I fucking love this scene in the fic and I was so glad to be allowed to do this joke. There's just something about Ashley feeling comfortable enough to make fun of him that is so special.

He's not amused now, but later he'll get a chuckle out of it whenever she does it. (Because this won't be the last time she makes fun of him like that)

My Resident Evil B.O.W AU

Bio: Leon S Kennedy with infected with a unknow B.O.W injection which supposed to be his evidence, but he used it on himself to save Claire and Sherry from William Birkin. He grew a reptile like hand, sharp teeth that stick out, legs built for speed and agility, and a long tail with a razor sharp blade. He has spikes along his back which can lay flat when needs to move faster in battle. He still has his human form and ability to speak. Upon saving Sherry, the Division of Security Operations seized Leon and decided to recruit him as thier 'lap dog.' He will do anything to prevent the events of Raccoon City ever again, fight any threat and keep his friends safe at all costs. Due to his temper his strength can get the better of him, the Division of Security Operations keep him chained up until he is needed and muzzled due to his sharp teeth. He was trained by Jack Krauser seeing as he was still technically human. Leon has a few of his own tricks too Krauser doesn't know about. When in public on a mission, he must wear a face mask and a cloak to cover most of his body. His tail and legs are abit difficult to hide. He is still his human height however.

What would happen if Leon never found Ashley or, worse, abandoned her? Saddler, Salazar or whoever infected her with the plagas didn't expect the presidents daughter to become a verdugo, yet here they were.

The problem is, Miss Graham was stubborn enough that even the plaga she hosted refused to conform to Los Illuminados whims, wanting revenge on the man who abandoned her with that cult.

Somehow she remained mostly human looking, something that would make it harder to eliminate the bioweapon that she was, but due to the plaga Ashley developed hemolacria (where ones tears are made partially of blood)

[If leon abandoned her] The only person Ashley likes is Luis, who genuinely did try to help Ashley and heavily criticised Leon for what he did. He begins to work for Tricell, solely at Ashleys request for him to be her handler. He can't forgive himself, he felt so guilty that he couldn't save the presidents daughter, blaming himself for what happened to her.

Ashley only has one goal now... to force Leon S Kennedy into reaping what he had sown. If he is still alive, that is...

Hey just so you know, if you want to write an AU or fanfic where Leon, Ashley or even Ada spontaneously transform into a horrific plagas mutant, there's canon basis for that now. Just expose them to the amber.

The Amber is the reason Krauser has so much control over his plaga mutation. Experiments done on him using it caused his body to become hypercompatible.

The Amber ALSO turned a regular test subject infected with a plaga (Martinico) into a huge monster that is textually stated to be impervious to any form of conventional weapon.

Ada, after getting infected by Pesanta, touches the Amber for just a few seconds and her infection progresses more rapidly than anything we've seen with plagas.

So like... you want to write a story where Leon turns into a Verdugo hybrid? Just give him the Amber.

i happened to stumble upon your fanfic when i was browsing for some resident evil infected Leon fanfictions, and by god has yours scaled up to being one of my all-times favourites, !! (i may have reread some stuff in it over and over again, cough cough waterhall cough cough) So i just wanted to stop by and drop off a small gift !!

I'm really glad you liked water hall so much, it really makes the like, four times, I rewrote that section feel worth it. Last chapter was by far my favorite to write I think.

one thing i rlly like about your plaga leon au is that you actually give a realistic and in character reason for it to happen. it makes sense and it’s compelling. a lot of those aus don’t have as much thought put into them besides “leon’s basically a verdugo now” which just leaves more annoying questions. like what happened to ashley? did the cult’s plan work? what about ada, or krauser? nobody thinks of that they just want leon to have mandibles and kiss luis. that’s fine in art but when constructing a world you need more than that lol anyway this is half a rant and half praise of you 🩵

One thing about me personally is even if I write au stuff, I Want and Need it to be possible within the realm of canon as far as "Does this logically work within the limitations of the story the canon is trying to tell/work within the lore" and "Does this actually work for a character and match up with their motivations and ideals?" I will never do something Solely for the sake of shipping, even if it might look fun.

The whole point of why I (and Claire and Ethan) went with the plaga au in the first place is because A. It's just fun to see what an impact that would have on the rest of Leon's story and what unique challenges it presents for him in the future, B. It does actually give an explanation as to how he manages to survive so much stuff in 4 because he's got something biological on his side and thus helps him to save Ashley with some more ease, and C. Leon has a track record history of letting himself get hurt or putting himself in more danger if it means keeping other people safe. So writing out the exact plaga we gave him and that motivation for actually taking it on for himself Makes Sense within the realm of sticking to his usual motives and such.

Ever with the au changes we made because of the remake, the biggest part of why Leon takes on the plaga is Because he's trying to save Ashley. It isn't about Him, it's about what will give her the best chance of survival, his own future consequences be damned. If this time can be different, if he can actually manage to save Ashley and get her home safe and remover her parasite in time, then whatever sacrifices he makes are worth it to him, and that's in line with everything we ever see him do. He takes those risks Very frequently, like a good example being the opening of 6 where he tells Helena they're making time to save that one guy's daughter even tho it's in vain in the end. He knows he wouldn't be able to live with more loss on his conscience if he refused to help.

I have seen a few au's that do take this kinda stuff into account, like @polarspaz's stuff has Leon take on a prototype of Luis's work because the stress of fighting has made his Plaga develop faster, and taking the prototype means he'll be mutated but regain control of himself without the hallucinations and the hivemind stuff, so that also increases his chances of getting Ashley home safe and allows him to save Luis later on as well. @alvivaarts also has an au fic, Simulation Swarm, that I've been reading on and off where Leon and Ashley both get their plagas removed but because it was so late stage in the game, they Both still end up with some permanent mutations that Luis is trying to research how to reverse for them, and it basically becomes a group effort kinda thing to look out for each other after the worlds turned on them.

So like, there IS ways to do this au that you can still have your fun while actually making it Work in universe y'know? And without throwing Ashley out with the trash because if there's anythng that infuriates me more is when people just make these au's and then don't include her in it at all. That shit makes me so mad when she's so central to the entire story and would absolutely be tied up in any decisions Leon makes during the course of 4. If it's not to the benefit of trying to get them both to safety then Why would he do it in the first place y'know?? She's important to him, he's not going to discard her like that.

Anyways that's more of a long winded answer than I meant to give but anytime you ask me about this au I will take it as a chance to go off on a tangent ~

I'm currently planning out a design for my Plagas!Leon as I watch a Resident Evil 4 Remake walkthrough. Already listed some behavior for my buggy lad here so this goes into some of the physical design.

He's got two fully functional mouths. I ain't telling where the second one is but it's much bigger than his normal one. Like it can envelope half a Verdugo in one bite. Oh, Leon can spit fire from there by generating flammable gas and ignite it with a snap of his tongue which is designed to create static electricity through friction.

Leon got multiple appendages that don't come from the Plagas. How many? Enough that he can walk on all 10 minus the two pairs of scythe like Plagas limbs and his tail.

Leon's tail ends with two stingers as it splits down the middle halfway through. The limb is quite long and rubbery than plated. Reason being Leon's tail can actually stretch an additional five feet with enough momentum, kinda like a sticky hand.

BIG BOI. You can blame the once inactive G virus cells Leon got back in Raccoon City. No way in hell did some not cling onto him with all the Birkin Monster battles especially the one at the end. Just know Leon can carry three people on his lower back and his spines are used as handlebars for passengers to hold onto.

He has eight pair of eyes. Three pairs are where his second mouth is and freak the fuck outta everyone as they are fully functional. Leon definitely bumped, took down stuff or fell multiple times. A pure clutz that Chris compares it to walking on a soapy ice floor.

And that's all I will divulge. Trust me when I say I'm gonna make him gnarly to a degree. It isn't the first time I monsterified a character to eldritch levels. Some examples: Broken Toys!MK from an LMK AU, Ash Soul!BotW Link from a LoZ AU, and Arachnid King!Hank J. Wimbleton from Madness Combat. I get to brush off some dust after not doing it for awhile.

Thinking about details for a Las Plagas infected verse for Leon/Ashley..

(putting this under the cut because This Is Going To Get Fucking Long)

So, the verse itself ('glorias las plagas; infected verse') wouldn't be just for the Las Plagas parasite, as it'd also cover AUs involving the other viruses in the RE verse like the Golgotha/G-Virus, but for the sake of this post we're gonna be focusing solely on Las Plagas itself. But first I'm going to ramble about the parasite.

In the events of Resident Evil 4, both Leon and Ashley become infected at the hands of Los Illuminados. And their symptoms actually get pretty severe into the later part of the game, signalling the significant progression of their parasites.

Right up to when they finally manage to remove the parasites, I think they (or at least Leon, considering that he was infected first before Ashley) were literally on the verge of losing their humanity and succumbing to the parasite - mainly due to the severe hallucinations Leon's getting at this point as he quite literally shambles into the lab with Ashley in his arms. Relevant scene for context/visual example.

I don't really know how the Las Plagas parasite mutates its hosts, but I would imagine the mutations it creates aren't just physical extensions of the parasite's body but actual mutations to the host's body, with prominent examples being El Gigante, Del Lago, Colmillos, Jack Krauser, and Osmund Saddler. There's also the fact that human-animal hybrid monsters like Novistadors and Verdugo exist, which interestingly enough are human-insect hybrids controlled by Las Plagas. I'm not exactly sure what sort of DNA went into the creation of these two in particular but I would imagine there would've been some tampering with the DNA of the parasite.

Something to also note is that there are actually different strains of Las Plagas canonically; the "submissive" strain, which is the original/natural strain that most enemies in the game (such as the Ganados/villagers) are infected with, and the "dominant" strain, which seems to be an altered version of the parasite that allows the host to control those infected with the submissive strain. To my knowledge, Krauser, Saddler, and Salazar were infected with the dominant strain.

So, anyways, back to the actual verse itself.

Since we know that the parasite induces mutations into its host, the "default" version of the verse would mainly consist of the idea that, while Ashley + Leon are free from the parasite's influence, it still left something behind in their bodies due to the infection having progressed so far. Specifically, DNA 'packages' - full of genetic material that the parasite would have used to twist their bodies as it deemed fit.

Whether from outside influence or on their own, these DNA payloads would activate, releasing a huge surge of genetic material that would, of course, result in significant mutations. There's actually a lot of takes on what a Las Plagas-infected Leon would look like (which you can find pretty easily if you search for it on tumblr) so I want to try and be unique-ish in my own take on him (and Ashley).

Since there's no parasite trying to control them, they'd actually have control over how their mutations present themselves - but they aren't going to get the hang of it from day one. I imagine it's a gradual thing; the first few times they mutate, they're basically going to be manifesting the full potential of their genetic potential. Obviously, since it's not only extremely painful but also turning them into walking killing machines, it'd only really occur in a high-stress life-or-death situation. After that though, they get the hang of it over a long but gradual process, until eventually they can reach a point where they can just spontaneously mutate whatever they want (granted that they are able to mutate it in the first place), whenever they want.

As for what these mutations would actually look like; I don't feel like drawing full-body references right now so I'll try and give a brief summary of the most significant features in a "full-manifestation" state of mutation. Maybe with some sketches thrown in too.

For Leon;

He'd have two sets of large insectoid mandibles within his mouth (normally folded against the actual jawbone/teeth), which are capable of protruding quite far out for serious chomping action. Think of it as a weird cross between the mandibles of Elites/Sangheili (Halo) and the mandibles of tarantulas. When they're folded up, the tips of the fangs stick out from his lips a little bit.

There's a lot of thick, chitinous plating on his body. While it doesn't cover his entire body, it's mainly present along his spine, the ribs, his outer thighs, and along his arms. Everything below the knees and elbows, however, become almost completely chitinous. He gets toe/finger beans however.

He gets a tail. It's basically a cross between the tail of a Verdugo and the tail of scorpions like the thick-tailed scorpion. In its 'default' state it's about 6 feet in length, but it can actually stretch to as far as 13 feet long - the chitin does not stretch along with it, though, so there's a lot of sections of exposed muscle that can leave it vulnerable to damage.

He gets an extra pair of mantis-like pincer-limbs that normally lie at rest folded up on his back, but can spring out into action for gripping onto surfaces or stabbing enemies.

The hands and feet remain human-like in structure but the digits become a lot stronger and somewhat elongated. Combined with him getting straight-up claws and he can climb walls with no issue most of the time.

For Ashley;

She'd basically get a lot of the same features as Leon; chitin plating, a tail (though hers is much smaller, can't elongate, and lacks a bladed stinger), extra limbs (which are, again, smaller and not so deadly), and claws. She lacks the mouth-mandibles however, and gets a pair of wings that resemble that of a moth's but are much more durable in comparison.

-the setting is a modernish bathroom. this bathroom is supposed to be Ashley's, which is supported by the sticky notes, photos, and stickers on the mirror.

-lighting draws focus to the mirror and to mari as the center of attention

-I take Ashley's canon casual clothes as a sign that she was deep into emo culture (it was the early 2000s) so I imagine her wanting to style up her living space with stickers (including pikachu, cause as i said before, it was the early 2000s)

-sticky notes! I imagine Ashley as someone who wants to keep on top of things, so she puts colorful sticky notes in her bathroom as a reminder.

-the pink sticky note is a list of things to do. At this point in the au he's taking a break from college for her mental health (and to recover from being kidnapped by a cult LOL) but the list reads

-write paper, do dishes, go for a hike

-it doesn't say that but this hike is where she found mari. the only other sticky note is "call Leon", but since it's crossed out, we can assume she already did (he didn't answer LOL) but next is GET BUG SPRAY, cause, well, ya'know. giant bug girl.

-the photos are all of Ashley, another clue that this is her bathroom. one picture is with her and her university friends, one is with Leon, and the cut off one is with her dad.

-mari is leaning towards the mirror, her reflection is human, but behind her is a verdugo. The verdugo is her, but mari hasn't let go of her human sense of identity yet and still mostly sees herself as human (she's in denial)

-thats where the line "i think i finally see what she sees" comes in. mari still sees herself as the human version of her and is unwilling to let go because she doesn't want to face reality. ashley sees a bioweapon. in this piece mari finally sees both and starts to come to terms with what she's become

The news about Resident Evil 4 remake made me rewatch some videos of the original and, anyway I was thinking about how Leon gets infected by Las Plagas and all. May I ask for a scenario or concept of infected!Leon being protective of his Darling?

There's some really good fan art concepts online of Las Plagas! Leon, ngl. Pulling from those. Take this as an AU. May make this a scenario later as I found it came out nice.

Concept

Pairing: Romantic/Animal/Pet-Like

Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Yandere-like behavior, Feral beast Leon, Murder, Violence, Stalking, Overprotective behavior, Possessive behavior, Monster loving.

- Let's say Leon doesn't get the Las Plagas parasite removed in time.

- The mission is officially considered a failure and Leon is left trying to regain his more human mind.

- Everything is just so fuzzy....

- He's just about going feral and is much different from how he is when human.

- How you fit into this can be up to you.

- You could be Leon's partner, someone not infected in the village Leon's investigating, or someone deployed to find Leon's whereabouts.

- In any of these ways Leon would probably act the same.

- He has a much more feral mind than his usual self due to the parasite so how he finds you might be through stalking.

- He plans on hunting you down but some human part of his mind holds him back from leaping on top of you.

- He's better than that... he has to be.

- You could imagine Las Plagas! Leon however you want but personally I like to imagine him like a hybrid of the Verdugo.

- Tail, claws, sharp mandibles, etc.

- However if you want more accurate to the game you can imagine him keeping more of his human form without all that.

- It doesn't change his advanced reflexes, endurance, and speed.

- He's no longer human but he's strong enough to keep at least some moral compass.

- By the time you catch a glimpse of him it's clear something's wrong.

- His clothing is ripped due to excelerated growth and attacks from other villagers.

- His eyes are crazed, drool is dripping from his mouth.

- Everything about him looks dangerous to you, but you notice he never makes any attempt to outright lunge at you.

- Leon's always staring at you from afar.

- His eyes are trained on you but he usually is atop a building or behind something.

- You don't entirely see his full appearance until you run into danger.

- Perhaps you're surrounded by infected villagers, or managed to find an even bigger/stronger foe.

- You think you're a goner...

- Left to die by being maimed in this village that reeks of death.

- Then, there's a roar.

- Before your eyes you see Leon on a rooftop, eyes burning in fury at your enemies.

- You heave a sigh in defeat and close your eyes, trying to keep your distance.

- Then you see Leon not attacking you, but defending you.

- The beast growls and does what he can to protect you until nothing else moves except you and him.

- Then Leon turns to you, eyes focused before keeping close to you.

- He can no longer just watch you from afar.

- He needs to be beside you to keep you safe.

- That leads to you and Leon becoming (forced) companions.

- He never talks much, only following you around like a strange puppy.

- Not many come near you after Leon forces himself by your side.

- Most of the time he walks on two legs, yet sometimes four is faster.

- When Las Plagas! Leon is feeling protective he'd probably wrap himself around you and growl.

- If that doesn't work then he goes in for the kill.

- There's also a chance Leon would be affectionate even in this form.

- Although he is rough with it.

- Rubbing against you harshly, pulling you into abandoned buildings to hold you....

- Leon becomes an overprotective guard dog as a Las Plagas beast when it comes to you.

- In his human mind, he adores and loves you.

- Although the parasite makes him much more like a beast when it comes to expressing such thoughts.

- He doesn't care what happens to anyone who crosses him or you.

- As long as he can keep you safe then his claws will rip them to shreds.

The silly idea of AU RE4xRE8 crossover came to my mind over the past few weeks. It might go something like this : [*]The year is 1991. USSR is on the verge of collapse. The civil war in Yugoslavia has started. The leader  of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbatchev, is held hostage in Crimea. [*]Her daughter is kidnapped by a cult from a small village in Romania close to the Yugoslavian border, led by Mother Miranda. [*] After the 1989 revolution, Ceaucescu regime collapsed in Romania, and gives  the opportunity to Mother MIranda and the 4 Lords to bribe officials and be free to do whatever they want. [*]The village is full of Miranda’s fanatical followers willing to do whatever it takes for her. [*]Leonid Kennedimsov, the soviet knock-off of Leon Kennedy, is a Spetsnaz member sent to rescue Gorbatchev’s daughter [*] RE4 Verdugo become Salvatore Moreau. I never claim it was meant to be super original. ;) [*]Salazar become Lady Dimitrescu. Though maybe we should confront the two? I guess Lady D would be annoyed and just kick Spanish Benjamin Button into orbit. XD [*]Ada Wong become a spy from the chinese secret service. Instead of saving Leonid’s ass, she’s held unwillingly (or... is she? ;)) by Lady Dimitrescu in her castle and Leonid has to save her. Will his right hand come off?  [*]TV shows from the West are now available in Romania.  The Dimitrescus daughters became addicted to the TV at Heisenberg’s place. They are entering their punk goth phase, to the dismay of their mother. [*]Heisenberg is an East German who tried to evade the Eastern Bloc through Romania in the 1970′s, but was captured and transformed by Mother Miranda. [*]He got his hand on a former uranium mine in Romania. It’s anyone’s guess what he is gonna do with it. ;) [*] Krauser become Vladimir Putin. Because why the hell not? :D [*]Lord Saddler become Mother Miranda, of course!  [*] No equivalence found for Donna Beneviento, but AFAIK she was still a child at that time according to RE canon.

I might consider expanding more shitty stuff like that in a dedicated fanfic someday. But writing one was more time consuming that I would admit, so I don’t know. ;) Oh and I suck at finding alternate names.
