"I've accidentally spilled my entire armory. Pick up each sword properly, and send it to storage. Now do it again a dozen times."

 "When I give the signal, Kazuha will walk away from you. Get your wooden sword out of storage and hit him before he's out of reach. You can only move one foot. Once you can do that, he'll start moving faster." 

Kazuha thought each ‘training activity’ was hilarious, which made Zielle suspect they weren’t classics at all. As he massaged the salve Albedo had silently provided via Xingqiu into her hands, Zielle finally asked him, “Is he just making these ridiculous games up?”

“Oh, probably,” said Kazuha cheerfully. “They seem to be working, though. You’re barely self-conscious now.”

Zielle had to admit the last part was true. What Dainsleif had her doing had not the remotest resemblance to the graceful drills she’d watched the others engage in before. And if what she was doing was intrinsically silly, then her own flaws weren’t ruining something beautiful.

“You’re getting faster, too,” Xingqiu pointed out. “It’s basic stuff but it looks like fun.”

Between being startled, horrified, annoyed, frustrated, bored and, yes, still sometimes embarrassed, Zielle privately agreed. Each exercise provided a concrete way for her to judge her own progress, which she enjoyed. She could even admire the way Dainsleif effortlessly forced her to work on the psychological part of things by making a grinning (and surprisingly tough) Kazuha be her target. It made for some serious exhaustion though, even with Albedo’s salve, and those naps were not optional.
