He is reading a newspaper, his bare feet outstretched and books and sandals piled next to him. The water catches his reflection, and catches him in the act of reflection. But this is no luncheon in the park. This is a scene in a painting about war and resistance.

((I have so many verses for Shy but honestly none of them compare to having her wander into things wholly unprepared, save for a can-do attitude and a love of the most morbid shit imaginable.

I have a lot of feelings about her GF verse at the moment. She was in her late 20's during all of this portal stuff and her teens and early years were spent absolutely being a hippie/yippie. She was definitely involved with some semi-extreme counterculture movements and while she never did anything too destructive or harmful, she absolutely raided animal testing labs and protested the war in Vietman. She'd have been about 21 at the time and while she was probably trying to stay out of trouble due to her mental health issues, she would have aligned herself with causes like that, as well as the anarchist movement.

Girl absolutely devoured fantasy novels and after she gets out of the fae realm, she reads Mabel her copy of The Last Unicorn. There are no dry eyes at the end of that book.

Also...she had it out for Ronald Reagan. As in, when she gets back to earth, she's disappointed he's dead because she planned on fist fighting him.))

Lol 😂 it was super funny in my country's dub

I'm from Vietnam and Vietnam TV back in the 2000s are filled with these funny historical comedy series or just historical dramas, I actually saw a few as a child (Which includes Journey to the West which was already broadcast since my mother's time, also some other classic series that I'm not sure what are their English/Chinese names)

I saw the Vietnamese dub so much, I forgot their original language is Chinese and Vietnamese dubs can range in the Provincial accents, which is very diverse since Vietnamese accents going from the North to the South have many variations and some are considered the "common tongue" that most understand, it also thanks to the voice actors' ability and their vocal ranges, some are super impressive cuz you can feel the expression and emotions of the portrayed characters, unlike emotionless voicing that those dubbing machines make, which can affect the general moods

I heard before Stephen Chow sent a thank you letter to his Vietnamese VA who voiced him in his movies broadcast in Vietnam because he can exactly see HIMSELF speaking Vietnamese through that guy and he believed that's how he sounds like if he speaks Vietnamese cuz the VA was that good, which is fair cuz I actually thought Stephen Chow was speaking Vietnamese too and then I remember it was a Vietnamese person who does the voice, also it's pretty nice he watched his movies in other language dubs (Btw Hong Kong movies dub in my country also have their own distinct accents cuz they were making as though the Hong Kong people speaking Vietnamese, which is impressive in some ways)

Accents are fun 😊 despite how sometimes there are accents that do speak the same language as me, but the sounds are just off and they sound like foreigners even, it's called ✨Diversity✨

ohh thanks for sharing, this stuff is so fascinating, especially the information about provincial accents. i had no idea three kingdoms and journey to the west were so popular in vietnam too! i can't believe stephen chow has a canon vietman-sona...
