☠️ Dastdeaths (spoilers) ⚰️
25. Miracle Workers (2023) - Ugulus Sleeze (??? Daniel Radcliff's wrongful assumptions)
The poor guy just wanted to sing some karaoke 😥 well, he does sing it at the end, so maybe they managed to reconnect his feeding tube or whatever. There, done.
(tfw you were expecting Piter but get Harkonnen)
26. The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023) - Wojchek (bitten by Dracula)
And now he's a vampire too. Boom. Next.
27. The Boogeyman (2023) - Lester Billings (hanged)
Just cut him loose and do mouth to mouth. Alive again.
28. Boston Strangler (2023) - Albert DeSalvo (shanked)
Nothing to add except, even in the movie he plays the title character, his role is minimal. Who makes these decisions???
29. Boulet Brothers' Halfway to Halloween (2023) - Puppeteer (poisoned)
Comes back as a puppet.
Special mention - Lacrimosa (2020) - Male Corpse (unknown)
Well, he starts off dead, but then he lives. You're the opposite of what this list's about, corpse husband, get outta here.
Well, that's it. For now. And if there's one thing this whole exercise has showed me is that he's flawless at playing dead. Not a breath in sight, no eye twitch, no movement whatsoever. He's just
good at
dying.
But he's good at living too! Please pay attention to that part!
Well, see you in the next 5 or so deaths. If you think I've forgotten something, please let me know.

Black Vampire Movies/Media:
an incomprehensive watch/reading list
/|㇏^•ᵥᵥ•^ノ|\
(part 1/?)
Blacula (1972)
William Marshall (The Boston Strangler) plays Prince Mamuwalde, an African royal whom Count Dracula takes everything from when he turns him into a vampire. (after Dracula refuses to help Mamuwalde suppress the slave trade.) Renamed Blacula, Mamuwalde grapples with losing his humanity, similar to other gothic tales.
Scream Blacula Scream (1973)
Marshall returns as Blacula in the 1973 sequel, where he creates a horde of vampires. Pam Grier (Jackie Brown) plays Lisa Fortier, an inexperienced voodoo practitioner trying to remove Blacula’s curse. Scream Blacula Scream was the acting debut of Richard Lawson (Sugar Hill), and it strayed away from the typical portrayals of voodoo as dark magic.
Ganja & Hess (1973)
After being stabbed with an ancient, germ-infested knife, a doctor's assistant finds himself with an insatiable desire for blood.
Vamp
Two college buddies go to a strange city late one night and find themselves in the clutches of evil.(source)
Fledgling (2005)
Octavia E Butler’s Fledgling follows Shori, a girl who appears to be an African-American child but is actually a 53-year-old Ina – a vampire species that have seemingly always coexisted with humans.
In typical vampire fashion, the Ina need to feed on human blood to survive, but instead of killing their victims, the venom they produce hugely extends the human lifespan. So the relationship between vampires and humans is symbiotic rather than parasitic.
Shori can’t remember her life before the story begins. This means she also doesn’t remember why she is different. As the story progresses, she gradually and violently becomes aware that society is hostile to her. The Ina are a species of vampire with white skin. Shori learns that she is black because she was experimented upon and mutated in the quest to help the Ina survive the sun – vampires are killed by sunlight. (source)

Libraries and Librarians on Film: The Night Strangler (1973 / TV Movie)
The Night Strangler was the second TV movie to feature Darren McGavin as Carl Kolchak, the investigative reporter who would go on to be the star of a short-lived but highly influential TV series called Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
The formula of most Kolchak stories goes something like this:
Kolchak is an investigative reporter who's having trouble finding / holding down a job. Sometimes it's because he steps on too many people's toes, and sometimes it's because the cases he investigates are simply unbelievable.
He gets a new case, which seems at first to be ordinary, but it turns out that there's actually something paranormal going on.
He uncovers evidence, but people don't believe him. He yells at his boss, and his boss yells at him.
HOWEVER, he does gain one or more allies along the way. Sometimes they just believe his story, and sometimes they actively help with his investigation, even if that means putting their own lives at risk.
More stepping on toes. More yelling.
The case is solved by Kolchak, who knows that he's right about the vampire / zombie / etc. that was really behind it all. But either nobody believes him, or the people who do believe him can't do anything about it. Kolchak's newspaper story is either suppressed entirely or changed completely.
In case it wasn't obvious, I'm a big fan of the Kolchak movies and TV show, as well as Kolchak's spiritual successors like The X-Files and Fringe.
But why am I singling out this particular story? Because one of Kolchak's allies in The Night Strangler is a smart, curious, and helpful man called Mr. Berry (played by Wally Cox in one of his final roles). Mr. Berry isn't a librarian per se, but he DOES work with archives. He works in the morgue of the Daily Chronicle, which is the newspaper in Seattle that's employing Kolchak as he tries to solve a bizarre series of murders.
Kolchak himself isn't a big fan of research, but he knows that he needs a researcher to help him with this case:
When he meets Mr. Berry, he quickly learns how he feels about research:
[Personal Question: So, should I have "Research. That's where the joy lies." put on my business cards by itself? Or should I also add in the line "This is where the meat is found."???]
ANYWAY, Kolchak visits Mr. Berry multiple times during his investigation, and it's Mr. Berry who first suggests that the current murders are very similar to some murders that took place 21 years earlier ...
And this encourages them to search further back ...
And further back ...
And even FURTHER back ...
By the time that Kolchak has stepped on so many toes that he's been handcuffed by the police, it's Mr. Berry who comes to the rescue with supporting evidence that will show that Kolchak isn't crazy after all:
Which leads us to Mr. Berry's moment of justly-deserved recognition:
Of course, just because Kolchak was right doesn't mean that his story is going to be published. In fact, the real story will never make it to print. Sound familiar?
But on the plus side, the success of these TV movies DID lead to Kolchak's own TV series!
While the New York Public Library doesn't carry any of the Kolchak TV movies / series, Kolchak: The Night Stalker IS included in the book The Greatest Cult Television Shows of All Time by Christopher J. Olson.

Treant Reaper
“Arboreal Reaper” © Paizo Publishing, accessed at Archives of Nethys here
[I still don’t like “arboreal” as the SRD-free name for treants. “Arboreal” means “living in trees” not “an animated tree”, damnit. But I do like the ways that Paizo has expanded the arboreal/treant family. Making one focused on decay is a cool concept, and making it look like a strangler fig is an excellent choice of aesthetic.]
Treant Reaper CR 7 N Plant This stunted, leafless tree has a humanoid face and a vaguely humanoid shape. Long roots and tendrils grow from its legs and back, and its bark appears warped and worn.
Treant reapers are smaller, more sinister-looking relatives of treants. They are not evil, but are enamored with decay, fungal creatures, and other aspects of rot and regeneration. They gain their sobriquet from their habit of finishing off slowly dying, suffering trees, allowing their nutrients to be absorbed by other creatures and recycled. They are most active during the autumn and winter in cold or temperate forests, but may be on walkabout throughout the year in tropical rainforests.
A treant reaper is quicker to act with violence than a normal treant is—they are especially hostile towards loggers who would remove the wood from a forest to decompose, or those who wish to burn a forest down for a short pulse of nutrient rich ashes. They typically try to attack from ambush, lobbing barbed thorns from range or draining the moisture from enemies in an attack similar to a horrid wilting spell. Enemies that close the gap are battered with the reaper’s fists, and with the roots that grow from their legs and back. Treant reapers are happy to fight to the death, as long as they can be sure that their nutrients remain in their forest.
The forests that are protected by a treant reaper often gain something of a sinister reputation. Wicked druids and witches may feel at home in these forests, and undead sometimes lurk beneath their boughs. As long as these beings do not harm the cycles of nature, the reaper pays them no mind. Treant reapers often plant their seeds in ruined buildings or on top of dead trees—the sprout draws nutrients from these structures and breaks them down with their roots before uprooting itself and entering its mobile adulthood.

Ten 'Once Daniel has returned to Trinity Gate' headcanons that no one asked for:
Trinity Gate is a matching Christmas pajamas household. You know you're truly considered a member of the family when you get a pair. Lestat eventually gets his in silk but the same design. Armand, once they've at least opened a dialogue because Marius is also important to Daniel, sends some to Marius and invites him because he's still family and they're trying to sort themselves out.
They don't always spend the day together. Daniel can get overstimulated and Louis is still an introvert, so sometimes they like to have their own space. Armand is the exception - given the choice, he never sleeps on his own. He knows he'll wake first and loves to be curled into someone else's arms. It helps remind him that whatever he dreamt, he's not alone anymore.
Armand braves the intense scents of Lush so Louis can have his variety of candles that aren't as artificial as the Bath & Bodyworks ones. Louis rarely buys them for himself, but when Armand notices he's low on one or feeling down, he likes to give them to him.
Daniel cannot figure out what to get people for their first holiday together until he decides on animal adoption and experience. It ends up being a hell of a family day out: Armand's red panda hangs off his arm and sticks out his tongue, much to his lovers delight. Sybelle is very excited to throw the bloody meat to her new lion friend and Benji laughs himself stupid as the Penguin fusses around him, curious about their companion for the evening. Louis reads to his giant turtle and for a while, everything becomes turtles for him: sweaters, candles, blankets, books, documentaries. Daniel ends up feeling pretty proud of his first attempt to do a 'family' gift.
The first time Daniel really struggles with the noises and intensity of New York, Louis pulls him into his room - a lot more muted than his own or Armand's by his own request - and lets him lay with the curtains on the four-poster Armand insisted drawn and reads aloud to give him something to focus on so he doesn't spiral. It marks a turning point in their individual relationship, that even if it's not inherently romantic, they do very clearly love each other and it's both their homes.
Louis is the first one to split his time between France and Trinity Gate. They all end up doing it just because they don't like being apart for that long and Lestat, being Lestat, also shows up at Trinity Gate half the time during the periods they make it back there. It's unofficial, this Lestat shaped addition to their ongoing relationship, because no one really talks about it. Daniel breaks the stalemate because this is the third time they've come back to TG and tried to squeeze into Armand's giant bed with him and he just says, "I think I've lost track of who's in a relationship and who isn't." Diagrams are drawn.
Daniel and Armand still get into early morning debates from time to time, much to the annoyance of anyone else who's decided Armand's bed is fair game save perhaps for Louis. It ranges from 'do souls exist' to 'is toby the Scranton strangler'. Louis got sucked into the one about whether Jessica Fletcher is a serial killer and had some very strong opinions on the matter.
Daniel manages to surprise everyone over breakfast by asking if he's dead. Louis informs him that yes, he's a vampire without looking up from his book but Daniel clarifies he means that he means in terms of his mortal identity, he has no idea if he's dead or not. Does he have a grave? Did he have a funeral? There's no way Armand wouldn't know, this is right up his friendly neighbourhood stalker street.
Louis walks in on what can only described as simulated oral sex, apologises and asks if he's left his book in there and retrieves it. He does ask later why two vampires would be interested in doing that, but Daniel says it's psychosomatic, Armand in his mouth, his hand scratching through his hair, it still makes him tremble all over and it works as foreplay before drinking. This leads to Louis trying it, but without the memories of doing it as a source of orgasmic pleasure as a mortal together, it doesn't really have the same effect. It's worth it to see Lestat's response when he asks to try it with him; deer in horny headlights is a good look for him.
Armand develops a deep seated love of the fake monster houses that pop up all over. He even decides to volunteer for one, having a great deal of fun playing a monster for the night in a way that makes some people run and others laugh. "You can take the vampire out of the theatre," Louis says, but he at least approves of raising money for charity. He's trying to move past seeing himself as damned, as a monster, but acknowledges Armand's relationship with being seen as one is far more complicated than his own and wants to support his endeavours.
#louis' relationship with guilt is a love story for the ages so i feel like in trying not to seem like a monster charity feels important#also lestat just about faints when louis brings up the idea of simulating a bj#and wonders what exactly armand has been doing with his lover for this to happen#and should he yelling at him or sending a thank you card#armandblr#the vampire armand#daniel molloy#louis de pointe du lac#lestat de lioncourt#poly pile fluff#armand/daniel#lestat/louis#louis/armand/daniel#vc

My name is Apple! I've been writing forever, but I eventually lost motivation with it, as my work kept piling up. I'm at Uni now, and I want to get back into writing!
Genres~
My favourite genres are Apocalypse, Fantasy, and Science Fiction - my love being Science Fiction! Usually the things I write are a weird mix of the three. I also enjoy reading these! I really don't like romance, so all of my work will not be romance based, or will have small romantic sub-plots.
WIP~
I have a lot of WIPs that I need to start, but the idea is there! (The problem with most of my work is that it just stays in my head!!) My current WIP is a Vampire detective noir set in a futuristic, blade runner-esque city. It is a mix of blade runner (as referenced before!!), matrix, and your classic detective-noir movies. I was also inspired by the game 'The Wolf Among Us' - I love how they mix classic fairytales with the gritty, gruesome backdrop of a corrupt city. Many of my works are inspired by video games!
Books I'm reading and recommend~
I am currently reading 'In the Miso Soup' by Ryu Murakami, and I'm loving it so far!! I love weird and strange books, so this murder mystery really gripped me within the first few pages. I can't wait to find out what happens next! (Also, I did pick this up to look at because of the cover!! Don't judge a book by its cover and all that, but the cover for this book is incredible!)
Some more books I would recommend are:
Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky - A post-apocalyptic book set in the Moscow Metro. We follow Artyom as he journeys through the Metro to deliver a message.
We by Yevgeny Zamyatin - Set in a totalitarian state, we see the change of perspective of our main character, D-503, through a series of journal entries.
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk - The book that went on to become a cult-classic film, this book tells the story of the mysterious Narrator, and his relationship with Tyler - a charismatic soap salesman and extremist.
The Whole Town is Sleeping by Ray Bradbury - A short story following Lavinia Nebbs as she walks home amidst rumours of a woman-strangler. The descriptions of the town and the environment are so good, it makes me feel like I am in the book, sitting there with Lavinia!
The Machine Stops by E. M. Forster - A short story about an isolated world, where people are taken care of, and can only communicate to one another through the use of machines.

Universal Horrors (Crossover AU of umbrark's FNAF Human AU)
(((OOC: This will also include other properties from other companies like with 20th Century Fox for example (due to them being featured in Universal Studios' HHN events), HHN stuff, and other horror films by Universal Pictures
The AU itself is basically a crossover between Universal Studios' horror films and umbrark's FNAF Human AU. I'm thinking events would probably change due to the presence of the characters from them. Here are some character ideas I have so far
Norman Bates (Psycho): A troubled man who moved his motel business to Hurricane, Utah and is employed as a cook at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. Of course however, things aren't what they seem to be as Norman sometimes gets paranoid and would start arguing with "Mother". Things get worse however as someone wearing a mother's dress and grey hair is sometimes spotted inside and outside the Pizzeria... (1980s)
"Abraham Hemingway" (actually Dracula): A seemingly-human man who owns a company, Hemingway Corp., and works with William Afton from time-to-time. In actuality however, he is none other than the infamous vampire Dracula, who had survived death before and moves to America in order to hide from those that hunt down the vampire, especially if those are descendants of Abraham van Helsing. The only one who knows his secret is William Afton, who the vampire promises immortality to him. (1970s-2020s)
Peter Talbot (Descendant of Lawrence Talbot and Larry Talbot, both of them sharing the same fate on becoming a werewolf): A security guard that got hired for Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria for day-shifts. He is best described as a nervous yet friendly guard who does his best at his job and looks harmless, but at Full Moon, he transforms into a terrifying werewolf and kills anyone on sight. (1980s)
David Kessler (An American Werewolf in London): A backpacker who is hiding out in America due to being responsible for the killings in London and the Piccadilly Circus Massacre. He does his best to keep his werewolf form under control whenever a Full Moon is shown. He forms a friendship with Peter Talbot due to their similar circumstances. (1980s)
Johnny Bartlett a.k.a The Grim Reaper (The Frighteners): A demented mass murderer with a grisly count of 40. Has been into Hell not only once, but twice. Got out of hell for the third time and has set his sights on Springtrap and The Phantoms. Is facing competition with Chucky (once known as the Lakeshore Strangler in his human life before transferring his spirit to a Good Guy doll) (2010s)
FNAF Human AU belongs to @umbrarkzoo
Universal Horrors AU belongs to me.)))

Writing a paper about vampires.
I like the idea that vampires predated christains and dinosaurs in the sense that it went against god
Like, nuh uh only God is allowed to raise people from the dead. This must be the work of Satan.
BUT THEN
Wait oh no that means Satan has equal power to God
Chaos ensues
ALSO whyyyyy didn't we keep around the idea that vampires also just liked to bug people
Pinching you n shit
Why's it only gotta be blood? Huh? Where's my stranglers?
Trying to figure out one of those "why r u doing xyz? Is it to xyz a boy?" Jokes
But it's 3:30 in the morning and this draft should've been finished 3 hours ago
BUT
This shits honestly pretty cool
The idea that Mary Shelly, nepo baby of Mary Wollstonecraft fame, was friends with people that wrote about something that philosophes were literally trying to debunk
Hey mom ik you're trying to logic the shit out of this corpse but look my friend wrote fanfiction about it
What a world we live in
Also a shame bram stoker couldn't make it long enough to see either nosferatu or dracula in film
He would've had a heart attack probs
Oh well
#vampires#dracula#bram stoker#this literally all started because i lost my mind ans watched the lost boys 40 times in a row#not kidding#lost boys#the lost boys#mary shelley#idk who the intended audience for this post is#but yk here it is#feeding the void

The Kolchak Report :The Night Stalker 1972
Welcome to the Kolchak Report where I am gonna review every episode of Kolchak the Night Stalker, but before I do that Im going to talk about the two TV movies that lead to the series ,starting with 1972's The Night Stalker
Hasbeen investigative reporter Carl Kolchek (DArren McGavin ) is investigating A mad killer known as Janos Skorzeny(Barry Atwater ) is going around draining women of blood in Las Vegas ,when he starts to realize theymight be dealing with an actual vampire
SO in the 70's the vampire started being seen as a kind of a quaint idea ,so a few writers thought "What if a vampire attacked in modern times",so we got stuff like Salems Lot and Blacula but I think the best of them is Night Stalker .Its a pretty realistic take on a vampire .Like all the tropes are there(The crosses, the stakes, the fangs) but the feel is very much that this is a murder mystery/thriller where the villain happens to be a vampire ,and that groundedness makes it legit spooky .Barry Atwater is legit chilling ,with an imposing physical presence and acts more like a cornered animal then a person .However he isnt the main focus, the focus is on the utter denile by the police and politicians to admit there is a real vampire going around
Cast is solid including Ralph Meeker as the token buddy of Kolchak ,Claude Akins as the bullheaded sheriff ,CArol Lynley as Kolchaks girlfriend, and the always awesome Simon Oakland as Kolchaks boss Tony Vincenzo, who would go on to be the main supporting character for Kolchak going forward
The standout however is Kolchak himself played by the great Darren McGavin.....Im gonna see if I keep thios thought to the end of the series, but Kolchak maybe one of my favorite horror heroes .Hes an obnoxious blowhardt but he belives in the truth ,and as a newsman his job is to lay out all the facts,no matter how absurd they maybe and who doesnt want them said .When the supernatural is staring him in the face ,he rolls with it and has to do what it takes to take it on
This is a great TV horror movie ,and a perfect watch around Halloween time .The film has a clear ending so if you wanna watch it as a stand alone, you can find it on youtube
This is only the begining of Kolchak ,as next up we shall talk about its sequel the Night Strangler
