Steve Coleman - PolyTropos / Of Many Turns - new (double) album of two shows in France; a quartet for this outing, the simultaneous kinetic energy of all the players is a marvel
PolyTropos / Of Many Turns is the highly-anticipated new release from influential saxophonist / composer Steve Coleman. Comprised of two live sets recorded during a tour in France, it features his band Five Elements, with long-running partners Jonathan Finlayson on trumpet and Sean Rickman on drums, with new addition Rich Brown on bass.) Recorded in concert in Paris and Voiron, the performances are raw, relying on spontaneous conversions of rhythmic and tonal shapes that weave musical figures into continuous movements. A highly visual composer and improvisor, Coleman has recently drawn inspiration from following the logical chains of amino acids, inventively imbuing them with musical information. Acting on their collective, mysterious whim, the band takes the audience through exhilarating pivots and swerves based on some secret, enigmatic internal logic. It is collective improvisation of the highest order. Steve Coleman – alto saxophone Jonathan Finlayson – trumpet Rich Brown – bass Sean Rickman- drums

Aypierre posted a picture with Quackity on twitter !!
TW: alcohol
Tumblr media
So fun fact cuz it's from my hometown but the bottle he's holding is Chartreuse!
It's one of the strongest french liqueur ! It's around 40% alcohol! And there's two type : yellow and green chartreuse.
Basically no one knows how it's made cuz there's so many different herbs and only the carthusian monks knows how to do it. It has a very unique taste and you can find it in chocolates or ice cream form. Some people mix coffee and chartreuse as a drink.
It's something we drink only a shot of around the end of huge meal as a way to digest. There's a museum explaining more in the city of Voiron.

Angélique Kidjo Enters A New Era With Sunlight To My Soul
youtube
Angélique Kidjo is back with the Diane Warren-penned "Sunlight To My Soul." Afrobeats producer Shizzi is also part of the collaboration, with his supply of traditional African rhythms and supporting vocals from the Soweto Gospel Choir. The video celebrates life with dancing, hugs, and plenty of smiles from Kidjo and her dancers. The international singing icon released her 15th studio album, Mother Nature, in 2021. She collaborated with young African artists on MH, including Burna Boy, Mr. Eazi, and Yemi Alade. In 2023, she celebrated a four-decade career by kicking off a 40th-anniversary concert tour. Earlier this year, she debuted her new African Symphony project with arranger Derrick Hodge at the Kennedy Center.  "Sunlight In My Soul" begins a new era for Kidjo, who hails from Benin.  Kidjo is starting her next international tour on July 14th, which is also her birthday. Except for one show with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Meshell Ndegeocello will accompany her on select dates.

St Jean de Maurienne to St Just d’Ardeche
An early start today for the drive ahead. First stop was the supermarket to stock up (particularly on the delicious pâté we’ve been eating while we’ve been in this region).
We were on the road a bit before 10:30am. I have to say I think we encountered more traffic today than we have on any of our other driving days, except for heading into Annecy.
We stopped in Voiron for coffee and cake and to tinker with the driving directions and then the next stop was a little bit after Valence where we decided upon our final destination for today.
We have left the high mountains behind us and we are in the Ardeche and today we were criss crossing the Rhône. We’ve seen heaps of cyclists on the Via Rhôna.
Our campground is just near the Gorges d’Ardeche on the Ardeche river. We’ve already had a dip, it is considerably warmer here and I doubt we’re going to get the cooler evenings we’ve become used to. Thankfully it is a very shady campground, though a bit noisy - crickets I think 🙄

'"Non-Geometric, Geometric Stuff' That's Tight" Joey Voiron
Plato used the discipline of geometry to make possibly erroneous assumptions about the nature of thought, reality, and typology. This idiot made a 98 in the high school geometry, but Platonism is too deep for me.
Geometry is not a lovely village ramble. There are basic presuppositions that are the platform, and you build a ladder and climb on top of that. I am a dumbass. Socrates was right. That's how geometry works.
Where it gets hairy is he seemed to say that these geometric figures are divorced from concrete reality and sensory experience. Socrates, you were a philosopher. The Pythagoreans were too. But I am pretty sure that the men who built the temples and the Parthenon don't think geometric shapes, lines, and angles were abstractions or types.
Maybe geometry is useful, uses sight, movement, and hearing to a lesser extent, and the construction workers, architects, and stone masons were better at understanding it than Socrates.
Plato said based on geometry, or rather Socrates did that knowledge was of the highest order, thought was second, confidence was third, and conjecture was final.
What shape is that, Socrates? Is that "the hermeneutical spiral"? Shout out to Osborne. I did not read your book. It was too long and hard.
Seriously, does knowledge lead to conjecture, or does conjecture lead to knowledge, and if they are a hierarchy, what's at the top? You said knowledge. You also said some assumptions are foundational, but that is not called "conjecture."
Socrates, your take on geometry is contradictory in this dumbass's eyes. I should have read The Hermeneutical Spiral so that your Non-Geometric, geometric stuff would make sense. It doesn't. At all.
In geometry we used rules, actual facts about lines, angles, shapes, and how they worked to make logical arguments. We collaborated--Mrs. Richardson did most of the work--to build a cool fractal out of construction paper. A geometric proof is a cool thing. Geometry is used to build cool things. The construction workers who built the Parthenon seemed to grasp this. Grant R. Osborne made biblical, geometric arguments about hermeneutics. Jesus called Himself a road and a rock. St. Paul said He was the cornerstone. Socrates seemed to think either that conjecture leads to knowledge or knowledge leads to conjecture. He is not clear which. Right now I have more respect for Ayn Rand than I do for this dork. You were great at talking and asking questions, but epistemology did not seem to be your strong point. It is not mine either.
Jesus is the Truth. He is the rock you build on. He is both the beginning and the end of the alphabet and the debate. The beginning is not conjecture, and neither is the end. So much for Platonism. Ayn Rand had sensory experience as the beginning of her epistemology. Wheaton College, Warren Yazoo Behavioral Health, and family were good at lying to this schizophrenic dork about that avenue of knowledge. Jesus said that He was the beginning, and He became visible and physical. Atheism rules. Christianity is even more excellent. Satanist gas lighters are deplorable. Truth matters.

« Assetate, kaïsite, a poué migi, vitia d’aigua. »
(Traduction : « Assieds-toi, tais-toi et mange, voilà de l’eau. »)
Tumblr media
Galium aparine L., appelé Gaillet gratteron ou encore « gratte langue », « herbe collante » - ou « grapoule »!
Tumblr media
Arctium Lappa ou grande bardane - alias « grosse grapoule »!

Angélique Kidjo & Davido Team Up For JOY
Tumblr media
Angélique Kidjo and Davido unite on Kidjo's latest single, "JOY." It is the second time that the singer and activist has collaborated with the Afrobeats star. They worked together on "NA MONEY" from Davido's 2023 album, Timeless, and they shared the stage earlier this year at his 02 Arena show in London. "JOY" is Kidjo's second collaboration this year. She previously released "Sunlight To My Soul," which had Diane Warren and the Soweto Gospel Choir on the single. "JOY" happened when Kidjo and Davido came together in New York City over the summer, and they sang in English and Yoruba on the song. There is more to come from Kidjo musically, and she is embarking on a world tour that starts September 4th in Germany.
