i love the original i do but i know he has the full thing of mungojerrie and rumpleteazer and the conjuring turn and i need it also i want to her Veerle Casteleyn and Geoffrey Garratt voice their characters LISTEN TO THEM Also was Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer dubbed or not. I've see people saying it was that it wasn't that only the giggling and the shushing are dubbed that only the giggling and the shushing are not dubbed I'm confused and am yet to get a straight answer

A cardboard standee cutout of Veerle Casteleyn as Jemima for promotion of the physical release of CATS (1998) in stores.

Standing at a small bit over four and a half feet tall, it is literally Jemima sized!

This was used (or so I am told) in the New London theatre with a section that housed the VHS tapes for sale, which is missing from this, and was likely found beside or close to the merch booth. Even if not used in the theatre itself, it is still a magnificent piece!

Cats 1998 Anniversay Event - Jemima

Child me adored Veerle Casteleyn's Jemima and i still do, now with the feeling of childhood nostalgia. She is such a beautiful and fascinating character with the voice of an angel. i love her!

@none-ofthisnonsense I tried twice to answer your ask about the degree of yellowness in Jemima's wig in the new Napier designs, recent designs before that, and 1998, but tumblr kept eating it and eventually ate the ask too. :( so now I am just going to stick the photos here and and say SOD IT and we can all make our own conclusions.

I wouldn't say I see much difference in the colouring myself: more in the length and the sad lack of spikiness in the Napier re-designs.

Juliette’s “everyday” dress is typically a reddish/orange/pink color, with burnout velvet at the bust part as well as the bell sleeves. Sometimes a short corset or bodice is added to it, but sometimes they are just worn for publicity photos for some reason.

What's your height headcanons??

I'm gonna make it easier for myself and put everyone in catogories from the tallest cat to the smallest bean, who's totally not Jemima.

Tallest:

I don't think this is much of a surprise but Plato is definitely the tallest of the bunch (which makes the height difference between him and Vic even better). Although despite his height he is definitely also the softest cat in the tribe.

The other cats at this height are Alonzo and Macavity. Both also have very slim bodies but for vastly different reasons.

Tall:

'Jellicle cats are rather small' my ass- Anyway, on the top here we got Coricopat. He's just short enough for me to not make it into the tallest group. After him we got Bombalurina and then Tantomile being just slightly shorter than her.

Tugger, Munkustrap and Cassandra I see being mostly the same height with only centimeters being the difference. And the last two are Old Deuteronomy and Jellylorum, both of them were taller but got shorter with age.

Taller than average:

Let's keep this short (pun intended) and simple. Skimbleshanks, Asparagus Jr, Bustopher Jones and our lovely Jellicle dog George.

Average:

Starting us of we have Jennyanydots who, just like Coricopat, is just missing out on the group above. Then we have Gus and Grizabella being practically the same height. Mungojerrie comes in right after with Demeter being just slightly shorter, and last we have Rumpleteazer (Does Mungo teaze her for being shorter than him? Yes, yes he does.)

Shorter than Average:

Once again we have our sweet boy Tumblebrutus just missing out on being the average height but as he grows up he'll definitively be up there with his dads. And only because he himself refuses to be called short again we have Mistoffelees. Will he also grow taller with age? Probably not.

Short:

With Plato being the tallest it only fair for Victoria to be one of the shortest. Right, that's how it works. After her we have Pouncival and Electra being mostly the same height.

Shortest:

Now although she's here now Etcetera will definitely grow to be a lot taller, probably around Jennyanydots's height. And of course our little bean Jemima is the shortest of them all and we have Veerle Casteleyn to thank for that. I think I'll actually make another post about why I think Jemima being so short is such a good detail if anyone is interested (or even if nobody is).

You get to cast your own version of Cats to be filmed and turned into a movie!!! the only problem is you can't pick anyone from the 1998 movie, Unless it's for a different role then they were in the move then it's ok but is has to be a role they have once played in the past even if it was as a swing/cover (EX: Fergus Logan as Misto or Veerle Casteleyn as Victoria)

They can be from any production no matter the year or language used and you can pick actors from non-replicas too

Characters like Gus jr., George, and Exotica can be removed if you can't think of anyone but everyone else must stay and you can add other swings of you want and if need be you can change who plays the Rumpus cat and Macavity can have his own Actor if you want. and if you want a actor but they played the character under a different name (EX: Sillabub, Admetus, Carbuckety, Bill Bailly) they are allowed just keep the names from the 1998 movie

In honour of the 25th anniversary of the release of CATS (1998) in the UK today, we all need some Jemima in our lives.

The figurine was made by the San Francisco Music Box Company shortly after the release of the film, and features a music box inside the base that plays Memory (the standard for all CATS music boxes made by the company).

The figurine is made in the likeness of Veerle Casteleyn who played Jemima in the film (and also in a few other productions before and after), with all the finer details hand painted, including the base.

These music boxes are all so much fun!

First day of Cats 1998 Anniversary Celebration! I'm so happy! Today prompt: favourite actor.

And after first excitment I'm sad now. I don't have a fav! I don't know them personally, so I can't say "That one I like, that one don't". I love all of those wonderfull people, because they changed my life. Because of their hard, unusual work they together created somethin amazing, something... well, lifechanging. So, I want to say "Thank you! You are the best! I love you!" to all of them!

HI HELLO!!!! I love talking about Jemima so so much, she’s my favorite girlie in the entire world :D, thank you for sending this in!!!!

3. A song that reminds you of them:

Oooo, associating songs with cats characters is so fun, there’s so many different ways to interpret things. I’m going to say Army Dreamers by Kate Bush.

It very much fits her vibe, both in a prophecy-oracle sentiment, and the tone of voice. The song also has a mystical-morbid quality that seems integral to Jemima’s character.

8. Your favorite outfit of them:

I love it when she gets to be colorful!!! Pink and red are my favorites, and combinations of the two are my favorite.

I’m a big of her costume in the Sylvani, Antwerp production from 1996, (VEERLE CASTELEYN, ILY <3333), mostly because it’s a slightly more colorful version of the 1998 costume. I also really like Wendy Braga’s costume in Mexico’s 2018 tour. (The same goes for Sillibub, they both look so gorgeous in that production).

9. Your least favorite outfit of them:

I’m not a huge fun of the brown wig that she was given in the US productions in 2010s(?). It just didn’t really fit the costume, and it’s not as whimsical as previous wigs, with all the stripes and red colors.

There’s not a specific costume I dislike, as she doesn’t have too much variation. That being said, as much as I like her Tecklenburg costume, it’s not one of my favorites. I wish she’d had this costume instead

I really like Jemima and Victoria, platonic or otherwise, but my ABSOLUTE favorite is her relationship with Tantimile and Coricopat. It’s SO special to me <3
