jrpg/srpg recs? old or new doesn't matter, but it's easier for me to get around to games if they're older so I can load them on my psp or 3ds or whatever. in return I give you uhhhh have you played any of the department heaven games? they're more like weird srpgs, st!ng loves experimenting with their games. gungir is my favorite cause it's the most depressing (imo) and there's sibling angst
department heaven looks cute! t'will have to check it out someday :) sibling angst is always fun!
onto the recs:
jrpgs:
standard ff2 plug (20th anniversary edition is my fav personally...), the FFIV collection for the psp is complete and also the best way to play 2D FFIV (imo). of course the 3d version is also on DS so YMMV. I liked Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest for what it was, Final Fantasy Legend and its sequels are games that Exist but I didn't particularly enjoy them just because i don't like GB games. But they are out there!!
I know I'm not the kind of person to shill DB but I had a fun time with Buu's Fury on the GBA... and it's not a JRPG but if you like pressing buttons really good this might be up your alley.
Golden Sun exists, I think everyone should play Chrono Trigger if you have not already. I talked about it briefly in my last rec post but Lufia 1/2 are JRPGs that exist for sure. The Suikoden series is cool and I am itching to play Eiyuden Chronicles one day!!
Dragon Quest has handfuls of fun games, SMT of course exists as well and I am partial to Nocturne. I have never played Bravely Default but all of my friends who are into JRPGs more than I am sing of both games' praises, TWEWY exists, and for the 3DS I actually really liked Monster Hunter Stories which is nifty and very cute.
srpgs:
of course fire emblem as the SRPG probably everyone around this blog knows about. I wish I liked Tear Ring Saga more but it's not my thing personally, but if you like the kaga sagas I would recommend it! There are pretty people, so no complaining from me :P Vesteria Saga and the other games exist too. I haven't played them though, so no opinion from me! But they exist!!
OFC have to say FF Tactics, FF Tactics Advance, FF Tactics A2. I love FFTA but I know FFT is way better according to everyone. There's also Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings which people usually put as a JRPG but it's definitely not a traditional JRPG. I personally think it's very slow to control but it's not the worst game you could be spending your time playing.
People really like Tactics Ogre... I did not. There were two characters I liked but I just didn't want to sit through multiple routes - but hey, there's multiple routes if you like that stuff!
I have heard good things about both Project X Zone and Triangle Strategy, but I'm poor so I've never played either. However, I think a fun game is Summon Night 5!!! I haven't played any of the other games, but the characters are very cute and it is an SRPG so I am putting it here!
That's all off the top of my head. I have a million more I could probably recommend, but I'd be repeating myself and shilling FF2 more than I should. I hope some of these games inspire you to look for yourself! Or replay an old gem, or something :P

i only ever rarely see a complete game on roblox. every single one is incomplete in some way. some say theyre complete but they clearly arent, unfinished areas, messy graphics, clunky gameplay, numerous glitches, i can go on and on
i dont feel roblox is a platform for complete games, but projects to be abandoned. hell, have you ever seen any complete games on roblox? i’ve maybe only ever seen a few in my years of being on the platform. yet i can name so many unfinished games. loomian legacy, vesteria, the list goes on. so rarely do completed games get released complete.
so why? why is roblox chock full of wips and so devoid of complete games? i could not tell you. its probably something about the work environment and roblox’s inherent nature as a platform that encourages MMO’s and not 1-4 player games, but who am i to say a thing? i dont know anything about game design.

R15 vs Rthro
In roblox you have three options for character models, this entire system is soon to be overhauld by Avatar Evolution [Link:** ]**, entering, out of beta, mid this year.
Types:
R6 - Made up of Six Joints, the first iteration, ugly and old.
(Ripped from a Gamejam I did, featuring a custom R6 rig.)
R15 - Made up of 15 joints, nice but very roblox.
(Ripped from Vesteria, an openworld MMO.)
Rthro - Custom morphs, more realistic and customizable, limited to 15 joints.
(Ripped from Pacifico 2: Playground Town)
Custom - Custom, Custom Morphs. Limitless anything but difficult to implement, and finicky.
My Pick:
I was intending to use R15 for this but felt that I, for one, didn’t want to mimic Vesteria and second that with Avatar evolution being released so soon Rthro was just the right way to go as it allows for more scalability down the road.
This mattered to me was I intended and am comitted to treating this project as if it was a real full game, and intend to make decisions based off this. Aside scability for the future, Rthro looks a lot more realistic and allows for greater customization, player expression and immersion while challenging my skill.
Avatar Evolution:
_https://bit.ly/399WSsW | https://roblox.github.io/avatar-evolution/
For a long time roblox has supported meshs and textures coupled with a limited amount of material and cusomization options but this new update looks to bring high end tech to low end devices through roblox and is extremely exciting as a developer.
The reason I chose Roblox for my FMP aside my fondness of the engine and programming language were two things: Scalability/Support and the engine itself, how it functions dynamically for multiplayer games with free hosting.
And while this is a huge selling point for it, it’s always lacked in the visual aspect and while this isn’t too big an issue as it’s still possible to make GTA level looking graphics but you do have to make sacrifices.
New additions now out in beta, no live server:

Publisher DANGEN Entertainment and developer Vestaria Project will release Vestaria Saga Gaiden: The Sacred Sword of Silvanister for PC via Steam in English in 2022, the companies announced.
The official English release of Vestaria Saga Gaiden: The Sacred Sword of Silvanister follows that of Vestaria Saga I: The War of the Scions in late 2019.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
Vestaria Saga is a strategy RPG series where positioning, movement, and weaponry are paramount to success. Move your heavily armed units around a classically styled grid-based map and engage pirates, rebels, monsters, imperial soldiers, and anyone else that stands in your way.
While Vestaria Saga I chronicled the battles that ensued in the Solvian-Meledian War, Vestaria Saga Gaiden focuses on the further adventures of Zade, the hero from Vestaria Saga I, bringing the tales of him and his companions to a thrilling, satisfying end. Across his epic quest, Zade will encounter allies both new and old while also uncovering more of the mysteries behind the vile Margulites and their plan to plunge Vestaria into a new age of darkness.
Story
After a ship carrying a Solvian imperial diplomat was mistakenly set ablaze in Meledian waters, the Solvian Emperor Manneus declared war on the island kingdom. Led by the famed general Ajax, Solvia’s imperial forces soon invaded Meledian shores. Once Meleda suffered a critical defeat in the Battle of Frist, the Empire quickly swooped in to seize the royal capital of Regina. Crushed beyond any hope of recovery, Meleda was forced to watch its invaders brutally wipe 500 years of history right off the face of the map. And so, one year passed… Once thought to have gone missing, the young princess Athol miraculously returned to the royal capital and freed its people through a furious battle.
The one who fought valiantly by her side and helped lead her to victory was none other than Zadrian, the young heir to Redessa. Meleda praised Zadrian as a national hero, showering him with fame and glory that far exceeded what they had once shown his elder brother Zecharias, the kingdom’s finest knight. Zech was not only engaged to the princess, he was also the acting commander of the Meledian army… And most importantly, he was Zade’s big brother– the man who Zade loved and respected more than anyone else. Feeling like his very presence had become a stain on his dear brother’s reputation, Zade decided to leave the capital and set off on a new journey to the Temenos of Vesta. He took with him on his quest only a single traveling companion: Accorte Roland, a student of Sphire’s magic academy and the daughter of a man who once saved Zade’s life…

My Mock Up
Background is from a map made previous to the project as some concepts for Alterdrift.
Leaderboard/Stats made from hand today (12/03/2020) using symbols from Black Ops 3 and colouring’s from Black Ops 3 and Vesteria.
Hotbar ripped from an early version of Vesteria which I just loved but was sadly removed. Very difficult to find.
Improvements to the Leaderstats were suggested by Sam Gibbs and Sam Read (Tutor) as the Leaderboard stood out too much so after using alpha channels and masking I reduced the opacity (wasn’t a simple process as it had more than one level with the gold stretching box behind).
Another issue I discussed and crafted a fix for was long usernames, i’ve decided after some debate, to limit it to eight char and add ‘...’ to any shortened versions.
