I was rereading the book and noticed something I'd overlooked before--towards the end, Ponyboy reflects on Bob Sheldon and wonders what kind of person he was in his private life, ultimately deciding he wasn't too dissimilar from Soda—a handsome boy with a reckless grin who was scared stiff deep down. By the end, the book is dedicated to his loss as well as Johnny and Dally's.

interesting that pony compares bob and soda for sure, honestly makes u understand why cherry was so in love with him (and yk as a cherrycola shipper myself… 🧐 ik how to make this abt them)

but cherry does go on to say that she could have fallen for dally if she ever saw him again. so in return it’s weird to me that pony puts his brother up against this guy he knows to be a vicious soc with a sorry home life. pony so clearly could have said it reminds him of dally to keep up with what we know abt these characters, but who do i think i am lmfao
