Due to military difficulties, it is difficult to re-register it. My godmother is currently driving this car. My godmother leads a richer life than I can afford, they have a business abroad. This car has been abroad since the summer of 2021, I personally drove it there,” says Artur Karpyuk.
Because of this car, he had a conversation with the SBI two years ago, which, following an investigation by "Ukrainian Pravda" entitled "Monaco Battalion," was checking all the figures.
“In 2022, I was a little pleasantly and unpleasantly surprised to find myself on the list of the ‘Monaco Battalion’,” he says.
In principle, Artur Karpyuk did not lie. But he did not tell the whole truth.
The husband of his godmother (Iryna Novomlynska), who drives the Bentley, is none other than one of the scandalously famous directors of the financial pyramid "Helix," which defrauded participants of millions of hryvnias (as of early 2017, the damage caused by this criminal group amounted to more than 40 million hryvnias), Roman Felyk.
Of course, directors Roman Felyk, Dmytro Nahuta, Bohdan Vorontsov, and others involved in the "Helix" scams, about eight years ago when the investigation and trials were "in the news," are not behind bars.
According to journalists, several years ago Roman Felyk and Co. initiated and launched a new financial scheme. Therefore, Artur Karpyuk, who remained in Ternopil from this company, could still tell a lot.

🏰 Vorontsov Palace - One of the most popular places in Crimea among tourists, along with Massandra, Livadia Palace and Swallow's Nest.
📍 The Vorontsov Palace is located in Alupka, 15 km from Yalta.
⚒ The palace was built of diabase (a volcanic rock with properties stronger than granite) in the English Gothic style.
60,000 servants and soldiers worked on its construction for 20 years (from 1828 to 1848).
9 million silver rubles were spent.
🏯 In 1921 the palace became a museum, but during the Great Patriotic War it was looted.
The amount of damage was estimated at 5 million rubles.
In 1956, a museum was reopened in the castle, and since 1990 the Alupka Palace and the Park Museum-Reserve have been located here.
🌳 The palace is surrounded by a centuries-old park, which contains 200 species of trees and exotic plants.

🖼 The Mystery of the Portrait
📝Portrait of an Elderly Man, with a stern face and a crooked nose, a typical representative of the aristocracy. His armor is decorated with embossing and gilding, and his left palm rests on the muzzle of the cannon. This attribute, as well as the details of the bas-relief with a battle scene behind the back of this aristocrat, indicate the portrayed as a military leader.
The authenticity of the portrait is still controversial. In the inventory of pictures of the Vorontsov Palace in Odessa, Ukraine (1855), over the crossed out phrase "Portrait of Philip IV, King of Spain" is inscribed in pencil: "Connetable de Montmorency".
In the early 20th century, the painting was exhibited in the Alupka Palace Museum as a portrait of King Henry II of France.
According to the expert of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, this is an image of D'Este, Duke of Ferrara, a copy from Titian. Or from the court painter Dosso Dossi (ca. 1490-1542).
In 1983, experts from the London National Gallery determined that the author of the portrait was an unknown master of the Anglo-French school of the mid-16th century. And in 1982, a researcher at the Alupka Palace Museum discerned in the image on the armor an order sign on a chain - the Order of St. Michael, the first knightly order of France, established in 1469 by King Louis XI.
Most likely, the portrait depicts the constable of France Anne de Montmorency (1492/93 - 1567) - an associate of the kings Francis I and Henry II, a participant in the wars with the Habsburgs and Huguenots. With such a description, a reproduction of the portrait was published in the album “Alupka. Palace and Park "A.A. Galichenko and A.P. Tsarina (Mystetstvo, 1992).
