Yay! I just got a letter approving my eligibility to continue insurance coverage as a dependent through my parent. This means I’ll continue to have health, vision, and dental insurances starting in January. I was a little worried when I didn’t get a response for a while. I was also worried that there’d be a gap in coverage. 3 years ago, when they switched to a new system, my coverage stopped in December. I wasn’t approved until that March. So, I had a couple of months without anything. I especially can’t do that now that I have metastatic breast cancer. I’m glad I don’t have to worry about it anymore.
I recently tried getting my monthly blood draw. I was told there wasn’t an order in for it. I for some reason thought it’d be related to the insurance thing. It wasn’t. I messaged my oncologist about it, and she said they just forgot to put the annual order for it in. So, I got that done a couple of days later. The results were pretty good. My oncologist also wants me to schedule my scans for early February. I was waiting for a response about my health insurance before I did that. Now that I know, I can schedule it. I have an xgeva appointment next Monday. It’s been a little over 4 months, and I’m supposed to get the shot every 3 months. I also already have the next one scheduled. I’ll see my oncologist the same day. That will be in March. I can relax a little more now, though.

The last time I got new glasses (about a year ago) I was told that in order to treat my 'severe astigmatism' I would need special lenses... And I was like, what? So they explained it to me and I was shook.
Normal eyes don't see the lights like the twinkling stars in those animated movies??? What??
Anyway, I didn't get the special lenses cause expensive and I don't have vision insurance so me at night is still like "ooh, big light" but now I know that I'm special and it's 'severe'. XD

Learning the Different Types of Health Insurance
Tumblr media
Health insurance plans vary in terms of coverage, cost, and flexibility. Here's a breakdown of some common types:
1. **Limited Benefit Plan**: Also known as mini-med plans, these offer coverage for specific services or conditions, often with low premiums but limited benefits. They may cover only certain medical expenses or have caps on coverage amounts.
2. **Full Medical Plan**: This type of plan typically offers comprehensive coverage for a wide range of medical services, including hospital stays, doctor visits, prescription drugs, and preventive care. These plans often have higher premiums but provide more extensive coverage.
3. **Short-term Plan**: This health insurance plan is designed to provide temporary coverage for individuals who need gap coverage between other insurance plans or who are in transitional periods, such as recent graduates, individuals between jobs, or those waiting for eligibility in a long-term health insurance plan. These plans typically offer limited benefits and may not cover pre-existing conditions or provide comprehensive coverage for all healthcare needs.
3. **Fixed Indemnity Plan**: These plans pay a fixed amount for covered services, regardless of the actual cost incurred. They usually have lower premiums but may require you to pay more out of pocket for medical expenses.
4. **Multi-Plan**: Multi-plan options may combine elements of different types of health insurance, offering a mix of coverage options tailored to individual needs. These could include elements of limited benefit plans, full medical plans, and fixed indemnity plans.
The "best" health insurance plan depends on your individual needs, budget, and preferences. For someone with frequent medical needs, a full medical plan might offer the most comprehensive coverage despite higher premiums. On the other hand, if you're relatively healthy and want to minimize costs, a limited benefit or fixed indemnity plan might be more suitable.
