i needed to express a sentiment in the creative stylings of @dunmeshiminimumwage
Tumblr media
#eliot posts#dunme#delicious in dungeon#dungeon meshi#sorry to put toshiro in the roll of shitty job interviewer lmao#but he was the best fit for ''guy that wants me to read their mind''#laios being my internal monologue here#i was on my THIRD interview of the day i was Dying#tho since the prev two interviews i had were for similar positions and told me their salaries outright at least i could use that number#(though tbh my work persona is more of a kabru. my customer service voice is unparalleled)#(at my first job even my coworkers thought i was sooo cheerful til i got too comfy and casually made a joke abt wanting to asphyxiate on a#plastic shopping bag like a sea turtle. in front of my sweet elderly coworker. oops!)#(also this job was during quarantine and after weeks of working together i took my mask off in front of one coworker for the first time#and she called like half the department over from their registers to look at how pretty i was??? prettyboy powers unmatched ig)#(also my first interview today went SO well i charmed that interviewer so good despite my lack of qualifications)#(she even complimented my social skills and said i seemed like the type who could get along well and make good conversation with anyone!)#(which is important bc i was interviewing for an elder care position. also old people especially tend to think i am a Delightful Young Lad)#(unless i accidentally make a morbid joke around them ig lmaooo. or. well. some of them like those too. but not that one coworker lol)#(if only that skill transferred over to actually making friends irl. my autistic ass has so few close irl connections)#(i hope my exceedingly short list of character references does not prevent me from getting hired)#AND ALSO my first job asked the same wage question and i said twelve dollars#and they were like all our new employees start at 7.75#the union insists that we pay all new employees a whopping 50 cents above min wage. (we'd pay less if we could)#like dawg why did you ask that then??? if my answer did not matter at all???

See, it would be so much easier to fix my attention span if I could justify getting rid of YouTube shorts. I've figured out how to get them out of my recommended screen before, and it genuinely does help a lot.
But there are a handful of content creators, including a friend of mine, whose shorts I really want to see. Either I'm invested in the storyline, or I want to support my friend, etc.

The voice in my head for Delta is weird, my brain associates him with Natsu so much I imagine his voice like him.

So, the current 338 projection has the NDP falling to 6 seats, and I didn't think much given that like I do think the NDP has major problems, but I saw the BC projection of only one seat, and it's only showing as lean, and I'm getting suspicious. So I looked back and the last time the NDP got less than 10% of the vote (the current national projection) was the 2000 election, in that election the NDP got 8.51% of the popular vote and 13 seats, including 3 in B.C.
Now obviously a lot has changed since 2000, for example that was when there were two conservative parties before they were united. There's also a very different electoral map. But I think there's more than one seat in the lower mainland that are comfortably NDP with well-liked MPs.
I'm bringing this up because people are thinking about strategic voting, but the assumption is a vote for the Liberals is a vote to keep the tories out, this isn't always true, and the 338 projection for seats, from what I understand is only estimating based on the regional and national trends, they don't have specific polling by district. So for example, a district like Vancouver Kingsway, which has Don Davies, who is as far as I know well-liked, he won with significant margins in every election he's been re-elected in. 338 projects it as Liberal likely.
My guess is that people in tighter races are the ones changing most, and extrapolating that evenly accross B.C. or even the lower mainland is warping the view of these comfortable NDP seats.

all retail and food service employees should be allowed to have a gun behind the register that they can either shoot annoying customers with or point to their own head as a threat display

The first chapter will be posted Sunday, 13 August 2023.
Borne of our actual hatred of business development and networking events, @rmd-writes and I have created (Un)professional Services: 6 chapters and 60,000 words of corporate-Tarlos chaos, to be posted over 6 weeks.
This project was the result of many many hours of no one telling us "no", including each other, and the answer to everything being "yes, and then what if...":
There are hot people at networking events?
We make Owen the most chaotic he’s ever been?
Gwyn lives and roasts TK at every opportunity?
Carlos spirals like a zoodle?
TK has to endure seeing Carlos in a suit all the time?
A law firm makes corporate branded condoms?
Fire safety training is an ongoing and slightly unexplained theme?
Stay tuned to find out the answer to some of these and more.
A thousand forehead kisses and fruit baskets for @celeritas2997 for letting us derail the gc over this so many times and for beta reading!
Summary below just because we like to tease:
TK Strand has been an attorney long enough to know that networking events with accounting firms offer little more than terrible wine that he doesn’t drink, uninspiring small talk and a stack of identical-looking business cards.  Until he takes Nancy up on a bet and winds up having all of his preconceived ideas about business development being challenged by an accountant who is very far from boring. The Tarlos Professional Services AU.

honestly i was always a bit... bewildered by bioware's business model, because i always thought (not to be a backseat game dev) it would not be hard to release supplementary vn/point and click/even twine game types of things of side content in between major releases? and that would probably provide both a mild income stream, and not need much of a budget or staff at all. something like the failbetter games collaboration they did, but more narrative focused and maybe tied more closely to the games rather than "here's a random town in orlais"
and people always say "ohhh the characters and romances are only appreciated by a small percentage of the players!!" with the implication that it's like a minority of female/queer players into it, but i really don't think that's true. the Average Man Player was also foaming at the mouth after dao because romanced morrigan mysteriously left the warden, haha. they were INVESTED. and there's the word of mouth effect too which i think is underrated - for every one person who's yapping away nonstop about Blorbo From RPGs, they have a decent chance of winning over other people who don't care about Blorbo, but just quietly like the combat or whatever regardless
and i recently read some bg3 developers saying that when they were doing EA testing, a huge portion of the players would poll as "i'm not interested in romance, only care about combat/plot" but then... they'd all pick a romance and play through it regardless. so there is really a market for that type of narrative/character focused content imo, it's sad that bioware kept remaking the entire engine and gameplay each time instead of being able to build successfully on a formula and add little side content pieces as a bonus.
