Just speed consumed all of addison lee very much enjoyed I am waiting with my popcorn for next chapter! I did have a wonder while reading, what is Wriothesley's scope of vision? Is it like this needs to be 3 inches in front of his face? Can he see faces clearly if he's close enough? Loving the fic, keep writing!
The short answer is:
No matter how close he gets, it's still gonna be unclear. It's not quite like myopia/short-sightedness where the blurriness can change with glasses/distance. His vision is more like looking through foggy glass. If something is pressed right up to the glass, you can see it more clearly, but it will still be foggy. Additionally, the guy has always been red/green colour-blind, so that doesn't change even after his war injuries, but because his vision is worse in general, he can barely tell colours apart lol. Unless it's bright blue.
LONG ANSWER UNDER THE CUT.
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA HEHEHHHEHEHHE WHUAGHAHA sorry. I like to infodump about my fics.
Not kidding when say this: I have a document that have notes on every single year in the 10 years between the Celestia war and current INGITAL events.
Unfortunately this was all planned before Sigewinne release, so I didn't have her canon birthday (AND I DON'T CARE ABOUT CANON ANY MORE I'm burying my head in the sand.) but it accounts for every year that Sigewinne grew up and some other random lore bits. "What does this have to do with my question?" you ask. Well, I have the 10-years progression notes specifically to keep their life events in order and Wriothesley's and Neuvillette's healing progress consistent KJNDSKJNSANSKJHASDJNJSNDKJNASJNDSAJNKSAKJ.
SO. Detailed answer is this:
At this point in INGITAL, if you stand 1-2 meters away from him and wave, he's gonna notice if he's looking at you, paying attention, and you're both indoors, or he's wearing sunnies. He's not gonna be able to recognise anything, though, he can just tell something is moving. He can sort of read regular text on a computer screen at about 2-3 inches (on a good day) using his better eye (left, so he always sorta lean that way when he's trying to look at something), but it's a struggle and he'd rather not do it. His right is worse.
There's also his field of vision. So like, his peripherals are pretty much gone, and he has some dark patches/blind spots. He's also light-sensitive, so everything's kinda painfully bright sometimes, but his vision is also bad in the dark, so he needs a happy medium, but that can shift from day to day.
Very rough idea of what Neuvillette might look like to him on a sunny day. Veeery rough idea. I'm not blind I just researched a lot.
And then, regardless of what he can actually physically see, if his eyes hurt or feel too sensitive to keep open, it's all moot anyway. And once again, usually that depends on the day.
When Sigewinne was born, he had functionally decent vision in one eye (had a corneal transplant on his right). Legally can't get his driving licence, but y'know, he still felt confident enough to drive (Neuvillette did not let him, though.) The transplanted eye deteriorates over Sigewinne's first few months, and so did his better eye. He got another surgery for his left eye (the better one) when Sigewinne was about one, and that lasted for a bit, but by the time she's two, he's pretty much considered legally blind. By the time she's four, he does most things on his own and his other issues are managed as well, which is why they decided to have a second kid, and they had Carole when Sigewinne was 5. But Neuvillette struggled a bit with that second pregnancy. I mean, his first wasn't exactly rose and rainbows, but he his mental health nose-dived with the second one for a while. It's because he's been so focused on keeping it together while Wriothesley recovers that he hasn't fully dealt with his own trauma until his second pregnancy. Because yeah, thinking your husband died while you're carrying your first baby was traumatic. They've both got PTSD. By the time Sedene comes about though, they're all good. Sedene's pregnancy was a breeze, there was just Covid lockdowns HAHAHAHA. And then, if I go through with another pregnancy at the end of INGITAL, well... That's for me to know and for you to ponder.
[By the way, Clorinde mentioned going over to their house for Wrio's birthday 8 years ago in Chapter 9, which is when Sigewinne was 3 and he was 28. His previous birthday (his 27th) was a disaster. Had a big fight with his husband. So that's another morsel of lore from the 10-years-of-plot document.]
There's a scene planned somewhere in all this, where Neuvillette shows him some of their photos on one of the days when his vision is better. Photos of eeeeveryone their kids and their friends and all. He printed them out and edited them to raise the contrast so Wriothesley can see it more easily. Wriothesley voice: Ajax is fucking ginger? [This is lore relevant. No spoilers though.]
#ingital#do not talk to me about my fics im not normal /j#....................................... PLEASE TALK TO ME ABOUT MY FICS#krill#ask#wriothesley#neuvilette#the amount of one-shots i can do from the 10 year document. scratching my head indeed. why am i like this#YES their claw machine adventures are also noted in there.#wriothesley considers himself lucky though. like genuinely. he's happy that his vision held out long enough for him to take care of neuv#in his last few weeks carrying sigewinne. And then he was able to handle things for the first month of her baby life while Neuv recovers#he even pushed back his PTSD to focus on sige. but yeah. Once things started to settle tho. everything went wrong JKLNSDKLJNAJSNJKNSD#because trauma has a habit of only unleashing when you're in a safe enough position to deal with it. yknow.#also why neuv's separation anxiety and his mental illness peaked during his pregnancy with Carole. bc he's safe he lets his walls down#wriothesley also struggled with like. bad agoraphobia. I think I mentioned him being unable to leave the house for a while#was rough#but everything is fine in the end! because life happens but it can still be a happy life#telling myself this every damn day man its how i survive HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. FUCK ME.#neuvillette

These days, there are many ways to get what you want but don’t have. Dimples? Wear cheek clamps. Freckles? Get them tattooed on your face. Different eye color? Just ask an ophthalmologist to laser a chemical dye into your cornea or have a silicone iris surgically implanted instead.
If that sounds dangerous to you, that’s because it is — and eye doctors are desperate to get the message across to the many blue- and green-eyed hopefuls who are being bamboozled by purported success stories online.
Eye color change procedures, none of which are FDA-approved, carry with them risks that include severe light sensitivity, glaucoma, cataracts, corneal disease, vision loss and blindness. Side effects may manifest shortly after a procedure or take years to develop. In many cases, people become depressed as they navigate these consequences, eye doctors told USA TODAY.
One clinic in New York City is driving much of the social media chatter on permanent eye color change, garnering millions of views per TikTok. Run by ophthalmologist Dr. Alexander Movshovich, KERATO is the first keratopigmentation practice in the U.S. that uses special lasers to insert pigments inside a healthy cornea to cover the eye’s natural color, which lies in the iris. The procedure costs $12,000 and is not covered by insurance.
But the risks and cost doesn't deter some people.
Just before the new year, actor and model Jessica White revealed on Instagram that she permanently changed her eye color with KERATO from dark brown to hazel. In 2014, reality TV star Tameka “Tiny” Harris said she went to Africa to change her eye color with iris implants: the riskiest procedure of them all, ophthalmologists say.
What is an iris implant and is it safe?
During iris implant surgery, a doctor cuts a slit in the cornea and slides a folded, artificial iris made of silicone into it, according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology. The fake iris is then unfolded to cover the natural one. This surgery is illegal in the U.S., so many people get it in other countries. Some experts consider the surgery “malpractice.”
Dr. Guillermo Amescua, a cornea specialist at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute within the University of Miami Health System, said he has treated several patients who have experienced serious complications from iris implants and have had to get them removed: an additional surgery that could further damage the eye.
One patient of his is now partially blind; another developed glaucoma — nerve damage that causes vision loss and blindness — so severe they had to get a cornea transplant.
The resulting mental health effects can be brutal. "When people get their implants, they're super happy and experience a boost in self-esteem," Amescua said. "When they start getting complications, however, they go into denial and then get really bad depression when their implants are removed."

Can anyone please match my donation for Farah’s family?
From the GFM:
“I am Farah, from Gaza and displaced from north to south. I am 18 years old. Since I was born, I have been living in wars. I have many dreams, all of which have been shattered. I got a grade of 96.7 in Tawjihi (equivalent of A levels in UK) and I was happy that I would join the university to study the major that I love, but unfortunately my dreams were shattered before they even began. How tired we are of displacement and homelessness, which has exceeded 6 times. We are tired of tent life, the heat of the sun, and the lack of availability of any of the necessities of life (water, fuel, and electricity).
We are tired of the life of sand, insects and worms. Water is bottled from long distances and in a very scarce quantity, and due to the lack of fuel, food is cooked over a fire. Can you imagine how difficult this is?! And the phone that I used to easily put in the electricity socket free anytime I wanted, now I need to charge it in a far away place for money which is very difficult to get .. It is a suffering that animals do not accept, so how about humans! My house was destroyed more than six times, and every time we rebuild it again and create new dreams, but nothing continues in Gaza: no happiness, no dreams, no future, no life... all of them have been destroyed.
I lost my home, my room, my paintings, my neighbours, my friends, and my dearest loved ones. My old father is sick with heart disease. There is a shortage in hospitals of necessary medications for him, and this poses a threat to his life, and I fear that I will lose him at any moment. My nephews , Adam (10 months) and Sanaa (3 years old). They lost their father who was killed while he was going to buy milk and some necessities for his children, what have these children done to lose their dad in this early life of them .. !!! ? We escaped death several times in heroic scenes like those shown in movies. There is no safe place and no peaceful sleep or peace of mind for more than 6 months…
My father is elderly, he lost his left eye during the previous war. It requires a corneal transplant operation to regain his normal vision.
Last time, my little brother panicked when he heard the missiles. His body began to tremble, and for a moment we feared that his heart would stop with fear. At any moment, my family and I could die. The feeling is that you see death in front of you every day... very Difficult..! Imagine yourselves in my place, although I do not wish anyone to go through the events that happened with us. All our demands and wishes are for us to be safe, even for one night.
Help us get out of Gaza.”
NOTE: i found this fundraiser on Instagram, not Tumblr, so it has not been verified by a Palestinian user in the usual way. Use your own discretion, HOWEVER after looking at her instagram accounts i have concluded that there is no reason to doubt this is a legitimate fundraiser

Sea Tawinan is our spoiler man as always. There is a hospital scene in Nong Last that we should definitely look forward to. Perhaps it will be an unsuccessful corneal transplant after which nothing can save Day’s vision and he will begin to accept himself as he is?
Jimmy, you spoil more often than he does, relax, man.

PDEK surgery | American Laser Eye Hospitals
When it comes to corneal transplant operations, PDEK (Pre-Descemet's Endothelial Keratoplasty) is of great significance. Given the level of precision and better results that such surgery provides to patients who suffer from endothelial dysfunction and corneal decompensation, PDEK techniques have changed the entire attitude towards corneal diseases and transplants. At American Laser Eye Hospitals, we are proud to be one of the leading centres offering advanced PDEK surgery in India, more so in Hyderabad. This procedure incorporates all the advantages of precision and effectiveness as well as faster recovery rates, therefore providing hope for patients who wish to restore their vision.
What is PDEK Surgery in brief
PDEK surgery is another form of endothelial keratoplasty that focuses on replacing only the inner diseased layers of the cornea and not the outer healthy layers. In a conventional corneal transplantation, where the entire cornea is replaced, the recovery is likely to be longer and also more complications are likely to develop. Such, however is the case that PDEK does not involve anything of that sort. This is because this technique can do away with disease endothelial tissue without removing the whole cornea and only a healthy thin tissue from a donor cornea is fitted into the vascular bed. This innovative technique is useful especially for patients with Fuchs' endothelial dystrophy and other diseases associated with the damage of the corneal endothelium.
The research adopts the technique of implanting so called pre-Descemet’s layer together with endothelium which enhances the strength of the graft and helps to maintain it in its position. The use of ultra-thin grafts during PDEK procedure reduces trauma to the eye, leaving the patients with a safe and effective surgical option. The added benefit of stability from the PDEK surgery translates to less rejection rates and good vision, even years after the surgery, increasing the overall success of the surgery as compared to the conventional means used.
What Are the Benefits of Getting PDEK Surgery from American Eye Laser Hospitals?
Technologically Advanced: American Eye Laser Hospitals have the latest technology and sophisticated instruments that enable them to perform safe and accurate PDEK surgeries. Our expenditure on sophisticated technology signifies our desire to provide quality services and successful results.
Surgeons of Global Standards: All the surgeons make sure that they have worked enough and trained for corneal transplants and PDEK surgery. The doctor’s ability to perform successful PDEK surgery enables each of the operations done to provide optimal visual outcomes while minimizing risks.
Specialized Solutions: We are aware that no two patients will have the same condition regarding their eyesight. At American Laser Eye Hospitals, we focus on individualized treatment strategies in order to meet the particular requirements, which means that every individual is provided with the best surgical approach and care during the treatment period.
Support After Surgery: Recovery and care after undergoing PDEK surgery is of higher importance. Generally, post-operative care is complete with regular check-ups, control of medications, and provision of guidance so that patients get the best vision possible after the surgery.
How PDEK Surgery Benefits the Patient
There are many benefits PDEK has to offer that are considered to be advantageous for this kind of surgery corneal transplantation, for example:
Quick PostOperative Recovery: In contrast to the conventional corneal vanity surgery performed on patients, which takes a long time to heal, recovery after surgery of this kind is much shorter and patients are able to get back to their normal daily activities rather fast.
Less Chance of Rejection: Because of the keyhole nature of this procedure and the use of tissue layers that are very thin, rejection rates are low, and hence, the transplant is more stable and long-lasting.
Lower Quality Vision: Since everything is done so perfectly, the vision after surgery is better, and clearer, and less peaceful compared to the vision with other kinds of corneal transplants where the tissue is disturbed in some ways and allows more light into the optical element.
Allows for Lesser Surgical Attention: This surgery typically has less aggressiveness of postoperative rehabilitation, and a smaller number of control visits is required in comparison with traditional corneal transplants.
Is PDEK Surgery Indicated for You?
People suffering retinopathy on the basis of structural changes in the endothelium and those with diseases associated with opacity of the cornea causing vision impairment, are likely to benefit from PDEK surgery. With consultation to a highly qualified cornea expert from American Laser Eye Hospitals, you will get to know if the PDEK procedure makes sense for your eye condition. Our team is focused on ensuring that all your inquiries are resolved, the procedure is understood in every detail and the buy decision is made easily.
Reach out to American Laser Eye Hospitals for Professional Eye Care Services
American Laser Eye Hospitals has proven to be a reliable and trustworthy institution in the eye hospitals context by embracing advanced procedures such as PDEK surgery to improve your vision quality. Get in touch with us now if you would like to book an appointment to find out more about how we can assist in restoring your vision and enhancing your ocular health with the help of our advanced surgical procedures. Corneal Transplant Surgery: A Complete Guide to Keratoplasty
By Dr. Aayush Tandon, Corneal Transplant Specialist
Corneal transplantation, or Keratoplasty, is a remarkable surgical procedure that can restore vision for patients suffering from various corneal conditions. As a specialist in corneal transplantation, I’ve seen how life-changing this procedure can be, enabling patients to see clearly again. In this guide, I’ll walk you through everything you need to know about corneal transplantation, its types, and what to expect before, during, and after surgery.
What is Keratoplasty? Keratoplasty is a surgical procedure where a damaged or diseased cornea is replaced with a healthy donor cornea. The cornea is the eye’s transparent outer layer, responsible for focusing light onto the retina. Damage to this critical part of the eye can lead to blurred vision, light sensitivity, and even blindness. Corneal transplants help to restore the clarity of this layer, improving overall vision.
Why Might You Need a Corneal Transplant? Several eye conditions can lead to the need for a corneal transplant, including:
•Keratoconus: A condition where the cornea thins and bulges outward in a cone shape, distorting vision.
•Fuchs’ Endothelial Dystrophy: This hereditary condition causes the cornea’s inner layer to deteriorate, leading to swelling and vision loss.
•Corneal Scarring: Injuries, infections, or inflammation can scar the cornea, impairing its transparency and vision.
•Corneal Edema: Swelling of the cornea, often due to complications from previous eye surgeries.
When vision cannot be improved through corrective lenses or less invasive treatments, corneal transplantation may be the best solution.
Types of Corneal Transplants There are different types of corneal transplants depending on the location and depth of corneal damage. As a specialist, I select the most appropriate type based on the patient’s condition. The three main types are:
Penetrating Keratoplasty (PK):
This is the traditional full-thickness corneal transplant where the entire damaged cornea is replaced with a donor cornea. It’s commonly used for patients with extensive corneal scarring or thinning.
Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK):
In this procedure, only the outer and middle layers of the cornea are replaced, while the healthy inner layer is preserved. DALK is used for conditions affecting only the outer layers, like keratoconus or scarring.
Descemet’s Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) and Descemet Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSEK):
These techniques focus on replacing only the innermost layer of the cornea (the endothelium). DMEK and DSEK are typically used for conditions like Fuchs’ dystrophy. These procedures are less invasive and usually involve quicker recovery times compared to full-thickness transplants.
The Corneal Transplant Procedure Step 1: Pre-Surgical Evaluation
Before surgery, a detailed eye examination is conducted to assess your condition. I will measure the thickness, shape, and overall health of your cornea to determine the best treatment plan.
Step 2: Surgery
Corneal transplant surgery typically takes 1-2 hours and can be done under local or general anesthesia depending on the patient’s needs. During the surgery:
•A circular portion of the damaged cornea is removed.
•A matching donor cornea, obtained from a healthy deceased donor, is carefully stitched into place using ultra-fine sutures.
•In partial-thickness transplants (DALK, DSEK, DMEK), only the affected layers are replaced, preserving the healthy portions of the cornea.
Step 3: Post-Surgery Care
After surgery, patients are monitored closely for any signs of infection or complications. Eye drops are prescribed to help the healing process and prevent rejection of the donor cornea. The recovery period varies based on the type of transplant, but most patients notice a significant improvement in vision within a few months.
Recovery and Healing Recovering from corneal transplantation can take some time, and it’s essential to follow your surgeon’s advice to ensure the best outcome. Here’s what to expect:
First Few Weeks: Your eye may be red, irritated, or sensitive to light. Eye drops will help reduce inflammation and prevent infection.
Vision Improvement: Vision may be blurry immediately after surgery, but it will improve gradually as your eye heals. Patients undergoing partial-thickness transplants (DMEK/DSEK) often recover vision faster.
Suture Removal: If you undergo a penetrating keratoplasty, sutures may remain in place for up to a year and are removed gradually as the cornea heals.
Follow-Up Care: Regular follow-up appointments are essential to monitor the healing process and ensure there is no rejection of the donor cornea.
Risks and Complications Corneal transplants, like any surgery, carry some risks. These include:
•Rejection of the Donor Cornea: In some cases, the immune system may attack the donor cornea, leading to rejection. Early symptoms include redness, pain, and vision changes. Prompt treatment with eye drops or medication can often prevent permanent damage.
•Infection or Inflammation: Infections are rare but can occur. That’s why it’s important to follow all post-surgery instructions and attend regular check-ups.
•Astigmatism: Some patients develop astigmatism due to the shape of the donor cornea. This can be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or additional surgery.
Success Rates Corneal transplant surgery has a high success rate. The outcome largely depends on the underlying condition and the patient’s adherence to post-surgery care. For most patients, keratoplasty can restore clear vision and improve their quality of life.
Penetrating Keratoplasty Success: Around 90% of PK transplants are successful, with donor tissue lasting many years.
DMEK/DSEK Success: These procedures have even higher success rates, with quicker recovery times and lower rejection risks.
Conclusion Corneal transplantation is a powerful procedure that can restore vision and enhance the lives of those with corneal diseases. At Tandon Eye Hospital, we specialize in providing the latest advancements in keratoplasty, ensuring the best care for our patients.
If you are facing corneal issues and considering a transplant, it’s important to discuss your options with an experienced corneal specialist. I’m here to guide you through every step of the process, ensuring the best possible outcome for your vision.

Uzeonce Eye Shield: The difference is crystal clear
PREMIUM ULTRA CLEAR EYE SHIELD
UZEONCE eye shields are not ordinary plastic eye patches. They are an emphatic statement of quality that endorse the high quality of surgery performed, while enhancing patient experience.
Why is the plastic eye shield so important, you may ask? After all it is only a plastic cover for the patient eye.
Well, think of them as patient companions, who play a critical role in safeguarding the patient's eye during the vulnerable recovery period. While ensuring the safety and healing of the eye post-surgery is paramount, it doesn’t hurt if the eye patch also looks friendly & smart. 😊
Importance of Patient Compliance
For the plastic eye shield to be effective, patient compliance is essential. Educating patients about the importance of wearing the plastic eye guard as directed, especially during sleep, can significantly reduce the risk of post-operative complications.
The comfortable design, smart looks and transparent vision of the Uzeonce Eye Shield Clear make it more likely that patients will adhere to the recommended use, leading to better surgical outcomes.

This feature is particularly useful in detecting early signs of complications such as infection or inflammation.
Ventilation

Durability and Protection
Made from high-quality plastic, the Uzeonce Eye Shield Clear provides robust protection against external force. The high impact proof plastic eye protector is designed to withstand accidental shocks, offering a reliable protection against potential harm.
Comfort and Fit

Easy disinfection
