It wasn't surprising that Rumi caught the woman's attention; her attire was perhaps equally as salacious and provocative as it was elegant or classy in its cut. The brilliant, glittering red of her dress was anything but subtle, and she probably looked more like entertainment than a guest.

Her behavior, however, suggested exactly the opposite. She seemed to be in no rush to engage with anyone else present, for one thing. For another, while her dress showed a lot of skin, below it was plainly powerful muscle. It was easy to see that messing with her was likely unwise, and thus nobody much seemed to want to bother her.

She didn't quite notice the look she was given though, being busy with securing her own supply of champagne from a waiter. "Come on, don't be stingy!" she chastised, before her hands jetted forward over his tray.

They withdrew bearing four flutes of bubbly: two between thumbs and forefingers, and two between pinkie and ring fingers. She had a big grin on her face at that, and was about to take a sip from one when she caught sight of her fellow dour guest immediately beside her... and the woman's older attendant—whom she eyed suspiciously for a second.

"Oh! Heyyy~! Fancy seeing you here!" she began, as though she knew the woman and always had. Without missing a beat, she peered at the singular empty champagne glass of theirs a little sadly. "That's all they gave you? I swear these guys are worthless..." Her left hand extended to offer the two flutes therein, while she expertly used her right to shotgun both the other two at once, then dispensed with those glasses on a passing waiter's tray.

She'd instantly gotten rid of all four!

That grin promptly returned to her face. "Have those to put some pep in your step, then we can go freshen up real quick and get some more; stuff's the only thing making this place bearable!"

It's been months since Neo has been around here, perhaps longer? She couldn't tell.

The same way she appeared in this world, she disappeared. Her small adventure in the Ever After possibly only made it worse for herself, but at the very least, she had time to reflect on what happened.

And now that she was ready to go back to Remnant...she ended in a place that wasn't Remnant.

The now half-beast stood all alone in the middle of an alley, groaning to herself and adjusting her top hat before looking up.

...she sure needed a break.

The head tilt is mimicked before he wrings his hands against his own shirt for a long moment. Clearing his throat, he gives an awkward glance over before daring to step closer. Upon getting closer, it should be noted he seems to be carrying a bag, with a very iconic mask peeking out and his throat has scarring as well.

With a more rough muttering, he speaks.

"Didn't you... Die?"

He had come, a thief in the night, no title or fanfare to harken his coming nor to leave in his wake. Already, the glory of the silver demon of Wutai was foreordained to eclipse him, try as he might to challenge it. He had come, slipping beyond enemy lines and into the heart of Wutai, where no one would come if he had been caught, but no one suspected it either. Afterall, there was no man in their right mind that would willingly steal an innocent child in the stronghold of their enemy. But Genesis had done just that. Of the touted Uchiha clan whose members had been a thorn in his side, he had taken a fledging from the nest, Sasuke, by name.

It gave Genesis no pleasure, but such decisions were not his to make. The Director of SOLDIER was a shrewd man, and knew an opportunity when he saw it, and he knew that Genesis had all the reason to follow through. Prisoners of war was a political hot topic which ShinRa felt immense pressure. By taking an esteemed hostage, the Director was able to leverage a deal, Uchiha Sasuke in return for an intel operations squad on Team Bravo; Genesis' men. Negotiations, however, were expected to draw out. Wutai was enraged by such a low and dirty blow, and their pride was wounded. And now, here at the afixed neutral ground, officials were in deep discussion in a massive tent, the heat of the muggy day sapping strength from all who were stationed, native and invading forces alike.

Only Genesis stood impervious to the relentless heat. A good day for negotiations, purposeful, considering his limitations. As a fabled pyromancer whose innate magic set him to be something of a wonder, having such intrigal tangling had consequences. It gave a whole other meaning to 'fair weather soldier'.

Glancing down at his bound prisoner, Genesis frowned. The kid was wilting, even in his facade of stoicism, eyes puffy and raw from the whole ordeal. Maybr, if it had been any other prisoner, another kid, even, Genesis would not have felt the pity and discontent he did now. But naturally, this one had to be the younger brother of his greatest rival on the field. Uchiha, Itachi. Armed with the divine patron Leviathin's favor and a host of versatile technique that even now Genesis pined to reproduce, a certain respect had been generated for his foe. Stealing his brother just looked like an overcompensation.

And Genesis hated that. He hated the thought that his rival would likely consider this underhanded tactic as something personal, something... something... truly telling of an inferior being. Something he refused to be.

"You, drink this." Genesis ordered the boy in his native tongue, taking a knee and bringing his canteen to the other's lips. When Sasuke expectedly refused, Genesis chastised him. "Your brother will be arriving here shortly with the hostages. Be my guest if you want to be looking like a mess."

The threat, while faux, was trickery enough for him to tilt back his head and gulp down a hefty share of liquid, excess driveling into the dirt below.

All Darkness

a starter for @vxmpirehunterd Ever since the moment he had been born into this troublesome, unfair world, Genesis had been marked for misfortune. In his youth, he was bright and adored; a rich landowner’s son set to be married off to some noble’s daughter. And now, look at him, lazing back on a stool behind a counter, book at hand, ‘merchandise’ ready for sale on the shelves behind him. There were eyes of newts and livers of cats, umbra mushrooms grown under the un-light of an eclipse. Artifacts, enchanted and enchantable, curses for sale. There were all sorts of needs in this wicked, wicked world. For Genesis, it was to scratch that itch. Layer by layer until something new oozed up. 

Son, it is a waste of your mind to pursue such filth. Look to the vampires, how they have rotted this earth with such vileness. All darkness always comes from the same places. 

Genesis softly smiled and turned the page. Ironic, how right his father was. And he took that righteousness to the grave with him. 

Today, however, was an auspicious one, one that had Genesis skip over the lines of manuscript, rush through the passages and dark symbols as though if he could just get to the end, the anticipation would be over. Barbarois could not be that large. Did the dhampir get lost? Surely not. Maybe the allure of the bounty was not set high enough. So, when the little bell chimed at the front door to alert him of a customer, he sucked in a breath to swallow down his eagerness. Just another wayward soul looking for a cure most likely. 

“Welcome,” Genesis hummed pleasantly, quite a stark contrast from the dark and grotesque paraphernalia surrounding him.  “If you make it quick I can help you, but I’m waiting for someone.”

Welcome to the reverse verse! This is part 1 of 2 of a commission for @i-am-as-normal-as-you-are and I can't wait to tell you all about it, because I'm incapable of being normal and chill about these concepts, so I ran with it.

Charles Rowland was born in 1900, his mum was from India and moved to the UK after marrying Charles' dad, a soldier who was not... very loving. Charles' heritage gave him some problems, but none as bad as that one time in 1916 when he was sacrificed to a demon and spent the next 7 decades in Hell. He doesn't like to talk about it, except when it can get him what he wants. He was always an angry boy, or so he thought, but after his time spent in Hell, it became so much worse. He's explosive and unpredictable, and so he mostly avoids conflict. He doesn't need to fight anyone, as his charming personality and sweet smile (plus a few smart calculations) always seem to be enough to convince people to give him what he asks for. And when the fight is inevitable... well, he has Edwin for that!

Edwin Payne grew up very sheltered, in a deeply religious home, and he is proud of that. Don't try to argue with him, because he surely has a Bible verse that will help him win (and if not, he is not above using his croquet mallet now that he has someone to keep safe). Unfortunately for him, he realized at a quite young age that he felt attraction towards other boys. Even worse, somehow other people could tell as well, including those peers that ended up killing him for it (the rumour spread throughout school was that he had died due to AIDS, and most people just accepted it). He never acted on those unnatural urges of his, but when he met this ghost who had just escaped Hell... he decided not to risk eternal damnation, and to stay here with Charles, instead. Edwin has no interest in the supernatural or in magic, and sort of looks down on them, but luckily his friend's got that covered.
