Lester Sinclair: Leap of faith

Warning: pissed off Lester and fear.

Rose gripped the wood of the table in front of her. Staring straight ahead to the blurry nothing ness of their kitchen. Lester paced back and forth from the table in a huff.

"Come on, you stop that right now Cher. Tears aren't going to change this. You know what you are suppose to do with this" Lester said

"it won't work" Rose said softly

"you don't fucking know that, and you ain't even willing to try?"Lester exclaimed in both anger and exhaustion.

"you know why" Rose said softly. fingers digging into splintering wood of the table.

"No, I fucking don't. but you sweetheart. So lay it out for me. why are you against this" he asked, trying desperately to understand her. wanting to hear one god damn explanation that didn't sound like bullshit.

"Don't you wanna see again. See things clearly. at the very least be able to read a book and not get a migraine or have me read to you? don't you want to never pick up another god damn Braille book again?" Lester asked

"It's far, we'd have to travel across the country, I'd have to take time of work, you would too because I won't be able to take care of myself. "she said head turning towards him a bit.

"I'll drive you anywhere you want to go, I don't care how far, or how long it will take. Hell, I'll steal Bo's truck to give you a more comfortable drive if you want" He said which made her snort a little bit dismissively

"that wouldn't be worth the fit he'd throw" she said

"it be worth any punch or shit talk Bo's got in him and believe me. I've seen the worse Cher. and don't start telling me it cost to much. I've got savings and your insurance is willing to pay for it. " Lester said, before she could even open her mouth

"your brothers are against it" she pointed out

" fuck em both then" Lester spat which made her jerk up at that

"no, Don't say that. Not for this.Not for me" Rose said so softly

Bo's against it because of how long and how far we'd have to travel. Vinny against it because he's afraid of what you'll think of him when you see him clearly and because he don't trust doctors. They both'll fucking get over it. "Lester said looking her dead in the eye. chest puffed out like he was ready to fight God himself.

"you's upset about this too" Rose pointed out

"No cher, I'm not upset. I'm angry. I am smack dab pissed off because I know you are to God damn stubborn to take anything from the pain. Even though its been how many years? "Lester said smacking the table hard making her jump a bit

" Seven" Rose said softly

"that's right, seven whole years sober and you still wouldn't take anything for it would you" Lester all but sneered

"I won't be addict again Les... don't put me in that position. Don't ask that of me" She said hands trembling a bit.

Seeing that, Lester backed off just a bit. Took a long deep breath and slowly let it out.

"it will hurt, it's gonna hurt bad Les, and all for something that we don't even know will work. that has like a 40 percent chance of working. that probably won't even been permanent. Might give me 10 years of sight before it fades again. "Rose said and the tears were threatening to come again.

"think of all that you could do with 10 years sweetheart. All the books you could read, all the shows you could see, all the sunrises we could watch even if they are in black n white. Hell, our Childrens faces' Rose. you could see them for yourself. Yeah it's gonna hurt, you are to damn stubborn to let it be anything but pain, but if it does work. Think of what it could give us!" Lester said taking her hand in his. His were sweaty and she was shaking.

"I don't get my hopes up Les, or yours. " her voice trembled. tears rolled down her cheeks

"don't leave it up to hope Rosie, give it to faith. Have faith in me that I can get us there and get you through the surgery. we'll be alright." he told her gently

"you'd do that for me? "she asked him

"Honey Suckle I'd give you my own eyes, my teeth and my balls if it would make ya happy. And doing this, having that back. It'd make ya happy. "he told her making her snort just a bit

"...okay.. okay I'll do it Les. We'll do it" she said so softly he almost didn't hear her, but he did. So he pulled her into his arms and let her shake like a leaf. At least she was going to try and take leap of faith.

Victim’s hand suddenly started spinning in a circular motion. Chosen watched carefully as a lasso suddenly appeared in his hand. Panic filled his head as he now knew his mission. Flee. Fire sparked from Chosen’s hands, lifting him off the ground and away from the stranger that had trapped him. But Chosen was not fast enough, for the lasso had wrapped around his neck, choking him as it was drawn taut.

“Agh!” Chosen choked as he almost fell to the ground. The rope was suddenly pulled again, causing the black hollow head to hit the floor. Tears pricked his eyes as he struggled to breathe. But this was no time for hesitation. He needed to free himself or he could die. Chosen grabbed the rope, weakly trying to grab enough to loosen the loop from his neck. But instead, Victim pulled Chosen closer, flinging him to the floor on his back. Chosen feebly flipped onto his arms and knees, trying to get away from his abuser. A sudden sharp crack was heard behind him. Chosen turned to see that Victim was using the other end of the rope as a whip. With a scattered brain, Chosen struggled to get his body to listen to his brain. Chosen flaied as he tried to flee, hearing the whip once more.

“No! Please!!” Chosen suddenly cried out. He curled up, covering his head with his arms, and pulling his legs in. Chosen laid there shaking with terror. Suddenly, the rope went slack. Confusion washed over Chosen as the rope was removed from his neck and he was embraced in a hug.

“Wh-what…?” Suddenly, there was the sound of a bell ringing.

“CUT!!! Vincent, what are you doing?!” Cody looked up to see his older brother in tears.

“I'm sorry! But I just can't help it!” Vin sobbed. “He looked so scared and I didn't want to hurt my baby brother!”

“Lame!” Danica shouted at him. The director sighed and shook his head.

“Alright, 30 minute break!” He shouted. Vincent stood, helping his little brother up.

“Are you ok Cody? You're not too hurt are you? Oh, I'm so sorry.” Vincient said as he hugged the younger boy.

“I'm fine Vin. I was just acting.” Cody chuckled as he patted his older brother’s back.

“And you're absolutely sure about that? Look at your neck! It’s starting to bruise!” Vincent said as he tilted Cody’s head to the side.

“Come on, let's get you an ice pack.” Before Cody could protest, his older brother was already dragging him away. That was before their cousin, Danica, stopped them.

“You're such a worry wart Vinnie! Let the kid live a little!” She laughed, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and messing up his hair.

”Hey! Stop that! Don't mess up my hair!” Vincent shoutted, trying to escape the stronger girl. As Danica distracted Vincent, she gestured for Cody to go. Cody mouthed a “thank you” before running off to join his friends.

Cody ran over to the break area, immediately spotting his friends.

“Hey guys!” Cody shouted as he ran up to them.

“Cody!” They all cheered as they hopped out of their seats and ran to hug their friend.

“Are you ok?!”

“You're scene is so scary!”

“Did you finish filming?”

“I bet Vincent chickened out again.”

“You're such a great actor!”

“Here, have some water.”

“Thanks Soren.” Cody said as he took the water bottle from his younger cousin. Soren nodded as Yevette suddenly stepped up.

“So, did Vinnie chicken out again?” She asked with a smirk. Cody chuckled and fiddled with the bottle in his hands.

“Maybe…?” Cody said with a lopsided smile.

“Ha! I told you!!” Yevette said as she turned to the rest of the gang.

“What?! Again?!” Berry groaned.

“Now yall gotta pay up!” Peyton said as they fist bumped with Yevette. The others groaned as they got out their candy. They handed over their lifesaver gummies and snickers as Cody laughed.

“You guys really bet on Vincent stopping the scene?” Cody laughed.

“When do we NOT make bets on anything?” Reed scoffed. Everyone laughed at Reed’s comment. He was right after all. The group of friends were always betting on something. Cody chuckled and took a sip of the cold water. As he did, Gabriel noticed the bruising on Cody’s neck.

“Dude. You're literally starting to bruise around your neck!” Gabe shouted. The rest of the group turned to look.

“Ah, Vincent did say that huh?” Coddy muttered. Remembering what his brother was originally taking him to do, Cody put the cold bottle up to his neck. He flinched at first, but he held the bottle to the bruising.

“Vince’s gonna kill you if he doesn't get his act together.” Berry suddenly blurted. Yevette elbowed the boy hard in the side, causing him to wince.

“Ow! Sorry!” Berry huffed. Cody chuckled.

“Ah, it's fine. I'm sure the director will give the scene a break… Or completely recast Victim altogether.”

“I heard that!” Cody and his friends jumped and turned to see Vincent leaning against the wall. The older brother wore a sort of poker face. Scaring Cody and Soren.

“O-Oh hey Vin!” Cody stuttered. Vincent stalked up to the little group, causing them all to stumble back in fear.

“W-w-wait!!! W-we were joking! Right guys?! We were just joking!” Soren pleaded with his older cousin. Vincent glared down at him, an almost angry smile resting on his lips. Soren cowered away and behind Cody.

“I was going easy on you Cody. but it seems you really want the hard way.” Vincent said with a terrifyingly calm demeanor. He leaned into Cody, still with the irritated smile.

“C-can you please not hurt me?” Cody squeaked out. Suddenly, the bell telling the actors to come back to the stage rang. Cody knew he was screwed. Vincent chuckled and stood straight again.

“Prepare yourself little brother. This time, I won't ‘chicken out’.” Vincent said as he turned and walked away.

“And you can bet on it!” He called back as he disappeared behind the corner. Cody and the gang stood there frozen. Peyton suddenly rested a hand on Cody’s shoulder.

“Well, it was nice knowing ya Cody.” They said with a depressed look.

“Wha-Peyton!”

“RIP Cody.” Soren said, hand over his heart.

“Not you too!!” Cody screeshed.

“Actors for scene seven, please return to the set.” The co director’s voice came on the loudspeaker.

“I'm so dead.” Cody said as he tried to turn and run. But Gabriel and Reed grabbed him.

“Noooo!!! I'm too young to die!!!!” Cody cried as they pulled him back to the set. Soren, Peyton, Yevette, and Berry stood there watching as the two boys dragged away the oldest group member.

“How much you guys wanna bet Vincent will actually kill him?” Yevette snickered.

Well, I do something with my hands. I have to. I have been trained to fight, not freeze. So... if I'm not doing something... someone will get hurt...

Often, when I get stressed... I help Vlad garden or paint with Vincent... I tend to freeze up, maybe even fawn...

Yeah, I do something creative. It's the best use of it and lets me get things out without hurting someone. Fight or Fawn

Creative shit. It's what I do anyway, so I just have to go to the next one. Or just go out to do a job if I can't sit still. Fight or Flight depending on the situation

Best friend?

Sauske. Definitely. We traveled through time together and trained together. The only ones I'm closer to than him are my family and Kicho. We absolutely love being able to rambles at each other about different theories and such ND squad for life! Let's also forget that I tried asking him out and Kenshin threatened to kill me for that

Hm... well, that would be Vincient and Theo. They often stick together, so when I started hanging out with Vincient, Theo followed along like a gaurd dog. I think... the way that I am is a relief to them both... that... they aren't alone in the battles of the mind. They are both very talented, and im glad to have them as friends.

Andre and Kayden, i think, would be the two I'm closest to. I get to see them often, so that definitely helps. I met Andre when I first moved to Bennonite. He actively tried to get me to hate Silvio. But that ship was already sailed. For Kayden, we met the first time I returned to Obsidian. The two of them are very different people, but they are fun and interesting. But if you mean out of the princes... I think that would be Yevs or Keith. We only met more recently, but we just clicked, ya know?

Why do I need friends? They are just going to betray me in the end.

The real problem with 2020 was probably just that the left sucks

Freddie DeBoer and Vincient Bevins have both recently published books that purport to examine the manner in which the left-seeming energy of 2020 dissipated. I have purchased each but not been able to bring myself to read either. Not because I dislike the authors; quite the opposite, I admire them greatly and read their debuts. The problem is that I really, really don't want to admit to myself how much the events of 2020 broke my hope and spirit.

What was your favorite lefty moment of that horrible year?

Was it the time an Hispanic business owner defended his storefront against anti-police protestors with a chainsaw, which caused said anti-police protestors to squeal that they were calling the police?

Was it when Chris Martin Palmer, an NBA reporter for ESPN, first tweeted "Burn that shit down. Burn it all down" along with a screenshot of a large arson in a dilapidated American city while his avatar was a cartoon portrait of George Floyd. And then, the very next day--same account, same avatar--he tweeted "They just attacked our system community down the street. It's a gated community and they tried to climb the gates. They had to beat them back. Then destroyed a Starbicls and are now in front my building. Get these animals TF out of my neighborhood. Go back to where you live."

Or, saving the worst for last, perhaps your fondest memory was of Seattle's "Capital Hill Autonomous Zone," typically referred to as CHOP or CHAZ. Autonomous Zones were first theorized by "anarcho-immediatist" poet Hakim Bey, who envisioned them as lawless areas within larger communities that provided "radical safety" to their inhabitants. No laws, sure, but a helluva lot of rules. You can shoot up on the sidewalk or light a car on fire no problem, but if you dare misgender someone, express a forbidden thought, or otherwise just look funny, you are liable to get murdered by one of the self-annointed CHAZ "security personnel," hormone-guzzling freaks armed with assault rifles.

You can guess how this played out. They had their tents, their drum circles, their needle exchanges, and their woefully pathetic community garden. They also executed at least one black child who was joyriding a stolen car within their supposedly law-free utopia. We know this happened because one of their brain dead community members posted a joyful tweet about the "beautiful shot placement" of said hormone-guzzling freaks (although a video of the incident, since scrubbed from the internet, confirmed the murder occurred after the vehicle was disabled).

What was the explanation for this? Not just for the murder itself, but for the celebration afterward? Well, they were scared and also the black kids were doing a minor crime. Literally, without exaggeration, within just a couple weeks of establishing their ideal, radical community, the left had become an even worse version of the murder cops they were supposedly protesting.

And so... I dunno. Maybe the spirit of 2020 wasn't coopted by powerful forces or anything so much as it just sucked? Like, maybe these people are just violent shitheads whose differentiation from the far right is much more a matter of style than of substance? Maybe there's no path forward. Maybe there's no light at the end of our tunnel but just another, shittier tunnel?

Sorry, I was curious about this for a while...Vincient was noted as a solider instead of a knight and it got me wondering what the different is between the two army(?) / groups (?). Is the knights exlusive to nobles? Or their role/scope, or who they report up to? And since Vincent will become the next General of the Imperial Army, that is a solider/army promotion route?? @_@ Sorry, I get stuck into general little lore pockets like these.

It's okay I was waiting for this one because I think it's interesting. (It's boring as hell.)

Only nobles can become knights so it is another way to distinguish the poor and the rich.

All of the soldiers are the regular people of the kingdom and they're the ones who go to war while knights exist to protect the nobility so you will see them as guards at the palace or the houses of other nobles.

Knights are also the ones who have a chance of becoming Shields, soldiers do not get that chance.

Vincent becoming the Imperial Army General is an army promotion! A knight wouldn't be considered for it since they are trained separately and knights usually look down on soldiers.

Although Vincent is the most "talented" (in the army what matters is the amount of people you kill so yeah very talented and so cool 💀) soldier, the fact he is the son of the previous General raises some eyebrows despite the fact he performed very well in his first and only war.

Meanwhile, Shredder finds out about this female mutant being in New York, and thinks of a plan with his right hand lacky Master Tatsu to hunt and capture her:

Donnie realizing this new mutant has a different type of ooze in her blood that gives her an immortal life, and it’s sky blue instead of the usual green after extracting and analyzing the fuck out of it:

Da boys finding out that shredder is hunting their potential love interest down and are willing to protect her, while fearing of her getting hurt like how it nearly happened to April:

Da boys fighting over who would win the Female Mutant’s heart first during their first Christmas with a girl they would actually have a high chance with:

Shredder’s new plan after capturing said female mutant and seeing her extracted blood and what it does through microscope:

Depression

ꕥ Notes: Going through another dip in my depression. Take care of yourselves, as it is rough out here.

He finds it easy to take care of physical harm, and he does well comforting and making sure you have water and food and are showered. That said he feels useless and terrible while you go through these depressive episodes, while he might be good comfort he can’t use his magic to make it better. I think he takes it very personally, but not that he would ever let you know. He would probably talk it out with Vincient probably. He would be there for you though, ready with whatever you need. Also is the one to make sure you take your meds if you need any.

I think this is also one of the few times he will shapeshift for you and cuddle with you as a wolf. Or stay as a human and cuddle you, whichever you prefer more. He will look up foods that are good for episodes and make sure to cook it and get you fed enough so you're not starving yourself. Another one to make sure you're taking meds on time. Making sure your switch is charged, your comfort movie is playing and the couch is piled with blankets when you come home from work. He is a provider and he will try and give you things that will make it just a little better.

Asher doesn’t need an excuse to shift, but he is even faster if his babe makes grabby hands to cuddle with him. He sets up a blanket fort and orders pizza and chinese take out and anything else you might need for a greasy overload to try and feel better. He does try to remind you to take meds but he does forget about it also. He tells you dumb stories of himself to make you smile or laugh at his antics. He will do dumb things if that doesn’t work to make you happy. He’s used to being the clown for the sake of others.

He’s no stranger to depression also, having spent two years in hell he knows what it can be like. He is more quiet, making sure you eat well, you’re not just staying in bed all day, and helping you shower if you need it. He also frames it in such a way to make you think it’s for his sake, he doesn’t know how to turn on the shower - yes he knows you showed him just last week, but human stuff is weird and confusing - or he wants you to try this food he summoned as he wants to make sure the pasta taste like it should. He will also try to remind you to take meds, but it’s a new concept for him too so he may forget also.

omg so your mirror caleb... have you ever seen the movie witchfinder general... it's a late 60s 'horror' film about you guessed... it matthew hopkins played by vincient price and hes actually terrifying in it. I believe you can just find the whole thing on youtube still if your interested, it's in the horror genre but idk it's not anything like modern horror.

oh I've been looking for that movie! I looked up for outfit references and chose that particular one- I haven't seen it. I didn't know its on YouTube! thanks!

I also wanted to write some headcannons on Sage and Maggie's relationship!

Sage: is 23, shy and v self conscious but stubborn with a strong (and unique) sense of justice - she dates Vincient and sees Maggie as an older sister/mother.

Sage works with Lester on the roads - Sage loves collecting bones and feels very safe around Lestire as he reminds her of her older brother Deo!

Maggie and Sage kick it off really quickly - Maggie is drawn to her bc Sage has 2 beauty marks on her face and given Maggie's preference for fashion Maggie loves them.

Maggie conviences her brothers (mainly bo) to keep Sage alive and when Maggie notices Sage's crush on Vincent she Plays match maker.

Maggie loves Sage and Vinny together - loves seeing her big brother happy and confident!

Sage is also stubborn and defends Vinecent - Bo hates it and because of this these two don't get along. *I secretly believe Bo finds it adorable how his brothers lil' doll stands up to him she's tiny like 4'11* -

Maggie loves dressing Sage up and really helps with her confidence and Body image

Sage and Maggie do lil photo-shoots they both love it bc Maggie gets to dress up and do a Marlon Munroe style shoot while Sage gets to take photos and be all artistic

Sage bleaches the front of her bangs to Match Maggie

Sage will participate in the killings *if* she feels like the victims deserve it

Sage grew up without a mother and Maggie really heals her - If sage isn't working or w Vinny she follows Maggie around like a shadow! Often calls Maggie n her partner "mums" as a joke

Trolls: Hair Raising Scare O' Ween

just jotting down a Trolls story that came to me in dream. It was a halloween-special like story. It started in Troll Village/Trollstopia with Poppy was planning a party called the 'Hair Raising Scare O' Ween'.

I don't remember much about the plot or the main villain. but my main takeaway was that he used a spell book to summon a group of 'Monster Trolls' trolls based of horror movies/ Tropes. (ala 13 ghosts of Scooby doo)

I remember the monster trolls invading the Scare O Ween Party and near the end the Trolls manage to trap the Monster Trolls in the book but discuss if the Monster Trolls should be imprisoned or free as Poppy notes they weren't really hurting anyone and just scaring everyone.

The thing i like most about this dream were the Monster Trolls Themselves. my memory is flaky there was between 7 to 10 of them but here is what I remember.

Vincient- a typical vampire and the leader of the Monster Trolls, able to levitate and turn into a bat

Jack Hollows- a reference to the headless horseman, but with a motorcycle/beetlebike. and throws flaming pumpkins.

(These two were the only ones with names I remember, the rest are placeholders)

Scaretroll- a mix between DC's and Marvel's Scarecrows. a sentient Scarecrow, uses faming tools like a scythe and pitchforks. also has a pet crow.

Monsterman Troll- a Frankenstein's monster character is mute and the muscle of the group.

Doll Troll- a living doll, about the size of a teaspoon Troll, like Smidge, a total prankster, using her doll like appearance to mess with others.

Beast Troll- a werewolf like troll with sharp teeth and long unkept flock and hair, acts like a dog

That's all i remember but i was wondering if i should flesh out these concepts and do something with it.

Oh, I have made it horrible in my head. I know Vincient ended himself because he didn't want to be a burden on Theo. So, one of the family members got to see him dead/dieing. To make it worse, what if it was Theo himself who saw that.

Vincent's death is a lot more traumatic if you consider the fact that Theo had to pay Gauguin to live with Vincent
