SUMMARY ㅤㅤ. . .ㅤㅤRESURRECTION is a mixtape released by South Korean rapper LIZ, under VALENTINE RECORDS. The tape was released through streaming services on December 20th, 2024, and was not promoted nor were any official singles released. RESURRECTION marks the first solo music to be released by LIZ following the disbandment of her girl group BOUQUET in 2021, and her subsequent unsuccessful appearances on survival shows NEXTUP (2022) and DREAMQUEST (2024). Every track on RESURRECTION was written by LIZ, and her name dominates the production credits as well. The tracklist delves into a variety of genres and sounds, with LIZ herself calling the mixtape 'purposefully eclectic,' explaining that she wanted to explore 'a hundred different versions of myself. Some songs are written from my point of view, some from the point of view of the person people think I am, the person I was supposed to be in Bouquet, the person I'm scared of becoming. You burn away one, and another is born.'
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"TITLE TRACK" (KIND OF) ㅤㅤ. . .ㅤㅤ In spite of the lack of promotion behind RESURRECTION, a music video for the sixth track, MANTRA (feat. MiO), was uploaded to Valentine Records' official YouTube channel on December 25th. The inclusion of MiO on the song, and again in it's video, caused a frenzy online; the j-pop heavyweight hadn't been seen in two years, and her fans had already accepted the idea that she may never come back - and it's safe to say a LIZ mixtape was the last place they'd expect to be seeing her again. The structure of MANTRA presents it as a duet; the girls sing the chorus together and take a verse each. It wasn't hard for MiO's starved fans to latch onto MANTRA, helping LIZ's far humbler fandom to get the clip's views into the hundreds of millions. While LIZ fans celebrated this success, it begged the question of why MANTRA was never released as a real single.
The video depicts LIZ and MiO as fugitives, on the run in a futuristic city (per the traditional aesthetic of VALENTINE's new gen artists.) Through glimpses of their arrest warrants, we see that MiO is wanted for 'killer runs,' and shortly after, that LIZ is charged with 'armed bobbery.' The video does not try to take itself seriously, ending on a cliffhanger as the girl's getaway car flies over an ascending bridge, over the edge of which a waterfall of pursuing police cars fall.
Perhaps referencing MiO's penchant for decorative lowercase, the final frame of the video presents a message; 'ManY HAVE tRiED.'
TRACKLISTING ㅤㅤ. . .ㅤㅤRESURRECTION would receive mixed reviews; the biggest point of contention being the tone of the record; switching, sometimes abruptly, between moods. The silliness or vulgarity of certain tracks were also criticized. Ultimately, however, the mixtape was well received, considered a strong display of LIZ's talents, highlighting her rapping but also displaying her vocal ability, as well as production skills and lyricism. The featuring artists present on the record also drew interest to LIZ, all with substantially bigger fanbases than her own. LUKE, the most credited producer in VALENTINE history, with a hip-hop career of his own spanning from the early 00s, is notoriously hard to get on the other side of the recording booth these days, and J-pop superstar MiO hasn't shown her face in two years. Fans of theirs were desperate to hear their idols again, and they rallied enthusiastically to support LIZ in turn. Fans of TAROT, however, weren't so happy to hear JORDEN's explicit lyrics, and took their frustrations out on LIZ even though he'd reportedly written the verse himself.

Liz Truss’s bid to ban trans women from sports runs out of time after MPs discuss ferrets instead
Tumblr media
Left: former PM Liz Truss. Right: two domesticated ferrets (names unknown) Getty/Wikimedia Commons
Former UK prime minister Liz Truss’s recent attempt to ban transgender women from female spaces ran out of time and will now not be debated after MPs joined forces to “talk it out” for five hours, including discussing ferret name choices.
Truss, the UK’s shortest-serving prime minister, sponsored the bill – entitled the Health and Equality Acts (Amendment) Bill – saying it would define sex in law as biological and, in her view, end the “absurd and dangerous situation where biological males self-defining as females can access girls’ and women’s toilets and so on – as well as sports competitions”.
In recent months, Liz Truss has become increasingly vocal over trans issues and has aligned herself with hard-right groups and figures, even appearing at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in the US state of Maryland last month, where she claimed that “trans activists” had infiltrated the UK’s civil service.
One of Liz Truss’s allies, Secretary of State for Trade Kemi Badenoch, slammed the “filibuster”, saying that Labour MPs had used parliamentary time to discuss ferret name choices instead of “protecting children.”
Champion said: “I am interested that my right hon. Friend is keenly mentioning ferrets at every opportunity that she can get in this debate, so let me just put it on record that my brother had a ferret called Oscar.” Eagle replied: “My hon. Friend now has that on the record. I do not really know what else to say about that, except that I am sure that Oscar brought her brother great joy.”
Conservative MP for North Devon Selaine Saxby also joined in the Animal Welfare debate after she was asked by Ms Eagle whether she had ever owned a ferret, “and if so, what was that ferret’s name?”
Saxby replied: “That is an excellent intervention. I will come to ferrets, but unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of one at home myself.”
At one point, the Animal Welfare debate segued into a discussion of the soap opera Coronation Street, with Labour MP for Chester Samantha Dixon saying: “Is my hon. Friend aware of a recent Coronation Street storyline on precisely this issue? It involved the indomitable Evelyn, who is, of course, played by Maureen Lipman, and covered the issues around puppy farming. It was a strong, educational storyline.”
A bill aimed at ban conversion therapy failed to move through Parliament on Friday 1 March for the same reasons, after a debate on it ran out of time: with anti-conversion therapy ban MPs, including gender-critical Labour MP Rosie Duffield and several Conservative MPs, similarly accused of ‘filibustering’.
Were it not too early in the morning for it, I'd be HOWLING with laughter at this!
Here's a suggestion - instead of hounding trans people, do something about the number of children being groomed online!

Hello another latam fan here, I just wanted to ask, you addressed the last anon about them ignoring the third world country comment and not apologizing but do they know? has the fandom being very vocal about it on twitter or places they frequent? About the demand for shows too? I am only in dnp online spaces when they are active and I ask cause I was unaware people felt hurt by that comment up to today reading through your tumblr which was quite a shock to me cause I never even registered it as an insult, just like that Mexican fan anon you received, in my country its also a term that’s still used colloquially. And please forgive me if you gotten a lot of anons like me I tried to scroll as far as I could into your tumblr ( I been here for about an hour 😅 ) I am just now learning there’s a petition to ask them to come to latam ( and Asia and Africa I believe ) to be honest I saw they had not sold out in the US and I thought well there’s no way they sell even half a venue somewhere in latam unless everyone from Mexico down to Argentina travels there but that was only my opinion because in my country we have really big local YouTubers and no one I ask has seen Dan and Phil content 😅 I hope these questions from everyone aren’t weighting on you too much I am a latam fan that never felt a need to have a tour date or an apology and was unaware others did so I been out of the loop and I feel like I am late to all these conversations taking place but I hope I can be of service from now on to help all other latam fans feel welcome in this space. ( Also I am sorry for the length of my message! it’s difficult for me to be concise in English than in Spanish, but I am working on it! )
It’s alright anon :) I don’t mind. As for the question: has the fandom been very vocal about the third world comment on twitter? yes. Yes they have.
Mirian and others from twt have been very vocal about it from the start. She has recorded a sound clip when it happened and showed it to people when she’s addressing this issue. She and a bunch of other people have addressed this again when the fake apology video happened, saying they refusing to acknowledge and apologize for the real thing. All those instances were, of course, got shunned down by people. From what I’ve heard, every time someone tries to bring it up, they’ll be silent by other twitter users. Dnp surely must have seen this for a while now, they have yet to address it. They probably won’t if we were to not call them out again.
It’s completely valid for you not to feel offended by this, we all have a different experience after all. You don’t have to be mad about any of this to still enjoy this space. I’m just hoping to bring this to light for those who’s affected by it. Because it’s not fair to keep shutting people up when they’re hurt, and it’s not okay to not do anything about it now. I hope this doesn’t weight down on you much too :)
Auto-message: This ask’s purpose is to acknowledge dnp’s past/present exclusivity, not to cancel them! But to embrace mistakes that they’ve made so that 1. we won’t exclude people in need in this community, and 2. we can normalize bringing up exclusivity so that improvement can happen. Hopefully this will one day help dnp realize that this is a safe space for them to talk about their mistakes, so that this space can become safe for people of all kinds too <3
*If you don’t understand what is happening, scroll through my blog for context. And I’ll be taking time to answer my asks, so don’t think I’m ignoring youuu*

defending KATSEYE (long post bc wtf)
i feel like hating KATSEYE should be an immediate red flag just in general, but especially in k-pop spaces. that should be means for immediate expulsion from fandom spaces, okay? right off the bat, probably a kboo. you don’t have to like their stuff, but if you’re one of these people who despise them/participate in the online hate train, there is smth deeply demented happening and my tingling spidey senses scream fetishization.
there is not a single scandal between Manon, Megan, Lara, Sophia, Yoonchae or Daniela (that’s six whole people to slip up over the years, and they haven’t!). not only are their demeanors very sweet, OT6 is ridiculously talented and dedicated to their craft. they’ve all been dancing like pros since childhood. they’re all gorgeous in their own lovely, unique ways. not a single bad singer or dancer. charisma 9,000. the only argument i’ve heard against KATSEYE is essentially that they aren’t all East Asian, which is gross for so many reasons.
1) they aren’t k-pop, j-pop, mandopop, or cantopop. they’re a global English-speaking group that uses the methods made by the k-pop industry. neither the girls nor HYBE Labels x Geffen Records have claimed the KATSEYE project as anything other than that.
2) we saw the same reaction to VCHA. people freaking out mostly over KG and Savanna, although i doubt the people complaining even knew the girls’ names. the moment an artist doesn’t fit their “uwu unnie/oppa” ideal, they get mad. as if the idols who do fit that standard are obligated to and as if that isn’t them outing themselves as kboos. every member of VCHA is qualified to be in VCHA and w recent accusations made against JYP-USA by former-member KG, they’ve clearly endured a lot of abuse to stay where they are… mind you, KG and many of the remaining members are minors and they were still subject to literal torture. any harassment atp of idols (particularly minors) needs to be dealt w swiftly. we know the industry won’t protect them, so we’ve gotta do smth.
3) these weirdos will hate on a group regardless of if they sing in Korean, like BLACKSWAN, who still are largely ignored and purposely overlooked despite their immense talent and great chemistry. all they see is no Koreans and a Black leader. they’ll also whine regardless of if they have mostly East Asian members, like NCT, whose Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, and American-born Korean members are given far less hype from fans and less promotion from their own company. this is mostly directed at the Zennies who treat Nakamoto Yuta like he is invisible. Johnny is given the shittiest lines possible and he is treated like a joke bc of it. Yuta, who has been waiting for his own solo for several years, barely got any promo that wasn’t a consecutive effort on the part of Ai (his fandom). WayV, whose members are mostly Chinese and Taiwanese (Ten is Thai) are continuously neglected by SM in ways a Korean unit would never be.
4) they are weird to mixed idols. you have likely seen it before, they’ll ostracize them for not being a “superior full-blooded Korean,” w a special credence saved for half White idols bc apparently hating on Wasians fixes the racism a lot of White people have. (so smart! wow!) TXT’s Hueningkai, Pristin’s Kyla, NWNJ’s Dani, and SVT’s Vernon. what makes this worse is half-Korean people in South Korean (labeled ‘halfers’) are almost always bullied as children. we’ve seen how bad Korean bullying can get, and it doesn’t usually change once they’re adults. in Vernon’s case, he was born in Manhattan but he moved to S. Korea when he was 5. he is culturally Korean. he speaks Korean more confidently than English. he even dropped his American citizenship and will be enlisting in the S. Korean military. he could have easily dodged mandatory service if he remained an American citizen, but he dropped it. he is Korean. he’s also been the most vocal about how he was bullied for having a White American mom and had to drop out bc of the ostracism and loneliness. yet people still other him, dilute him to either the “weird meme guy” or “hot guy w no thoughts,” when he’s arguably the most philosophical and socially conscious member. they still call him a White boy, in FAN SPACES. Carats generally do not correct this behavior. i only ever see Dolly (his fandom) shutting it down and we’re always met w “it’s just a joke” as if it isn’t just eugenics in sheep’s clothing.
5) it. does. not. matter. it’s fine to have preferences. every human being has them. nobody is saying you can’t prefer Koreans. what’s weird is singling out a race/ethnicity as your only option, projecting a message that they’re superior, and putting them on a pedestal as if they aren’t just people like you and me. toxic positivity is real and fetishization is dangerous. it’s just racism in different wrapping paper. a group should be judged on their talent, charisma, chemistry, manners, and personality. their ethnicity/race/nationality should be embraced but don’t make it weird. listen to fans from their same countries when they point out creepy behavior. they know better than anyone.

I've heard a lot of people express frustration that they don't know how to help Harris and the Democrats win this election. They say that everyone they know either already supports Harris, or are Trump supporters who seem impossible to reason with because they don't agree on basic facts.
Here's the thing. You're not going to convince many people by talking to people who are already talking about politics. These people have entrenched views. Don't waste time talking to someone who is vocal about supporting Trump.
But there are A LOT of people out there who are quiet about politics, and don't follow politics much. They might be registered to vote but not always vote. They might be planning to vote, but not have a strong opinion and are just going along with the opinions of the people close to them.
These are the people you need to talk to. Talk to everyone. Ask random people you come into contact with. Reach out to people you haven't talked to in a while, especially people who live in swing states.
Share information with people that will speak to them. If someone is Puerto Rican, ask them if they heard about the insults made to Puerto Rico at Trump's rally in New York and how Trump and Vance didn't really apologize for them. If someone is concerned about the economy or stressed with finances, talk to them about how economists and reputable media like the Wall Street Journal agree that Trump's tariffs will hurt the economy and drive up prices. If talking to people with family in the military, talk about how Trump disrespects people in the military, and how he spoke ill of the two generals he himself appointed. Share John Kelly's remarks about Trump wanting his generals to be more like Hitler's, tell them how you trust Kelley because of his service record, and how that concerns you.
Trump is so unhinged that there is literally something he has already said or done to alienate just about every possible demographic. The only way that his movement is maintaining power is by keeping the people ill-informed. The information isn't reaching people, and Trump has gotten people to distrust even reputable media.
The people who read and trust reputable media have already accessed all this information, and we all already support Harris. We understand that Trump is a threat to our country and democracy and our world. And we understand this regardless of our political views, whether we're liberal, conservative, or anywhere in between.
We need to talk to the other people. We need to talk to those who aren't as engaged, and we need to be like: "Hey, did you hear about this? Did you hear about that?" Use that personal connection. Talk to people who know you to be a reasonable person.
If people are skeptical you can share with them how you check what is sound and what isn't. Show them the website Media Bias / Fact Check and use it to look up specific sites. Be like: "I don't believe everything I see online, but I trust this source." if they ask you how you can know something. Explain which sites you consider biased if they saw something that you think is fake news. Tell them why you don't trust a particular site.
Don't argue with people. If you share a thing, and get pushback, you can use understatement. Don't be like: "You're wrong!" and start arguing. Rather you can be like "I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss that." and then drop it and move on if the person keeps arguing. You have other people you can talk to, and you might have started the wheels churning in this person's brain.
If people generally agree with you, ask if they are voting and planning to vote for Harris. If you're able to help like by offering a ride to the polls if they need it, or to help watching someone's kid, or anything else that would help them vote, offer it. Ask if they are talking to other people, if they know if people around them are also voting for Harris that they could encourage. Tell them that you think this election really matters, because it does.
We can make a difference by talking to people. Don't believe the polls that say that there are few undecided voters left. The polls often report as few as 1% undecided voters. But here's the thing. In the past week alone, I've heard from Puerto Ricans who said they had been planning to vote for Trump, and then those comments came out, and they changed their minds. You might also convince someone who is not planning on voting to vote for Harris. Or you might convince someone who was planning on voting for Trump to not vote. One of my friends from high school who initially liked Trump and voted for him, has become frustrated with him and this election, recently said he is voting third-party. I've been talking to him about my frustration with Trump for quite some time, and he has agreed with some of what I've said.
Each and every change like this matters. There are a few days left before the election. We can still make a difference. Focus your energy where it matters most, which is talking to people who you know or interact with who respect you, and who are not talking a lot about politics.

The Lines We Won't Cross and How They Change
Let's rewind time a little bit, back to the year 2011. I had joined this little website called tumblr and had made an acquaintance whose confidence would begin to inspire me to branch out and try all kinds of things I never could have seen myself doing before that point in my life. I began recording and publishing vocal covers to YouTube, I started showing off my artwork publicly, and I even posted a single topless photo of myself online - all because I couldn't stop comparing myself to this random fucking girl. If she could do it, so could I...
But I was determined that I could do it better.
The "relationship" I built with this online stranger is a little odd, and probably would throw up several red flags for some people. I can't explain why I felt such a strong sense of rivalry between us, and I know she never felt the same, but there was just something about my interactions with this person that made me want to always do better than her, even to this day (even though I'm 100% sure she doesn't even remember who I am).
Creepy? Weird? Stalker-y? I dunno. Probably. Harmless? Absolutely. All I can say is she is the one who ultimately introduced me to the world of "Topless Tuesdays" and the alternative modelling site "SuicideGirls."
She had posted a set to SuicideGirls as a hopeful, and being in full rival mode at the time I had considered doing the same. Ultimately I decided against it however, as the fear of any member of my family every finding out gave me far too much anxiety to overcome (hold this thought). Not to mention I couldn't bring myself to believe I was "pretty enough" to succeed.
I often wonder what would have come of that if I had ever gone ahead with that hopeful photo-set submission.
But I digress.
Let's jump ahead in the timeline to around 2017/2018 (I can't quite remember when). I had a case of the retail woes, a certificate in photography, and a foolish idea to escape the Hellscape that is customer service once and for all. The internet had informed me that feet pics were in and there was mountains of cash just waiting for me, all I had to do was step on a twinkie or two.
Long story short (or short story shorter) I failed in this business venture pretty much immediately. It's harder than you think to market and sell pictures of your tootsies.
Now, let's spin back a bit to where I mentioned my fear of my family discovering my nudity online. This is a topic I will address a bit more in a future post, but I will let you know now that although my parents do try their best to steer more towards the life of liberal boomers, they are still very uncertain of LGBTQA+ topics and VERY against sex work. I have built a strong and close relationship with my mother, but if she ever discovered what I've begun doing for work I believe it would ruin all of what we have.
Early in 2023 I began weighing that fear of my family discovering me against the possibility of actually making a living wage by taking my shirt off for strangers online. After many discussions with my husband (who has been fully supportive since day one) and a long time of back and forth with my decision, I finally decided to give OnlyFans a try.
Originally I had no intentions of posting more than some topless photos. I used what I knew about photography, photo editing, and makeup to my advantage to create some high quality, if a little bit minimal, content. Upon seeing there was some interest, but being unable to hold the attention of anyone for long, I decided to step over that initial line I had drawn for myself and posted some full nudes. Immediately I started seeing a positive response and suddenly I had a little extra spending money.
At that time I said that this was as far as I was willing to go. Excuse my vulgarity here but I had no intentions of doing pussy pics or spreading my asshole. Tasteful nudes, and no farther.
I stuck to that line for about a year, until the inevitable "Fuck it" moment I previously posted about occurred in July of 2024. I stepped over the line again and started posting some more risque content at a premium rate. It was then that my OnlyFans really started to take off and I was seeing actual financial gain in response.
Once more I drew a new line for myself that I swore I would not cross. Absolutely no video content.
But then I couldn't stop considering making that video content. I would think about it so often that I actually began frequently dreaming about creating pornographic films.
So once again I turned to my partner and we discussed the pros and cons, and eventually I decided to dip a toe over the edge and get a sense of the temperature of the deep end.
Admittedly, that first masturbation video I made embarrassed the fuck out of me. I felt exposed, I felt ugly, and I felt very stupid. But then the response to it came.
"I love this."
"That was so hot."
"You're so gorgeous."
"More, please."
So I decided to try again, and again, and then suddenly I fucking LOVED making the videos. The sense of empowerment, the ego boost - It gives me this absolute sense of control. Something I have been missing in every single career I've ever had in my life.
It was about the third video that I realized "This is it. This is exactly what I want to keep doing with my life for the next several years."
But this is the point where I want to say this to anyone reading my blog who is considering this vocation as a future (or even current) option:
Set your rules early. Understand what you do and do not feel comfortable doing, and express that to your followers. You NEVER have to do anything that you are not comfortable with, even if it's what people are trying to push you to do. At the end of the day it is about your level of comfort, not their level of enjoyment. Set the line you will not cross and do not cross it unless YOU want to. You might have to work a little harder to build a community, but you can get there.
I still have multiple things I will not do, some of which I will likely never do, and others I might be open to one day exploring.
There is no timeline in existence where I will ever be comfortable sexting someone. I'm not even comfortable doing that with my own husband. It's just not for me.
I will not do the dom/sub stuff.
BDSM - Yeah, not happening.
Fetish content - It depends, I have no problem sitting on a cake and giving my husband a foot job, but most Fetish content is a nope from me.
Threesomes? Absolutely not.
Meetups? Hell to the fucking no. My husband is the only person I'm sleeping with and I'm firm on that, thank you.
In this industry you are the boss. What you say goes and your followers can either take what you're giving and appreciate what you do, or they can pack up and find someone else to pester with their more extreme requests.
Who you are and what your destiny is belongs to you and only you. Don't let anyone convince you to change if that's not what you want to do.
Never be afraid to say no.
---
As a side note before I close out this entry, I've opened up an Askfm account so you can ask me anything anonymously. It can be about me, about my journey, or even just general advice for starting work in this industry. I'm by no means an expert, but if I can offer some insight to help you out I would be honoured to do so!

This whole situation is really upsetting and I know many fans feel conflicted on whether or not they should still support taylor, so I'd like to offer some advice for those who want to continue listening to her music but are disgusted by her actions rn.
Continue to make your voice heard, tell her you hate this rat bastard of a man and disapprove of her actions and decisions. Don't just stay here on tumblr, go be loud on other platforms as well.
Couple this with holding back your monetary support. I'd love to think that tay loves us enough to stop dating and consequently promoting m*atty for our sake , but I highly doubt that's true. So we have to show her that her actions have consequences, which means we have to hit her where it hurts and where she will notice - namely streams and salles. If you have the option consider illegally downloading her music to your phone and computer and litening to it the old fashioned way, not through streaming services where she profits from our attention. If you already own her CDs and can't torrent things online, just listen to those. Also stop buying her merch untill further notice. I'm not going to tell you not to go to her concert, I know people have been waiting for years for the chance to see her live, and I'm still on the fence about going myself.
I know this will be hard for many of you but consider not buying speak now when it becomes available. I know many of us love this album and want the re-recordings to succeed but letting this one flop at least a little bit (even just enough to hit under the projected sales number) would be a good way of showing taylor that our love is not unconditional and that we are not here for her bullshit.
She needs to get her shi together and do right by her fans and as much as it hurts to say this, withdrawing our financial support is probably the only way to actually make her care enough to do so.
very valid take. i doubt withdrawing financial support will ever hurt her considering how astronomically huge she is rn but people who are mad should absolutely continue being vocal about it (if they want to). thank you for this thoughtful ask!

Boris 5/23 @Proxima, Warsaw
Last time I saw Boris live was in December 2019 and that was also the first Japanese band I had the chance too see since pandemic started. Needless to say – I was very excited about the gig. I didn’t plan on it, but for some reason I entered the venue first (I’ve never had a ticket number that would be A1 in Japan), and despite running to merch stand first, I still managed to secure a spot in first row, right in front of mic stand. Which is exactly where I wanted to be, knowing that for this tour Atsuo is not playing drums, but being strictly band’s frontman and doing vocals.
Merch wise – I was pretty upset when their staff told me that caps didn’t make it on time for the gig. I really wanted to buy one with Amplifier Worship Service, guess I will have to order it online from their EU store. But I got other items I really wanted – the tour t-shirt with the leopard (love love love the design), I got a patch for my battle vest, pins, stickers (because I also need my laptop to look sick with those) and then I decided to buy a polaroid with the whole band and their autographs; I recall this is pretty rare stuff to buy (price wasn’t that bad? It was 100 PLN per polaroid, I think that’s fair).
Tumblr media
Boris is known for bringing less known Japanese bands on tours with them, so support for this part of their European tour was 明日の叙景 (Asunojokei) – fairly new band playing post black metal. I’m not that much into this type of music, but their show was good; I was especially impressed with the vocalist and his general vibe. At the end of their set I snatched the setlist, so I can listen to the exact set later.
Pic from 明日の叙景; it was so easy to spot myself but of course they picked one where my eyes are closed. Oh well.
Tumblr media
When time came for Boris, I was so ready. In 2020 they released album NO and that was like my favourite record from that year, it’s so heavy and energetic, I was hoping they would go on tour with this stuff and guess what – it was happening! They played mostly songs from the mentioned NO but also from Heavy Rocks released in 2022 (on my birthday, to be exact! August 12th). I think that’s a perfect super heavy mix. Knowing what to expect, I was preparing myself mentally for their show, but jesus fucking christ – it was so much better than in my imagination.
First of all, being in front row, it wasn’t difficult to get Atsuo’s attention. Guess me willing to give the band my all, to headbang until my neck cracks, to scream their lyrics didn’t go unnoticed. With Atsuo stepping onto the podium in front of the barriers, I didn’t expect anything less than him taking my hand a couple of times; during another song he was having an emotional moment and he fucking cradled my face with his hand, that caught me so off guard but I mean – no complaints. For Fundamental Error I really did my best with singing along and Atsuo fucking held the mic to my lips during chorus. That was well. Also unexpected, but if he wants you to do shit, you just do it. Do I fall for this type of interactions with audience? Absolutely! At the end my efforts were rewarded – for the last song Muchio, the support drummer, left the stage and Atsuo finally sat behind drums. He used the gong behind him (as usual) and poured his heart out on drums when they played Farewell; and as the song and the show finished, he got both of his Pearl gong mallets and gave one to me and the second one to a woman next to me that really was competing for attention.
Tumblr media
Some other highlights from the set – I loved their black outfits, I was really fascinated with Wata’s heels, her shoes looked so cool. And while I love watching her absolutely kill it with her vintage Les Pauls, my eyes were drifting to Takeshi (when I was not looking at Atsuo, which was 90% of the time). The double neck bass/electric guitar just looks so fucking cool when he’s playing it and he has got some amazing moves. I was so so sooo happy I got to hear (and sing!) Kikinoue live, that was my dream ever since I heard this song for the first time. Nosferatou was also amazing live, I love how their slow drone tracks feel like being wrapped in a warm blanket of sound. I sure am glad I wore earplugs to the gig, I think I would have not survived in the first row if not that.
Below's the setlist. Encore was Farewell, as mentioned.
Tumblr media
After the show I did something that I’ve not done before – decided to wait outside the club for band to come out, because I really needed to talk to Atsuo. I have hinted it a few times already in my posts, but basically on the fanclub platform I’ve asked Morrie if he’d like to go on tour with Boris as their support, to which Morrie very enthustically said that he would love to and he is simply waiting for invitation. Knowing that I could get a chance to talk to Boris about it, how could I not at least try? Also – I’ve made a connection recently, befriending a guy that knows both Morrie and Atsuo privately; the guy and myself really get along and upon hearing that I’m going to Boris show in Warsaw, he decided to text Atsuo and let him know I’d be there.
The wait outside of venue was almost an hour and I almost gave up (not because it was cold; I was just tired after two shows), but then they came out! I nearly ran to them, not risking I miss a chance to speak to them. One good thing about me is that I’m stupid brave, which means that if I get a chance to talk to a musician, then no matter how anxious and silly I feel, I will fucking do it. So I just came over to Atsuo, being full on „hey, do you have a minute? Our mutual friend K-san was telling you about me, I think”. It was so worth to wait for an hour on the back of the club to see Atsuo’s face light up with „oh right! You’re Cherry, nice to meet you”. (DEAD ON THE SPOT!) I passed him the message from Morrie, he laughed about that enthusiasm. We chatted just for a minute or two more and when I was already bowing and wishing them a safe travels for the rest of the tour, Atsuo was like „don’t you want a picture? Come on!” and suddenly we were taking the group shot. That was not on my bingo card for the night. Did I crop the pic from my own instagram? Hell yes, I am a lazy goblin.
Tumblr media
It’s safe to say it was easily the best Boris show I’ve been to and I am just already impatiently waiting for them to come back for a show (but this time with Morrie! Come on…).

These tags are versatile and can be crafted for any context:
Radio stations: Creating station slogans or call signs.
Podcasts: Announcing episode names or guest speakers.

Going Global: A Comprehensive Guide to Launching Your Music Without a Label
In today’s rapidly evolving music industry, independent artists have unprecedented opportunities to connect with audiences worldwide. Long gone are the days when record labels and industry gatekeepers dictated who got the chance to be heard. With the right tools, dedication, and knowledge, you can Release your music on all streaming platforms without a label and carve out your own path in the global market. This guide will equip you with essential strategies for producing top-quality tracks, selecting reliable distribution services, and crafting marketing campaigns that help your music stand out. By following these steps, you’ll gain the freedom to maintain full control of your artistic vision while reaching listeners around the globe.
1. Understand the Power of Independent Distribution Before you can effectively share your work, it’s essential to understand why so many artists now choose to go independent. Major labels once held the reins in distribution, but the digital revolution has put affordable and accessible tools in the hands of musicians everywhere. These days, you have multiple platforms—like DistroKid, TuneCore, CD Baby, and others—that can help you Release your music on all streaming platforms without a label. These services handle uploading your tracks, registering your music data, and collecting royalties on your behalf. Some charge annual fees, while others may take a percentage from your streaming earnings. The crucial point is that, as an independent artist, you remain in control of your masters and retain your creative freedom.
By choosing digital distribution, you decide when and how to release your music, and you can revise your strategies and release schedules at any time. This sense of independence is especially valuable for artists who want to experiment with their sound or collaborate in ways that don’t align with the typical label model.
2. Produce High-Quality Recordings The foundation of any successful release is a polished, professional sound. With affordable home studio equipment, it’s easier than ever to record from the comfort of your own space. However, producing a high-quality track requires more than just decent gear; it demands a solid understanding of recording techniques, mixing, and mastering. If you’re new to audio production, consider investing time in online tutorials or hiring a professional to handle final touches.
Audio quality can make or break your potential on streaming platforms. Listeners often decide within seconds if they’ll continue playing your track. Crisp vocals, well-balanced instruments, and a cohesive mix are essential for holding their attention. High-quality sound also communicates professionalism, making it more likely for playlist curators and industry insiders to take your music seriously.
3. Craft a Memorable Visual Identity In an era dominated by visual media, you need more than great audio to stand out. Whether you’re designing cover art, producing music videos, or creating social media graphics, your visual identity should reflect your music’s style and message. Eye-catching cover art, in particular, can be the hook that compels someone to click “play” when they’re browsing a streaming platform.
When you Release your music on all streaming platforms without a label, your cover art is often the first representation of your brand. If you lack design skills, it’s worth hiring a professional or investing in user-friendly design tools. Pay close attention to color schemes, typography, and composition so that your art remains clear and impactful even in small thumbnails.
4. Protect Your Rights and Royalties Retaining your independence means you’re responsible for managing the legal and financial aspects of your music. Join a performing rights organization (PRO), like ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC in the United States, or PRS in the UK, to collect royalties from public performances and broadcasts. Additionally, if you collaborate with other creators, clearly define who owns songwriting and recording credits to avoid disputes down the line.
You should also explore neighboring rights organizations if you perform on someone else’s track or if other musicians perform on yours. These organizations ensure you receive compensation each time your performance is played publicly. Staying on top of these details guarantees you get paid every time your music streams globally, which is critical for sustaining a profitable music career without label support.
5. Build a Targeted Marketing Strategy Creating a robust online presence is vital for any independent artist looking to reach new fans. Start by identifying which social media platforms align with your audience demographics. Consistency is key—post updates, share snippets of upcoming tracks, and interact with followers regularly. Encourage fans to create user-generated content, such as sharing your music in their TikTok videos or Instagram reels.
Another powerful strategy involves leveraging playlists. When you Release your music on all streaming platforms without a label, playlist features can amplify your exposure significantly. Pitch your music to independent and editorial playlist curators on Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube Music. Personalized outreach, including a concise pitch and links to your best work, may lead to valuable placements.
Don’t forget about email marketing. Compile a mailing list of people who have shown genuine interest in your music and send them exclusive updates, show announcements, or behind-the-scenes looks at your process. Email remains one of the most direct and effective ways to maintain a strong connection with your most dedicated fans.
6. Collaborate and Network Strategically Collaborations offer a powerful means to expand your audience. Working with other musicians, producers, or influencers can introduce you to a new fan base and create buzz around your releases. Look for partners whose styles and fan demographics align with your own. Joint live sessions, co-created playlists, or guest features can open doors you might not access on your own.
Don’t underestimate the power of networking with industry professionals like bloggers, music journalists, and podcast hosts. Personalized emails or direct messages can go a long way. Ensure you have a press kit that includes quality images, a short bio, and links to your music. When you approach these contacts professionally, they’re more likely to give your songs the attention they deserve.
Conclusion Navigating the music industry without label backing is a challenge, but one that offers unmatched creative freedom and financial control. By focusing on quality production, cohesive branding, legal rights management, and thoughtful marketing, you can Release your music on all streaming platforms without a label and cultivate a global following on your own terms. Stay open to growth, invest time in learning new skills, and maintain genuine connections with fans and collaborators. The path of the independent artist may be demanding, but it’s a journey filled with exciting possibilities and the extraordinary reward of sharing your art with the world on your own conditions.
