It's time to start the cover reveals!
I will be re-releasing six of my backlisted novels in the next handful of months, and I'm happy to share the brand new covers!
They were created by the crazy awesome and talented @once-upon-a-reblog!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First up, the two novels of The Skylark's Saga.
What do you think??? Gorgeous, right?
Both books will be re-released sometime in 2024, and I'm working hard for it to be early in the year.
In the meantime you can read excerpts here AND you can listen to the song by Victor Sierra inspired by the duology here!

Echo and Sierra: Do you think we'll get in trouble?
"Do you think we'll get in trouble?"
She doesn't know how to answer that. They're already in trouble, in more trouble than Sierra can understand (she's learning, evolving, but not fast enough; Echo has the faintest, most twisted feeling of gratitude toward Alpha for saving her from that, no matter how horrifying the circumstances), but that doesn't mean that they're wrong.
But Sierra is programmed to be her best, to cooperate, to do as she'd told. So Echo settles for a gentle tone, and a hand on her arm. "I don't think anyone will notice. Now, come on; go ask him."
Sierra approaches Victor, a shy smile on her lips. Victor, of course, brightens when she walks up.
"Good day."
"Good day." She shifts on her feet, hands dangling by her sides. They've been turned into little more than children, and Echo kind of wants to shake someone for it. "Do you know how to dance?"
His brows furrow. "What is... Dance?"
"Echo showed me. Here." She holds out a hand, and he grasps it automatically, lacing their fingers together. She giggles, shaking her head. "No, like this." She disentangles them, guiding him to fold his fingers over hers, into something a little closer to the proper hold. "And your other hand goes here." She brings it down to her waist, then returns her own to his shoulder. "And then we just... Move our feet."
He seems confused, but unsurprisingly compliant, wiggling each foot in turn. Once again, Sierra giggles, and this time Echo catches herself doing the same. It is kind of sweet, in a strange way.
"No. I move my foot back, and you move yours forward."
This, at least, seems to me sense to him. "Because I don't want you to be away from me."
"Right. Then we step to the side, and then you step back."
"Why would I do that when you're here?"
"Because then I can follow you. Like this." She nudges his foot with her own, and he reluctantly steps back, only to light up when she does in fact follow him in his retreat.
It goes on like this for quite some time, them stumbling around, holding each other close. It wouldn't win any awards at a competition (there's a flicker of a memory Echo can't place, from one of the many brains rattling around in her head: a gold trophy, proudly displayed), but it's full of heart, full of devotion, and Echo cannot help but smile.
At last, a passing handler casts them a curious glance, and Echo grimaces, stepping closer to them. "Guys? You might want to cool it on the dancing for awhile." She wants to push them, but if she pushes them too hard, too fast, they'll end up in the Attic. She'd never forgive herself if that happened.
They comply, of course, though they make no move to release each other's hands. "Thank you," Sierra says softly. "For teaching me."
And though Echo's vocabulary is miles above the usual blank Doll speak, somehow it's the simple, preprogrammed response that seems best: "Friends help each other."

Album Review: Béla Fleck - Rhapsody in Blue
Not only is George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” resilient enough to last a century, it’s also elastic enough to appear three times on a single album and not grow tiresome.
And Béla Fleck is just the man to make it work, anchoring his Rhapsody in Blue LP - a celebration of the piece’s centenary - with “Rhapsody in Blue(grass),” “Rhapsody in Blue” and “Rhapsody in Blue(s),” which clock in at 12, 19 and five minutes, respectively. The banjo man fleshes out the album with solo versions of Gershwin’s never-recorded, recently discovered “Unidentified Piece for Banjo” and the better-known “Rialto Ripples.”
Recorded with My Bluegrass Heart, “Blue(grass)” is a proverbial walk through the Appalachian Mountains as Fleck, fiddler Michael Cleveland; mandolinist Sierra Hull and her Dobro-playing husband Justin Moses; bassist Mark Schatz; and guitarist Bryan Sutton simultaneously reinterpret and preserve the piece.
Fleck then joins the Virginia Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Eric Jacobsen, aka Mr. Aoife O’Donovan, and replaces piano with banjo on a daring, and successful, bit of musical transplantation, released under its unchanged title.
Which brings us to the truncated “Blue(s),” on which Fleck, mandolinist Sam Bush, Dobro master Jerry Douglas and busy bassist Victor Wooten graft elements of “Mannish Boy” into the “Rhapsody.” It’s respectful to Gershwin’s blueprint while - like its album-mates - adding layers to the already-intricately layered piece.
Grade card: Béla Fleck - Rhapsody in Blue - A-

Maybe they have a child together (they're the only people who he is really sweet and soft with, he lights up when he sees them) and idk maybe their child wants them together too? He's trying to find excuses to see her or kiss her and he has their child as a support?

Thank you for this amazing ask. I hope you like it. Warning- Little angst and fluff.
Your hands tremble slightly as you pack your son's backpack for his weekend with Lloyd. It’s a routine exchange, one you've done countless times since the divorce, but the familiar ache always lingers.
Sharing custody of Victor is always a bittersweet affair. Every time you see him, the resemblance to his father becomes more and more apparent. His bright eyes and mischievous smile are like a living reminder of what you once had together. Yet, despite the pang in your heart, you push your feelings aside, knowing that this arrangement is for the best.
The doorbell rings, and you exhale deeply before opening it.
Lloyd stands before you, immaculate in his polo shirt and with that same cocky smirk you've come to know all too well. Despite your best efforts, your pulse quickens at the sight of him, a reaction you've tried to suppress but have never been able to completely control.
Damn that moustache! Always been your weakness.
You fix your expression, forcing a neutral smile as you step aside to let him in. You're used to this routine by now, but the sight of him still dredges up a mix of emotions you'd rather keep bottled up.
“Ready for our little guy?” he asks, his voice annoyingly smooth, like melted chocolate. Victor bolts past you, yelling, “Daddy!” as Lloyd scoops him up effortlessly, peppering his son's face with exaggerated kisses that make the boy squeal with laughter.
When your son was born, Lloyd had named him Victor, saying he's his biggest victory in life.
You force a polite smile, ignoring the way Lloyd's eyes flick to yours, softening. He always looks at you like that, like you're still the most important thing in his world, even after everything.
After Sierra Six.
The memory burns like acid. Sierra Six had been your breaking point. Lloyd's obsession with catching the rogue operative consumed him, pulling him deeper into his dangerous world and further away from you. You had begged him to walk away, to prioritize his family, but he couldn’t let it go.
“You don't understand, Sugar!” he'd said during one of your final arguments, his voice sharp but his eyes pleading. “This isn't just a mission. It's personal.”
It became personal for you too, when Six's retaliation nearly cost you and Victor your lives. A car bomb meant for Lloyd had detonated outside your home, leaving shards of glass and smoke as a grim reminder of the risk you couldn’t live with anymore. You’d left that night, taking Victor with you, and filed for divorce shortly after.
“Thanks for packing his stuff…” Lloyd says now, breaking you out of your thoughts. He hesitates, then adds, “You could come with us, you know? We're just going to the park.”
“That’s your time with him…” you reply, keeping your tone neutral.
Victor tugs at your sleeve. “But, Mommy, you should come! Daddy says he misses you.”
Your breath catches, and Lloyd clears his throat, awkwardly running a hand through his perfectly styled hair. “Victor, buddy, why don't you go grab your soccer ball from the car?”
Once Victor bounds away, Lloyd steps closer. “He’s not wrong…” he says softly, his gaze holding yours.
“Lloyd…” You start to protest, but he cuts you off.
“I know I screwed up. I know I didn’t protect you the way I should have, but I’m trying, Sugar. I’m trying to fix things. For you. For Victor. For us.”
You cross your arms, a shield against the vulnerability in his voice. “You can’t just say these things and expect everything to magically go back to how it was.”
“Then let me show you...” he says, taking another step closer. His hand brushes yours, testing waters. “Let me prove it to you.”
Before you can respond, Victor runs back, his soccer ball in hand. “I got it! Mommy, are you coming with us?”
Lloyd kneels down, pulling Victor into a side hug. “Tell you what, buddy. Why don’t we see if we can convince Mommy to join us next time, huh?”
Victor pouts dramatically, his big eyes, the same shade of blue as his father’s turns on you, “Please, Mommy? Daddy says families should stick together.”
Your heart squeezes at the sight of them, your two boys. Lloyd stands, his eyes never leaving yours, and he leans down just slightly, so close you can feel the warmth of his breath.
“Think about it…” he murmurs, before pressing a soft kiss to your cheek. It lingers, a promise in its tenderness, and leaves you standing there, your resolve crumbling ever so slightly.
As they walk away, Victor waves enthusiastically, and Lloyd throws you a smile over his shoulder. It’s cocky and hopeful all at once, like he knows the kiss wasn’t just for show.
Maybe, just maybe, he’ll find a way to win you back.
The weekend passes slowly without Victor. You spend the quiet hours tidying up, trying to distract yourself from the lingering thoughts of Lloyd’s kiss and the words he left unspoken. But no matter how hard you try, you can’t stop replaying his plea, “Let me prove it to you.”
On Sunday evening, Lloyd drops Victor off as planned. Your son runs inside, chattering about their adventures at the park, the ice cream truck they chased down, and how Daddy let him drive his tiny remote-controlled car.
Lloyd lingers at the door.
“Can I come in for a minute?” he asks. His tone is careful, cautious, as though he’s testing the waters.
You hesitate, but something about the vulnerability in his expression makes you step aside. “Just for a minute…” you say.
Victor is already in the living room, playing with his toys, oblivious to the quiet tension between you and his father.
Lloyd takes a deep breath, his hands stuffed into his pockets. “I’ve been thinking about what you said the other day. About things not magically going back to how they were.” He pauses, his gaze locking onto yours. “You’re right. They won’t. And they shouldn’t. Because I want things to be better than they were before.”
You swallow hard, your heart beating faster, “Lloyd, I…”
“Let me finish, Sugar.” His voice softens, and he steps closer, closing the distance between you. “I’m not asking you to forgive me overnight. I’m not asking you to forget what I did or the pain I caused. I just… I’m asking for a chance to show you that I’ve changed. That I’m trying to be the man you and Victor deserve.”
Tears prick at the corners of your eyes, but you hold them back. “You think one kiss and a few sweet words will fix everything?”
“No!” he says firmly. “But I think being here, every day, showing you how much I care… that might. I’m not giving up on us, Sugar. Not now, not ever.”
Before you can respond, Victor runs up to the two of you, holding a drawing in his little hands. “Look! I made this at Daddy’s house!”
The picture is messy but a clear stick-figure family of three, all holding hands. Above it, in Victor’s uneven handwriting, are the words, “My family.”
Your chest tightens, and you glance at Lloyd, whose eyes are filled with unshed tears. He kneels down to Victor’s level, gently ruffling his hair. “That’s a beautiful drawing, buddy.”
Victor grins and turns to you. “Mommy, don’t you think we should be a family again? Daddy’s been so sad without you.”
You look down at your son, then at Lloyd, who is watching you with a mixture of hope and fear.
“I don’t know, Victor,” you say softly. “It’s… complicated.”
“But you love Daddy, right?” Victor asks innocently, his big blue eyes staring up at you.
You hesitate, the truth sitting heavy on your tongue. “Yes…” you finally admit. “I do.”
Lloyd stands, his expression unreadable. “Sugar, I know I’ve made mistakes. And I’ll spend the rest of my life making up for them if you’ll let me.”
Victor tugs on your hand, his face lighting up with excitement. “Please, Mommy? Let Daddy stay.”
The weight of the moment presses down on you. Slowly, you nod, your voice barely above a whisper. “Okay. Let’s see where this goes.”
Lloyd’s eyes widen in surprise, and then a rare, genuine smile spreads across his face. “You mean it?”
“Yes,” you say, a small smile tugging at your lips. “But you’re on thin ice, Hansen.”
He chuckles, his confidence returning. “I wouldn’t have it any other way, Sugar.”
Victor cheers, throwing his arms around both of you, and for the first time in a long time, you feel a flicker of hope.
Maybe, just maybe, you can be a family again.
The days that follow are a whirlwind of emotions. Lloyd takes your cautious ‘okay’ as a challenge to prove himself, and he doesn’t waste any time.
He starts small, picking Victor up from school, helping him with homework, and showing up at your door with dinner. Each time he’s around, you find yourself torn between wanting to push him away and feeling your walls crumble a little more.
One evening, as you’re washing dishes, Lloyd appears beside you, drying a plate you hadn’t asked him to touch. “You know,” he says, his voice low and teasing, “we make a pretty good team.”
“Lloyd, I don’t need your help.” you say, trying to focus on the sink.
He leans in closer, his breath warm against your cheek. “You might not need it, but I like being here. With you.”
Your face heats up, and you elbow him gently. “Back off, Hansen.”
But instead of retreating, he grins and presses a kiss to your temple, quick and soft. You whirl on him, glaring. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Testing my limits,” he replies smugly, holding up his hands as if in surrender. “You’re adorable when you’re mad.”
You roll your eyes, but the blush on your cheeks betrays you. He notices, of course, and his grin only grows wider.
Lloyd’s efforts intensifies over the period.
Over the next few weeks, Lloyd becomes a constant presence in your life. He shows up unannounced with groceries, fixes the broken cabinet in your kitchen, and even surprises Victor with a mini soccer goal for the backyard.
One afternoon, while Victor is napping, you find yourself sitting on the porch with Lloyd. He’s unusually quiet, his gaze fixed on the horizon.
“Why are you doing all this?” you ask, breaking the silence.
He looks at you, his expression sincere. “Because I lost you once, Sugar. And I’m not making that mistake again. You and Victor… you’re everything to me.”
The raw honesty in his voice leaves you speechless. Before you can think of a response, he leans in, brushing his lips against yours. It’s soft, tentative, as if he’s giving you a chance to pull away. But you don’t.
When he deepens the kiss, his hand rests gently on your cheek, you lose yourself for a moment, the familiar warmth of him overwhelming your senses.
When you finally pull back, your heart is racing. “You’re impossible…” you mutter, your cheeks burning.
“And you’re beautiful,” he replies, his lips quirking into a lopsided smile.
Despite your reluctance to admit it, Lloyd’s persistence begins to wear down your defenses. He’s patient with Victor, kind to you, and relentless in his mission to win you back.
One night, as you’re tucking Victor into bed, he grabs your hand. “Mommy, do you still love Daddy?”
Caught off guard, you glance at Lloyd, who’s standing in the doorway, watching you with an unreadable expression.
“I…” you start, unsure of how to answer.
“I know you do,” Victor says confidently. “Because you smile more when he’s here.”
Lloyd chuckles softly, stepping into the room. “Our kid is a great observer, you can’t hide anything from him.” he teases.
“Go to sleep, Victor…” you say quickly, pressing a kiss to your son’s forehead before retreating to the living room.
Lloyd follows you, closing the door behind him. “He’s not wrong, you know,” he says quietly.
You sigh, turning to face him. “Lloyd, this isn’t easy for me. You broke my trust…”
“And I’ll spend the rest of my life earning it back!” he interrupts, stepping closer. “You’re the only woman I’ve ever loved, and I’ll fight for you every day if that’s what it takes.”
Tears well up in your eyes as you finally let the weight of his words sink in. “I’m scared…” you admit, your voice barely above a whisper.
“I know,” he whispers, cupping your face in his hands. “But I’m here, Sugar. I’m not going anywhere.”
The next morning, you wake up to the smell of pancakes. Victor’s laughter echoes from the kitchen, and when you walk in, you see Lloyd standing at the stove, flipping pancakes like he’s been doing it for years.
“Morning, Sugar,” he says, flashing you a boyish grin. “Thought I’d make breakfast for my family.”
You shake your head, but there’s no hiding the smile on your face.
Later that day, as the three of you play soccer in the backyard, Victor pauses and looks up at you. “Does this mean Daddy’s staying forever?”
You glance at Lloyd, who’s watching you with hopeful eyes. Slowly, you nod. “Yeah, buddy... I think it does.”
Victor cheers, throwing his arms around both of you. Lloyd pulls you close, pressing a kiss to your hair.
“I love you…” he murmurs, his voice thick with emotion.
And for the first time in a long time, you let yourself believe that maybe, just maybe, you could have your happy ending after all.

The Disability Library
I love books, I love literature, and I love this blog, but it's only been recently that I've really been given the option to explore disabled literature, and I hate that. When I was a kid, all I wanted was to be able to read about characters like me, and now as an adult, all I want is to be able to read a book that takes us seriously.
And so, friends, Romans, countrymen, I present, a special disability and chronic illness booklist, compiled by myself and through the contributions of wonderful members from this site!
As always, if there are any at all that you want me to add, please just say. I'm always looking for more!

"Shit. Shit. Shit-" You curse. You curse yourself, you curse the desert, the planet, everything. Why? Sandstorm. Your rover is having trouble keeping ahead of it and you’re pushing her to her limits. One of the real issues with sandstorms on the planet of Sierra-Victor-Tango versus Earth is…acid. The giant burrowing space worms that live under the dunes spit literal acid. Because of this, the sand at deeper levels is infused with that acid. So, you really, really don’t want to be out in that. The problem is, if enough of the acid sand hits the rover, it can damage it badly, and take out the glass. Then you’ll be screwed. The storm is getting worse as it travels and to stay on the road, you can’t drive straight away from it. All of a sudden, a message comes over the transceiver.
"Hey, uh, I can see you from my base. In like a kilometer take a right and then you'll be able to see it and then you can just drive straight in." A man's voice comes in, the receiver making the audio crackly from the high wind. You know about the base, but it’s private, so you don’t really know anything about it. If the guy is offering, you’ll take him up on it. You hit the button on your radio and shout over the noise, "Okay, great, thanks!" You aren’t sure if he saw you on some kind of radar or what. Right where he tells you, you take the turn and cringe at the rattling noise your rover lets off. Unfortunately, the direction he has you turn is leading you more into the path of the storm. Luckily though, you don’t have far to go. Slowing down a bit, you see the hatch to the base open just enough for your rover to fit through. As soon as your rover starts to go down the ramp into the base, the door closes, and you can hear your own thoughts again. Slowing down, you sigh in relief and stop the rover. There’s another one parked down there that’s much nicer and much bigger. You pull up and shut it off, honestly not knowing if it’ll start when you go to leave. The motor rattles as it shuts off and you have to kick the door open after you pull the handle. Slamming the door shut, you cough as a bunch of sand dust blasts back at you.
"How'd you get caught out in a sandstorm?" You recognize the voice of the guy who contacted you, actually able to hear it clearly. You step around the rover to look at him standing in the doorway that actually leads into the base. He’s…gorgeous actually. Not very tall yourself, you have no room to talk, but he is pretty short. However, he compensates for this by working out it seems because he’s thick. His black shirt is sleeveless and tight, his pants are equally as tight. He has longer wavy black hair pulled halfway back into a small ponytail. You wave to acknowledge his presence and retrieve your pack from the hatch of your vehicle and sling it onto your back. Approaching him, you get an even better look at his face. There’s a small scar over his brow ridge that left a clean cut into his eyebrow, another small scar on the opposite cheek near his jaw. A set of snakebite piercings rest under his lower lip and his eyes are red. Not like bloodshot, his irises are red. You don’t know if it’s natural or not. His ears have some ear piercings, a long pendant hanging down from the left ear with an upside-down triangle-like design. Each finger has an identical silver ring on them that probably serve some purpose.
"Thank you for letting me shelter here." You tell him, adjusting your bag on your shoulder.
"Here." He reaches for it, and you hesitate for a second but hand the large pack over, keeping your satchel with you. Motioning with his head, he goes deeper into the base, and you go up the short three metal stairs and inside, the door sliding closed behind you. You follow him down the short hallway, the metal is old and worn but more or less clean. There’s an intersection not too far down the hall, but he keeps going forward. You reach another sliding door and when he leads you in, it’s a stark contrast. Everything looks brand new, fancy, top of the line. It has a giant open living space with a large sectional couch and fancy holo-screen. There’s a giant round table to the left and there’s a decorative wall that has the kitchen on the other side. It looks like there’s another big open space behind the kitchen with a bunch of consoles and other equipment set up. On the other side of the living room there’s a large bedroom with the doors open and the hall goes in both directions past it.
"Wow…" You gape, looking around. The same logo that’s on his earring is found in multiple places around, a big hologram floating above the center of the table, printed on the glass of the decorative wall, even scored into the glass of the coffee table.
"The storm is supposed to dissipate soon, but then another big one is coming in. You can stay here through it, no one else is here. Normally my co-commander is here too but he's not right now." The man tells you and his voice brings you attention back to him. This place looks like more money was put into it than your entire hometown.
"What is this place?"
"Ever heard of the Rangers?"
"Yes?"
"This is our main base." He motions with his head again and you follow after him as he leads you down the hallway to nearly the end. The door at the end opens and he brings you to a beautiful bedroom with a sitting area, king-sized bed, and a giant bathroom behind the bed.
"I can stay here?" You gawk and he let your bag thump on the floor as he smirks.
"Yeah, no one is using it. Woozi." He holds his hand out and you nervously shake it. Even though he himself is pretty short, you’re still a good three or four inches shorter than him.
"Oh, uh, (Y/N)."
"Where are you from?" Woozi moves back out of the room, and you trot after him as he leads you back toward the kitchen.
"Morgran town." You inform. He tells you to take a seat at the counter and you jump up on the stool and he opens the ice box.
"I'm not a wonderful cook so I don't have any fancy ingredients, but I can mix all this together with some rice." He’s taken a bunch of small containers of leftovers and set them on the counter.
"Okay!" You’re starving and haven't had a normal meal in quite a while. He set up the rice cooker and you wonder if this is how homes on Terra look.
"Were you born here?" Woozi asks.
"Yes. You?"
"Nah. I was born on Pledis and moved here when I was about eighteen."
"Why?"
"The co-commander, Seungcheol, convinced me to come here with him and start our own faction of Rangers. Not only are there a lot of runaway criminals here, but a lot of people who need help in the middle of the desert." He casts you a sly look as he hits the button on the rice cooker. You laugh nervously at this, and he leans against the counter in front of you. Lord, he’s hot… The way he’s positioned, the muscles in his arm flex and his shirt spreads tight over his chest. He huffs when he notices you’re ogling him, and his hand comes to your chin. He moves your head up, so you look him in the eye again and your face explodes into a blush.
"U-uh, I…I'm-"
"Don't worry, doll." He tilts his head to the side, looking over your face, his thumb coming up to stroke your bottom lip. Woozi backs up with a smirk and you avoid his gaze, turning in your stool to get down and go near the couch.
"Your holo-screen is huge." You marvel and he moves out of the kitchen to join you, pointing for you to sit.
"Tap the table." He tells you and you see a little flashing light and press it, a holographic module popping up that works as the remote.
"Watch whatever, I have to go finish something." He tells you. You watch from the corner of your eye as he goes to the room behind the kitchen, your eyes moving down to look at his ass in those tight black pants. When he gets completely out of view you look back at the module and find a listing of movies and shows that you’ve only ever dreamed of seeing. They even have ones that are over a hundred years old! Selecting one, a movie series based off an even older set of books about elves and wizards, you sit back to watch it. There’s another button on the module that flashes, catching your attention. You tap it, and a second smaller screen pops up in the corner showing the radar of the storms coming in.
"Shit." You groan. Woozi had been right. The one you just escaped is still lingering over the area and there’s another bigger one coming right behind it. At the bottom of the corner there might have been a third one developing as well. Oh well, it could be worse than being stuck in a fancy underground base with an extremely attractive man.
It’s only about thirty minutes after you start the movie that he comes back out, the only reason you notice is because the rice cooker had gone off. Pausing the movie, you get up and go to sits at the counter, watching as he mixes everything together and your mouth waters. He leaves it all in the same big bowl, grabs two spoons, then nods for you to follow him back into the living area. You hesitantly sit down, and he sits way closer to you than you even hoped for and hands you a spoon. Glancing at him, you sit back still mostly rigid, and hit play on the movie. After you get to eating it and realize how starving you are, you soon forget that he’s so close to you. He watches in amusement as you scarf it down and you both soon finish it off.
"Thanks for letting me stay here. I looked at the radar and it looks like the storms are just going to keep coming." You groan, resting your head on the back of the couch. Your eyes are closed so he takes the chance to look you over like you had been him. The thin fabric of your shirt has ridden up some and revealed the smooth skin on your tummy and waist, tanned with a smattering of freckles from sun exposure. Your long hair is tied back in a braid, and you wear tight leggings with mesh side panels to allow for more breathability. It isn’t too often he runs into anyone, even women, who are this much smaller than him, let alone this cute. His eyes shoot back to your face, your eyes still closed, and he wonders if you’ve fallen asleep already. Woozi wants to just grab you and haul you onto his lap. Living out in the middle of the desert with only the rest of the guys in his Ranger group doesn’t give many opportunities for him to be with a woman. Now, one just happens to show up. He doesn’t want to push it, but with you how you’ve been looking at him…
"Ugh, I think I wore myself out trying to get out of that storm. The adrenaline has finally gone away it seems." You tip your head back and forth, your neck popping to relieve some pressure. He glances at his watch, and it’s pretty late. This time of year, the sun doesn’t get very low, so it’s bright nearly all of the time.
"Go sleep then. If I'm not out here when you get up, you can just grab whatever from the kitchen. I'll let you know if the storm lets up sooner." He stands up with the bowl to clean it up and he watches you trudge sleepily down the hall and into the room he’s letting you use. When you get in there, you marvel at the luxury and peel your clothes off so you can take an actual legitimate shower. The water feels like heaven, and you’re glad your spare underwear and clothes are clean. Just putting on your leggings over your panties and redoing a wrap-around breast band, you climb into the amazing bed and immediately fall asleep.
~
A loud and echoing crash startles you awake, the sound of metal crunching is the opposite of reassuring. When it happens again you jump out of the bed and run out of the room and down the hall. You assume the only room with the door closed is his and you get ready to knock, but the door just slides open. He’s sitting up at a desk across from the bed and he glances over at your panicked face.
"What the hell is that noise?"
"The metal crushing?"
"Yes!" You gape and come further into the room.
"Sand worm. We're fine." He assures you, and when it happens again, you jump so hard he gets up and goes to you.
"Hey, it's fine." He places his hands on your arms, and he feels you’re shaking.
"That's NOT a sand worm." You insist, the noise happens again but louder. Even he’s a little surprised by the volume of it and he walks past you and toward the equipment room. You follow close behind him and he types on the console and a hologram of the base pops up, a bright red flashing dot appearing the top right corner.
"Oh, great." He grunts and you look at him then back to the dot.
"What?"
"The storm must have damaged the drone silo; it seems they're all falling out of the hangar." He clicks his tongue, and you sigh in relief. Sure, that sounds expensive, but a giant monster isn’t going to break in. You’re still shaking a bit; your adrenaline had spiked again but your body is so worn out that it just wipes you out more.
"(Y/N)?"
"Yeah?" He steps closer and he’s dangerously close to you now.
"I won’t let anything happen to you, doll." He smirks, his finger coming up and brushing a lock of hair away from your face, which turns red.
"No?" You step even closer, your own hand moving to trace over the rings he has on each finger. The smirk grows and the hand you’re touching wraps around yours and he pulls you to him. Chest to chest, his other arm wraps around you, your other hand resting on his shoulder. Woozi brings your linked fingers to his lips and kisses over your knuckles, and when he reaches your thumb, he sucks it into his mouth. You exhale harshly and your free hand cups his jaw.
"How about I help you relax?" He asks, his fiery gaze meeting yours.
"Please." You whisper; his lips so close to yours now. Letting your hand go, you drop it to his other shoulder, and his strong arms engulf you, pressing you into him. Woozi seals his lips over yours and you whine, his tongue immediately swirling around yours. He tastes good, almost like some kind of soda you only have had once or twice in your life. His hands on you are hot, his body pressed to yours is hard and his kiss is consuming. When he finally pulls away from the kiss, a trail of saliva connects your lips, and you nearly slump against him. His presence is all encompassing, and your head is already swimming, he’s some kind of drug.
"Can I do something?" You ask, his lips still close to yours, your breath mingling.
"Whatever you want, doll." Woozi complies, so you pull back a bit but instead of stepping away from him, you sink to your knees. His finger comes to your chin and makes you look up at him.
"If you're going to do that, I want you to sit on my face while you do." He tells you and your eyes widen.
"O-okay." You shrug and instead of reaching his hand to help you up, he bends and scoops you into his arms and carries you to the bed. You aren’t big, but he does it so easily. Letting out an 'oof' as he drops you onto his bed, your eyes get bigger as he begins to strip. The tight black shirt comes off and you nearly drool. His body looks just as good as it feels, and you can’t wait for him to drop his pants. He undoes his belt and with an aggressive snap, he pulls it off and drops it on the floor. With a smirk, he makes eye contact with you and lets his pants fall. You’re not expecting him to have nothing on underneath and his hard cock bounces some from being released, smacking against his stomach. Your mouth waters. Stepping out of the clothes, he stalks over to you and pushes you onto your back. It isn’t hard or aggressive, more playful, and he hooks his fingers in the waist band of both your leggings and panties, then yanks them off. Woozi deftly unsnaps your breast band and throws that off you as well. Laying on his back, he pats his shoulders, and you hesitantly move to where he wants you.
"Come on, doll." He wraps his arms around your thighs and pulls your dripping cunt onto his face. You squeal, falling forward, and catching yourself on your arms. You find yourself right in front of his pretty cock and since he’s already shoving his tongue into your core, you envelope the head of his cock with your lips. Neither of you can get over how the other tastes and he grunts when you just keeps swallowing his cock deeper into your mouth and throat. His arms tighten their hold around your thighs, and he sucks on your clit. You twitch at the sensation, losing your pace and you gag on his cock. The spasming of your throat squeezes his cock deliciously and he can’t wait to fill your cunt. When he buries his tongue inside you as deep as he can, you moan again, the hand loosely holding his cock squeezing a bit and his hips jump, making you swallow him more.
"Cum, doll." He orders, nipping your clit and you do as he tells. The vibrations of your moan hits his cock, and you suck hard, setting his own orgasm off. Spurts of sticky white cum painted your throat and mouth and drips down his shaft when you can’t contain it all. Still semi-hard, you pull your mouth off of him with a pop, then lick him clean.
"You taste so good~" You coo; he’s about to tell you the same thing. Helping you dismount his face; you just roll over onto your back and flop to the bed. He smirks, sitting up and rolling you again so you’re on your stomach. He kneels behind you and lifts your hips up, making you rest on your knees. Your chest and face are still touching the mattress, and he rubs his thumb over you dripping folds, then the cold metal of his rings touches the flesh, and you shiver.
"W-what do those do anyway?" You ask.
"Wanna find out?" When he asks you turn to look at him and nod. Little blue sparks fly off of them, then a hologram-like gauntlet surrounds each hand. Suddenly, warmth spreads over your skin, and you yelp as ribbon likes tendrils shoot out from his hands and wrap around your body. It isn’t bondage, they just wrap around likes vines, over your legs and arms, your abdomen, and breasts. They’re warm and tingle and when it gets done, the end lands right above your clit.
"Oh, god." You gasp, the sensation is dull but incredibly sensual.
"What about this?" He asks and then the ribbons tighten, and this forces a moan out of you. His hands then grab the flesh of your ass, the tingling hologram on his hands leaving the same sensation as the ribbons.
"Ready?" He asks and you feel the fat head of his cock at your entrance. Your body is buzzing in so many different ways and you whine positively, and he starts to ease in. The burn of his girth fucking opens your walls heightens every other pleasurable sensation in your body and he groans at how tight you are, so wet you’re literally dripping.
"Ah~ (Y/N)…" He groans finally filling you up completely. Your head is swimming, and he simply grinds as deep into you as he can, his pelvis meeting your ass. When he doesn’t do anything more than that you whine pitifully, needing him to move more than that.
"Woozi…" You mewl and he groans.
"You're so tight, baby girl." His voice rumbles through you. You yipe when the ribbons tighten then begin to move again. You can’t see behind you, but when he groans, you feel the ribbons wrap around his cock as well and the heat intensifies, and he begins to move. His thrusts are shallow but hard, and he makes sure to roll as deep as he can with each thrust.
"Fuck, I'm not letting you go anytime soon, doll. Even if the storm lets up." He grunts with every thrust, then stops. You’re about to complain but he leans over you, his hands landing by your head, and you can see better the blue light around his hands.
"You want more?"
"Pl-please…" You huff and he pumps his hips, snapping his cock into you hard after nearly pulling out all the way. Your mouth opens to scream, but nothing comes out and tears prick your eyes at the intense feeling of him rearranging your guts. He’s fucking you like an animal, nearly growling above you, drool is leaving a dark spot near your mouth on the sheets.
"W-Woo-Woozi!" Feeling your orgasm coming fast, he leans over you more, wrapping his arms around your middle to haul you up, his chest to your back. His hands cup your breasts, and the ribbons tighten even further, and he grunts two more times, spilling inside of you, this sends you over the edge. One of his hands is on your throat, just lightly holding you in place as your entire body spasms. You orgasm fades shortly after his and your body stings, the ribbons leaving you calming the burn, and he helps you curl up in the bed. You watch the dancing patterns of the screen saver on his wall display, dazed, barely registering him moving around. When he comes back into view you slightly notice the continuing metal crunch of the drone silo, but it’s the least of your concerns.
"You know, I think the storms might last a few days…" He sits on the bed next to you, wearing a pair of boxers now.
"I hope they last the whole month," You mumble, and this makes him laugh.
"Me too, doll."

I was tagged by @memory-for-trifles for my top first-time watches in 2024 of movies not from 2024, and also by @door for my nine favorite movies of the year, which I am combining to nine non-recent releases. Thank you buddies!!
Also NOT thank you, as it seems I watched 190 new to me, pre-2024 movies last calendar year, and rated fully 45 of them five stars.
....so here is a representative nine categories (blood! tears!!), and then the whole list of older movies that fucking rule.
