No because I’m thinking again about how little care the cast has had for the NPCs this season. It’s even worse when it comes to the parents because the entire basis of the show is that it’s about family. I’m glad hypfix hasn’t blinded me to being critical of this show because when I really think about it, s2 could’ve been handled a lot better.

I’ll talk specifically about Rebecca and how even one of the players said she was the best choice to die. And I agree, but only for the reason that she’s the only spouse who’s actually *done* anything. We’ve maybe had a scene with Veronica once (and over the PHONE), Cassandra was shoved into a plotline to make Willy have an upper hand, and the one time they were with Marco was when someone got killed in his house. And Attack on Titanic does not count to me, sorry. Rebecca didn’t do much either, but she was there all throughout ep31-32 so that’s *something*. We got to actually interact with her. She had some kind of impact on the story. So to me she was the best choice to die in that it would be pointless to kill Terry again, killing another kiddad this late in the game would feel cheap, and killing one of the other kiddad spouses would be nothing. And if Scary’s bio dad had been the one to die that would feel even cheaper. Genuinely why the hell is he even here. I'm worried about what will possibly happen with him next episode, I really would've rather us never meet him at all.

I could also write pages on the disrespect that’s been given to Hermie but it’s all stuff that’s been said before. The constant “is this the new Paeden?” “I think we found our new Paeden” about anyone but Hermie when Hermie’s done worlds more than Paeden ever did.

I’ll stop myself from ranting here but yeah. I really hope they treat the NPCs with more care next season. That being said I'm excited for the finale, but only so they can let these characters go and move on.

Not that often actually

Here is one specific case that I remember, that I already mentioned in question 6

There also was time when Veronica went to frenzy in the art gallery, she was about to drink all the blood from the guy , thankfully her friend toreador (actually tzimiche but shhh thats a secret) Jacqueline (played by @tench-art ) was nearby and she punched her, trying to snap her out of it! It didn't help and Veronica started to get her protean claws out, which definitely would break the masquerade! And so Jacqueline jumped on Veronica and both of them broke the window and fell out(it wasnt too high). So for the people in the gallery it seemed like some chick started a fight with other chick and then they fell out of the window! Pretty nuts still but thankfully nothing masquerade breaking

Idk if there were other cases, probably not

One time she helped cover up masquerade breach caused by his friend malkavian Charlie tho. It happened in the club so there were lot of witnesses, I think Veronica were distracting them with her awe

I think if you want more details about this specific case, you could ask @osatokun (Charlie is her character) because it happened during the game session, and i wasn't there, so Veronica was like an npc there, so I don't remember all the details as clearly

38. Do they care about the taste of blood?

Not very much? Idk if she has specific preferences in tastes

She does have a rule that she wouldn't drink children's blood, its a point in her "flaws" on her character sheet

Blood from packs tastes worse than fresh blood from human but it doesn't bother her much

She does not like how animal blood tastes at all but she can still drink it, I think i wrote about it here

because i have a lot of headcanons to do with the kiddads given they are npcs that we dont tend to get much information on, especially in season 2, heres a shit load more! a lot of these are sad because these guys make me sad

- Sparrow starts wearing glasses in Middle School a little after they get back from Faerun, Terry Jr. starts wearing glasses when he gets to his 30's, and Grant started wearing glasses when he was in Elementary school

- When Nicholas starts to remember stuff from the Nick timeline, (basically 'becoming' Nicky if you will) scars he'd gotten from stuff in that timeline start showing up on his body, notably one is a burn scar on one of his hands from him spilling acid on it in s1 ep 34

- Lark has very scarred hands from when he was buried in the rubble in Neverwinter, though his mobility stayed relatively the same because of how quickly the wounds were healed, there was a lot of left behind scar tissue

- Sparrow has a scar across his mouth from when he was latched onto Boreanaz by his teeth when the pyramid fell

- Grant takes video games way too seriously and has in fact made his friends cry over it (Most specifically Sparrow and TJ)

- Terry didn't tell any of the other kiddads how he was going to die, just that he knew how

- Terry also knew Grant was going to be the one to kill him, but he never mentioned it, Grant was very confused on why all of a sudden TJ was becoming distant

- And he found out how he was going to die before he met Veronica, so when he met Scary he almost debated not marrying Veronica, not because he thought it would prevent his death but because he wanted to spare Scary of that pain

- Lark is incredibly confused like half the time (with basically anything) and to cover it up he usually acts stoic and tough

- Nicky is the type of person to do anything if someone phrases it like "bet you wont do *insert thing here*" no matter what it is

- Sparrow has a ton of tattoos that Nicky did for him

- Lark is colorblind but hasn't told anyone because he's too embarrassed to admit it

- For Grant and Marco's one year anniversary the kiddads all got them Titanic themed gifts, (Nicky got them sixteen dvd copies of the movie, they dont own a dvd player)

- Terry was Nicky's best man at his wedding, and Nicky was going to be Terry's best man but the betrayal happened before Terry even met Veronica,

- to add onto the angst none of the kiddads attended the wedding because it was after code purple and after they'd decided not to be involved in eachother's personal lives outside of D.A.D.D.I.E.S.

- to make this at least a little funny Veronica just doesn't think Terry has any friends-

- On the topic of weddings, Lark got so drunk at Sparrow's wedding that for his best man speech he just started reciting the Declaration of Independence (he opened the wrong tab on his phone and didnt notice)

- Grant has claustrophobia (from being inside the chimera)

- Lark used to be way better at pretending to be Sparrow but now he lacks too much spirit and gives up way too quickly for it to be convincing to most people

- Terry Jr. is extremely gullible and is usually the one Nicky would prank and trick the most just because literally everything works on him

- Nicky activated the sprinkler system at D.A.D.D.I.E.S. so much they took it out

- Terry used to talk to Jerry the Whale like he was his therapist

- Nicky would take a bunch of polaroids of the other kiddads all the time, he kept a photo album at his desk at D.A.D.D.I.E.S., it still sits there because none of the kiddads had the heart to clean it out

- Terry had beef with Darryl for a while as a teenager, for literally no reason (it was probably because he still had a lot of emotions and didn't no where to put them so he decided to just hate on his friend's dad)

New Orleans chronicle [long post]

Post for the people who comes in my blog and wondering who are the characters I constantly draw (and will go on drawing).

All of them - PC and NPCS from the Vampire the Masquerade games I play. Most of them from the longest game I had with friends, with its ups and downs the game lasted almost 2 years. here is the main player crew:

Charles Arthur Drinkwater (real name Benjamin Thomas Fox) -242 years old Scottish Malkavian, personal little mew mew of the local Harpy, surgeon since he was 20, and consultant in the weirdest occult questions. I played him, he was my first serious male character and it was very interesting experience. Dakota Salmon (real name Numpai) - 200 something something (230? 240?) years old Gangrel. She was primogen of the local Gangrels until the entire clan was exiled from the city. Highly respected by the clan, strong woman with cold logic and warm heart. She came back to the New Orleans in hopes to return gangrels their place in the city. She was played by @fj0rge Veronica Sugar (real name Veronica ) - a 100 something something years old Toreador, part of the coterie Charlie is in. A singer and vampire with the most high rating of humanity in the city. Crazy enough to get into Charlie's adventures and support him. She was played by @maria-ruta

Some of the names were taken form the New Orleans by Night book, but the characters are totally different. Plus our DM added just about every splat in the game. The game was set in 2022. From the foundation of the New Orleans it was ruled by Etienne Doran, Ventrue who always dreamed of making New Orleans the new Carthage. He drove the mages away from the city, united with local werewolves and in generally kept piece New Orleans (most of the time). However he was murdered in 1997 by unknown Gangrel, the entire clan was exiled, but no one ever found the assassin. Some of the names were taken form the New Orleans by Night book, but the characters are totally different. The game was set in 2022. Since then New Orleans was ruled by princess Marceline, supported by local harpy, adopted Etienne's childe, Rene. Rene is also one of the reason Charlie traveled to the New Orleans. They did their best, but no one had the charm of Etienne, who could stop the war with a single smile

Now, to the main plot of the game (oh I'll try to be short) The main conflict is set around the prophecies of the future where masquerade will fall and the vampires (and werewolves) become part of the human society. Think True Blood style. Technocratic union mages,led by Eureka Jones returns in the city. As we learned much later,her department is trying to bring the project of integrating vampires into society to life. If her project fails, the future of vampires going to be..very sad. Charlie knew about this possible future from the very start which scared him a ton, but he could not ignore how much technocrats made to the people. And Rene, a true son of his sire, collaborated with mages for the future that he(and Etienne) always wanted. Eureka is magnificent but I have to finish her still..

In the same time, the Sabbat pack lead by Sascha Vykos, comes to the New Orleans. He knows about the future of vampires, but wants to play the main role himself. To ruin Technocrats he aims to find Traitor, the mysterious figure who collaborate with mages in their experiments. Dakota returns to the city to help fight with Sabbat (and possibly return Gangrels their place in the city) AND (like Sabbat war is not enough) the mysterious Gangrel courier named Mohammed arrives to the city, carrying a small suitcase. With the ancient vampire head in it. Living head. As we learned later, the head is imprisoned by the angel Gangrel named Enkidu, the angel constantly chops Gangrel's head somewhere in umbra, not letting him to heal. Both Enkidu and Angel leads courier to the unknown destination, when one courier dies, the other is chosen to continue his journey. The existence of the head was kept in secret until the end of the game (not surprising Charlie knew this secret tho..),but Sascha knew about it and wanted to get the head to help him find the Traitor.(and, well, diablerise later as a treat) Mohammed and Dakota (he quickly grew on her and they kept their loving relationships even after the game ended)

Long story short-the Traitor was Ada, Gangrel who killed and diablerised Etienne. Their souls willingly united and the developed a plan to bring new future to the vampires. In the end, Vykos pack was slain by Dakota, Ada, werewolf leader(poor lad died), Gangrels and one particularly charming Nosferatu. Gangrels was allowed to get back in the city, however Dakota and Mohammed (and Yaropolk) left to Russia, as they were sick of Camarilia and mages. However no one can deny that Gangrels led by Dakota played the biggest part in saving the city. What's Charlie's role you might ask? And where is his charming wife? Well, from the very beginning DM hooked me with a dream. Charlie saw a changeling in his nightmares, who asked him for help. And so, his personal storyline began. Of course he assisted other characters when he could, but his mine line is based around saving changeling. No one cares about them. They have no place in Technocrat's future, but now they are his family. He tried to find and then heal the changeling from his dream, who turned out to be young Balor princess, Monica. Her soul was stolen by the Settite leader(one of the two),mysterious Imhotep, who rumored to be Giovanni. Later Charlie learned that he's an actual mummy, which didn't stop him to awkwardly mess with the ancient creature. And poor Monica was in coma for the last 3 years, but thanks to her ability to travel through dreams she could try to seek help

While looking for changelings to find the one who called him, he met Glinda, the cursed Balor ex queen, imprisoned by other changeling house, Beaumayn in 1999th. Her changeling self fell asleep and she was guarded by a chimerical Dragon (who could take human form ),who acted like her abusive husband. While trying to learn who Glinda is, Charlie looked into her soul and immediately fell in love for the rest of his life. During the game they even ended up getting True Love merit Q_Q

A little backstory: as a teenage changeling queen Glinda saw the prophetic dreams about the end of the changelings. When she looked for the way to save her people, he was talked by Pentex and Nephandi into bringing a little apocalypse. Using the energy of the Red Star they'd bring a strong old spirit into the world, put it into Glinda's body and let her give birth to a new changeling-spirit creature, that will destroy the half of human population. Since Changelings get their powers from the dreams and fantasy, they will become stronger, because people will start dreaming more, hoping more, believing in magic and stuff. In fact a naive teen was talked into rape. The other house, Beumayn, freed Glinda's chimera, the Dragon, and burnt her in the chimerical flame, trying to kill her changeling soul and the spirit inside her. However, the spirit escaped to the Umbra and the connection with him helped Glinda survive. He forgot who she was, and the Dragon became her jailer, acting like her over controlling husband. However, the spirit creature lived and gained power with time, wanting to fulfill it's purpose and destroy the world.

During the game, Charlie found Monica, traveled into Umbra to the gates of Arcadia to get the healing for changelings and another Imhotep's victim. Healed them all, fought the Dragon on the Changeling court and freed a demon named Folly. With the help of the demon he turned Dragon into a simple human and won, freeing Glinda. The demon escaped in Europe and was out of the scene most of the time, but kept reminding Charlie about himself in many ways. Charlie learned that Monica's father was killed by her own mother, Imhotep's cultist, and adopted young Changeling. He also introduced her to a werewolf of the same age, Joshua, wanting her to have day-walking loyal friends wo she won't be alone. Later on they started dating, and in return Monica tried her best to represent Charlie to Gilnda in the best way possible. Glinda, Charlie and Monica quickly started to live together, Charlie tried to keep peaceful relationships between changelings and vampires/mages (or better say not making it worse).In the end, mages, vampires and Glinda united to destroy the old spirit without harming changeling. And Charlie, Glinda and their newly created chimera Jeff (who they consider to be their son) located Imhotep. Stole his power jars (I'm too tired to phrase it not in a silly way, but think of Baldur's Gate 3 quest with a mummy), destroyed most of them and watched Imhotep's army of ghosts destroying his body. Charlie offered the fame for killing Imhotep to another Settite leader, Manon, and in return she joined the ritual of the spirit's killing. Charlie knew that mummies are immortal, sooner or later he will come back, so he and Glinda dedicated their lives to the searching of the way to permanently trap Imhotep's soul and prevent him from stealing lives again. They lived +/- 6 more years in New Orleans (but traveled a lot), and then left to Egypt. Glinda stopped aging, gaining a lot of energy from their constant adventures and, possibly, connection with her true love. Monica, however, lived normal human life, forgetting she was a changeling once. She married Joshua and became a writer under the nickname Little Spider. Charlie made sure to collect savings for her, got her home, and the old Monica's home became a freehold for the new Balors. Ofcourse A LOT things happened in the game. And Charlie's story goes beyond one game, he have a lot of adventures in my imagination. But I hope that's enough..for the start! Some of the characters I managed to draw. I was so charmed by Glinda I just draw her most of the time haha

Thoughts that occurred during the first 9 hours of playing Dragon Quest XI so far:

"Dawwww. Just look at those little guys (slimes). They're adorable! ... Not for long anymore."

"Let. Me. Jump. Off. That. CLIFF!"

"Why is it so difficult to fight a cloud with a sword? ... I think I just answered my own question. Magic it is then."

"I've played way too much Zelda. I keep calling those little goblin guys (Grublin?) 'Bokoblins'."

"The developers must have been really hungry. With so many food themed enemies."

"Why did that random npc think it important to tell me that there's someone in the dungeons? How is that related to me?" (5 minutes later) "Oooooh."

"Hey King guy. I think you've got that causality thing between the Luminary and the bad guy a bit backwards. Also I think you gave me whiplash with that sudden change in tone."

"'Investigate'? What an interesting wording. They'll destroy the village, won't they?"

"Why hello there, stranger (Erik) within talking range. What a nice coincidence to meet you at a place like this (dungeons). Do you come here often?"

"Well what do you say to that. A dragon. Like two or so hours into the game. They are really not wasting any time, do they? Am I supposed to fight that thing?!"

(trying to get to Derk) (lots of cussing while trying to jump from the church to the top of the wall) "Why don't you jump when I press the button?! Why did they put platforming into a game that is clearly not laid out for that?! Oh. There's a rope. Never mind."

(get cat off the roof quest) "HOW THE F DO I GET ONTO THAT ROOF?! Oh look. A ladder."

(After the title cutscene) "So we're gonna turn a tree into a dragon? Is that what we're doing? Okay. Makes sense. I guess."

"Who left that dog all alone? Where is the owner? And for how long has the poor animal been alone anyway?"

(To the woodcutter) "Who's a good boy? Who's a really good pupper? You are! Yes you ar- Oh! You're a person. Oops. Awkward."

"Knock-off Friezer is hiding in that chest, right?"

(a couple hours after the dungeon cutscene) "Oh. Looks like they didn't destroy the village after all. Wait. Why does no one recognize the hero? Why does his mom kick him out? BABY GEMMA? What? Past? What? How did that happen? When did that happen? ... Oh look. There's the destroyed village. Okay guys, everything's alright. We're back on track."

"Just one question. What happened to the people? There's no way that blonde guy (Jasper) would think it fair or justified to kill dozens of innocent civilians, for something they have essentially nothing to do with. Right?"

(Surprise bossfight-cutscene!) Do I get to heal up before the fight starts? I'm both out of hp and mp. No? Well, screw you too."

"What do you mean the last save was more than an hour ago?! I HAVE TO REDO ALL OF THAT CRAP?! Wait. The chests are still opened. The cutscenes are done. The key items are in my inventory. Thank goodness, I just need to walk back to where I was. DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT!"

(glaring at Hendrick chasing Hero and Erik) "I hate you and everything your 'brainless soldier, incapable of thinking for themselves' stereotype stands for."

"This little girl (Veronica) sounds and talks like an adult! ... She's an adult, isn't she?" (later) "Called it!"

"Alright. And now everything's in 2D suddenly (Tickington). Takes a bit getting used to. But damn this is pretty. Definitely gonna have to replay this game in 2D at some point. Also because I'm really curious how they would work around those sections that would not translate well into 2D."

i’m terrible at communication oopsie but if you guys rlly wanna know what kinda stuff i’d be interested in writing plot-wise, + some of wolf’s alignment i slapped together some barebones stuff with craft glue: 

some things i would like to see:

more found family. i think it would be nice for wolf to be a sort of mentor figure / someone to lean on for another muse. 

platonic stuff in general. i rlly love romantic shipping a lot, but sometimes i just want wolf to have a friend to hang out with. this would be easiest with people of similar backgrounds (soldier types, medical personnel, ncr) but this is open to anyone. (courier wolf is very friend shaped. ranger wolf bites i cannot lie.) 

enemies to friends????? (or lovers if that’s your speed.) 

or even friends to enemies 😏

scenarios: wolf patching people up. wolf displaying his history knowledge. wolf being very protective of your muse. wolf being protected for once (he might fall in love with ur muse tho.) your muse crying on wolf’s shoulder. wolf opening up to your muse. wolf bonding with someone over lost loved ones. wolf caring for a sick muse. wolf and your muse having each other’s back in a fight.

fnv wolf would be best aligned with the followers of the apocalypse & ncr. 

fo4 wolf would be best aligned with the minutemen & railroad.

Hi this is months late i am so so sorry but um. Rambly and in no particular order

Benny. He's like god he's such a cringe little guy but he thinks he's so fucking cool. Literally has some of the best and worst lines in the game. He's just very silly and one of the guys of all time. I want to study him like a bug. He's got like every disease and every single one of them is represented in his dialogue. He will just get silly with it at every opportunity. I can't even get into his character other than he's very silly and honestly very pitiful and i love him a lot

Veronica Santangelo oh my god. She's like ohhh she's so cool. She's this really really smart and strong lady and she's my girl best friend and i love her so much. She's got this one quest where u get her this pretty dress and the voice acting when she gets it is so so 🥺 to me. She's so well written i love her so much. She's gotten me killed 1 billion times as my companion tho (her weapon is a big fist basically and i fight p close combat so it's better to have a guy from far away over anything else but she just ends up getting TOO silly i love her tho)

Dean domino. I love when guys are so fucked up. He's also got the same category as Benny as they just let this man say things. He's one of the best parts of the dead money dlc (which scared me so fucking bad but it was worth it for the everyone 👍) it's been probably a year or so since i played dead money but he's very silly and a really good part of it 👍

HOW COULD I FORGET. My best friend victor. He's a little robot guy and he saves u and he's got a lil cowboy voice and he's everything. He's so swag....

I love the kings which isn't like i guess a single npc but the entire group is fun. You get forced to listen to horrid Elvis impersonations and u get rex who is the king (leader of the kings. It's complicated kinda idk I'm tired 👍)s dog and he's literally so so good and u gotta get him a new brain bc the king literally loves him so much that he wants to do anything for him to stay alive and 👍

ARCADE GANNON. Literally u do not understand he's the guy ever. He's so so smart and so silly and he looks so cute in his glasses and he LOVES when i kill Caesar (i take him with me when I kill the legion when i do 👍 it's enrichment for him i think) he's just like such a good guy and idk i like him a lot i think he's neatso

Cass. God literally women of all fucking time i love her. I don't even have things to say about her but she's so so so cool and i love when women r silly and mean

Ulysses just bc man. He's so so good and idk he's so cryptic and it's SO good. I need to replay lonesome road one day to properly appreciate him but i have v fond memories of him 👍

OH AND. One last robot for the road but if i think Abt ed-e (also from the lonesome road dlc) too long I'll cry and throw up. But literally just a little guy and the way they convey his emotions and story through just beeps. It's so fucking good my god.

and i... don’t exactly have a list for npcs, i’ve just got em all floating around in my head, like bo and plasse (they scam everyone out of their money, #couplegoals), kadas (alta’s childhood best friend reuniting after [incident], gay tension inbound), shiir the shiir (what’s a shiir? wouldn’t you like to know), felix liongold (the totally legit and real rich guy who’s absolutely not just a bastard in a suit), cygnid and trifid (the fox twins that are years apart in age), and last but not least the previous world-saving hero party that might be causing the end of the world atm (oopsies!)

So, I’ve been playing D&D since 2014ish(?), and as one could guess I have created a lot of characters since then. I also love getting art of them (something I didn’t start doing until 2018/2019) as well as notable NPCs and villains. So, I’m going to post the art and talk about the characters because why not? Let’s talk about my gunslinger Kate, not my favorite but still second as well as my longest running character (3.5-4 years I believe?).

Anyway, this lovely piece drawn by my friend Veronica (ArtStation in the link) is of my high elf gunslinger Kate. Quick description of the character since this is more of a discussion of the thought process of the character:

Katelyn Evelyn Sulyvahn Van Doren was born to the Van Dorens, a noble house run by a fair family and mostly beloved by their people. When she was 60, her family were overthrown by rebels and killed off mostly. The only survivors of this massacre were her, and unknown to Kate her older sister. The people who overthrew her family enacted an old punishment so cruel most people thought it was an urban myth (more to come on that since I want to make sure I TW that section). Eventually she was freed by a man named Oberon who took her under his wing as a bounty hunter as he showed her new weapons he had stolen/replicated, guns.

She suffered through intense PTSD and it was only through Oberon she was able to go from unfunctional to functioning somewhat. A ten year process that would have felt like a flash of time for someone who would be as long lived as Kate. She wanted to kill her tormentors, but not out of a sense of vengeance. She wanted to be able to sleep at night without worry they would bring her back to these people. Eventually, Kate would meet up with the party and travel with them after a scuffle landed Oberon in hot water so they had to travel separately. Thus began her adventure…

From this point onwards I will discuss the making of her character as well as potentially upsetting things. For those in need: trigger warnings of torture, body image issues, and mental illness. You have been warned.

When I designed Kate I knew that there would be some comparison to a much more famous gunslinger, Percy from Critical Role. I’d be lying if some of his story beats didn’t form the base of this character. It’s only natural, but the key was to have the same beats differently. Percy is a character driven by vengeance that threatens to consume him. Kate I wanted to make a character that needed to kill some of these people to be left alone. Kate never really wanted vengeance but these people who tormented her were extremely present and powerful in the setting. With the main one she interacted with being one of the major antagonists of the last arc. She could not just let them be, they would always come to find her unless she could prove that was a bad idea or just remove the ones who would hunt her most of all.

This is a character colored by her traumatic past, and while I did try to include things in that made her a character versus a pizza cutter (jury is out if I did that or not) it informed a lot of her attributes so that she was only her traumatic past. When creating this character, I included a lot of little details that tried to show a softer side to this character that might not be readily apparent. A love of oranges, a desire to still be able wear dresses, finding an owl familiar she named Jareth, and eventually taking up guitar. She couldn’t be all trauma or else that would just make for a poor character.

We do need to talk about the source of her trauma if we want to discuss the character overall. During the 30 years her captors kept her imprisoned they were merciless in how they tormented her. I do not want to go into details, since outside of the DM as well as one player, I didn’t not super disclose those details to the party since I didn’t think it was needed because it was always way scarier to have them guess and also I did not think she was a character who would want it brought up. All the party knew was she was covered from her neck down in scars and magical chain tattoos that no one until one Yuan-Ti shaman later could remove as well as she been tortured by these people. The chains were the most concerning and distressing to her as they were a constant reminder of the fact that she never would be truly free of them. In the same way, I often had her in pain for long treks or needing to lean on things to rest when she had to exert herself often. The weather playing havoc when the pressure dropped and her body was in constant pain as a result.

The body scarring and tattoos did come from a slightly personal place, body image. I have a lot of them, and this sort of informed the character. Both Kate and I wear a lot of clothes to hide our skin so people can’t see it. Albeit for different reasons (her’s are the result of intensive torment), a part of her journey was slowly becoming more at peace with what she was dealing with as she looked for a way to fix the damage done to her. To at least not be freaked out whenever her clothes ripped or anyone saw her old wounds. This played a part of a person who was sort of hampered by pain that eventually managed to overcome it by the end. Overall, how she handled it was inspired by how I have hidden my own insecurities. So I don’t want to say this is a great allegory for handling body image issues overall, but the how was at least personally inspired on what I’ve had go through my head.

Kate was also special since she was the first queer PC I had ever made. It took me a long time to accept my bisexuality, and I only came out to my family in the last year or so. So, I tested the waters by making my characters LGBTQ to sort of prepare for that. Kate is a lesbian, and her story ultimately ends with her raising her niece on a nice plot of land with Oberon, a gnome named Crawshack, and her girlfriend later wife Inari (who didn’t take Kate’s last name since they would have run out of room on the marriage certificate). She gets her happy ending, with a loving souse and a family on a farm somewhere where she can live undisturbed.

A lot of folks have also asked me why a gunslinger? I was playing a lot of Red Dead 2. That’s literally it. Some things don’t have a deep reason.

Looking on the DQXI WMG page on TVTropes, and I forgot I posited this theory: Father Benedictus never has his eyes open because he has the gift of visions from Yggdrasil; he was born without sight. All throughout the game, Father Benedictus has his eyes closed; initially it may seem like a design choice, him being an elderly man. However, it's revealed by both himself and an NPC that he receives visions from Yggdrasil. When Veronica and Serena arrive in Arboria act one, and Serena again in act two, he seems to sense their presence rather than outright look at them. Since he receives dreams of future events, in one sense he can see. Perhaps, assuming he was born with such a gift, Yggdrasil deemed it unnecessary that he'd need his actual eyesight. If this is indeed true, perhaps his "sensing as seeing" allows him to "see" who people really are? For instance, Sylv and Rab, as the Don's heir and former King of Dundrasil, respectively.

I actually had a small unrefined idea of a Resident Evil AU with Desmond in it but it’s just… Well… my notes are just this:

Desmond gets transported to RE ‘verse. Starts to check out Umbrella because they’re the same as Abstergo (pharmaceutical company, shady af) and this world has no Abstergo so Desmond thinks that the Templars have just made Umbrella their front instead of Abstergo. He’s wrong. He’s in a totally different ‘verse. (Maybe owns a bar in Raccoon City? Turn this into a sorta RE2 + RE3 fix it fic???)

You know what would make Desmond being a reoccurring npc funnier?

Desmond is mostly just pretending to be a bartender because the main cast of Resident Evil just so happen to be in places where he was looking for something (maybe documents about POE?) and it started out as sorta true but ended up kinda being a running joke at some point.

There’s a bar in the train and Billy and Rebecca saw him there both times. Rebecca thinks he might be survivor. Billy thinks he’s sus as fuck (he is). (RE0)

He was in Spencer mansion because he’s looking for something and he and Chris just ‘met up’ in the mansion’s sorta-kinda bar in the mansion (because rich people are weird) and Desmond just goes “Welcome, what can I get you?” and Chris is just “???”. Oh look! Zombies! Time for Desmond to make his exit! (RE1)

He’s truly a bartender of a bar in Raccoon City. Thankfully, STARS members do not go to his bar because they prefer the diner instead. Leon and Claire barges into his bar in different parts of the outbreak. (RE2 + RE3 + Outbreak)

It would be funny if Claire and Chris saw Desmond in the Antarctic base because it apparently has a sorta ‘in-house’ bar. Just the Redfields siblings being “???” because they both saw Desmond in separate occasions in a bar and Claire remembers Desmond being in Raccoon City as a bartender while Chris remembers him from the Spencer Mansion incident. Desmond just greets them and tells them the weird shit he saw before asking if they want something to drink? He could make something quick if they need a bit of ‘liquid courage’. “On the house!” “Do you… even work here?” “Haha, your brother/sister said the same thing.” “You saw Chris/Claire??!” (Code Veronica)

There was a tavern in the village in Valdelobos and Desmond was just there, checking the map he got when Leon, Ashley and Luis came barreling in as they tried to get away from the villagers. “Oh, hey, Leon!” “Desmond?! Wha- what are you-” Villagers came crashing in! “Ah, that’s my cue!” Leon watches as Desmond jumps out of the tavern after throwing three bottles at the villagers and he starts to wonder if Desmond might be like Ada??? (RE4… it would be funny if Leon starts comparing Desmond and Ada like they were the ones who got away, maybe make Ashley joke that he has a complicated love life XD)

Chris and Shiva sees Desmond in a few parts in Kijuju and Chris and Desmond joke about how Desmond isn’t in a bar this time. Desmond teases that that makes it sound like he’s an alcoholic. Shiva wonders if something is going on? Is Desmond a spy? An ally? Or just… some weirdo Chris knows? The last time they see each other, Desmond throws Chris a bottle of his favorite alcoholic beverage and Chris just chuckles. (RE5)

It would be so easy to just have Desmond be in Edonia for this one. It would be super funny if he was in the same submarine as Ada was in the beginning of her story and they just stare at each other before going their separate ways. XD (RE6)

Considering the setting, the most we can get is a cameo from Desmond where he was actually working in a bar (for real this time) that Ethan passed by on his way before the start of the game. Maybe the characters of the prologue/demo would also pass by his bar and Desmond would talk to Ethan about what those doomed protagonists talked about and give Ethan a sorta-kinda head’s up. (RE7)

Desmond and Ethan always see each other in the tavern in the village. Ethan thinks Desmond might be a member of Chris’ organization. Desmond’s like “Nah, I’m a free agent”. (RE8 – honestly? This is seriously the game that Desmond would definitely help out the most because he’s going to see how out of his depth Ethan is and how he just wants to save his daughter and he’d be like… okay, man, I’ll help you.)

(I only focused on the main games but just assume that he’s also in the spin off games and the cgi movies. It would be funny if, by the point of Dead Island, Chris and Leon sees Desmond in a bar in the island and they just give up and ask for a drink instead)

Assassin’s Creed x Resident Evil

Idk why I can’t find any good shit of this idea, especially with Desmond, but I am severely disappointed.

Because, c’mon: sketchy ass company? Genetic experimentation?? We got a lot going on around here!

Plus the Assassins could easily infiltrate some shit, I’m just saying.

Also, Desmond’s there, because he’s either there for a mission, cause he’s a master and shit, or he’s a bartender and listening to drunk ramblings of some of our favorite protagonists from the games.

Whatever works.

A lot of shit can happen when you’re an assassin in a world where bio weapons and fucking zombies are a thing. Though you might have to fuck with the timeline a bit if you want Desmond to be there for some of the bigger events, on both sides (Desmond’s age and the RE timeline) really, but it’s doable.

Or we can have Desmond be revived via bioweapon experimentation, but hey, who knows. ;)

Idk, I just wanted to get this idea out there, have fun with it. ^_^

Best friend!NV npcs go to the kitchen at the Lucky 38 in the middle of the night and find the Courier squatting on the counter, surrounded by fresh loaves of bread, a loaf in each hand, about to tear off a piece with their mouth, they lower the bread and, in a moment of clarity from their typical gremlin shenanigans, says "We both know this isn't the weirdest thing I've ever done so don't look at me like that". Then the Courier offers the npc some bread.

Arcade

He squints at Six with quite possibly the most dumbfounded expression he could muster before slowly retreating out of the room.

Benny

“Thank…you…” He isn’t too sure if their statement is true. Sure, they do weird things all of the time but this… Benny doesn’t think on it any longer and just notes it as one of the strangest things they have done.

Boone

Without a word he reaches his hand out and takes the bread Six offered to him. He then leaves the kitchen, as all he wanted was a midnight snack that just so happened to be fresh bread.

Cass

“You got that right, you little gremlin. Yeah, I’ll take some. Why not?” She isn’t too phased by Six’s shenanigans, and in fact, she indulges in it by staying in the kitchen with them.

The King

“When you invited me over, I have to admit, this wasn’t what I had been expecting…” He’s caught off-guard by Six’s weird antics, but finds their statement agreeable enough to hang out with them and eat bread.

Raul

He shrugs tiredly and takes the offered bread, breaking off a piece and eating it with the gremlin themself. He nods approvingly, “Mm, that’s good bread, boss.” And he leaves the room.

Swank

“Isn’t it? Er, never mind. I don’t want to be reminded if it isn’t.” He quickly shuts it down and turns away from Six, taking himself back to bed.

Veronica

“I’m sure that’s debatable, but I’ll take your word for it. You do some pretty weird stuff.” She is hesitant to take the bread, but gives in to her senses and enjoys the treat.

Vulpes Inculta

“Get. A. Hold. Of. Yourself.” He would plead if it didn’t make him look foolish. Moments like these make him wonder why he ever paired himself with the strange courier.

I mean, really, the best way to handle identity issues in a story is to have it be part of your fictional world already, so there’s no question on who is what; with Fallout: New Vegas doing this exceptionally well with it’s base companions roster.

Boone is straight, as he loves and is dedicated to his wife even after her death. A homosexual soldier who lives nearby and is his best friend, meanwhile, has unreciprocated feelings, and ol’ Craig doesn’t understand the signals at all (from his spotter, no less!), because that’s not how he looks at other men. So the sniper is a straight shooter, got it!

Arcade, on the other hand, is very gay, but only jokes about it or vaguely alludes to this in ways the average player wouldn’t even notice. His profession as a healer is what he wants to be known for. Not any fascist paramilitary organizations he was born into and left when he was old enough either.. *cough*

Veronica? Total lesbian, and revels in opportunities to be girly, even though she’s a close-quarters combat expert and her career path in the Brotherhood of Steel, as a Scribe, is pretty much the professional, serious nerd. Sadly you are unable to reunite her with Christine, due to circumstances in the Dead Money DLC. Either character’s interest in men is unknown, but it seems unlikely, and is never expressed in-game.

Cass, aka Rose of Sharon Cassidy? Bisexual. She’ll hit on and flirt with both men and women, and it’s even part of one of her endings, regardless of the Courier’s own gender. You could write a whole analysis on how alcohol & sex are outlets for her stress and general frustrations, but that’s neither here nor there.

Lily? She could be considered the trans character in the crew, as Super Mutants present as male regardless of their host’s original form, and are all sterile (a plot point in the original game), yet she continues to speak, dress and act as the little old lady she was before her.. ahem.. transformation. Her primary motivation is in finding out what happened to her grandchildren, and even treats you as one of her kids whenever she can.

Raul? He’s some variant of asexual and/or aromantic, as his backstory and mention of loves are purely familial, and when later encountering a woman who resembled his deceased sister whom he cared for dearly, he kept his distance and merely did his best to look out for her well-being. Him being a ghoul and her being a prostitute at this point likely did not help, but he also turns down opportunities presented to him by NPCs in New Vegas itself. The incredibly talented mechanic and gunslinger being ace is a pretty good pun, you’ve gotta admit...

And finally, ED-E the robot and Rex the dog. Who are a robot. And a dog.

Fallout: New Vegas is good, ok? Great, glad we understand one another!
